I am JUST like Odysseus
#wasn’t paying attention and got on the wrong bus leaving campus#but was too absorbed in an article I was reading to realize this until we passed under the freeway#so I got off and ended up walking a mile back from there to one of my usual bus routes#barely missed that bus and had to wait 10 minutes for the next one#but traffic was so backed up b/c it’s la at rush hour that I got off the bus 2 stops before my actual stop#and walked the rest of the way. decision to do so was validated by the fact that as I reached my apartment building the bus I got off of#was still stuck in traffic behind me#also amusingly not 15 minutes before I left campus I was chatting with a friend in the program who lives very close to me#and he was like ‘lately I’ve been walking to and from campus’ and I was like ‘isn’t that a very long walk?’#and his response was ‘yeah but the exercise is nice and at rush hour it’s not much slower than the bus’#just demonstrated that for myself lmao

fun fact once youve worked at a daycare/preschool the instincts it gives you never leave. i hear a baby crying and my brain muscle memories me into standing up until i can stop and remind myself that most people understandably do not want a stranger to walk over and pick up and soothe their infant. not my job anymore.
#one time like 15 mins after a 8 hr shift i was in my fav clothing store and a baby an aisle over began to sob and i walked over#and just stood beside the pram and stared at the baby while the cogs turned in my brain and the mother was like ''????'' until i went#''i worked at a early childhood center for 8 hours today im so sorry'' and she was like '' OH LMAO its fine hes been fussy all day#i'd apprecaite any help'' and so i just stood there and talked to the baby for 5 minutes#and the shock of having a new face hovering over him exercising his legs made him stop crying and stare#similarly i spent 30 minutes playing with a 8 month old exercising his arms and legs and tickling his tummy and talking#while his poor exhausted mother who was trying to fill out citizenship forms at the library got a moments peace#she vented that she'd just moved over with her husband and he was working all the time so it was just her and bubs here#in this strange new country. and thats a lot for a new mum not having extra family around to help. i remember she asked if i would be up#to babysit for pay and i reffered her to one of my old coworkers i really hope she found someone#that baby was so cute but SO LOUD he was VERY active for his age lots of kicking and squirming and endless energy#little mans is going to be a terror when he reaches his twos

#animaniacs#meme#stretching#body maintenence#millenials#yakko warner#jokes aside#body maintenance is really important#me and my partner have made a concerted effort to start taking better care of ourselves this year#we're not trying to get skinny or get swole or anything related to appearance#we've watched our parents go through so many struggles with loss of mobility and other age related health issues#it really made us see that you only get one body and you can't take your health for granted#we started exercising regularly#exercise has so many benefits beyond how you look#I don't think my appearance has even changed much but I feel more capable#I have more stamina my back pain and joint stiffness is nearly gone and I'm much more flexible#I think 30 minutes of stretching is a bit much for most people but we do at least 10 minutes after each workout#every other day we tell each other how grateful we are that we're taking better care of ourselves#we feel so much better and doing anything is at least 15% easier#I just don't want aging to be painful#I don't necessarily like exercising but a good pair of headphones with music and audiobooks and youtube can make a world of difference#I never thought I'd be a gym rat but here we are#bodies are meant to move#also why are we like the only people at the gym to ever take time to stretch?#do other people lift weights and then just put up with being sore?#I'd rather not feel sore after exercising#plus stretching is a great way to cool down and improve your flexibility#health over thinness

#just mentally ill things#just chronically ill things#its nice that ive finally figured out what types of exercise i can handle best with my orthostatic issues (rowing machine!)#and I was really encouraged by a post where someone said they just started rowing for 3 minutes and then added 15-30 seconds every time#like fr life changing to realize that i can just do something for a few mins. i started at 2m30s and im up to 5m now

i wish i was one of those people who enjoyed exercising in literally ANY form i'm so desperate but my audhd ass gets overwhelmed and disregulated by fucking EVERYTHING

Sometimes the thing that helps is actually physical exercise and that fucking sucks. How is my body able to make my lungs breath and my heart beats all right but I don't naturally have enough core strength to stay upright for ten minutes ?
#i do work sitting all day and spend a lot of time in. ed.#in bed*#but.#!!!#I walk a bit !#i have at least thirty minutes of fast walking to and from the train station everyday#+ the other walking I do in a day#anyway I'm mad#cause my legs don't hold me up and I need to exercise to build muscles around my knees and it'll help apparently#but I need an indoor bike etc#which is expensive and takes a lot of place !!#the problems are : i don't have enough patience or reasons to excersice everyday#the adhd can not#but how tf do I find a coach that can adapt to me#i went to zen gym class for some times and it helped but I can't hold up my arms for 15 seconds yall#bref.#just another disabled person renting#fibromyalgia#disability#patellar syndrome#chronic pain

This is the bullshit about starting work again, I come home and continue with rubbish like planning plot processes and prioritisation matrixes and production programs and the like, instead of, you know, writing.
#managing the production vs actually “being the producer” brain#its such a different way of thinking I haven't worked out my 'snap brain into that different kind of creative mode again'#The reason I can be satisfied at my job is that I approach all that stuff *as* creative exercises; I create the clarity that does not exist#People blab for 30mins about problems and I doodle on a whiteboard and then they slow down and realise I've drawn their solution map#I *could* have been a consulting business analyst for the requirements definition stuff but detest the software/technologies rigidity part#What I really need is some 15 minute major physical/mental/formic break between work and home to switch brain modes#I do have a 20min powerwalk in there but then I have to do the kid/house so the endorphin benefit towards creative enterprise wears off
