anyway: last thing about the fox.
I think the order in which the team reacts to frank fielding* hurting himself is pretty interesting.
Gideon and Morgan are first, simply because they're the ones closest.
Hotch and Elle are next, with Elle a little behind...
But when it comes to actually restraining Frank, Elle, who is still new and less experienced, lingers behind. If you watch the scene carefully, she actually backs away, too.
And finally, Reid stands at the very back. He enters the room but doesn't go any further, and the camera pans down to show him rocking back and forth on his feet, like he can't decide if he wants to run into or out of the room. I think it's possible that Diana self-harmed at some point in the past (although granted, the self-harm in this scene is a different "type") and he may have been having some unpleasant memories.
*the brother of one of the victims, who goes to her house despite her husband not wanting him there, is seen by her through the window, and thinks she mouths "go away" at him when she actually mouths "help me"
#ofc i there's an argument that they just didn't need five people to restrain one person#and elle and reid hung back for that reason#but to me#elle and reid being the ones to hang back feels intentional#and even if it isnt#analysis isnt really about if your argument is RIGHT#its about how well you can argue it#also: this is based on what we know about the characters#who knows? maybe if elle stuck around longer we would have found out she had a family member who she witnessed having very similar episodes#and that would have painted her reaction in a very different light#also this scene makes me sad. i wish we'd gotten an update on frank afterwards#esp because this hits home. to me this reads very similarly to an autistic meltdown and i have self harmed very similarly during mine#not sure how i feel about him being restrained for that reason but i get they didnt want him to hit himself#and it was 2005#tw self harm#character analysis#scene analysis#i suppose#criminal minds#criminal minds rewatch#criminal minds s01e07#the fox#elle greenaway#spencer reid#i know i mentioned other characters in this but i didnt really pick their fictional brains lol#favourites#criminal minds 1x7

Possessiveness
One thing people don't really speak about is the possessiveness growing between Carmy and Sydney. It's not at the forefront of their dynamics but it's there and I imagine it will grow in intensity.
They chose each other. Carmy chose Syd. She is the only person that he selected on the staff. Syd chose Carmy. She could have found a job at much better establishment than The Beef, but she didn't choose the restaurant, she chose him. By episode 1x2 Richie establishes Carmy as Syd's best friend. By episode three they are saying we. By episode 1x7 Tina establishes that Syd is Carmy's friend. Nobody else in the kitchen is acknowledged as a unit by the others. That same episode Carmy loses his shit when she leaves. He feels like she belongs there, with him. He feels betrayed. He thought they were a unit.
In season two we see them side by side, in sync, in unison, dressed alike, early on. Throughout the season we see Carmy interject when Marcus or Connor has her attention. We see Syd's obvious jealousy of Claire. But the two most intriguing things are Syd asking for his undivided attention and him demanding her presence. She doesn't want to share it, she doesn't want to share him. And when Carmy gets stuck in the fridge he cries out for her. They each feel entitled to have the other, when they want, in some capacity.
It's subtle but I think the possessiveness brewing is so delicious and hot and insane. I don't know where it's gonna go but I know it's going to manifest in big ways and I'm going to love it.
"You will be mine, all the time."

What’s your favorite cold open?
Which episode to you go back to the most?
Are there any songs that make you think of the show?
My favorite cold open isn't really a true cold open, as it transitions into the full episode after the theme song/intro plays, but it's the first few minutes of 1x13, Large Blade. The whole team badgering Jack about only bringing one zip-tie is funny enough, but then he does the high-pitched "I'm not the bad guy!" bit and it lives rent-free in my brain! (Runner-up goes to 1x7's "and a 100-meter daaaash.)
I go back to 2x12, Mac + Jack, the most, probably. There's just so much to love about that one and I love to rewatch it. If we're talking from a writing perspective, though, it's the infamous 5x5. My brain has just dissected that one and the little clues it leaves behind to the point I have a 4-part fic series I'm working on based on Jack not being dead. (Mine kinda bypasses seasons 4-5, though.)
As for songs, Live and Learn by Joe Public. It was in one of the episodes (can't remember which) and ever since, whenever I hear it, my mind automatically equates it with MacGyver.
Also, thank you for the ask! It's my first ever, so I hope I did it correctly!!

Copper Stranded Wire Rope: A Comprehensive Guide
A flexible and necessary component, copper stranded wire rope is used in a variety of applications. It is essentially a flexible rope made of several individually wrapped copper wires. Its history goes back centuries, when marine applications and shipbuilding were its main uses. But as technology has developed over time, its use has risen, and it is now an essential part of many different industries, including mining, aviation, and telecommunications. Due to its distinctive qualities, which include high strength, flexibility, and corrosion resistance, it is a crucial part of numerous applications. In conclusion, copper stranded wire rope flexible has advanced much from its early days in marine applications, and its present applications and utility are still growing.
Types of Copper Stranded Wire Rope
There are a few things to think about when it comes to different varieties of copper stranded wire rope. The flexibility and strength of the rope might be impacted by varied configurations, to start. The 1x7, 7x7, and 7x19 are some layouts that are well-liked. The wire's coating may also affect how long it lasts and how well it resists corrosion. Nylon, polyurethane, and PVC are some examples of typical coatings. Your unique application and the environment it will be subjected to will ultimately determine the sort of it you choose. But don't worry, you'll discover the perfect suit for your needs among the various possibilities accessible.
Advantages of Copper Stranded Wire Rope
When it comes to Copper Stranded Wire Rope, there are several advantages that make it a popular choice across industries. First and foremost, copper stranded wire rope flexible is incredibly strong and able to withstand heavy loads without breaking or degrading over time. This makes it ideal for use in applications where strength is a must-have.
Another major benefit of copper stranded wire rope is its flexibility. Unlike other materials, copper stranded wire rope can bend and twist without losing strength or durability. This flexibility makes it an ideal choice for applications where the rope needs to move or adjust frequently.
In addition to strength and flexibility, it is also highly resistant to corrosion. Even when exposed to harsh environments and corrosive substances, it will hold up well and maintain its structural integrity.
Lastly, it is durable and built to last. When properly maintained, it can withstand years of use without breaking down or deteriorating in performance.
Overall, these advantages make it a strong and reliable choice for a variety of industries and applications.
Disadvantages of Copper Stranded Wire Rope
Let's face it, nothing is perfect in this world, and the same goes for copper stranded wire rope. One of the major disadvantages of copper stranded wire rope is its cost. It's not cheap, and rightly so, given its high strength, flexibility, and corrosion-resistant properties. The other disadvantage is its limited use in electrical applications. Copper is a great conductor of electricity, but in certain cases, it may not be the best choice. And lastly, it may not be the lightest option out there, which could be an issue for some applications. But hey, every material has its pros and cons, and the same goes for copper stranded wire rope.

"That's not Claudia's and Louis's perspectives, that's your perspective."
I literally posted TWO gifs of Claudia literally saying her perspective was that Lestat's actions towards her--AND Louis--made her feel like they were his slaves--which she ALSO says in the book! (and which is EXACTLY what Louis said Lestat made him feel like in 1x3 before Claudia was even there!)--and you're saying that's NOT their perspectives but mine? XD And that this show & Lestat's dynamics with his 2 Black fledgings isn't about race? Wow. (This is PRECISELY why I used a variety of source, SPECIFICALLY so nonsense like this isn't allowed to fly over the radar to gaslight or rewrite the narrative when we all watched the same frikkin show yet you're telling me these scenes don't effing matter or didn't frikkin happen.)
"Lestat treats her terribly but Louis is as responsible for Claudia's turning and being stuck in that house as Lestat is and she ignores that."
NO she does not ignore it--she read Louis for filth in 1x5 right before she left about him not taking her to a hospital. She asks Louis over & over & over to get the train with her in 1x6; and Daniel says in 1x7 that Claudia's diaries said she "hated your guts;" and even in S2 she's PISSED that Louis "picked another one, OVER ME!" She NEVER ignores Louis' culpability; what on earth are you talking about???
"He tells him tell me if you don't love me and I'll go away and Louis doesn't. He knew he'd ultimately take Lestat back at some point and Lestat realizes too so he keeps trying and succeeds after 7 years."
And HOW did Lestat succeed? With ANOTHER love-bomb in the "Come To Me" record, which he got HIS MISTRESS ANTOINETTE to sing to Louis--you're telling me that wasn't EXPLICIT manipulation!?
Also! Just cuz Louis loves Lestat & wants to be with him doesn't mean he's not having his pigtails pulled & his emotions manipulated--getting "a rise" out of him. He's well aware that he's having his chain yanked, and he's pissed about it "I hate you," cuz he KNOWS Lestat's no effing good & doesn't deserve him. Louis has TRASH taste in men--that doesn't stop them from being trash. XD
"That doesn't mean Armand was constatly manipulating Louis's memory. We never see that."
I LITERALLY said "god knows how many false memories planted in Lou's head that Armand used to shape Louis into the perfect compliant stepford spouse;" where "god knows how many" specifically addresses the fact that yeah, we DON'T know how much Armand effed up Louis' memories--only heaven & hell knows! And that's insidious AF--it makes the horror so much worse, cuz now Louis will NEVER know how much his agency/autonomy was VIOLATED, what to believe and what to doubt--"where does the bullsh!t start Armand, Amadeo, Arun?" Esp. when Louis seems to be mad at Armand in one scene/ep and then strangely back to being happy in the next. The show deliberately leaves it openly ambiguous wtf was going on--the only way we'll know more is if they do a TVA, where Armand finally admits to more shady things he did behind Lou's back--like the Frankenstein operation on book!Claudia; or if they pull a Merrick and have ghost!Claudia say more.
"Louis didn't actually need Daniel to point out he saw Sam in two places and Armand was far stronger than the coven."
YES he did--he even excused the discrepancy, saying he must've misremembered, cuz he doesn't trust his own memory anymore; "I just got it wrong."
"He never really interrogated Armand's lie because he'd rather go with his version and not be alone and to spite Lestat."
I've already discussed Louis' hesitancy to interrogate Armand & Lestat's lies (x x), cuz it's waaaaay more than that. The whole point of his insistence that Daniel continue the interview despite Armand's constant interventions was wanting to finally get to the bottom of "Truth & Reconciliation;" "I want this, to remember!" Louis wasn't thinking about spiting Lestat when asked Armand about Banishment--he wanted to know how the heck he managed to survive, cuz SOMEONE obviously made the audience say that and it sure AF wasn't Santiago. XD Even if he thought Lestat had done it, Lestat blew his chance to set the record straight in the Tower Scene, cuz Loustat BOTH assumed that Armand really did want Louis to live. Armand was more scared to be alone than Louis. Louis even said in 2x3 that he was gonna leave & find some place small & uncrowded, specifically to be ALONE & AWAY from vamps! "I was thinking London. If it's too large, maybe Dublin." But yet I--EYE!--am the one always reading characters in bad faith? Ok, y'all. XD
"Louis knew Armand had chosen the coven. He knew he was complicit in his daughter's murder. Armand didn't lie about that. He only lied about saving him and it was a circumstantial lie."
That's not a circumstantial lie at all. Louis asked Armand POINT BLANK, and Armand took the credit specifically to manipulate Louis--cuz Armand DID pull him out of the wall (a MONTH+ later)--lies mixed with truths are most convincing!
EVERYTHING Louis chose/decided afterwards ("do not find yourself at the theater tomorrow night at curfew; this is your death Lestat") hinged on that ONE "seismic lie:" that Armand said "Banishment," not Lestat. Louis was deceived into accepting that despite Armand's betrayal, selling them out to the coven, that Armand realized his mistake and was actively tryna get Louis (& Claudia) out safely (x x x). Cuz that was THE most commendable thing that happened; Lestat saved Louis' life (again). But Armand stole that from them, just like he stole "Tell him I love him, Armand." He's a effing snake. But here you are, blaming Louis for Armand's treachery & making excuses for yet another abuser.
"You're mixing and matching events as some sort of proof. I'm not going to waste time to prove to you otherwise."
If you call analyzing CONTEXTUAL EVIDENCE from the show itself AND its showrunner as "mixing and matching events," just cuz I can walk and chew gum at the same time? Sure, I guess. XD But fine, don't take my word for it. Nalyra just posted this ask today, wrt whose interpretations of the show we should trust the most:
So AGAIN, when Sam Reid himself says Lestat was lovebombing (ie: manipulating/controlling) Louis in 1x6 with all his gifts & apologies, stop saying we're reading into these characters in bad faith or coming up with our own interpretations or perspectives, just cuz we can be critical and choose not to only focus on the positives, but also acknowledge the effed up negatives in this show about "domestic abuse, gaslighting and love-bombing" in an interracial relationship.
For all of his shortcomings, Lestat loved Louis as he was.
Even at their worst, as the books took Louis away from Lestat--the same way books had taken his mother--Lestat never took the books from Louis.
And in an effort for forgiveness, Lestat looked to gift Louis a precious tome from his favorite bookstore.
Yet Armand always kept them out of reach for fear that something else might capture Louis.
