Rysør - Brevikstranda 🚴‍♀️ 71,3km 🚴‍♀️

Vrijdag 28 juli

Vandaag staan er twee overtochten met de veerboot op het programma. Het vervelende is dat ik op tijd moet gaan rijden. Ik hou in eerste instantie enkel rekening met de tijd van de eerste oversteek, daarna zie ik het wel.

De eerste 15 kilometer zitten al in de benen wanneer ik in Rysør arriveer. Ik ben ruim op tijd en wanneer ik mijn fiets parkeer bij de ingang voor de boot, staan er nog twee fietsen bepakt en bezakt klaar voor de oversteek. Ik bekijk eerst het dorpje voor ik terugkeer bij mijn fiets.

De fietsen die klaarstonden voor de oversteek zijn van Inge en Hoite uit Nederland. Ik maak een gezellig praatje met ze. Kort hierna komt er een Noors echtpaar, Tormod en Ellen, aangefietst. Ook zij zijn uitgerust met volle fietstassen. Het blijkt dat we allemaal min of meer dezelfde richting op gaan, hetzij wel via verschillende routes.

Inmiddels arriveert de boot, een houten boot uit 1950 die nu nog steeds mensen vervoerd van Rysør naar Øsyang.

Eenmaal op de boot blijf ik gezellig kletsen. Bij aankomst zeggen we elkaar gedag, wetende dat we allemaal straks met dezelfde veerboot de volgende overstap zullen maken. Toch is het fijner om in mijn eigen tempo te fietsen. Ik stop immers om de haverklap om foto's te maken 😄😉.

Het is weer echt genieten vandaag. De ochtend begon dan wel bewolkt, de zon schijnt steeds feller en het wordt heerlijk aangenaam!

Om kwart voor een ben ik bij de volgende veerboot. Tormod en Ellen staan er ook net en kort na mij komen Inge en Hoite ook aangereden. Helaas is de veerboot van Stabbestad naar Kragerø net vertrokken. De volgende gaat pas tegen half drie. Nog even geduld dus.

De lange pauze geeft mij de mogelijkheid om mijn accu voor de zekerheid bij te laden bij een beachclub in de haven. Tot nu toe waren er al een paar pittige klimmetjes die al behoorlijk wat batterij hebben gekost. Wie weet wat er aan de overkant nog komt...

Na de oversteek met de boot is het behoorlijk klimmen en dalen. Het is echt veel pittiger om hier te fietsen dan verleden jaar in Oostenrijk. Het is goed dat ik mijn accu heb bijgeladen.

Onderweg neem ik nog een korte break bij een van de vele meren die naast de fjorden, havens en prachtige dorpjes overal langs dec route tevoorschijn komen.

Het lijkt in de verte slecht weer te worden. Tenminste donkere wolken komen opeens langs de kust tevoorschijn. Maar zo snel als het, zo snel is het ook weer weg.

In Brevikstranda vind ik een camping. De Noren zijn ergens in een hotel beland en Inge en Hoite kozen voor een camping iets vanaf de route. Misschien zie ik ze morgen wel weer 😊.

Tormod en Ellen hebben zowel Inge en Hoite als mij ben hen thuis uitgenodigd. Voor mij is het een klein ommetje, maar het lijkt mij superleuk om daar een stop te maken. Wie weet!

Op de camping staat er een man, Quan, uit Vietnam, wonend en werkend als publisher in Düsseldorf. Ook hij heeft zijn fiets bepakt en fiets ongeveer dezelfde tour als ik tussen Kristianssand en Göteborg, alleen is hij al gestart in Hamburg en eindigt hij daar ook weer op de fiets. We kletsen wat bij en om 22.30 kruip ik mijn tentje in.

Tot nu toe een prachtige route, mooi weer en veel leuke mensen ontmoet die ook echte fietsliefhebbers zijn. Leuk!! 😁

También se presenta footage en el set de ‘Dick Tracy’ y ‘El cielo protector’, comenta sus teorías acerca de la luz y el color en narrativa, y resume la historia de la iluminación en el cine.

Retha Johnson 75

Mrs. Retha Ann Johnson age 75 of North Wilkesboro, passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at Villages of Wilkes.

Funeral services were October 1, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Hays with Rev. Jamie McGuire officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson was born August 28, 1944 in Wilkes County to Robert (Bob) Judson Johnson and Vallie Ester Blevins Johnson. She was a lifelong member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Hays.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister; Sue Johnson Pruitt, a sister in law; Grace Johnson and a brother in law; Bill Blevins.

She is survived by two daughters; Sherry Hall Wallace and husband George of Franklinton and Sandra Hall McGuire and husband Jamie of Millers Creek, five grandchildren; Cassandra McGuire, Tori Wallace Cortez and husband Johnny, Alix Wallace, Colin Wallace and Nikki Wallace, a sister; Mary Ellen Blevins of North Wilkesboro, two brothers; Rev. Cheslie Johnson of Hays, Perry Johnson and wife Sue of North Wilkesboro, and a brother in law; Ervin Pruitt of Hays.

Mary Sheppard, 71

Mary Lou Lunsford Sheppard, age 71, of Wilkesboro, passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. She was born June 21, 1948 in Wilkes County to Grover and Maie Hendren Lunsford. Mrs. Sheppard was a member of Cub Creek Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Bower Sheppard; granddaughter, Kayla Dubuque; grandson, Anthony Sheppard; brother, Coy Lunsford; and sister, Pauline Jarvis.

Surviving are her children, Beth Wood and spouse Jeff of North Wilkesboro, Mary Sales and spouse Donald of Ronda, Billy Sheppard and Kim Young both of Wilkesboro, Shane Sheppard and spouse Shelia of Purlear; grandchildren, Alicia Wood, Curtis Wood, Nicole Gwyn, Bill Hairston, Donavan Sheppard, Catlin Foster, Mason Foster; sisters, Irene Johnson and spouse Commie of Moravian Falls, Juanita Greene of Mulberry; brothers, Clyde Lunsford and spouse Debra of Moravian Falls, Billy Lunsford and spouse Vicie of North Wilkesboro; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

John Robinson, 47

John Paul (J.P.) Robinson, age 47, of Ferguson, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019. Mr. Robinson was born May 16, 1972 in Wilkes County to Johnny Wake and Ettie Sue Watts Robinson. J.P. loved fishing, cooking, old cars and shooting guns. Most of all he loved his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faith Robinson; his mother; sister, Sandra Wyatt; and a brother, Ronald Robinson.

Surviving are his sons, Jessie Lee Robinson and spouse Haleigh and Darrell Lee Knight all of Millers Creek; his father, Johnny Wake Robinson of Millers Creek; sister, Linda Robinson of Millers Creek; brother, Fred Allen Robinson and spouse Vallerie of Millers Creek; several nieces and nephews; and his fur baby, Tink.

Funeral service was September 30, at Miller Funeral Chapel with Rev. Stanley Wyatt officiating.

Hallie Church, 82

Mrs. Hallie Christine Bullis Church, age 82 of Boomer, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at Westwood Hills Nursing.

Funeral services were September 29, at New Light #2 Baptist Church on Vannoy Road with Rev. Jim Belcher officiating. Burial was in the Church family cemetery.

Mrs. Church was born December 8, 1936 in Wilkes County to Mamie Lee Adams Bullis. She was retired from Charmette Beauty Salon where she worked as a Hairdresser. Mrs. Church was a member of New Light #2 Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, her first husband; Walter Church, and a son; Kimberly Dale Church.

She is survived by her husband; Buford Nichols of the home, three sons; Kevin Church and wife Geneva of Millers Creek, Lang Derwin Church and wife Linda of Millers Creek and Scott Dowell Church and wife Patsy of Millers Creek, six grandchildren; Shannon Church, Tasha Wdowiak and husband Andrew, Walter Church and wife Jessica, Nathan Church, Matthew Church and Daniel Church, three great grandchildren; Westson Wdowiak, Aubrey Wdowiak and Kyle Church, a sister; Crystal Roberts and husband Doug of North Wilkesboro and two brothers; Harvey Bullis and wife Brenda of Hickory and Ricky Bullis of Millers Creek.

Mrs. Mary Frances Jenkins Wyatt age 74 of Purlear, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at her home.

Funeral services were September 27, at Reins Sturdivant Chapel with Rev. Timothy Wayne Moose, Jr., Rev. Tommy Brown and Rev. Onnie Langley officiating. Burial was in Scenic Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Wyatt was born May 4, 1945 in Ashe County to Conley and Effie Darnell Jenkins. Mary was a devoted pastor's wife for 40 years, was a loving mother, grandmother and a friend to all. She was a member of Church of God of Prophecy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Wyatt is survived by her husband; Rev. Roy Hampton Wyatt whom she was a faithful wife to for 58 years, three daughters; Lisa Wyatt Smith and husband, Dexter of Ash, Anita Wyatt Caldwell and husband Timothy of North Wilkesboro and Valerie Wyatt Key and husband Matthew of Millers Creek, twelve grandchildren; Timothy Wayne Moose, Jr., Daniel Lee Moose, Laura Michelle Smith, Matthew Forrest Prevette, Jennifer Ashley Key, Andrea Nicole Moose, Emilee Faith Prevette, Joshua Garrett Mosteller, Madison Lynn Caldwell, Brianna Hope Key, Landon Michael Caldwell and Carrie Ann Alyssa Key, six great grandchildren; Jordan Alan Miller, Philip Matthew Moose, Hunter Lee Moose, Liam Matthew Prevette, Samuel Ryan Moose and Jeremiah Wayne Moose, a sister; Midge Allen and husband Jim of Millers Creek and a brother; Roger Jenkins and wife Lola of Hiddenite.

Alma Wiles, 94

Alma Elledge Wiles, age 94, of North Wilkesboro, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health-Wilkes Regional. Alma was born May 24, 1925 in Wilkes County to James Spencer and Lura Harrold Elledge. She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in Moravian Falls and was previously employed with Martin Marietta Aviation and Missile Builders as a secretary. Mrs. Wiles was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Franklin Wiles, Jr.; siblings, Cecil Elledge, Lexie Fraiser, Ruth Ledbetter and Faye Elledge; and nephew, Dennis Fraiser.

She is survived by her nieces, Deborah Fuller and Kellie McLaughlin; and nephew, James S. Elledge.

Graveside service was September 27, at Mountlawn Memorial Park.

Jackie Rogers, Jr, 34

Mr. Jackie Leonard Rogers, Jr. better known as Little Jack, age 34 of Purlear passed away September 23, 2109 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Funeral services were September 28, at Purlear Baptist Church with Pastor Jamie McGuire officiating.

Mr. Rogers was born February 6, 1985 in Concord North Carolina. He was a Brick Mason by trade. Mr. Rogers was a member of Purlear Baptist Church.

He is survived by his parents; Jackie Rogers, Sr. and wife Debbie Reed Rogers, three sisters; Deanna Carpenter of Purlear, Elizabeth Belush and husband Matthew of Kannapolis and Kayla Smith and husband Jon of Boone and three brothers; Scott Richards and wife Carla of Hays, Mark Rogers of Wilkesboro and Daniel Rogers and wife Diana of Massachusetts.

Mrs. Geraldine Brooks Rhodes, age 73 of Hays passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Rhodes was born May 11, 1946 in Wilkes County to Amos Brooks and Lettie Billings Brooks. She was a Homemaker and Poultry Farmer and a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church. Geraldine was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters; Gladys Wood and husband Eli, Hazel Brooks, Edna West and husband Royal, two brothers; Arvie Brooks and Garness Brooks and a brother in law; Daniel Brown.

She is survived by her husband of fifty five years Otto Lonnie Rhodes, Jr. of the home, two daughters; Lisa Rhodes Hall and husband James of Ferguson, Denise Rhodes Wilson and husband Rick of Hays, five grandchildren; Joshua Hall, Nathan Hall, Elizabeth McCann and husband Brigg Adams, Rebekah Wilson and Reece Wilson, a sister; Arlene Brown of Salisbury and three brothers; Harlis Brooks and wife Darsie of Winston Salem, Jerry Brooks of Roaring River, Roger Brooks and wife Barbara of Roaring River and two sister in laws; Annie Ruth Brooks and Shirley Brooks.

Susan Holland, 65

Mrs. Susan Love Holland, age 65, of Conover went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, August 23, 2019 at Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Susan was born on December 24, 1953 in Statesville. Her father, Larry Edward Love (L.E.) preceded her in death.

Susan was a graduate of Wilkes Community College and worked for several years in North Wilkesboro in banking and data processing. Until her illness became too advanced, Susan worked at Connections, a psychosocial, rehabilitation clubhouse of Catawba Valley Behavioral Health Care, an ongoing community support program in Hickory. Susan contributed much to the Clubhouse and designed, edited and produced a monthly newsletter for the community. Known for her generous heart, Susan was a loving daughter, devoted mother, caring sister and kind spirit.

She is survived by her mother, Geraldine Love of North Wilkesboro; her son, Eric Holland of Greenville; three brothers, Steve Love of North Wilkesboro, Roger Love of Salisbury, and Randy Love of Rockingham; a sister, Dr. Sandra Swaringen of Wilkesboro; two nieces, Dr. Shanna Swaringen of Chapel Hill, Dr. Megan Swaringen of North Wilkesboro; and four nephews, Bradford Love of Knightdale, Wesley Love of Salisbury, Andrew Love of Raleigh and Brian Love of Rockingham.

A private graveside service was held on August 26, 2019 at Arbor Grove Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro with Pastor and Friend Michelle Staley officiating. Memorials may be made to Arbor Grove Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro or to Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Miller Funeral Service kindly served the family with compassion, comfort and support.

Mary Lovette, 78

Mary Jo Lowe Lovette, 78, of Moravian Falls, died peacefully in her sleep on Sept. 23, 2019.

She was born Aug. 25, 1941, in Wilkes County to Perry Roosevelt Lowe Sr. and Mary Revis Lowe. She graduated from Pembroke State University with a degree in home economics and taught school in Wilkes County for 20 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for more than 40 years and Daughters of the American Revolution for 27 years. She was lover of genealogy and was often called the Lowe family historian.

She was a long-time member of the Moravian Falls Methodist Church until its closure and spent her final days as a member of the Reformation Lutheran Church in Taylorsville.

She was preceded in death by three older brothers: Clyde R. Lowe, Perry R. Lowe Jr. and Caney Lowe.

She is survived by a daughter, Revis (Ann) Lovette Felts and husband Todd of Wilkesboro; son, David E. Lovette Jr. and wife Kim of Hope Mills, N.C.; and five grandchildren: David E. (Ty) Lovette III, Ben Lovette, William Lovette, Meredith Felts and Olivia Felts.

Memorial service was Sunday, Sept. 29 at Miller Funeral Home Chapel in North Wilkesboro.

Mr. Timothy Odell Teague, age 60 of North Wilkesboro, died Friday, September 20, 2019 at Wake Forest Baptist Health - Wilkes Medical Center.

Funeral services were September 25, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel with Pastor Lane Roark officiating. Burial was in Mountlawn Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Teague was born July 24, 1959 in Wilkes County to Clint Isaac and Dessie Marie Handy Teague.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clint Isaac Teague.

He is survived by his mother, Dessie Marie Handy of Hays; his son, Gary Teague and wife, Christina, of North Wilkesboro; his grandchild, Kendall Teague; his three sisters, Diana Kilby and husband, Larry, of Roaring River, Nina Bozeman and husband, Billy, of Wilkesboro, and Darlene Patrick of Virginia; and his three brothers, Denny Teague and wife, Debbie, of North Wilkesboro, David Teague of Hays, and Curtis Teague and wife, Myra, also of Hays.

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 20, 2019) – The Costume Designers Guild announced today that Emmy-nominated writer, producer, author, director and actor Mindy Kaling will host the 22nd CDGA (Costume Designers Guild Awards) taking place on January 28, 2020 at The Beverly Hilton. Executive Produced by JumpLine and sponsored by Westfield Century City and Campari®, the awards ceremony celebrates excellence in film, television, and short form Costume Design. As previously announced, this year’s honorees include Mary Ellen Fields (Distinguished Service Award), Michael Kaplan, (Career Achievement Award), Adam McKay(Distinguished Collaborator Award), and Charlize Theron (Spotlight Award). Presenters joining J.J. Abrams on stage will be revealed in the coming weeks. Nominees for the 22ndCDGA will be announced on December 10, 2019. “I’m thrilled to be hosting the Costumes Designers Guild Awards. Costume design and fashion are close to my heart, and I promise many, possibly too many, outfit changes,” said Kaling. ABOUT MINDY KALING Emmy-nominated writer, producer, New York Times best-selling author, director and actor Mindy Kaling has been named one of the brightest voices of her generation. At the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, Kaling premiered her debut screenplay titled Late Night. With a cast including Emma Thompson, Reid Scott, Ike Barinholtz, Amy Ryan, John Lithgow and Kaling herself, the film received critical acclaim at the opening weekend of the festival and sold to Amazon Studios for a record setting $13 million US rights deal. Late Night opened in the US on June 7th, 2019. At 24, Kaling joined the eight person writing staff of “The Office” as the only woman. Med utgangspunkt i Teknisk museums nye utstilling, FOLK – fra rasetyper til DNA-sekvenser, aarangeres Researchers’ Night (18 års aldersgrense), i samarbeid med Forskningsdagene, fredag 28. sept. kl. 18-23 på Teknisk museum

Making Sense Together Dette arrangementet føyer seg inn i en lang rekke forskningsbaserte satsinger, i regi av Teknisk museum/Medisinsk museum. Museet ønsker å legge til rette for diskusjon og kunnskapsutvikling innen temaer som moderne genetikk, psykisk helse og psykiatrihistorie og forskning på, og forvaltning av, menneskelige levninger.

– Publikums egne betraktninger er interessante for det forskningsarbeidet museet driver. Vi inviterer derfor til workshoper og dialogiske samtalebord («Ting») flere steder i utstillingene, der fagpersoner og publikum møtes til refleksjon og erfaringsutveksling rundt aktuelle problemstillinger, forteller prosjektleder for arrangementet, Gro Ellefsen.

Samtale med Adam Rutherford En samtale med den kjente genetikeren og programlederen i BBC, Adam Rutherford står på kveldens mangfoldige program. Han er forfatteren av boken A Brief History of Everyone who Ever Lived, der han kaster lys på moderne genetikk og hva genene forteller om vår historie som mennesker. Han slår blant annet fast at det for genetikere ikke gir mening å snakke om ulike menneskelige «raser».

Samtalen foregår på engelsk mellom Rutherford og kurator for utstillingen FOLK og vitenskapshistoriker ved Teknisk museum, Ageliki Lefkaditou. Samtalen vil blant annet dreie seg om hvordan vi kan forstå det komplekse bildet av menneskelig biologisk variasjon med utgangspunkt genetisk forskning.

Genetikkmiljøer har gjennom store prosjekter sekvensert utallige mengder menneskelig DNA, også gammelt DNA, hentet fra museenes magasiner, gjerne kalt aDNA. Tolkningen av disse dataene endrer forståelsen av menneskets historie. Likevel er det mange hull, som vi kanskje ikke vil kunne fylle. Hvordan bidrar genforskningen til kunnskap om menneskelig fortid?

Journalister er velkommen til å dekke arrangementet og tilliggende temaer, og kan også få intervju med Adam Rutherford og andre bidragsytere under Researchers’ night.

18.00-21.00 Workshop: #makingsensetogether – et prosjekt i skjæringspunktet mellom kunst, forskning og formidling, ved filmskaper Ellen Ugelstad.

Prosjektet har som mål å utforske grensene mellom kreativitet, sjel og psyke. På nettsiden www.makingsensetogether.no finnes spesifikke oppgaver hvor du blir invitert til å sende inn et bidrag. Gjennom å omsette egne erfaringer enten det er en tekst, tegning eller et instagram-bilde kommuniserer publikum med hverandre og med prosjektets intensjoner.

Prosjektet er forankret i filmen med samme navn. I likhet med de fleste andre filmene Ellen Ugelstad har laget reflekterer den rundt psykisk helse, makt og avmakt, normalitet og avvik.

18.30-21.30 Workshop: Kategorisering av personlighet. Innledes av psykolog Christian Schlüter. Innledningen gis på norsk.

Å putte andre i en kategori er noe vi gjør automatisk. Det er ikke nødvendigvis noe negativt, da det er viktig å finne ut hva slags person vi har foran oss. Samtidig gir det grunnlag for fordommer. I psykisk helsevern skjer noe tilsvarende. Ved hjelp av tester og intervjuer forsøker vi å finne ut om pasienten lider av uhensiktsmessige personlighetstrekk. Personlighetsdiagnostikk er imidlertid ingen enkel affære, for hvilke områder eller skal vi velge ut, hvor går grensen mellom en frisk og en usunn personlighet – og representerer kategoriene egentlig «natur»?

Psykologspesialist Christian Schlüter innleder Legoworkshopen der oppgaven er å bygge en personlighet. Man kan bygge din egen eller andres – alene eller sammen med andre. Schlüter vil være tilgjengelig for konsultasjon og inspirasjon.

19.00-19.30 Performance essay: skin + bones//with-nessingwhiteness by artist and PhD-candidateStaceySacks.

The performance will be in English.

Via multiple materialities including character, mask, animation and clown Stacey Sacks’ improvising artistic research project in the performing arts explores haunting intersections of history, performing 18and animating questions of whiteness, privilege and colonial knowledge. As an attempt (and possible failure) to transform historical experiences and the current geo-political context into aesthetic and critical expressions, it is a creative experimentation with theory and performance, complicating notions of representation and mimicry whilst digging through remnants of collective memory and personal shame. For the exhibition FOLK, Sacks offers encounters with the characters Stanley G and Granny in the hope of entering difficult conversations. 

20.00-20.45 Conversation: DNA-gap: What's missing in the history of everyone who has ever lived? Writer, geneticist and broadcaster Adam Rutherford in conversation with curator and Historian of Science Ageliki Lefkaditou. The conversation will be in English.

We now have discovered thousands of ancient bones and have sequenced countless human genomes. The interpretation of data from these resources is changing our understandings of human history. Still there are many gaps to fill, and many gaps that we will simply not be able to fill. What’s itching and what’s missing in the history of everyone who has ever lived? What has genetics research contributed to our knowledge of human past? How are we to grasp the complex picture of human biological variation emerging from this research?

21.00-21.30 TING: Cultural Appropriation Blues. A conversation on cultural appropriation in music with DJ AlliMeir and DJDID.

21.00-21.30 TING: Hva kan vi lære av en mumie? Samtale rundt de menneskelige levningene på museet, ved konservator Ellen Lange. Samtalen vil foregå på norsk.

Mumien «Maren i myra» er stilt ut i den delen av medisinsk museums utstillinger som omhandler kolerautbrudd i Norge på 1850-tallet. Mumien illustrerer eldre smitteteori. Men den pirrer nysgjerrigheten på en rekke vis. Har den for eksempel spor av kolera, og kan det testes? Og vet vi at det er ei jente?  

«Maren» er én av en samling på flere hundre menneskelige levninger. Prosjektet og utstillingen Skjeletter i skapet ønsker å åpne for en bred diskusjon med relevante aktører om hvordan dette materialet best kan håndteres.

På forskernatten samles vi rundt levningene for å utveksle spørsmål, perspektiv og kompetanse.

21.30-22.10 Lectureperformance: Are We Not DrawnOnward, WeFeW, drawnOnwarD to NeWerA by artist Martin White based on themuseums' archive from psychiatrist Carl Wilhelm Sem-Jacobsen.

A lecture performance that exposes the work and archive of Norwegian psychiatrist Carl Wilhelm Sem-Jacobsen, today in the archive of The Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology. Sem-Jacobsen's experimental psychosurgery was performed at Gaustad Hospital, Oslo, between 1956 and 1977 and was funded by agencies in North America including the Ford Foundation and various departments of the U.S. Military.

Australian born, Oslo based artist Martin White works at the intersection of documentary and speculation. Whilst he intends to unsettle systems beyond those of the art world, his conceptual motivations pivot on issues relating to social politics and cultural history. He completed his MFA at the Norwegian National Academy of Art in Oslo in 2017. He has upcoming solo shows at Podium and Oslo Kunstforening, both in 2019. 1

Ideen om menneskeraser har ikke bare bidratt til å legitimere urett og skape menneskelig lidelse, den har også ført vitenskapen på villstrå i arbeidet med å beskrive og forklare biologiske forskjeller mellom mennesker og utforske menneskehetens evolusjonshistorie.  Omvisingen gir et innblikk i viktige aspekt ved den vitenskapelige rasetenkningens historie, peker på hvordan tradisjonelle raseideer er i utakt med vår tids innsikt i human genetisk variasjon, og reiser spørsmålet om hvordan vitenskapelig utdaterte raseideer fremdeles påvirker oss
