the Florida Panthers won the Stanley cup
and with that I have officially watched my first season of hockey.
I started as a fan of the penguins with an affection towards Flower as well. Now I’m ending the season a kraken fan, pens fan, flower fan and with more mattdrai interest than I expected.
The kraken stuff happened in mid April really suddenly, but ever since I started dabbling in hockey fandom in late 2021 I knew that becoming a kraken fan was going to happen eventually, a matter of when not if. Those beautiful jerseys, my love of cephalopods, and the team’s newness were strong draws but I still needed to have a special little guy to seal the deal. I discovered Adam Larsson in late march (thanks @angry-geno-is-score your fics* are brilliant<3) and what do you know that’s kraken hockey baby!
They’re probably going to be my main team next season. Still love the pens, their narratives are exquisite, but my brain wants kraken more.
(The mattdrai is a playoffs discovery that I fear I’ll never recover from. Leon’s disdain for the media and Matthew’s understanding that hockey is supposed to be theatre entertainment is *chef’s kiss*)
And with that here is a list, in no particular order, of some of notable things I saw this season,
: Tristan Jarry goalie goal!!! There was so much to like about this, the bench reaction, EK shaking Jars vigorously, Lars Eller going for a head boop and missing and then going for another one with more force, Ned trying to get Jars to skate over to do a fist bump line at the bench, Jars looking so bashful at the attention. :When Bryan Rust had that mustache and it was….kinda working. : Jeff Carter, the team Old Man that season, scoring like 3 breakaways and 2 short handed goals. : that shootout that went for 12 rounds (thank you Ned). : when Tanger got on all fours and started rocking back and forth in the locker room during Sully’s pre game speech (seriously wtf). : when Rusty scored in OT, had it waved off, and like ten seconds later scored again in a cooler way. : Sully becoming a grandpa<3. : when Jeff was a healthy scratch (the only time) and when he was asked about it was basically like ‘whatever, it doesn’t bother me, I just work here’. This was when I really started to like him btw. : Flower getting to 1000 games!! : Flower reaching the most wins!!! : kreider pulling out Matthew Tkachuk’s mouth guard and failing to throw it over the glass. : Florida beating Boston *again*. : that game were Sid got so pissed he screamed ‘no! No!’ at a ref so loud you could hear him over the crowd. He then proceeded to tell the ref ‘you fucked up’ :when Erik Karlsson made a mistake that sent the game to ot, scored in ot and then fell to his knees in relief. : that 10 to 2 victory over the sharks that was also Sid’s 1200 game. : sid scoring a goal off his ass. It had to happen one day : the pens ot win against vancouver back in Feb. The notable thing was that I was there with my dad and sisters <3
It's the little things that make hockey so fun!
Here's to a wonderful 24/25 season!
(*Seriously, if you haven't already, read Serenity in Those Deep Waters by @angry-geno-is-score on ao3, it's *fabulously* emotional and I can't recommend it enough)

If Donald Trump returns to the White House, close allies want to dramatically change the government's interpretation of Civil Rights-era laws to focus on "anti-white racism" rather than discrimination against people of color.
Why it matters: Trump's Justice Department would push to eliminate or upend programs in government and corporate America that are designed to counter racism that has favored whites.
Targets would range from decades-old policies aimed at giving minorities economic opportunities, to more recent programs that began in response to the pandemic and the killing of George Floyd.
Trump campaign spokesperson Steven Cheung told Axios: "As President Trump has said, all staff, offices, and initiatives connected to Biden's un-American policy will be immediately terminated."
Driving the news: Longtime aides and allies preparing for a potential second Trump administration have been laying legal groundwork with a flurry of lawsuits and legal complaints — some of which have been successful.
A central vehicle for the effort has been America First Legal, founded by former Trump aide Stephen Miller, who has called the group conservatives' "long-awaited answer to the ACLU."
America First cited the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in February in a lawsuit against CBS and Paramount Global for what the group argued was discrimination against a white, straight man who was a writer for the show "Seal Team" in 2017.
In February, the group filed a civil rights complaint against the NFL over its "Rooney Rule."
The rule — named for Dan Rooney, late owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers — was instituted in 2003 and expanded in 2022. It requires NFL teams to interview at least two minority candidates for vacant general manager, head coach and coordinator positions.
American First argued that "given the limited time frame to hire executives and coaches after the season, this results in fewer opportunities for similarly situated, well-qualified candidates who are not minorities."
In 2021, Miller's group successfully sued to block the implementation of a $29 billion pandemic-era program for women- and minority-owned restaurants, saying it discriminated against white-owned businesses.
"This ruling is the first, but crucial, step towards ending government-sponsored racial discrimination," Miller said then.
Zoom in: Other Trump-aligned groups are preparing for a future Trump Justice Department to implement — or challenge — policies on a broader scale.
The Heritage Foundation's well-funded "Project 2025" envisions a second Trump administration ending what it calls "affirmative discrimination."
Part of the plan, written by former Trump Justice Department official Gene Hamilton, argues that "advancing the interests of certain segments of American society ... comes at the expense of other Americans — and in nearly all cases violates longstanding federal law."
Hamilton is America First Legal's general counsel.
Such groups have gained momentum with the Supreme Court's turn to the right — most notably its recent rejection of affirmative action in college admissions. The court ruled that programs designed to benefit people of color and address past injustices discriminate against white and Asian Americans.
In 2021, a federal judge blocked a $4 billion program to help Black farmers.
Earlier this month, another federal judge ruled that the Commerce Department's Minority Business Development Agency was discriminating against white people and that the program had to be open to everyone.
What they're saying: The Trump campaign directed Axios to the candidate's already stated positions bashing Biden's policies promoting equity.
"Every institution in America is under attack from this Marxist concept of 'equity,' " Trump said in 2023. "I will get this extremism out of the White House, out of the military, out of the Justice Department, and out of our government."
The Trump campaign's Steven Cheung added: "President Trump is committed to weeding out discriminatory programs and racist ideology across the federal government."
The NFL and Miller declined to comment. CBS didn't respond to a request for comment.
Between the lines: A CBS poll last November found that 58% of Trump voters believe that people of color were advantaged over white people — just 9% of Biden voters said the same.
Polls also show, however, that Trump is gaining support among Black and Latino voters.
Zoom out: Trump has portrayed himself as the victim of racism amid his legal troubles.
He repeatedly has said Black women prosecutors in Georgia and New York are "racist."
His political career really began in 2011 as the chief Birther-agitator, questioning Barack Obama's eligibility to be president.
When Trump jumped into the presidential race in 2015, he accused Mexico of dumping criminals and rapists into the U.S.

🏎️ Why Couldn't Verstappen Win the WC in 2020?
Main post! 2021 Links for 2022, 2023, and 2024 coming soon!
The 2020 Season
Max Verstappen's journey to becoming a four-time Formula 1 World Champion (as of 2024) has been nothing short of remarkable. Each season brought unique challenges and triumphs that showcased his talent and Red Bull Racing's prowess. Let’s delve into how the 2020 championship slipped through his grasp before his great success!
The 2020 Formula 1 season was a significant turning point for Max Verstappen, despite the insurmountable dominance of Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton. Verstappen’s skill and determination shone through the challenges posed by the superior W11 car, widely considered one of the greatest machines in F1 history. Mercedes excelled across all metrics: power, aerodynamics, and reliability, with Hamilton taking 11 victories and teammate Valtteri Bottas adding two more. This left only two wins for Verstappen in a season where Red Bull's RB16 struggled to compete consistently at the top.
Red Bull RB16’s Struggles
The RB16 demonstrated promising peak performance but suffered from instability and inconsistency, especially in handling low-speed corners. Straight-line speed deficits also hindered Red Bull's challenge against the mighty Mercedes. Furthermore, the car’s setup was notoriously tricky, making it difficult for Verstappen’s teammate Alexander Albon to contribute meaningfully to the team's Constructors’ Championship battle. Red Bull’s car development pattern—traditionally finding performance gains later in the season—also played a role. By the time the RB16 became more competitive, Mercedes had already sealed the championship titles.
Reliability Woes
Reliability was a significant weakness for Verstappen in 2020. Mechanical issues led to costly DNFs at the Tuscan Grand Prix (collision) and the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix (tyre failure), among others. These setbacks prevented Verstappen from consistently capitalizing on opportunities, leaving him further behind in the title fight.
Standout Performances
Despite these challenges, Verstappen’s talent was evident in his standout performances. His victory at the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix at Silverstone came through clever tyre management, as he capitalized on Mercedes' struggles with blistering in high temperatures. Similarly, his dominant win at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the season finale, showcased Red Bull’s improvement and Verstappen’s ability to execute a perfect race when given the right tools.
Lessons for 2021
The struggles of 2020 laid the groundwork for Verstappen’s eventual success. Red Bull’s understanding of the RB16’s weaknesses informed the development of the RB16B for 2021, which proved capable of matching Mercedes on more occasions. Verstappen’s experiences from 2020 also helped him mature as a driver, improving his consistency and adaptability, setting the stage for his first championship-winning campaign.
2020 was not just a season of lost opportunities for Verstappen but a critical learning curve that prepared him for the fierce title battle to come.

THE TRAILER PARK, WISKAYOK, 1996.
maeve is as much a stranger to wiskayok as wiskayok is to maeve.  no one really knows her; she deliberately makes it hard— she doesn’t want to know the people of wiskayok more than she has to– her world has always been the trailer park.  she is even more a stranger to the girls of the wiskayok soccer team; maeve has never played sports, refuses to run the mile, her reason for being on that plane was still one of her own making.  two months prior to the crash, sean was caught selling drugs on school grounds, and under the threat of the police being involved, maeve decided to take the fall—[he was cleaning up his act, getting a job, they were going to live together again and maeve wouldn’t still be in the trailer park in ten years time]  she took responsibility for the dealing, claimed them as her own and she was expelled from wiskayok high school pending board agreement.   she got lucky, she knows she did when she was invited back to finish her education under certain conditions: one of which that she was to support the school newspaper in reporting on the soccer team as they neared nationals; to hopefully bring the trophy home. so she goes, packs her bag and entered the plane that would seal her fate.
in the wilderness, maeve doesn’t have a set skill that makes her immediately useful. she wants to pull her weight, completes chore after chore—   she went out with the group in hopes of finding rescue but only finding wolves.   she discouraged lauralee with the plane[and she was right to do so–still she mourns].    she doesn’t believe in the wilderness being something deeper, but rather luck.   she’s an outsider who is happy remaining outside the rest of the group, gets on with the day.   at the end of season 2, maeve is alone in the attic during natalie’s crowning— the wilderness’ claws haven’t sunk deep enough as she faces the immense guilt following the consumption.  she barely escapes in the fire–   sometimes, she wishes she didn’t.
MAEVE'S APARTMENT, LONDON, 2021.
if maeve survives the wilderness, she goes on to have a semi successful career in writing and publishing.   she moves to the uk where even less people know her name, she is able to hide in obscurity and not have prying eyes looking for answers to those months in the wilderness within her writing.  she is careful not to let things slip,  keeps her genres far from the realities of her life.   she travels to wiskayok for the reunion but doesn’t quite make it through the door—    it’s almost to gloat, look at what i’ve become!   she stays in town but doesn’t let herself become too comfortable.

It doesn’t take a team of federal agents to figure out that if you picked up this magazine, you’re probably one of the 300 million people from around the world who watched some version of NCIS last year. That’s just a smidge under the entire population of the United States.
The massive fandom around the military procedural, which reigns as the most watched drama on broadcast TV, began in 2003 with a spectacular series premiere from cocreators Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill. The episode, inspired by the 1997 movie Air Force One, introduced what would become the show’s signature recipe of action, emotion, and a dash of humor when agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) and Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) investigate a mysterious death aboard the presidential plane.
We fell in love with Gibbs’ gruffness (OK, his good looks didn’t hurt either) and Ducky’s intellect. We were intrigued by the twisty case and fascinated by an agency we’d never heard of: the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, which solves crimes involving the Navy and Marine Corps.
Tumblr media
The distinct characters back at HQ sealed the deal. The original cast included a roundup of agents with lovable quirks: by-the-book profiler Caitlin Todd (Sasha Alexander), flirtatious Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly), and tech geek Tim McGee (Sean Murray). In the lab, we got the unexpected goth/nerd forensic specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) and Ducky’s dedicated and sensitive assistant Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen).
Over the years, NCIS built a reliable world that we could return to every week. It was governed by “Gibbs’ Rules,” practical guidelines for successfully solving cases and living life (new ones popped up all the time). We got to know our beloved characters better through eye-opening backstories, sometimes revealing tragic incidents. There were in-office rivalries and romances. (Tony and Ziva [Cote de Pablo] forever! — their story will continue in a new spinoff) Recognizable baddies kept coming back for more until the agents took them out—as we cheered them on from our sofas.
And those agents handled it all with the qualities expected at the real-life U.S. Naval Academy: “competence, character, compassion.” In a tumultuous world, it was a comfort to hang out at Navy Yard HQ in the bullpen, aka “the big orange room,” with decent folks like that.
As with any workplace, people have come and gone. Some we lost tragically. Others opted to move on. Saying goodbye to Gibbs when he retired in 2021 was the hardest. But NCIS has a way of reinventing itself. The new team leader, Alden Parker (Gary Cole), is more gregarious than the taciturn Gibbs, but as we’ve learned since he arrived, like his predecessor, he’s got plenty from his past that haunts him.
Bringing to life the multilayered characters of NCIS are writers, producers and crew, many of them with the show for decades. (Some even worked on JAG, the military legal drama from which NCIS spun off.) They’ve expanded into multiple spinoffs: NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Hawai‘i. The latest, NCIS: Sydney, debuted in November 2023.
Speaking to the deep staying power of not just the format but the characters, a forthcoming prequel, NCIS: Origins, will tell the story of a young Gibbs. Mark Harmon’s son Sean played the junior Leroy in NCIS flashbacks, but the new series will cast a different actor. Both Harmons will serve as executive producers.
The possibilities for the future of NCIS are endless. Bring on the milestone 1,000th episode of the franchise, coming in April!

Is there any modern isekai anime you think are actually worth watching? Or is it all just the same toxic wish fulfilment garbage at this point?
Fear not anon, there's actually some good modern isekai anime still! But first, some hearsay:
-While I didn't personally vibe with it, I've heard a lot of good things about Re:Zero, but I've also heard a lot of bad and cringe things about it, so it's up to you I guess
-Ascendance of a Bookworm is another I don't know anything about, but I've heard good things
Now for the ones I have actually watched:
-My next life as the villainess: all routes lead to doom! is a 2021 isekai where a teen girl dies and gets reborn into the world of her favorite dating sim, but she's in the body of Katarina, the awful rotten-hearted villainess, and to top it all off she's 7 years-old.
Katarina soon realizes that, if her new life progresses the same as the game's, all she's got to look forward to is banishment or death, because game!Katarina is a major bitch so nobody loves her, and she starts taking measures for her inevitable doom: she learns to farm so she'll be able to procure food is she's banished, tries her hand at magic and swordfighting so she'll be able to defend herself, and other stuff like that
She's also a naturally nice person to everybody in the game so all the boys and girls end up falling in love with her, which she completely doesn't notice because she's dead certain that the game has to go on the preplanned route so she has no idea everybody who's supposed to romance and/or befriend the game's protagonist wants to jump her bones instead.
It's a pretty fun series, and while it's no benchmark of storytelling, it does have a few genuinely good plot twists and heartwarming moments. I wish it would end up as a proper bisexual harem, but I knows the odds aren't good, sadly.
Also, if you do watch it, stick to the first season. The second season is bad. Like Bad bad. Makes you regret the time you spent watching it-Bad. There's a movie coming on December, which I hope is good and redeems the franchise, but if not, the first season is good
Saihate no Paladin/The Faraway Paladin is another 2021 isekai where a random dude gets reincarnated as a baby in the ruins where a great evil is sealed, and gets adopted by three undead: a skeleton warrior, a mummy priestess and a ghost wizard. They raise him, teach him to fight, magic and miracles, and then send him off to the world when he turns 15. It's a pretty decent story, it has a slow start, taking some 5 episode to properly set up the MC's circumstances and goals before his journey, and it's got a second season coming on October so if you wanna catch up, you'll get more content soon
My only problem with it is that it should be a fantasy anime. The isekai part is... I mean it's there, it seems like there will be something with the gods and the different cycles of reincarnation, but it could very easily have been a fantasy story and lose nothing. The main character having been a random japanese man before reincarnating doesn't really add anything, so idk if you wanna count it as an isekai or not
Tensei Shitara Ken Deshita is a 2022 isekai-that-should-have-been-a-fantasy where another random japanese dude is reincarnated into a magic sword. He immediately goes "welp, time to discard everything about my previous life and be the best sword I can" and begins slaughtering monsters to grind levels. He eventually becomes a super OP weapon and that's when he gets found by his future master, a preteen catgirl slave whose caravan is escaping from a two-headed zombie bear
The catgirl gets the sword and kills the bear, the sword uses his telekinetic powers to kill the slaver by snapping his neck 180° degrees, burns the slave contract and they team up. The sword restores the girl's name, Fran, which she had lost when she became a slave, and Fran names the sword "Teacher", and they set out to grind levels so that Fran may evolve - because she's a member of the Black Cat race, which is the only race in that world that can't evolve, which is why they're discriminated and sold as slaves, and Fran wants to prove her race can evolve after all
This one I have a love-hate relationship with. It does a lot of the shit I hate on other isekais, but it also does a lot of things I like. Yes, Fran is ridiculously OP with little effort thanks to being able to share Teacher's skills, and she breezes through most challenges effortlessly which is often anticlimactic as hell, but she's got an actual tangible goal and a personality so she's already more interesting than your average isekai MC. There's no romance and almost no fanservice, and when there is it's always with the adult women in the series, so that's another bullet dodged
But on the other hand, the slavery plot is introduced, and then dropped almost entirely except for a bunch of obviously evil people who all get punished, and meanwhile everybody else is super nice to Fran and nobody brings up the fact that hey, she was a legal slave until not too long ago and her race is still being enslaved and nobody's doing anything about it, ain't that fucked up? No? Nobody wanna say anything? Idk, it's a fun romp but it's also very power-fantasy-trash at the same time. It's got a second season confirmed in production, maybe that will do something with the slavery plot
The Magical Revolution of the Reincarnated Princess and the Genius Young Lady is a 2023 series that should really have a shorter name, my god. It's another should've-been-a-fantasy isekai and it's. Hmm. It's got some amazing first episodes, but then they tried to cram A LOT of plot into the rest and fucked it all up. A lot of stuff makes very little sense, character motivations are all out of whack, and you get the feeling that they really needed another cour, or at least 6 more episodes, to fit it all in properly
It's one of those series that you can see the potential it had, how great it could've been if it had been allowed, and it makes you kinda sad that you'll never see it unless you go to read the light novels. The reason for this rush is that the studio wanted to end the series on the end of the third light novel, which is where the main girl gets together with her girlfriend as a canon, explicit, openly gay couple, which is a deeply respectable, dare I even say admirable goal, but I still wish it had had more episodes so it hadn't had to sacrifice the rest of the series for it
The Executioner and her Way of Life is a 2022 series, the final pick of the list, and the one I like the most, so of course it's only got one season and no confirmed sequel because god hates me, personally
The main character, Menou, is a teenage priestess from her world's church, and she's also in charge of killing all the japanese people who get isekai'd into her world. Menou doesn't enjoy the killing and feels guilty for it, but she knows she must do it to stop the ridiculous powers the isekai'd are given from bringing ruin to her world. One such power is the one that turned her whole village, people and buildings alike, into ash when she was little. She was rescued and raised by Flare, the world's strongest warrior, whose power is only matched by her mental instability, which she gladly passed to her apprentice
The story proper begins when Menou meets Akari, the new japanese teenager in town, and finds out Akari's power prevents her from dying. Thus, Menou takes Akari on a trip across the continent to see the sights and find a weapon strong enough to kill her before Akari goes nuclear. Akari, meanwhile, is ecstatic, because she doesn't know Menou wants to kill her, and because she's down horrendous for her from the moment their eyes meet, loudly and openly fantasizing about the romantic adventures they'll have and telling her stuff like "you're the only one for me" to her face
As the series goes on, you start to notice there's something very, very wrong with Akari
Another such character is Momo, Menou's junior who is also loudly and openly in lesbians with her, very annoyed that Menou spends so much time with Akari, and also very off in the head. I hope you're seeing a pattern here
The final character in this delightful ensemble is Asuna, the princess of the realm and the most well adjusted character in the series. She's a wandering knight who loves a good fight and develops the most hilarious crush on Momo, who wants nothing to do with her and is constantly antagonizing Asuna, attacking her, ambushing her and throwing her into deadly traps, only for the princess to walk it off and offer to buy her a drink. It's honestly hilarious
And there you have it, my personal isekai reccommendation list. Hope you find at least one that suits your tastes

🏎️💨 THE FORMULA 1 TAG GAME! 🏎️💨
Who or what got you into F1?
i've always been into it mainly because my dad used to watch f1 back when michael & ferrari were dominating the sport, but then he stopped when michael retired the first time? lmao, so me and my brother stopped following the sport as well. i kind of got back into it when seb won his championships at red bull, but the full hyperfixation mode started in the 2021 season.
Who was the very first F1 driver you supported? Do you support them now? Have your opinions on them differed or stayed the same since then?
MICHAEL SCHUMACHER. ever since i was a kid he remains THEE greatest of all time for me and i doubt that that's ever going to change.
Who's your current favorite F1 driver?
charles leclerc, followed VERY closely by max verstappen.
Is there a driver pairing or pairings that you support? What made you attracted to that pairing in the first place?
max/charles. i am sorry but their lore, their history is just unparalleled.
Do your parents, siblings, or relatives have a favorite team and/or favorite driver(s)?
although my dad doesn't follow the sport as much anymore, he's still a tifoso and he's warming up to the idea of charles restoring the team to its glory (the move charles made on checo in vegas 2023 kind of sealed the deal for him); and my brother.. *sighs* he's a checo fan (THE DISGRACE!).
Do you have any favorite races? Are there any that stand out to you the most?
in no particular order: barcelona 2016, monza 2019, silverstone 2019, abu dhabi 2021 (but to be fair, that whole season is one for the ages), australia 2022, austria 2022, vegas 2023 and abu dhabi 2023.
Do you have a favorite circuit? Can be from the past or from the current calendar.
monaco, spa francorchamps, imola, monza and red bull ring.
Have you ever been to an F1 race in real life? Feel free to tell us your experience going to one if you like.
not yet but I. AM. COOKING.
Have you ever met an F1 driver in real life?
no :(
Do you have a favorite F1 car? If so, what is it?
michael's ferrari f2004 and max's rb19 a.k.a 'rocky'.
Do you have a favorite one win wonder?
my favorite baguette: pierre gasly <3
Do you have any favourite quotes from the F1 world? This can be either inspirational or hilarious.
there are so many but these three are the first that come to mind:
"Everybody is a Ferrari fan. Even if they say they’re not, they are Ferrari fans." (Sebastian Vettel)
"Maybe God is with Hamilton, but he's not God." (Max Verstappen)
"By being a racing driver, you are under risks all of the time. By being a racing driver means, you are racing with other people and if you no longer go for a gap that exists, you're no longer a racing driver." (Ayrton Senna)
———
thank youuu my beloveds @supercollide & @fueledbyremembering this was incredibly fun <3
tagging @lewispullsman @fabbyf1 @wisteria-wisteria (no pressure though!) and anyone else who wants to do it.

Max Verstappen wins the championship for the third time 🫠
Tumblr media
Max Verstappen was crowned Formula One world champion for the third time, taking the title in the sprint of the Qatar Grand Prix on Saturday. Verstappen's victory was a moment that seemed inevitable since the first race of the season, when he led the grid of start to finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The 26-year-old, who has won 13 of 16 races so far this season, needed to finish sixth or better in the sprint, a shortened version of the traditional Sunday feature race that was introduced for the first time in the 2021 season, to obtain the title.
When his teammate, the Mexican Sergio Pérez (the only other driver who could challenge Verstappen for the championship), crashed on lap 11 of 19, it meant that he would not score any championship points, practically giving him the qualification.
With Verstappen qualifying third for the 100km race under the lights of the Lusail circuit and Perez five places behind at the start line, it seemed inevitable that Verstappen would successfully defend his title on Saturday.
McLaren's Oscar Piastri, who qualified on pole position, won a thrilling sprint involving three safety cars. His teammate Lando Norris was third, passing Mercedes' George Russell late in the race.
A season dominated from the first race
Hints of a possible fight within Red Bull itself began to emerge early in the season when Sergio Pérez and Verstappen shared two wins each after the first four races, but the Dutchman's record streak of 10 consecutive victories confirmed his absolute authority.
The team sealed its second consecutive constructors' championship at the Japanese Grand Prix last month with six races still remaining.
The team's car has been widely hailed as one of the best ever built in the sport, and in some ways it has proven even more successful than last year's model, which won 17 of 22 races.
When such an impressive car is driven by one of the all-time greats, as Verstappen is now, it is sporting alchemy.
"Everything he has done this year has been phenomenal," team manager Christian Horner told Sky Sports.
“He is the most competitive driver I have ever met. The determination with which he drives, the passion, the heart, the commitment and, of course, the abundance of skill he has, make him among the best." With this title, Verstappen joins the greats Jack Brabham, Jackie Stewart , Niki Lauda, Nelson Piquet and Ayrton Senna as three-time world champions of this sport.
Only five other drivers have won more world titles: Michael Schumacher, Lewis Hamilton, Juan Manuel Fangio, Alain Prost and Sebastian Vettel.

Here's something that definitely should be fun hopefully....
This is a full-on pitch for a modern Kim Possible reboot that is not only a fresh new take on the OG series but also to top it off is also of actual quality.
Give it a read.
PITCH:
Team Global Justice
The premise is this on the following below —
Set in the fictional Middleton, Colorado, the series follows high school cheerleader captain Kimberly Ann "Kim" Possible who is too cocky and at times full of herself for her own good. Thinking she can do anything with her family saying "Anything is possible for a Possible", she's about to learn that sometimes that is not the case at all when her incredible cheerleading skills including her agility and flexibility brings her to the attention of a recent agent-turned-villain named Shego who has her own vague reasons for going after Kim.
However things ultimately take a drastic and unexpected turn when after being arrested by the secret government organization named Global Justice for different but high stake reasons, Kim and Shego along with the latter's henchwomen, the speedster robot triplets built by her called the Bebes and Kim's rival Bonnie Rockwaller who's been working for Shego for a while, all decide or rather have no choice in the matter to team up with each other and become a team working for GJ in stopping the most deadliest supervillains from taking over the world or anything else in the field.
Their name: Team Global Justice.
Their mission: Stop evil and protect the world at all costs.
Details:
• Christy Carlson Romano, Nicole Sullivan, Kerri Kenney Silver and Kirsten Storms will all reprise their roles as Kim, Shego, the Bebes and Bonnie.
• Shego and the Bebes will be given new backstories — Shego was an FBI agent named Kim Verrick (ha) who graduated top of her class and a black belt in martial arts that after an "incident" which gave her her powers, went to the other side while the Bebes were triplet sisters in high ranking positions (one was a Navy SEAL, one was a police officer and one was a U.S. soldier) that all got involved in said "incident" and were left dead, only for Shego to bring them back to life as indestructible robots. Funny enough, their real names aren't even "Bebe".
• To keep things interesting, everything revolving around Shego will be kept ambigious from her motivations for turning evil, why she went after Kim, how she brought the Bebes back to life, how she got Bonnie involved but there will be hints.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Also to shake things up, all of the team will have their bumbling, screw-up, boob moments to show that none of them are perfect even on missions but it will actually make sense in the context as they're all starting out.
Tumblr media
• On top of that, the team will be given their own distinct lair or HQ or hideout and that's Shego's lair underground that is a twisted casino funhouse a la Oogie Boogie-esque as Shego says one of her favorite hobbies that always relaxed her was gambling in Las Vegas.
• As for the show itself, it will still retain the witty and self-aware, satirical humor of the OG series since it so obviously wouldn't be Kim Possible without it but it will also have a darker and more intense edge to it to show the actual danger that all of the characters are in and the threats they're facing.
• I picture it running for three seasons with 67 episodes as a whole total and it being done in the same but still HD updated animation style of the OG series.
• The theme song will be a new version of the original with Christina Millan back but this time it's called "Call Us, Beep Us".
Tumblr media
• One last thing that I will say about this is that through little easter eggs and references, it will be heavily implied that Team Global Justice is set in the same albeit retroactive shared universe as others such as Thief (1981), Heat (1995), The Incredibles (2004) and Nobody (2021).

Honestly, the problem with F1 is that they changed the regulations. Like in 2021, RB had JUST caught up to Merc and I think the whole sport can agree it was an exciting season. Now it's gonna be another few years of this shit for teams to catch up to RB. Just stop this, please. I don't want to be in the RB era. It's so shit. Ferrari/Merc will probs catch up in 3 years and then they'll change the rules again.
I do believe that something is not working quite right with the sport at the moment.
Besides the Australian GP, which was... Uh... something 😂 even last year when the championship was already sealed from the get go, we still had some great GPs watching the midfield battling it out. Personally, I find that this year has been a bit "lackluster"? Baku being a prime example of it.
I cannot remember where I read the statistics but (if I recall correctly) 2022 had an increase in overtaking by 25% compared to the five previous racing seasons. This year it looks like it will be much less compared to 2022 - that being said, we're only 5 races in, so... 🤷‍♀️

Jos Verstappen fails to acknowledge Sergio Perez as he celebrates his Saudi Arabian GP win
His face says it all! Jos Verstappen fails to acknowledge Sergio Perez as he celebrates his Saudi Arabian Grand Prix victory right in front of him, despite Red Bull claiming another one-two to continue their dominant start to the season By Sam Brookes For Mailonline Published: 06:33 EDT, 20 March 2023 | Updated: 06:33 EDT, 20 March 2023 Everyone at Red Bull was delighted to see Sergio Perez get on the top step of the podium at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Well, almost everyone. One man who didn't appear particularly thrilled by Perez's win was Jos Verstappen. Sunday's race proved to be another dominant one for Red Bull with Perez leading from the front, while Verstappen came through from 15th after engine problems in qualifying to finish second. Yet that didn't seem to be good enough for his father who was watching on from trackside.  As Perez stepped out of his car, he was mobbed by his jubilant team having picked up just the fifth win of his Formula One career. Making his way along the fencing, Perez hugged multiple team members and received a slap on the back, but Verstappen Sr did not even acknowledge the Mexican as he stared into the distance. Jos Verstappen (left) stared into the distance while Sergio Perez celebrated his Grand Prix win Max Verstappen had to settle for second but still leads the standings by a point It took a nudge on the arm from some of the Red Bull crew for Jos to even glance at the celebrations happening right in front of him, as he appeared to force a half-smile before looking away again. Verstappen Sr, who raced in F1 himself between 1994 and 2003, has kept a close eye on his son's career ever since he made his debut as a 17-year-old in 2015. After winning the 2021 championship in controversial circumstances ahead of Lewis Hamilton, Verstappen Jr dominated the 2022 season and made the perfect start to the current campaign by winning the opening race in Bahrain earlier this month. He had to settle for second-best this time around, though, and his father did not look happy at all to miss out on another win. However, he may take some comfort from knowing his son still leads the standings by a solitary point over Perez. Verstappen recorded the fastest lap of the race right at the end in Jeddah to seal an extra point, much to the bemusement of Perez who claimed his team had told him to hold his pace in the closing stages.      Share or comment on this article: Jos Verstappen fails to acknowledge Sergio Perez as he celebrates his Saudi Arabian GP win via Formula One | Mail Online https://www.dailymail.co.uk?ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490&ito=1490

write me your words of wonder
you want to be thought of with intent, for someone to sit down and want to share their thoughts with you specifically. and their thoughts about you, even more. for someone to Know you, or at least desire the knowledge. for them to write it out in a way that you can read as quickly or slowly as you desire. that you can reread again and again, or lock in a box and never read after that first quick consumption. you crave that tangibility. and the small moments that lead up to the letter being in your hand. to be told, 'it's in the mail' and then to have the simple joy of checking the mailbox to see if it has come today. to hold the envelope and feel the love within. there is a purpose of intent within physically written words, and it patches the parts of you that feel like you aren't worth thinking about. my darling, know that you are. you are worth intentional thought and cursive letters and an envelope sealed with a kiss.

WITCH Season 2 - Nerissa’s revenge Rewrite
So this is a continuation of how CHYKN’s characterization is different from comics to tv show. And I fell into a tangent about how I’d change the tv show if I got to reboot WITCH. I don’t have ideas for Season 1 yet but I have stuff for season 2.
I am starting to think they tried to fit way too much in season two which is why it flopped but I get it. They wanted to make an action packed season like the first one but also darker. I can think of ideas on how to pay homage to the ex guardians and giving each a nice story to get to know their characters better. It would have been nice to have an episode or two that focused on the five of them and their stories. Perhaps seeing them in school, how they learned of their destiny and how they worked together as a team. It would also be nice to have like hints in the background like how they do in the Owl House. Eventually we could get to the tragedy and the falling out. In the end of the two parter, we’d see how the remaining three decided to remain friends but to distance from each other, a big mistake they didn’t realize until Nerissa came back and corrupted each of them. We could combine elements from the Tv show and the comics. Season two would obviously focus on trauma. The WITCH girls but their stuff would be paralleled by CHYKN’s story. We’d learn about the old guardians and have the new ones learn from the old ones’ mistakes which is what the comics emphasized.
Kadma and Halinor are the couple of the group. Cassidy and Nerissa were star crossed lovers doomed from the beginning but Kalinor were the envy of all of Sheffield. And it’s 2022 so we want healthy wlw representation up in here. These two are all about battling the patriarchy and its backwards, archaic, hypocritic rules. They could be the foundation of the group. They knew and loved each since elementary when Kadma first moved to Heatherfield. Then they met Nerissa, a queer baby they had to take under their wing and the adorable Cassidy who easily melted their hearts and soundly absorbed her into their group. Yan Lin was the final addition to the team and they all loved her greatly as their newest sister. Kadma had reservations about becoming a guardian but it’s Halinor who convinced her how much good they could with this opportunity beyond just Earth. The Guardians have more than often been a group of magical women doing good across the infinite dimensions, how could Halinor say no to that. While growing up, they’d start the Rising Star Foundation. The two were guardians and life partners. No one could really pull them apart. They were Earth and Fire melded together. Nothing was more precious to them than each other. Nothing but their fellow guardians. They were all so incredibly close in a way only other guardian groups could understand. Which is why the tragedy with Nerissa and Cassidy shook their couple hard. Without their heart, even the foundation crumbled. Yan Lin was all about harmony and she desperately wanted to keep that but Kalinin began drifting apart but that was in vain. They just didn’t work as cohesively as a trio. They stood together for many things starting with denouncing the oracle but things just weren’t the same anymore. Kadma began hardened and dispassioned about magic and Halinor no longer recognized the women she once loved and stopped believing in Kadma. The final straw that promptly led to their breakup was Kadma taking up the crown of Zamballah. They were going to leave the whole magical business behind and Kadma takes this up? Halinor and Yan Lin end up becoming a duo for a few more years until they both decide it’s time to end their guardianship. Yan Lin stays in Heatherfield while Halinor moves away. Kadma visits her old friends but quite rarely. And Halinor and Yan Lin are called from time to time to Kandrakar to discuss certain issues. Halinor May still have reservations but she still recognizes the good and honor Kandrakar does, even years after she spoke out against the oracle. I won’t write everything I have planned for season two here but I know I still want Nerissa to come after her old friends and collect them for her team of guardians to take over the magical universe. Nerissa would want to capture Cassidy’s soul first. But when couldn’t corrupt her soul, she let her go and created an Altermere that got to live and love for a bit while she collected the others. I imagine she’d attack Halinor and Kadma together. She’ll threaten Zamballa and make a show of it on Kandrakar. Halinor would be the first to fall into Nerissa’s corruption and this is how she gets revealed as a threat. Next up, Zamballa where Nerissa still preys upon Kadma’s inflated arrogance from years untreated grief and trauma. She could have used her love for Halinor but she knew without Halinor to balance her out, Kadma is practically defenseless. Next she goes to Yan Lin. Yan Lin was known for her strength of character too. Nerissa couldn’t corrupt her either and was forced to build a second altermere. This use of flagrant use of magic to copy a life distabilizes Nerissa further. Then easily she corrupts Cassidy’s altermere.
The team’s all back together and with double WITCH’s power. But in time, Irma wakes them up from Nerissa’s thrall and more in fighting begins with the five of them. It seems like Nerissa is about to lose when she absorbs all four of her friends into Meridian’s heart and gains all of their powers. She continues to build an army against Kandrakar when Will remembers she wants the heart of Kandrakar specifically. The girls have managed to delay her takeover but for how long. In the current circumstances, it’s best to just give Nerissa the heart and she gives up the heart of Zamballa. That’s where real Cassidy steps in with her copy of the heart, her Star. This gives the girls the power to return to Kandrakar and fight Nerissa. Nerissa brings terror and nightmare to the temple like in the comics but what she didn’t count on was the heart of meridian cracking and the ex guardians + real Yan Lin and Elyon escape (yes she was trapped in there too like in the show). This makes Nerissa susceptible to the Terrors she unleashed on everyone too. During the nightmare sequences she gave everyone, we get to see what unknown forces pushed Nerissa to evil and we get to understand her personal traumas better. In this sequence the old and new guardians come together to fight Nerissa and her goons. The new guardians are fighting to defeat her, the old ones are fighting to possibly heal their old friend. They nearly succeed when altermere Cassidy gets killed. This awakens Nerissa’s heart and her evil side gets detached from her long enough for the new guardians to destroy Nerissa for good. Real Cassidy appears and absorbs altermere Cassidy which allows her to linger just a bit longer in the real world. The dreamscape ends and everyone is back in the temple. The old guardians gather around a dying Nerissa who’s back to the self before she was corrupted. She acknowledges the horrors she unleashed upon the world and apologizes for destroying their group, saying she let her heart decay since childhood.Cassidy mentions the two of them were opposites on the good and evil scales and purely existed to balance each other. Kadma asks where did she hear that, the oracle? No Cassidy learned that in death. She helps her friends see that their story, albeit tragic and painful made way to a beautiful future and to an even more powerful group of guardians. Had they not been, A darkness would have led to the fall of kandrakar and WITCH would not have existed. Cassidy urges Kadma and Halinor to make up, because they still love each other dearly. Nerissa couldn’t have corrupted either if they weren’t each other’s greatness strength and weakness. Cassidy can’t linger much longer but she smiles brightly telling her friends she’s missed them all greatly, and while she’s ecstatic Nerissa will be joining her, she will wait patiently for the remaining three to cross over. Nerissa finds it beautiful that she gets to end her life with the people dearest to her heart in their most beautiful selves, exactly how she held them in her memory. The five ex guardians hug one last time uttering a saying they hold dearly to their hearts (like an inside joke). Their trauma may not be completely healed, but at least it’s not unbearable to think about anymore.
By the end of the season, Cassidy and Nerissa remain blissful in death, Yan Lin is still living her life with her granddaughter and new guardians in Heatherfield while also making plans to join Kandrakar, and Halinor and Kadma are back together, living in Fadden Hills as advisors to Rising Star but also coming to Heatherfield to visit Yan Lin from time to time.

Thalia approving Jasico
Since I can’t find it, I’ll rewrite it myself just so I know it’s on my blog. It’s such a good concept: When Jason and Nico got together, you’d think Thalia would give Nico the shovel talk. So it came to everyone’s surprise that it was Jason who got the rough treatment.
Thalia: look here you little shit. This angel has been through so much. He deserves some happiness in his life so if you do anything to break his heart, I will personally escort you to Tartarus and dump you there.
Jason, sweating nervously: You’re MY sister Thals, WTF?
Just more Nico di Angelo Protection Squad shenanigans cause we deserve to see it.

It was May 17, 2017. The Plaza Hotel’s Food Hall and adjacent spaces over multiple floors were packed with people for CBS‘ annual upfront party — an opulent display in the final years of broadcast dominance. Having won the lottery — beating the daunting odds of pilot season where hundreds of scripts vie for 20 so pilot spots and ultimately a handful of series pickups by a major network — the teams behind the new CBS shows were beaming. Except for the producers of military drama SEAL Team, who were not in a festive mood.
The reason was an effort by CBS brass to replace the female lead opposite star David Boreanaz in the pilot, Jessica Paré. There was already a red flag for eagle-eyed attendees at the network’s upfront presentation at Carnegie Hall earlier that afternoon when the cast of SEAL Team walked onstage sans Paré. The absence spoke volumes as it was a broadcast ritual — if your pilot gets picked up, you are going to the upfronts — except if you get a call that you are being recast.
There was nothing official at the time, but the SEAL Team producers were very worried — word was that then-CBS CEO Les Moonves himself had suggested that Paré be replaced. A former actor himself, Moonves had remained closely involved in casting decisions, and he had the ultimate say on everything, determining the fate of shows and actors. (Moonves stepped down in fall 2018 following a string of sexual misconduct allegations.)
Knowing they were facing long odds because what Moonves said went, the SEAL Team creative and producing team including star/executive producer Boreanaz, made an impassioned plea and kept at it until Paré was safe. She remained a series regular for three seasons on the drama, about an elite unit of U.S. Navy SEALs, until her character surprisingly left the unit after returning from its latest mission in Afghanistan in the December 2020 Season 4 premiere at the height of the pandemic.
Paré subsequently returned and has been recurring on the show, which is ending its run on Paramount+ this weekend after seven seasons across CBS and the streamer — a rare series that has done three or more seasons each on two different platforms.
A few months after Pare’s exit, SEAL Team faced another challenge in May 2021: it was forced to leave CBS to make room for spinoffs of crime franchises, NCIS: Hawai’i, CSI: Vegas and FBI: International, as well as medical drama Good Sam. Ironically, SEAL Team outlived three of the four series, with NCIS: Hawai’i and CSI: Vegas canceled earlier this year to make room for another NCIS spinoff, NCIS: Origins, along with other new shows.
While NCIS: Hawai’i and CSI: Vegas didn’t have options, SEAL Team moved to Paramount+ after four seasons on CBS. It’s not surprising that so few broadcast series have been able to do that successfully as it is not an easy transition, requiring major adjustments of the business framework, including budgets and salaries, as well as production logistics.
But, after a four-episode sendoff on CBS in fall 2021, the CBS Studios-produced SEAL Team migrated to the streamer, where it went on for three more seasons, with the cast and showrunner Spencer Hudnut ready for more as Season 7 had not been envisioned as a final chapter until word came last November that it would be the end.
SEAL Team‘s 2021 broadcast goodbye was not permanent: two years later, the series was summoned back, with episodes from the original run on Paramount+ used as fresh broadcast fare in fall 2023 when film and TV production was delayed by the Hollywood strikes.
Helped by a loyal fan following and wide support among veterans, SEAL Team ran for seven seasons, a very respectable lifespan in this day and age, despite the show’s high cost and limited international sale potential given its focus on American military versus the more easily translatable crime, medical and legal genres.
It is a rare series that has done well on linear and digital — it was the highest-rated CBS series to depart in May 2021, averaging 6.5 million that season. Just months later, It made Paramount+’s year-end list as the most watched original drama series on the platform for 2021.
Fittingly, SEAL Team hit another milestone before its pending end, finally cracking Nielsen’s Top 10 of streaming originals in August with its two-episode Season 7 premiere.
SEAL Team also brought into the CBS/CBS Studios fold Max Thieriot. An original cast member on the show, he went on to pitch the studio a firefighter drama based on his experience growing up in Occidental, CA. That became CBS’ hit Fire Country, co-created, exec produced and starring Thieriot, which has become the network’s newest drama franchise; offshoot Sheriff Country, headlined bv Morena Baccarin, is set for a 2025-26 launch, and another spinoff, starring Jared Padalecki, is being eyed.
After a bumpy start and a challenging run, the Benjamin Cavell-created SEAL Team comes to an end Sunday as one of few series that bridged broadcast’s heyday and the streaming era. And who knows, it may beat the odds again and come back for that stand-alone movie, which was announced in 2022 but never heard of again.

🏆 2022 - Total Domination
Main post! 2020 2021 Links for 2023 and 2024 coming soon!
The 2022 Formula 1 season marked a new era, with a major overhaul of technical regulations aimed at promoting closer racing. This reset the playing field, offering teams a fresh opportunity to innovate. Red Bull Racing, led by Adrian Newey, rose to the challenge, producing the formidable RB18. Coupled with Max Verstappen’s flawless driving, this season became a showcase of dominance.
The RB18: A Technical Masterpiece
The RB18 exemplified a well-rounded approach to the new regulations. Red Bull’s design prioritized aerodynamic efficiency and straight-line speed, leveraging ground effect to its fullest potential. While Ferrari initially appeared to match Red Bull’s pace with their F1-75, the RB18’s superior tire management and adaptability across a variety of circuits gave Verstappen a decisive edge.
Verstappen’s teammate, Sergio Pérez, had a strong start to the season, including a victory in Monaco. However, as the car's development evolved to suit Verstappen’s driving style—favoring a sharper front end and a more oversteer-prone setup—Pérez’s competitiveness waned. By mid-season, Verstappen consistently outperformed his teammate, securing Red Bull’s position at the top of both championships.
A Rocky Start and Turning Point
Verstappen’s season began with challenges. Retirements in Bahrain (fuel pump issue) and Australia (fuel system failure) put him on the back foot while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc surged ahead. However, the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at Imola marked a critical turning point. Verstappen’s Grand Slam (pole, sprint win, fastest lap, and race victory) underscored Red Bull’s growing superiority. This performance set the tone for the remainder of the season.
Key Races: Moments of Dominance
Spanish GP: Verstappen’s resilience was on display as he overcame early issues, including a trip into the gravel and DRS failures, to secure victory. Red Bull’s superior strategy and teamwork helped Verstappen capitalize on Ferrari’s errors, including Leclerc’s untimely engine failure.
Belgian GP: Starting 14th due to power unit penalties, Verstappen delivered one of the most dominant performances of the modern era. He scythed through the field with remarkable efficiency, taking the lead by Lap 12 and winning by over 17 seconds. This race highlighted not only the RB18’s straight-line speed but Verstappen’s ability to extract maximum performance in any scenario.
Japanese GP: In chaotic, rain-soaked conditions, Verstappen claimed victory and sealed the championship with four races to spare. His mastery of wet-weather racing and the RB18’s balance shone through, while Ferrari struggled with operational missteps.
Championship Sealed in Japan
Verstappen clinched his second World Championship at Suzuka under controversial and chaotic circumstances. The race, shortened by torrential rain, was initially unclear in awarding full points. However, a stellar performance by Verstappen—dominating the event despite the challenging conditions—left no doubt about his superiority.
Comparison with Ferrari and Mercedes
Ferrari: Initially the only team capable of challenging Red Bull, Ferrari’s title bid was undone by reliability issues (e.g., power unit failures in Baku and Spain), driver errors, and questionable strategic calls. Charles Leclerc, while often fast in qualifying, struggled to maintain consistency over the race distance, particularly against Verstappen’s superior tire management.
Mercedes: The W13 was plagued by porpoising early in the season, leaving them unable to challenge consistently. Despite significant progress by the season’s end, exemplified by George Russell’s win in Brazil, Mercedes were not in contention for most of the year.
Teammate Comparison: Verstappen vs. Pérez
While Sergio Pérez played a crucial role in Red Bull’s Constructors’ Championship, his performance paled in comparison to Verstappen’s. Pérez excelled in street circuits (e.g., Monaco win) and defensive driving (notably in Abu Dhabi 2021), but his pace and consistency diminished as Red Bull tailored the RB18’s development toward Verstappen’s preferences. Verstappen ended the season with 15 wins compared to Pérez’s 2, a stark indicator of the gap between the two drivers.
Why Verstappen Excelled
Technical Prowess of the RB18: The car excelled across diverse circuits, from the high-speed straights of Monza to the tight corners of Monaco.
Driver Adaptability: Verstappen adjusted to the ground-effect regulations and developed a driving style that maximised the RB18’s potential.
Tire Management: The car’s efficiency allowed Verstappen to push when needed while preserving tires in key stints.
Strategic Excellence: Red Bull's pit wall consistently outmanoeuvred competitors, ensuring Verstappen was always in a position to maximize points.
Legacy of the 2022 Season
By the season’s end, Verstappen had shattered records, including the most wins in a single season (15)—breaking the previous record held by Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel—and the most points scored (454). This year was defined less by head-to-head battles and more by an exhibition of excellence. Verstappen and Red Bull operated in near-perfect harmony, leaving rivals far behind and setting a new benchmark for dominance in modern Formula 1.
Please don’t copy my work🙏
