thinking abt peach & basil today. they're two of my not-cats that live in stars' landing- one that was born in gardenhome, one that migrated from earth, very close in age. i think that they're a little bit soulmates. i think their lives are very closely intertwined, all string and all seeing someone else in reflections all your life, watching them, being watched, seeing an unfamiliar setting and wondering, realizing that they watch you in return, loving a (not) cat you havent been able to say a word to, moving to a new world at the end of your old life, realizing this is the world you have seen in the mirrors, and hoping, and hoping, and waiting, and then- of course you meet. of course. i hope you havent been here long enough that i cant show you all my favorite things about it, etc. i plan on getting them a love letter collection and some catmint tea- they'll be nice partners

part of a payment for galaxywings on pixel cats end. this is her custom cat, Lexicon -- i didn't have to draw a complicated, lineless fullbody, but after i got started i just couldn't stop. the drawing process was too fun.

If I had a nickel for every time a virtual pet website held a site-wide item collectathon to try and figure out what's going on with their water god that introduces a character with multiple pronouns and winds up granting the players a new aquatic subcategory of Obtainable Guy during June, well. I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it's happened twice.

Have you ever heard of Pixel Cats End? If you're into petsite games you might want to check it out, especially since it's just celebrating the end of beta.

I played it! It's ok!

Honestly it's a bit too "soft" for me in terms of its site tone. Accumulating a lot of cats is too easy, and in spite of having some great mechanics related to feeding your village, building infrastructure, and a fantastic relationship system, it feels like there's no consequences to anything. No one gets sick, friendships don't fall apart, there's no way to lose cats without intentionally getting rid of them, etc.

Plus, its breeding system isn't super compelling to me, because it mostly used realistic genetics. It's not like FR or later Lioden where there's a ton of crazy markings, bases, colors, and breeds. When I played PCE, it was pretty standard cats with very normal colors and markings.

Which is a shame because I LOVED how it decoupled the breeding from standard Male/Female pairings. I'd never seen that done before.

THAT SAID I'm absolutely positive that this is all a Me-Thing. I'm sure these same reasons it didn't really land with me is the same reasons why people love it so much. Most people aren't Me who likes Lioden explicitly because the lions die lmao.
