Is she Pam?
Hi everybody, these screencaps were shared to us by "La Simo", she was asking if the girl was Pam, we really don't know, so we ask you!! She didn't gave us any video information, but these screencaps seem to he from a video from Summer 1968 by looking at Jim's short hair...
Plus...
"La Simo" shared this screencap from this video: "Pam I am" in these video it is shown a film Jim made with some of his friends called "HWY: An American Pastoral" and shoot between Spring and Summer 1969. The film crew were Mr. Ferrara, along with Frank Lisciandro and Babe Hill... (all men), so is she Pam? at our fb page for Pam we were told that she could be her, some other people say it's not her but just a passing-by driver...
We could make some screencaps from it, here they go:
We know not every red-haired woman from the 60s is Pam nor Jane, but in this case we have doubts, what do you think?

1969 mid-century modern time capsule in Malibu, California is pretty pricey. 3bds, 3ba, $9.8M.
The entrance was amazing in its day- look at the colored glass panes, lime green shag carpeting on the spiral stairs, artsy door.
The house is open, as MCMs usually are. The area that is the dining space fits a large table with 10 upholstered chairs.
Two steps down is a small sunken living room with a wall of built-ins and original shag carpet.
Off the entrance is a narrow galley kitchen with very nice marble counters and updated appliances. I know it's in Malibu and on the ocean, but I'm just not seeing $9.8M.
There is also a family room. I'm surprised that the furniture doesn't come with the house b/c it's original and looks very lived-in.
The primary bedroom faces the ocean and has what looks like laminate walls. Looks like this green carpet goes thru the whole house. Is that an old water bed?
Oh, my, that carpet is in the bathroom, too.
Bedroom #2 has palm wallpaper and there are built-in cabinets under the window. They wallpapered them, but you can see the handles.
This bath has nice wallpaper.
Is it me, or do the wealthy always seem to have bunk bed rooms. They must be for multiple guests.
Long deck and a terrace above is right on the beach.
It seems like it's much too close.
Stairs to the beach.
Their isn't a pool b/c the lot isn't that big, and the ocean is right there, but it does have a hot tub.
Here are some shots of the house lit up at night. It looks so worn, so maybe it looks better in dim light.
The house just looks like they never changed the original wallpaper or carpet and it really needs a refresh.
The kitchen really is tight for a $9.8M house.
The lighting is nice, though.

Cal-Neva Motel & Cupid Wedding Chapel, November 1969
1519 Las Vegas Blvd South.
In the early 30s, one of the first things motorists driving Hwy 91 from So Cal to Las Vegas would encounter was the Cal-Neva Auto Court, built at the far southern edge of Las Vegas’ newest incorporated area called Boulder Addition. Cal-Neva was named after the famous resort in Lake Tahoe at a time when Las Vegas was barely on the map.
By 1969 the court – now “motel” – was one of the oldest in a city full of new things. The main business was the wedding chapel which opened in the old motel lobby in the 50s. The motel closed around the time of these photos, but the chapel managed to hold on all the way to ‘91. It was demolished and became the parking lot of what is now Peppermint Hippo.

Then and Now: 1969 and 2023.
The Otis Lonon Store and Post Office was located near the railroad underpass on Hwy 221 North in McDowell County, North Carolina in the Ashford-North Cove community.
Clarence W. Wiseman built this store building in 1927. The main, central part of the building held Wiseman's General Store, which carried a wide array of items and served as a local polling place during elections. The northern end of the building originally held the Ashford Post Office. A separate corn mill building, no longer standing, stood to the store's rear.
During World II, the store was run by Mac Lonon. After the war, Otis Lonon took over its operation. He ran the store until its closing in 1971.
Once the hallmark of many small communities, the old general store was more than just a store, it was a gathering place. If you close your eyes you can almost hear the conversations and the laughter that people once had here. It was once so important to the community.
My Granny, Mildred Wiseman Carpenter, was once the post master here for a time.

“In 1969, Jim Morrison made a film called HWY: AN AMERICAN PASTORAL. The opening shot of the movie sees a stretch of asphalt unspool with the credits painted onto it before the camera eventually arcs towards the bruised sky of a moody desert dusk where the desolate moon hangs like a milk bottle top on a washing line awaiting the hissing company of the night.”

Ontario Cold Cases - The Podcast: Upcoming Episode! Jacqueline English
Answers were hard to come by, especially in the case of Jackie English, the 15-year-old waitress at the Metropolitan store at the Treasure Island Mall on London’s outskirts.
She left work at the store’s lunch counter about 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, 1969 and was last seen alive getting into a maroon-coloured car at the mid-point of the Wellington Rd. bridge that spans the Hwy 401.
Five days later, her naked, sexually assaulted body was found by duck hunters in Big Otter Creek near Tillsonburg. She was killed by a blow to the head.

Our Local Tamassee-Salem SC Area News each Monday except holidays Contact: [email protected] Distributed to local businesses, town hall, library. Volume 7 Issue 12 Week of March 4, 2024 https://www.tumblr.com/settings/blog/oldsalempost-blog Lynne Martin Publishing
EDITOR: Remember the 1970 Keep America Beautiful commercial with a polluted river filled with debris amongst a background of buildings and billowing smoke from industry along the shore? The commercial ends with a Native American standing with a tear rolling down his face. We have been fighting pollution for years, yet no one thinks they are polluting when they sell off family property to be developed into industry. No one thinks pollution is a cigarette butt, bottles, cans, or fast food left-overs tossed carelessly out the car window or at the entrance to a building. No one thinks of the foul words that fly out of the mouth in public as pollution. No one considers pollution when they mount glaring lights around their house in a rural area where once held a view of the celestial night skies. The commercial ends with “ People start pollution. People can stop it.” LRM

ASHTON RECALLS: SALEM'S BASKETBALL TEAMS BOTH ADVANCED TO DISTRICT FINALS IN 1954 - (The following story was in the February 24, 1954 Keowee Courier). . .Little Betty Lee Towe, peppery captain of Salem High's girls' basketball team, captured plenty of honors over the past week even though her team lost a heart-breaking two-point, 32-30, decision to White Plains after battling through the Class C tournament at Pelzer to reach the finals. . .So great was the impression she made, however, that she was selected most valuable player among Class C girls and was chosen to the all-tournament team in that classification. . .Salem's boys also scrapped their way to the finals only to lose a 47-42 thriller to Dixie after leading most of the way. The Golden Eagles were handicapped greatly by an ankle injury sustained in the semi-finals game by Max Nicholson. . Despite the injury, Nicholson was named to the Class C boys' all-tournament team, as was his teammate Gerald Townes. . .Howard Abercrombie was the team captain. by Ashton Hester

EAGLE ALUMNI GATHERING- On March 2 from 2pm-5pm there was a huge return from all classes from the Salem, Tamassee-Salem, and Eagle Ridge charter school alumni. Two former teachers Robert Griffin and Horace Dyer were welcomed by all. “Mr. Griffin” as know to all taught from 1969-1973 and said he loves Salem so much he moved back here when he retired. He lives on Lake Keowee in Salem. “We are all Eagles,” stated Russ Price, former TS alumnus. A T-Shirt was created from his Eagle Spirit inspiration and is for sale to benefit the Eagles Nest Art Center. The T-Shirt also has an Eagle print from the mural still present in the auditorium by artist Gale McKinney. Held at the Eagles Nest Art Center and hosted by many alumni volunteers, Susan Hopkins and Judy Hines were pleased with the multi-generational turnout. Teresa Barker, Carol Queen, Ginger Porter helped serve delicious foods donated by the alumni. Tours of the working facility warmed the faces of all as they recalled where they stood in line for lunch, sat on the sidewalks for breaks, and walked the halls that held memories of youth. The graduating class of 1972 had 9 classmates in attendance, many of them celebrating they are turning 70 this year. The gymnasium is still a revered beauty enjoyed by our youth and adults through the Salem Recreational Department. Eagles Nest Art Center is a 501c3 nonprofit and owns the former 13 acres of Tamassee-Salem school property. ENAC is governed by a small board of volunteer directors. “Once an Eagle always an Eagle” is another famous quote on a T-Shirt shared by kindred spirits. The gathering area also displayed a mural recently repaired by Fred Edgar, retired art teacher with SDOC, funded from the Bill Hines Memorial funds. All donations from the gathering go directly to ENAC. ENAC has a mission to provide a venue for education, arts, performances for all ages communities and regional areas. ENAC welcomes volunteers who share in our mission.

From a Kindred Spirit Reader: I fully agree with your opposition to the "growth for the sake of growth" philosophy. There should continue to be cities for people who like city life and rural areas for more laid-back people.

Grand Junction, CO
Grand Junction, CO, is known to be a place with nice weather. May to July and August to October are the months with the best weather. So, if you’re planning to take a vacation, go in any of these months. It’s also very safe to travel in Grand Junction, and although the prices for hotel accommodation and fare rise on these months I mentioned, it’s still nothing compared to the high price in another big city like Dallas and New York. The low cost, beautiful outdoor, and the weather are among the things that make Grand Junction a scenic destination.

Gary D. Chism
Eckert resident, Gary D. Chism, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 28, 2020 at his residence. He was 71 years of age. A graveside service will be held 12:00 pm, (noon) Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Cory Cemetery in Cory, Colorado. Gary was born on January 18, 1949 to Donald R. and Florence E. (Stewart) Chism in Delta, Colorado. He spent his childhood in Rangely, Colorado where he graduated from Rangely High School. On March 7, 1969, Gary married the love of his life, Connie A. Wray in Carlsbad, New Mexico. To this union three sons were born. The couple had the honor of sharing 47 years of love and marriage before Connie’s passing in 2016. Read more here.
The passing of a person is one of the saddest events for the family members, coworkers, and friends. From today’s High-Country Shopper obituary, Gary D. Chism passed away on November 28, 2020, at 71. He was born on January 18, 1949, a resident of Eckert. For his friends who want to know the details, arrangements were under Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory. A graveside service is to be held at noon on December 04, 2020, at the Cory Cemetery in Cory, Colorado. Gary was the pastor of the Apostolic Church in Eckert – a church he built from the ground up.
Mount Garfield in Grand Junction, CO
The Mount Garfield in Grand Junction, CO, is a 6.1 km trail located just near the Palisade. It’s heavily trafficked since many locals and tourists go here to enjoy the trail. The trail is mainly used for hiking and mostly from April to October are the best months to enjoy. You can also take your dogs if you want to because the dogs can also use the trail but should be kept unleash. I like Mount Garfield in Grand Junction, CO, because it offers a magnificent view. It’s worth the trail! I hope to be back on Mount Garfield to enjoy the trail more.
