do u even remember how we started following each other (the first time) i just saw ur one of my earliest remainingly-visible notes on ny art from TWENTY-TWENTY and im like damn 1. its been that long 2. what did we possibly have in common then kjsf was it just IDs.

literally not a clue. but the date range is about right. if i remember correctly there was a route 'hey that post was turf shit' dm b4 any real convo. 2020 i think? so mutuals? or just one way following? for that long. really have no idea. a real zero fandom overlap at the time. just IDs. and i liked your art.

now im sure you didnt send this to give me a research project but i have a blog so i dont have have a brain so. tracking ur ghost on my posts. earliest confirmed interaction i found. oct 5th 2020. I have the blessing of deciding what to eat for dinner. My roommate is a friend, not a stranger. My apartment maintenance is so friendly. I worked in my pj's today. There is a new day tomorrow to be softer and kinder. I have the power to make someone feel good and heard and seen. I have wide nail beds - apparently, this is a good thing. I have romance in my life, in the Saturday morning walk through the amish market, in the cozy soup simmering in the crock pot my mom bought, in the photos of my sisters cats, in the video of my niece as my lock screen, in the poetry I write for myself, in the new friend who feels like a kindred spirit, in seeing my family on sunday for the football game, in my uncle explaining every play, in the cookies I bake and always keep in my purse, in messaging him first even though it was scary, in every photo I take to remember, in the pages of a journal where I list every good thing, in the relief at finding so many.

The way I see it, and suspect you do as well, that depression is such a key part of John's character and arc. And honestly, the part that really drew me to DirkJohnDirk is the way two depressed idiots can somehow figure their way through. But this means to me that I can't imagine this pairing with either one being "well-adjusted" and "healthy", do you think a happier John or Dirk could still be compatible?

TLDR: Making one of them "well-adjusted" makes it loses the appeal why their dynamic is good. Because if one of them needs saving or help is a way they could ignore their own issues to focus or the other OR it also drives them to take care of themselves. o_o

(Unless if you have an au where Dirk works as a caretaker for a bedridden depressed John, which is my au that I'm making. Haha.)

My favorite post-canon dirkjohn fics where Dirk helps John and John helps Dirk respectively. :3 (as examples)

When Jace turned eight-and-ten and presented as an omega it shocked his family and the court and gave even more voice to the rumours that he and his two eldest brothers were bastards. The blood of Old Valyria had always given birth to Alpha males. Or they did, until Jace, the first male omega born to either House Velaryon or House Targaryen. 

In an effort to fight the doubt cast on his legitimacy, his mother quickly arranged his betrothal to his cousin Baela. The match would help cement support from House Velaryon when Rhaenrya took the throne, and by extension Jace, as it ties the two families even closer together. The Beta Targaryen was beautiful and every inch what the people expected from the blood of Old Valyria. 

Jace was prepared to do his duty and sire as many children as needed to secure his family's reign. To correct the mistake of his presentation even though the thought filled him with a sense of despair and wrongness. To ignore his body's desire for an Alpha, the feeling of being incomplete without one. He didn't need to be complete, he needed to do as duty demanded of him.

Then his grandsire died and civil war broke out as his uncle Aegon decided to usurp the throne from under his mother. Jace was tasked with gathering allies and he jumped at the opportunity to prove himself.

Jace was not prepared for Lord Cregan Stark and what the Alpha made him feel upon his arrival. The immediate attraction, the feelings of longing and desire which stirred in his gut. 

It took 3 days for Jace to end up face down amongst the furs on Lord Stark's bed. Duty forgotten as Cregan's cock was buried inside him, locking Jace on his knot and pumping the Prince full of his seed. 

Their bond snapped into place and for the first time in his life Jace felt right.
