Overnight, a UAV, which we believe was launched from Yemen, infiltrated from the sea to our west and struck a building in central Tel Aviv. This impact resulted in the death of one civilian and lightly injured eight others. We extend our condolences to the bereaved family and wish a speedy recovery to the injured.
No alert was activated during the incident, and we are thoroughly investigating the matter. Our initial findings suggest the UAV was a Samad-3, an Iranian weapon likely upgraded to extend its range. This UAV flew from Yemen to Tel Aviv. Iran supports, funds, and arms its proxies in Gaza, Judea and Samaria, Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, as evidenced by last night's event. UAV threats have been a constant challenge since the beginning of the war across all our borders. Dozens of UAVs have been launched from Yemen alone, most of which have been intercepted or shot down before entering Israeli territory. The majority were intercepted by an American task force under U.S. CENTCOM, while the rest were intercepted by Israeli Air Force planes or defense systems.
Simultaneously with the Tel Aviv incident, another UAV attempting to infiltrate from the east was intercepted and shot down outside of Israel’s borders. We are investigating the connection between the two incidents.
We are conducting a thorough inquiry to understand why the UAV was not identified as a threat and intercepted before it struck. An initial inquiry was conducted this morning, and we will continue to review the findings and update the public accordingly.
I want to emphasize that our defense is not foolproof. We are strengthening our air patrols and airspace protection across the country. We are continuously improving our capabilities to better protect the citizens of Israel.
There is no change in the Home Front Command directives. Should there be any changes, we will immediately inform the public.
Overnight and this morning, the Chief of the General Staff conducted several situational assessments. We have increased our defensive capabilities in Israel’s skies with additional planes and other measures to improve detection, alert, and interception capabilities. The incident on the ground was managed cooperatively by the Israel Police, Magen David Adom, and the Israel Fire and Rescue Services, who provided vital details for the inquiry.
In the north, the UAV threat is a daily challenge due to short-range launches, differing from last night’s incident. We are studying the northern threat to improve our response. We recognize the ongoing challenges faced by residents in the north.
In the past day, we have eliminated six Hezbollah terrorists and struck fifteen targets from the air and ground in the north.
We are engaged in a multi-front war, operating in all arenas and defending the country's skies daily. We are addressing threats both near and far.
In the coming days, we will continue our situational assessments to understand the incident better, determine the source of the threat, and decide on the necessary defensive and operational responses against those who threaten the State of Israel.

Today's (8/1/2024) Episode: Aging Up Is Hard To Do
After Noemi joined Luigi in adulthood, the pair struggled to settle into their new, older, stage of life.
Luigi had been busy after aging up, first grieving and then trying to make Noemi’s birthday perfect. When the vain sim finally checked his mirror, he was horrified by how OLD he looked. Wrinkles and bags under his eyes…!? The self-absorbed sim hated the marks time had left on his face.
It didn’t help his outlook that his eczema and anemia seemed to be getting worse, despite religiously sticking to his tried-and-true maintenance routines. He’d also begun to struggle with excessive thirst. None of it made it easy to meet his own high standards. Luigi was officially in a funk!
As for Noemi, she had finally set a date to start the job that Skye’s birth and her health issues had postponed, but it was messing with her head.
She worried that her social struggles would prevent her from making a good impression on her bosses and new peers. On top of that, her inability to exercise the way she wanted to since Skye’s birth due to her surgeries had left her carrying a lot more leftover baby weight than she liked.
The idea of facing her new co-workers and clients when she feeling far from her “best” kicked her anxiety into high gear.
When Luigi admitted his unhappiness with his new, older look and recent ill health it prompted his fiancée to admit to her own concerns.
Noemi suggested that, since Luigi was feeling under the weather, they start trying to tackle things with a visit to their doctors.
Hopefully, his primary care provider could help him figure out what to do to get his chronic conditions back under control and Dr. Valasquez could help her brainstorm ways to manage her anxiety.
Sadly, the outcome of Luigi’s healthcare appointment only worsened his outlook.
His symptoms and answers to questions about his general dietary habits quickly prompted the doctor to order a panel of bloodwork. This revealed that Luigi’s recent fatigue and dry skin weren’t the worsening of his long-standing medical issues, but a sign that he needed to overhaul his lifestyle once again to deal with a new chronic condition: diabetes.
To keep his blood sugar in a healthy range Luigi would now need to avoid many of his favorite breakfast foods and mixology recipes. He hung up the phone in shock, his natural cheerfulness unable to find any bright side to the grim news. Why did these things keep happening to him!?
Noemi didn’t fare much better. Her therapist wasn’t able to suggest anything she didn’t already know, leaving her no better off than before.
Grabbing a late dinner after putting Skye to bed the couple compared notes and tried to brainstorm. Luigi’s first idea came as he remembered how empowering it had felt for him and his cousins to curate their “new looks” after moving in together. Maybe, he told Noemi, they couldn’t change what was at the heart of their problems, but with a little “fashion magic” they could cover over them a bit. She agreed it was worth a try.
When he went on to bitterly joke: “At least my seldom sleepy trait keeps me mostly awake and alert. If only there was a satisfaction potion of chronic-illness-be-gone!” a lightbulb went off in Noemi’s brain. No satisfaction reward would help him, but there was definitely one for her weight concerns.
When Luigi saw the “Insta Lean” potion pop out of his fiancées inventory he placed a hand on her arm to stop her from chugging it down.
“What?” she asked him “It’s a perfectly safe one time reset. Now that I can exercise again, I’ll easily maintain a weight that makes me happy. Come to think of it, exercising more would be good for both of us. Didn’t the doctor say a regular fitness routine would help you manage your sugar levels?”
“Yes, he did” Luigi replied, “and that’s a great idea. If you’re spending points, do you have enough to pick up Seldom Sleepy too?” At her nod he smiled and continued. “Grab that, and we can burn the midnight oil together, going for late night jogs on the beach and early morning swims!”
Gesturing back at the potion his face got serious as he continued: “I just wanted you to know, before you drink that, that you are beautiful and loved just the way you are. If your new bosses or your bathroom mirror don’t appreciate you, I hope you realize how much I do.”
Noemi leaned across the table and kissed him softly. “I love you too. However much your love completes me though, I want to go into my new job feeling on top of the world. This expensive little cocktail will boost my confidence in the office Monday morning, when I’ll need all the help I can get!” With that, she tipped the glass back, letting the magical concoction slide down her throat with a cool tingle.
With their “fixer upper” plans in place the pair looked forward to a fashion makeover to highlight their new, more mature, and soon sleeker bodies!

-28- Fight/Flight/Freeze
Across the road, at a bus stop, a clutch of men too old for school but too young for good sense loitered extravagantly, jumping two-footed on and off the bench, swinging from an overhead bar, pulling hard-thrown punches. Laughing, rough-voiced, loud. Adam dropped Harry's hand when he noticed them. Despite not being prone to a light gait or a careful posture or flamboyant hand-gestures he instantly took inventory and schooled himself against them. His gut clenched and he kept one eye on the group, alert to sudden moves. He listened for particular syllables that might rise, weighty with threat, from the overall cacophony of their voices. All of this he did without thinking, in a blink; he'd been doing it since he was ten.
Two strides up the pavement and Harry reached to recapture his hand, had to go into the pocket of his hoodie to find it and draw it out.
"What's the matter?" he asked, bewildered bordering on hurt. Adam hummed grimly and cut a glance across the road; they were nearly past now, but of course that didn't mean they were out of sight. Harry caught it and steered his gaze. "They're just dumb kids being loud," he said with an almost-shrug, but he let Adam's hand go.
Another few yards and they came to their corner, made the turn.
"Sorry," Adam said. "I'm not used to it. Walking with you." He looked at the ground, and wrung his hands in front of his chest. "With anybody."
Harry looked puzzled, bless him, he was a twenty-first century boy. And maybe naturally just more brave than Adam, too. Adam had never been brave. "It's all right," Harry assured him, and stroked the back of his shoulder briefly before letting him go again.
"No." Adam shook his head at himself. "It's really not. Just an old bad habit. I know I don't need to worry. Or, worry as much."
"It's not easy to give up the habits that kept you alive," Harry said casually.
"That's the last little trace of it, I think," Adam mused, and reached for Harry's hand, held it lightly. They were nearly home. "Women that remind me of my gran; working men coming out of pubs; priests and nuns--all fine. But a gang of young lads like that." He sucked his teeth. "I don't know why, they just scare me."
"They scare everyone. They're selfish and stupid and they show off for each other by being arseholes to strangers. I don't blame you for still being scared." Harry sidestepped to bump against Adam's arm.
"Yeah," Adam agreed, "Awful." He tried to laugh it off, and twined his and Harry's fingers together as he reached for the handle on the building's front door. But there was a weird anxious tingle in his face and his stomach ached, still, always, even as a twenty-first century man.

2024-09-17: Episode 17 (Rainy Days, Here To Stay)
Original airdate October 21, 1992
Episode Synopsis
Rain is somewhat uncommon in Fresno, but a state of emergency is declared when a storm system suddenly appears and begins to dump a torrent of rain on the area with no signs of stopping. The army is called to begin sandbagging efforts to control the rapidly rising flood waters. Our intrepid gang of fish folk must, being more suited to aquatic environments than the army reserve troops, are called in to help rescue people who can't be reached by the boats. Can they survive the floodwaters long enough to figure out how to stop the flood?
*Spoiler Alert* The flooding is caused by a SynCorp aircraft that looks like a dark raincloud and can control the weather. It doesn't have much in the way of defenses, aside from being in the sky and needing to find a way to reach it.

Do you like it when your house smells like freshly baked cookies, or perhaps a spring meadow? Instead of being like most people, Airburger Scented Products made a line of air fresheners in the style of frighteningly-accurate fast food creations like burgers, hotdogs, and pizza. Unfortunately for Airburger, most people did not want their living rooms or bedrooms smelling like fast food all the time, and the company was eventually acquired by a larger scent manufacturer of the more "traditional" fragrances.
Notable Episode Feature: The Sandbaggers (Encounter)
A group of army personnel led by Sgt. Florencio Ortega is currently trying desperately to sandbag the area around a grocery store, but it doesn't look like they will be able to secure the perimeter in time. Some of the soldiers ask for help, while others ask for evacuation. Even if the gang does nothing but help the sandbagging efforts, it will not be enough to stop the floodwaters from breaching the sandbags in 10 minutes.
Evacuating all the soldiers will save the lives of all the soldiers, but allow the flood waters to wash away a crucial supply of sand that will make future fortifications more difficult. If half of the soldiers are evacuated, the remaining soldiers adjust the flood wall to protect the sand pile, but it leaves a gap where the floodwaters rush into the grocery store and destroy all of the inventory and render the building unusable. If all of the soldiers stay, the grocery store will be flooded in shin-deep water, but will still be usable as a shop when the water drains. There is a 25% chance that a soldier (in any of the above scenarios) gets washed away by the flood waters. They will survive if rescued within 6 hours.
