A standard drink is conventionally defined as the alcohol content of 12 ounces of 5 percent-alcohol beer or 5 ounces of 12 percent-alcohol wine or an ounce and half (a shot) of 40 percent-alcohol (80-proof) spirits (hard liquor). In most U.S. states, the legally defined level of intoxication typically occurs, depending on pacing, after four drinks for an average-sized woman or five for an average-sized man.

In the case of marijuana, I’m told that it takes only four puffs to induce a state of intoxication. If your intent for ingesting marijuana in any form isn’t for the intoxicating effect, why do you bother? What benefits from it are you seeking? And if your intent in the recreational use of marijuana is indeed some level of intoxication, your action are in fact Sin.

5. The effects of caffeine vs. marijuana.

But what about caffeine? People drink coffee and Coca-Cola and certain energy drinks to achieve a physical effect. That’s true, but there’s a significant difference. Marijuana temporarily impairs the reliable processing of surrounding reality. Caffeine ordinarily sharpens that processing. Most coffee drinkers hope to stay awake, do their jobs more reliably, and drive more safely. It is certainly possible to abuse caffeine (in the same way we can abuse anything in excess), but, as a natural stimulant, it is most commonly used not as an escape from reality, but as an effort to interact responsibly with reality. Thus, unlike caffeine, marijuana is not generally thought of as an empowering drug that enables you to be a more alert dad, or a more aware mother, or a more competent employee. Rather, for most users, it is a recreational escape, which produces diminished accuracy of observation, memory, and reasoning. And it may have lasting negative effects on the mind’s ability to do what God Created it to do.

6. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.

We read in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 – “Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.” Contrary to what non-Christians think about themselves, you, Christian man and Christian woman, you do not have ultimate authority over your body to do with it what you please. Your body belongs to Christ! Your body is the dwelling place of the Holy Spirit! Your body is to be used to honor and glorify God!

So, if you should choose to drink in excess (drunkenness) or smoke marijuana for a high you need to ask yourself: “Does this decision make Jesus look good?” We should also ask this about the quality of TV shows we watch, or what we see on the Internet, or the kind of music we listen to, or the rating of movies we attend, or how much we eat or spend, even beyond our means.

7. Clear minds help us glorify God in our actions.

We read in 1 Corinthians 6:13 that the body is meant “for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.” Our bodies are designed by creation and redeemed by the blood of Christ so that they might be instruments for his use and his glory. Therefore, we must strive not to dull or diminish or weaken our God-given physical and mental capacities to glorify and serve God. We must strive to see clearly and think clearly and decide clearly and speak clearly and remember clearly. Our minds are designed by God to know him and love him and grow in our affections for him. We should avoid anything that undermines our minds in this regard. As some preacher put it, “be ruthlessly clear-headed.”

8. Christians need to lead by example.

What sort of witness for Jesus do we give when we join with the world in the recreational use of a drug whose purpose is to induce a state of passivity and stupor and diminished accuracy in mental observation and memory and basic reasoning powers? Not a good one, in my humble opinion.

9. Ask the Right questions.

In cases such as this I often think we are asking the wrong question. We ask: “What’s wrong with it?”

“Why shouldn’t I?”

“How far can I go and still not sin?”

Perhaps we should ask:

“Will it promote the cause of Christ?”

“Will this activity lead me and others to treasure Jesus above all else?”

“Will it help me fight the fight of faith with greater success?”

“Will it sharpen and intensify my knowledge of Christ and my commitment to glorify him in all things?” Asking those questions may well elicit a different answer from the one we typically hear.

10. There is no merit to the recreational use of marijuana.

Finally, let’s remember that the only external power to which you should yield conscious control or under whose influence you should come, is the Holy Spirit of God. “And do not get drunk with wine [or high on marijuana], for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit” (Eph. 5:18). My conclusion, then, is that the recreational use of marijuana for the purpose of getting “high” is not an option for the Christian. It is, in point of fact, Sin. L #REBTD

Some Signs of Use

Hearing your loved one use any of these nicknames may alert you to the possibility that he or she may be using marijuana. If you suspect your loved one may be using marijuana, you might also recognize in them certain signs and symptoms of marijuana use:

Paranoia.

Disorientation.

Preoccupation with visual, taste and audio stimuli.

Trouble with memory and ability to focus.

Slower reaction times.

Increased appetite.

Red eyes.

Dry mouth.

Elevated blood pressure and heart rate.

Health Effects

As much as regular users would like to think that weed is an entirely harmless drug, it really is not. Marijuana use has not only been linked with a significant number of short-term psycho-social problems—including problems with school, work, family, friends, and the law—but is also associated with several longer-term medical and mental health risks:

Problems with brain development. When people begin using marijuana when they are young, the drug may reduce memory, attention, and learning functions and affect how the brain constructs links between the areas in the brain that are necessary for those functions. The effect on these abilities may last a long time or even be permanent.

Respiratory problems. Marijuana smoke irritates the lungs and can cause the same breathing problems as those experienced by tobacco smokers, including regular coughing, more frequent lung illness, and a higher chance of lung infections.

Problems with child development during and after pregnancy.

Increased mental health problems risk. Frequent use and high-dosage use may cause disorientation or disagreeable thoughts or feelings of anxiety and paranoia. Marijuana users are also more likely to develop temporary psychosis and long-lasting mental disorders, including schizophrenia.

Signs of Use

Withdrawal Symptoms

Although many proponents of marijuana use may disagree or downplay the problematic potential, for some people marijuana use may become progressively compulsive and contribute to the development of a substance use disorder, or addiction.

In addition, marijuana use is associated with physical dependence and an associated withdrawal syndrome. In other words, many people who use marijuana for a long period of time are at risk of experiencing certain withdrawal symptoms when they suddenly quit or cut back.

These symptoms are often uncomfortable and can compel continued use to keep them at bay. Common symptoms of marijuana withdrawal include:

Anxiety.

Irritability.

Sleeplessness.

Cravings.

Decreased appetite.

Other less common withdrawal symptoms include anger, bipolar, irritability, anorexia, weight loss and strange dreams.

Finding Treatment Centers

Marijuana addiction treatment often begins with detox for supportive withdrawal management followed by behavioral therapy and additional recovery work. Although many people perceive weed as harmless, chronic and compulsive use may be associated with a number of problematic mental and social effects. Professional substance rehabilitation programs can help people begin to recover before such negative consequences begin to mount.

Luxury and Executive marijuana rehab centers are known for offering addiction treatment in addition to many high-end luxuries, making your recovery process much more comfortable. I didn't know my actions until I watched them," she admits. "But at the end of the day, it doesn't define who I am. I'm changed and everyone watching will see this."

Dreamdoll Has No Problem Owning Her Cosmetic Enhancements

The reality star has gone on record to admit that she's had plastic surgery and is 100% comfortable in the skin she's in. In an interview with Power 105.1, the rapper confesses she's had her "boobs, stomach, butt and lips" surgically enhanced. But when VH1 caught up with her, she described a deeper story behind why she went under the knife. "I was in a relationship where my boyfriend use to criticize my body and he was cheating on me with a girl who had curves," she told VH1. "He made me feel so much lower...When I got my money up, that's the first thing I wanted to fix. But [the surgery] made people violate me on Instagram more, saying 'oh, your body is fake.'" As a way to turn the criticism on its ear, she named her debut EP and clothing line Life In Plastic.

DJ Self first got a glimpse of his future artist at the New York City strip club Starlets, where she was working as a bartender. From there, he invited her to be a regular guest on his "Topic Time" segment on Power 105, which then opened the door for her to seriously delve into music. Now, as an official GWININ' ENTERTAINMENT artist, her single "Talk To Me Nice" is climbing the rap charts. And no, she didn't just start rapping to be on Love & Hip Hop. "I used to do music in college. I did talent shows and rapped. Meeting DJ Self and the GWININ' team helped me believe in music again."

Plenty of musicians can flex a fresh fit on the ‘gram, but rare is the occasion where an artist’s sonic output matches the inventiveness of their sartorial choices. Atlanta’s St. Beauty are a diamond in the rough, or more aptly, a perfectly worn leather jacket among racks of questionable second-hand castoffs, since the duo met while working at a vintage store in College Park.

Born and raised Atlantans Alex and Isis quickly bonded over their love for songwriting and performing, and subsequently got their start at a show in the store’s basement. We’ve only been treated to a small taste of the St. Beauty sound, but what we’ve heard so far is a sublime combination of trap beats and angelic vocals, like “Borders,” which featured on the soundtrack to hit HBO show Insecure. They recently collaborated with fellow Atlantan and Highsnobiety Music favorite BOSCO on “Castles” from her recent b. EP.

Check out our exclusive editorial and interview with St. Beauty below, where they discuss growing up in Atlanta, which trap artists they’d like to collab with, and how their style has evolved over the years.

You two met a few years back as teenagers, and over the years you’ve seen each other grow and experience many things both professionally and personally. How has this journey played a part in the music you make now?

Alex: The journey has played a huge role in our music. We started off with just a guitar and our voices. It was so raw in the beginning, then as we started to record our music, percussion and more sounds came into the picture to create the signature sound that we have now.

Isis: This journey has had and still has a lot of ups and downs, break-ups, ending of friendships etc… But it’s a part of our story and all of those experiences allowed us to have something to sing about. This project was definitely a kind of therapy for us. It’s helped us heal from heartbreak and other situations, but it’s also helped us grow. We’ve seen the changes for the better in both of us. We are always growing though; we make sure we’re continuously learning and climbing to the be the best people we can be.

How would you describe your style when it comes to fashion? How has it evolved since you first met?

A: I describe my style as fun and ’70s. I love the fashion in that era and women like Audrey Hepburn and Diana Ross. I love wearing colorful things or having a pop of color somewhere in my outfit. When I just want to chill, I’ll throw on a ringer tee or a band tee. Heart sunglasses are my favorite type of shades. They complete all of my outfits.

I: Comfort is 100% important for us when it comes to our style. We met while working at a vintage store, so we love one-of-a-kind pieces with color and personality. I personally like to show my shoulders and legs. I’m inspired by the same people, from Diana Ross and Audrey Hepburn to even someone like Cher (I haven’t gotten that brave but she’s inspiring). Our style has evolved ever so slightly, but we know things will change later.

Being southern natives, your music has the elements of southern boho-charm with a tiny hint of trap at times. Do you plan on continuing to infuse trap into your music?

A: We love having the trap elements in our music, but we definitely plan to change it up in the future.

I: It isn’t something we are doing on purpose. I think it’s innate when you’ve heard a particular sound for a long time for it to seep through into your music. We know how we want to move when we perform and how we want others to feel and move while listening. We love all types of music. Honestly if you take out all of the trap elements and play our songs on the guitar it would sound like a country song, lol.

You recently did a collab with fellow Atlanta artist BOSCO, how did that come about?

A: BOSCO sent us a text and asked us if we wanted to get on a song. She sent us the private SoundCloud link and we heard it and loved it. We put down melodies and wrote to it and sent it back over to her and she loved it. It was pretty simple and easy. (Laughs) BOSCO is our girl!

I: We love BOSCO. She’s someone who has been on the Atlanta scene working really hard and she also loves to keep the artist community together and we respect her for it. She has a great eye and when she approached us to collab on “Castles,” we instantly said yes! It was a smooth collaboration and the video was more proof of her evolution and her artist’s eye.

Speaking of collabs and trap, if you could collab with a trap artist right now who would it be and why?

A: I would say Swae Lee from Rae Sremmurd. His melodies are always so dope and he’s an amazing writer.

I: I agree with Alex, I would also say 2 Chainz, Young Thug, 21 Savage or Gucci Mane… That’s a hard question for me lol.

What should we expect from your new music coming out soon?

A: You should expect to dance, to be in your feelings, to laugh, and to feel beautiful.

I: You should expect a glimpse in our personal lives and having something you can relate to.

What was the inspiration behind the new music?

A: Our experiences personally and separately really inspired this project we’re about to release. Also, the experiences of others and being two black girls growing up in Atlanta.

I: It’s also about coming up out of any darkness you may have been facing, or if you are in a dark place, this should hopefully help you see that we all go through similar things and it’s about facing them front on and continuing life. Writing this definitely helped us out of our darkness.

Visually, St. Beauty is always on point, what aesthetic ideas do you have in mind for your new project?

I: We have a lot of visual ideas we can’t wait to release and we’ve been in an experimental mode lately so prepare to see another side of us.

This is one of my favorite original tracks I wrote. I used to have a hardcore substance abuse issue. I wrote every word of this from truth and the heart- in hopes it could help the other addict in need, help them or a resolve whatever frustration they’re causing in their own mind- to know they’re not alone and we carry the power in messages of how we communicate to one another. It transfers our energy and intention and usually bounces right back at us depending on how we handle situations.

November 2017 - *PlayLi$t of the Month*

Real talk: 2017 has been a rough year.

Speaking both globally and personally, the news events of the last twelve months have really made it challenging to be an optimist in today’s world. Picture what the year-end TV montage is going to look like this year before the ball drops? It’s going to be a straight-up horror show jumping from clip to clip of some of the most depressing highlights imaginable.

That all being said, musically speaking there is a lot to be thankful for this year. Take this playlist for example, reflecting a nice mix of hip-hop talent from all across the country. From household names to names that I’m not even too familiar with, the last month has treated us to a cornucopia of rap diversity worth celebrating. So have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving, and I hope you enjoy my November PlayLi$t of the Month…

1. “Bulletproof Gucci Windshield” - Fly Anakin, Koncept Jack$on & Tuamie

(While I have been checking for new stuff from the VA collective, I had not been eagerly awaiting a new album from the Mutant Academy folks. With their Soundcloud loosies still in my rotation from over the last few months, I did not think that Fly, Koncept and Tuamie would bless us with such a well-constructed, but still very raw underground hip-hop album, yet here they are to snag the #1 spot on this month’s list. Let it be known that Tuamie is a force to be reckoned with behind the boards, as he conjures up ways to put fresh spins on old boom-bap that bring to mind some of the vibes that DJ Spinna and Jay Dilla were able to infuse into their work. And the MC’s sound potent throughout, spitting bars at a clip that sound fierce, but without losing the vibe that these guys love to rap. Picture D.I.T.C. with some dashes of Gang Starr, Lootpack and even C-N-N, and you have a handle on why this album is easy to rock from start to finish. Keep your eyes glued on the Virginia underground rap scene for the foreseeable future, you won’t be disappointed.)

2. “Free” - CyHi The Prynce

(Having long past the point where G.O.O.D Music fans were asking “hey when’s CyHi dropping?”, I would never have expected CyHi to bless us all with what sounds like it may be one of the best hip-hop albums of 2017. More than any other rap artist this Fall, CyHi perfectly timed his release to come after the wave of highly anticipated big label releases, but before the big holiday push. CyHi shows us sooooo much on this album, it is ridiculous! From his storytelling skills, to quote-worthy bars, to crafting actually songs with a point, to spiritual themes, production choices and features, the dude manages to do everything right on No Dope On Sundays. I waffled between several song choices for this slot, but ultimately went with “Free” because it’s one of the sparsest instrumentals on the album, which provides welcome room for CyHi to flex his pen game, which is his most impressive instrument of all...and perhaps G.O.O.D’s secret weapon.)

3. “R.N.H.” - Jayy Grams

(I know very, very little about Jayy Grams except that he is coming out of the criminally slept-on - but recently thriving - Baltimore rap scene. I heard this song on Hot97′s Real Late with Peter Rosenberg a few weeks ago, and then immediately took to the internet to find out more. The instrumental on “Real N***a Hours” sounds more like the type of soulful backdrop that would have appeared on Nas’ Lost Tapes, a classic late night head-nodder that you can only be used for two things: zoning out after a tough day, or deep, nostalgic reflection. Whatever you choose to do with this one, just make sure you follow Jayy Grams and play this one at night...I happen to be nursing a gin and tonic and listening to it right now!)

4. “Traveling Light” - Talib Kweli feat. Anderson.Paak & Kaytranda

(The new joint featuring Jay Electronica off of Talib’s new Radio Silence album will get more love since Jay Elec only comes out of his cave once or twice a year nowadays, but this song right here holds up to the best of Kweli’s kwatalog. Perhaps his best adrenaline-laced track since “Move Something”, it’s so great to hear Talib drop energized music like this again - in fact I highly recommend the whole album from start to finish.)

5. “Our Streets” - DJ Premier feat. A$AP Ferg

(Did you see this coming? I sure didn’t envision the concept of DJ Premier joining forces with the most unpredictable member of the A$AP Mob. Ferg represents both the old and new school so well on this one, spitting bars with substance without checking his madcap charisma at the bar. Not one of my favorite Primo beats ever, but certainly dope enough to please fans of both classic boom-bap and the new school turn-up crowd.)

6. “Rap Saved Me” - 21 Savage, Offset & Metro Boomin feat. Quavo

(One of a few unexpected treats to drop this past Halloween. 21 Savage and the Migos gang already have a strong catalog of catchy joints with Metro Boomin behind the boards, and this is certainly one of the strongest cuts off of Savage, Offset & Boomin’s aptly titled Without Warning tape. Nothing groundbreaking on this project...just a steady line-up of bass heavy trap tunes that sound decent enough through headphones, but street-shaking through car speakers. Something about 21′s chilly flow works for me more often than not, and this one definitely works as one of the more polished efforts from the four talents.)

7. “Down State” - WESTSIDE GUNN feat. Benny & Styles P

(Another month, another display of Griselda Records flexing their muscle. Westside Gunn closed October by dropping the 5th installment of his now classic Hitler Wears Hermes series, and this joint is an obvious standout. SP and Benny are an especially potent combo, considering that for my money Benny is the best street music poet since artists like the Lox and Beanie Sigel were sitting at the top of the food chain.)

8. “Walk” - Young M.A

(I never gave up on Young M.A, and I never thought for a minute that all she had to offer was “Ooouuu”. What makes M.A’s music sound so convincing is the same skill-set that enabled Cardi B. to become a superstar: the ability to sound casual and believable on tracks, like every verse is an effortless freestyle that arrived following a shot of Henny and bottled-up feelings that simply must be released. “Walk” doesn’t have a catchy hook like “Ooouuu”, but it does pack a steady head-nodder of a beat for M.A to cruise over, and cruise she does. Brooklyn can be proud of this one.)

9. “Once Upon A Time” - The Diplomats

(For any east coast rap fans over the age of 25, turn your nostalgia dials up to eleven for this one. Cam’ron, Juelz Santana and Jim Jones have done a handful of tracks since they split up, but not many have successfully rekindled the classic Dipset vibe quite like this one. Equipped with a trademark soulful, high-pitched Heatmakerz instrumental, the Diplomats sound as fresh as ever on this one. 10. “The Light” - Big K.R.I.T. feat. Bilal, Robert Glasper Jr , Kenneth Whalum & Burniss Earl Travis II

(Welcome back, King. Big K.R.I.T. took on the challenge that few MC’s have succeeded at, and that was dropping a really good double-album. Dripping with Southern-fried soul and ready to spill his guts on each and every song, K.R.I.T. packs so much heart into this album that it may be a long time before we can all fully digest it. That being said, I didn’t have to sit through “The Light” for too long before I declared it one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have heard on a rap album in recent years. Combining the meandering brilliance of jazz with the depth of live instrumentation and the Mississippi rapper’s deliberate voice, this is easily one of my favorite songs off of 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time.)

(A month ago I had not heard of the Canadian producer, but I promise to stay tuned to ChanHays’ future work after listening to his Here album. The project is stacked with top-notch stars of the underground hip-hop realm, and this dope little gem features two of the best torchbearers of the classic NYC rap sound in Roc Marciano & Meyhem Lauren. Definitely cop this whole project, it’s a no-brainer.)

(Speaking of Meyhem, his project with legendary Cypress Hill producer DJ Muggs is not to be slept on. Even with strong features from Roc Marci, Action Bronson, and the late great Sean Price, it’s this hard joint with Benny and Meyhem’s brother Hologram that make for my favorite cut off of Gems From The Equinox.)

(When some of the biggest names from Louisiana, Atlanta and Memphis’ modern rap scenes get together, it’s usually safe to say that you’re in for a bouncy trap-anthem. Moneybagg & Youngboy dropped a surprise project this month that really seemed to bring out the best in one another. The hungry young talents flashed enough flow, personality and hunger to put over some tracks which would be indistinguishable in lesser hands. Thugga jumps in for some fun on this one, and the result is a strong little thumper that pulls ahead of some of the more repetitive fair on their solid Fed’s Baby tape.)

(Before Moneybagg, Yo Gotti was buzzing in the Memphis underground and slowly building a catalog of mixtapes stuffed with catchy tunes. Gotti has finally garnered household-name status in recent years, and in spite of a fairly low ceiling he has managed to deliver a steady flow of strong singles for years now. “2809″ is one of my favorite tracks from his recent I Still Am album, and like much of his music it showcases a deep appreciation for surviving a perilous lifestyle without losing an ounce of pride for where he comes from.)

A Pokemon Sword/Shield draft, because we are a sports website

Gotta draft ‘em all!

Pokemon. Domesticated animals trained to fight for the amusement of humans in an alt-history hellscape where children are forced from their houses in their preteens to capture and battle others under the guise of growth into adulthood. It’s perfect and we love it!

Friday marks the release of Pokemon Sword/Shield, the latest game in the series. Being the avid sportspeople we are, and thriving on competition at the expense of others we decided to draft a six Pokemon team made entirely of Pokemon which are returning to the series. We were not allowed to draft the only returning legendary Pokemon (Mew), and were given the freedom to draft to our heart. Here is what we did.

Brittany Cheng

Lucario, 10. Hydregion, 11. Gardevoir, 20. Bewear, 21. Gengar, 30. Lapras

The moment I signed up for this, I was stressed — especially because I’ve been AWOL from the Pokemon world after Gen 4. Thankfully a mix of Silph Road message boards, Quora replies, and the kindness of a top Pokemon expert from our sister gaming website, Polygon, helped me select the best team.

I got lucky, too. If Zion Williamson is on the board, why wouldn’t I take him first?

I don’t need to defend my other picks; I know I already won the draft since my No. 1 pick made my boss react “OH FUCK YOU.”

Graham: Honestly I’m not sure that spending your first pick in the draft deliberately spiting your boss is a good career choice.

James: I’d burn you, but I’ve never seen someone so stressed out about the basic concept of drafting Pokemon. Sorry to break the fourth wall for our readers, but you were definitely wracked with anxiety every time your pick came back up. I don’t want you to endure that pain so I love your draft. Good picks. Zero problems.

Christian: Would eat: Lapras. Wouldn’t eat: everyone else.

Matt: Gardevoir is definitely on Tik Tok so I’m upset to miss it for my team of social media All-Stars. Also shouts to Britt for drafting Graham’s favorite Pokemon No. 1 and sending this draft in chaos mode from the get-go.

2. Aegislash, 9. Toxapex, 12. Charizard, 19. Ferrothorn, 22. Togekiss, 29. Weaville

Aegislash gives a strong counter to Lucario at 1.1 and can sweep with Swords Dance while using King’s Shield to disrupt any physical attackers taken later. The rest of the Pokemon were taken with roles plus type composition in mind, with something of an eye towards specific checks:

Toxapex can deal with James’ Tyranitar, Scald physical attackers and sit as a very difficult defensive barrier.

Charizard gives some versatility with its different mega-evolution forms and wide moveset, but will mostly be used as a drought-powered special wallbreaker.

Ferrothorn is another answer to Tyranitar plus can set Stealth Rock and stall with Leech Seed/protect.

Togekiss running Defog is not an ideal hazard clearer but the available Pokemon who can use Defog or Rapid Spin is astonishingly low. Can also help with team status and go for flinch locks.

Weaville is here as a fast revenge killer, if necessary, and gives some type coverage we were missing with Pursuit.

Aegislash can do most of the hard work and, given the Pokemon available, I think the rest of the team balances and supports it well enough. I’m a little worried about that Gengar on Britt’s team, though, and there’s also no clean way to bring in Pokemon through pivot moves. Prediction and smart play, as always will be key.

James: Nerd.

Britt: Nerd.

Christian: Would eat: Charizard, Togekiss. Wouldn’t eat: everyone else.

Matt: Charizard is the only real Pokemon on this list in my opinion. Also, nerd.

3. Tyranitar, 8. Wishiwashi, 13. Mimikyu, 18. Drampa, 23. Sawk, 28. Vikavolt

I’m not going to sit here and tell you my team is perfect. I’m not going to tell you they’re a top-tier team of killers and world-ruiners, but I will say that they make me happy. In the end that’s all that matters.

Tyranitar is my beefy thick boy to hold down the fort, while also offering that excellent rock/dark type to get me through some early fights. Mimikyu is my sad pokemon, which is personally important to me, considering my natural proclivity for Psyduck.

Wishiwashi is the pick I know people will criticize, but he’s my Rudy, my Hail Mary. I really like the Pokemon who go from zero-to-hero like watching an episode of Queer Eye, but with Wishiwashi it’ll hit school form and become a murderer in one battle — not like waiting on a sad-ass Magikarp to get its act together.

Britt: I offered to trade you Bewear for Wishiwashi, so you deserve all the burns you get.

Christian: I bet I could eat all these Pokemen. Maybe not Vikavolt.

Matt: Tyranitar is def a bully who gets likes on IG because people are afraid of it, so I’m upset to not have it on my socia media team. Also Wishiwashi is a hilarious name. Proud of it.

4. Mamoswine, 7. Mudsdale, 14. Unfezant, 17. Pelipper, 24. Vanilluxe , 27. Wobbuffet

I have never played Pokemon, but we needed a fifth for the draft. My picks were solely based on how much I’d like to eat each of these characters. With a bottom-two pick, I invested solely in winning the “most delicious” crown.

Mamoswine: Half pig, half mammoth. You remember the opening credits for the Flintstones? This is where those car-destroying ribs came from.

Mudsdale: I could only find one cow-looking Pokemon (Tauros), and he wasn’t eligible for selection. I’m gonna have to settle for horse steaks instead. And since this thing is half Clydesdale, I’m gonna have a ton of them.

Unfezant: The most spatchcockable Pokemon on the board. Can’t believe he lasted to the third round. Plus you can save all that unfezant fat and fry potatoes in them afterward.

Pelipper: I kinda choked on this one. I thought this was a giant, fat, belligerent chicken, like Foghorn Leghorn (delicious). Instead it’s a pelican. I bet I could still eat it!

Vanilluxe: It’s literally ice cream. Most obvious pick of the day.

Wobbuffet: BUFFET IS RIGHT THERE IN THE NAME

What’re you guys gonna do when your Pokemen fall in battle? Bury them solemnly? Pretend like nothing happened?

I’m gonna eat like a goddamn king.

Britt: I told you to draft Oddish for a balanced diet. Better check your arteries and cholesterol.

Christian: The idea of eating a radish is by far the most unrealistic thing to happen in this draft.

Matt: Why are we eating Pokemon again? I’m concerned and I think I have to call the police? Actually, you can eat Wobbuffet.

I had very important criteria for my picks. I selected the six who I felt would make the strongest social media team, and I’ll explain why.

My first two picks were Milotic and Gyrados because they are both hot sea monsters. That means they’ll get a lot of likes on IG. Then I picked Machamp because it’d make a dope fitness account, and Ninetails because it definitely wears designer clothes for the ‘Gram. Snorlax is, without a doubt, a depressed meme poster. And Ludicolo def gets WILD on main. He’ll get a lot of “SIR” reply tweets, but hey, engagement is engagement.

That’s a damn squad right there.

Graham: While drafting entirely for Pokemon hotness is a fun goof it also raises some concerns about ... well, a lot of things.

Ming

I yawned, carseat on my arm as I walked into my store to see a few customers as well as my staff being attentive. This is my 4th jewelry store that I opened. 2 in New York and one in Chicago. I was in New York for the longest but decided to make moves elsewhere and out of the way.

I need a backyard for my baby and New York nor Chicago was cutting it so to LA I came. I built this store a year ago and now it will officially be the headquarters of Nami Diamonds.

“Good morning Ming. Here’s your chai tea”

My assistant spoke as I sat Mai’s carseat on my desk, removing the covered cup from her hands. I smiled lightly, taking a deep breath then looking at a few papers on my desk.

“Whose coming in today?”

“3 local’s, and Michael B Jordan, I believe. 2 grills, 1 bracelet and a Cuban”

I nodded. I’m so glad I get to get up and do what I love. As busy as I can be and as time consuming and crazy these project can be, I’m happy to do it, because this is something I’ve really wanted.

Looking at Maiko sleeping soundly I exhaled, and shook my head. She really needed a nanny, or some type of care. But at the moment it’s just not an option. Sitting down at the cleaning are, I pulled out a few things to clean the diamonds on hand.

“When do you leave for Philidelphia baby?”

My mother questioned through the speakers of my car. I sat at the lighting, texting back my homie Steelo before responding back to her.

“In 3 weeks. I been training with Corey like crazy and It’s only gonna get crazier”

I spoke with a smile. Black Panther was out the way and done, as was press for the movie, now it was time for Creed 2. I filmed the first one back in 2015, and I feel that’s when my career really kicked off. I mean of course niggas know and vividly remember me from the wire, but I was younger then. I’m really making a path of my own and successfully.

“Well baby. Make sure you don’t work yourself to hard. I really wish you had a... lady friend to keep you from going crazy”

I laughed lowly and shook my head. I’ve been single so long, I forget what it’s like to be with someone. My mother pushes for it more than myself.

“I guess when the time is right... right mama?”

She laughed.

“I guess so baby. Are you gonna come by and see me?”

One hand on the wheel I cruised through the LA streets.

“Yeah mama. I’ll come see you. Right now, I’m about to go to this Jeweler but I’ll stop by in a few to see you?”

“Okay baby, I love you. Be safe”

“I love you too”

Hanging up the phone as I pulled into the parking lot, I looked up at the store then hopped out. I ain’t know much about this place but what I’ve heard from everybody. Even DJ Khaled said this chick is the shit. I’m guessing she’s been in New York but relocated to LA which is coinvent. I live out here and I’m busy, I’ve seen her work and I been eager to get something made.

Walking in, I was immediately greeted with a flute of champagne and warm smiled.

“How can I help you sir?”

Impressive. Nice service, more than what I can say for a lot of places I’ve been.

“I’m putting down the blueprint for a chain I want made”

She nodded with a bright smile, extending her arm for me to follower her. Looking around the shop, I looked around at all the jewelry before I was brought into the womens office. She sat at her desk with a small child in her arms.

She quickly stood up, walking over to me and shaking my hand.

“Ming Lee..”

I nodded, looking her up and down.

“Michael”

I starred at her a bit, causing her to clear her throat before offering me the seat infront of her desk.

“So how can I help you today. I know you stated to my assistant you wanted a cuban”

I was memorized. This chick was beautiful. How did I not come across her sooner. I blinked, taking my eyes off of her then folding my arms. Looking at the diamonds in a box infront of me.

“Yeah, Cuban link. What type of diamonds do you have?”

She shifted the child in her arms, pulling her glasses down on her face and pointed to each diamond with her stiletto nails.

“So here I have laid out different colored round cuts. I think these are the best fit for a Cuban. Rounds boasts 58 facets and offers white light reflection”

I nodded letting her continue.

“For the metal you can do white, gold, yellow, or put two together”

I nodded, looking at some sample metals in front of me.

“I think I’ll mix up the Yellow and White”

She nodded, standing up, trying to put her daughter, I suppose in a playpin only for her to began to holler”

She shook her head, picking her back up as she grabbed sample chains.

“You cutting up toda-”

“I’ll hold her for you”

She looked at me with caution causing me to laugh.

“I got her”

Hesitantly, she placed her in my arms before placing different sizes around me. Her daughter was cute, looked just like her. Jet black hair and she smelled just like whatever perfume she was wearing.

“What size was you feeling. The 29″ 21″ 23″ or this one. The 17″?”

Looking in the small mirror, I nodded at myself

“This one, the 17 is dope”

“Okay so 10k Yellow and white diamonds. 17 inch length. S1-SI2 Diamonds. VS or Cubic Z-”

I smacked my teeth and she laughed shrugging her shoulders.

“You'd be surprised how many high profile celebrities come in and say Cubic”

I laughed and shook my head.

“Nah, Ima go all out”

She smiled.

“Alright. 15.1 carat. That’s 214 grams. You feeling the look?”

She showed me a sketch and I nodded. Shit was dope, I see why she was known for her work. I rubbed her daughters small foot then looked back at her, ready for her to give me my total.

“Iight, that will be $23,998.80“

My eyes widen. That was unbeatable with pricing

“Word?”
