How do monster stats work?

What would someone see if they "Checked" one of the skeletons?

Ehehehehe finally this question is getting answered!!!

Ok so when someone performs a “check”, they see five things: LV, HP, DF, AT and status

LV:

Level of love, or basically how many kills this monster has had. This stat will show as 0 for any monster/human who’s never killed, a first kill is set firmly at 1 and the number increases slowly with the more violence the monster/human has performed.

LV climbs slowly, so high numbers are a lot harder to achieve than you think. The majority of fell monsters only have an LV around 1-3, and the highest number in recorded history was Laios the Violent, a ruler in outerfell during the war between monsters and humans. His LV was said to be 35 before he finally died. Truly a beast.

The highest LV of all the skeletons would be coffee who has a solid 9. Next is butch who has a 8.7.

Monsters who are LV sick and past the controllable stages LV stat will change to a fuzzy unreadable blob instead of a number.

HP:

This stat reflects the status of the body, mind and souls health. For humans, their number rarely goes down for emotional damage except in moments of crisis, but for monsters who’s souls are directly connected to their bodies, strong emotional damage can read the same as actually being physically damaged

The average HP of a healthy human is between 500-800, and the average HP of a healthy monster is between 450- 600.

The base number of a humans/monsters HP can be increased or decreased based on how fit they are mentally and physically, so often a persons base number fluctuates over time.

Monsters with dimming never see their HP go past 100

Any monster who becomes a royal gets a massive boost to their HP through the ritual, putting them at average 1600-2200.

DF:

DF, or the defense stat, is a number describing how sturdy one is against magical attacks. Defense has nothing to do with actual physical armor and cannot be increased by any outside force.

The average DF for humans is very narrow, between 30-40. For monsters it’s a lot more flexible with any number between 1-100.

Through intense training of one’s magic, it is possible to increase DF, but it really doesn’t change too much. Masters at combat often report their stat only going up a couple points over their whole lifetime

AT:

AT describes the power behind a monsters magic attack, not their physical attacks or strength.

AT is a stat that only appears in humans who have access to their souls, so it only shows in witches. In a normal human, the spout where a check shows AT is left blank

AT can range anywhere between 1-100 for monsters, and for mages and witches that range increases to 1-130.

For royals, they get a boost of 35 to their AT in addition to whatever their base number was before

AT is directly related to HP so, when a healthy monster/witch trains and gets fitter, they can see their AT increase, as well as when they become sickly it decreases. Its rates of increase and decrease are much smaller than HP though.

The average monster will lie between 15-30 in AT, above average is 31-45 and anything beyond that is considered incredibly talented regardless of monster type

STATUS:

The status is a very brief summary of how that person is doing. It usually shows as a short sentence like “darling is craving something sugary” or “mister is anxious about his upcoming test”. It rarely goes into detail unless the monster being checked wants someone to see what they can’t say.

Here’s a little example of what you’d see in a check, using sans!

And last but not least, a few more facts about checks

It’s considered very rude and invasive to perform a check without permission, one never does this to a stranger unless they’re sure they’ll win a fight with them lol.

When a human joins a coven and trains to be a witch, the first spell they’ll learn is how to perform a check

In order to become a professional fighter (magic sparring) one needs a DF stat of at least 15 or higher. Anything lower than that is considered a high risk for permanent injury and won’t be allowed in any competitions.

In order to join the royal guard, you need a minimum of 10 DF and 15 AT.

The royal with the highest DF is Asgore with a whopping 89

The royal with the highest AT is toriel with a whopping 105.

It’s impossible to hide performing a check as it’s a very “loud” sensation. People have described their soul being checked as similar to feeling their insides being “wrapped up”. It’s not painful, but definitely uncomfortable if you’re not expecting it.

He's used to violence, to cause fear, and getting what he wants, so being in a healthy relationship would require a lot of patience and strenght. While he's getting better and suppressing those violent actions, there will be times where he accidentally uses violence or threatens the other person unintentionally, mostly hurting himself and his partner psychologically. He can't see himself as someone who can love or be loved, so he can't accept the love he's seeking for in case that turns him "weaker" making his true self confront with the protective mean personality he's created. "The song we wrote is wrong. It NEEDS to be live." She grabs a notebook out of her bag. "Do your guys know how to read music?" She's writing frantically. Joint resting in her mouth as she pulls and exhales out of her nose.

"GOD DAMN. She's sexy as FUCK when she's crazy." Colson can't help but think.

"Rook, Baze and AJ do..." He answers, sitting up, trying to catch up with her. He's never seen her move like this in the morning. EVER.

"Can you?" She continues, hands flying across the page. Still smoking the joint with only her mouth.

"I'll teach you." She asserts. Her hands still flying across the paper. She finally sets back, looking at the paper, satisfied. "C'mon" she says standing up. Nodding her head, finally handing the joint to Colson. "We have work to do." She tosses over her naked shoulder, heading into the bathroom and turning on the water.

Colson lays back down, hitting the joint long and hard "She's fucking right." He thinks "I knew it last night." As he climbs out of bed to join her in the shower, he's starting to hate how she's always right. Smiling to himself, he hits the joint again.

Luna's running over the chords with Rook, Baze, Colson and AJ. Slim is talking to Butch, going over what she already discussed with them. This is new for Slim but right up Butch's alley.

She looks over to Colson. "Watch me." she says. They're sitting, each with one of his Fenders in their laps. "You're gonna run a solo, before my chorus out." She tells him, running through it. Eyes meeting his. It's easy for him to pick up, it's his original beat, only strung out on a guitar. He loves it. They run through it again, Colson throwing in his own twist to her enthusiastic satisfaction.

In the booth, behind the piano, she looks at the guys. "We're gonna run through once for a feel, then cut it live." They all nod in agreeance.

She begins playing the piano.

As she ends the lyric 🎶I'm all in, there is no maybe🎶 Rook slams into the drums with a rat-a-tat-tat before hitting the kick drum hard. AJ's riff slides in violently, Colson's right with him, as Baze drops in with his bass. Before Colson jumps on the beat, they all stop on instinct. Luna beams. Everyone looks around feeling the immediate electricity. "I think we can run it." She says, wide smile with a knowing look. Feeling confident, they all agree. She looks at Butch, swirling her black painted index finger into a circle. He nods.

She waits for his cue before she starts playing the opening chords on the piano. She hits the notes deep and passionately. Rook comes, slamming into the drums, as Colson's rides the beat of AJ's guitar smoothly while playing along side him. Baze's rhythm weaving them all together. The electricity in the booth is uncontrollable. Everyone feels the hype letting their own instrument drop out, then showcase itself again. Luna and Colson still teasing and singing to each other, like the day before. Only looser and louder, freestyling along the way. After her hook, Rook hits hard.

Colson and Luna sing together, across her piano and his guitar. Bodies throbbing for each other before Colson kicks flawlessly into his guitar solo, soaking Luna. The band is playing with everything they have each instrument blending with the other, BOOMING, before slowly fading out. She leads them with the chorus, showcasing her vocals.

🎶All things you say, all the things you do, make me fall more in love with you. Oh, Bunny, I don't wanna escape it. I'm all in. There is no maybe🎶 She finishes to Colson letting her piano and voice play them out with her devilish smile, lips throbbing for him.

"FUUUUUUUUUCKKKKK!!!!!! I HATE YOU!! THAT WAS SO MUCH BETTER!!" Colson laughs, pulling off his headphones and swinging his guitar behind his back to scoop her up from behind the piano. He kisses her deeply. Rook slams a beat into his drums.

Butch comes over their headphones "We got it, guys." Nodding his head with Slim through the glass. Confirming what they all know. Luna is beaming with relief.

"FUUUUUUCKKKKK!!!!" She excitedly screams back, gripping Colson tightly.

"So much better, Kitten." He whispers into her ear.

She squeezes him tighter with her whole body. Then shouts out "This deserves a FUCKING celebration!!!!" as Colson carries her out of the booth into the studio.

"THAT WAS FUCKING FIRE!!" Slim thinks, looking over at an impressed Butch.

One is about how marriages work back then, I did research but I'm little confused? And second didn't Lu Xun's cousin going married Zhu Ran, when we last saw him? I probably as about Taoism and Coufusiom( sorry for butched this up). I'm looking forward to see what happens.

You clarified in a second ask that in your first question you were asking about getting married without family.

(Caveat: all answers are broad strokes and from memory, also I am liberally sprinkling this with my personal biases, do not use this post to write a paper for class.)

Okay so whenever you ask questions about the 3rd century in China, you’re trying to get at what actually happened via 1. what they wrote about it at the time (that survived to the present day through being copied/edited through later centuries) and 2. what people wrote about it later using oral and no longer extant written sources (that survived to the present day with the same caveat about copies and edits).

So in terms of knowing what was actually going on, there are many big obstacles. One is, of course, that people often write down what they think should be happening, not what is happening; that one generation thinks a previous generation was too licentious or too prudish, too savage or too lenient; that people write to make their side look good; that people write to tell a moral or an exciting story without regard to facts; etc etc etc.

There’s also a specific problem in Chinese history which is that Chinese history had this (in my opinion) absolutely insane custom where the emperor’s name was taboo. But you couldn’t just not say/write the emperor’s name, but also every character that sounded like it. This in a language that is FULL of homonyms!!!! So people writing down a history in the year 500 using a source from the year 400 will be avoiding using all words that sound like their emperor’s name, and the source avoids using all words that sound like THEIR emperor’s name. CRAZY!

(Sima Zhao, seen here surfing on an enemy’s body, is responsible for a lot of this because of having been emperor when some of this was being recorded.)

Now because Confucianism values ceremony extremely highly, we do have very good records of what Confucians believed weddings ought to be like via a selection of the Confucian canon called the Five Classics. However, there is a problem, which is that what Confucians believed weddings should involve is kind of wack, and to be blunt, I find it hard to believe that even very strict Confucians would be able to reproduce it. Also, remember that the Three Kingdoms era is actually 800 years after Confucius.

I would summarize Confucianism as basically:

People are essentially good and can be even better if you teach them how to do so

There are probably gods and spirits, respect them, probably don’t think about them too much, definitely don’t fuck with them

There’s a Right Way for everything to interact

It’s really important that everybody uses the correct names and correct words

Because Confucianism saw the family unit as a bedrock of society, they spent a lot of time writing about how families should be constructed, how they should behave internally and externally, how they should interact. Polygyny is assumed, however, it should be noted that like most societies, only the very richest and most powerful men can accumulate multiple women, with only the very very very richest having something that people would recognize as a harem.

Obviously the situation of orphans would have been even more familiar to people of ancient China than now, and in such cases, there is a two-prong approach wherein in some respects some other person acts as the parents, but also that the parents as deceased ancestors are still honoured.

Even though there was a Confucian ideal of marriage, there would have absolutely been suboptimal versions, shotgun weddings, and of course “fuck you, I’m the ruler around here, I do what I want”.

Since in Clouds and Rain I do away with polygamy as part of a real bare minimum in improvement of the status of women, I was even freer in my depiction of wedding customs.

If you reread the chapter “非誠勿擾 (If You’re Not Serious, Don’t Bother)”, Lianshi played 4d chess with everybody. Zhu Ran was bothering Xingcai with his insincere flirtations, and Zhang Bao and Lu Yusheng were crushing on each other but wouldn’t act; Lianshi solved both problems by suggesting that Zhu Ran pursue Lu Yusheng in Zhang Bao’s hearing.

So (spoiler, but not a biggie, as they are very much a minor background couple) Zhang Bao married Lu Yusheng.

To be the Best(Kanto): A Pokémon Fanfic Chapter 1: Brother and Sister

“Brrring, Brrring” The ringing of a telephone broke the silence of an otherwise dead quiet building. Not three rings in, and the call was answered by a purple haired woman with fiery red glasses to match her eyes and a mahogany colored business suit.

“You’ve reached Team Rocket headquarters, this is Matori speaking, how may I transfer your call?” She asked into the other line. If one was far enough way, only incoherent babbling could be heard, but Matori, keeping the receiver close to her ear listened to every word and smiled, “I’ll get him on the line as soon as possible.” Matori pressed a button on the intercom next to her and spoke into it, “Sir, you have a call from the Saffron City prison, I’m transferring it to you right now.” In what seemed like nanoseconds, Matori no longer took to the call, instead, a tall man shrouded in shadows took over, his sleek beige cat Pokémon Persian on his lap, napping away and allowing its master to stroke it.

“This is Giovanni speaking, if this is Jessie and James calling, hang up now.” The man said before a few seconds of silence. “Ah, Butch and Cassidy, my favorite cohorts, what is it you need this time? Another bail out of prison? I’d be happy to do so.” The man’s assumption was shot down as the conversation continued, “I see... yes... a marvelous idea... perhaps with that insolent child away at who knows where, we can finally get some things done around here... We’ll follow through with your plan... The Kanto region will never suspect a thing...” Giovanni chuckled darkly as he hung up and continued to pet his Persian.

“Mrrrr... Miaow...” Persian happily cooed as its master pet it affectionately.

“Soon, my pet, we’ll have all of Kanto to ourselves, everyone, that’s EVERYONE will answer to only one name: Team Rocket!”

The World of Pokémon, a place filled with creatures and people of all shapes and sizes, though it may seem impossible, humans and Pokémon have been together since the dawn of time, and have grown and evolved to share the small world with which they inhabit. Some people use Pokémon to fight each other in hopes of one day becoming Pokémon Masters. Others have them as pets, and some even use them for research purposes. With 18 elemental types and over 800 creatures in the world with more being discovered day by day, the world continues to flourish and adapt to make these two species continue to coexist in harmony even amongst conflict.

In the beautiful Kalos region, a small sleepy town by the name of Vaniville received a special wake up call when a bright red and white bird Pokémon flew in from the sky and landed on the mailbox of one house, reached into its bag-like tail, and pulled out an envelope before finally depositing it into the slot of the mailbox.

A young teenage boy watched the sight in anticipation and wonder from the window on the inside. He had messy dark grey hair, almost black, and lighter grey eyes, as well as a bright yellow sweater, concealing a navy blue t-shirt underneath, which matched his pants, and black shoes to match his hair. As soon as the Pokémon deposited its mail, the boy ran outside and smiled brightly.

“Thanks, Delibird!” He shouted as he waved goodbye to the mail Pokémon

“Deli-Deli!” It cried, waving back before flying off into the horizon.

The boy excitedly opened the mailbox and saw the very same envelope Delibird had delivered, not taking into account any other letters the Pokémon may have dropped off.

“Addressed to: Francois Robin Jr...” He read as he tore open the envelope hastily, praying in his head that what he opened contained what he was so desperately waiting for. He closed his eyes tightly and reached inside. Thin pieces of paper, rectangular shaped, two by four feeling. He narrowly and slowly opened one eye... and the other one shot open in excitement when he finally unveiled the contents: two tickets for a one-way trip to the Kanto region. “Yes!” He shouted before running excitedly back inside, “Maria! Sis! Maria!” He cried as he entered his room, amongst all the Pokémon books that stood tall on his bookshelf next to his bed that had its covers cast aside to the floor, there was another bed in the same room, this one was fluffier and pure white, in contrast to Francois’s maroon red bed sheets. In the bed was a teenage girl, about Francois’s age, but perhaps a month or so younger, unlike her brother, her hair was light brown, which complimented her hazelnut eyes, and her pajamas were light pink, she had her head buried underneath her pillow and groaned.

“Frankie... What time is it...? Can’t it wait til I wake up...?” She complained groggily.

“Yeah, it could, but then we might miss our flight...” Frankie said, this comment piqued Maria’s interest as she lifted the pillow from her head and groggily stared at her brother.

“Flight? What are you talking about?” She asked with a yawn as she rubbed her eyes.

“Only... THIS!” Frankie wasted no time in shoving the tickets to Kanto right in Maria’s face, and just like that, she was wide awake and snatched one from him in awe.

“No way! They came?! For real?!” She asked

“Yeah! I got up at 6:00 just to make sure I got them the moment they arrived!”

“You got up at 6?” Maria scratched her head in confusion, “You went to sleep at 5:00 if I’m not mistaken...”

“I know! I’m really sleepy and I wanna drop dead from exhaustion right now! But I can’t and I won’t! This is too good to disrespect with a fainting spell! Maria! 14 long years of waiting... And today’s the day we finally become Pokémon trainers!”

“No fooling! I need to get ready!” Though Frankie knew Maria well as being laid back and somewhat lazy, he was happy to see her as ecstatic as he was about such an occasion. When both were infants and needed to be occupied for a bit while their parents focused on something, Frankie and Maria were sat down in front of the TV to watch official Pokémon league battles. Maria watched in intrigue, but Frankie couldn’t believe his eyes, the biggest and toughest Pokémon were what piqued his interest the most, as such a small young man, showing off with a huge Charizard or Gyarados would be sure to strike fear into opposing people’s hearts and make them think twice before messing with him.

During summer months, while Maria watched tv, exclusively Pokémon related shows be it mystery or cartoon, Frankie was reading every last bit of information on Pokémon he could. He didn’t know when exactly he would become a trainer, but he wanted to be ready for it, as such, he was able to memorize nearly all known Pokémon’s movesets, typing, evolution lines, and locations to find them, and while catching them all wasn’t a goal of his, he did want to one day stand with the best, no matter how long it took, and as a growing boy, seeing a few pretty faces here and there was a bonus to his eventual travels.

While Maria wasn’t nearly as well versed in Pokémon as her brother, her consistent viewing of Pokémon related shows opened her eyes to all the kinds of moves Pokémon could learn, and whether or not they were good, she just had to see the moves executed in real life for once.

Frankie was in the kitchen making breakfast, bacon sandwiches with fresh Moo Moo Cheese, in anticipation for Maria to make herself presentable, though the smell of delicious food attracted someone else, his father. His father was huge, dark skinned and somewhat squinty eyed, his hair was jet black like his sons, but his eyes were as brown as his daughters, the two take a lot more from their mother, who had moved to the Alola Region in the far South to pursue a more well paying job opportunity, but both sides still keep in touch, and remain loyal to each other even to this day.

“Good morning, son.” Frankie’s father said in his deep rumble voice, not too different from a Charizard’s.

“Hey, Papa, breakfast is ready!” Frankie replied, causing the older man to chuckle

“That’s my boy, ah, if your mother could see you now... and she said getting you involved in the culinary world would be a waste of time!” At this point, Frankie’s father, formally known as Mr. Robin grabbed a sandwich and helped himself to Orange Juice, “I hear Maria in the shower, is today what I think it is?”

“Yeah! I was getting a little worried, but the tickets finally came!” Frankie showed his father the tickets, who let out a booming laugh

“Good! Good! You’ve been waiting too long for this day! If you ever get to Alola, make sure you tell Mom I said Hello, and that I’m ready to cook for her once she gets home.” Mr. Robin tussled his son’s hair, earning a chuckle from him

“I will, Papa... I hope my first Pokémon will grow to be big and tough just like you! I want a Charmander! Getting to fly on the back of a huge hulking Charizard, breathing fire, striking terror into people among the mountains and on the ground, riding into battle—“

“Well, I don’t need to ask if you’re excited, I suppose! Maria must be too if she’s up this early!” At that very moment, Maria came into kitchen

“Morning bro, morning Pop!” She said, rejuvenated from her slumber. Maria donned a mahogany colored sweater with brown leggings and boots and a pair of dark purple suspenders. Her outfit complimented her brown eyes and sharp light brown hair done up in a ponytail well. “Is that breakfast I smell?”

“Sure is, better start eating up, we don’t wanna miss our flight!” Frankie said as Maria grabbed a sandwich

“Wait, you just barely got your tickets today, the day of your flight?” Mr. Robin asked

“If we’re blaming anyone, it should be the mail people” Maria said with her mouth full before swallowing, “Frankie’s been keeping updated on the delivery of the tickets ever since he ordered them.”

“I was crying two nights before thinking they’d never come in” Frankie admitted

“Well, whatever. You two best get a move on in that case. Your old man can guard the fort all by himself well enough.” Mr. Robin glanced at a Poké Ball on a shelf hanging above the kitchen cupboards, right next to it was a photo of him when he was ten years old and a small chubby blueish Pokémon, a Munchlax, and next to that picture was him a little older with his fully evolved Snorlax.

“We know, Papa...” Frankie said as he and Maria hugged their father tightly, “We’ll miss you...”

“Yeah... But you’re gonna do good, ok? Good looks ain’t the only things you took from papa, eh?” Mr. Robin asked his son as he ruffled his hair, earning a chuckle from him. “Same goes for you, Maria, it’ll be good for you to get moving around anyway.”

“Yeah... Moving around...” Maria said with a slight smirk, thinking of the pleasant thought of getting a large flying Pokémon for her to ride on when her feet got tired.

“Now I love you two very much, but you need to get out of here! Quick! Go go go go!”

“You’re right, papa! We love you too! We’ll see you later!” Frankie said as he ran in place in anticipation, followed by Maria saying,

“If we don’t come back, tell our story!”

“Don’t say that!” Frankie yelled as Maria chuckled, both rushing out the door and into town as their father smiled.

“Good luck you too...” He said before looking to the sky, wondering what their mom would say had she been there.

The plane was a distant walk over to the grand Lumiose City, so Frankie And Maria had to pick up the pace as quick as possible.

“Maria, come on! Get those feet moving!” Frankie cried, his sleeplessness seemingly gone away in exchange for pure excitement, as Maria walked behind him

“I would if you slowed down!” She complained

“If I slow down we’ll miss our flight! And I’m not missing our flight! Cuz if we do, I’ll snap.”

“Still... It’ll be a while ‘til we can see Kalos again... How about we power walk and take everything in one last time?”

“Well... I suppose that’s... not a bad idea.” Frankie then turned to the wilderness that existed beyond his home town, “Don’t worry, Kalos! We’ll be exploring you soon!”

“Well said! Continue to lead the way, bro! At a slower place...”

“Yeah... sure thing...” He said with a slight blush, and with that, the two young siblings were off on their own for the very first time, expecting to see many new things. Whether it be Pokémon not native to Kalos, beautiful women and attractive men, different smells, or even the fresh tasting Kantonian air, both couldn’t be any more excited. However, their anticipation would be met with something much, much more different than anticipated...

2018 was the worst year of my life. I went through 3 losses in the matter of hours, and one of the darkest depressions I’ve ever been in. I will never truly tell my friends about the awful things i said, did, or thought. I love them too much for that. 

The one loss that hit me the hardest was the death of my Uncle, David Linn Jr., my uncle, father figure, best friend, and soulmate. words cannot describe how dear he was to me, and how much I love(d) him. It tore a gaping wound in my heart and soul when he passed. So far the bleeding has stopped, but the scars will remain for eternity. Along with my Uncle, I also lost my grandmother Beth, and my Uncle Butch. They will all forever be loved and missed dearly. If you ever feel suicidal, remember that you are worth it, and no matter what you are loved by at least someone out there. And I love you. Your life is worth living. That Green Gentleman - Panic! At the Disco = so I started re-listening to really old P!ATD songs, which really take me back to being a little emo in like highschool (didn’t know this song was about weed back then alkdasl). Pretty Odd is also one of my favourite

Hard Times - Paramore = I’m still not over the new Paramore album. Every song is amazing but Hard Times really stood out to me because it was released right when I was literally chased out of where I was living at the time because of transphobes. So It was just so perfect.

 What I Won’t Do - Leon Else = Never really heard of him before but he came up in my spotify discover weekly and I’m here for any music that has an 80′s pop vibe and his lyrics just instantly made me wonder if the artist was gay. Turns out he just came out and this song was his first sort of “coming out” song. Those universal gay feelings.
