Photos I took of Nine Inch Nails' Tension 2013 tour, which was running 10 years ago this month. I also served as art director for the tour’s extensive visual design, working with lighting director Roy Bennett and production company Moment Factory (our team from the 2008 Lights in the Sky tour). Tension was the third full original stage production we designed/executed in 2013 (following the How to Destroy Angels live show and the NIN 2013 festival production), and its unique challenges damn year killed us (watch the Vevo behind-the-scenes feature for some insights into the creation of Tension), but we pulled off quite a spectacle both visually and musically.

Have you ever watched other big robot shows or space operas? like Evangelion, LoTGH, Patlabor, Gurren Lagann?

I have, though none of those you listed (Evangelion is the only one I've actively avoided, since I know enough about it to know I need to be in the right frame of mind to engage with it; the others I've just not gotten around to). I don't know if all of the others I've watched count as 'big', but I'll get you a quick breakdown of what I can recall seeing.

For Japanese space-opera in general, I've watched bits and pieces of Leiji Matsumoto's work and have a special fondness for the 2013 CGI Harlock adaption, weirdly enough. For whatever reason -- certainly a lot of the feelings that ended up latching on to Iron-Blooded Orphans were involved -- I just really vibed with what it was doing. Indeed, I think I generally vibe with a lot of Matsumoto's aesthetic approach despite not necessarily liking what he's saying with it. I've also seen the live-action Space Battleship Yamato movie , which I didn't like in the slightest.

I don't think Cowboy Bebop quite counts as space opera, but I've of course seen that too (it was required viewing for my generation) and count it among the best animes ever, just on artistic merit alone. I've also seen Crusher Joe, which certainly isn't that good but was somewhat fun nonetheless.

For mecha specifically, I've never gotten into Macross despite knowing the overall basics. I've only properly seen Macross Plus, but it didn't leave much of an impression. It's kind of odd, actually, since I'd have to say I prefer the artistic direction of Macross' mecha to most of Gundam (love a good transforming jet fighter). Still, story will out, I suppose.

For what I have seen, there's Code:Geass, obviously, in all its utter-batshit glory. Terrible, awful show. I had a whale of a time.

Eureka Seven basically does everything Gundam has ever tried to do over most of its run, better, with much more depth and clarity. Like, seriously, all the stuff the first three Gundam shows are flailing around trying to Say Something About, Eureka Seven nails in the most heartbreaking ways imaginable. It's ridiculously well done for what it is, partly because it actually commits to its main character being an ordinary teenage boy in ways that most things don't (which it also has in common with at least Gundam 79 and Zeta Gundam, only, again, done better).

I more or less enjoyed Argento Soma. It has some very interesting art design and direction, and the general idea is compelling. But it's also rather less than the sum of its parts, overall, and is perhaps tamer than it could have been.

I watched the first season of Eighty-Six and a few of the second season episodes before ditching it like a hot rock when the subs pulled out actual Nazi rhetoric. It had already ditched the moral horror of the first season for something more bland, anyway.

Then there's Fafner in the Azure which is flat-out the best mecha show I've ever seen. I know I rave about Iron-Blooded Orphans and have tons to say about it, but Fafner operates on a completely different level. I have *nothing* to say about Fafner which is not 'for the love of everything, go watch Fafner'. It is an incredible piece of work, that absolutely demands a chronological, beginning-to-end watch, because it is one of the few things I've come across that *needs* to be so long, to say everything it is saying, as well and deftly as it is saying it. It's gruelling, heart-shattering, nail-biting and utterly uplifting in how it centres community and sacrifice for the sake of others. I'm not sure I've seen anything with such a clear idea of what 'we are fighting to defend humanity' means, positive and negative. It will rip your heart out of your chest and you'll thank it for the pleasure.

Also, it does a similar 'two characters are in love with the hero and it's mostly chill' thing to IBO, edging very close to being polyamory too, expect they're all total dysfunctional messes and also occasionally dead so it doesn't work out so well. Plus two of the three are guys, meaning the 'in love' thing is more heavy implication than overt statement but, boy are they implying heavily.

Oh, and I have also see Brave Bang Bravern! It is deeply silly but also contains some wildly out-of-place torture apologia that I still can't quite wrap my head around in terms of what the writers were thinking. Possibly they just wanted to get in some gratuitous bondage? Which, I mean, fair, but still. Odd show (even on top of the deliberateness to its camp).

Happy Birthday Scottish actor Richard Madden born June 18th 1986 in Elderslie.

Richard was raised by his mother, Pat, a classroom assistant and his father, Richard, who worked for the fire service. He also has two sisters, Cara and Lauren.

His parents were “hippies”, he says, and their house was pretty open, with friends always piling in for big vegetarian meals. Madden spent a lot of time outside, in the woods behind their house. He has several injuries: he shows me where he shot his dad’s old air pistol and blew off part of his finger, then managed to wreck the same finger when he nailed a wooden plank to his skateboard, then crashed it, so apart from the Hippie parents it was much like most of our own days as bairns.

Despite growing up wanting to be an actor, Richard was very shy during his childhood. To overcome this, at age 11, he joined Paisley Arts Centre’s youth theatre program. In 1999 he was given the lead role as Sebastian Simpkins in BBC1’s children’s TV comedy series Barmy Aunt Boomerang, that’s him aged 12 in the first pic with co-star Toyah Wilcox.. By 2000, he’d made his feature film debut in the Iain Banks adaptation, Complicity.

After high school he was accepted to the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow, Scotland and in 2007, he graduated.

Less than two years later, Richard had a recurring role as Dean McKenzie on the 2009 BBC series Hope Springs. Soon after, he landed the role of Ripley in the 2010 movie Chatroom, a film about a group of teenagers who encourage each other’s bad behaviours after meeting online. In the same year, Richard played punk band Theatre of Hate singer Kirk Brandon in Worried About the Boy, a TV film about the life of British singer-songwriter Boy George.

In 2011 Richard landed his breakthrough role as Robb Stark in the HBO fantasy-drama series Game of Thrones. Also in 2011, he played gay paramedic Ashley Greenwick on the short-lived British comedy-drama Sirens. During hiatus from filming Game of Thrones in 2013, Richard was cast to star as Prince Charming in the 2015 Disney film Cinderella.

Richard won his first Screen Actors Guild award in 2014 for the Discovery Channel mini-series, Klondike. He played Bill Haskell, one of two adventurers who travel to Yukon, Canada during the Klondike Gold Rush in the 1890s. He further enhanced his reputation as a good actor when he appeared in the BBC drama Bodyguard in 2018, the following year he played Lieutenant Joseph Blake in the film 2017 and was Elton John’s manager/lover in the biop of the star Rocketman.

In January 2019 Madden won a prestigious Golden Globe for his role as war veteran David Budd in the BBC show Bodyguard. He also appeared in the 2019 war movie 1917.

We last saw Richard in the movie, Eternals, which was okay, but nothing great, he is one of several actors being touted as the next James Bond,

Last year Richard starred in the Amazon Prime series Citadel, I've watcheit and was not really impressed with it,I think he does pull of the American accent well, but I noticed there have been people saying he doesnt, Madden revealed he spoke in the accent for two years straight to prepare for the series. The show has been earmarked for a second series. Richard is set to appear in the feature film Killer Heat next, it is in post production.

In July 2019, Madden received an honorary doctorate from his alma mater, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. When asked about his personal life during a New York Times interview following speculation about his relationships and sexuality, Madden stated: “I just keep my personal life personal.”

Madden was recently named one of ‘Scotland’s Sexiest Men' following a new study that identifies the most attractive features for men, he has competition though, also in the running are Bathgate’s David Tennant and Glasgow’s James McAvoy,

Richard, quizzed on what he would like to do next he sad “I’d like to do something in comedy. It’s nice to not… I mean we go to work every day and we’re like, ‘You’re gonna die today,’” he said, adding that he wanted to “do something fun for a minute.”

lim dahlia was born on the 8th of december in the year 2001, to lim jiyoung and beom sebin. her parents were fairly rich due to being being real estate developers. their lifelong dream had been to travel the world, and they had another addition to their team.

her toddler years were spent in s. korea, since her parents wanted her to make memories in the neighbourhood they had grown up in. dahlia's adventorous nature had resulted in a broken arm from climbing a tall tree in the park near their house.

they shortly moved to japan due to her father getting an offer to develop an estate in a suburb. dahlia had been only four when they had situated themselves in the country for this project. she had made friends with some children from her preschool.

a year or two had passed before they packed up everything and moved once again. the trio made a nest for themselves in the european country of the netherlands. dahlia discovered multiple dutch artist that guided her in learning the language, as well as famous singers from english speaking countries.

the rest of her child years were spent in the netherlands. her dutch had become better the more she spoke it, and her goals became clear to her one day when she saw a bagpipe player in the city. her interest in the musical instrument sky rocketed once her family went to scotland for her school holiday.

for dahlia's 11th birthday. her parents surprised her with news of them moving again. she had been feeling down after the news, since all her current friends were right there in europe. to calm her troubles, jiyoung and sebin took her to her grandmothers farm back in korea. dahlia was exploring the vast area, when she had run into a herd of cattle. the poor girl had been chased away by one of the bulls in the herd, a new fear developing from that incident.

the lim family settled in boulder, colorado. dahlia had made her parents promise that they weren't going to move for a fourth time. her wish had been fullfilled?? once they confirmed that this was the last time they planned to move?.

the teen girl expanded on her interest in music by joining her schools music club. there she had learnt more instruments. in the year 2013, dahlia downloaded the app 'vine', where she started making relatable videos about her life.

she had gained popularity on the app a few months after downloading it. one of her videos had been looped about 5 million times and shared around the same amount of loops it had.

once the app had been shut down in 2017, dahlia tried to get into musical.ly, but didn't like it as much as she liked vine. in the latter year of 2017, dahlia went radio silent on her fans from vine and musical.ly, none of them knowing why.

no news of dahlia were heard, people hadn't even seen her in public after the sudden disappearance on her social media. even her instagram account had no updates, the number of posts staying the same, only the follower numbers increasing by the day.

in 2022, an anonymous video of a girl dancing to havana by camila cabello had been posted on every social media. the girl had a mask over most of her face, concealing her identity from the public.

people made theories on who the mysterious girl could be, but none of the claims were disclosed.

once girl from nowhere had revealed her identity on july 2024, people had mixed reactions. most fans were extatic that dahlia had come back to the music industry after being gone for so long. others were confused as to why she had showed her face now, and not earlier.

the girl went live on her instagram to address any questions. her reason for not showing her identity to the public at first was due to her concept of space and mystery. she explained that as much as people know about space, it is still a mysterious place we don't really know a lot about.

another reason was because she wanted people to focus on her voice and dance skills, ignoring whether she was beautiful or not.
