hello!! about your post the other day on how people think bkdk is just another sns, do you happen to have the source for âhorikoshi dislikes the ending of narutoâ? its such an integral part of my bkdk worldview and why im so convinced theyre gonna be canon, but i cant for the life of me figure out where horikoshi mentioned that đ
This is the link of a transcription of the twitter thread! This was from the middle of 2015, even before Katsuki got kidnapped and wasn't super clear whether he would stay in the hero or villain, so I think we need to keep it in mind when reading about this too.
To give more perspective, a reminder of what happened in that time: Bakugou vs Deku 1 happened in January, and this interview probably happened when the sports festival was starting (as we see it goes until August/September)... A year later we get Katsuki's origin chapter, two years later the second Kacchan vs Deku fight after the kidnapping and rescuing, and six years later we get the apology.
(Interview under the cut, the parts where this is discussed)
The interviewer asks what Horikoshi thought of Naruto and Sasuke's rivalry, and Horikoshi says it was frustrating. Horikoshi says he really liked the "Valley of the End" and thought that would be the end of the series. - Kishimoto notes a lot of readers though Naruto and Sasuke would make up after the Valley of the End and go back to the village together. But he made them fight. - Horikoshi continues that all the misunderstandings during the second part were frustrating to watch and when it all came together in the final fight he almost felt like a parent watching these characters he had grown up with, and he was rooting for them both. - Kishimoto says he's happy to hear that, he wanted people to be able to understand both Naruto and Sasuke's feelings. Horikoshi notes it was really emotional, built up over 15 years. - Kishimoto notes he likes Bakugo as a rival and found it funny how he's an ally almost like a villain, telling the main character "die". He thinks Horikoshi did a good job since you don't know if Bakugo will stay an ally or become an enemy. - Horikoshi notes Bakugo is horrible, but thought it would be more interesting that way. He says he wants him to be like Vegeta from Dragon Ball but doesn't know how it'll play out from here. Kishimoto says he thinks it'll be interesting whichever direction Bakugo goes.
I think this last comment is kind of a reference to what he planned for prototype Katsuki Gougou -he was a really nice guy who would insult ppl accidentally and be loud during fights, but he found it annoying. He probably thought and took inspiration from V*geta in order to craft a rude personality for the beginning, and as we know it wasn't clear whether he would even ever support Izuku in the first place or stay as an obstacle to surpass.
I dont believe we are reading into things when thinking Katsuki has become way more than another V*geta, and that his relationship with Izuku doesn't resemble the one he has with G*ku, as far as I know -cmon he is literally crying over feeling like he lost his chance to be by deku's side forever, while not caring about his own arm or possibility of not being a hero, I dont know about DBZ but I dont think something similar happened lol.
When we say he doesnt like it, its because he clearly states very bold declarations in front of the author -who is basically a sensei, a superior role than his and who he should always respect the most. So being critical about it makes it even more clear how much he truly disliked it -he was tired of the misunderstandings and hoped they would just go back together to the village. So, to say the least, he never really truly enjoyed the idea of a rivalry where the characters are so important to each other, but end up fighting for more unnecessary misunderstandings.
We can see how he took notes from the whole everyone coming together for the fight, and he likes that emotional aspect -also making tribute to DBZ with everyone cheering for the hero just like many ppl did irl. We'll have to see what happens, but I believe we'll see more of Katsuki and the reasons why he was able to survive this long and see vestige All Might

Woodstock.
Woodstock, the most famous of the 1960s rock festivals, held on a farm property in Bethel, New York, August 15â18, 1969, at the end of the hippie movement. The hippie flower child look from the late 1960's carried over into the first half of the 1970's, in a non-restrictive bohemian silhouette with a heavy folksy influence. Arts and crafts had a huge impact on fashion during this time including tie-dye, batik, knitwear, crochet and macrame.
1970s Gunne Sax dresses.
Gunne Sax's aesthetic has been described as feminine, nostalgic, Victorian, old world and romantic. Though the brand is now closely associated with formal and bridal wear, its origins date back to late '60s San Francisco.  In 1969, San Francisco boutique Gunne Sax needed a house designer. Enter Jessica McClintock, an elementary school teacher with a life-long interest in fashion. When a friend told McClintock of the opening at Gunne Sax, she applied immediately. McClintock was hired despite her lack of formal training in fashion design or clothing manufacture. Herself and designer Laura Ashley popularized the prairie dress phenomenon.
Sometimes referred to as Granny or prairie dresses, a typical Gunne Sax dress of the early 1970s featured a banded Empire waist and a long maxi-skirt. Lace trim, high collars and long sleeves evoked an amalgam of past eras and created an overall impression of demure femininity.
Vogue Italia March 1970.
Twiggy for Vogue 1970
Thea Porter, Godmother of Bohemian Cheque.
Thea Porter, who is credited with bringing the bohemian look to London catwalks. Although Thea Porter is not as famous a name as Mary Quant or Laura Ashley, her influence on the look of her era is just as potent. Her loose, draped shapes and fabrics helped create the style of stars such as Faye Dunaway and Elizabeth Taylor in the 1970s, and they have since become forever entangled with the idea of rock-star self-indulgence. She celebrated ethnic styles in Indian style prints, free flowing breezy gauzy tent dresses and wide legged pants.
Porter's seven signature looks: the Abaya & Kaftan; the Gipsy dress; the Fraye dress; the Brocade-panel dress; the Wrap-over dress; the Chazara jacket, and the Sirwal skirt, as well as important fashion photography from the pages of Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Women's Wear.
Changing skirt sizes.
This was the year of the changing hemline. There is no longer one length for one woman, but a whole wardrobe of lengths from which to choose. Mini, regular, midi and maxi length. Both emerald and bottle green were popular colours of the 1970s along with rust, wine red, purple, orange, and brown.
Tom Wolfe called the 1970s the "me decade" Across the land, Americans seemed determined to escape from the wars and social movements of the previous decade. Disillusionment with national and global action led many to look inward and find solace in discovering more about themselves. Women demanded respect as equal partners, and began to emerge into the work place. As women asserted themselves economically, socially, and politically, the idea of remaining trapped in an unhappy marriage became less and less appealing. Consequently, the divorce rate soared. An 1974 book entitled the courage to divorce  encouraged individuals to put their own happiness above that of their spouses and children.
Every rule of fashion was shattered in the 1970s. Lapels, ties, and collars, reached record widths. The polyester leisure suit, available in a palette of citrus and pastel colors, was extremely popular among young males. The jacket, pants, and vest were often worn with an open collar to display thick necklace chains nestled in exposed chest hair. A senses of masculine style emerged in the film 'Annie Hall' which created a sensation with Diane Keaton wearing a fitted vest with a collard white shirt and men's neckties.

The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology first listen đ§đŞťâ¨
More than 15 years later wow it still feels so magical to listen to a brand new album. The joy, the excitement, the nervousness. I mark chapters of my life with her albums, they always seem to arrive with perfect timing. Is it fate or delusion? Probably the later, obviously she has no idea who I am. Idk it feels nice to delude myself now and again that weâre all journeying through this time together in some connectedness (is that a word?). It feels sort of nostalgic in some ways, from being just a child to now an adult, itâs like Sesame Street that grows up with you. Not a great analogy but what I mean to say is it holds a special place to me.
This album, this anthology feels much like weâve been handed her diary, filled with sticky notes bound together, itâs so raw but so expertly crafted, messy feelings but the penmanship is exquisite. From her debut album, itâs always been poetry. She transports you to her world. What a journey, what a joy, what a gift.
I like to capture my first thoughts of each song in my silly chicken scratching written notes. Most of it makes no sense. It feels like a nice silly tradition and itâs fun to look back on. So here goes:
Fortnight
- Itâs giving moody 1989??? Excuse me miss?!!! Ohhh she knows. Preach bye time to cry
The tortured poets department
- Ooooh weâre in an 80s dreamscape. Yes yes yes. Whoâs gonna love you but me? A fluffy dreamland Patty smith? Insert wait I understood the reference meme. Ooooh itâs lovely. I am sad
My boy only breaks his favourite toys
- excuse me?? Iâm shattered byyyyyeee. Iâll tell you that he runs because he loves me?? You shouldâve see him when he first saw me? Once I fix me heâs gonna miss me??? Ladies and gents welcome to afternoon tea on the menu SCALDING hot queenâs special. Maybe Iâm a crumpled up paper on the floor. Maybe I am no more.
Down Bad
- well damn sheâs said the quiet parts out loud again. Oh smokes time to dissapear into this galaxy smoky cloud of night. One of us. One of us. One of us.
So long London
- literally standing by the river in the rain. May as well cry my damn eyes out . Darn it blondie. Poetic destruction. Crying my eyes out by the water like Iâm in made in Chelsea. Darn.
But daddy I love him
- a folklore ode? Little house on the prairie Princess revolution. Serve it up serve it up Iâm ready to be stuffed like a winter pig. A grown up love story. Itâs ridiculous and maybe wise eyes know too well itâs chockablock of red flags but darn Iâm a cheesinâ this is so cute.
Fresh out the slammer
- oh itâs like August but dark. August dark afternoon blistering hot and the storm is about to come.
Florida!!! Ft Florence and the machine
-ExXUSE MEEEEEEEeE?????!?!!?teee heee heee heeee. Your homeâs really only a town youâre a guest in??? Sorry canât speak my jaw has shattered. Pls pls. Palm tree pls.
Guilty as sin?
- A false God dreamy haze confessional? With sprinkle of Gold Rush??? I am a melted.
Whoâs afraid of little old me?
- The whoâs who of whoâs that is poised for the attack? But my bare hands paved their path, you donât get to tell me whatâs sad? - I AM CHOKED. Silenced mute. Ohhhh miss blondie is on BUSINESS. TELL THEM SWEETIE. Oh my heart đ
I can fix him (No really I can).
- Oooh moody blues preaching with generous dash of delusion? Ah yes my routine favourite beverage. I am drinking this up like air. Drunk on false hope? One of us. One of us. One of us.
Loml
- You Holy Ghost you told me Iâm the love of your life. Oh no Iâm crying again. Back to crumpled paper rocking back and forth on the floor in a ball it is. Itâs so pretty yet, shattering. Devastating. I wish I could unrecall how we almost had it all. Dancing phantoms on the terrace, are they second hand embarrassed that I canât get out of bed âcause something counterfit is dead? Yep thatâll do it.
I can do it with a broken heart?
- Oh damn. Honey nooooo. Oh myyyy. Oh Iâm in this picture and I donât like it. Itâs so artfully done, so upbeat and Poppy yet so hauntingly sad. Yes thatâs the point but itâs sooo well done. Oh sweetie. I canât stop laughing itâs not funny, itâs just you too pumpkin. I wanna hug her and tell her itâll be fine. Ok ok.
The smallest man who ever lived
- Oh Iâm speechless. And I donât even want you back, I just want to know, if rusting my sparkling summer was the goal. The bridge? Excuse me while I sink to the bottom of the darkest ocean.
The alchemy
- Oooh itâs so cute and dreamy. Iâm beaming you can hear her smile when she sings.
Clara bow
- Oooh itâs the lucky one grown up. The bridge is a masterpiece. Itâs hell on earth to be heavenly, thems the breaks it donât come gently. She knows sheâs a star, The never ending cyclical wheel of stardom, even the shiniest, ends with a new star born in its shadow.
The black dog
- Oh No no no I Am 1 billion percent destroyed. Byeeeee
Imgonnagetyouback
- Oooh blondie is on the prowl and what can I do but bop like the well stuffed clown I am. Insert meme of cat bopping their head.
The albatross
- Banjo? Haunting country cautionary tale? - scathing review of oneâs reputation, worst traits but underneath it all is just vulnerability. Caged for âmonstrosityâ but being so vulnerable and just wanting to be freed loved. The âmonsterâ trying to protect the one they love from the things that will come for them too? Do they even realise it? Do they care? Wow itâs poetically beautiful.
Chloe or Sam or Sophia or Marcus
- Oh itâs sad. If you wanna break my cold cold heart, just say I loved you the way that you were? Oh myyy. Replaying old moments, looking for clues wondering if it can all have a new ending? Wow.
How did it end?
- Wow the invasiveness of empathy of the innate curiosity of wanting to know, so you can something comforting, learn from it but you forget how it can be the worst part, having to offer up a âpost mortemâ to all when youâve barely even processed its ended yourself. The cyclical nature of it happening every time like itâs just a formal process weâve come to accept even though it haunts us all. Ironically as we listen to this. Wow so beautifully done.
So high school
- I wanna find you in a crowd just to hide from you, and in a blink of a crinkling eye, Iâm sinking, our fingers entertwined. Awww the sort of bubblegum silly feels you roll your eyes but you have the biggest smile on your face. Itâs soo cute. You know how to call, I know Aristotle.
I hate it here
- Oooooh tell me something awful like youâre a poet trapped inside the body of a finance guy. One of us. One of us.
ThanK you aIMee
- Oh my goodness itâs grown up mean but she made it out. Itâs so sad but Iâm beaming. I say thatâs my baby and Iâm proud. Andrea? Oh thank you next. Not the kid. Iâm cackling.
I look in peopleâs windows
- Oh itâs haunted death by a thousand cuts glimmering of desperate false hope. Itâs lovely.
The prophecy
- Oh. Damn yep thatâll do it. Right in the ticker. Damn. It feels very much like am I doomed to always be the one before the one? Wow. Just yeah.
Cassandra
- I donât know why but this makes think of safe and sound. Like the woman that was there when everything burned around them. Sheâs telling her side. Everyoneâs there to watch you burn, screaming your guilt but silent when theyâre wrong? If that ainât the truth miss. Oh wow. Shes beautifully captured such a dark chapter.
Peter
- Oh wow itâs beautiful. Itâs like post cardigan and sheâs all grown up. 'Cause love's never lost when perspective is earned. But the woman who sits by the window has turned out the light. Oh wow itâs wow.
The Bolter
- Oh we must stop meeting like this but it always ends with a town car speeding. Wowowow. It feels like the time she fell through the ice, then came out alive. Oh my a BEAUTY.
Robin
- Oh itâs so pretty. Itâs like never grow up, safe and sound and seven swirled together. Wow. Itâs like sheâs talking to her child but then also herself in the past and present, like from an older perspective? Ohhh itâs beautiful. Why does this make me think of coralineâs real mother watching her sleep? I wanna cry.
The manuscript
- Wow god itâs beautiful. Another time travel song. You keep revisiting past in your mind and you gain perspective and then you realise you arenât that version of you that lived it anymore. You can feel it still, not as deeply perhaps but youâre disconnected from thinking the way you did at that time or after. Is sobering and haunting. The healing. Wow wow wow.
@taylorswift thank you my love đ

she's been weird her entire life - and really, with a family like hers, how could she not be? the only daughter in a gaggle of boys, surrounded in her family's trailer by both love and constant criticism. each of them latched onto something - she just picked the old vhs copies of slasher films that her uncle left over, the last time he ever visited. and that would be her saving grace, and her downfall.
she buys a camera - or, well, you could say she sort-of steals a camera - when she's twelve. she pawns a few things she picks up off of the porches around the neighborhood, and then uses that to buy a film camera that's a bit too old and a few rolls of film. and then it begins, she's directing little movies with her brothers in starring roles - everything from war dramas to romantic movies featuring their girlfriends as love interests.
they put up with it, until she's in high school and it's no longer a product of her youth. then, she's got to recruit the losers and the theater kids from her high school - this time, all to make a full film reel. she's got her sights set on film school, on getting out of the town she's in and moving to new york city. and she'll need a scholarship to do it. so she works her ass off, and gets the scholarship, and the rest is a carefully crafted montage of packing up a life and moving it across the country.
film school is everything she thought it would be and more. she's got the freedom now, between her very structured classes, to branch out - try new, more experimental things. and she's got the equipment to meet the ideas she has in her head. nyu loans her real cameras, and she goes a little insane for the first two summers she's there - filming everything she possibly can and entering film festivals with short films that she actually feels meet her expectations.
she meets abel there, in class, and she actually finds someone who she values the opinions of. most people know that strike has never been able to be told she's wrong - too opinionated and hardheaded to actually be reasoned with. but abel's ideas are good, and their delivery's gentle enough that strike doesn't feel attacked all the damn time. they fall into the relationship with ease, like it's something that it's supposed to be. and strike doesn't even mind that misses a class or two, if it means she's actually got something real.
she wins, at the student film festival, with a short about the death of familial relationships - and she feels accomplished in a way she never really has before. she wants more, wants to actually bring some of the horrifying shit she's been writing to life - but she has to finish school first, has to perfect her screenplays and create a pitch, and she disappears for a little while, into her dorm room, to work on that. abel is the only one who actually sees her, for a while.
and then the relationship is over, one random morning, and strike is left alone in her dorm room. and she can't even process the heartbreak - she has a meeting coming up with several production companies and she works through it - works through everything. she's a bit of a workaholic, chasing a legacy that she knows she can leave. only her brother really gets through to her, when he moves up to new york, too. she's glad - he reminds her to eat and... exist, outside of the confines of a film set.
she wins an award on her first feature, and the accolades keep coming in, and being as meticulous and rude as she was during development seems... worth it. yeah, some of her actors hate her - but she got their names out there, by word of mouth and good performance, right? everything can be forgiven if it's a means to an end.
she releases another film with incredible turnaround time, and that one wins bigger awards - makes more money than she knows what to do with. they offer her a ridiculous amount of money - enough to buy the entire goddamn trailer park where she grew up, and she... turns it down. or - tables it, is a more correct way to put it. strike wants to be a person, and not a little worker bee.
so, she takes two years off - or, she gets the production company to agree to her taking two years off - and goes into the city to actually experience it. she'd never even been to central park, before - and she lived not ten blocks from it, during college. and when she starts to interact with the people around her, she starts to realize - she doesn't belong among them, still too many sharp edges and too much history. people think she's grown, a rags to riches success story - but strike's still that same girl, stealing off the others in her trailer park to chases insane dreams.
đđđđđđđđđđđ
THE ACTORS â people that appeared in her movies! strike is intense on a set, a whole different person than she is outside. you either hate her, or respect her for the way that she's able to push her actors into performances of a lifetime. no matter the opinion, her movies have garnered acclaim, so often those in them might hate her on set, but love her once the reviews are released.
THE COMPETITOR â perhaps another director, who attended nyu at a similar time - someone who's been coming up at the same time. neither of them are sure whether the rivalry is real of something they're both just clinging to - especially since they work in wildly different genres. nevertheless, the two are probably being eyed to be in an oscar race eventually - and that will be a bloodbath, if they don't make nice soon.
PLATONIC â she's hard to like, on set, but off of it - she's completely an open book. abrasive to a fault, strike's friends will have to be laid back and easygoing, able to take a joke ; people who also came from nothing, or who are less interested in living a life of luxury and more into smoking cigarettes outside of dingy bars that remind her of home ; anyone who might be interested in being in a movie - this could be someone who's a little more manipulative of her, she's desperate to feel normal again, and a friendship could get their food in the door.
ROMANTIC â hookups! strike's known for picking up at bars and trying to be completely normal about it afterwards - even worse, she's good at it. sex doesn't mean a lot to her - which could cause some conflict ; an ex that she "forgot" about during production, probably it fell apart due to her just... not ever texting back... could be dramatic!
ANTAGONISTIC â people who think they're better than her, or at least people who act like they're better at her ; people who are way too proper and upper class who might think she's a bit of a street rat (she is) ; anyone who doesn't like a random 5'1 girl swearing up a storm in their general vicinity - no matter what her status is in the movie world.

Celebrating Unity and Pride at EuroKids Bhadohi's Independence Day
The vibrant colors of saffron, white, and green envelop EuroKids Bhadohi every August, as the school gears up for its annual Independence Day celebration. This cherished occasion is not only an opportunity to honor India's liberation from colonial rule but also a chance to instill patriotism, unity, and pride among the staff and students. The event crafts memories and lessons that resonate far beyond the echoing sounds of patriotic songs and the fluttering of the national flag.
Understanding the Significance of the Celebration
Independence Day at EuroKids Bhadohi is more than just an annual traditionâit's a manifestation of our shared history and values. For the school, this day symbolizes the relentless struggle and sacrifices made by countless individuals who fought for India's freedom. Celebrating this day allows the school community to reflect on the past and reinforce the spirit of independence in the hearts of young learners.
The celebration serves as an educational experience for both staff and students. Through various activities, they explore the essence of freedom, encouraging them to appreciate their privileges and responsibilities as citizens of a free nation. This understanding fosters a sense of gratitude, transforming the celebration into a meaningful exercise in national pride.
Furthermore, such events unify the school community. By collectively commemorating this significant day, EuroKids Bhadohi strengthens the bonds between students, teachers, and staff, creating a nurturing environment where values such as respect, responsibility, and patriotism are celebrated and upheld.
Historical Context of India's Independence
To truly appreciate the significance of Independence Day, it's essential to revisit the historical context of India's struggle for freedom. The path to independence was marked by perseverance and sacrifice, with numerous leaders dedicating their lives to the cause. The culmination of this effort came on August 15, 1947, when India finally broke free from British rule, marking the birth of a sovereign nation.
At EuroKids Bhadohi, the historical narrative is woven into the Independence Day celebration to provide context and depth. It serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and countless others who envisioned an independent India. By recounting these stories, the school connects the past with the present, helping students understand the legacy they inherit.
This historical perspective also reinforces the relevance of Independence Day for young minds. By learning about the struggles faced by their forebears, students gain a deeper appreciation for the freedoms they enjoy today. This knowledge empowers them to value their rights and responsibilities, encouraging them to contribute positively to society.
Preparation for the Grand Celebration
Behind the grandeur of the Independence Day celebration at EuroKids Bhadohi lies meticulous planning and preparation. The school staff and students come together weeks in advance to ensure the event's success, combining their creativity and enthusiasm to make the day memorable for everyone involved.
Preparations begin with brainstorming sessions, where ideas for activities and programs are discussed. Teachers and students collaborate to design a schedule that captures the essence of the day, ensuring a balance of educational and entertaining elements. This collaborative effort not only ensures variety but also fosters a sense of ownership and pride among participants.
The weeks leading up to the celebration are filled with rehearsals and decorations. Students practice their roles in cultural programs and assemblies, honing their skills and building confidence. Staff members guide these preparations, offering support and encouragement to ensure each performance is polished and impactful.
Decorations transform the school into a visual feast of patriotism. Classrooms and hallways are adorned with tricolor decorations, posters, and banners, creating an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement. This collective effort underscores the importance of teamwork, highlighting the unity that defines the school community.
Activities and Events on Independence Day
Independence Day at EuroKids Bhadohi unfolds with a series of engaging activities and events that captivate the school community. From the solemnity of the flag hoisting ceremony to the vibrancy of cultural programs, each segment is carefully curated to celebrate the spirit of freedom and unity.
The day begins with the flag hoisting ceremonyâa moment of profound significance. The national flag is unfurled amidst the singing of the national anthem, filling the air with a sense of pride and reverence. This ceremony serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom, setting the tone for the day's celebrations.
Cultural programs follow, showcasing the talents and creativity of students. Dances, skits, and musical performances pay tribute to India's rich heritage, weaving together stories of bravery, resilience, and hope. These performances not only entertain but also educate, offering insights into the diverse tapestry of Indian culture.
Special assemblies provide a platform for reflection and learning. Teachers and students share speeches, poems, and presentations that explore the values of independence and citizenship. These assemblies encourage dialogue and discussion, inviting participants to critically engage with the themes of freedom and responsibility.
Instilling Learning and Values
Beyond the festivities, Independence Day at EuroKids Bhadohi is a powerful tool for instilling educational and moral values. The celebration encourages students to reflect on the ideals of freedom and equality, fostering a sense of civic duty and responsibility.
Through activities and discussions, students learn about the principles enshrined in the Indian Constitution. They explore concepts such as justice, liberty, and fraternity, understanding how these ideals shape their identity as citizens of a democratic nation. This knowledge empowers them to become informed, active participants in society.
The celebration also emphasizes the importance of respect and tolerance. By celebrating diversity and multiculturalism, students learn to appreciate differences and work towards harmony. This understanding is crucial in today's interconnected world, preparing them to thrive in diverse environments.
Furthermore, Independence Day fosters a sense of gratitude and appreciation for the freedoms they enjoy. Students are encouraged to recognize the privileges they have and to use their abilities to contribute positively to society. This sense of social responsibility is integral to building a compassionate, inclusive community.
Fostering Community Impact and Togetherness
One of the most remarkable aspects of Independence Day at EuroKids Bhadohi is its ability to foster a sense of community and togetherness. The celebration transcends individual differences, uniting students, staff, and families in a shared expression of pride and patriotism.
By coming together to commemorate this significant day, the school community strengthens its bonds. Students and staff collaborate on various activities, supporting one another and working towards common goals. This teamwork fosters a sense of belonging and camaraderie, creating a positive and inclusive environment.
The impact of the celebration extends beyond the school's boundaries. Parents and families are invited to participate in the festivities, joining in the celebrations and sharing in the joy of the occasion. This involvement reinforces the connection between the school and the wider community, promoting a sense of unity and cooperation.
Furthermore, the celebration serves as a platform for outreach and engagement. Students are encouraged to extend their learning beyond the classroom, participating in community service projects and initiatives. This involvement not only benefits the community but also reinforces the values of empathy and compassion.
Concluding Thoughts on Independence Day at EuroKids Bhadohi
As the sun sets on another Independence Day celebration at EuroKids Bhadohi, the echoes of laughter, music, and heartfelt speeches linger in the air. The day's events have left an indelible mark on the school community, reinforcing the values of freedom, unity, and responsibility.
The celebration's impact is profound and lasting. It reminds students and staff of the significance of independence, encouraging them to cherish their freedoms and uphold the principles of equality and justice. By honoring the legacy of India's struggle for freedom, the school nurtures a generation of informed, engaged, and responsible citizens.
The spirit of togetherness and pride that defines the celebration extends beyond August 15th. It permeates the school community, fostering an environment of collaboration, respect, and inclusion. The lessons learned and memories created during the celebration inspire students and staff to carry forward the values of Independence Day in their daily lives.
In closing, the Independence Day celebration at EuroKids Bhadohi is a testament to the power of unity and education. By coming together to commemorate this significant occasion, the school community not only honors the past but also shapes a brighter, more inclusive future.

Stressing laissez-faire economics at the expense of ultra-nationalism, the two young leaders of Confederation have made the far-right alliance popular enough to be the probable âkingmakerâ in Octoberâs parliamentary election.
Dressed in a perfectly pressed white shirt that almost glows under the neon lights, 36-year-old Slawomir Mentzen, the most popular of the two young leaders of the far-right Confederation (Konfederacja) alliance, is pacing up and down at the side of the stage rehearsing his upcoming speech.
Taking place on August 18 in an exhibition hall in Kielce, a town of 180,000 in southern Poland, this is the first event in an election campaign (dubbed âconcert tourâ) that the two leaders of Confederation, Mentzen and 41-year-old Krzysztof Bosak, are planning to keep up until the general election set for October 15.
As multiple speakers take their turn on stage, the audience keeps an eye on the pacing Mentzen â he is without doubt the star of the night. Mentzen has built his popularity largely on social media: in January, his posts on TikTok garnered a staggering 40 million views, compared with just 5 million for the politician in second place, Janusz Korwin-Mikke, an older politician also from Mentzenâs party.
When Mentzenâs turn comes, he doesnât disappoint. His speech can be better described as stand-up comedy, with self-deprecating images or memes about his political rivals projected on a large screen behind him as he cracks joke after joke. The audience, made up primarily of young and middle-aged men (though there are some women in the hall), is visibly excited, laughing out loud with each snarky remark.
Mentzen, a tax adviser and craft beer producer, advocates for radical cuts in tax and social security contributions, and an associated reduction in the size of the welfare system. At one point during the evening, he pulls out a thick stack of 10,000 pages on which he says is printed the text of all Polish laws setting out taxes on companies, and then tosses them into the air in a grand gesture.
âIf you work hard, then you will be free,â Mentzen tells his audience, describing his vision of the future. âRather than depend on bureaucrats, you will be free and dignified. This is a beautiful idea.â
Support for Confederation entered double digits at the turn of 2023, and by the beginning of summer the alliance, which is made up of three different extremist parties, was polling around 14 per cent. Because of Polandâs particular form of proportional representation (the dâHondt method) and the overall balance of power between the governing Law and Justice (PiS) and the liberal opposition, Confederation could find itself in the position of âkingmakerâ after the election. Both PiS and Civic Platform are reported to be considering adding MPs from Confederation if that is what it would take to form a governing majority.
Given how close the alliance is now to power, some observers say itâs important to emphasise that Confederation is still very much a radical far-right political force, despite the âcivilisedâ face adopted by its young leaders. And one of the areas where Confederation in government could have its biggest impact is Polandâs unwavering support for Ukraine in its war against Russia.
âGaysâ over taxes
Mentzen and Bosak used their respective speeches in Kielce to talk mostly about economics and system change; they presented Confederation as a third party challenging the political status quo that is dominated by PiS and Civic Platform. Yet, from time to time, they let slip phrases that, like a nod and a wink to the audience, betrayed their ultra-Catholic and ultra-nationalistic values.
âI prefer even gays to taxes,â Menzen said after explaining some tax reform he would introduce that would collaterally benefit unmarried people too.
âI am not racist or xenophobic,â Bosak said in turn, âbut it cannot be that after one week of living in Poland one gets the same rights and privileges as Polish people who have lived here for generations.â
Bosak began his political career over 20 years ago in All-Polish Youth, an ultranationalist group, and now leads the National Movement, an alliance of nationalist and ultra-Catholic groups which co-organises the annual Independence Day march on November 11, at which anti-Semitic and racist slogans are the norm.
His wife works for the ultra-Catholic organisation Ordo Iuris, which spearheads attempts to restrict reproductive and LGBT rights in Poland.
Mentzen is newer to politics. He sparked controversy in 2019 during the campaign for the European Parliament when he described the five objectives of his group: âWe donât want Jews, homosexuals, abortions, taxes and the European Union.â
Mentzen defended himself by claiming his words had been taken out of context, as he was merely explaining what would theoretically work to garner support. However, numerous statements made by Confederation members, widely available online, show that these are indeed key topics for Menzenâs political movement.
Rafal Pankowski, head of the Never Again anti-racism group in Poland, told BIRN it would be a mistake to judge Confederation by the tamer type of discourse that Mentzen and Bosak have indulged in lately. Pankowski said the Confederation electoral list is full of âknown hardcore extremistsâ, pointing out the key role in the far-right alliance of two notorious politicians, Grzegorz Braun and Janusz Korwin-Mikke.
Braun heads the Confederation of the Polish Crown, one of the three parties in the far-right Confederation alliance in addition to Mentzenâs New Hope and Bosakâs National Movement. As BIRN has previously reported, Braun is known for opposing the opening of Polandâs border to Ukrainian refugees at the start of the war and expressing support for vigilantes who attacked non-white refugees from Ukraine on the streets of the border town Przemysl in early March 2022. He has also been central to the Polish anti-vax movement.
Korwin-Mikke, who was formally replaced as leader of New Hope by Mentzen but is still active in campaigning for the party, is described by Pankowski as âthe politician with the longest record of making outrageous statements about every minority and in praise of Vladimir Putinâ.
War weary
Despite a majority of Poles maintaining support for Ukraine and its refugees, anti-Ukrainian feelings could still prove to be a trump card for Confederation in the upcoming election.
Among those attending the Kielce event interviewed by BIRN, most said they were there because they shared the economic or worldview goals of the two leaders. Yet some expressed interest in a separate issue.
âConfederation is the only party in Poland to have a different position on the war in Ukraine,â 21-year-old Tomasz told BIRN. âI count on an open discussion today to be able to ask questions about this. I think we should be watching out for our own interests and stay neutral in relation to the war in Ukraine.â
Some studies and commentators have noted a sense of gradually rising fatigue in Polish society with helping Ukrainian refugees and supporting the war effort. And provocations from Russia and Belarus, such as the two Belarusian military helicopters crossing into Polish air space in August, are aimed at accentuating that trend. Confederation is well positioned to take advantage if that happens.
âConfederation made a decision early on to hold an anti-Ukrainian refugee position, which at the start cost them a lot, as their support was at below 5 per cent,â Pankowski explained. âBut it may have been a clever decision to play a long-term game and they are now reaping the benefits.â
âConfederation plays a role in accentuating anti-Ukrainian feeling and is benefiting from that,â he added.
Katarzyna Zimolag, who is running for parliament on the Confederation list, denied that her party was anti-Ukrainian. However, the politician told BIRN that the support Poland has provided to Ukraine should be reassessed, as the economic situation in Poland means Poles are struggling too and their needs need to be put first.
When asked what could be the policy implications of having Confederation in government, Pankowski replied it was hard to say, as Poland is already ruled by a party with very right-wing views, even if thereâs always room for more.
âConfederation in government could really have a negative impact on how comfortable Ukrainian refugees feel in this country and could also undermine Polandâs overall support for Ukraine,â he said.

The Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio
youtube
The Guillermo Del Toro adaptation of Pinoccio has been widely appreciated as one of the best animated films of the year and its one of my personal favourites.
Guillermo Del Toro's approach to screen direction and storytelling is always a treat to watch but seeing him work in the medium of animation is something else (for me).
One of the things ive spoken about in the past that I really appreciate animation for is the level of control that the film maker has. In the movie "Pinocchio" there is so much detail that makes the world feel alive and rich.
Del Toro films always seem to have great production design and this film is no different, in a behind the scenes promo video Del Toro said:
"This is no different than designing and decorating a full size live action movie set that's the beauty of stop motion animation, set design, decoration, cinematography they are completely like a live action film"
To me the film had a stage design type of feel to it, especially when it comes to the lighting and layout of the backgrounds. Much like stage design there is a strong sense of layering in many of the backgrounds in this film, as these layers are so beautifully and meticulously detailed they become realistic in isolation but when paired with this layering a really nice visual style emerges.
Mark Gustafson a director on the film Pinocchio said:
"Early on you have to find out the aesthetic , like exactly what it is. Well base it on something very very simple"
"We had to find the language of it. How cartoony is it? How real is it? and there was sort of a sweet spot I think we've landed in."
The stop motion animation works great with the stage production live action aesthetic, the realism injected through detail helps the audience relate and believe in the characters story. There is a kind of emotional core to this film which could not exist without realism. The idea of uncanny stylised realism also (obviously) ties to the theme of the story of Pinocchio wanting to be a real boy and not understanding the difference between himself and a real boy.
