Thank you all so much for the well wishes, love, positive energy, and support. This is such a lovely community and it’s been proven time and time again during times of hardship.

Derrick is hanging in there. We started chemo yesterday. He’s been napping all morning, which has been especially good since we’re on a ‘no food or drink’ order awaiting an MRI and spinal procedure this afternoon. Every bit of news we get from the doctors makes us feel more worried, more scared, and makes it harder to keep our chins up. Nevertheless, we will. He is in good hands and though this will be incredibly hard, he will make it through to the other side. I can’t wait to see him healthy again.

The waters are contaminated now,

Rapid currents jerking me around.

Jaded. Guarded. But wiser? At a cost.

The gleam has left her eyes.

Some times I only feel when I cry.

From pain. From loss.

A little vent before the new year.

The last 4-5 years I have lived had been plagued with complicated and exhausting relationships with men and myself. This year has been the hardest for me in regards to that. I dated someone I thought would work out because we been friends for a decade. But that was a flop because for a year it was just an on and off mess. I tried very hard for someone who couldn't even tell if they really wanted me for a year. Just to find out they showed my intimate photos with people. They left to grow. To come back to prove they deserve me in their life. I should be angry, and yet why do I cry?

Moved on to a situation where I made a ton of mistakes because I felt like an experiment. I ended up begging for crumbs of affection. Crumbs of being treated well. Crying because I felt disrespected and belittled and infantilized over and over again. Constantly feeling reminded that mens interest in sex with me is ahead of interest in me as a person.

Idk. I just cry. I try to be forgiving. I don't really know why. It's not like they allot me the same space. I'm always trying to be understanding of their trauma. Their reasons. I would let myself live with less just to be in their good graces. If I asked for any sort of handicap it felt like I was twisting their fingers. They always made me feel like I asked for so much. When I just wanted to build a relationship. To become closer.

I forgive them and yet I cry every other day remembering all the things they've told me. I'm annoying. Predictable. Me wanting understanding and help is too much. No one can save me. When I never asked to be saved.

I don't know what next year will hold. I'm terrified
