Summary: All James Bond wanted was a quiet holiday on his luxury motoryacht on the Costa del Sol. Time to recuperate and think about his future with MI6. But his plans get hijacked when a traitor to the crown returns, bringing news of an even greater threat to MI6. And the traitor isn't working alone.

Thankfully, neither is James.

This is absolutely wonderfully written. There’s a well thought out plot, characters that feel real, and the greatest OC that I’ve encountered in a long time. Love it.

Summary: What if there really were monsters in the shadows? What if James Bond was one of them?

This is the cutest, sweetest, most precious fic series ever. Very fluffy indeed! Andy (Q’s new pet) is absolutely adorable (I want an Andy of my own! 🩷), and Bond as a monster is a very intriguing concept. Also, Q’s virginity is a thing here, but it fits the plot well.

Suddenly I see a big fair one, a very handsome young man. You know how I like the fair ones. I chose him; I gave him the signal, oh so subtly, so very subtly. He nods at once and, Mon Dieu, he comes straight in, ma chère!”

This fic has a charming writing style that also feels very authentic. I love how the characters are true to themselves while also feeling like they belong in the fic’s time period. And I absolutely adore Q in this, he’s the cutest.

I��ll Be Your Light, Your Match, Your Burning Sun | 00Q pre-relationship / gen | M | by Only_1_Truth

Summary: In an MI6 where Dragons, Basalisks, Cerberii and all sorts of other creatures exist, Q is a lowly Level Three Fury who's innate ability to drain away the rage in others is mediocre at best. Still, he watches wistfully when the official Fury of MI6 interacts with all of the 00-agents. Sure, being the Quartermaster is probably less dangerous than dealing with the Dragons of MI6... but Q wonders if the risk would be worth the reward?

He gets his chance to find out when a mission with 007 goes bad, and Q is stick with thirteen-stone of enraged Dragon on his hands.

Q's got a choice: step up or step out. He can either rise to the occasion and play Fury... or play the odds of Bond going absolutely ballistic on the world at large. Either way, the fallout will be fantastic...

This is adorable, well-written and beautifully fluffy with lots of feels. One of the fics I keep returning to over and over again when I need a pick-me-up.

James Bond is used to dropping off the grid, faking his own death, and finishing a mission on his own terms. But maybe it's time for him to consider the impact that approach has on the people left behind.

(In which Bond allows Q to think he's dead for about a week, and then returns to London and realizes that might not have been the kindest thing to do, and he may have to stop and consider a few things about his life...specifically, his attachment to Q.)

I’m gonna be dRaMaTiC here in Bookmarks.

This fic wrecked me. And I’m oddly grateful for that experience. It may sound like I’m being flip or sarcastic, but that’s the opposite of my intent.

The way @cicerfics used words to craft this story reached into a deep part of my soul and got me questioning not just what I know or think about a relationship between Q and Bond (and it did do that!), but also how I, personally, at.this.point.in.my.life, love other people and how I perceive the love I receive from them. Not just with my life long partner, but also with my kids and dear friends.

Make no mistake, this is FABULOUS WONDERFUL a M a Z i N g story about the MI6 Quartermaster and 007! It’s so freaking poignant I have a new standard for that adjective. It’s stunningly beautiful, but not pretty. We see each character undergo transformation because they, one more begrudgingly than the other, acknowledge the feelings they have for each other. There’s depth and intimacy and insights and reflections. It’s a story I’ll re-read many times over.

Maybe when you read it you’ll have a different experience than I did. If so, wonderful! And isn’t THAT the gift of stories?! They have the potential to impact us in a variety of ways and sometimes not at all.

But this one? Yeah. Damn.

So without further ado, may I present a list of some of my favorite fics based on one of my favorite tropes, James Bond taking care of Q. 🥰 In no particular order:

When the Morning Light Explodes by Mlle_Heloise. A perfect example of a sickfic, and also introduced me to one of my new favorite songs!

Please Ask (for Help) by @samanthahirr. One of my all time favorite fics ever. The slow burn pining while Bond helps Q recover from an injury is just ::chef's kiss::.

then that's what we will have to do by @mr-iskender. Fluff? by Alex??? more likely than you might think! I adore this piece, featuring Bond taking care of an exhausted Q so incredibly much. Also features one of my favorite examples of the "miscommunication/misunderstanding" trope ever.

Where You Are by dhampir72. Another one of my very favorite sickfics ever. The tenderness in this one is everything. Mind the tags, but don't worry about the fact that the fic looks like it's unfinished based on the chapter count--IMHO, it ends in a perfect place.

The Cumulative Effects of Dining In with One's Quartermaster by @dassandre-00qpidsarrow. This fic also features an exhausted/hungry/overworked Q, and it is so gentle and lovely and kind and everything you could possibly want. I love it so much.
