exploring panic!'s a fever you can't sweat out/live in denver boxset
a couple of years ago, i managed to snag this for $150, which is still crazy to me, and it's definitely my favorite thing i've ever owned. i feel like i haven't seen many people detailing the contents of it, and since it's such a cool relic, i wanted to share this beauty with everyone.
it comes with the live in denver dvd (left) and a fever you can't sweat out cd (right). the cover art and discs are SO fucking pretty and cool i'm so obsessed with them. i love how it really feeds into that 20s/30s theme they had going on this era.
then it has these 4 photo cards which are all such beautiful photos. the first one especially is one of my all time favorite panic photos. the b&w filter also fits this era so well.
this is a phenakistiscope. you stand in front of a mirror and spin it around while looking through the cracks so it looks like the girl is dancing (instructions are included on the back).
this is a tour program for the live in denver tour. it includes all the tour dates, as well as a guide to their discography. including pictures of the inside would exceed my image limit, so if anyone wants a post detailing this item, i'd be more than happy to post that!
self explanatory but it's a mask reminiscent of the but it's better if you do music video.
there's this SUPER cool poster that i'd love to hang up on my wall but i'm too scared to in case it ruins it. i'm actually so obsessed with this thing.
this is something else i can't include detailed pictures of due to the image limit, but honestly there isn't a lot of lore or super interesting stuff inside of it. however, i'd still be happy to detail it more in another post.
there's this GORGEOUS notebook that i'm also too scared to actually do anything with. it is actually quite a thick notebook. i looove the detail of the "PANIC!" barely visible in the middle of the pages.
now onto my absolute favorite part of this thing:
these cards for each song on fever are SO fucking cool and i love them so much. they're printed on really nice material too; they don't feel cheap and have this grainy feel to them too (idk how else to describe it) and it works so well. luckily i'm able to post individual pictures of each one.
so the back of all of them have the lyrics printed like that but i won't be able to post pictures of that for each one.
they just all encapsulate the theme of each song perfectly while also fitting so well with the aesthetic that they had this era. like my jaw dropped when i saw these for the first time. (side note: i'm not sure why they numbered intermission as number 12 when it should be 8 based on the album. i also don't know why they skipped introduction since they included intermission).
all in all, this is the coolest piece of merch a band has ever put out imo. like no one is doing it like this anymore. i'd been yearning for it since i was 14 so i'm so glad i was able to find it as such a steal of a price. i'll never shut up about owning it and if you're able to get your hands on it i cannot recommend it enough.
#panic! at the disco#panic at the disco#ryan ross#jon walker#spencer smith#brendon urie#patd#live in denver#a fever you can't sweat out#afycso#now i just need the pretty odd boxset and it will be complete#but thats consistently $400 so it's gonna be a while#sorry it took me so long to post this btw

QUEEN I boxset spoilers look away if you're waiting for another six hours!!
£200 ish (not QOL store exclusive). Release date for 25 October 2024.
Queen’s self-titled debut album will be remixed and released this October. This is the first time that a Queen album has been remixed. Retitled Queen I for this release, the front cover’s Queen logo, originally designed by Freddie Mercury, will be updated with the addition of the Roman numeral “I”. The original album was recorded in 1972 and was released in July 1973 on EMI Records in the UK and Elektra in the USA.
Featuring the singles “Keep Yourself Alive” and “Liar”, the album achieved Gold sales in the UK and USA, and has been a fan favourite ever since.
This Collector’s Edition sees the album presented in a whole new light, having been newly mixed from the original multi-track masters, and with the song “Mad The Swine” now reinstated into the album running order in its originally intended place.
The bonus discs that complete the 6CD+1LP set include: De Lane Lea Demos (also newly mixed from the original multi-track masters for the very first time); a CD comprised entirely of previously unreleased Queen I session out-take music and dialogue; a CD of instrumental and backing track versions of the album; a live CD featuring some of the best and most interesting live performances of songs from this album (some of which are previously unreleased); and finally, a disc comprised of Queen I tracks that were recorded for BBC Radio One (including DJ announcements).
Queen I – including “Mad The Swine” – is also presented on 180g black vinyl.
The Collector’s Edition is complemented by the addition of a 108-page 12” hardback book, which features a treasure trove of rare and previously unseen photography, hand-written lyrics, Freddie Mercury’s sketches, and more.
Presented in a rigid two-piece box with fold-out poster and four photo prints.
Track List:
Exciting!! 😭💀💸

Mr. Cheapo’s (Commack) shopping list, 2018.
If there was one store that started it all for me, it was Mr. Cheapo’s. It was the first in a long line of mom-and-pop record stores that sold used titles. Brentwood’s Pine Hollow Video was the first store I went for all my hip-hop and rap CDs and cassettes, but realizing that my interest in music was growing, Mr. Cheapo’s showed me what potential was about. The first year of earning a paycheck was the same year I discovered this store. It was where I bought my first stack of used CDs notably from Pearl Jam, Marilyn Manson, and Filter, whose “Dose” promotional single would be the first-ever I’d buy. It’s been around for decades and hasn’t been renovated as long. It’s also the only record store on Long Island to have two locations: Commack and Mineola.
Cheapo’s is just like Talking Heads: same as it ever was. Nothing has changed except for its’ overall stock. New releases behind the counter, near-endless bins of new and used vinyl and CDs with a cassette wall nearing the back. What used to be shelves upon shelves of VHS tapes now have the most extensive used DVD and Blu-ray library of any store. Vintage and classic vinyl 12″ and 45′s were pinned up on the back walls. Boxsets, posters, other 45′s, music-related books, DVDs, and more rows of obvious titles on vinyl and CD made up the rest of the store’s real estate. And plenty of shelves of used pop CDs for $3 each. No. Thank. You.
I didn’t scan the entire store as I was uninterested in all those used pop CDs, so I go right to the jazz / fusion section as I always do. About seven to eight columns wide with another three for soul, funk, and R&B, they didn’t let me down. One, two, three Bob James albums; the stuff of samplists. Blackbyrds, George Benson, and Deodato were mine and so was Jon Lucien whose “A Sunny Day” stood as one of my most-played tracks of all time. Tough that wasn’t found on his Columbia’s Best Of… The Hubert Laws that I passed up a while ago? It’s back in the bin and I wouldn’t make the same mistake twice. What I also picked up was The Rolling StonesUndercover. Once in my possession, I decided to give it away to friend and collector Tommy when he found a dump of 500 records one of his customers threw out on the sidewalk.
A category I haven’t thumbed through in a minute was the hip-hop section, we’re not talking vinyl. For the first time in a while I scored some good titles on disc.Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth and Naughty By Nature were titles that’d be in my collection starting out in the Brentwood days. Jedi Mind Tricks because Vinnie Paz is real underground hip-hop. Got to have M.I.A. in my collection, too. Then I come across P.O.S. whose truly-innovative packaging with interchangeable transparent and solid panels with CMYK theme caught my eye. It harkened back to the pre-internet days of discovering certain artists you never knew existed by purchasing blind. An inquiry for anything Suicide led me to search through the punk bins where I found The Unseen. Watching The Blank Generation made me seeRichard Hell & The VoidoidsBlank Generation disc with bonus tracks in the bins but at first passed it up. Then I find the vinyl re-issue of the same album with live and alternatve versions for double the asking price. In that case, I ended up going for the disc version.
I rounded out my two-hour visit with other odds and ends. Other titles I bought for $2.00 and less were The Jerky Boys, Katt Williams, and Last Stop Standing, a record-shopping documentary. How fitting! Finally, I got a Paula Abdul cassette, one I used to have in my collection until my bro- misplaced it on me. Like I have to answer to any of you.

Album Review: Grateful Dead - Duke ’78
It wasn’t until the set-closing twofer of “Lazy Lighting” -> “Supplication” that everything was just exactly perfect during the Grateful Dead’s April 12, 1978, performance at Duke University.
Microphone issues that rendered “Dire Wolf” essentially an instrumental; botched lyrics; and general sloppiness - interrupted by a fully formed “Funiculi, Funicula” - mar the balance of the first set of the show culled from the Dead’s Friend of the Devils: April 1978 boxset and released as the standalone Duke ’78.
Set two begins auspiciously with a rambunctious “Bertha” that segues sharply into a “Good Lovin’” that comes with climax after climax.
The band pretty much shot its wad here as “It Must Have Been the Roses” is laden with miscues and a laissez-faire “Estimated Prophet” -> “Eyes of the World” leads to a lengthy drum duet and confirms setlists tell only part of the story.
And so it goes through the end of the show until after the encore break when a … refreshed Grateful Dead plays a firecracker “U.S. Blues” that features an earth-mover of a rhythm section and a screaming Jerry Garcia, presumably making up for his inaudible lines on the show-opening “Jack Straw.”
Grade card: Grateful Dead - Duke ’78 - C+

okay so I’ve finally had a chance to look through all the new (and “new”) material getting released in The Miracle boxset and holy shit there is SO much to look forward to!!
Backing tracks for each of the original ten album songs
All of the B-sides and 12″ single versions (including some B-Sides that weren’t part of the previously-released “Deluxe Edition” of the album, namely live version of Stone Cold Crazy and My Melancholy Blues)
An entire CD of demos, original takes, rough mixes, and the six previously-unreleased songs (including the new Face It Alone and finally we’re getting Dog With A Bone!!)
The “Queen For An Hour” interview with all four of them, plus outtakes from that interview, and a Rockline interview with just Brian and Roger. (Here’s hoping that the interviews are in better quality that what’s been available online!)
A DVD/Blu-Ray with all the music videos, the Breakthru interviews, and the making-of videos (so hopefully we’ll get better quality versions of all of those too!)
Obviously anyone who gets the boxset itself also gets the hardcover book and press pack, but what I find really interesting is that the LP included with the boxset is “The Long Lost Original LP Cut” - aka it’s the exact same album but now with Too Much Love Will Kill You included like it was originally meant to be. (If anyone is interested it appears between I Want It All and The Invisible Man, and if that’s where it was slated to be in the tracklist even back in ‘89? Hi, yeah, we really need to talk about that choice of song order because oh my goddddddd)
#text#I'm so excited for this album that I think I accidentally pre-ordered two copies of it and I don't even careeeeeeeeee#(not two copies of the boxset just to be clear. I did not fuck up that badly alsdkfjklasdjl)

Sorry, this took longer than I thought it would. There was just so much stuff in this particular CD set XD.
After 6 years, here is the last batch of E.M.U songs. This is the Memorial Box Collection, which consists of E.M.U’s previous CDs and some unreleased stuff. While most of these songs have been posted already, there are 12 new ones that were either released only on single CDs or were only sung in concerts but got a studio version exclusive to this boxset. This download includes all 5 discs, along with romanized lyrics to any new songs, and scans of the front and back cover of the box and the covers of each disc.
Note: This box only has songs that are credited to E.M.U. They don’t contain songs from their fictional character counterparts, Sotsugyou M. Also, while this came with a photo booklet, it was too thick for me to scan properly. I’m currently looking for an extra copy so that I can scan it sometime in the future.
You can download the full Box HERE.
Even though this is the last of the E.M.U / Sotsugyou M music uploads, we are not done with them yet. There are still concerts and specials that I have yet to convert into a digital format. So I hope you all look forward to seeing those in the future X3.
Since I don’t want this post to look too long on the search page and dashboard, click below for more information on what’s on each CD:

is anyone anyone else not a bit weirded out by that dude who gets into multiple fancalls per comeback?? like it’s obvious he’s buying hundreds of albums to get in…what does he do with them afterwards?
"that dude" you mean the majority of them? lol, although this fansign was for orbit japan members, you 'only' had to buy the 12-member boxset, be a member, access it was guarenteed (i was so close to buying it but then got self consciousscout my nose lmao). i've spoken about this before but i really do believe that rich people think bribery is a form of love.
theyll spend literally thousands to get into minute-long video calls where the girls tell them exactly what they want to hear (the girls actually have pretty good fanservice memory, but it's easier if they see them like several times an era lol 😭, and buy them birthday presents like valentino and miu miu and whatnot and appear so "loyal" the girls are obligated to play nice. i was thinking about hyejus birthday when a fansite got her a pile of designer shit. hyeju doesn't wear or like designer clothes! her favorite present was the fact that choerry stayed up til midnight to surprise her in person and that didnt cost choerry a thing except a for the cake. they don't really care about these people, not in a thoughtful considerate sense anyway. they're so set in their ways of "spend money = you must like me" that they can't even think that there are many ways to show your dedication as a fan that costs way less.
also korea actually has a real problem with the excess of physical cds, i remember orphanages and homeless shelters complaining that fans were sending their spare cds to them as an "act of charity" when really using them as dumping grounds. though, i think a lot of people simply just resell the photocards, which after they go out of print will probably net more profit than actually selling a sealed CD. anyway, it's very unfortunately not just one guy :/

first song i heard by them? i have distinct memories of my dad playing making plans for nigel, helicopter, and senses working overtime when i was a kid, so it probably was one of those

1. what is the first song you remember hearing? Oh man uhh... i remember my my dad playing the video for... oops i did it again I think? by britney spears and i was very obsessed with it. if i saw the video I would know but i don’t feel like doing that. hard to say if that is my earliest memory of music tho. i remember listening to the R.E.M. In Time greatest hits in the car late at night and feeling weird out of body as Man on the Moon came on. i like that story better but I have no idea when that memory is from. i also feel like i heard my mom singing along with Sarah McLaughlin or Norah Jones a lot when i was very young.
2. what is the first band you got into? hmm... i really loved Bon Jovi when I was very young but i didn’t like. have any knowledge of them or their discography I just liked slippery when wet and their greatest hits. and also thats embarrassing so i am trying to think of an out... probably the first real musical obsession i had was lana del rey when I was 14 /15 but thats also not great. just take the L buddy... i didnt actually get into music i would now consider very good until about 16.
3. do you collect any physical music? during quar i started trolling ebay and other similar sites for cheap cds and I have gotten a pretty good collection! you would be shocked the number of people who just really do not want to have their R.E.M. albums anymore. I have a few vinyls- a couple of cheap Joni records, Station to Station, the mats Dead Mans Pop boxset thing, and the R.E.M. single So. Central Rain. Oh and I have a very cool cd single of beastie boys body movin’. I also have a collection of cassettes that used to belong to my mom- she passed 5 yrs ago so they are very special to me! she had some R.E.M., U2, Eurythmics, Squeeze, Crowded House, Indigo Girls, and I recently dug up a bootlegged Tracy Chapman tape! she might have some more at her childhood home and if I find a tape of murmur i’ll like blackout. the sad thing is that now I really like all these musicians my mom apparently liked but i was not into them when she was alive so :/ figuring things out feels like archeology. was listening to In Time greatest hits the other day and was like she definitely skipped E-Bow the Letter every time it came on lol bc i did not hear this song until like last year.
4. what is your favourite piece of music memorabilia? do you know that picture of R.E.M. where they are all holding roses like they are all going to the prom together? i scored a poster of that off Ebay for the incredible deal of $50!! a deal at any price :) I don’t have much that is like legit valuable lol. But here you have to see the picture
5. what's your favourite concert you've ever been to? hmm i havent really been to any truly mindblowing concerts I don’t think. I got to see Tommy Stinson play an acoustic set at 7th street entry in 2019 which was very cool. I feel crazy saying thats my favorite but it was incredibly special.
6. if you could see one artist who is no longer alive in concert, who would it be? If you ask right now I would probably have to say Replacements with Bob Stinson. Prince would be a close one
7. have you met any musicians? almost! when i went to see tommy stinson, afterwards he was hanging in a bar next to the club and was taking selfies with people. i kept thinking about getting in line and eventually i decided to just do it. when i finally went to go look for him he was deep in a conversation with someone and I also realized i had nothing intelligent to say, so i sat and stared at him talking for a bit until i left and went back to the show.
8. what is your go to album when you're feeling sad? Tim by the mats! i think i maybe listened to this album every day my senior year of high school. it is legitimately strange how I feel as if this album just knows me very well. everyone says this about the mats but every song feels like it’s about me and my life. I think a perk of being a lower middle class Minnesotan with an alcoholic father is just really really getting the replacements. but i guess it depends on the kind of sad I am. If i’m just looking to be cheered up i might go with Lifes Rich Pageant or Green by R.E.M. because invariably by the end of Tim I will be bummed out !
9. what is your go to album when you're feeling happy? somehow this is a very hard question. Radio City by Big Star was a big one for me when i was still on campus. maybe an obvious one but rubber soul is a good being happy album
10. what is one music documentary you love? the doc Every Everything about Grant Hart from Hüsker Dü is a favorite. it’s just all interview with him and he’s a fascinating guy. I’ve never watched an interview with him where i wasn’t like woah u’re smart :0... the director of that also did a good replacements doc but at certain point with mats journalism im just like well i could’ve just read trouble boys.
11. what is one concert DVD you love? I think I only own one concert DVD, Prince’s Lovesexy show which i was very obsessed with back in high school.
12. do you prefer listening to playlists or albums? i prefer albums usually, sometimes i’m in the mood for a playlist but albums are def superior
13. do you prefer to listen to albums in order or on shuffle? in order !!!! What am i a psychopath
14. what is your favourite deep cut song by your favourite artist? Portland by the mats is a top ten song of theirs. very in character for it to be a b-side i’m not even mad
15. what is your favourite cd/cassette/vinyl you own in terms of packaging? I love the inner sleeve of my Grandpaboy cd which is just Paul Westerberg’s doodles and scribblings. sometimes when i buy stuff off of ebay it comes with notes and stuff too which is my favorite. my copy of suicaine gratifaction came with a very sweet note of how much the previous owner loved it. and my copy of mbv’s loveless has this very hard to read note which i can maybe make out half of. if you can read it please translate for me.
i love being tagged but if you do not want to answer 15 long questions do not feel pressured! i shall tag @the-replacemints @pattismithgender @myfcukingrat @willemdafoeplscallmemynumberis @little-rimbaud @milesofsmiles97 @electrofolk 🤙😜💘

What was your first memory (form childhood?) when you realized that music can make something special to you. I call it musical orgasm, it has nothing to do with sex as such but feeling of fulfillment is the same. So in other words, if possible please describe your first musical orgasm.
It must have been early, because I do not remember it. What I can tell you is that when I was around 3 or so, some friend of my Mum’s started organising these chamber music evenings with pretty high profile musicians in our town, and because we always got tickets for free and my parents both wanted to go they just took me with them. They appearantly got alot of criticism for it, because it was somewhat late for a child that age, and people thought I would disturb. I never did - I either fell asleep on my dad’s lap or listened very attentively. I do not remember this, but appearantly alot of the times the musicians noticed because it was so strange and talked to me afterwards and showed me their instruments.
I started to be the “flower girl” when I was about 5, I had to walk up on stage once they were done and hand the customary flower bouquets to the soloists, curtsy and everything. My mum sewed these really pretty dresses for me, can you believe it? It’s like that was a different person. I remember being super nervous every time, I didn’t know about actors or football stars or what was on the radio, so these people were the biggest stars in my universe.
I got my first radio when I was about 7 because I would. not. shut. up. about it. It looked like this (actually pretty sure it was that exact model). I started to listen to music so much, my parents started to worry, especially because I would lay down on the carpet really close to it and turn it quite loud, so they worried about my ears. But my dad was already quite sick at that time and I think they eventually just had bigger worries, and I don’t remember having to defend that a whole lot. I listened to whatever came on the radio, and my Mum’s Deutsche Grammophon Tapes with the yellow labels.
When I was around 10 I was deemed old enough to take the 50 minute Busride from our home to my school by myself. I think my mum wanted to soften the blow and gave me my first Walkman because of that. Shortly after that became a Discman. It didn’t have anti skip, so everything sounded like a broken record on the bus, but I still took it religiously. I had these rechargeable batteries, and 6 of them fitted into the charger. I went through all 3 pairs each day and if I ever forgot to charge them one night that was a very, very, very bad day. Things were really difficult for me at school, and often I just listened to music in my breaks just to not have to hear what people were saying about me. It wasn’t allowed of course, but I got very inventive in hiding it beneath my clothes and my earbuds under my hair and stuff.
Besides from radio stuff I hardly remember, that time I listened mostly to bands my brother showed me, most noticeably a german folk-rock-pop band by the name of Paddy Goes To Holyhead, who wanted to bring Irish folk to germany but with a twist. I still listen to them today:

When I turned 12 we got our first TV, and suddenly music had this additional visual element. I’d always drawn alot to music and MTV and Viva was everything I ever asked for. I spend HOURS doing nothing else, and watched everything even if alot of the music I didn’t even like. But I think what was a real turning point for me was the moment Funeral of Hearts came out. I just couldn’t look away. I kept waiting for it to come back on so I could record it on VHS. That album was the first one I went to get in the store the day it came out. I actually made a sole friend at school because I drew Heartagrams on my jeans, and they noticed it, and then introduced me to all those other bands, like stuff that would only play late or seldomly on MTV , like Die Ärzte, and In Extremo and such (and Rammstein!) Their Dad played in a Metallica cover band, and suddenly there was this entire new world that looked so cool and seemed to be exclusively build for misfits like me. Via them I met my first boy in a band(tm). He was the drummer, and now there were gigs too. I technically was too young, but I didn’t look it I guess and because my friends were a little older they just smuggled me in. I met more people that way, first time I even had any real friendships at all. First kiss, first love, first everything happened against this backdrop of really shitty garageband gigs and parties.

Another turning point for me was when With The Lights Out came out. That’s a Nirvana Boxset released in 2004, and it contained all these demos, and I had just recently been introduced to Nirvana by some of the guys, and it opened this insight into how that kind of music was made and that even my biggest stars kind of sounded just as shit as my friends at some point, and I think it just made it feel like aomething that really belonged to me. I got it for christmas, which shows that while my mum was kind of a shit neglectful mum still was sort of cool too. One of my favorite Christmas presents ever, I still have it.
The rest, as they say, is history. I don’t always like being asked about music because I have so many moments with it, so many ways to answer questions like “what’s your favorite song” etc. I always feel like it’s to big to be answered like that, you know? Music is my sanctuary and the most important thing in my life, even if I love my job, or my family or whatever. I could not exist without it. An exemple: according to Spotify, I spend around 2700 hrs of listening to music in 2019. That’s a third of an entire year - and I don’t actually listen to music so much when I work because it needs too much concentration (the music, not the work). Plus, I additionally listen to CDs and Vinyls so spotify can’t even track that. That’s alot of time.
I recently got a pair of trendy Marshall headphones because my studio headphones plainly make me look stupid in puplic, and they fold down small enough to fit in my jacket’s pocket. (Which is a relief, because to be honest wearing heafphones around your neck all the time is a little impractical.) The other day I met a friend, and she picked me up at the trainstation. She looke me over and said something like you look so different today, and riddled over it for like 10 minutes before she suddenly goes “oh Anna where are your headphones!!!” In my pockets, is all.
Maybe that tells you all you need to know about me.
#i think this went completely out of hand#but thank you so much#this ask made me feel really seen#and I need that today#this is such a good place to exist#thank you tinnike

Album Review: Paul McCartney - The 7” Singles
Paul McCartney’s 7” Singles boxset is a 10-hour flight across the cute Beatle’s post-Fab career - a 159-track ride of ups, downs and oddball detours spanning six decades.
There are hits. There are obscurities that languished on B-sides. There’s reinforcement of the theory that while McCartney is virtually unmatched in exploring personal and intrapersonal relationships, his attempts at social commentary (“Give Ireland Back to the Irish,” “Ebony and Ivory,” “Pipes of Peace”) often fall flat.
The arc of McCartney’s post-1970 output is examined in great detail as he goes lo-fi in the wake of the Beatles’ splintering, struggles to find his footing, makes Wings the biggest thing since the Lads, waxes experimental, struggles to remain relevant and ultimately finds himself flipping the success-failure ratio as the boxset suffers a significant drop off in quality as the hours, years and tracks slip away.
And it’s all summed up perfectly in the juxtaposition of 1972’s “Hi Hi Hi” and 2018’s “Fuh You.”
Grade card: Paul McCartney - The 7” Singles - C+

STORY TIME
I was just a wee 12 year old scoundrel developing a love for progressive rock at such a young age. I remember I was listening to Traffic, Pink Floyd, Yes, Genesis and Steamhammer on such a daily basis that I was just warped into that zone. Keep in mind, this was 2012. In 2012, Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar and Drake ruled the earth and there was no stopping. Of course, I did listen to other genres and artists too such as Taylor Swift (yes, that was a big guilty pleasure of mine), Kendrick Lamar (still love him and I became conscious with him at such a young age. My parents dunno why), and even for a time being, Tyler, the Creator and Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Em’ All.
This friend I had online that I met on a message board, can’t forget his name but bless him for life, had introduced me to such artists like Traffic and Van Morrison and helped me relate to such artists like Morrison, Nick Drake and Animal Collective. The one band I never checked out that he recommended me was King Crimson. By me hearing that name when I was 12-13 years old, I hated it. I thought it was gonna be tad-shit awful based on the name. Yes, that may be weird, but that’s how I got distanced from them. I never even checked out even of their album art except for In The Court of the Crimson King and it scared the living shit out of me.
It wasn’t until I was 14 (in April) that I finally decided to listen to King Crimson. I had found their album discography on an Dailymotion account and it was high-quality so I was in luck. I listened to the entirety of In The Court of the Crimson King and I hadn’t even said a word 2 hours after I had listened to it. I was speechless, literally. I had matured quick and that helped me mature even faster and it was a weird mess. I remember me also immediately going into a show that was released from the KCCC (King Crimson Collector’s Club) (this was the album by the way, awesome and lucky find). I remember the next day talking to my mom about the album and she just said “I don’t know why you listen to this!” The next few days, I was constantly listening to King Crimson albums I had found and streamed on a video site or had downloaded illegally (I lost them when my computer was DDosed and just completely fucked).
Right now, as a ‘ol 21 year old scoundrel, I have still been listening to King Crimson ever since and I still remember the 2 hours I spent not saying anything and just being awestruck on the quality of the album. Afterward, I had gotten into ELP, GG&F, McD&Giles and more because of King Crimson and I love all 3 of those groups, especially ELP. My favorite album of all time and my favorite live album of all time is still King Crimson and possibly will always be (In the Court of the Crimson King and The Great Deceiver).
FUN FACT: The Great Deceiver (both the song and the boxset album) is the inspiration behind my username.
#king crimson#story time#progressive rock#prog#robert fripp#tagging frippy boy cuz why not#stop asian hate btw!! we as a society should never accept general and constant xenophobia for such stupid reasons!!
