Cap Iron Man Rec Week 2024 (Wed)
Early in Canon Wednesday - July 24th for @cap-ironman Rec Week
Fics set early in canon as the boys are getting to know each other :D
Remember to show some love for your hard-working creators!
To Be With You (Is Easy) by Carsonian @carsonian (MCU)
Tony doesn't know what prompted him to visit the recently defrosted Captain America, and he certainly hadn't given much thought to the little confessionals he's given the comatose Capsicle. But when Steve Rogers wakes up and seeks him out, he finds there's an attraction between them that can't be denied.
No Return, No Return by Carsonian @carsonian (MCU)
In many ways, Tony Stark has spent his whole life waiting to meet something real enough to test himself against. He hadn't planned on it being Steve Rogers.
Wish You Were Here by One and Five Nines (MCU)
Steve starts sending Tony postcards.
tear these old walls down by susiecarter @susiecarter (MCU)
Steve didn't like Tony Stark. Stark probably didn't like Steve, either. They'd gotten off on the wrong foot, and that was putting it mildly. And having to pretend to be a civilian Stark was dating, as cover for trying to save Stark's life while Iron Man was busy with a SHIELD mission, obviously wasn't going to help.
when you're gone by talktothesky @thatbuddie (MCU)
Steve's had to get used to many things in the 21st century but falling in love with Tony Stark might be the weirdest one yet. Especially because the man's dead.
not a lot, just forever by Thahire @thahiree (MCU)
A few months after the Battle of New York, Tony invites Steve over to see the apartment he has built for him. Steve, of course, is totally normal about this and not panicking at all.
Handheld by talesofsuspense (MCU)
When Steve starts stopping for lunch at Shawarma Palace he isn't expecting Tony to show up and to keep showing up. And he definitely isn't expecting a guide to the 21st century.
posing up a storm by picturecat @snoozingcat (MCU, alt 2012)
“I have an idea. Can we just pretend the day ended with that really badass Superfriends pose we did?”
Machines and Marvels by rainbowninja167 (MCU, alt 2012)
Or: In an alternate timeline where the Avengers never formed, Steve and Tony need a crash course in team bonding. Stephen Strange just had to take that literally.
choke on me by imperialstark @persephonesfill (MCU, WIP)
After fending off an alien invasion, Tony Stark has one more obstacle to face; Steve Rogers. Steve believes that they have a connection which Tony is trying hard to ignore. After a moment of passion aboard the helicarrier, Tony can't seem to stay away from Steve as their lives grow ever more intertwined.
and two self-recs!
I'll Be (Good To You) by ishipallthings (MCU, soulmate AU)
Steve Rogers wakes up seventy years out of time to a new world and a soulmate. It’s an adjustment. What he doesn’t expect is Tony Stark, a brilliant futurist who is equal parts fascinating and frustrating, and has just as many demons as Steve. He also doesn’t expect to find a family with a ragtag team of superheroes, or to fall in love. Luckily, Steve is nothing if not adaptable.
An Armored Heart by ishipallthings (AA)
In which Red Skull goes after Steve Rogers, and Tony realizes just how much he has to lose.
Hope you guys enjoy the recs, and stay tuned! Please mind the tags before reading. Check out my tag for previous years’ rec lists :)

Cap-IM Rec Week - Time Travel Tuesday
Day 2 of @cap-ironman's rec week event! Today's list features stories where traveling through time turns out to be the cause of or solution to our heroes' problems.
Never Surrender, Never Give Up by Loran_Arameri, Serinah (@loraneldin, @serinah80) (MCU, Explicit, 85,896 words)
Summary: It’s 2029 and aliens have taken the Earth. Steve is dead, and everyone who’s left of the Avengers is fighting for the last few thousand humans. They don’t have much time, or rather the energy: the last of the arc reactors will fail in less than a month, and Tony can’t make another one. Their base will fall. The Earth’s best defender is out of options. *** Years they fought against the Chitauri, and they have lost. Steve is sure that Tony would agree: only traveling back in time could save them now. But Steve wasn't sure if he should, and now he's out of time so he takes one last, desperate gamble. When will he end up?
Circulaire by @gonetoarcadia (MCU, Mature, 38,412 words)
Summary: The world ends on a Wednesday. An anonymous invading force interested in nothing but destruction wipes out most of the world’s major urban centres within an hour. In the aftermath, with the few heroes left alive bitterly divided between moving forward or looking for a way back, Tony Stark and Steve Rogers set out to find out what happened, and make sure that it never does.
The rest are below the cut!
special dispensation by @jenthesweetie (MCU, Teen And Up Audiences, 673 words)
Summary: On the one hand, they’d all agreed that the quantum time machine was a dangerous technological advancement, only to be used under the most dire of circumstances. But on the other hand, it was Steve’s birthday.
Double Time by @sineala (616/Iron Man Noir, Explicit, 123,375 words)
Summary: Cassino, Italy, December 1943. Special Agent Tony Stark, former Marvels adventurer, is sent to investigate a Cosmic Cube found by the Invaders -- and it's the perfect opportunity for him to rekindle his secret romance with Steve Rogers. But when Hydra attempts to steal the Cube, an inadvertent wish for help leads to the appearance of a Tony from the future of another world: Director Stark of SHIELD. This Tony is a man with a lot on his mind. He refuses to tell them anything about the future, but he seems to know much more than he should about Captain America. And something's happened that's clearly killing him inside, but he's not talking. When Director Stark's failed attempt to return home leads to the unexpected appearance of another visitor from his universe, all the lies come undone. Now there are two wars to fight, and the second one could ruin all of them.
Relativistic Heat Conduction by @blossomsinthemist (616, Explicit, 69,298 words)
Summary: Age of Ultron-based, but not entirely canon compliant. Written for the 2013 Cap-Iron Man Reverse Big Bang. Ultron has attacked, obliterating most of the world's superheroes and resistance in a matter of hours. The remaining heroes band together and share what strength they have to get through it, to survive, and defeat Ultron once and for all. Steve Rogers grieves in the wake of the disaster and the heroes' defeat, and no one knows if he will be able to provide the leadership they need--but Tony Stark isn't about to let him slip away that easily. Also available as a podfic read by Pywren (@phyrrhicvictory)
More Than Gravity by @jenthesweetie (MCU, Teen And Up Audiences, 20,918 words)
Summary: “Aw, time travel, no.” On Christmas Eve, Tony came unstuck in time.
The God of Solid Life Advice by kehinki (MCU, Teen And Up Audiences, 1,583 words)
Summary: It's 2012. Steve is just informed by Loki that Bucky's alive. Loki also tells him some other things.
Man Out of Time by @samptra (MCU, Explicit, 39,017 words)
Summary: Closing dark eyes he tried to center his wildly gyrating thoughts. “This isn’t happening this isn’t real…” he wacked his head a few more times, “I did not go through a weird tear in the air again. There was no crazy terreract driven machine…and I defiantly did not go back in time.” This was all some sort of dream he was having a nightmare one that he’d awake from in his bed, in Avengers Tower, in the year 2013.
To Make Much of Time by @sineala (616, Teen And Up Audiences, 16,114 words)
Summary: When Iron Man rejects Steve's romantic advances, Steve is disappointed, but of course he understands -- Iron Man's secret identity is important. But when a portal opens and Tony Stark crashes into their midst from twelve years in the future, Steve starts to suspect that there are more secrets here than he can even begin to comprehend, and neither Iron Man nor Tony are providing any answers. Also available as a podfic read by @paraka
The Twice-Told Tale by @arysteia (MCU, Explicit, 15,789 words)
Summary: For someone he'd hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony's pretty sure it's his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howard's expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he's certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve's. Steve's pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that's not hypocritical at all.

Hello, I came across your Kencyrath rec post and I am tentatively intruiged. That said I wanted to ask about a trigger before I dive in. Suicide is pretty strong trigger for me. I can handle it if it's mentioned, but detailed descriptions of the act or a lot of time spent in a suicidal character's head/thoughts dealing with suicidal ideation would not be. Is this an issue in the Chronicles of Kencyrath, and if it is, do you have a different recommendation?
Okay SO.
The Kencyrath exist in a honor/shame society, in which going against the code of honor (lying, breaking your word, etc) is considered a sin that can only be forgiven through an honorable death. Sometimes this takes the form of going into battle without the intention to come back, generally without armor, but it also takes the form of ritualized suicide with a specific kind of knife. I would call it a very specific kind of suicidal ideation, in which it doesn’t come so much from a depressive headspace as it does from a kind of rigidly religious one. There isn’t a ton of time spent in the heads of characters actively pursuing ritual suicide, nor what I would call traditional depressive suicidality, but it IS a very present element of the society, including people freely making choices with the understanding that they will be expected to take their own life afterward, or people being forced to take their own life as an alternative to being dishonored. Think samurai rules or Imperial Chinese rules and you’ll be in the right ballpark. Ultimately I can’t know the inside of your brain, but if onscreen suicide discussion or aftermath is a concern, I might table this series until you feel more ready for it.
In terms of alternative recommendations, buckle up, I have a list based on what part of the Kencyrath pitch you were into. These recommendations are made with the assumption that all the OTHER content warnings for the Kencyrath are not a problem, but I’ll note any really major ones and include a broad rating according to AO3 rules. Anything with an asterisk by it heavily features the big Chivalric Devotion vibes of the main Kencyrath dynamics. I read a lot of that.
Sprawling politics:
The Unbroken* (drafted soldier impresses daughter of the empress, they try to stop a war, full of double-crossing schemes and gallant ladies, cw colonialism, M for violence, sex, and extremely real colonialism)
The Captive Prince* (dethroned prince is sold into slavery under his mortal enemy, definitional enemies-to-lovers content, cw sexual assault, E for a very sexually relaxed culture in a bad way)
A Taste of Gold and Iron* (unambitious prince gets tangled up in a currency fraud scheme and gets a shiny new bodyguard, E for a very sexually relaxed culture in a good way)
October Daye series (starts out classic urban fantasy, rapidly becomes Blood Magic and Politics The Series, for those committed to a long series, T for violence)
Pulp fantasy adventure vibes:
Hero and the Crown/The Blue Sword* (classic sword and sorcery fantasy, for DnD lovers and people who read Horse Girl Books as kids, General Audiences)
Silver Under Nightfall* (vampire couple teams up with vampire hunter to cure a magical plague, the polyamorous murder romance you need in your life, cw coercive assault and body horror, E for gore and numerous threesomes)
Heaven Official’s Blessing***** (translated Chinese novel, very old fallen god returns to Heaven and Does His Best, for those committed to a LONG book, currently on volume 8, T for violence)
Witch King (body hopping demon tries to solve his own murder with his found family in tow, perfect standalone book, T for violence)
Spicy magic systems:
The City We Became/The World We Made (sentient cities and extra dimensional invaders, for everyone who read a lot of Avengers In NYC fic back in 2012, cw racism and survival sex work, M for sex)
Gideon the Ninth/The Locked Tomb series***** (everyone knows about this series, it’s the one with the lesbian space necromancers, cw for just the craziest flavors of abuse, M for violence and cannibalism I guess, also fits the below category)
The Gilded Ones* (what if all the misogynists who said women were demons were absolutely correct, and it was fucking rad, cw for SO much sexism and also religious indoctrination, T for violence)
A Soul to Keep* et al (okay oKAY LOOK THIS IS MONSTERFUCKER CONTENT BUT I RECOMMEND IT, local cursed woman gets forced to marry a demon, they argue a lot and the sex scenes are REAL bizarre, cw kidnapping and the second book deals with a character coming out of a severe depression, HARD E for monsterfucking, obviously)
Interpersonal relationships that are just SO fucked up:
A Dowry of Blood (a letter from Dracula’s first wife to the man himself, cw domestic abuse, M for adult themes and sex)
Remnants of Filth/Yuwu* (translated Chinese novel, loyal general becomes the jailer for his traitorous ex-lover, cw slavery and discussion of sexual assault, E for sex)
The Salt Grows Heavy (homicidal Little Mermaid and plague doctor wander through an apocalypse together, actually read everything Cassandra Khaw has ever touched, the absolute pinnacle of horror, cw all her stuff for really creative violence and body horror, M for violence and gore)
Anyway if you have any other book recommendation questions and/or you read any of these and enjoy them, hit me up, recommending books to people is genuinely one of my great joys in life.
#Kencyrath#book rec#chronicles of the Kencyrath#hooooo boy howdy let’s get into these tags huh#the unbroken#the captive prince#a taste of gold and iron#October daye#the blue sword#silver under nightfall#heaven official’s blessing#tgcf#witch king#the city we became#the locked tomb#Gideon the ninth#the gilded ones#a soul to keep#a dowry of blood#remnants of filth#Yuwu#the salt grows heavy#cassandra khaw#listen i fucking L O V E recommending books#i AM the person who will ask what you like about your favorite books and recommend five things off the top of my head#i flatter myself I’m quite good at it#oh the other cassandra khaw book i recommend is hammers on bone#which is about an elder god working a day job as a private investigator#and has the vibe of a magnus archives Meat Episode(TM)#but that one doesn’t really fit the kencyrath tone except a couple niche scenes in the master’s house and jame’s nightmares

hey i'm so sorry i know you've linked to it probably a million times but i can't find it: can i have the link to your hawkeye reading list pleaseee and thank you 🥳
Hi Hi!! Please never apologize for asking I have the most unorganized blog in all hawkeye accounts LMFAOOO so not being able to find recs in here is understandable
Im assuming you mean Clint, but just in case not I will add Kate's in at the end!
So First of course is this icon's first appearance in
Tales of Suspense #57 (1964) - (he also shows up a few more times in tales of suspense but obviously this is the most important one!)
The Avengers #16 (1965) is when he joins and becomes our favorite little Avenging Archer (forewarning he is a little shit here. His favroite pass time in the beginning is driving Steve up a wall. I personally find this dynamic very funny but some dont)
He is with the Avengers for a really long time. Like more than 150+ comics(he isn't Hawkeye the whole time though as he does have a little bit I believe that starts in Avengers #63-#98 where he is Goliath. He comes back to us as Hawkeye in Avenger #99)
Hawkeye (1983) is his first solo ever! It's a mini series but its one of my personal favroites!
West Coast Avengers (1984)- this is where we get to see him take lead in a brand new team in California!
The West Coast Avengers (1985)- this is just a contitnuation of the previous mentioned!
Solo Avengers (1987)- We find out more tea about Clint's life prior to avenging here
He stays with the West Coast Avengers for a hot minute before we get his second solo
Hawkeye (1994) he's reaaaaal tough guy big feelings in this one
then he shows up in Avengers again in 1995 (yeah I know but hey he is the avenging archer so that's where youre gonna find him the most) He even gets a new lil fit and everything (he looks like he belongs in a boyband and I love it)
Thunderbolts (1998) is where Clint shows up ( in 2001 I believe) and takes over the team! He essentially helps try to guide them into being a good hero team and if I remember correctly I think its either #74-#75 where he leaves the Thunderbolts (I can't remember exactly I'm sorry)
Hawkeye (2003)- a third solo!!! look at our little guy go!!!
Then he... well he dies LMFAOOO in Avengers (2004) and the Clint Barton you knew and love is about to change forever
The New Avengers #26 (2006) if i remember correctly and it's.. well it's a sad one and he isn't the lovely Hawkeye when he comes back either. This is where Clint becomes Ronin, which is a rather dark time for Clint.
Secret Invasion (2008) This is also sad im sorry LMFAOOO Clint's morals are tested often as Ronin
The New Avengers (2009) Again he is ronin here so if youre looking for Clint just as Hawkeye he isn't here but don't worry he is back as Hawkeye soon enough
New Avengers: The Reunion (2009) whooooo's he getting a reunon with ;)
Hawkeye & Mockingbird (2010) guess what, that's who he got a reunion with I LOVE THIS COMIC
Widowmaker (2010) is basically a continue on of ^ with Nat involved
Avengers: Solo (2011) CLINT!!!! AS!!! HAWKEYE!!! Doin Hawkeye shit
Hawkeye: Blindspot (2011) do you like family angst? Good. Here. Have the family angst.
There is an event going on around this time called Fear Itself that he is involved in and also he is in Secret Avengers (2012) starting #21 or #22 where he becomes the leader.
Hawkeye (2012) We all know and love this bad boy. You could fit so many tears into it.
Secret Avengers (2013) again??? yes again.
Secret Avengers (2014) haha yeah again
Hawkeye Vs Deadpool (2014) it's fun! it's cute! Wade makes me laugh and he has a soft spot for the Hawkeyes
All-New Hawkeye (2015) there is some retconning done here
I don't wanna talk about Civil War II (2016) it makes me really sad LMFAOOO but yes he is in it and it should be read because well.. he makes a BIGGGGGG choice here that I feel has def echoed in his characterization since and has caused lots of misleading beliefs about Clint
Occupy Avengers (2016) Woooooooh I like this one it's fun
Secret Empire (2017) He is in it if I remember correctly but I grouch about this whole concept because I thought it was stupid. It gives the same energy as "What if Superman was evil" and I'm sure as a DC fan you know how annoying that concept is.
Generations: Hawkeye(2017) This is soooo cute I love this one. Kate meets a younger Clint in it and they run around together
Tales of Suspense #101 (2018) This will never not make me laugh. Him and Bucky working together is always funny
He is also involved in Kate's Hawkeye run during this time but I've got that on her list
West Coast Avengers (2018) I liked this. I love when Kate and Clint work together and I liked seeing the nods to the original WCA
Hawkeye: Freefall (2020) crying puking throwing up it's so good and fun until it's not fun anymore
Black Widow (2020) Not my favroite run for Nat... feels like the tone is off but he is in it
Thunderbolts (2022) I liked this...would have been super cool if Marvel had kept it as a continuing run because I feel like it didn't get to finish it's story. I'm still sour about it.
NOW obviously this is not everything ever he has ever been in and I'm certainly not perfect enough to have read every. single. appearance. So please forgive me if I missed something important cause sometimes my brain is not so greeat with memory.
x Kate Reading List!

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 💖
Hope you're doing well this Sunday, Bri! 💞
Hi Kay! I had a pretty good weekend, got lots of rest. I hope you had a great weekend too and kicking off the week on a good note! 💞
Thanks for sending this in, it made me realize I'd passed 50 fics on AO3 a while back, which made picking favorites a little difficult hahaha. But I did my best!
this don't feel anything like sinking This one is a Shrunkyclunks AU with a failing serum. I'd always wanted to write something like this and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
sun peeking through the sky I wrote this one a while back but I'm still pretty proud of it. It's a Post-IW Canon Divergence sort of fix-it. I'm usually not into fix-its so it pains me to even call it that but technically it qualifies I think.
come on home Wakanda Stucky after everyone comes back from the Blip. It's my take on soft Wakanda days with goats and healing and domesticity.
What Once Was Mine (A New and Improved Guide to Project Rebirth by Steven G. Rogers) An Avengers (2012) Canon Divergent self-indulgent fic featuring fantastic art by @kocuria. It's the kind of small, intimate take that I'm always fond of ngl.
A Leap Begins A Modern AU with age difference and incredible art by @espressosaur. Can't believe this is the only fic of this kind on the list cause it feels like most of my works!
I tried picking a variety and a mix of new & old. Super grateful to anyone who's read any of my works <333
(Also I'm sure everyone's done this but if you haven't I'd love to see your self-rec lists!)
#thanks for sending this in kay!!! and saying hi!!!#i must have missed your self rec list but i would loooove to see it?#stucky fic#docallmebri

hey! don't know if you're still active, but I saw that you were a marvel and psych fan. :) I was just wondering if you had any fic recommendations on ao3 or even Wattpad, because I can n e v e r have enough. 😭
also, as a attempting fic writer myself, I know how hard it is to stay motivated. just wanted to let you know that if you publish something, I'd be more than happy to be your number one fan. :))
hello! i’m still around but more active on my main and art acc lol
i mostly read on ao3, and it does depend on what you like to read, i mostly read loki centric fics for marvel and i prefer shassie fics for psych! though i mostly just pick a tag and filter the hell of it and just read everything, i’m not one to keep track of or make rec lists 😩
however, some i’m reading right now is Loki Misses the Asgardian Prison System by kittyhazelnut (it gives 2012 avengers fic vibes) and Ásgarðrian Galdr by Valerie_Vancollie (great world building and long)
some i reread are Cruel Vengeance by an arpan account, the 20th Century Mutants series by yellowledbetter (love me some quicksilver and dadneto), and Damaged Defenders by Sherza (sadly unfinished but so good)
for psych, i like The Impossible Mind series by Beaconbaconbison (real psychic shawn), and the Shawn’s Body series by swattiepenguin
i promise i have a few thousand words written for my own psych au i just want to finish it all before i start posting 😭 and honestly, my dms are always open if anyone wants to talk about anything lol

FIC REC WEEK 42 – ANIMAL FIC
SERIES: The Avengers Menagerie by tarialdarion
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: M Words: 4,790 Tags: Pets Galore, Fluff and Humor, Team as Family
Reasons why I love it: The idea of dozens of animals bouncing around Avengers Tower fills me with so much joy, I can't even tell you. All the choices for which animals each Avenger has are perfect, and I love each and every interaction between them. If you're looking for some light-hearted fluff, consider this an absolute must-read.
This series consists of:
The Avengers Menagerie
Pairing: Gen Rating: G Words: 1,766 Tags: Domestic Fluff, Humor, Avengers Tower
Summary: “Until one has loved an animal a part of one’s soul remains unawakened.” – Anatole France
Reasons why I love it: Nothing makes me happier than the thought of Sam and Thor fighting over their rights to cuddle Bucky's bunnies. This fic portrays all the chaos and domestic bliss that I love about the 2012 Avengers era, and I enjoyed every second of it. It's the perfect start to a wonderful series.
Hidden Surprises
Pairing: Steve/Tony Rating: M Words: 1,471 Tags: Established Relationship, Superfamily, Cockblocking
Summary: Yes, it's a lame name. Go with it. Sarah: YOU NEED TO WRITE SOMETHING WITH THE WORDS "CUTEST LITTLE COCK-BLOCK" Me: OKAY
Reasons why I love it: I don't know why I enjoy the idea of Steve being scared of tiny, little spiders so much, but I really, really do. This fic is adorable and hilarious at the same time, and I'm so happy about the addition of Peter to this verse. Definitely check this one out, it's wonderful!
Approved Snuggle List
Pairing: Steve/Tony, Sam/Bucky Rating: T Words: 1,553 Tags: Bucky's Bunny Brigade, Fluff, Bunny Names
Reasons why I love it: This fic made my heart melt into a puddle of goo before it punched me right in the funny bone. I love this verse so much, and this fic is probably my favorite of the bunch, it's so cute. I hope you check it out, because you're seriously missing out if you don't.

fic writer self-recs
I was tagged by the lovely and talented @titleleaf!
Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favourite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers.
I'm gonna try not to just reproduce the same list from the last time I did this (although I can't fucking find it, so who knows), and also shine the spotlight on some that I think don't get as much attention but that I'm still very proud of anyway!
(But also, the road goes ever on. It's always gonna be the road goes ever on.)
1. house rule #3 (MCU Thor, Avengers [2012])
“Darcy,” Jane says, firmly. “Breathe.” “I am totally breathing,” Darcy protests. “Look, after you offered me the job, she bought us a bottle of sparkling wine and thanked me really cryptically and I basically haven’t seen her since. And in that time, Selvig’s dropped off the map, and a supervillain calling himself Loki who could be her fraternal twin pops up and starts chewing German scenery in a helmet that looks exactly like the one in this book.” Darcy sits back in her chair, bouncing off the back. “Also, I told her about this professor who was a total pain in my ass, and like two weeks later he was on leave for ‘undisclosed reasons’ and he still hasn’t come back.” “This…could all be a coincidence,” Jane says, lamely. “Oh yeah. Same way that weird homeless guy you kept hitting with your car showing up inside that storm was all a coincidence,” Darcy says. “Oh, my god. I’ve been watching ANTM highlights with a supervillain.”
I love Darcy Lewis, I think the narrative voice in this one hits her sense of humour just right, and it makes me astoundingly nostalgic for the early 2010s.
2. definitely not bfu rpf (definitely not Buzzfeed Unsolved/Watcher Unsolved?)
“Even Scully took it seriously when the shadow government gave her cancer, man,” Bryan says, when he sees the glitchy footage. “There – okay, there are two issues with that line of logic,” Zane says. “First, cancer. That’s detectable by current medical science. It’s not exactly a matter of belief. Second, Dana Scully is a fictional character.” “So you won’t get an exorcism?” Bryan says, sounding defeated. “Bryan, my dear, I think you already know the answer to that one.”
Back when the Watcher guys were still attached to Buzzfeed, there was a really popular fandom trope that went around that Shane was secretly a demon. However, nobody seemed to have taken the next logical step - that if Shane was a demon, he wouldn't believe it.
(I don't write RPF, because I tried it and felt weird about it, but I just had to get this written, so I changed everybody's names to something that rhymed with the real-life people's names. Legally Distinct Buzzfeed Unresolved.)
3. Girls In White Dresses (Supernatural)
Mary’s the first to appear in the kitchen doorway, pistol raised, eyes flinty. But she pauses, just for a moment, when she sees Dean, and Jess’ stomach drops. Whoever - whatever - Dean really is, he at least hadn’t lied when he’d said he was Sam’s brother. He’s Mary’s son. And Mary’d just had to watch, helpless, while one of her sons died. Mary’s going to hesitate. But Jess can already tell that Dean won’t. By the way Dean's grinning, she can tell he knows it too.
I had to unfridge some of SPN's many, many freezer-burned women. Also it was so much fun to try to think up ways to hurt all of them emotionally as badly as the show likes to hurt its big strong men emotionally. (Lady Gaga voice) It's equality.
4. i hold with those who favour fire (Crimson Peak)
Perhaps she looks too long. Perhaps her eyes are playing tricks on her, perhaps it is only the lingering warmth of the body melting away the fallen snow, but it seems there are more autumn leaves gathered under Edith’s frozen form, more reds and golds spilling from beneath her nightdress and her hands and her golden head. The leaves flicker and dance, as though caught in a high October wind, though any such wind would be stymied by Allerdale’s protective walls. It isn’t until the hem of Edith’s gown begins to blacken that Lucille sees that what she had taken for autumn leaves are flames.
This one was written for a prompt meme where I asked for a character and a monster/mythical being, and wrote something short connecting the two. I should do that again, that was fun.
5. Boiling a Frog (Rick and Morty)
“It’s strange,” she says, tipping the contents of her cup carefully into the drain under the vending machine’s dispenser and crumpling the cardboard cup in one hand. “None of this feels really...real. Like, Grandpa Rick should be here complaining about how hospitals are breeding grounds for superbugs and how sitting in waiting rooms is pointless because unless you’re a doctor, there’s fuckall you can do to help anyway.” Morty suddenly looks uneasy, but Summer’s not sure if that’s because of what she said or because of the coffee. “I’m glad he’s not,” he says, and then looks horrified.
I broke up with this show when it became clear it was going to wallow and spin its own wheels and suck Rick's dick forever and that at least one of its creative minds genuinely seemed to think that was great and smart and good storytelling and if you didn't love it then you were just too stupid to appreciate his brilliance. But every once in a while the show managed to do something really interesting by approaching something heavy and awful sidelong with absurdist sci-fi and gross-out humour in a way that just worked for me.
I tried to do that here and found out just how hard it is to get a handle on that tone of almost manic energy with total black despair oozing out around all the edges. I think it really turned out, here, and despite no longer having any interest in anything to do with the show, I'm proud of it.
Also, I still love Summer.
I'm going to tag @daddygrandpaandthebeaver, @bixxelated, @marzipanandminutiae, @definitely-not-a-bug, @aquitainequeen, and, as usual, anybody who'd like to do it!
#chatter#summer smith the nega jazz fenton#i still want to rescue her and beth from that story#(beth would do SO GOOD in discworld. everything about her would absolutely thrive in discworld. discworld would reward her so hard#unfortunately she got a story where you get punished instead for recognising that the inherent meaninglessness of the universe>#<means you get to choose your own meaning; and choosing connection with and caring about others over nihilism#despite the latter being easier#man maybe i should've put 'that old black magic' on here too#nobody who commented on it seemed to actually...get it#and after I did all that stuff with colour symbolism too)#this is mary's fic tag

Hey hi howdy hi if you have like a list of queer fantasy books you liked would it be alright if you shared them? i’m so low on spoons but would love to read some happy stuff if you’ve got any recs, all good if not! was just curious!
OK so I've got a couple things, but depending on what you mean by "happy", some might count and some might not, so I'm gonna group them by like "Happy/Feelgood" for the really sweet stuff vs "I wouldn't say they're "Feelgood' kind of warm-fuzzy, or at least they aren't entirely that, but they're def Hopeful at their core". (i tend to lean more towards things that have Angst even if the core is hopeful. i could list a lot more in the Mixed But Hopeful section, but i tried to stick to ones that felt more 'energetic' in tone, if that makes sense)
Feelgood
House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune. Lonely man gets assigned to assess the "safety" of a boarding house for kids with supernatural powers and learns to enjoy life along the way.
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas. Trans latino boy performs a magic ritual to prove himself to his family and ends up having to help a ghost move to the afterlife. This one is YA, so might not be your thing but I thought it was really cute and fun. Does include some elements of transphobia, but the overall tone of the story is cute and heartfelt, and the transphobia bits are resolved positively. Lots of emphasis on self acceptance and family.
Legends and Lattes by Travis Baldree. Orc woman retires from fighting and opens a coffeeshop. This one didn't particularly do it for me, but I know a lot of people like it so you might also.
Hopeful at their Core
Witchmark by CL Polk. Mage who works as a doctor meets a mysterious man and ends up investigating a murder while trying to help his patients suffering from a mysterious illness. Deals with abusive family backgrounds but is overall pretty lighthearted/energetic.
Winter's Orbit by Everina Maxwell. Arranged marriage in an intergalactic empire gets complicated when half of the pair's previous relationships and potential criminal activity come to light. Feels pretty fanfic-y (i say as someone who doesnt really read fanfic, so take with a grain of salt) in a fun way. Deals with past relationship abuse, but isnt graphic and is overall pretty lighthearted and fun
The Last Sun by KD Edwards. Disgraced Atlantean noble and his life companion/best friend/bodyguard get hired to search for a missing person, only to get entangled with a legendary monster connected to the fall of said noble's court 15 years prior. YMMV with this one cause it deals with a lot of heavy stuff like abuse and sexual assault and gets pretty dark at points, but at the same time the series is really funny, the banter is so good, and it has some of the best and most fun found family dynamics going on in like anything I've read or watched. Like those 2012 avengers fanfics where all the characters live in the same house and do shenanigans except its actually canon and also they can say the fuck word.
True Love Bites by Joy Demorra. Disabled werewolf captain takes a job on an island and grows close to a vampire nobleman. Things get complicated when a mysterious woman shows up with news that the world's magical wells are dying. There's an explicit version and a fade to black version depending on which youd prefer. Explicit version has a red cover and the fade to black has a blue cover (I personally read the blue cover version). I want to gnaw on the characters (esp vlad) like a dog with a cocaine chew toy
#books#book rec#sorry this took like all day to answer i was at work and then i was getting groceries and formatting is easier on desktop than mobile

Previous anon who has been using your recommendations to learn more about 616-Namor after seeing BP:WF! I saw the list of five stories/arcs you recommended, but I was wondering if those would also be the five you think best get to the core of *who* Namor is. If you have different recs for the "essence" of Namor, I'd love to hear them! I'm still starting from the beginning, but I'd like to know if there are any you'd recommend paying particular attention to for characterization! Thank you!!
I've gotten a question like this before but seeing as that old ask is from 4 years ago I think this is a good time to update my "core Namor character moments comics" list. The best writers who understand Namor's character very well are Greg Pak, Kurt Busiek, Roy Thomas.
Marvel's Snapshots: Sub-Mariner (2020)
Sub-Mariner Comics 70th Anniversary Special (2009)
Marvel Comics Presents (2019) #1
Marvels (1994) #1 + 4
Marvels: Inner Demons (1996)
The Marvels Project (2009)
Uncanny X-Men (1963) #6
Daredevil (1964) #7
New Warriors (1990) #44
What if? The Sub-Mariner Grew Up on Land *this is an AU comic set in 717 but it's very good Namor characterization, it's written by Greg Pak
Captain America & Namor (2012) #635.1
Captain America & Bucky (2011) #622 / Winter Soldier: Winter Kills (2006) / Thor the Mighty Avengers (2010) #5 / The Avengers (1998) #59-61 *cameos but worth mentioning
Sub-Mariner (2007) - honestly this is one of my favorite series, I don't like the ending but understand why they wrote it that way but the rest of the characterization is so on point.
King in Black: Namor - cannot overstate how great this comic series is because you get to see a younger Namor and Older one that's very tired and beaten down by life
Avengers/Invaders (2008) #3 - once again a young Prince Namor vs an older King Namor, you get to see how he's grown from brash young upstart princeling to steady calculating king
Dark Reign: The Cabal (2009) - there's a short story here about how Namor conducts his court and it's a good character study
Marvel Comics Presents (1988) #33
Marvel (2020) #3
I know I haven't gotten to all of the comics I enjoy and think help showcase Namor's character since he's been in a lot of stuff but hopefully you can start with these. I also recommend Sub-Mariner: The Depths if you want to see how chillingly scary Namor can be. It's a fan favorite comic by many Namor fans. Imo Silver Age Namor is the best Namor, the more modern Namor writing like Hickman's has him colder/harder. The best teams to read Namor in is Invaders and Defenders.
#namor#namor the sub mariner#comic recs#comic guide#reading guide#imp answers#ahhh someday I will do a deep dive and catalogue more stuff

hey i was wondering if you had any good recommendations for 2012 avengers tower fics? i need to heal myself after endgame. thanks!
hey! this pretty much turned into “domestic avengers in avengers tower and peter’s there too” because peter wasn’t (really) in the mcu at that point? so i had to go off of the vibe of the fic if that makes sense? idk i did my best and i hope you enjoy them! don’t forget to comment and leave kudos. ily, thanks for asking and i hope these help your post-endgame blues x
Hello Midtown High by AmyR
This is basically domestic Avengers and Peter Parker, with a slight smattering of the Field Trip trope thrown in. It’s really just domestic Avengers though.
•-•
Peter really wasn’t at 100% the day he fell asleep in class. And when he gets sent to the Principal’s office and suspended, he expected to spend a nice weekend home at the tower, without anything to think about.
However, when the entirety of his Physics class shows up in the middle of Hair Club, he isn’t too sure what to do. He is forced to interact with them, and had to deal with some rather invasive questions as to his presence at the tower.
Will he manage to keep his secret?
Hopefully
Is Tony Stark not as heartless as he wants everyone to believe?
Yes
Does Iron Man really love his Spider Son?
Without a doubt.
•-•
Honestly, its tagged as field trip but it’s just so domestic Avengers…
Also, idk why this is so damn long. I just can’t control myself, clearly.
-
tony stark but he’s an internet sensation by jophieso series
“Hammer had managed to ahold of the tower’s security footage from the last few months and had decided to leak it to the public. However, the stunt didn’t have the intended effect.
At all.
Suffice to say, the two hours of footage that was just Barnes sitting on the floor of the communal kitchen, eating cup after cup of yogurt, didn’t send the general public into some sort of negative uproar. Nor did the solid fifteen minutes of Clint crying over Marley and Me.
The only reaction that was garnered was a wildly ridiculous one, from – as Peter had named it – Avengers stan twitter.”
-
Peter & Bucky Are Pals by DJ_unicornsrgr8 series
This series is set in the verse of Owlet’s Infinite Coffee and Protection Detail, which is absolutely wonderful.
If you like friendship and lots of fluff with some angst and hurt/comfort on the side, this series is for you! It’s centered around Peter and Bucky’s friendship, but has a lot of Superfamily content, too. I hope you enjoy; I’ve had a lot of fun writing this!
-
Parenting for Superheroes by somebocly
Peter laughed gleefully from the corner of the ceiling right above the two, worry filled, heroes.
“I’m Spider Man, Man of the Spiders!”, he called out, eyes glistening with delight.
Changing his voice he answered himself right after. “Captain America and Iron Man quiver before me!”
“Fuck off!!”, his normal voice finished, as another loud laugh left his mouth and he swung across the room eyeing the baffled looking heroes.
“For the last time”, Tony’s fed up voice could be heard as he charged after the kid, a pillow laying in his arms, because, well the child could fall. “What the hell does that mean?!”
AKA Peter thought coffee and energy drinks would mix well together while staying at the Avengers Tower.
-
5 Times Tony Denied Having a Kid by Katie_the_book_nerd
… and the one time he just went with it.
Contains Ceiling Vent Clint, a staple of the 2012 MCU genre
Miscommunications by Isnt_it_pretty_to_think_so
Rhodey gives Tony an unhappy look. “We’re standing in front of a high school, Tony. Just break the news to me already.”
OR: Five times the Avengers learn about Peter Parker, and the one time the rest of the world does, too.

2012 Avengers Tower: a fic rec list
I think we all sometimes yearn for the days when we thought Marvel would let the Avengers be friends who all lived together and fought supervillains in between movie nights.
Though these stories weren't all written or set in 2012 post-Avengers 1 era, but they all feature that team hanging out, having fun, and supporting each other through difficulties.
The list is in chronological order, with fic published from 2012 to 2024.
Amateur Theatrics by galaxysoup (@galaxystew-zombie) (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 26,586 words | Published April 01, 2012)
Summary: In which Thor’s primary problem-solving method (a mighty blow from Mjolnir) fails to have the desired effect on a magical artifact, and his secondary method (a mightier blow from Mjolnir) proves to be actively disastrous.
Big in Japan by gunboots (@gunboots) (Loki/Thor, Stucky | Teen And Up Audiences | 6,203 words | Published May 01, 2012)
Summary: Steve hesitantly reaches out and takes the object in Tony’s arms to survey it. 'It' being a pillow upon which was an almost frighteningly accurate illustration of Loki, their on-and-off again nemesis. "I don't--how did you even get this? Who would MAKE this?" Clearly Steve doesn't find the attention-to-detail on Loki's costume as hilarious as Tony does, which whatever. Like he said. Killjoy. A.K.A The one time Tony buys Thor the world's worst souvenir and it somehow worked out in the end anyway.
The rest are below the cut!
Soft Skills by Lady_Ganesh (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 4,154 words | Published May 31, 2012)
Summary: "So," Bruce said carefully. "You're saying that your tower became a big target for an alien army, so you're going to rebuild it as an even bigger target?" "Well, when you put it like that, it sounds stupid," Tony said. The team tries to bring Steve Rogers into the 21st Century. It mostly works. As my beta CaptainBlue said: Also I love how you did a fic about Avengers team building and still managed to make it 100% about Cap. You have a gift. This is why I love her. Any remaining mistakes are mine.
Without the Usual Cost of Labor by vain_glorious (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 6,387 words | Published June 15, 2012)
Summary: "Someone just reported to SHIELD that whatever was stolen produced “viable offspring,” and we’re hoping that doesn’t mean what we think it does,” Bruce says, evidently deciding to take over for Tony after only one masturbation joke. Also available as a podfic read by blackglass
The Great Avengers Body Swap by vain_glorious (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 3,712 words | Published July 23, 2012)
Summary: Loki and the Avengers spend a month in SHIELD's detention cells, because Loki cast a bodyswapping spell against them and got himself with it, too. Also available as a podfic read by blackglass
The Ice in Windless Cold by Isagel (@isagelc) (OT6 | Explicit | 11,883 words | Published August 19, 2012)
Summary: "I dream about the ice," Steve says. "About being in the ice." Also available as a podfic read by susan_voight
Private Bookmark? by storiesfortravellers (Gen | Mature | 2,638 words | Published August 24, 2012)
Summary: The Avengers discover that there are fans who write explicit RPF fic about them. Some of them are very confused. Some are proud. Some don't understand why everyone writes the pairings who aren't together but hardly anyone writes the couple who actually is together. Much silliness ensues. Also available as a podfic read by analise010, AshesandGhost, dapatty, fire_juggler, lorcalon (uniquepov), Opalsong, Weebs813
The Goat's Back by arsenicarcher (Arsenic) (Gen | Mature | 10,155 words | Published November 30, 2012)
Summary: An AU where Steve's essentially a failed experiment, corporal punishment is the predominant form of discipline and team leaders take the punishments for those under them.
Dear Clint Barton (circa age 7) by pollyrepeat (@pollyrepeat) (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 4,221 words | Published March 31, 2013)
Summary: The most annoying parts of being de-aged (and then re-aged) are your friends. Also available as a podfic read by RsCreighton (@rosecreighton)
What We Pretend To Be by ifitwasribald (Gen, Bruce Banner/Tony Stark | Explicit | 100,697 words | Published July 14, 2013)
Summary: Good becomes great, bad becomes worse. But people are a hell of a lot more complicated than good and bad. When half of the team is dosed with the super soldier serum, they all have to grapple with their own pasts and futures. But for better or for worse, they’re all in it together.
Speak So We Can Hear Your Heart Beat by Jaune_Chat (@jaune-chat) (Gen, Clint Barton/Natasha Romanov, Pepper Potts/Tony Stark, Jane Foster/Thor | Mature | 15,402 words | Published November 10, 2014)
Summary: The Avengers are rendered mute by Amora the Enchantress. As a search for a cure grows more and more dim every day, the Avengers have to deal with the reality of learning to communicate with each other in a whole different way. Uncertain if they'll be able to fight again, they enlist the help of their friends, and learn some surprising things about each other as they struggle to hold onto their identities as the World's Greatest Heroes.
The Health Benefits of Knitting by Niobium (@niobiumao3) (Gen | General Audiences | 1,179 words | Published January 15, 2015)
Summary: Clint isn't sure what's really relieving Natasha's stress—the knitting, or the part where she foists the horrible results off on other people. Also available as a podfic read by reena_jenkins (@reena-jenkins)
Clint Barton's Guide to Friends and Ceiling Vents by NoliteTimereEos (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 6,488 words | Published July 11, 2015)
Summary: In which Clint Barton meets a missing assassin in the vents and somehow becomes friends with him. Things don't go as bad as they could have. Also available as a podfic read by babbling_bedlamite
How to Train Your Superheroes by StuckySituation (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 3,150 words | Published March 05, 2019)
Summary: “But of course, no matter how much we practice on schedule, we will need to learn constant vigilance and manage to get our reaction times down to the minimum,” Steve continues and takes the last burger beef from the grill and puts it onto the table next to him. Natasha has a brief millisecond to frown and think “Constant vigilance?”, before Steve kicks the grill so hard that the coals rain on top of the flammable carpet feet away. “What the hell-!?” “STEVE!?” Steve is already sprinting towards the ledge. “First training session started! Wanda, Sam, Tony - someone CATCH ME!” Then he jumps off the Tower. Also available as a podfic read by vassalady (@vassalady)
Do You Remember Being Happy? ('Cause I Sure Don't) by GalaxyThreads (@galaxythreads) (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 11,022 words | Published April 25, 2020)
Summary: "Dragr," Thor called them. "Demons" Clint had said. "Thieves" is what Steve labels them as. AKA, the one where Steve is captured by creatures that feed off of happy memories, and the team is left to pick up the pieces. Post-Avengers.
5 Times Steve Dealt with His Team's Sleeping Habits... by The67ImpalaDragonChild (@dragonimpal67) (Gen | Teen And Up Audiences | 29,606 words | Published November 08, 2020)
Summary: ...and one time they dealt with his. Steve didn't think anything of it when he moved into the Avengers tower. He didn't think about how much the people he's living with would affect him. He's thinking about it NOW! Who knew a bunch of super heroes could be so weird about something as basic as the need to sleep?
on the mend by meidui (@meidui) (Gen | General Audiences | 1,438 words | Published February 03, 2024)
Summary: Steve rarely feels this awful after a fight, but then again, he hasn’t been on a solo mission in months.

Do you have any recommendations for good comics featuring Rogue predominantly? Hardest part imo of having favorite X-Men is finding series that actually use them or focus on them.
sorry for taking a few days I've been a little busy and also wanted to make sure any comics I reccomended were actually featuring her prominently so I skimmed through some (: this absolutely isn't everything and just some of my favourites I've remembered off the top of my head! If you're actually interested in reading more this is a really good reading list for her!
Uncanny X-Men (1963) #158 she's still a villian here and we see her end up in a fight with some of the X-Men!
Uncanny X-Men (1963) #171-175 + 178 this covers the period of time when Rogue officially joins the X-Men
Uncanny X-Men (1963) #182 really really good issue centered just around her and specifically on her absorbing Carol's memories and she meets Rossi who had been with Carol before Rogue had absorbed her memories and all that.
Uncanny X-Men (1963) #185 largely about both rogue and ororo and they interact a lot in the issue + people have made a gun that can take away powers and are trying to use it to take away rogue's powers
Uncanny X-Men (1963) #218
Uncanny X-Men (1963) #224 (She's not in it much but there's a really good scene with her and Mystique that I like a lot)
Uncanny X-Men (1963) #229-250 this is the outback era, she's in some issues more prominently then others but she's a member of the team and there's a lot of stuff here that I like for her (:
Rogue (1995) Rogue (2001, though it is also just called Rogue on some sites) and Rogue (2004) obviously, her three solos are comics you can read for her!
X-Men (1991) #188-205 + 207
X-Men Legacy (2008): 220-275. this comic features rogue in a starring and important role throughout all these issues!!
Uncanny Avengers (2012) & (ii) after X-Men Legacy she ends up on the Avengers unity team as a prominent character
there's not a lot really any 90s recs here not because I don't like her 90s content because I do but I definitely haven't read nearly as much from 90s X-Men and I don't remember a lot from what I have read, and in the case for Rogue the stuff I have read for her in the 90s was specifically for her relationship with gambit and I wasn't sure if you were looking for that or not so decided just to go with comics I knew featured her and actually remembered well. if you do want to read about them here's a list for them!

Hey I've never read any comics but I'm interested. I have no clue where to start. Do you have any recs? I'm interested in anything Loki, and I also really like Bucky if you know any good comics about him. But I'm open to any suggestions even if they aren't about those two. Also how would you recommend accessing them? I don't have the ability rn to actually get comics thru libraries/purchase. Thank you so much!
You can access them online for free in these places (but remember to support your local bookstores and libraries if you can!):
https://view-comic.com/ has readable pdf/site comics
https://readcomiconline.to/ and https://readcomicsonline.ru/ (beware the ads)
https://getcomics.info/marvel/ is a place to download comics
And you can purchase the digital versions of the comics online at Marvel’s website (and access a few free issues there too, not necessarily Loki though) here.
If you’re only just starting to read Loki comics and are just wanting to give it a try I recommend reading Agent of Asgard, because it’s a must-read. (There are 17 issues/chapters.)
Here’s what I think are major modern comics in the order I recommend reading them: Thor: Season 1, Thor (2007) up till Issue #606, Siege: The Cabal, Siege: Loki, Thor (2007) Issue #607 onwards, Journey into Mystery Issues #622 onwards, Asgardians of the Galaxy, the Infinity Wars event, Young Avengers (2013), Agent of Asgard, Original Sin: Thor & Loki - The Tenth Realm, Ms Marvel (2014) Issue #12, Mighty Thor (2016), Doctor Strange Issues #381-#386, the War of the Realms event, Loki (2019), Thor & Loki: Double Trouble (2021)
But! If that is a lot! Start with this list, as there is less jumping through comics: Thor: Season 1, Siege: Loki, Siege (2010), Journey into Mystery, Young Avengers, Agent of Asgard, War of the Realms Prelude, Mighty Thor (2016), Thor (2018), War of the Realms (2019), Loki (2019), Thor & Loki: Double Trouble (2021)
Or, an even shorter list to understand modern Loki’s arc: Siege: Loki, Journey into Mystery, Young Avengers, Agent of Asgard.
And here’s @geehollow ‘s reading list for an actual comprehensive list of all Loki’s comic appearances ever in the event you wish to read everything in the correct order by issue or want more comics to read: (x)
I haven’t read a lot of Bucky but Winter Soldier (2012), Tales of Suspense: Hawkeye and the Winter Soldier (2017) and The Winter Soldier: Second Chances (2018) and Falcon & Winter Soldier (2020) are decent.
#I do recommend the hawkeye and bucky one that one has some good lines#haven't read much bucky though#if this is still too many Loki comics just start with Journey into Mystery and then Young Avengers and then Agent of Asgard#they summarize things well and are a good place to start if you want to know where the recent loki is at#Loki (2019) is the most recent Loki-centric run that's in 616 i think#but Double Trouble is good and still in progress#for other comics I guess you could literally pick any Avengers comic XD#then branch out#the comics tend to have recs and guides to what the next issues are so you can jump around and follow what storyline you like#hope this helps uwu#comic recs#comic list recs#also as always mega kudos to @geehollow for their comic reading list

Vinlander by @sapphire-reverie
The year is 2012. Darcy Lewis, a S.H.I.E.L.D. lab assistant (or intern) to astrophysicist Jane Foster, is transferred with her boss to Norway to build a specialized prison cell. Shortly after the prisoner arrives along with the Tesseract, Darcy is accidentally transported from the lab. Suddenly she is a Vinlander--a person from the lands far to the west--in Viking territory torn by warring clans during the late 8th century.
Hurled back in time by the Tesseract, an object she is unable to hold and control let alone understand, Darcy is catapulted into the intrigues of Viking kings, queens, warriors, and Gods that may threaten her life...and steal her heart. For here Loki, the Norse God of Mischief, shows her protection and a love so intense that Darcy becomes a woman torn between wanting to return to her own time where he is a hated enemy and the desire to be with the version of him she loves...and between vastly different versions of her own two irreconcilable lives.

Shrike to Your Sharp by mylevelance
Darcy is bored. Her dating life is falling a bit flat and if she has to look at one more atmospheric reading she's going to scream. When Jane asks if she wants to go to Asgard for some wedding, she jumps at the chance. Maybe space dudes are the way to go?
Loki is trapped. His father has decreed that he must marry if he wishes to keep his position. If he's offered one more simpering fool he's going to scream. When a mortal interrupts the beheading of his latest suitor, he is intrigued. Maybe Earth might have more to offer than a reminder of his failure?
They might be wary of each other, and a little bit insane, but there's never been a bind they couldn't talk their way out of, right?

When it comes to dating space gods, Darcy has plenty of theories. She just never thought she'd actually get to test them.

As The World Falls Down bytheblackberrybelle
Darcy Lewis decides that after David Bowie passes, she was going to hold a little Labyrinth movie night at her place. Then she decided that she was going to invite Loki, since he'd never seen the movie. What happens after that...is sort of magical.

Waking Up by Q_it
Loki came to consciousness by the call of warm, tender lips against his neck. His eyes flickered open for a bare second, finding their room on Vanaheim aglow with bright morning light. It had been too long since he was able to pull his beloved away from her work. So, he planned a holiday for the two of them on Vanaheim because the Vanir were rather relaxed peoples who thought nothing of young lovers spending the entire week in bed.

Darcy Lewis was going to get laid this evening. This wasn’t going to be one of those shitty hook-ups. This was going to be the best hook-up of her life. She wasn’t going to have an orgasm. She was going to have many orgasms and she knew exactly the man for the job. Except he wasn’t really a man. He was more like a god.

Manic Taser Dream Girl by @anniemar
Upon Darcy's return to the U.S. after encountering evil space-elves in London, and after her recent break-up with Ian, she receives her first mission as an official S.H.I.E.L.D. agent ... teaching a god how to blend in better (absolutely no horns), or he might find himself in very big trouble.
Basically, if Darcy got her own movie, and I got to write it ... this is what it would be.
Events set post-Thor: TDW and during CA: TWS.

The Sound of Heartstrings by @mischiefgoddesscomplex
Darcy Lewis is just a college grad trying to make some money over the summer before finding a real job. But when she's hired as a nanny, she never imagined it would be for the daughter of musical prodigy and rock god, Loki Laufeyson. Taking care of a spoiled six year-old girl is one thing. Falling for her famous, silvertongue father? That's another thing entirely. AU real world setting. The Avengers/Superheroes don't exist, but the characters still do (and they're all bamfs).

Sparks Flew by freudensteins_monster
There came a point when breaking Loki out of prison, to assist in the fight against some evil or another, was occurring so regularly that the Allfather decided to alter Loki’s sentence from “life in prison” to “community service”. It was either that or install a revolving door. Loki was forced to wear a magical bracelet (or “shackle”, as Loki would whine) which not only limited his access to his powers when he wasn’t on a battlefield, but also bind him, to a radius of ten yards, to his parole office, Thor.
Occasionally Thor (and Jane) needed a break from his brooding brother. Enter Darcy Lewis.
