Andrew watches as Aaron and Katelyn still for a moment, "Yeah, Josten's always like fancy cars."

"Excuse me for just a minute." Katelyn smiles at the two of them getting up from her seat, grabbing her phone and heading towards the bathroom. "The twins are kicking my bladder."

Andrew narrows his eyes since Katelyn usually hates bringing those kinds of things up but lets it go in the moment, "I'm sure he's sick of driving in his boyfriend's mom van."

Aaron spits out his drink.

Tried knocking out pebble mastery in a solo run only to get annoyed because of Vee in the recent storage/garage layout 😭😭😭

#the map is so small it was painful trying to get even 1 machine done since I was on floor 19 ans there were four twisteds (Vee included ofc #I wasn’t even able to get the 4th machine done before dying.. there was shrimpo brightney ans poppy all roaming around near if 24/7 #couldn’t get near it for the life of me 😭😭 finally died after running out of stamina trying to get away from Vee #I REALLY hope some changes are gonna be made to that map since it’s like. the worst one out of all of them so far #ist even worse when you have a full party of people. had a run once with a full 8 people and it was hard for the kiters to-#actually kite the twisteds since there’s little to no space other than around the elevators which still leaves just barely enough to do so #anyway little rant over it really pissed me off man 😭🙏🏽#nut.txt

day 19 - auroraboros / ouroborealis

i don't have any lore for this one it's pretty self explanatory.

honestly why does no one ever talk about how utterly insane aurora borealis is????? there's literally just magic shifting colorful lights in the sky sometimes in some places. why is this not a focal point of tons of pop culture media? we act like that's just normal, nobody speaks about it with utter awe, it's just a thing that exists to us.

not that i mind that it isn't a massive focal point of pop culture. my own little slice of underappreciated wonder.

i recently realized i didn't even know what causes aurora borealis. i could not possibly even fathom it. it may as well have literally been magic to me. i rarely get something like that anymore. some amazing phenomenon, the origins of which i could never imagine. that whimsy, the magic of the unknown, is a scarcity these days as we learn more and more about the world. no stone unturned, no event unexplained.

about a week later i learned what it was.

i'm going to spare you from that information. you may look it up if you so wish. or you may continue to live in wonder.

i think this is the beginning of my obsession with aurora borealis.

i'd love to see it some day.

you ever think about how pretty much the only reason we use base10 is because we have 10 fingers and if everyone had 6 fingers on each hand we'd use base12 and never even think a thing of it and also math would be pretty much better in every way?

#i think for this september's existential crisis i'm gonna become a base12 truther #and bc i know everyone on this website is math illiterate so to clarify:#the way base12 works is that we have a few extra digits between 9 and 10 #so to count we go:#0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 X Y #so X = 10 and Y = 11 #then '10' = 12 #so the next step of counting goes:#10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 1X 1Y #(i know this looks insane to you but the only reason for that is because you are used to base 10 i promise this makes sense #if you throw away everything you know and come at it with fresh eyes)#so anyways in this case '11' = 13. '19' = 21. 1X = 22. 1Y = 23 #and '20' = 24 #bc the tens column is not the tens column it's actually the twelves column #so each [number] in the second column does not mean 'add [this many] 10s to this' it means 'add [this many] 12s to this'#and this would not be tricky at higher numbers bc in base12 twelve is not counted as 'ten and two' it's just its own thing #in fact it would be harder to multiply by tens bc 10 would be the equivalent of like. 8 here.#it's not its own thing (ten) it's actually 'twelve minus two'#to count by tens goes '0 Y 18 26 34 42 50' and '50' is of course 10x6 in this case so it equals 60 in base10 #not hard #there's a pattern to it.#but it's not as easy as counting by 12s #anyways we already have base12 systems and i like them they are very easy to divide #it's only harder than base10 bc arabic numerals are base10 so it's harder to depict base12 logically in a base10 system #hours are base 12. inches to feet are base 12 #anyways this post is legally classified as scifi and/or speculative fiction #or. fuck. it's not even fictional #this is how math would work in a different system #sci-nonfi #speculative nonfiction

The scrimmages continue and Andrew takes special joy in stopping Josten’s shots. They’re far far trickier than even what Kevin has managed against him in their games, Josten’s agility making it hard for Andrew to track. Andrew remembers seeing an article that he was moving to the one team that had the striker he struggled with the most.

He scowls when Josten gets another shot by him, the 2nd in the scrimmage, his scowl deepens when their coach calls time, but stops himself from doing something as fundamentally Kevin as demanding that they go for regulation time on the scrimmage. Practice is called to a close shortly after that and Andrew makes his way to the lockers.

“Nice shots today Neil!” he hears their captain compliment.
