Where are the SR 71’s today?
They are all on display in America with one exception. #962 is at Duxford, Great Britain. this SR-71 was the one that was the most frequently stationed in Great Britain It’s a permanent loan from the United States to Great Britain with our thanks.
Arizona
#17951 flew on March 5, 1965, and served as a test bird throughout its career. It is currently displayed at the Pima Air Museum, Tucson, AZ.
California
California is home to more SR-71 aircraft than any other state. It houses six of them, listed below:
•SR-71A #17955 - AFFTC Museum, Edwards AFB, CA.
•SR-71A #17960 - Castle Air Museum near Atwater, CA.
•SR-71A #17963 - Beale AFB, CA.

•SR-71A #17975 - March Field Museum, March AFB, CA.
•SR-71A #17980 - NASA's Dryden Flight Research Center as #844.
Florida
In Florida, specifically at the USAF Armament Museum, Eglin AFB, FL, the SR-71A #61-7959, also known as the "Big Tail," is on display. This nickname dates to 1975, when it was chosen as the platform for a new series of sensors placed in an extension towards the rear of the aircraft . The last flight of this aircraft took place on October 29, 1976
Georgia
At the Museum of Aviation, Robins AFB, GA, the Blackbird SR-71A #17958 is on display. According to various records, on July 28, 1976, this example facilitated a human being (pilot captain Eldon W. Joersz and major RSO George T. Morgan Jr.) to reach the highest speed ever aboard an aircraft.
Kansas
SR-71A #17961 accumulated 1601 flight hours until February 2, 1977, the date of its last flight. It is currently on display between a Northrop T-38 Talon advanced trainer and a life-size replica of the Space Shuttle at the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center, Hutchinson, KS
Louisiana
At the 8th Air Force Museum, Barksdale AFB, LA, the SR-71A #17967 is on display, one of two examples reactivated in 1995 for USAF service before the program was canceled in 1998. Over the years, this aircraft accumulated more than 2700 flight hours.
Texas
At the USAF History and Traditions Museum, Lackland AFB, TX, is SR-71A #17979, which was used as a reconnaissance aircraft during Operation Giant Reach in the Egyptian-Israeli war.
Michigan
Two trainer variants were built, denoted SR-71Bs. One crashed on approach to Beale AFB on January 11, 1968, while the other, SR-71B #17956, is displayed at the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum in Kalamazoo, MI. This SR-71 has more flight hours than any other Blackbird, nearly 4000, and is believed to have been photographed more times than any other.
Nebraska
At the Strategic Air and Space Museum near Ashland, NE, SR-71A #17964 is on display. Its first flight took place in 1966, and the last in 1990, when it was delivered to Offutt AFB, NE, to be permanently exhibited
Ohio
The first operational ( Jerry O’Malley and Ed Payne) mission of an SR-71 was carried out by SR-71A #17976 before concluding its career with about 3000 flight hours. It is among the first SR-71s to be permanently exhibited and best preserved. It is displayed at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, Wright-Patterson AFB, OH.
Oregon
Below the right wing of Howard Hughes' H-4 Hercules at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, OR, is the most complete and accurate SR-71, SR-71A #17971, which has accumulated over 3500 flight hours.
Utah
As mentioned, after January 11, 1968, when half of the SR-71 trainer fleet was lost due to the crash of #17957, a replacement trainer was built, designated SR-71C #17981. This aircraft is currently on display at the Hill Aerospace Museum, Hill AFB, UT. Irregular maintenance procedures and aftermarket construction caused constant yaw of the aircraft; therefore, the SR-71C was used on a limited basis between 1969-1976.
Virginia
The state of Virginia hosts two SR-71s:
•SR-71A #17968 is displayed at the Science Museum in Richmond, VA. 2. The #972 at Udvar-Hazy

JACK DANIELS HOLSCLAW (1918-1998)
Tuskegee Airman Jack Daniels Holsclaw was born in Spokane, Washington, on March 21, 1918. His father, Charles, was a clerk in a downtown store, and his mother, Nell, was a manager at Pacific Telephone and Telegraph. Holsclaw attended North Central High School in Spokane, where he excelled both academically and athletically. When he was 15, he became the first black person in Spokane to earn the Eagle Scout badge.
Holsclaw entered Whitworth College in 1935 but transferred to Washington State College (now Washington State University) in 1936 to play baseball. Beginning in his junior year, he played center field and helped the Cougars finish as co-champions of the Northern Division, Pacific Coast Conference. He was the second African American earn a varsity letter in baseball at the college.
In 1939, Holsclaw transferred to a chiropractic program at Western States College in Portland, Oregon, where he met his wife, Bernice Williams. They had one son, Glen. Holsclaw completed the chiropractic program in 1942 and passed the Oregon state board examination.

How did Elvis took care of his awesome hair? 🚿🍃
Plus, a quick overview on one of the King's hairdressers and Memphis Mafia man, Larry Geller: How somewhat he was the friend Elvis needed and how Elvis' over-controlling inner circle banned Geller from their surroundings for a while.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I was actually looking if I could find Elvis' haircut name - precisely the type of haircut he had on the '68 Comeback Special and "Charro!" (1968), since I'm a girl and I have zero idea about the names for male haircuts but I just love that haircut he had so much I wanted to talk about it... anyway. But I found an article about Elvis' hair care routine and that sounds very interesting to me, so it might be something you wanna know too.
This is told by Larry Geller, so this means this was Elvis' hair routine starting from mid 60's on, precisely from 1964 to 1967, and possibly also from late 1972 to 1977 *, periods in which Larry was responsible for taking care of the King's hair.
Geller, who will be launching his own line of organic hair products later this year, tested out some of his first custom mixes on Elvis. “I used to go to the health food store and get a benign base shampoo and get some vitamin capsules and pour 99 percent pure aloe vera and other herbs into it, and shake it up,” Geller tells Yahoo Beauty. “That’s what I used on Elvis’ hair. He said to me, right from the get-go, ‘You can do whatever you want with my hair, but one thing — make sure I keep it!’” Source: Yahoo Beauty: Elvis Presley’s Hairstylist Spills the King’s Secrets by Lilit Marcus. The article was shared on a Graceland's website on January 28, 2014.
Elvis, you're the best, man. LOL. Just that comment is worth this entire post. It made me laugh. But the article goes on.
Then there was the daily routine. “I shampooed his hair regularly, usually every day. I would massage his scalp for a few minutes, then brush his hair at least 50 or 60 strokes. I was focused on long-term health of his hair, which was so important,” Geller explains. He also used products like vitamin E and jojoba oil to style Elvis’ hair and replace conditioner. Hairspray was used to set it, with Geller alternating multiple brands so that none of them would dry out Elvis’ coif too much. As for its color, Geller dyed Elvis’ hair every two to three weeks with a L’Oreal formula. What did the two men discuss during all that grooming? Religion, philosophy, books, life, and anything else you can think of. “Elvis had everything,” says Geller. “He was an extraordinary human being. He had the greatest eyes, the greatest voice, fans galore. He also had great hair.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Elvis in "Frankie and Johnny" and "Spinout", both 1966 movies.
Larry Geller styled Elvis’ hair for: "Roustabout" (1964), Girl Happy (1965), Tickle Me (1965), Harum Scarum (1965), Frankie and Johnny (1966), Paradise, Hawaiian Style (1966), Spinout (1966), Easy Come, Easy Go (1967), Double Trouble (1967), and Clambake (1967). Geller prepared Elvis’ hair for the last time for his funeral in August, 1977.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elvis' hair must have been so good smelling and soft. Washed every day, organic products to make it smooth and shiny as it was. 🫠🥹
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, if you want to understand why there's a pause in Larry's association with Elvis, here it is:
LARRY GELLER QUITS WORKING FOR ELVIS IN 1967: INDIRECTLY CAUSED BY ELVIS' HEAD INJURY POSTPONING THE FILMING FOR 'CLAMBAKE'.
On March 9, 1967, Elvis was staying in him home in Bel Air, Los Angeles, and one incident (Elvis tripped over a TV cord in his bathroom and banged his head against a porcelain bathtub) caused the beginning of the production for the movie "Clambake", for which he was preparing to, to be postponed. Colonel Parker was fuming when he heard about the need for Elvis to take a couple of weeks of resting to recover from the mild concussion he had. It was a critical moment in Elvis' life. By the time the filming begun, Elvis even put up some weight from his normal 170 lb (77 kg) to 200 lb (91 kg) — I said it before, whenever this happened to Elvis' body it was because he was extremely distressed. He was an emotional eater.
Getting back to the accident, Parker even thought Elvis did it on purpose not to fulfill his Hollywood commitment since Presley clearly was not happy about his movies anymore, something Parker somehow blamed it on Elvis' spiritual quest. He pulled some strings to manipulate Elvis to remove Larry Geller from his inner circle by saying to him that all that spiritual thing was getting too much into his head, distracting him from his business obligations. If not enough Parker said to Presley that Larry Geller was brainwashing him because of some personal agenda he must have had in his mind — it's mentioned by someone, somewhere (i'm sorry, I'm not gonna remember where I've read it now) that Geller was planning on using Elvis' money to open a religious study center or something like that).
Basically, Parker thought Larry was a threat because if Elvis decided in throwing his career away, like some say he was by becoming a preacher, Parker would lose his most profitable and only client. Consequently all the religion and spiritual "shit" (as they called) that Larry Geller had put inside the King's head (as they thought), presenting him with many books and having deep conversations for hours with Elvis about several religious and spiritual subjects but not exclusively that, they also talked about meditation and self improvement as a human beings, astrology and so on, all of that was threatening Parker's plans over Elvis.
But Parker didn't make it on his own. Even Priscilla says in her memoir book that Elvis was obsessively reading non-stop and wanting to share his learning with everybody else, but his friends and herself didn't care about none of this self-improvement and religious talk. His inner circle even looked at Presley's spiritual quest as somewhat annoying, including Priscilla. Their thoughts about Larry Geller were something like "Larry changed his mind. Elvis is not spending time with us as he used to." Ugh!
Nobody actually told Larry to leave, tho, and Elvis wouldn't do such thing if he didn't have a good reason to - until this point Larry was a confidant to him, one of the only people he could talk about life and wonder what was God's plan for him, his true life mission, something Elvis would never cease trying to understand. However, Elvis' inner circle and Colonel Parker begun making Geller feel uncomfortable, unwelcome among the group, while they took Elvis' attention back to them, practically forcing Geller to decide to finally leave and go away for good, and he did it. But it was not something definite.
Many things happened in Elvis' life since Larry Geller and him went different ways but by August 1972, tho, Geller got back in contact in Elvis when he attended one of Presley's concerts in Las Vegas, and from then on Larry begins working for Elvis again, till the end of the King's life in 1977.

YOU GUYS, I COMPLETELY FORGIT ABT THIS AU, SHOULD I WRITE IT? (It’s a Harry Potter AU and I found some notes that I wrote down. I’m gonna change some of it but STILL)
Something I wanted to make clear, Miss Kathy, the librarian, is a character I added in memory of my grandmother. My grandmother loved Harry Potter with all of her heart as it was something her and my grandfather used to read together. Her name was Kathy with a K and I thought that if I was going to add a librarian, it has to be her! So I get to share a little bit of my grandmother with you guys as the characters attitude, humor, personality, and description is exactly like my grandmother (or as close as I could get)
Kathy J. 1952 - 2021 (She would have been 73 this year)
Overview/information
Ponyboy lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma, but he lives on a street called privet drive.
He’s not being abused by anyone, and everyone in the gang is aged up. Not only that, this is set in 1991 so Ponyboy was born in 1980, let me put the gangs ages and birthdays rq
Darry - 28, January 21st, 1963
Two-bit - 27, April 1st 1964
Dallas - 26, November 4th, 1965
Steve - 25, December 6th, 1966
Sodapop - 25, October 8th, 1966
Johnny - 24, March 1st, 1967
Pony - 11, July 22nd, 1980
The reason for the age gap between Ponyboy and his brothers is because after Sodapop, the Curtis parents were told they couldn’t have anymore children. Sodapop and Darry always wanted another little brother but were told by their parents they just couldn’t have one.
So when Mrs. Curtis got pregnant a few months before Darry’s 17th birthday, Everyone, including the gang, were very excited, especially Sodapop.
One day, Ponyboy and his parents went to the grocery store, but in their way back got in a car accident and died…well, that’s what it looked like, at least. Voldemort actually tried to kill Ponyboy but ended up failing. (Que the boy who lived!)
Ponyboys parents did know about the wizarding world, their great grandparents were very rich witches and wizards. But after an incident, a curse was put on the family so no Wizard could be born into the family again, until Ponyboy came along.
No, Sodapop and Darry aren’t wizards, they didn’t even know about the wizarding world until now.
Darry was able to get custody of both Ponyboy and Sodapop (Sodapop would have been 15 and Ponyboy would have been 1)
And just so you don’t have to do the math, Darry was 17, Two-bit was 16, Dallas was 15, Steve was 14, Sodapop was 14, and Johnny was 13 when Ponyboy was born.
Yes, Ponyboy has the scar and glasses.
Now, this is my AU so I’m making Ron the youngest because I wholeheartedly hate Ginny with all of my being.
Now, Ron is still gonna end up with Hermione, Neville with Luna, Draco with Pansy, but I want Ponyboy to end up with a boy. Like, he will still kiss Cho, but that’s like, his gay awakening, you catch my drift
(I, personally, am Bi, so I wanna add some LGBTQ element in the story, so why not make it the main love focus?)
I was thinking he could end up with Dean Thomas or Seamus Finigin, maybe even Cormac Laggin or Collin Creevy. Or I could make up a character but I prefer not to add Ocs, so if you guys have any ideas on who he should end up with, let me know.
It needs to be someone that can replace Ginny, but not be apart of the Weasley family.
I’m not gonna give Darry or anyone in the gang a serious girlfriend or wife because I want the ENTIRE FOCUS on pony. I might keep Evie and Silvia, maybe even Cathy (M&Ms older sister from that was then this is now) as two’s girlfriend. But Sandy is gone and Johnny and Darry are single Pringles.
I figured out the statistics for ponyboy and here they are
Patronus (won’t be important till later) - Pieball Mare (a horse lol)Companion - black and white spotted cat with black socks and a mustache (Green eyes) named Oreo (do you guys have a better name idea?)Wand - See chapter 2
Serious black is his Godfather, Lily Curtis and Darrel Curtis made sure of that

Poster for the film Super Giant 6 - The Spaceship and the Clash of the Artificial Satellites (January 3, 1958). This was the second half of a story that began in Super Giant 5 - The Artificial Satellite and the Destruction of Humanity (December 28, 1957). Both films were later edited together for US television by Walter Manley Enterprises to become the Starman film Attack From Space (1965).
This was the last two-parter in the Super Giant series; the final three films were stand-alone stories.
This was also the last film in the series directed by Teruo Ishii, who had directed all the previous films. He left the series after a young boy imitating Super Giant leaped out a window and was very seriously injured.

Pride Collection CC Kit by make_it_sizzle
Tumblr media
I’m excited to announce the release of my Pride Collection CC Kit. On this special month of June, we celebrate Juneteenth and Pride month. As an African American man who also happens to be gay and play The Sims, creating this CC kit was so important for me.  I truly feel as though the spirit of Storme DeLarverie should be in each and every one of us, which is why I named one of my CC items after them.
Below is a brief history of the two holidays.
If you do not already know, Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States. Celebrated annually on June 19th, its origins date back to 1865. On June 19, 1965, General Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved people were now free. However, the enslaved people had no idea they had already been emancipated. That June 19th announcement arrived 2 and a half years after President Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1st, 1863.
The first Pride was a riot. Pride Month is an annual celebration of many of the contributions made by the LGBTQ+ community to cultures, society, and history worldwide. Pride commemorates its roots in the Stonewall Riots that occurred on June 28th, 1969. As was a common practice in many cities, the New York Police Department (NYPD) would occasionally raid bars where gays and lesbians were known to gather. On June 28, police dragged patrons and employees out of Stonewall In, a popular gay bar in Manhattan, New York, and several people fought back against the NYPD. It was said that Storme DeLarverie, a gay rights activist, threw the first punch at the riot. A crowd of people slowly but surely grew which turned into a 6 day protest which was led largely by Black LGBTQ+ women that marched the streets of Manhattan.

HEROS OF THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR
Roza Georgiyevna Shanin
3 April 1924 – 28 January 1945
Roza Shanina was a graduate of the Central Women's Sniper Training School credited with 59 confirmed kills.
Shanina volunteered for the military after the death of her brother in 1941 and chose to be a sniper on the front line. Praised for her shooting accuracy, Shanina was capable of precisely hitting enemy personnel and making doublets (two target hits by two rounds fired in quick succession).
In 1944, a Canadian newspaper described Shanina as "the unseen terror of East Prussia". She became the first servicewoman of the 3rd Belorussian Front to receive the Order of Glory.
Shanina was killed in action during the East Prussian Offensive while shielding the severely wounded commander of an artillery unit. Shanina's actions received praise during her lifetime, but conflicted with the Soviet policy of sparing snipers from heavy battles. Her combat diary was first published in 1965.

A MULTI-INSTRUMENTALIST MUSICIAN 🎸🎹🎙️🎶
Tumblr media
Voice is an instrument but it certainly was not the only talent Elvis Presley had in his life. He played guitar, piano and sometimes even bass for his recordings, being specially skilled on the piano, but often fooled around with other instruments like the drums, accordion, ukulele, flute and even violin. He couldn't read or write music and had no formal lessons but, as a natural musician, he played music by ear. He would simply hear a song, pick up an instrument, and play.
Let's see some pictures.
GUITAR: It was the first instrument Elvis had real experience with. By the age of 11 his mother gifted him with a guitar she purchased for his birthday (January 8, 1946) at Tupelo Hardware store for $7.75. He used that guitar all through high school, and even in his early career. He owned many more, and much nicer, guitars during his career, and used many prop guitars in his movies. One of the most famous ones is the 1955 Martin D-28, used by EP in his early career during the Sun Records era. It had a custom made tooled leather cover with his name "Elvis Presley" blazoned across the front. If you want to learn more about Elvis' guitars, I recommend you to visit scottymoore.net.

PIANO: About the pics of Elvis in 1956 playing the piano while Liberace plays his guitar, I find it very interesting considering what kind of musician Liberace was. He was a prodigious talent with the piano (began playing the piano at the age of 4). Elvis must have felt very confident to play the instrument around him. EP's friends spoke many times about how EP was great playing the piano. It was his instrument, despite being best remembered with his guitar in his hands. Over time he got better and better. Elvis played the piano for recording sessions and onstage throughout his career.

BASS: When The Beatles visited Elvis in California in 1965, they all jammed, with Elvis on bass.

ACCORDION, VIOLIN AND CLARINET*:

Update: Apparently, the last instrument is a clarinet, not a flute, and EP is playing around with it other than seriously playing. It's typical of him. Some of them he really dedicated himself to learn, some others he played just to joke around with his friends. The intention with the post is actually just show how Elvis was curious about instruments and music and general.

Jimmy Page’s long lost jam session with one of blues’ greats
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While looking for rare Jimmy Page/Led Zeppelin records to add to my collection, I stumbled upon an album containing recordings from a lesser known jam session, having taken place during Jimmy’s session musician days in early 1965.
The album was first released in 1972 in France, then on the Springboard label in 1975 to capitalize on Led Zeppelin’s unprecedented popularity at the time. It features tracks from a session Jimmy Page did with Sonny Boy Williamson just before Sonny Boy left England for the very last time.
While some sources say the sessions took place in April 1964, they actually seem to have taken place on January 28, 1965 at IBC Studios. The musicians were:
• Jimmy Page: guitar
• Brian Auger: organ
• Ricky Brown: bass
• Mickey Waller: drums
• Joe Harriot & Alan Skidmore: saxes
There are some quotes from Mickey Waller (interviewed by Chris Welch) and some other info on the record in Bob Brunning’s Blues: The British Connection (earlier published as Blues in Britain).
There is also a more recently released 2CD edition of Sonny Boy Williamson in Britain containing all the sessions done by Williamson during his last stay in the country, including The Yardbirds, The Animals and the Jimmy Page/Brian Auger session.
Waller says: “We started at 10.00 am and it was all done by 1.00 pm. Also it was done completely live: there were no overdubs. We all sat in a circle and played.”
Sonny Boy got drunk, and his erratic sense of timing gave the musicians some trouble.
