Pokemon: Shiny vs. Default, 0043-0045
Good god does Gen I have a lot of Poison types. Like they are fucking everywhere on Kanto. Everything’s got a secondary Poison type for some reason.
Hey, what are the two strongest types in RGBY and FRLG? Psychic and Ground? Oh dear.
Anyway, today we’re tackling Oddish and its first two evolutions. Bellossom’s time will come, but not for a while. As a kid I fuckin’ hated these things, simply because my first game was Ruby and they they made Oddish both a relatively common Pokemon that can easily be found on Routes 110, 117, 119, 120, 121, and 123, but then it was also unreasonably common in the Safari Zone. Trying to find Heracross, Pikachu, Wobbuffet, Rhyhorn, etc? Nope, Oddish.
I’ve mellowed on it since, probably because my DS Lite and my GBA don’t work anymore so I haven’t played original Ruby in years, and ORAS is less annoying about it, but yeah, not huge on this line in general.
Still, let’s lead off with everyone’s favourite walking marijuana plant, Oddish itself.
Well, it’s green. However, these are decent shades of green, and it is a plant, so I don’t hate it in this context. As a whole, this is a pretty good shiny colour scheme, and I will give it the nod for that. Shiny wins.
Next up, Gloom.
Aaaaand we’re right back to normal. The green’s not awful, but it is worse than previously, and the flower looks wilted and dead. I’d give them points for that if it was intentional, as this is based on a flower that smells like rotting flesh, but I know it wasn’t intentional so I’m just going to award this one to the default.
And finally for today, Vileplume, the poor man’s Venusaur.
This is marginally better, with a more vibrant orange on the flower and a brighter green on the body, but still not amazing. I’m giving it to the default again.
We’ll have to see next gen whether Bellossom can claw one back for the shinies, and be a fitting final form for Oddish, but, uh, spoiler alert... it probably won’t.
Default: 38
Shiny: 19
Draw: 6

You don't have a free card in your SYLLADEX!
However, you are able to MERGE the BEAGLE PUSS with the MAGICIAN'S HAT to create a CLEVER DISGUISE.
> John: Wear disguise to fool dad.

I haven't heard people talking about this much, but I feel like it's important for people to know. Especially since SB 63 essentially bans bail funds by not allowing organizations, charities, individuals, or groups to bail out more than three people per year and requiring them to register as bonding agencies.
This is a direct response to all the protests happening here in Atlanta. So far, spreading the word can help as well as donating to The Atlanta Solidarity Fund .
In the meantime, here's some phone numbers of politicians you can go bug.
Randy Robertson (Guy who's sponsoring the bill): +1-404-656-0045
Brian Kemp (Governor of Georgia): +1-404-656-1776
