Away with New Years resolutions

I don’t know about you guys but I am more than ready to kick the New Year’s Eve resolution thing to the curb. It’s a ridiculous “tradition” that next to no one finds any benefit. Just another reason for you to find yourself at the end of the next year and realise that you’ve barely even scratched the surface of what you were planning on doing. Who needs that kind of demotivation when you are about to head into the next year of your life? I’d rather spend that time reflecting on everything that has happened in the last year. 2017 was a bitch but then again so have the last few years before it. But hey! Still alive suckers!! And this upcoming year will probably still be a tough one. But you know, for once in my life I think I’m ok with that. Enough of saying that this year is gonna be MY year. Each year is already your year, it’s only your perception of it that changes. Granted it may have been the worst year of your life but hey it’s still yours. No year is ever going to be perfect no matter how much we try to delude ourselves. You have to work with what you’ve got and that’s really all that matters. So whether you are looking towards this new year with excitement or apprehension, this life is yours and yours only to live. Don’t dread the past learn from it. Don’t fear the future embrace it. Not as easy as it sounds I know I’m trying to convince myself of this first and foremost.

It’s easy to sit behind a screen and write motivational posts and quotes while not meaning or believing a single word. You write it down with the intention of uplifting others but really it’s yourself you are trying to convince. The screen may serve as a great temporary mask but we all have to face the music sooner or later. This year I hope to live a little more, yes the cheesy line since we’re always living technically speaking. But what I mean is I hope to live out my thoughts, hopes and dreams. To spend less time cooped up in my own head dreaming of what could be. To learn to be more spontaneous and spend less time saying I wish I could do that or would be fun if that could happen. In the past year I’ve been trying hard to finally do things I’d been meaning to do for a long time. Like this page for example. I also got myself a guitar and the circular knitting needles I’d been wanting for a while. Silly things maybe but that brought me a sense of accomplishment small as it may be. It’s by staring small that you gain the confidence to reach for bigger things. Baby steps, skipping stones, just one foot in front of the other. No need to compare yourself with how far or how fast others are going because your pace is your own and this race is your own.

So my New Year’s resolutions? Thanks for asking but real life needs me and it also needs you.

Holidays have arrived and it’s kinda getting cold...

Sometimes I feel like the holidays are just another day living in California because it’s so warm, coming from New York I'm used to leaves falling and snow storms approaching. Today, I was speaking with a friend and couldn’t remember if Christmas was on the 24th or the 25th. What the holidays mean to me now, is pushing sales, and running around trying to get things done. And my family, well only a few members, are coming to town to throw into the mix. I feel like this month I made some progress as far as trying to manage my time better in regards to personal care and my education. It’s not perfect yet, but I am proud of the direction it’s going in. 

My class for this month focused on consumers and their buying behavior. As I mentioned before I love demographics and figuring out why people do the things they do so this was right up my alley. I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of consumers for my case study brand the Reformation because I am there target customer. However, for my actual job, I am not the target customer, my client is. We have grown very close over the past few months which has helped me observe and figure out how she thinks and buys and etc. Applying the tools and strategies from class helped me figure out the types of customers and how I have to remember to cater to them. It made me look deeper into her behavior as well as the customers when interacting with shopping and social events. It’s given me great insight and has helped me keep building the brand identity and structure. 

It has been a very enjoyable and productive class this month, I feel like I connected to the topic and was able to deliver good work even though the distractions of life and family have been working against me. I think after the holidays I will be closer to my Mastery goals as well as a little happier life.

Today is the last day of #2017 😩😩, but that means new beginnings in #2018 these were my highlights❤️ 1) My big bro @iamkjaymusic got to perform at Winter Fest ❄️❄️ and @cascadeskate with my fam @fcs_tyji @jayyyperkins @kennedilindsey @shashockley @iamtherealminicoops (by the way happy birthday 🎂🎉🎈🎁🎊) @jenemarie_ @_erinakins_ 2)I met my God dad @brookepayne1 and got to dance 💃🏾 on stage with @officialbellbivdevoe in front of thousands of people ❤️❤️❤️ 3) I met @iammissmulatto at the @behindthemovement intensive created by @jgreenproduction 💚 4) I got to meet YouTube sensation @therealbambinokitten_ and @rollplanes__ which was awesome 👏🏾 5) I had the opportunity to work with @zina137 and @mystudiokid to help me book my blessing with the headshots she took 6)I got to work with my #BARBIEGANG fam @nienie1love @jennel.saniah @jenemarie_ and @lanayacee ❤️❤️ 7) I went to New York and was on a tour of Harlem, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, and Lower Manhattan, New York on a boat 🚣🏾 8)Another great 👍🏾 BBD highlight was getting to see @dancin_desi and @margodanee perform 9)Finally, @lanayacee and I are at #TRAPHOUSEATL being lifesize Barbie dolls These are my 2017 highlights what’s yours? 💕✨ #2018imcomingforyou #2018 #byebye2017🔜2018u
