GB Patch Games: 2024 Intentions

Welcome to 2024, everybody 🥳️

This is the year of Our Life: Now & Forever (and 2025 will be too, but let's not get ahead of ourselves that much). After a good five odd years of making Our Life: Beginnings & Always content, it's amazing to look ahead and see only the progress that will be done on this new game. Qiu and Tamarack are the center of the GB Patch Games universe now. But even though I'm not creating any new OL1 scenes, there may still be some exciting developments for the existing stuff. Cove hasn't been forgotten.

If you want to know about what will be accomplished specifically in January, you can read that HERE. Now here's the entire year's goals-

Honestly, 2024 is gonna be the most basic year in a very long time, haha. There's not gonna be major launches of new DLCs, or a full game going live, or any bonus Moments. It's simply making progress on OL: N&F. That's pretty normal for game development. It's just not something we've had to go through since 2019. But we're hunkering down for the long haul on this one.

Specifically, Step 1 will be fully completed in 2024 and I'll make as much headway into Step 2 as possible. There will be two updates to the public demo, one probably in May and another sometime in Fall/Third Quarter 2024. Those will focus on Step 1 scenes still. I can't guarantee we'll be able to rework the Step 2 part of the demo with new content this year. As it is, the content was made to be a demo preview. A lot is gonna change for the complete version.

And that's about it for our main game. I appreciate all of you who decide to follow along with the process.

Beyond that, the Our Life: Beginnings & Always digital artbook is going to become available through Steam and Itch.io in early 2024! Maybe not January, but ideally no later than February.

Finger's crossed, we will also launch Our Life: Beginnings & Always for Mac on Steam and make it available for Androids through the Google Playstore. I can't state it with confidence, since there's constantly been roadblocks/issues with those, aha.

My final little note for this coming year is that, potentially, there could be more information coming out about the game that's going into production after OL2, "Project W".

And that's what you can look forward to. Every year I'm amazed I can continue to do this as my fulltime job. I'm always wondering when that will end, but I'd be lying if I said I could see that point. The support GB Patch Games has gotten, and still gets each day, is more than enough to for it to continue for the rest of OL2's development.

I'm pretty confident in assuming that when that game does launch it's going to be successful enough for Project W to go into full production. It's a truly wonderful thing. Thank you so much for being here. We'll do our best with the time and attention you've given us.

Blogiversary the Sixth

Happy 6th anniversary to my art blog! 🥳 It’s been a bit of a slower, stranger year for me in terms of art, with notably fewer new pieces overall, and a higher proportion of them being original/non-fan art. But I was busy with other cool milestones in my life, and I still got to do some big and exciting new things with my art, like expanding beyond static images a bit more.

So, here’s some of my art highlights in 2024:

contributing to three zines, including one where I dipped my toe into the horror genre and another where I tried my hand at…

…creating another two-cel gif! And then later I made a short, looping animation by hand!!

making timelapses to see how my art process looks when sped up

designing my own chibi style, which I played with more in…

doing Art Fight (so many defenses this time! 🥺) and a more laid-back, vibes-based Inktober.

(oh, and crafting another D&D character! I only shared sketches on my AF account, and I’m still not done with the visual design 😓)

Once again, I had a fair number of pieces get left behind as WIPs simply because I couldn’t spare the time and energy to complete them. —Gosh. I just went back and counted: 12ish things this year that didn’t get posted, whether for privacy reasons or incomplete status. Maybe I’ll share a few that I can in the next couple months while I’m otherwise busy with a big logo design project and holiday stuff!

For the farther future, I hope to do a little catch-up on stuff I’ve wanted to accomplish for quite a while (I see you in the corner, set-of-things idea, figure-studies idea, and illustration-style-test idea), but I also want to keep trying new things, as always. Maybe I’ll even…try out adding a new platform again. Who knows?

Thank you to my 164 followers, my commissioners and clients, and those who have encouraged me! You make the difference. May we wield hope as a discipline in 2025.

From what you've said, we will be meeting when I'm in higher education; I can't predict the future (lol), but that makes a lot of sense given that I'll be going to uni September 2025 (You mentioned me being at least 19, which is how old I'll be at around the end of my 1st year in uni). Hopefully he'll also be doing psychology!!!

What you said about me being in the page of wands energy was spot on 😭 Bc that's my true personality, which I've been working on expressing more easily (For now I can be laid-back, fiery and excitable to a certain extent, and around my close friends only)

The trauma-bonding is crazy though 💀💀💀 It's interesting bc that's like the OPPOSITE of me; I'm usually more guarded due to underlying fears, so I definitely have a lot of character development to complete before I meet my future spouse (As you had mentioned)

Additionally, your description of my attitudes/behaviours concerning arguments and generall communication was honestly BEYOND PERFECT; I think the isolation stems from my unfortunate inability to process my emotions in the exact moment of conflict without getting overwhelmed or overly emotional 😭😭😭

But omg not to be a simp but the description of him is just 😮‍💨 I need me some of that XD

His opinions on my eyes make sense, since (according to other people) my eyes are super expressive. Also the voice thing sort of resonates; People are often surprised by my voice since (compared to my resting bitch face) it's kinda...cutesy?? (I'm cringing saying that but it's what others seem to think 😔) I guess very animated (Like when I speak I'm frequently changing my tone/accent/pitch).

I've also seen in a lot of PACs that his love language will be acts of service + gift giving, which obviously correlates with this reading. And the fatherly aura... Tbh I have no idea how to react to that LMAO (Hopefully my daddy-issues don't cause any conflicts with that)

Overall, TYSM FOR THE READING 😊; Amazing quality (And I actually prefer the format this way btw), and so frickin detailed 😫. You maxxed out on both quantity and quality lolol.

The advancement in all that do think and make is such a quantum leap that the ol' timers , like me, often wonder , how on earth did we do what we did , knowing now what it takes to do what is to be done ..

All and everything is on the touch of a finger on your mobile or laptop or computer .. there are no ifs and buts anymore .. need .. and the solution is there .. applications for almost all available without thought .. for even thought is being thought of by the application ..

spend a day in isolation .. walk out at that decisive hour to the GOJ .. and ready to face another day .. in challenge .. in existence .. and anticipation ..

each day is scheduled presence of what the next few minutes is to be accomplished, adhered to , to prepare and look ahead .. and when it does not occur .. the desolation of emptiness and waste ..

much so that the soft regularity of deployed schedule gets avoided, because the body and mind do not synchronise with each other ..

Many send greetings and wishes for Basant Panchami - the day Abhishek was born, was that auspicious day - and all obviously desire a response ..

But the volume of work is large and time consuming, hence an acknowledgement here on the Ef platformic Home ..

The day begins in the hours of laziness .. and matures to some discussions on management .. not having any presence or education in this rather complicated sphere .. it never has, or never shall be, understood by the rest ..

But .. the argument is that just when you become a recognised face, an entire Universe is created around it ..

For, it is assumed that the individual has been gifted with solutions and answers to all that needs them .. at birth ..

Wrong !!

No .. we are not proficient for this job or work .. dumb as hell and immature in its outlook .. we consider the advice given by those in the echelons of management ..

But choosing the right people, and extracting the work protocol from them is another management task ..

So there is reliance on others of trust to find and appoint such to be able to manage affairs, without giving any stress to the creator .. in a sense giving the individual an apparatus that gives the personality, relief from day to day running of his schedule and curriculum and protocol .. and an entire gamut of work now being handled by the TEAM - an oft used word in today's times .. bringing sufficient relief for the professional to have the freedom of thought and mind to conduct what he or she feel about their work .. and to be conducted in a manner that takes care ..

When my own choice of recruiting individuals has been, and is, a most trying experience .. I would be the happiest to find that my management, looks after, all else and gives me peace of mind to concentrate on what is believed to be my forte ..

It is all very well to conceive and ideate what creatively may be of interest to me .. but does it also attract a similar sentiment with the rest .. is what my dilemma is !

In today's world there is no dearth of set ups, organisations in consultancy , that take charge of the situation and brings the joy and independence, from what seems to me to be far too complicated ..

I also feel that, many offer services in their grace towards me .. and I never feel comfortable to be seeking obligation from any other, even when the gravest condition is blown upon , coerces you to share the issue with those that are in proficiency related positions ..

Yes, there are dime a dozen organisations that readily take up this job and bring it to fruition .. but how to demonstrate to them what is it that gives comfort .. for, there is no time for trial and error .. now ..

And ever the fear , whether I am losing something or not, in having gone about it in a systematic professional manner ..

Many give opinion, that if the boat sails safe and comfortably in the oceans of the existent Universe .. why rock the boat at all ..

And the dilemma again .. in finding out that what was before, was the best methodology, than what is being desired now ..

Ahh .. life is so complicated .. !!

And then the learnings from Babuji and the return to his thoughts and wisdom .. make way and suddenly everything falls into place ..

For I am certain whenever any of us has faced an issue, the first thought that comes to mind is .

"what would Babuji and Ma have done in such decision making situations .."

And suddenly everything falls into place ..

The human psychology ever thrashes any fixed or formed ideas, and thoughts on issue ..

The most oft repeated being ..

" when I have 1x .. how has the other got 3x ..

And this becomes the base of diffident thinking, which propels one to compete and fight to beat .. and win ..

BUT .. just as you have succeeded in this trail and laughing your way to the bank , nature throws another sidewinder gauntlet moment , challenging all that you may have felt comfortable with ..

Hence either you get out of bed and determine the mind and body to fight .. or merely accept the condition, lie back quilted , and reminisce the days gone by ..

Remember .. enough is never enough ..
