To conclude, we basically learnt nothing about the game itself. Powers and investigations are described pretty vaguely and pretty much everything everyone already expected with the whole timeline/dimension shift thing.

In terms of Max's background, Chloe and relevant Arcadia bay stuff are all relegated to the background (Max and Chloe probably separated for some reasons or never together to begin with in bae timeline I guess) so they don't have to account for anything regarding Max's past story except for having a "traumatic background" and it make sense for her to want a new beginning/"clean slate" no matter what you choose.

I'm...conflicted. On the one hand, probably the only way to justify having a sequel with two drastically different endings and still making one coherent story. On the other, yes both endings are traumatic, but they are traumatic in such different ways, they would absolutely affect Max in different ways that I'm worried they just won't address. Besides neither of which would really justify Max having/using another power to prevent yet another death the same way like before?

It just really feels like a repeat of the first game without really accounting for the first game? Like the characters feel similar from what we've seen, there's yet another campus setting, yet another murder mystery with superpowers... idk too soon to tell yet, but I am worried for now.

Game play looks neat, we also have those music moments back (yay(:), Max's voice is growing on me and much more nostalgic than I thought it would be, the graphics (while not stylized like the first game) is still pretty.

We also learn that Max uses blue tooth earphone and digital cameras now. So yay modern technology?

everything i hear about double exposure and pricefield’s possible break up hurts me so much because what do you mean. What do you mean These Two broke up. it doesn’t make any sense

“max’s newest adventure being as hesitant about its LGBTQ+ themes as the first game was 10 years ago, they will be pleasantly surprised.” yes, i am??????? don’t nod entertainment has posted pricefield on # national girlfriend day, they concluded the pair’s ending with the fact that they are staying in US after the storm and now Lives Together. max has always been open on how much she liked chloe. they heavily agreed on never leaving each other. they heavily agreed on never leaving each other!!!!!!!!!

Double Exposure was good, the haters are overreacting.

Chloe was never going to be a big part of the game. She's dead in half the playthroughs. It's completely believable that she and Max would break up in the bae timeline. Have you met Chloe? That level of immaturity combined with extreme teenage trauma x2 is not conducive to an immediately perfect relationship. They've been glued together for 10 years with no room to grow into their own individual people as adults. They need a break. Also the DE romance options are very flirty and casual and don't take away from Pricefield at all. It's literally so easy to imagine that Chloe and Max get back together in a few years.

The people protesting this game are missing out.

i've never been a person to publicly rant about games like this, but considering how life is strange is one of my favorite franchises ever, and how it's being absolutely SHIT on by the current devs and publisher..

we need to talk.

i was there during the OG days of the original game's release. granted, i was only 14 and a dumb teenager, but i definitely used tumblr when people called this game "life is tumblr".

i remember the theories. i remember the lets plays. i remember the excruciating wait between episodes. the fanart. the fanfics. i remember the extreme disappointment with the endings, but also how people came to.. accept them. to some degree.

that won't happen this time.

d9 and square enix fumbled this franchise so hard by putting out this new "so-called" sequel to the first game. the blatant disrespect for the characters created by dontnod, who seemed to put actual love into their characters, is just fucking insane.

i'm not a huge shipper in general, but even *i* know, as someone who was there during the original release, how much a profound impact pricefield have had on people. hell, it even helped 14 year old me, who struggled with massive internal homophobia, already at that point start to question my sexuality.

pricefield helped me become comfortable with who i am.

to reduce their relationship to something as.. people moving on because its realistic??? it's a fucking supernatural game. there's nothing realistic about it. there's already such a HUGE lack of *happy* sapphic relationships, and pricefield was one of those that deserved a happier outcome. you're essentially punishing those who picked bae, but also bay-ers by staining chloe's memory. making her seem like nothing more than an bitch in both endings.

we waited 10 years for this bullshit?

it's so fucking obvious that these corpo assholes hate chloe and everything she stands for, and that we should forget about her. ironic really, considering they made a whole ass game about her in BTS. what even *happened*?

"move on". hell, it's literally *written* in the game. they're trying to essentially reboot max so they can keep pushing new games with her.

if pricefield is truly dead, with 0 chance of coming back because they wants us to "move on" - i hope life is strange is over. i hope whatever plan they have for another shallow entry in the series crashes and burns. the fans deserve better, and so does the d9 devs that might've pushed against this happening in the first place.

whatever the full release may be (which, going by devs statements and leaks won't be any better), know this:

this game doesn't have to be canon.

you can ignore it.

ok ok actual unpopular opinion I'm prepared to get shippers in my inbox sending me death threats for this but as much as I adore pricefield (prefer amberprice but chloe has TWO hands) I actually don't hate that they're broken up in DE. like it's devastating of course but I think it makes sense for both characters and I certainly don't think it undermines any of what they have or what happened in the original LIS, like they clearly still have that love for each other but their lives and mental states just weren't compatible at that point in their lives, and it doesn't mean theyll never reconnect in a significant way in the future, whether that be romantically or platonically. All the people saying 'this makes no sense for who they are as characters!!' are forgetting that the characters they're familiar with are 18yo girls, these women are pushing 30!! they've changed!! are you the same person you were 10 years ago?? not to mention people's reactions to trauma and how they process it is very different and often unpredictable. and honestly even if all this weren't the case, the people writing off the game entirely just because their ship isn't 'canon' anymore need to re-evaluate whether they ever appreciated the story as a whole at all or were only in it for the shipping, in which case fanfic is your friend my dude! despite what a lot of people think, max and Chloe's romance not being endgame doesn't invalidate the importance of the original story at all. if you don't wanna play it I'm not gonna say you have to obviously but acting like it's ruined because of the pricefield break up is kinda ridiculous imho. anyway.
