Nemo laughs at Erik and Dracula's failed attempts to kidnap-and-seduce
Dracula: Rich, powerful, supernaturally entrancing--also a predatory bastard toward his captive.
Erik: Genius, multitalented, lover of music and the arts--also a predatory bastard toward his captive.
Nemo: Genius, rich, champion of the oppressed and the ocean's majesty--not a predatory bastard toward his captive(s).
Hmm. Just can't tell where the Count and the Phantom are going awry. What do you think, Captain?
Nemo, juggling buried treasure, pouring out impassioned tales of history, the sea, and aiding his fellow victims on land, playing a melancholy and powerful organ piece, taking Aronnax on a date tour of Atlantis: I really can't say. Guess it's a mystery that will never be solved.

Hi! I think I'm going INSANE, but I swear one of the last times I rode 20kLUTS there was a mermaid who swam and it was incredibly fluid and life like. This would have been at Disneyland. Any idea of what it could have been?
Hmm... this is a bit of a conundrum. There WAS no 20k Leagues ride at Disneyland... it was called Submarine Voyage there. And the only mermaids that I can recall in Submarine Voyage weren't exactly what one would call fluid or lifelike. The ones that were swimming just kind of bobbed around at best. Audio-Animatronics didn't exist at the time of Submarine Voyage's creation, so these were pretty primitive figures compared to the ones one might see in an attraction today.
Tumblr media
I'm also a bit befuddled at your claims to have ridden this attraction, because it closed a few years before you were born, if you truly are 20 years old, as it closed in 1998. Also, the actual 20K Leagues ride at WDW closed in 1994. So there really is no way for you to have ridden either of these attractions.
Any of our followers have any thoughts on this?

Pour one out for WDW's long-gone 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage. Seen here in 1976 (under refurbishment) and 1973, the attraction was serviced by light olive green trash cans labeled "Waste Paper." Unfortunately, this ride closed September 5, 1994. // Walt Disney World, Magic Kingdom, Fantasyland, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea: Submarine Voyage, 1976 & 1973 [Source: Steve Boutet. Captain Nemo
There are two Captain Nemos in Disney canon and we will be looking at both of them.
The first Captain Nemo is from the live action film 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.
The second Captain Nemo is an alternate reality version of the first Captain Nemo where he survived and continued to contribute to scientific research from his island Vulcania and this version is the one who appears in the Disney Parks.

Hey, remember when I thought “20,000 leagues” was the depth and not the distance, and several people corrected me? That was a good time.
And I’m being genuinely honest about that. I loved the input that people...put in (I’m not always good with words -- I have my moments, but this is not one of them).
I remember riding the Submarine Voyage (oooh, I feel a bonus happy cry coming on) at Disneyland and the captain saying “Ease her back up to 80 fathoms” so I just assumed that “fathoms” was a depth indicator. But I learned things in the reblogs/replies to that post, and that makes me happy. I like learning new things. It means that even though I’m 45 years old, I still have more to learn. And that’s actually a really good feeling.
So yeah, here’s a bonus happy-cry:
