Spirit of Atlanta Drum & Bugle Corps
youtube
TOTALLY one of my personal & All-Time Favorites - Atlanta, Georgia’s very own Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps. Another corps that has been around a long time that has also been a dominant force in DCI in their time. I always love it when Spirit plays, Ray Charles’ classic song “Georgia on My Mind” - an essential drum corps experience for any decade. I would Totally Love to see this corps take the title one year. That would be amazing.

Pacific Crest Drum & Bugle Corps
youtube
SUCH an AWESOME show! “Everglow” is the name of Pacific Crest Drum and Bugle Corps’ 2019 show (based in Diamond Bar, California). Absolutely Awesome show design and the corps kicked ass, too! One thing I love is seeing how much more innovation & creativity is going into each respective corps’ programs (and the level of execution is unparalleled for these corps). The demand & intricacy that goes into these shows well-surpasses back in my day. I also would like to mention just how much I enjoy seeing more & more well-shot footage of these corps. I look forward to seeing what other epic footage comes our way in the future (some truly awe-inspiring aerial shots of the corps).
This sport deserves more recognition & praise and I will gladly cheer on the ones who keep performing their hearts out (to the MAX) to keep it alive & well. God bless all Drum Corps to be truly prosperous.

Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps
youtube
One of the most-celebrated drum corps of all time: Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps from Madison, Wisconsin! One of my personal favorites - this corps is one of the drum corps that got me totally vibin’ off drum corps (Madison 1996 - Life-Changing). Here’s the 2019 corps CRUSHIN’ it (as always) last season with their show “Majestic.” Last season was the final year of the corps long-standing Male-Only Corps tradition. I’m totally looking forward to seeing the corps’ future programs - and totally vibin’ that they decided to be more inclusive so more folks have the opportunity to expand the corps’ future possibilities for success.🤙

Colts Drum & Bugle Corps
youtube
Totally Awesome Bari (2nd Baritone - That’s what I marched! Yeeaahhhh!) and Bass Trombone-Cam of the perspective of Alayna Verduyn.
Another classic corps that has been around for a long time is the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps (from Dubuque, Iowa). I actually enjoyed the Colts’ show in 2019 very, very much! A totally Awesome show called “When Hell Freezes Over” and brilliantly designed & incorporates themes involving Heaven & Hell. I still think it was a highly effective transformation throughout the show and I TOTALLY APPLAUD the ‘19 Colts for hittin’ it out of the park. I would LOVE to see the Colts have a Championship year, too. Another corps that I believe should have their turn at the title (hey it could happen).

Spartans Drum & Bugle Corps
youtube
TOTALLY Awesome rehearsal runthrough of the 2019 Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps (based out of Nashua, New Hampshire). Screamer-Cam (Fyi, “Screamers” is referring to Lead Trumpet players - particularly the folks that can hit those high notes loud & proud) shot from the perspective of Kevin Gallant. Spartans’ show was called “Experiment X.” Totally vibin’ this (Oh and the end cuts off - D’OH!)!😁🤙

2019 Drum Corps International Championships
One of the best seasons in DCI! Congratulations to EVERYONE who marched in drum corps this year - Thank you for keeping the activity alive & well. Blue Devils took their 19th title, and the captions went to various corps this year (which was refreshing to see). This has been one of the best Top 12 corps I have seen - definitely some of the most work ever put into the activity. I still cannot believe that The Bluecoats DID NOT WIN 1st place! It was the year of The Bluecoats in my own humble opinion - don’t get me wrong I love what BD has always brought, but man.... The Bluecoats!....It was their season. BD is like the Yankees - they’ve always got some of the best players, and they deliver every single year (which is not easy), but I don’t think BD was the underdog - Bluecoats were, and I still think they were the real champions, but again, that’s just one opinion - take it or leave it. Either way it does not take away from all of the awe-inspiring work each member has put in this year.
One of my favorite years in drum corps - every corps was AWESOME. Looking forward to 2020!

The Bluecoats 2019 Brassline
The Bluecoats are absolutely BRILLIANT this year with their Beatles-themed show. I think they have a real shot to take the Championships this year (it would be their second title ever if they do).
Their show design is breath-taking - Absolutely awesome and rare to find a show that can bring such a level of artistry onto a field (where it doesn’t feel like a drum corps show as much as a work of art). Very happy for The Bluecoats this year! Truly inspirational work.

2019 Boston Crusaders
Boston Crusaders have been a really, really strong corps this year with their show, “Goliath” (giving a fresh take on the old fable of David vs Goliath). Amazing corps all around this year - the brassline & drumline have been truly inspirational (and that colorguard is earning every ounce of praise & accolades). Such a cool show.

Santa Clara Vanguard’s 2019 Drumline
Such an AWESOME corps & show this year from SCV (yet again). No one can touch this drumline - SO EXCELLENT! Rennick’s crew has kept bringin’ it year after year (NICE). My pick for Best Percussion this year (which should be applauded due to how intensely incredible these drumlines have been this year). SCV is not to be messed with. Their show (as well as BD, Bluecoats, and Crown) could EASILY be a Championship show any given year. That brassline is absolutely bonkers this year too. SCV keeps pushin’ it (GO SCV!)
I wish ALL of the Best Luck & Happiness for every single person marching at Drum Corps International World Championships this year (ALL corps)! This is one of the best years in DCI and it makes me very happy to know the activity is still going strong after all these years (very proud to be a former drum corps member back in the day). Amazing work from everyone.

2019 Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps’ Full Show:
“Beneath The Surface”
SUCH an AWESOME show! One of my favorite all-time Crown shows, and one of the best from 2019 (without a doubt). SO looking forward to 2020. This show has so much drum corps credibility - absolutely brilliant and awe-inspiring corps & show.

Circle of Sound (with Crown)
Carolina Crown’s jaw-dropping brassline this year (earlier in the season). This is an awesome view from ‘outside of the circle’ with one of the world’s best brass sections in marching music. Probably the only corps this year to give me chills & tears (due to their otherworldly level of musicianship). GO, CROWN!

The Academy Drum & Bugle Corps
youtube
The last couple of years I have noticed a very excellent surge of innovative conceptual designs coming from Tempe, Arizona’s own: The Academy Drum and Bugle Corps! This corps is a bit on the younger side compared to other corps - yet they have shown QUALITY each time I’ve checked out their programs. Absolutely a corps to watch out for - I can easily see this corps earning a title in the future. Totally vibin’ their show last year, “The Bridge Between.” Absolutely Awesome!

Troopers Drum & Bugle Corps
youtube
Based out of Casper, Wyoming is one of the founding drum corps of Drum Corps International - The Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps. Definitely a classic corps and a staple in DCI - Troopers have been known to be a dominant force in drum corps in their time. This Bari-Cam is from the perspective of Luis Varona doing a rehearsal run of their 2019 show “Beyond Boundaries.” I have much respect for Troopers and always wanted to see them have a Championship show. Totally vibin’ the thought.

Music City Drum & Bugle Corps
youtube
Hailing from Nashville, Tennessee is Music City Drum and Bugle Corps! Totally vibin’ their 2019 program entitled, “Of Mice and Music” - a very creative show centered around a unique “city mouse & country mouse” type of concept. I thought the characterization of the corps was outstanding with the whole mouse concept - very, very Fun & Creative!
Givin’ some love to the Tuba-players in the world with the Tuba-Cam (from the perspective of Tanner Swoyer). I respect anyone who can crush it marching Tuba (Contra style - Sousaphones not so much hahahha). KEEP CRUSHIN’ IT, Music City!
