We have to remember how powerful Kali is, she really is the key against Vecna

her powers for me go beyond illusions. She can mess with the mind more than we realize, we just need to see more of it

When he was first freed, Elijah was determined to take care of himself and preserve the safety of others in the process. Though she'd extended her offer of help to him, he was repulsed at the idea of relying on Claudia for anything at all, and so he tried to satisfy his hunger by drinking the blood of animals.

He'd started with fish he could catch from the pier at the bay. When it did nothing for him, he tried moving on to other animals, small ones, rabbits, mice, chickens, even foxes. Still, nothing worked.

One night not long after he'd moved into the lighthouse, in desperation and almost frenzy Eli drained dozens of sheep from a secluded farm nearby to the village. However, no matter how many animals he consumed, it didn't touch the thirst he felt.

Both horrified by what he'd done and panicked for what may come next, he rushed home soaked in blood and locked himself in. He finally realised he had no choice — it was the first time since he'd been alone that he contacted Claudia. Naturally, she helped him. She brought him human blood, had to practically force it down his throat, calmed him through his panic, washed his hair, burned his clothes.

After that night he dared not leave the lighthouse for weeks, he was unstable until Claudia made her visits more regular. He grew to expect them, then eventually he began to figure out the minimum amount of blood he needed before he had to see her again.

The older generation of the local farmers still occasionally talk about the morning they found the pile of livestock corpses — something that later blossomed into a village horror story.
