Yen Sid Comments: The song was written by the Sherman Brothers in 1964 and was recorded by the Disneyland Children's Chorus. A final verse was reveled in November of 2024. The ride made it's debut at the 1964 New York's World Fair and was then taken to Disneyland's Fantasyland. The ride (and song) has also been reproduced for the Magic Kingdom, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

Haunted Mansion Characters To Know PT 1:

Tw: mention of suicide (not really graphic but just so yall are aware)

The Ghost Host

His story is that he got stuck in the stretching room and took his own life but after the rumors and the 2023 movie it sounds like the story is going to change bc of the sight of a hanging man being deemed a little too dark for the light-hearted family friendly haunted house ride Walt Disney had intended. The 2023 movie showed them breaking through the glass at the top so maybe they’ll do that. There are also rumors they’ll replace the hanging scene with bats. So sometimes he has a rope on his neck and sometimes he doesn’t.

Master Gracey

He’s the owner of the mansion but judging by his name that story only makes sense for Disneyland Haunted Mansion. This is bc the Disneyland version is meant to be an old plantation house in New Orleans while the Disney World version being a North Eastern American home. Nonetheless he’s still the changing portrait in the foyers as you first walk in both of the U.S. Haunted Mansions. There’s also the story from the 2003 movie that he fell in love with (in that movies case) the bride Elizabeth Henshaw who was biracial and Master Gracey’s racist butler killed her and staged it as a suicide. Although that story has nothing to do with any version of the actual ride.

Madame Leota

She was a fortune teller (in New Orleans at Disneyland). When she died she was cursed into her crystal ball forever.

The bride

She has many different stories and therefore many different names. In the U.S. parks they have the one on the left but at one point they had a beating heart bride. I’ll make another post explaining her stories but the left bride is the current one. Her name is Constance Hatchaway. Her story summarized is that she married rich men and killed them for their money.

My historically accurate Redd head canon:

Going outta character for a second to post this.

I think her historically accurate backstory could be that when she was 17 she was auctioned off to be a bride and was being shipped to the next auction when a pirate ship overthrew the ship and killed the auctioneer and all of his men. The pirates set the women free but Redd knew she would just be targeted again so she proposed that she be part of the pirate crew and when they decided she was good enough to fight they let her be a crew member. Then she became a captain of her own ship and eventually lived in New Orleans. They couldn’t arrest her bc she would plea pregnant and they couldn’t prove that wrong fast enough back then. She met Constance and they would kill bad men for their money and live happily ever after together.

I thought way too hard about this.
