Okay well, they didn’t ask me if I wanted to see Nosferatu with them today, or like in general on another day.. I had mentioned in the past being excited about the remake to them and they know I’m a vampire lover. If a new movie came out that I know a friend (and someone I had been very intimate with..) would want to see and expressed interest in, I would specifically invite them to see it with me. Sure, it was probably a spur of the moment ‘I think I’m gonna go do this today actually,’ but they are a classic cinephile, so if anything, they had planned to see this opening day or soon after.

I need to let this go. It’s clear that whatever between us, isn’t gonna go further than it is, and they just aren’t up to my expectations. I need to show myself more respect and love than I have been. This ugly attachment style is killing the vibe as always, and it makes me sick in so many ways. I’m tired of it, yet my brain enjoys the familiarity. I am so horribly mangled by situationships at this point, that actual love and committed relationship seems like the funniest joke one can make. My type is a fucking joke and I need to grow past it. My insecurities are a fucking joke and I need to work even more seriously on them. Dating and relationships of this generation are a fucking joke, and I cannot entertain anyone with these low ass qualities. The bar has been in hell long enough, I know there is something higher than I had been shown.

「結婚しようか」とクリスマスの夜に跪かれて、赤い薔薇を12本もらった。聞こえ間違えて「結婚しようかな？」と第一声に聞き返してしまった。「ちゃんと結婚しようかって言ったよ」と言う彼の手から花束を受け取って「結婚しようか」と返した。彼がディナーを作ってくれた後のプロポーズだったから、その後ふたりで片付けをした。ほかほかとした気持ちのまま、急に日常に戻っていくのが可笑しかった。生活自体は何も変わらない。けれど、これから結婚についてふたりで当たり前のように話ができるのが素直に嬉しかった。他人に“恋人”ではなく、“婚約者”として話せるのが嬉しかった。彼と家族になるのが約束されたことが嬉しかった。この人とわたしは結婚するのだ。

4日経ってもまだ心がほかほかしている。朝、目が覚めて隣に彼がいることに、頬が緩む。「フィアンセー！」と抱きしめたりしている。愛おしくて堪らない。

6日経って、急に怖くなった。こんなに毎日楽しくて仕方がないのに、いつかどちらかが先に死んでしまうことが。いつまでも長生きして欲しい。できる��となら私より長く。できることなら私と一緒にいつまでも。少しだけ涙の粒が出た。けれど、先のことばかり考えたって、生きてる時間が長くなる訳でも短くなる訳でもない。この先ずっと、きっと生きているこの瞬間を享受し続けるしかないのだ。もらった12本の薔薇をブリザードフラワーにしようかと思ったけれどやめた。これからの人生で何回も彼から花束をもらうだろうし、花もわたしも彼も生きているから美しく、思い出は目に見えないから掛け替えがないはずだ。

プロポーズと一緒に手紙も貰った。その手紙は、こんな言葉で締めくくられていた。

「これから先どんな人生を歩んでいこうか。見たいもの、行きたいところ、若いうちにたくさん経験しておきたいね。歳をとっていくと辛いことも増えるだろうけれど、二人なら乗り越えられる。いつまでも健康に笑顔でいてくれたら僕も幸せです。末永くよろしくね」楽しいことだけじゃない。辛いことも二人で乗り越えていく。そのことになんだか安心して、彼なら身を委ねられると思った。彼が思う幸せにわたしがいることに、体と心がふっと軽くなった。ふたりで生きていく。きっとこの先、何度もこの手紙を読み返すのだろう。心の内でこの言葉をおまもりのように何回も思い返すのだろう。
