It's been four days since Jamie got sick. She still feels awful. While Lily is in school and Sideswipe is teaching his class, Sunstreaker visits Jamie. That was expected, but Crosshairs didn't expect him to bring a medium box with him. "What did you buy?" Crosshairs asks. "A fluffy blanket, but Lily and Sideswipe wanted to make a care package." The two go into the bedroom.

Jamie is awake. She and Drift see the box. Sunstreaker tells them what he told Crosshairs as he opens the box. He takes out a fluffy red blanket. "This will keep you warm, unlike that thin one," Sunstreaker comments as he covers Jamie with the blanket, "I wasn't expecting Lily's mom, Lexie, to make cookies and insist I give you three a dozen after hearing Jamie is sick. The blanket is why I have this box. Lily and Sideswipe wanted to contribute further. I told them not to." Jamie grabs the bag of cookies. Sunstreaker is happy to hear Jamie has eaten today without worrying about throwing up. The three mechs watch her eat a cookie. Despite still coping with low energy and excessive daytime sleep, she now stays awake more during the day. Sunstreaker is told he, Sideswipe, and Lily can come on Saturday. However, Sunstreaker isn't sure because he doesn't want Lily to get sick and miss school. "We sure this is Sunstreaker?" Jamie jokes. "Still with that?" Sunstreaker complains. Jamie smiles, "you think you're so funny?" Sunstreaker tickles Jamie until she coughs, "all right, I'm going back to the base. Maybe we'll be back on Saturday." "I think she'll be recovered from the cold by then," Drift comments, "except for a possible persistent cough for a while." Sunstreaker leaves the room. After finishing the cookie, Jamie goes back to sleep.

There is a rumour, roaming in the streets of Crime Alley, about the origins of their red guardian. Some say he was summoned by the tears of the dead and men's last cry.

Quiet whispers would claim he is the horseman himself. Hearing the wheels and seeing the blood-red motorcycle, one might agree.

People would argue that he was crowned by the city. Pointing the way he comes from the shadows like the Bat, an embodiment of the city.

Others would associate his colors to Lady Death, Santa Muerte, arguing that he's wearing red for love, lust and passion. 

No one knows where he came from.

No one knew him as he first emerged in the Alley. It's like he just came to life one day, another lost kid who grew up.

His accent and his familiarity with the city only seem to insure he was created from its dark. Forged in the filthy snow of a parking lot, shaped by thousands of prayers

His rule is strict, but fair. He took over the alley in a few months only. He enforces his reign with a two-strike rule: first he shoots your knees, as a warning. Repeat that, and you will lose your life.

Those who watch him closely, notice things have changed, in a little while. His shadow is bigger, and his actions are more precise.

Soon enough, a new rumour comes to life:

The Red Hood had fought the Bat, and won. He stole the older legends' shadow. 

Now he's got an assistant, a partner, someone who is always by his side.

People call it Bat, as a reminder to it's origins.

People notice the colour, qnd fear. But some smart women recognise the colour, and remember.

Black represents total protection against black magic or sorcery, or conversely negative magic or for force directed against rivals and enemies.
