Hi, I woke up today to texts from someone I love in frozen South Dakota. She's had a rough run of things lately, child support keeps being late and she's had car issues lately that she's fortunately been able to cover herself, but it's eaten into the very tiny savings she'd finally built up.

She has been taking on as much work as she can get cleaning houses to try to make up for missing child support, but her kids keep getting sick from school and then getting her sick which has made this challenging.

Today her autistic 9 yo was too sick to go to school and so my loved one had to call out of work to stay home and take care of the kiddo, while also being pretty sick herself.

She's done some math and these are the expenses she can't figure out how to cover:

Avalon the Falconer warframe

Avalon is based on a submission by @chronicler-of-narrative. I know someone submitted Falconer as an idea much earlier, but there wasn't enough substance behind it for it to stick. If I knew who it was I'd credit them. Probably Shadowpuppy or InfestedSlime, they've made a lot of submissions.

Passive: Avalon's Sentient symbiote, the falcon-like Accipalyst, is able to fight alongside her, behaving similar to a Sentinel companion which hovers and flies around her, attacking enemies that come within 12 meters with its sharp talons. The Accipalyst's maximum roaming and attack range scales with ability range. Similar to Khora's Venari the Accipalyst is treated as a customizable exalted companion which accepts Sentinel mods and can be used in addition to another regular companion. The Accipalyst's base stats are as follows:

The Accipalyst also includes its one-of-a-kind weapon the Accipalyst Talons which are also customizable and accept melee weapon mods. This weapon cannot be unequipped from the Accipalyst nor can it be equipped on any other companion. Its base stats are as follows:

Accipalyst Talons only uses standard melee attacks. It does not allow the Accipalyst to block or perform special attacks, nor does it have its own combo counter.

If the Accipalyst takes fatal damage it will attach itself to Avalon's back to recover, returning to full health and rejoining the fight after a 45 second delay. This delay is reduced by 3 seconds each time Avalon picks up a health or energy orb.

Ability 1A: Accipalyst Swoop, 25 energy. Tap to activate. Avalon commands her symbiotic Accipalyst to swoop down upon enemies in a 24 meter long, 30 degree cone in front of her as well as an 8 meter radius around her. All enemies within this area are stricken with an attack from the Accipalyst that deals 1.5x damage (scales with ability strength) and leaves the enemy marked for 10 seconds. The mark from Accipalyst Swoop strips 60% of enemy armor (scales with ability strength) and silences them, disabling most special abilities. This ability cannot be activated if the Accipalyst is recovering from fatal damage.

Ability 1B: Accipalyst Wing, toggled ability, drains 3 energy per second. Hold to activate. Activating Accipalyst Wing allows Avalon to project her consciousness into her symbiotic sentient, taking control of it, switching the camera perspective from the Warframe to the Accipalyst and allowing her to dictate its movements by aiming. While being controlled this way the Accipalyst behaves as if it has infinite punch-through against bodies. When the Accipalyst flies through or within 1 meter of an enemy it strikes them with an attack that deals 2.5x damage (scales with ability strength) and places a mark that lasts for 15 seconds and has the same effects as the mark left by Accipalyst Swoop. Avalon becomes invisible while Accipalyst Wing is active but the Accipalyst does not. This ability cannot be activated if the Accipalyst is recovering from fatal damage.

Ability 2: Nightwing, 50 energy. With a flourish of feathers Avalon renders herself and her companions invisible to enemies and increases her sprint speed by 50% (scales with ability strength) for the next 8 seconds. All enemies within 8 meters of Avalon will be staggered when Nightwing is activated and again when it deactivates. Activating Nightwing also instantly reloads Avalon's primary and secondary weapons, unless the Accipalyst is currently disabled by fatal damage.

Ability 3: Murder, 75 energy. Avalon conjures flocks of crows to harry and harass enemies around her, causing them to flee in panic while the conjured blackbirds peck at them mercilessly. When cast up to 20 enemies within 15 meters enter a state of panic while also receiving 100 points each of impact, puncture, and slash damage per second with 20% status chance for the next 15 seconds. While panicked, enemies will not attack and will haphazardly flee in random directions. If an enemy dies from damage caused by Murder there is a 50% chance that the effect will transfer onto a new unaffected enemy within 10 meters of the deceased enemy for the remainder of its duration.

Ability 4: The Harpy Rises, toggled ability, drains 3 energy per second plus an additional 1 energy for every melee attack. When the need is dire Avalon and her Accipalyst companion can become one, the wings of the Sentient falcon-beast merging with Avalon's own arms to become a transcendant hybrid being. Bladed feathers of glowing energy grow from Avalon's arms as the two become one, granting her new attacks and abilities. While The Harpy Rises is active Avalon is armed with a modified version of the Accipalyst Talons with doubled damage, a range of 3 meters, and attack animations similar to a set of tonfas. Additionally Avalon's jump height and bullet jump velocity are tripled in this form. Lastly, while Avalon and the Accipalyst are merged Avalon gains 50% of the Accipalyst's max health, max shields, and armor. However, while The Harpy Rises is active the Accipalyst is no longer active as a companion as it has physically merged with its master, and The Harpy Rises cannot be activated if the Accipalyst is recovering from fatal damage.

Subsumed ability: Nightwing (instant reload is disabled)

Signature Weapons Eleonora: Avalon's signature burstfire pistol with an innate multishot of three and firing in three-round bursts, even though each individual pellet fired from this gun deals relatively low damage the total of all nine projectiles in a round is substantial, and with minimal spread this weapon works wonders even at medium range. Moderate balance of fire rate & per-shot damage, moderate balance of magazine size to reload speed, high status at the cost of low crit. Deals mostly slash, moderate impact, and low puncture damage. When wielded by Avalon if all nine pellets in a burst hit the same enemy that enemy is knocked down. Parabuteo: What at first appears to be a single weapon with a circular blade is actually a pair of teardrop-shaped blades that fit perfectly together. Parabuteo is unique among melee weapons as it has two stance slots, one which only accepts Glaive stances and one which only accepts Dual Dagger stances, however neither of these slots is polarized by default. This weapon has unique heavy attack animations which throws both halves of this weapon separately, offering double the number of bounces. Upon returning from a heavy throw this weapon changes modes; when thrown while in glaive mode the weapon will become dual daggers upon return and when thrown while in dual dagger mode it will become a glaive again upon return. Detonating while mid-flight will apply a guaranteed blast status proc to all enemies within range. Both modes share moderate attack speed to per-hit damage balance, have high crit at the cost of low status, and deal mostly slash, moderate impact, and low puncture damage. In Avalon's hands this weapon's heavy attack windup is 30% faster.

Closing Notes: Most of Avalon's kit came together smoothly and comfortably, although her ult took some hard thought. I think I managed to put enough flexibility into her kit to allow her to approach a wide array of combat scenarios and engage them in a variety of ways without being spread too thin. Eleonora is named after the Eleonora's Falcon, a European falcon species that feeds on flying insects and smaller migratory birds. Parabuteo is the scientific name of the Harris's Hawk, a hawk species known for group hunting.
