Not that anyone asked but I'm gonna say it anyway. Princess Daisy isn't the tomboy people present her as. She's not the butch or the jock or the rather-not-be-in-dress that I see people constantly lean into with her.
She's competitive.
Like in what we've gotten for her:
She does all the sports (so does Peach but I rarely see her portrayed more masc than femme).
She's vain (+occasionally bossy).
She's got high standards for approval.
Obsessed with winning.
I understand 1 dimensional characters and character tropes and how a singular interpretation of a 1d character will never satisfy everyone (believe me, I saw the movie, I know). However, when I boiled Daisy down to her dry bone essentials: She's Competitive.
#Princess Daisy#character thoughts#SMB Franchise#this has been sitting in my drafts for a while now seems like a good time to post it#Ive also got a gripe about Rosalina but thats for another day#also dont read this as masc daisy = bad its not. i love it. but i also love the other too#2 things can be true#i love them both your lowliness

I think you need to be able to distinguish between rhetoric that targets homeless people and rhetoric that targets landlords. landlords are leeches; homeless people are not leeches, and if you truly think that because one correctly identifies landlords as and calls them leeches that those same people are going to apply that same rhetoric to others who have demonstrably different life situations then it appears you are offering incredibly poor faith to others :/
Landlords don't need to be abolished because they aren't producing labor, landlords need to be abolished because they withhold shelter. Stop calling them leeches/lazy/not having a "real job"/ etc, that's NOT the problem. People should not have to contribute to society to be alive.
If your critique of landlords can be applied to the homeless or those on welfare, something is deeply wrong with your critique.
#2 things can be true#and it just so happens that pointing out the truth that landlords leech profit from innocent people who both work and cannot work#is helpful rhetoric for encouraging the abolishment of landlords#original post honestly seems like a simple bad faith reading of well intentioned rhetoric :<#op just seems very very pedantic here

IAN GALLAGHER + his journey with bipolar disorder
╰┈➤ “At times, being bipolar can be an all-consuming challenge, requiring a lot of stamina and even more courage, so if you’re living with this illness and functioning at all, it’s something to be proud of, not ashamed of." - Carrie Fisher
#happy world bipolar day to all my bp babies#(more thoughts at the end of the tags)#shameless#shamelessnet#shamelessedit#ian gallagher#cameron monaghan#*macygifs#bipolar disorder#hello pals how are we doin#i made this gif set in july of 2023 and never posted it because 1) i was terrified to share it and potentially see Bad Takes in the tags#and 2) because my hyperfixation was waning. and while both of those things are still mostly true (the fixation comes and goes)#i feel like it's really important to share as ian's bipolar storyline was not only so vital to his character it was a bit of representation#that isn't often given to the disorder and those (like myself) who live with it every single day#world bipolar day is a day where we can both celebrate ourselves and our resilience and also raise awareness of the reality of the disorder#which is both terrifying and beautiful at its core. this disease is not a death sentence or a sentence to an unfulfilled and miserable life#while there are challenges galore when it comes to balancing life with this disorder it IS possible to live a full and productive life#and i think it's really important to have representation of that in media - and while shameless dropped the ball on a LOT of storylines#over the years THIS is the one they really fucking nailed and i am incredibly grateful#i first started watching shameless while in the midst of a major depressive episode and i was later (finally) diagnosed during an extended#hypo/manic episode - this show and ian's storyline got me through so much and made me feel so seen and validated in my struggles#world bipolar day is also vincent van gogh's birthday (happy birthday buddy) who was posthumously diagnosed with bipolar disorder#and who experienced both depressive and hypo/manic episodes during his lifetime (and was regularly institutionalized)#it takes a lot of help and support to keep us going. it takes the support of our family and friends and *most* of all#it takes patience and kindness and understanding - which is so so so easy to give if you are willing to love and listen#so please. be willing. listen to our stories. be patient with us. show us love without conditions. support us in any way you can.#we are worth it#i promise#anyway. that's really all i wanted to say. happy world bipolar day to those who celebrate (me) and may all of us living with this disorder#go on to live happy fulfilling beautiful magical lives

the first episode of fhjy was such a fucking blast. one of my favorite moments was most of the bad kids succeeding on their saving throws against being Frightened by the Night Yorb but Adaine failed, and when Brennan asked Siobhan how this looks/feels for Adaine, Siobhan was answered “i feel a panic attack coming on.”
and it’s like. as much as Adaine has changed since the beginning, it’s really refreshing to see that her anxiety disorder didn’t vanish with her character development. like, they’re acknowledging how that kinda stuff doesn’t just go away — you can’t really get over it so easily. Love u forever Adaine & Siobhan <3
#i know this isn’t a new take or anything#it’s just really nice to see they haven’t forgotten or anything#and i don’t want it to seem like i’m SURPRISED that they’re committed to represent these things well — i know there’s a lot of care that#goes into making & staying true to these characters#i’m just really happy that fantasy high/d20 as a whole is a show that represents this kinda stuff tactfully and truthfully#as truthful as you can be with game mechanics lol#excellent first episode yall. i’m so fucking excited for the AP and ep 2 :3#dimension 20#fantasy high#fantasy high junior year#fantasy high junior year spoilers#fhjy#fhjy spoilers#adaine abernant#siobhan thompson

is PCRF still where you recommend people donate, or do you have another recommended group? I would like to donate but haven’t had time to do research.
(In reference to fundraising campaign I did for PCRF)
One of the most important things I have learned about conflict and healthcare and devastation, from someone who deals with them for their living, is that it is fractal, each piece of it containing unimaginable complexity, and that as a human you can’t really deal much with fractals that get more complex than, like, ferns. I am oversimplifying here. But the thing is that you cannot get bogged down endlessly in debating the nature of fractals. You decide on the level of complexity you can manage , perform an action and move on. You cannot take responsibility for every mathematical pattern that follows from your action; if you were a sort of cosmic weatherman, affecting the fates of people you’ve never met through some vague alchemy of intention, you’d know about it already. Therefore do not obsess too much over The Good Place levels of ethics and research, spiralling into fractals in search of the perfect. Therefore, also, if you want to give £2 to someone, feel free to ignore people who say “ah but if you give £2 to that guy they’ll spend it on something bad, and the whole fractal is rotten and broken.” You can only ever claim your own actions, a small piece of the fractal: to insist on your power over distant pieces of mathematical patterns is bonkers. It is religious nonsense. This is what I’ve learned and I thought it was pretty good, from someone who’d know.
So I believe the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund is not able to operate in Gaza at the moment, like many non-profits; I believe Medeciens Sans Frontiers aren’t in Gaza at the moment and that’s pretty dire indicator. However, they are mobilised in Lebanon.
The reasons why I selected PCRF to support include the fact that they have been able to deliver material aid, had pragmatic routes to evacuate children, and were reporting some success in providing/stabilising healthcare infrastructure. They have stated from the beginning that their intent was to support, and ideally restore, healthcare infrastructure, without which you cannot run a nation. I have known healthcare professionals who traveled with PCRF to work on complex cases prior to this conflict and I personally know/respect one of their prominent supporters, which helped me to make this choice. I also was hoping in the future that Gaza would have restored healthcare infrastructure and PCRF had stated their commitment to doing so.
I have received and listened to criticism about this choice, and I firmly believe that no matter what choice you make to support a cause, you’ll receive some measure of criticism (the fractal! Elodie you must consider the fractal nature of reality at all times! Scrupulous frantic morality is necessary at all times !), and that this should not stop you. To explain a bit about this, the criticisms I’ve received have mostly fallen into two camps:
- “the wrong sort of charity” - one concern is PCRF are not able to promise that their work will never support Hamas supporters or their families. This has been raised as “PCRF support Hamas”. but genuinely, given the realities of conflict, it is not practical or sane to require that people bring proof of political affiliation when seeking healthcare for their children. I’m comfortable saying that this, like other risks of fundraising/donation, is always possible but not a major consideration for me.
- “the wrong sort of fundraiser” - conversely some people stated they’d prefer I support individual families seeking evacuation through GFMs. This is also fine but my choice in the charity was partly in thinking about families who do not have GFMs, and children who do not have families. I also felt, at the time of fundraising, that supporting healthcare infrastructure was very worthy in a different way - after all, at the time the same people doing GFMs were also using/needing what healthcare was available.
My shoulders are broad, and I’m comfortable with these criticism. I am fully aware that this is not a complete solution but I personally continue to support the charity. I am explaining this to indicate that there will always be criticisms; you must accept that you can only take a small piece of the fractal, and you must accept that quite a lot of the fractal was never in your gift to control.
The situation is constantly changing and with the departure of organisations there is genuinely less hope of materially restoring the infrastructure in Gaza. At the moment donations to PCRF will likely be mobilised to Lebanon. It may be that this speaks to you. It does still speak to me.
Ultimately while it’s important to do research, it is always going to become fractal, especially in conflict situations. Nobody’s ever going to be able to point to a perfect thing that will fix everything and absolve us of criticism, you know? You will always only be able to pick up a piece of the fractal.
Now moving away from “what I personally support” there are many people more informed than myself and I would like to direct you to them as well. @gothhabiba is someone I follow who has posted several very useful posts about this and has been extremely informative, and spent a lot of time and attention on this, so I would defer to the resources and fundraisers they’ve put together. Her response to a similar question has been “pick 1-3 personal fundraisers” - this is a piece of the fractal. At the moment if what you want to do most is “materially help people in Gaza” that seems like the best option.
Also he doesn’t post much on social media, but when you get the opportunity to read a scientific article or anything by https://x.com/sullivanprof it’s worth stopping and processing. To me, Richard’s life work really shows how a piece of the fractal unpacks to reveal the whole world. I think if you have emotional space to research, it’s honestly a good investment to read some of his “manifestos” on intersections of healthcare and conflict.
#sorry if this is incoherent there are much better people to ask but I recognise that#by doing a fundraiser it is a very reasonable question#also genuinely the thing about Richard is that he is just so not bogged down by the same concerns you’ll see on social media#like#that’s a guy who just flies into warzones and starts treating people#and when you chat to a guy who does that then a lot of stuff on the internet about how much your £2#like how much tiny little intentions and £3 donations and tumblr posts and like. ao3 tags affect reality#it does put it into perspective. of course it does make a difference but the stuff that actually affects the material world is largekynmat#largely material and it usually looks like a random guy who just. goes. into warzones and treats people. and then stands up in front of#the seats of power and tells them.#and goes to conferences and teaches them.#and he does not worry about ao3 tags at all.#ultimately I’m trying to get at that the paralysis about the complexities of situations is genuine and true#but it’s also very much a state of mind that supports the seat of power#so recognise that a lot of it isn’t in our gift to control and move on with what we can and do control

i'm having trouble forming this thought into words but there's something about melinoë being raised the way that she was and being taught to think the way that she does to the point of not being able to think any other way. it's not naivety and it very much reminds me of how prejudices get passed from parent to child. i keep seeing these statements coming from the olympians saying that the old golden age was a farce and that chronos is manipulating the humans into following him (note that we don't have any living human perspective on what's happening, so we don't really know how far chronos' reach has spread. all we have to go on is what's happening in the realms of the gods and in ephyra). it's all being perpetuated by gods that melinoë has been raised to trust and believe in. i think she could be nearing a tipping point as the plot progresses, though. like i said, i don't think there's necessarily a "good" or "bad" side here, only the side that melinoë/the player is on and the side that chronos is on (plus many of the NPCs that we meet who are generally uninvolved in the whole mess). but there's also a lot that we're missing simply because melinoë is unaware of it.
#hades 2#hades 2 spoilers#just because we play as the protagonist doesn't necessarily mean that she's on the good side and that chronos' side is the bad one#however i also don't think the inverse is true where melinoë is on the bad side and chronos' side is the good side#it's FAR too nuanced to label one side as good and the other as bad. that's the whole point i think#i don't think melinoë is naive per se. i just think that there are things she's unaware of#and there are things she doesn't want to admit#she grew up sheltered and not by the fault of anyone but the one who was hunting her (which was chronos)#(there's a bit of dialogue where chronos is asking hades where his daughter is.)#(it's heard after mel dies some time. i think specifically after a chronos fight or in tartarus somewhere but i may be wrong)#(idk if that was supposed to be recent like during the events of the game or if it was meant to be around the time chronos invaded the house#like i don't think it was hecate's fault in raising melinoë that she grew up sheltered. that was a necessity for mel's safety#but i don't think we can leave the effects that had on melinoë's character out of the conversation#also this thought came to me in a vision (watching tlou2 gameplay and comparing ellie to melinoë)

Sevika took off her arm. the one Jinx carved her symbol into. she probably made Sevika that arm as a backup, just in case, so Sevika would never be without one. maybe she even made it knowing she might not be there one day (cause Isha made her better, but clearly didn't cure her. and I think she knew that).
amongst other things, do you think she did it out of grief? did she do it because she could not carry a reminder of her girl on her body? because it hurt too bad to remember this was the last thing he girl ever made for her, or put her mark on? that there would be no more crayon and carvings and explosions and color? no more arms made from her hands?
or was it because the arm was precious to here, and she couldn't let anything happen to it, couldn't risk it being damaged, because that was the last piece of her kid that she would ever get? she couldn't bring herself to wear it, because of all the possibilities for something to go wrong?
maybe it's both. maybe the pain is just all consuming. the fear and the worry and the denial all wrap up into one thick, suffocating feeling, that she doesn't know how to deal with. so she leaves the arm behind. she doesn't look at it, not when she can't risk breaking down. not when she can't spend a moment tracing her fingers over the carving and morning what she's lost without so much as a goodbye.
#do I know it's most logically because the arm is a weapon and she's a zaunite on the Piltover council. but let me have this.#several things can be true#and they robbed me of my lil found family. this is all I've got#sevika arcane#sevika#sevika and jinx#arcane spoilers#arcane season 2#arcane season two#arcane

I’m going to play Veilguard day one
I took days off work so I could play it the moment it drops
I’ve waited ten years (a literal 1/3 of my life) for this game and I’m gonna play it and even if it’s not my favorite I’m sure I’ll still enjoy it because BioWare, for all their faults, does manage to write characters and companions that draw you in
But I’m still going to be skeptical. I’m going to be critical, you can critique things you love.
I’d argue you should critique them
They’ve had 10 years to do this, it should be as close to flawless as humanly possible
And we’re allowed to be upset if it’s not
We’re allowed to hold space for disappointment and discussion and while I agree it’s best to wait for the entire game before deciding if it’s good or not.
Let people criticize what we have seen and had confirmed about the game.
Let people be skeptical and nervous and maybe even a little disappointed
It doesn’t mean we’re not still massive fans
#I can love and be disappointed at the same time#I’m still gonna play#inquisition is my least favorite of the franchise and I have thousands of hours logged#two things can be true#dragon age#dragon age origins#dragon age inquisition#dragon age 2#dragon age the veilguard#dragon age veilguard#da veilguard#datvg#davg

i'd like to address the allegations that Charles is a dummy for cutting about in a METAL wheelchair when his nemesis is MAGNETO. Yes, Erik can at any time yeet Charles around by the chair. He also knows that as soon as he touches the chair, he has lost. As soon as he even THINKS about grabbing the chair in anything but a life or death situation, he puts himself in timeout in the south pole.
charles may be a dummy for putting faith in magneto Not to be a menace and yet its the trust he has in erik not to do him harm despite how easy it'd be ..... power move if you think about it ....
#snap chats#charles drives me insane. wtf do you mean you fully trust erik not to fuck with your chair#BECAUSE HE LOVES HIM HE BELIEVES IN HIM HE TRUSTS HIM //throws up//#erik on the other hand ....... im gonna bang a ladle against his helmet while he wears it#i love the differing explanations for why erik wears his helmt and In Essence theyre all true#like 1.) he doesnt want charles in his head to potentially control him 2.) he doesnt want charles to hear his thoughts#3.) he has to block charles out of his head lest he only ever hear loving words and other of charles' sweet nothings#aka he has to keep out the gay thoughts I Fucking Hate This Helmet <- im deeply in love with this helmet#IN ANY CASE. erik loves charles but he doesnt trust him enough to be wholly vulnerable like charles can be#he doesnt want to keep the avenue of vulnerability open thatd be too much#some may argue 'snap most people dont want someone in their head just poking around'#ok not me. never me. so CLEARLY the point is now null and void#ok im done talking bye. erik's helmet drives me insane and i love the evolution of it#from it just being a design thing to actually having function to HAVE IN-DEPTH CHARACTER RELATIONS. fuck this helmet
