@12.30 Eldridge The synagogue tour was fun and informative, the tour guide  shared particularly interesting trivia about the history, origin and renovation of the synagogue.... including the floor boards that were undulated  due to the constant weight of the people in the synagogue , the anecdote regarding the curtain rods in for the upper floor segregated for women is also funny... the prints on the ground floor, the kiki smith designed  blue glass window with stars... the videos from the early 19oos...and  the pics from restorations. 

It was one if those rare curated tours of a religious place that draw complete attention of the participants ... was almost like a cultural history tour, appreciated it...

Since I had time before the next activity, i wandered around  synagogue. It was surrounded by eastasian shops and eateries... i bought dried rice cakes and mochi...and very reasonablely priced 

The candid conversation about racism scheduled in the evening again did not materialised...

Le Petit Palais

L'Exposition Universelle de 1900 transforma un quartier complet de l'ouest parisien, après la démolition du monumental Palais de l'Industrie, sis entre la Seine et les Champs-Elysées depuis l'exposition de 1855. A son emplacement furent construits deux palais (non moins monumentaux), prenant pour l'un le nom de Grand et pour l'autre celui de Petit.

Petit, il l'est certes en comparaison du Grand, mais présente tout de même de bien belles proportions, occupant une surface au sol de plus de 5000m2, incluant un jardin intérieur semi-circulaire, d'une superficie très respectable de 500m2. Edifié par l'architecte Charles Girault, dans un style éclectique (entre baroque, rocaille et néo-classique), il représente la volonté de la IIIème République d’assimilation des arts et de réunion des périodes historiques. Très lumineux, ses espaces intérieurs sont éclairés majoritairement par la lumière naturelle (entre verrières, coupoles transparentes et larges baies vitrées), permettant au visiteur d'apprécier avec plus de naturel les oeuvres exposées. Il abrite en effet le Musée des Beaux-Arts de la ville de Paris, riche d'une collection permanente agrémentée d'oeuvres allant de l'Antiquité à la fin du XIXème siècle, au rang desquelles des peintures de Rembrandt, Rubens, Fragonard, Courbet, Renoir, Degas, Toulouse-Lautrec, des sculptures de Carpeaux, Dalou, Puget, Rodin, ainsi que de nombreuses estampes, photographies, objets d'art et artefacts archéologiques. Le Musée, totalement rénové et repensé pour l'accueil des publics de 2001 à 2005, fait partie depuis 2013 de l'établissement Paris-Musées. De nombreuses expositions temporaires très fréquentées y furent organisées au fil des décennies, dont celle sur les Trésors de Toutankhamon, organisée par l'égyptologue Christiane Desroches-Noblecourt en 1967. Elle fascina le président Charles de Gaulle ainsi que plus d’1,2 millions de visiteurs en 6 mois, faisant d'elle l'exposition la plus visitée de l'histoire en France. Elle ne fut détrônée qu'en 2019, cette fois-ci à la Grande Halle de Villette, par une nouvelle exposition sur... Toutankhamon.

Surmonté d'un haut dôme, le porche d'entrée monumental présente de part et d'autre des colonnes ioniennes aux chapiteaux fleuris, soutenant un tympan accueillant un haut-relief Art Nouveau. Un escalier d'ambassadeur mène à un portail en bronze doré digne d'un palais de conte de fées.

•••🌟a question of redesign. having become really fond of art-nouveau/deco culture, discovering the wonderful chi-town font really made a design change. this is the new header for my tumblr, based on my favourite colours and on a favourite album of mine, metro music by martha and the muffins. its toronto map background is, in fact (my adored) peter saville's pick for the album sleeve, then magistrally worked by his clever technique. thanks to the chi-town I was able to recreate the word lines on the colourblocks that were a key in futurist art, melting together at least 3o years of designer art and technique, 19oo - 193o ca. this toronto map has been edited with layers and layers of filtering edits and negatives - and its aesthetic nicely matches the muffins' song monotone. but the song off metro music that is actually the match made in heaven with the map/city aesthetic is terminal twilight. you can feel all sorts of city noises in that piece of urban life - from cars screeching to crowds flowing in the streets - without hearing them. the compelling synths and the hypnotic vocals run on the bassline highway in a catching auditive narration of daily city life as hearing catches it. and listening to this song you get how used you've grown to those sounds, how many you know - and most of all you know how well you're now ignoring most of them. September: Bi-Visibility "Der Tag der Bisexualität wurde im Jahr 1999 von den US-amerikanischen Bürgerrechtler*innen Wendy Curry, Michael Page und Gigi Raven Wilbur, ins Leben gerufen. Dieser Tag soll darauf aufmerksam machen, dass Bisexualität neben Hetero- und Homosexualität eine eigenständige sexuelle Orientierung ist. Des weiteren soll am Tag der Bisexualität auf die Vorurteile und Reaktionen von der heterosexuellen Gesellschaft so wie der LGBT*-Community gegenüber bisexuellen Personen hingewiesenen werden. Bi in Franken und die Bi Gruppe vom queeren Zentrum Fliederlich, laden zu einer Kundgebung  am 23. September 2022 um 19:00 Uhr auf den Magnus Hirschfeld Platz in Nürnberg ein.

Die bisexuelle Flagge besteht aus drei Farben: - Pink (oben) steht für gleichgeschlechtliche Orientierung, - Blau (unten) für gegengeschlechtliche Orientierung, - Lila (Mitte), als Ergebnis der Mischung von Blau und Pink, steht für Bisexualität."
