The Tintin Timeline

So the Tintin canon continuity is, uh, a mess. It's a "floating timeline" specifically, which is a literary term for when serialized media takes place during the present of whenever it's being worked on. However, nobody seems to have taken a look at the exact timeline within the canon, and exactly how long the stories take place within Tintin's life. All of the following data is approximate, with most of it taken from the setting boxes (i.e. "Two days later") and by studying how many nights pass within each story.

A quick note: Certain spans of time in the book are designated with vague quantifiers, such as ��several” or “a few”. However, 7 days is always designated with “a week”. I explain my estimation where necessary, but I usually see the former spans as being within 3-5 days. Again, these are all approximations and I am not claiming any sort of canon declaration; these are presented for entertainment purposes.

Land of the Soviets: 9 days

Congo: 22 days (Tintin spends at least 17 days in the Congo, while his journey there on the boat is said to take “several days”. Given the mode of transport and the distance, I have estimated it as being about 5 days.)

America: approx. 3 weeks (20-23 days)

Cigars: approx. 2 weeks (15-18 days)

Blue Lotus: approx. 4 weeks (25-30 days)

The Broken Ear: approx. 6 weeks (39-42 days)

Black Island: 7 days

Ottokar: approx. 2 weeks (14-15 days)

Crab: approx. 2 weeks (13-14 days)

Shooting Star: approx. 5 weeks (the main story elapses over 20 days; the last page has a scene “some weeks” later, which I interpreted as a fortnight)

Unicorn: approx. 10 days

Rackham: approx. 48 days (The main story seems to elapse over 45 days, and the last page seems to happen some days later)

Seven Crystal Balls: 9 days

Prisoners of the Sun: at least 41 (there are three unaccounted-for periods, when 1. Tintin’s group is climbing the mountains [“days go by” until “one morning”, which I interpreted as being at least 3 days], 2. when they trek through the jungle [”the days go by”, again 3 days], and 3. at the end of the book [”several days later”, interpreted as 6 days])

Black Gold: approx. 27 days (13 days + “some weeks” estimated as a fortnight. The ensuing album opens with Haddock and Tintin returning home, where they hear Calculus has been gone since three weeks before)

Destination Moon: approx. 144 days (This one has the larges jumps in time. The first 36 pages happen over 41 days, then “some months” pass, estimated at 3)

Explorers: 10 days

Calculus Affair: 11 days

Red Sea Sharks: 30 days

Tibet: 33 days

Castafiore Emerald: at least 21 days (there are 18 accounted-for days, and then a period indicated just with “The days go by”. Given how most time lapses in the book are spans of 3 days, this period was at least three days long as well)

Flight 714 to Sydney: 1 day + 7 days (main story; pages 60-62 take place about a week later)

Picaros: 15 days

Total: The events of the The Adventures of Tintin take place over approximately 613 days.

But is it a linear timeline? We have no word on how much time passes between each album, but we’ll add at least one week between each one - except for America/Cigars/Lotus, Destination/Explorers, Crystal/Prisoners, and Unicorn/Rackham - just to give each album’s settings enough time to transition into a new story. This gives us an additional 17 weeks (17 x 7 days). With all of this calculated together, the series happens over the course of approximately 2 years, 2 days...at least, according to a bored fan who likes to count (ง ื▿ ื)ว

This year i had ALOT of new experiences, some were bad, some good. This year i have met alot of new wonderful people and some worse things happened as well. But this year, i want to have a plan. a clear one. to be prepared for next year. last year my plans were pretty sloppy so i just did what i did (ง ื▿ ื)ว but even though i didnt have a clear plan this year was probably one of the best ones i have had in a while.

My goals for 2024:

Purchase a gym card and go to the gym twice a week (3 during the holidays)

build a good everything-shower routine

Just keep getting the same grades and just stay the same way in school (I have been a little better than average my whole life at school and thats enough for me for now)

eat healthily and try not to eat sweets during the week

focus on physics and chemistry more though

buy 2 different journals, a little one and a big one. To the big one use it as a diary, write your thoughts on it every day. to the small one write your goals and plans and how they went shortly to keep track of achievements.

Talk to atleast 2 new people every month. Meet new people and make a good impression to people. you get new experiences through meeting new people regularly.

use a moisturizer every day especially in the winter

do the english extra exam for the extra pointsss

get a summer job with a good pay (ill work for half of the holiday)

purchase a vespa

get wasted on your birthday (IDC IF ITS UNHEALTHY I WILL HAVE A BOMB BIRTHDAY PARTY)

go visit different cities with friends

talk to new people at your summer camp and get friends from other schools

❤️colors: generally i will give up after i have a sketch and slither off to binge horror novels, but RARELY i might proceed onto the coloring stage… i have this disorder in which i need to maximize the vibrancy of every pixel on my screen or i’ll Die. 🪦(ɷ ꒪ཀ꒪)ɷ for shadows, i rarely use black unless i reallyyy need to; i just do dark purple! 🦄💜🔮🪄 for highlights, i never go for pure white; usually it’s cream or neon yellow, but sometimes skin will have these little light green spots to stand out (this is actually a color theory thing i learned from oil painting… green vs. red!) 😸🍏🤝🍎😸

🧡overlay: i have at least 2 different layers set to overlay, so i can augment color vibrancy EVEN MORE and make things ✨glowy✨ like a 💥flash bomb💥!! on my first overlay layer, i go over dark colors with either dark brown or dark purple, set to a very very low opacity (practically transparent) to make things DRAMATIC, and then lose all my marbles on highlights at regular opacity!! my other overlay layer is for me to go crazy with the rosette brush, which looks like those comic book dotsies! ٩(๑′∀ ‵๑)۶•*¨*•.¸¸♪

💚touch-ups: after i’ve given up on my drawing and accepted that this is the most i can do, i proceed to do even more to it by slapping filters on it in picsart and picmonkey. my go-to filters in each app:

💙picsart: indie 2, usually set at 30% (it makes colors EVEN MORE NEON as if they weren’t eye-searing enough QAQ💧). i used to bypass their dumb af membership thing to access their gorgeousss glitch filter for my backgrounds, BUT THEY REMOVED THE ABILITY TO SCREENSHOT INSIDE THE APP so i hate picsart lol 😸🫶 indie 2 slaps fat cheeks tho

💜picmonkey: my true love!! they don’t hide their BEST FILTERS behind pretentious subscriptions 😁 okay i’ll stop complaining… 😁😁 so much Good Kush in this thing like lux, lightleak (makes things purple and glitchy!), splendor, lush…

💖and then i’m done FOR REALS and i post it and i don’t draw for 3 weeks while i writhe in guilt nyahaha (ง˙∇˙)ว=͟͟͞͞➳❥

Was today's years old to realize that people on YouTube took my (incomplete) Lapidot comic to make videos; dubbed videos, two translated in Spanish and one English dub.

To be honest, idk how to feel about it, maybe jealous because the English dub one it's even monetizing, they are getting money for something I drew meanwhile I'm a poor artist ;w;

All those videos are about 2-3 years old so, should I even bother with "hey, pay me (ง ื▿ ื)ว and let's pretend I'm not jealous/mad".

Also, at this point of life, I'm very VERY lazy and unmotivated to keep working on that comic because I lost interest on Steven Universe in general... BUT... if someone pays me I might consider :3c

8. Who is a morning person? Who is a night owl?

Adrian is definitely a morning person. He goes to sleep so early and wakes up at 4am/5am is a ready for the damn day by 8am. (2-3 hours to get ready, clean the bathroom and his bedroom). Leland is neither, but his work has definitely made him more of a night owl because he has to stay up late so often. His sleep schedule is absolute chaos.

9. Who travels lighter?

Definitely 100% Leland xD. Monk cannot travel light. Even if you paid him $10,000.

10. Who is always reminding the other not to forget important documents/general things before leaving out the door?

I think both of them do this for the other. Leland does it for Adrian cause it calms Adrian down to go through a list of things before leaving the house. Adrian does it for Leland because he's always in a rush to go somewhere and be somewhere or do something.

11. Who leaves notes in the other one's lunch? (Bonus: what do they say?)

Adrian!!!! i have this cute little hc that Adrian sometimes packs Leland little lunches sksksks. he leaves notes like "remember to pick up x" and "don't forget to drink water" and little small silly facts that make Leland's day.

12. Who prefers calling to texting (& vice versa)? Bonus: Who is so bad at texting it made the other think they weren't interested when they first started hanging out? [This could be hypothetical as much as real].

Adrian is TERRIBLE at texting because a) he takes forever to reply - he doesn't misplace his phone and b) he just can't decide the right way to reply cause now he has time to think about how to reply. Leland definitely prefers to call. It's quick, direct and he gets to say everything he wants to and more. Adrian likes it when Leland calls too.

13. Stay home/go-out? What are their date nights like?

A mix of both. If they do go-out - they go to the select places that Adrian has a-okayed. but if Leland wants to surprise him -> he has to do a lot of planning in advance. Stay at home dates are easier cause they can take their time, everything is comfortable and afterward they can sit close and talk, laugh and snog :")

22. Love languages? How do they get around differences, if any?

Leland strikes me (and is) physical touch and words of affirmation. And Adrian is a mix of quality time and occasionally physical touch. physical touch obviously at the beginning (kissing, holding hands etc) takes a while for Adrian to get used to but once he does he is quite needy for them :"D. And Leland is a big physical touch guy. So when Adrian reaches out first he melts and goes weak at the knees.

Adrian is not very good at words of affirmation like Leland is very naturally good at - but he knows the moments when Leland needs it. And if he's not sure he asks!!

Adrian giving quality time to anyone is like a big "you're important". so :") hehe.

23. Who initiates cuddling more?

Adrian. He does it not directly but he sits close and maybe leans his head close to Leland's shoulder too - cue Leland always getting the point.

24. Sleeping/cuddling positions? (Big spoon, little spoon, etc.)?

Adrian likes to sleep on his side of the bed most times and he also ends up going to bed earlier than Leland does so it's always Leland spooning him. hehehehee.

Leland loves Adrian's ability to get things done. To keep going no matter what people think. To get the point of the problem. Adrian loves how Leland is always true to himself and to everyone around him. He loves how Leland, as much as he may despise someone or something, will try everything he can. And one thing they love about each other is that they can be themselves with the other. And that they will always be understood.

26. Who is prone to road rage?

Without a doubt, Leland. He definitely curses out whoever keeps honking at him, "JUMP OVER THEN!" then flips them off.

27. Craziest place they had sex?

(ง ื▿ ื)ว i see you. given how Adrian is so skittish about cleanliness and all,,, it's tough to choose a crazy place. i would say maybe they got close to doing it in the kitchen.
