IT'S TIME FOR NEWS!

because there are news!

i won a thing.

i won a writer-scholarship for my wip The Five Senses and i am still over the moon and sort of helpless with myself. but i actually did it! it was an anonymous contest and the jury decided to award my project this way by only reading the first chapter and the summary. i will get a professional book-person as my mentor who will help me develop this project and ~ teach me the ways ~ to work on my weaknesses while i also get money to have the time to actually write on this. (help i actually need to write this now)

this is, of course, no agency or publishing deal yet, but it's such a big step to me and will look good in a potential query one day (when it's done). and most importantly, it's so much reassurment and motivation to me. someone "official" likes my work. i will need weeks to truly believe it x)

especially, since it's all happening in german and writing in german again after writing so much in english for so long has been... just weird. my german writing always sounds 10 times worse to me x) so yeah! those were big news number 1! and also regarding these news:

synopsis

They called the Crown Prince of Alesria a mystery. An enigma. A legend, a cautionary tale. They whispered that Prince Aurelian had been a refined young man, calm and serene, the perfect gentleman. Snuffed out in his prime.

But Bramble knew better.

He knew better, because Aurelian Stellaris was as far from refined as could be, was the opposite of calm and serene. As long as he lived, Bramble would never forget the day when, at twelve years old, the two of them had set a captive pegasus free. He would never forget Aurelian’s wild, carefree laughter when they ran for their lives. He would never forget the best of times, sunrises and sunsets and playful banter captured on Aurelian’s canvas, days spent adventuring the woods, nights spent on a hilltop in the shade of a willow tree, the strings of his guitar singing out in the breeze.

Bramble would always remember his best friend’s life, intertwined as it was with his. As it always would be.

Now, if only he could lift the incurable sleeping curse his mother had cast on Aurelian, causing him to fall into a magically-induced coma, that would be just wonderful.

b.   connor xiao: straight a student everyone hates. he has like heavenly visuals that xavier keeps pointing out in his no-homo proses. he doesn’t actually want to do this business management course and shit but his father won’t let him out of it. he likes motorbiking and skateboarding n shit is basically a neutral good who drinks respect women juice every morning. 

c.   nadine james: bro chaotic is her middle name. she will definitely kick all your asses and jump of a building to prove a point. the combined chaotic genius of xavier and nadine is enough to rock all of america’s economy tbh. she likes learning skills in martial arts and has a black belt in taekwondo. she’s a lone wolf who likes people but doesn’t think much of skinship and to some degree, even dislikes it. 

c.    adrien dasgupta: dude this guy seriously doesn’t deserve all this shit. like. why do bad things keep happening to him. a child basically. he runs away from his house and his school in another town and hides in the backyard of delton prep’s dining hall where nadine finds him and basically adopts him since she lives off campus. he’s crazy smart and all and a little too trusting. it actually suprises him when ppl care about him. baby boy. baby.

THE MAGIC OF ALL FLOWERS WILT EVENTUALLY

Magic is the life force that energises the entire world of AFWE, and is thought to be sentient. The inhabitants have learned to channel It to benefit themselves and their lands. There is 6 main types of magic-fire, water, earth, air, light and dark-and each person is born with a connection to one of these magics.

Shadespinners are those born with a strong connection to Dark Magic. 

Aurabounders are those born with a strong connection to Light Magic.

Heatstrikers are those born with a strong connection to Fire Magic.

Windcharmers are those born with a strong connection to Air Magic.

Terraguarders are those born with a strong connection to Earth Magic.

Raindancers are those born with a strong connection to Water Magic.

Unfortunately, Magic is stubborn, and people can only learn the magic they are born connected to. As such, throughout the millennia people have studied furiously in order to advance their magic and evolve it, stretching it as far as Magic will allow it. It is also unpredictable, if one uses their powers wrongly or unjustly, Magic will strip them of their connection and leave them magic-less.

It also likes to throw in surprises. It blesses one person each a thousand years with a special kind of magic; Nature Magic. This person is known as The Floraweaver.

The Voronin Family.

Crest: A two-headed board with a spear on one side and a parchment to symbolize alliances on the other side.

Current Residence: The capitol city Angavda of the country Nazadar within the Cal Kastiya. The royal palace in the city center is surrounded by high walls, lush gardens, and sprawling food markets.

Years ruling: 132 years. The Voronins took the throne by force two generations ago. Vlarov Kazimir Vornin’s grandfather slaughtered the royal family to seize power and was killed a few years later by an organized rebellion.

Vlarov: Kazimir Maximovish Voronin, aged sixty-two. Wed to Anfisa Igorevna Paelov-Vornin twenty-one years. Father of three children. Protector of Nazadar. Butcher of Blue Hollow.

Vlarovitsa: Anfisa Igorevna Paelov-Vornin, aged thirty-six. Wed to Vlarov Kazimir Maximovish Voronin twenty-one years. Mother of three children. Pianist. Midwife.

Heir to the Throne // Vlarovich: Ioann Kazimirevitch Voronin, aged twelve. Unwed. Promised to the daughter of the Paelov family.

Heiress // Vlarovena: Irinushka “Irina” Kazimirevna Voronin, aged eighteen. Unwed. Unpromised.

Second Heiress // Vlarovena: Katya “Iya” Kazimirevna Voronin, aged sixteen. Unwed. Unpromised.

Above is the quick and dirty for the Voronin family! They are the current ruling family for Nazadar and are equally feared and respected by their subjects. Below is the more of an in-depth look into how their family interacts with each other and the city/country around them.

The Voronin family is equally tight-knit and aloof. 

The children are incredibly close and were glued to each other’s hips when they were younger. Katya and Irina often bicker but are thicker than thieves and help one another through trials and tribulations. As they have aged, they have grown apart from their mother and don’t understand why she is so distant with them. Because of their mother’s typically cold attitude, they helped to raise their younger brother when he was born. Unlike with the girls, their mother doted on the young Ioann and he had to attention of both of his parents where the girls only had a scowl from their father and surface-level interactions with their mother.

This made the girls fiercely independent and taught them to rely on each other. On the other hand, Ioann has a different understanding of their parents’ love as he has been doted on, educated, and provided for since he was an infant. He is at an age where he is still allowed to be a child but is quickly learning that he will have to “man up” and be prepared to take control over the country at any time. 

Vlarovitsa Anfisa was promised to the Vlarov when she was twelve, wed when she was fifteen and had her first child when she was eighteen. Anfisa knew that she would be wed to the Vlarov but she didn’t expect it to come while she was still young - but that didn’t stop her excitement. She loved children and looked forward to having her own. For the first few years of her daughter's lives she was present, loving, doting, caring, and everything she had been taught to be as a mother. But as the years stretched between pregnancies and an heir didn’t seem to be coming, her marriage and standing within the court grew strained. They tried experimental methods to have an heir - trips to witches in the southern woods, strange drinks and exercise, blessings by religious leaders, and other methods that Anfisa had blocked out. She was exhausted, heartbroken, and distancing herself from her family when she finally found out that she was pregnant. Suddenly, her husband didn’t look at her as a failure and question whether she was withholding an heir from him on purpose. But those years between children showed Anfisa the dark, insecure, violent side to her husband and she vowed that she wouldn’t be weak in this court that would chew up and spit her out.

Kazimir Voronin is the first son of four to his father Maxim Voronin. Two of his brothers died during the Red War and his surviving brother holds lands in their western region. He served alongside his siblings during the Red War, a war fought between the Voronin and their supporters against rebellious lords to their north. Some of those in the north argued the legitimacy of the Voronin family rule due to their nature of taking what wasn’t theirs and claiming it. The war lasted two years and came to a head at the Battle of Blue Hollow, where it was rumored that Vlarov Kazimir butchered the noble family in front of their soldiers and hung their corpses from streetlights for all to see. He was labeled as the Butcher of Blue Hollow just one year before his son was born, further solidifying him as the ruler of Nazadar.
