can you please give us something angsty between ethan and trouble? like how ethan texts her and she ignores the messages during the breakup. or when they run into each other in the cafeteria and trouble pretends he’s not there and walks away despite he’s calling out her name. the way trouble no longer crochets because that was her thing with ethan and it feels strange to pick up the needles and it makes her miss him.
*cleaning out my drafts!*
ethan is peter's best friend and by default, he owes you nothing.
you were a friend for the moment but once you and peter ended, so did the alliship. ethan didn't get that in the memo, but he's never made a friend through peter and lost her through him too. he keeps thinking everything is normal, like there isn't a giant peter shaped hole in the fence.
'hey, so i was thinking we could have a little study sesh at the library?'
'i'll rent out a room. and it would be just us.'
'obv.'
you miss him too sometimes. but he chose peter by default and you don't condemn him one bit for it, ally did the same with you. peter was ethan's friend first, so he should still be one when you walked away.
peter doesn't talk to ally anymore either. both friends became constant reminders of what you had and lost.
it might be a text message but you can hear ethan's voice in your head, he sounds defeated.
'i'm guessing that's a no.' you never open them but he knows you read them. it doesn't surprise ethan, you've ignored him since you dumped peter. he just never expected to be dumped too.
'i miss you.'
'i just wanna hang out with you again.'
'and if you don't want him around either that's fine with me.'
'i'll fly you somewhere in my private jet.'
'damn it. i was really hoping for a "you have a private jet???" response.'
'it's a yes btw. just because i know you're curious.'
'well, actually, it's my parents but you always say that's the same thing.'
you watch each notification appear and disappear. your teeth dig into your bottom lip to stop a smile, you can't go backwards. if you're around ethan it leads to peter and you can't do that.
ethan didn't realize there might be a reason why you haven't been texting him back, but he does now. what if you weren't replying because you weren't seeing them? he thought you were just ignoring him but it's been weeks of silence.
'did you block me too?'
he hopes not. he really, really hopes not. ethan knows why you pushed him away, he's just upset that he didn't get a say in it. ethan's never been able to tell you how sorry he is on behalf of his best friend and how he doesn't want to lose you over his idiocy.
you frown at the message, restraining your impulse to text him back, you hold your breath and wait for another message.
it comes two minutes later and your entire heart shatters.
'crochet buddy?'
you haven't been able to look at your basket of hooks and yarn, it feels wrong to finish your pig. you told ethan you kept messing up on the ears and he said he'd do them for you. he never got the chance. you wonder if he finished his lizard tail.
your thumbs move before your mind can stop you, not that it would. you had to tell him the truth, you can't have him wallow and sulk over you.
peter might deserve it but ethan doesn't.
'it would surprise me if you didn't have a private jet.'
'hey!!!!!!!!'
'don't leave yet pls.'
'let me take you out to lunch. we can go to the village or brooklyn.'
'i promise he won't find out.'
'please?'
'i miss my buddy.'
you think it's almost as painful as splitting from peter. ethan is peter's best friend and you can't get in the middle of that. it'll hurt peter just as bad and while part of you wants him to be hurt over you, you don't want to use ethan as the pawn to do it.
you back out of the conversation, lock your phone, set it down, and grab your unfinished pig before curling up with him for a nap.
---
ethan doesn't eat in kayte hall. you know he doesn't eat in kayte hall because you ate in cathedral hall with the sig nu frat.
used to.
you switched to kayte hall two weeks ago, it was an extra five minute walk but it was done with the purpose to avoid situations like this.
you try to move discreetly, it doesn't matter, he clocked you the second you sat down. you can't abandon ship, he's sliding in the seat across from you.
'you're avoiding me and i really hate it. you made me stoop so low i had to get a pledge to track you down for me.'
you're not going to give him the silent treatment, that would be plain rude.
'are you admitting to stalking me?'
'i'm admitting that i instructed someone to stalk you. are you flattered? you should be.'
'why aren't you at cathedral?'
'because you don't eat there anymore, duh. can i have a grape?' you hesitate before sliding your tray halfway up the table, he takes three.
you listen to the purple crush between his teeth, ethan looks a bit more serious after he swallows. you look at your cup, his stare makes you feel guilty.
'look, let me get this out of the way now so we don't have to talk about it again. i don't know all the details, park- peter hasn't really opened up to me about it.'
you swallow tightly, this is exactly what you didn't want to happen.
'from what i know- or pieced together, he disappointed me too. i'm sorry for whatever he did and i'm sorry it hurt you enough that i was caught in the crossfire, but between us, when i'm with you, he doesn't exist. this is the last time i'll ever talk about him, i'll offer you the same courtesy and we won't bring it up again.'
ethan's saying all the right things, you softly shrug. 'what's the courtesy?'
'you can ask me about him if you want to. it'll stay between us, i promise.'
the peter floodgates burst open, you'd done your best to push him from your mind but now you have the opportunity to indulge. you nibble at your bottom lip before looking up at him. ethan's smile is gentle, he's trying so hard for you.
'how is he doing?' from the little rumors you've heard it doesn't seem too good and the harsh bruise splattered across his jawline last week didn't do him any favors.
'um,' his smile tweaked, it's worse than you thought. you know it's bad because ethan's trying to find a way to be honest but not worry you. 'he's okay.'
'please be honest.' you know you ended it, you know it's real this time and you know part of you wants to hate him but if he's really down bad, you might have to give him a visit. ethan takes a deep breath and leans in closer to the table.
'yeah, he um, he kind of tanked. he's not himself right now. he's skipping chapter meetings, he's missing classes and if he's home, he's barricaded in his room or drinking.' your heart sinks, you're not hungry anymore.
'does he miss me?' you almost feel embarrassed to ask. ethan doesn't find the question pitiful, he's just glad you're talking to him. 'bad.'
it's brutal on your end too, but he sounds worse than you. at least you can get through the emotions of your day to day. you wish you could say you won the breakup but there's no winning.
'has he...'
you don't want to know the answer. you don't want to know the answer. you don't want to know the answer.
you still ask it. 'has he hooked up with anyone else?'
'no.' you believe him because he said it quick and with certainty. you nod slowly, it was the answer you wanted but it still didn't feel good.
'is he still going to the parties?' ethan shakes his head, 'i haven't seen him at any.'
'but he still has you, right?' if you didn't have a small support system you would've lost it ten times over by now. peter doesn't have a whole lot but one ethan overpowers ten mediocre friends.
'i asked if he wanted to talk about it, he said not really, i told him i was there for him and he said thanks. there really hasn't been much else, he's just been really quiet.'
ethan is all peter has, you can't rip that away from him. it would be evil to pollute the one thing he still had, you walked away from him and you shouldn't take his friend with you. plus... how could you move on if you have the peter encyclopedia at your fingertips?
'at least he's not crying.' you end it with a half laugh, half hum. it's sad all around and you're trying to lighten the mood, ethan avoids eye contact and your palms rest on the table.
'ethan.'
ethan's not sure if he is or not. he hasn't heard him but there are some days peter would shuffle out from his room for a water or snack and his eyes were a little red. there was evidence of crying but no tears, so he can't say with certainty but he knows.
'i don't know.'
it made up your mind. you can't do this to peter, you can't sneak around with his friend when he's still trying to mend what went down. you grieved the end of your relationship when you were with him, calling it quits was hard and it still is, but you were prepared. peter was caught off guard and he's still analyzing everything that went down, you know he is.
'so... are we cool?'
'of course we are, you were never a problem, ethan.' he looks relieved, releasing a sharp sigh he rests his hand over his heart and smiles brightly. 'oh thank god, i really missed you. so, are we done with the peter talk? are we ready to schedule our next crochet date?'
oh. he must've misunderstood you.
'no, we're not... we're not hanging out ethan, i just wanted you to know i didn't have any bad blood against you.'
ethan's not a mean person and you've never seen him mad at someone but he's hurt and his arms cross over his chest with a sneer.
'why am i being punished for what he did?'
'you're his best friend, ethan.' it's a statement and fact. it also has everything to do with you ghosting him. 'you were my friend too.' it's a raw confession, you can't look at him when he's this sad.
'i know i was. you were mine too, you still are. it's just different now and i'm not saying we can't be friends, but i think it would be better for everyone if we just took a break from each other right now.'
'it's not better for me. everything is weird right now, my best friend is a shell of the person he used to be and my other one pushed me so far away i was convinced she forgot about me.'
'it feels like i'm being iced out from all sides.' he's much sadder when he adds that on. you feel for him and you hate that you're part of the reason he feels excluded.
'i'm really sorry you feel like that, ethan. i promise it won't be forever, but i have my mind made up and no matter how many times you say please, it won't change.'
you're not sure if things between you became really quiet or if the dining hall doubled in sound. ethan's trying to come up with the right combination of words but nothing's good enough to make you come around on the idea.
If please doesn't work, he might have to force you.
'okay. i'll stop asking you to hang out with me.' he sounds fine with it, you're a little suspicious but he might've just wanted to talk to you, even if it was a formal goodbye.
'but i should go now.' ethan pushes against the edge of the table to slide out from his chair. his words are short but his tone is happy, you stare at him extra hard before nodding.
'i'll see you around?'
ethan sends a wink your way, 'see you later.'
---
the contents of your backpack are all over your bed, your phone nowhere to be found. you retrace your previous steps, you had it at lunch and you swore it was in your outer pocket at the library but after that it's blank.
it was either lost or stolen. your entire life was on it, you don't even have a way of telling everyone you lost it. you recheck your bag two more times even after holding it upside down, then fill it back up while giving yourself pity.
you wallow in it for ten minutes, not even a minute after that your roommate rushes in the door with her own phone held out. 'it's ethan.' you reach for it without thinking but pause before you can fully grab it, ally shakes it towards you. 'he said he has your phone?'
ally's unaware of what's happening and is being as helpful as she could but all you're thinking about is when and how he took it. you press her phone to your ear and ask him where your phone is, he plays dumb.
'i'm not fucking around, ethan. this isn't funny, i need my phone.'
'you left it behind at butler, it's a good thing my pledge found it for you.'
there was absolutely no chance of you leaving it, you clench your jaw and try to restrain yourself from throwing a million mean chirps. he sent someone to rob you.
'you stole my phone? why the fuck would you steal my phone?'
'oh, i didn't steal anything. you should be thankful one of our guys found it.'
'found it in my backpack?'
'did he? hm, interesting. but, hey! it's here and it's safe.'
'great, bring it to me.'
there's a pause on the other line, ethan sucks air in through his teeth. 'sorry, no can do, buddy. looks like you'll have to come get it.' your mouth parts in shock, that was the plan? forcing your hand to hang out with him?
'absolutely not. just meet me at kayte.'
'another no go, my friend. i'm stuck here and so is your phone.'
'you're not stuck anywhere, except in a house with my ex.'
'he's not here.'
'i don't believe you.'
you can picture ethan holding his phone into open air, he sounds far away when he calls out 'parker!' there's a solid ten second gap before he sounds crystal clear again. 'see? no threats.'
'ethan, please.'
'just come over, i promise it'll be fun.'
your eyebrows furrow, he thinks it's a game. 'no, nothing will be fun. this will be a business transaction and i'll be out of there in ten seconds.'
'so it's a yes? you're coming over?' if ethan had a tail, he would be wagging it. his plan worked and you're falling right into his hand. if it was anything else, you'd say fuck it and move on. but ethan took the one thing he can hold over your head and you both know it.
'i don't know how, but this is a rich asshole thing and you're being one.'
ethan ignores you. 'make sure to bring your crochet hooks!'
'i'm not doing that.'
'that's okay! i have a bunch of extras.'
'i mean it, ethan. i'm not hanging around!'
'what's that? sorry, you're breaking up on me. we should finish this conversation in person... okay, bye!'
the call disconnects suddenly. you stare at the black screen and take a deep breath to secure your thoughts before making a trek across campus.
---
'give me my phone.'
ethan ignores you and points to his bedside table, there's two waters and an entire box of grocery store cookies. 'here, come have a snack.' he drops his crochet tub on the edge of his bed. 'i got some new yarn, look at how soft it is.'
everything about it was a ruse.
'im serious, ethan. give me my phone.' he sighs and gestures to his desk, he keeps pulling out hooks. 'it's on my desk.' you search the surface, it's extremely tidy with no hiding place.
'no it's not. where is it?'
'hm... i must've misplaced it. i'll help you look in a second.'
if ethan wants to play dirty, you have no issue getting in the mud. you grab a small succulent from his windowsill and raise it next to your head.
'give me my phone, ethan.'
you're fighting fire with fire, ethan eyes his plant in your hold but keeps a straight face. 'i forgot where i put it.' if that's how he wants to act, you have no choice but to follow through on your actions.
you drop the mini cactus, the pot shatters into a dozen pieces and soil spatters around the floor. ethan falls to his knees and screams 'no!' at the plant guts covering the ground.
'she was a kid, you monster! she did nothing to you!'
you grab the matching pot that was next to it. 'give me my phone or the sister gets it.'
'i refuse to negotiate with a terrorist!' you're breaking him, you can see he's hesitant to refuse your compromise. 'i'm sorry you feel that way.'
the clay pot falls just as quick, it lies in a broken heap next to it's twin. ethan acts like he's been shot, a throaty yelp was produced while he delicately held the cacti in his hands.
the plants were fine, all you did was bust the pots. and while breaking personal property was a bar too low for you, you know he has at least a dozen more just like it in his closet.
you look up at his door to watch it crack open, it's a swift movement but it feels like everything is moving in slow motion. you try to back up as quick as you can but you're cemented to the floor and all you can do is stare at the face coming through the door.
'what the hell is... hey.'
you swallow hard, he looks how ethan said. just a shell of what he once was. all you can stare at is the purple bruise on his cheekbone, your heart pangs when it's reminded it's not your job to care about it anymore.
you point at ethan who suddenly is really quiet.
'he stole my phone.'
peter nods slowly before peering down at the mess around your shoes. 'did he give it back?' you shake your head, you feel like a tattle tail, especially when peter looks down at ethan and tells him to give your phone back.
ethan pulls it out of his pocket and hands it right over, your jaw drops and you frown heavily at him. 'you do it when he asks but not me?'
'he'll beat me up, you'll just unhouse my plants.'
'peter would never beat you up.' therefore, his excuse is pointless. ethan disagrees, his eyebrows almost hit his hairline with how confident you are. 'over you? he'd fucking kill me.'
you wait for peter to tag in, you know something is brewing in his mind. something like 'damn right i would,' and you'd follow up with something about how he's actually a big baby and he'd say something like 'only for you' and you'd... but that's not real life anymore and he stays silent.
he's probably confused and a little hurt you're hidden away in ethan's room, you feel the need to apologize even though you're not sure why you're sorry.
'i'm sorry, peter. i tried telling ethan that we should take a break on our friendship but he won't let it go.' you threw him under the bus in a second and you don't care, from the looks of it neither does ethan.
'you can be friends with ethan. you should be friends with ethan.' it's the first time actually talking with him since the break up and it feels weird, he's too formal. he's being kind and reserved, he's pliant and you need some bounce back to feel normal.
'you always said i needed to unfriend him when we were together.' you might've tossed a taunt at him, you wanted a reaction. you wanted your peter and throwing the break up in his face might do it.
it works, his eyebrows furrow while his stature hardens. 'i said a lot of shit i didn't mean when we were together, trouble.' you point at him, your tone ice cold. 'don't.' you refuse to acknowledge the small spread of warmth at the nickname.
'you like ethan, ethan likes you. you guys are good friends, why should i fuck that up? i ruined enough shit for you. the least i could do is give you ethan.'
ethan could speak up to make a joke about how it's like he's a child of divorce or that he's a person, not a piece of property but it feels like you're both having a moment that needs to happen. even if there was a weird energy he was picking up on.
your eyes narrow, he's doing this for reasons beyond being a good person. you know him well enough to know that he has something up his sleeve.
'i can think of something else i'd rather you give me.'
you can see the heat brewing behind his eyes, you got him right where you want him. peter uses his serious voice, the one he uses instead of raising his voice but still demands your attention.
'we're not talking about this here.'
those two sentences just told ethan that whatever you were insinuating was what ended the relationship and peter's very upset stance solidifies his opinion.
'oh, trust me. you're not talking about it at all.'
'we're not unpacking this in front of ethan. i'm on my way out anyway, hang out with your friend.' peter tries to step past you but you circle around to step up with him and block his exit, his chest brushes yours for a second and it takes everything in you not to wrap your arms around him and sink your face into the body you once found homely.
'liar.' he doesn't want you to hang around and he wasn't leaving. you're met with a heavy sigh. 'yeah, probably.' you can't stop yourself, you lightly poke his chest and peter's head drops so he can watch your hold stick longer than it should've.
'be honest.'
'you might be ready to cut the cord but i'm not.' he'd rather keep you in his life as a tie through ethan no matter how sore it was. if you had ethan you'd never fully lose him and that kind of promise is the only thing he wants right now.
'neither am i.'
peter stares at ethan, 'shut up.' he's shunned into silence. you're starting to understand why peter said he wasn't going to unpack anything here, you look down at your hands and play with a ring on your finger.
you think peter wants to talk about it civilly but you don't think either of you are ready to do it yet without hurting either person's feelings even more than they already are.
but having ethan around is a nice way to keep peter close without damaging your healing.
'okay.' you take a deep breath and glance at ethan, who's still pouting on the floor keeping his eye line from peter. 'i guess we can hang out.' he lights up in a second, looking between you and peter in case either one of you vetoes it.
neither of you do.
'sweet! i have to repot these but i have some new templets in my basket, so if you want to pick one out and start i'll just catch up later.' you nervously look towards peter and immediately dart away when you make eye contact.
turning your back on him slightly, you feel a little better. there's something about him that makes you feel jittery, like when you were the first couple times you met up with him alone.
'i don't think being here is a good idea, maybe we should just stick to my dorm?'
'why? parker said he was fine with us hanging out.'
'because maybe parker was being nice and doesn't actually want to see me here?'
peter can speak for himself, and he'll use the correct name. in case you forgot. 'peter, is just fine with you being here. the only sucky part is knowing you hate me.'
you think he might be baiting you now but you can't help but set the record straight. 'okay, hold on now.' you speak very clearly towards him, you're not about to let him twist your words.
'i am a hundred different emotions towards you right now but i don't hate you. i think you know that, parker.'
'okay,' it's full of sarcasm. 'you have a goodnight, trouble. i'll see you later.' you bite your tongue and let him leave, if you didn't, you'd be making subtle shots at each other all night.
'your best friend is a dick.' the second you're alone. ethan shrugs, 'you were into that at one point.'
'no, no. if we're going to be friends you only ever sympathize with me about him, you're not allowed to bring up anything i did in the relationship.'
ethan has a pile of soil and a pile of shattered clay, you feel obligated to help him clean up. 'and for clarification, i'm supposed to sympathize with your ex boy toy when i'm with him?'
'absolutely not. you're on team me at all times. shame him if you have to.' the broken pieces land in his desk trash can. 'is this where i have to remind you he'd kick my ass?'
oh, you missed and loathe this so much.
'you're so whiny, clean quieter.'
'is it too late for you to ghost me again?'
'that's it. clean up your own mess, i'm going to make a crochet snake and not because it's the easiest but because that's how you're acting.'
ethan snorts and nods towards his wicked wicker basket of yarn, you're already eyeing different greens. 'be sure to make one for my twin next door.'
you do.
you leave it outside peter's door and while ethan never confirmed it, he knows you're the one who made it.
and it sleeps on his nightstand next to him every night.

Tumblr media
Aunt Polly was the first one to notice. The young girl had become increasingly fatigued and nauseated. It wasn’t hard to put two and two together considering she’d been setting a boy from St. Michael’s just across the way. He was a nice boy, but Aunt Polly could read people well enough to know it was nothing ending with a ring. Puppy love they call it, but unfortunately for her niece, it wouldn’t end as easy. She watched the young girl yawn over breakfast and rub her temples. Simple, but something she loved was eggs. But when Aunty Polly pushed the plate over to the girl, there was a hesitation.
Pursing her lips, she asked, “not hungry?” The young girl could hardly answer, balled fist pressed against her mouth trying to keep down whatever was begging to come up. Shaking her head, she slid from the table and rushed for the sink. Aunt Polly gave a knowing grin as she sipped her tea, listening to dry heaving. “You’ve been getting sick a lot,” she commented from the table. Her niece walked out, dabbing the corner of her lips.
“Just a bug,” the young girl replied, taking her seat again and pushing away the eggs, opting to only eat the toast.
There was a moment of silence before Polly asked, “when did you and that boy have sex?”
She was about to take a bite of toast when Aunt Polly dropped the questions. Slowly, she looked over. “I’m sorry?” Aunty Polly arched her brows, knowingly. Was it that noticeable? She wiped her mouth with the back of wrist and took a drink of milk. “Peter and I don’t have sex-”
“No?”
“No.” She confirmed. “Besides, Peter has moved to Cambridge. Last week, in fact.” She stood from the table and gathered her coat from the brass hanger at the door. “I should run an errand. Daddy’s asked me to drop some things off at the post, I need to pick up a few things at the store, and Aunty Esme has asked me to watch the children while she goes to the clinic.”
As she was swinging her coat over her shoulder, Aunty Polly commented, “you’ve haven’t gotten your monthly bleed in nearly three months.”
Sighing, she responded, “and how do you know that?”
They connected glances for a second before Aunt Polly looked at her tea. “I wash your linens.”
“I’ve been more careful-”
“You no longer wear your button blouse.”
“I stained it the other day-”
“For fucks sake, dear,” Aunty Polly sighed, rolling her eyes. “I’ve had two children. I know when a woman is pregnant. Well, in your case, a girl.” Defeated, she pressed her coat neatly over the nearest piece of furniture. The color drained from her face, and she could no longer look at her aunt. It was true. She and her best friend went to the clinic three weeks prior. Without a rabbit test, he couldn’t say for sure. However, her symptoms were unmistakable. “Does he know?” Aunty Polly asked. “The boy, I mean. Is he aware that you are pregnant-”
“He wants nothing to do with it,” she interrupted, finding herself falling into the sofa. “Why do you think he’s sent himself to Cambridge?”
“When do you plan on telling your father?”
She hadn’t thought about that. Well, she had, but only briefly just before pushing it to the back of her head never to ponder again. “I’m hoping it kinda just…goes away.”
“It will,” Aunty Polly said, getting up and joining her side on the sofa. “In six months time, it will go away. Instead of being in your stomach, it will magically appear out and poof! Into a crying, screaming, shitting human being.” She grabbed the girl’s chin lightly, eyes narrowing. “I won’t tell him, but you best tell him sooner versus later because you know what Tommy hates more than a pregnant daughter? A lying pregnant daughter…”
The girl shifted uncomfortably on the sofa, turning averting her direction. “ I’ll tell him soon, I promise.”
“Good,” she said, standing. “He won’t kill you, but be prepared for some yelling…maybe some throwing. That’s the best case scenario, anyway.”
“Worst case?” the girl winced.
“Well,” she started, thinking for a moment. “Well, Peter won’t be staying in Cambridge, that’s for sure.”
Time went on, and each day she wanted to tell him. She went to bed every night feeling ready. However, when the morning came, she backtracked. Aunty Polly would give her these patronizing side glances. Almost as if she was threatening to spill the news herself. It was finally when the young girl walked into his work office, interrupting a meeting. He was mid-conversation when he looked up and said, “darling, I’m busy. Do you mind giving me a few moments?” It was now or never. If she walked out those double doors, she wouldn’t walk back in. She’d run, she was sure of it.
Taking a deep breath, she let out, “no. I need you…I need m-my daddy….” Her words came out as a long scratchy stutter. Tommy paused, studying the girl’s quivering bottom lip. “Daddy, I need you…I need to talk to you.”
Tommy sighed and nodded, looking at the two gentlemen across from him. “Alright, just give me a moment and I will be with you.” He walked over to the door and looked down at her quietly, motioning for her to go outside. “What happened?”
“Daddy,” she trembled. “You should sit down on the couch-”
“Love,” he stressed, rubbing at his temple. “Just fucking tell me…I don’t need the run around.”
She couldn’t look at him. The way he was staring down at her. Since the moment he adopted her, she was placed on a pedestal. The daughter who could do no wrong. She was his perfect girl. He’d say it all the time. Look at my perfect girl. “I’m pregnant,” she said in a very low whisper.
Tommy had to have misheard it. “I’m sorry?” he asked, brow arched. “Love, I’m getting old here. I can’t hear you-”
“Daddy! I’m pregnant!” she yelled that time, enough for a few floaters in the background to hear. The workers stopped. In fact, the whole world froze. She slowly looked up at him, her eyes brimming with tears. He had no expression, no reaction for the first few seconds before he slid to the couch. There were no words to describe the ache he just felt. It was as if someone took a club and beat his chest with it. The last thing Tommy wanted was to yell at her. If there was anything in the world that he could describe as porcelain, it’d be his baby. Porcelain; something delicate and precious. While most fathers pictured their daughters meeting a good man and getting married, giving them beautiful grandchildren, Thomas was the opposite. To him, she was always going to live with him because no man on the earth was good enough. “Daddy, please say something. Anything.”
He slowly drifted his attention from the blank wall to her face. “Tommy, I got the paperwork from the ba-what’s wrong?” John walked in, file tucked under his arm. Tommy looked over at him and got up, grabbing the file, nodding.
“Take her home,” he said, in a monotone voice.
“Daddy!” she cried as she watched him walk past her and go through the two double doors. Her heart shattered like glass. She felt as though her body was going numb as she slowly slid to the ground, silently sobbing. John kneeled at her side about to say something when the door burst open.
Tommy paused, playing with the barrel of his gun. “I’m gonna fookin’ kill him. I’m going to fookin’ shoot that mother fucker in the nutsacks! Then after that, I’m going to shoot his fucking arsehole off his fooking body.” Tommy had never felt rage as such. Angrily, he kicked the leg of the sofa then knocked a picture off the wall, words grumbling under his breath. It hit John and he slowly looked at the girl, swallowing.
“You’re pregnant?” he asked, and when she nodded, he shook his head. “You’re bloody fuckin’ sixteen, eh? Where’s Peter?”
Tommy stopped pacing, staring at her. “Pregnant? Like actually fuckin’ pregnant?! Sixteen, fuckin’ pregnant, I’m…how!?”
“I think she had sex, Tommy,” John said, which was not received well.
“You fuckin’ had sex!?” he yelled, turning and rubbing the back of his neck, running his hands through his hair before punching at the door frame. “You had sex! Why did you do that!? You were never, ever suppose to fuckin’ do that….I’m going to shoot the fucking bastard, John…I’m gonna fuckin’ shoot him-”
“I know, Tommy,” John agreed, trying to calm his brother down. “I know.”
“Right in his fuckin cock!”
“Right in his cock,” John continued.
“His cock…they had sex,” he said, trying to catch his breath, leaning on the door frame. “My little fuckin’ girl. He put his cock into my- no, no, no. She’s not pregnant. Absolutely fuckin’ not. It’s not possible! Where would they have been able to do that?!” She watched her father go through several degrees of grief, nervous playing with her skirt hem. He turned to her. “You’re playing a fucking joke on me…not funny! You’re a virgin because you have to be a virgin.”
“Tommy, I think you’re deflecting now,” John said. “How about you and I, we take a ride and talk through it, eh? Get a drink?” He shook his head and reminded John to take her home. “Alright. I’ll come back-”
“Take her home and we’ll talk about it when we get home,” he said, slowly looking at her. “It’ll be okay. We’ll talk about it when I get home. Stop your crying, eh?” Tommy reached over and patted her on the cheek before walking back into his office.
Later that night, she was laying in bed, rubbing her tummy and staring at the ceiling when he came in…no knocking. She turned to look at him, blotchy red face. Pointing at her as he did, he asked, “what are you doing?”
She sat up, resting over her elbows. “Bed?”
“No,” he said, pulling up the vanity chair. “Love, what are you doing about the baby?” She hadn’t thought about it. Sighing, he raised three fingers. “You have three options, love. One, you and I tomorrow morning take a trip to Liverpool-”
“Women die from that, Daddy,” she said. “I’m not getting an abortion.
“Alright, but that means you’re going to have this baby. You’re going to start showing and other people are going to notice. People who were once your friends, may not be friends with you anymore. School may kick you out and I wouldn’t be surprised if the church no longer wants you there. Understand the consequences. You’re an unmarried girl. Number two, you have the baby and we send it off to the orphanage. It’ll find a new home and you’ll be able to resume your normal life. Three, you have this child-”
“I’m having my baby,” she said. “Daddy, I couldn’t-”
“Fine.” He wasn’t happy at first with her decision, having to leave the room for a moment before coming back in. “Let me tell you something, I’m not fucking happy! But, this is the situation and there is nothing we can do about it. But let me fucking say a few things. That piece of shit,” he paused, pointing at the door. “Peter better stay the fuck off. Understand me? As far as I’m concerned, he’s lost that privilege. That child is a Shelby and it’ll be named a Shelby.”
She slowly started to smile. “So, you aren’t going to kick me out?”
He softened a bit and joined her on the bed. “No, I’m not kicking you out. But another thing…I’m not grandpa. Understand me? That child is not calling me grandpa. I don’t have enough fuckin’ greys to be called that.”
“Then what would you like to be called?” she asked, grinning. “Papa?”
Tommy gave her a look. “Fuckin’ ‘ell! Papa?! No. They’ll call me Mr. Shelby until we’re on speaking basis. We’ll move up to Tommy then go from there.”
Ten Months Later
“Come see pap-pap,” Tommy cooed in a light hearted tune, bypassing his daughter who rolled her eyes. He looked down in the crib, making kissy faces. “Ahh, look at my little poopah,” he said, picking up the four month old and cradling her in his arms. He’d just come home from a business meeting.
“Daddy,” his daughter whined. “I just put her down for a nap-”
“What!? Ah, please, she’s fine,” he said, waving his hand. He played with her bottom lip making mock baby noises. The little one whined, little hands grabbing for nothing. “Aww, you want pap-pap’s hat? Don’t you? Yes you do. Pap Pap is going to get you your own little hat! We’ll be twins!” He smiled wide, looking at his daughter, who was unamused.
She sighed, crawling under the sheet. “Well, you go play twins and I’m going to take a nap.”
He hardly said ‘goodbye’, happily tugging the baby out the door with him. From the bed, all she heard was, “Pap Pap loves his little poopah. You so pretty, you so chunky, you so…you so…smelly! Uh Oh! Poopah went poopy. It’s okay, we were visiting Aunty Polly anyways. She’ll clean you right up, eh? We’ll just say you pooped in the car on the way, okay? C’mon. Put that hat on again….”

Tell me to stop.
A Jily One-Shot <3
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
James watched her face, waiting for the moment it would break into that little half smile she always used to give when he complimented her.
It didn't.
He didn't know why he hoped for it anymore, she hadn't smiled like that at him in months. Something had happened between them, something he couldn't explain.
"Evans." He called later that day, trying to get her attention again, "You look beautiful today."
She didn't even spare him a glance, continuing her studying like he wasn't even there. Mary looked up and gave him a strange apologetic expression, then turned back to her own work.
Things had never been weirder.
The next day he decided to try again, he waited until she was alone this time, tired of those pitiful looks from her friends, the same friends who used to laugh and roll their eyes good-naturedly at his antics.
They knew something he didn't, that much was obvious.
"Evans." He tried to make his voice casual, "Did you write down the lecture today for charms? I must have misplaced it."
She opened her bag without replying, pulling out her notes and holding it out to him, never meeting his eyes.
"Um... thanks." He mumbled.
She simply nodded and went back to reading.
He sighed when he was back in his dorm, setting the notes next to his already finished assignment.
"Still not talking to you?" Remus asked, watching him carefully. James nodded,
"I don't know what's going on. She hasn't insulted me in ages."
He rose an eyebrow, "Shouldn't that be a good thing?"
"No, something's different. She won't even look at me anymore." James leaned back on his pillows, wishing he could understand where it was he went wrong, "She used to at least acknowledge me."
"Do you think you finally pushed it too far?" Remus' voice was as gentle as it could be. James groaned,
"Merlin, I did, didn't I?" He sat up again, "I swear everything was fine up until a few months ago, she never looked uncomfortable or I would've stopped immediately."
"I know, James." Remus stood and walked over to his bed, placing a hand on his shoulder, "Maybe you should go make sure she knows that."
"Yeah, you're right. Thanks, Moony."
Remus nodded and stepped out of the way so he could leave. He grabbed her notes and trudged back down the steps.
"Evans, I-" He froze when he saw her sitting there, exactly where she had been just minutes ago.
Only now, she was crying.
"Not the time, Potter." Alice warned him, moving to stand between them.
He nodded, setting the notes down on the table and quickly making his way back upstairs.
"What happened?" Remus asked when he caught sight of the look on his face.
"She was crying." He whispered.
"Oh."
"Yeah."
The room was silent. Remus cleared his throat after a long while,
"Sirius and Pete should be here soon. We can all head to dinner together, if you want?"
When James didn't react Remus pulled him into a sudden hug, holding him tight until he could feel James' breathing even out.
"Thanks, Moony." He whispered. Remus nodded,
"'Course, mate."
"Is something going on today?" Sirius asked when he and Peter entered the room to find James' face buried in Remus' shoulder, "Why does everyone in the tower look so upset?"
James could feel Remus subtly shake his head at Sirius. There weren't any other comments on it as they passed the girls to head to dinner.
Once they were sitting down and eating, James felt a little better, he hadn't realised how tense he'd gotten. Sirius' presence beside him made him feel a little more like himself.
"She just ignored you?" Peter asked incredulously when the events were finally recounted for them, "She usually calls you a toerag or something, doesn't she?"
James nodded, his voice a little wistful as he spoke, "I know, and she always smiles when she says it too."
"What changed?" Sirius asked, "You said it's only been the last few months, do you remember the last thing you said before things got weird between you?"
James shook his head, "It wasn't anything I haven't already told her a thousand times. I've been doing this for seven years, Pads, I can't exactly come up with tons of new material."
"Maybe that was the problem... Maybe you've done this for too long." Peter offered. Remus sighed,
"You won't find out what's wrong by guessing. She looked really upset. Maybe just try to talk with her when you're both a little calmer and see how you can fix things that way."
James nodded, "Yeah, you're right."
"Isn't he always?" Sirius laughed.
"Oh, here they come." Peter nodded towards the door. Lily, Mary, Alice, and Dorcas had just walked through, followed closely by Frank and Marlene.
"I should go talk to her." James said, standing up. Sirius' eyes went wide,
"Now?" He asked.
"Better than sitting here in awkward silence all dinner."
He walked over to the group, who stopped a few steps away from him.
"Er... Evans? Can I talk to you for a second?" He asked carefully.
Lily looked surprised, hesitating as she glanced at Marlene.
"It's important." He added.
"Sure." She whispered after some time had passed, "I'll catch up with you guys."
He walked her over to the wall, bringing them far away from everyone else, "I just wanted to say I'm sorry." He whispered.
Her eyes narrowed and she frowned slightly, he couldn't help thinking about how much he missed her smile.
"For what?"
"Everything?" He laughed, "I mean, I've been chasing you for like seven years. I know I've been annoying."
"You aren't annoying." She replied, but even he could tell it was unsure.
"You don't have to lie to me." He shook his head and took a small step closer, "I should have asked you if you were uncomfortable a long time ago. For whatever reason I always liked to think I know you better than I actually do and that I could tell when things would bother you. But I couldn't. I upset you somehow and-"
"Potter-" She started. He shook his head,
"No, please, I need to say this. I'm sorry I didn't considered your feelings. I was so absorbed in my own world I never stopped to think that maybe this was really hurting you, maybe you were just pretending to laugh or maybe you actually meant it when you told me to go away."
He glanced towards their friends, all of whom were watching them in interest. He was immeditaley greatful he had made the decision to pull her out of hearing range.
"I'm listening now." He told her, looking back into her eyes, "I won't ever take this for granted again. Tell me to stop, and I'll stop. I promise. I'm sorry I let things go on this long. I actually do care about your feelings, and I'm sorry if I made it seem like I didn't."
"Potter?" She whispered.
"Yeah?"
"I like you."
He laughed, expecting a punchline.
It didn't come.
He froze, "What?"
"I like you." She repeated, staring at him in a way she never had before. At least, not a way he'd ever seen.
He shook his head. This was a joke, right?
"Like..."
"I'm in love with you."
Nothing in that moment could have torn his eyes away from her.
"You like me?" He whispered, needing to say the words out loud, "You- You're in love with me?"
It didn't make sense. Lily Evans? In love with him?
This had to be a dream, or a prank, or a cruel, cruel version of an early birthday gift she planned to take back later.
But then... the feeling of saying the words aloud.
He kept staring at her, wondering briefly if his jaw had actually managed to hit the floor yet.
She sighed, realising he didn't believe her,
"I'm being serious, Potter." She reached out a hand to touch his arm, "I mean it."
He could feel somewhere in the back of his mind a part of him perk up at the opportunity for the Sirius joke, but it didn't come either, his whole being so totally enamored with everything about the girl in front of him.
The girl he'd been in love with for seven years.
The girl who just told him that she loved him too.
She twisted a strand of hair between her fingertips, a nervous habit he'd always adored,
"I thought it was some joke you were pulling. Pretending to like me because it was funny to you and your friends. I didn't realise you actually..." The sentence broke off and she shook her head.
He reached out and took her hand, "Merlin, Lily. Of course I meant it. Every word." He gave a quiet, disbelieving laugh, "I've been in love with you for as long as I can remember. I meant everything I've ever said to you."
She looked up at him then, and when their eyes met he swore he felt fireworks erupt from every cell in his body.
He couldn't believe this was happening.
She loved him.
And the smile she gave then, the one he'd been waiting for for months, was so bright it took his breath away.
"I am in love with you Lily Evans." He whispered, needing to say these words aloud too, "And I'm sorry that I ever made you feel like I wasn't."
He waited for her to reply, she stared at him for a moment.
And then the most wonderful thing happened.
She kissed him.
He felt his brain short-circuit for a solid few seconds before he remembered he was allowed to kiss her back.
His curved his hands gently around her face, stepping closer so their bodies intertwined.
He couldn't tell how long they kissed for, but he knew then this was a moment he would remember for the rest of his life.
"I love you, James Potter. Even if you are an insufferable toerag." She smiled.
And merlin did he love that smile.
Cheering from their table caught their attention, all of their friends were standing up, clapping and shouting their congratulations. He glanced towards the staff table to see McGonagall's approving smile.
Lily Evans loved him.
And James Potter could never be happier.

🕷 ______________________________________________________🕷
"Hey Y/N!"
"Hi Peter."
"Hi Y/N!!"
"Hi Peter."
You awkwardly nodded at the passing Spider-people, all of them greeting you excitedly while you barely acknowledged them, keeping your eyes in front of you. There was no point in engaging in a conversation, it'd only end up with you having to answer their questions and force yourself into the open. You weren't ready for that just yet.
You kept your head down as you walked through the door of the training center, pretending not to notice the few Peters that waved at you while fighting, friendly yet blank smiles on their faces. They were all the same.
"Hey, Y/N."
You stopped for a moment and turned around, being greeted by a familiar face that you hadn't seen in the past few days. The same face that was the worst of them all, asking you more questions about yourself and your past life than all the other Peters combined.
"Hi Hobie." You muttered, about to turn away again. You did not want to start a conversation with him right now. It always ended with him probing you with questions about your dimension, your family, your canon events...he was too curious to take a hint.
"Woah, where d'you think you're goin' sunshine?" He asked with a grin, following you as you. "Y'can't get rid of me that easy."
"Obviously not." You mumbled, slowing down your pace when you realized you wouldn't be able to shake him off. He watched you for a moment, as if inspecting you, dark brown eyes running over your mask and suit. "Why do you never take off that mask?" He asked out of the blue, cocking his head towards you slightly.
"I don't feel like it" You replied dryly, not making eye contact with him. "Why don't you feel like it, then?" He asked sweetly, a sly expression crossing his face. "Are you horribly disfigured or something?"
"I just don't find it necessary." Your tone was as cold as you could make it, the annoyance at his presence practically oozing out of your body. "And why's that?" He asked, making his tone as childish as possible, obviously trying to annoy the crap out of you. Little shit. "Because my face shouldn't matter."
"But it's not just your face, is it?" He chuckled. "It's your story too. I've known you for a month, but I don't know a single thing about you" His tone turned teasing. "You have something to hide?"
You froze. "I just don't like talking about it, okay?" You snapped, looking up at him. He backed down slightly, hands going up in the air defensively. "Alright, alright...I'm still curious though." He pushed his hands into the pockets of his vest, leaning in once again. "I mean, we've all experienced the same things...what makes you so special?"
"I never said I was special." You said with a scoff, folding your arms over your chest. "Ahh, but you act like you're special." He replied. "All mysterious and secretive...makes me think you've got something a little different."
"What if it's just none of your business?"
He shrugged. "I'd still like to know."
You shook your head and turned away from him again, but he gently grabbed your arm before you could leave. "Wait!" he said quickly, getting back in front of you. "I just want to get to know you better, dove."
"Why?"
"I just...would like to."
You stayed silent for a moment, mulling it over. "If I answer your questions, will you leave me alone?" He rolled his eyes. "I'd rather be friends, but if that's what you'd like..."
"I'd like you to leave me alone."
"Will do, princess. Now first question-why hide your face?"
You bit the inside of your cheek, already regretting giving him his chance. "I just don't want to take it off."
"I won't leave you alone if you don't answer my questions."
"Fine, fine." you said quickly, "I just don't trust any of these people with my identity."
He raised an eyebrow. "You think they're gonna use it against you?" He asked amusedly, a laugh on the tip of his tongue. "We're all Spider-man too...I think you're a bit mental."
"Shut up!" You said annoyedly, shaking your head at him. "I just have...trust issues, okay?" You murmured, just barely loud enough for him to hear. His smile widened at this confession and he lowered his voice as well. "Honestly? Me too."
"Uh-huh" you replied, not buying into it. "No really-" he responded, "-you know, when I first got here, I wouldn't say a single word to LYLA. Still don't. I don't trust anything that robots got to say."
You chuckled at this. "That's not the same though-" You began.
"I didn't trust people with my face either, 'til I realized everyone's got their mask off so it doesn't really matter." he interjected
You stayed silent, letting his words sink in. How cute. "Alright, next question-"
"Hey, I've already answered a question!" You said, a smile appearing on your face.
"You never said I was only allowed one question." he teased, wagging his finger in your face.
"Jerk."
"Why don't you want to be friends with me?" He tilted his head to the side and you couldn't help but feel a little guilty. You'd been fairly rude to him in the time that you'd known him. Although he was pretty annoying, he still wasn't the worst.
"I just...I'm not very good at making friends." You admitted, breaking eye contact and looking to the side awkwardly. He nodded solemnly, not taking his eyes off of you. "I get it."
"No I'm like really bad at making friends. I just...don't like people. I don't get people."
"Don't feel bad about it. To each their own, right?" he assured you, eyes crinkling up slightly as he grinned.
You grinned back. "I guess you're right."
"Doesn't mean we can't be friends though."
You laughed. "Why do you want to be friends with me so bad?"
"You're mysterious. It draws me in." He said jokingly. "But really, I just want to get to know you." he said, almost embarrassedly. "And I'd like you to get to know me too."
You stared at each other in silence. "Well, when you put it that way, I guess I kind of have to now." You said with a chuckle, extending your hand out to him. "Why don't we start over?"
"Sounds perfect, darling. I'm Hobie, Hobie Brown. You?" He said with a smile, taking your hand and shaking it vigorously. "It's nice to meet you, Hobie Brown. I'm Y/N."

Peter Pevensie x fem! reader
words: 1,8 k
warnings: smut!, fingering, oral (fem!receiving)
Tumblr media
Peter was lying on the sofa in his flat, spending the evening watching the new Hobbit trilogy, when he heard the door open and close again.
You came in sighing. It was so typical. You didn't know how you did it, but you always manage to pick the wrong person. After tossing the keys into the container by the front door, you made your way to the living room.
"You're home already?" Peter didn't pretend to be happy about that.
You rolled your eyes and plopped down on the couch next to him, resting your head on his shoulder. "Why do I always hang out with idiots Pete? Why can't everyone be like you?”
Peter laughed humbly. "I don't know." He lifted his arm, and you quickly snuggled into him kicking off your shoes. "What are we watching?"
"The Hobbit."
You nodded and relaxed, grabbed a blanket and covered your body and Peter's "Marie left already?"
Peter covered his legs before sighing. "She didn't come," he admitted.  You looked up from your position, your face full of confusion.
"Peter Pevensie" Peter was sitting across from you. With one arm on the back of the couch and one leg propped up against the couch, you couldn't help but smile. "Oh no, my full name," he said, pretending to be scared.
"I can't believe it! You could have made a move," you scolded him, and he scowled with a laugh "What's so funny?".
"Y/n... I don't want to make a move. "
"Why, she's beautiful!" Peter laughed again, scratching his neck lightly before shrugging. "I don't even like her that much”
In case you didn't know, Peter's heart was pounding in his ears right now. This will be the end of your friendship; God you and Peter have been friends since the crib and he would rather repress his feelings than be nothing. "You'll never get a girlfriend if you go on like this, Pevensie! What's the matter with her?"
It was the drop that filled the glass.
"Nothing, nothing, it's just that she's not you"  Your eyes widened like plates; did he really say that?. Suddenly you realised how closely the two of you were sitting together. You were still leaning on his arm. The warmth of his skin seeped through his torso and touched the exposed skin of your back. Your whole body shuddered under his gaze, your throat so dry you couldn't swallow the lump that had formed in your throat. "Don't lie to me," he regretted saying that.
"I'm not," Peter replied quietly. All confidence left him. He regretted what he said. They both stood in silence for a while, trying to figure out what had happened. "Why didn't you say anything?" you asked.
Peter sighed and clenched his jaw. "I guess I didn't want to ruin our friendship. I would have had to find somewhere else to live, and the atmosphere would have been uncomfortable" He adjusted his seat and looked down. "Like now."
"You're stupid," he laughed. You took a deep breath before continuing. "I've loved you since we were little, Peter."
His head snapped up. Now he was the one who was surprised. "You, what?"  You nodded, confirming that what you just said was true. "You were seeing someone else, I thought you didn't like me."
Peter gulped. The air in the room changed. You could feel the heat under your skin, like someone had turned up the heat. You were still looking at Peter trying to see if you were joking. It was a joke, wasn't it?  You took a deep breath. It didn't lead anywhere. You clearly weren't the type of girl to make the first move, but this was different. It was Peter. And you'd do anything for him.
One of your hands moved over his arm before placing it behind his neck. You approach him hesitantly, but Peter knew you to well, and he just leaned in to meet you lips.
You kissed me a couple of times and it all felt the same. This was wrong. It was full of love and adoration and the sweet taste of it amazed them both. But there was something else. Passion surged and took my breath away. You didn't expect Peter to kiss like this. His hand moved to your hip, pulling you closer as his kiss became more artful.
You climb onto his lap caressing his face. Peter holds you tighter. His fingers pressed against your skin, digging into the fabric of his high-waisted jeans. You practically writhed under his grip, your body pressed against his chest as you kissed, both of your minds filled with dirty thoughts.
After waiting so long, you couldn't wait to get there because the opportunity really did come. "God, y/n". You gave him a breathtaking smile before slowly pulling his shirt off.
Peter grabbed you around the waist again and pulled you closer as he began to kiss your neck. Your hand ran down his chest, tugging at his shirt, running your hand under the fabric, caressing his warm skin, feeling the taut muscles of his abdomen. He kissed your collarbone as you whispered and moaned. His lips were still kissing your skin, moving slowly over your bare breasts.
"You have no idea how much I wanted to do that." He towered over you, supporting her weight in his arms, staring down at you and pulling her to you. You couldn't believe he was really kissing you.
"Are you going to keep your eyes on me or kiss me again?" you bite your lip and smile as you look into his eyes.
He gasped and moved closer. When he pressed his lips against yours again, his hips almost crashed against yours, making you let out a choked moan. Your hands moved over his skin, down the hem of his trousers, he lets you slide your fingers under the fabric and he moaned as you begin to plan him through his trousers.
The air in the room was overwhelming , and it was burning your skin. They were already panting, gasping for kisses, devouring each other with a hunger to kill each other.
You push Peter up and reach into your tight jeans, but he grabs your hand and stops you from undoing the top button. You held your breath, waiting impatiently for Peter to finish what he had started. His hands moved painfully slowly, caressing your spread thighs, thumbs digging into your clothed skin, making you squirm before unbuttoning and unzipping your trousers. "Lift your hips for me, my dear," he murmured, concentrating more on his actions than his words. Now, you lay on the couch beneath him, wearing nothing but a pair of black panties, and you saw his expression darken, biting his lip again.
All right. "Good girl." Peter looked sophisticated and different. Flattering and seductive was a new side of him. After all, the sweet, shy boy had a dark side.
His hand stroked your leg again, you felt the goose bumps on your skin, and when his hand finally reached the edge of his black underwear, you couldn't help but gasp as you shivered. Peter looked up, finally met your gaze and leaned down to kiss you again. His kiss travelled down your body, hitting the sweet spots on your collarbone, your sternum and down your abdomen, leaving a wet trail that made you shiver.
You stood up and reached up to pull Peter closer to you. You kissed and sucked on his neck as you felt your underwear slip completely off your legs. You started touching his trousers again, feeling his erection under the fabric. "don't tease" Peter growled, gently but firmly pushing you back on the couch as you made another mark on his skin.
Your lower belly was tense, waiting to be touched and tended to. When his lips brushed the inside of hers, you moaned and felt a kind of relief and frustration at the same time. So you didn't want him to kiss you.
"Peter," you whisper, closing your eyes and concentrating on the feel of his lips against your skin. Your head dropped back onto the pillow, your hands gripped the edge of the wide couch and you felt his tongue caress your aching clit. You hadn't had sex in a long time. Peter loved teasing you about that.
He began to move slowly, up and down and side to side, deftly turning you into a moaning mess beneath him. And when you felt one of his fingers slide inside you, you couldn't even think anymore. All you were thinking about was him, Peter.
And he pushed you over the edge. A current of pleasure exploded in your lower stomach, and the knots that formed exploded, clinging to Peter's blond hair.  "Fuck" you moaned, "I'm about to-" Peter laughed, wiped his mouth with his palm and said, "Your room or mine?" he asked with a grin. Now you're skin to skin, completely exposed.
"I don't care, just fuck me."
He took you to the next room. Lying quickly on the bed, he gently laid you down and jumped on top of you. Mocking your gentleness, he looked down at your face and saw your face pucker with pleasure and a soft moan escaping your lips.
"Peter, if you don't start fucking me now, I'll do it myself" With a thrust he filled you and paused to give you time to adjust to his size.  When he was sure he wasn't going to hurt you, he pulled back almost all the way before thrusting his hips into you.
It was simply heaven. It had to be. His movements quickened as he realized his hands were taking advantage of your hips, pressing your body into the mattress and plunging you into oblivion.
"Look, you're taking me so well," he said, panting heavily. His eyes were on your face, his blue eyes and messy hair made him stunning.
You felt your lower abdomen tighten again and you let Peter know you were close again, but so did he. His thrust became unsteady and he held his weight by clinging to the headboard. Both jumped off the cliff at almost the same time.
Peter sank to the mattress, rested his head on the corner of your neck and took a deep breath. He was still clinging to the headboard and didn't want to crush you with his weight, but you didn't mind.... Panting, you gently stroked his neck.
You had no words to say. We both knew how we felt. Rising slowly, Peter got up and went to the closet. He pulled a shirt and black boxer shorts out of his wardrobe and handed you the shirt as you sat down.
Peter grabbed you again, pulled you tight against his chest and pulled the sheets over the two of you. "y/n?" he finally said.
"Huh?"
"Thank God your date went wrong”

"what about.. number 13?" you ask.
you and peter have just finished a long week of tests. which means you now have to bombard peter with thousands of questions about his answers.
"uh, i answered b. i think." he replies, unpacking the books from his bag.
you blink, you were pretty sure you answered d. and knowing peter answered b, you were pretty sure you got that one wrong.
"do you think mr. anderson will still give me a point? because a 'd' is basically a 'b' but backwards." you explain.
"maybe, mr. anderson will probably give you a pity point." he replies, still unpacking the books from his bag. you were sitting on the edge of his bed, "i don't think mr. anderson is capable of feeling pity for anyone."
"don't think about it too much. i think you did good on your tests. i mean, you did have the best tutor." he smiles — "oh yeah! how could i forget, jimmy neutron is my tutor."
"okay. rude." he puts his hand on his chest, letting out a dramatic gasp. "what? you have brown hair, you make weird gadgets, and you're abnormally smart." you shrug.
"that's bullying."
"is calling people smart bullying now?"
"when you say it, yes. you're lucky i love you." he sits next to you.
you smile at the L word. though you were 100% sure he meant it platonically. that's what friends do, right?
"you're not gonna say it back?" he pouts.
you laugh, jokingly. but peter didn't.
"oh don't take it to heart, pete."
"can i tell you something?" his heart was racing, "yeah, of course. are you okay?" he seemed tense all of the sudden.
"there's no other way of saying this really. but i like you. a lot." he pauses, "i have never known someone quite like you. you're so pretty it actually hurts." he stutters. a lot.
"i'm having trouble finding the words for this, yet the words to describe you aren't so hard to find. you're like a fresh breath of air. like a shot of espresso. like a cold wind on a hot summer day. you're like a ribbon, laced around a braid." he rambles, "and i really, really like you."
you can't even process whatever he just said. you're not sure how to respond to any of that.
but for whatever reason, your brain can only come up with one response.
"aw, peter. i like you a lot too!
you're like a brother to me."
and with that peter's face looked like a ghost. he just poured his entire heart only for you to completely friend-zone him.
"is something wrong?" you ask.
"you did not just pull that card on me."
"what card?"
peter sighs, covering his face with his hand in utter embarrassment.
"oh." you realize. "let's just forget everything i just said. anyways, what did you get for number 16?" peter changes the topic.
"peter-"
"or maybe number 15? i heard gwen say that was the hardest question."
"peter!"
"or number 3? have you asked me about number 3 yet? i can explain number 3 to you."
he won't listen, so you shut him up,
by kissing him.
now, you aren't doing this because you feel bad. but you truly do have feelings for peter. you don't know why it took peter to finally confess to you for you to realize. but you do. you really do.
"now can you please just listen."
peter's cheeks were bright red, he nodded.
"i really like you too peter and gosh, i wish i realized sooner." you were struggling to find the right words to continue, just like peter did a few minutes ago.
"i like you. i like your messy brown hair, i like your weird gadgets and when you ramble about them, i like how caring you are and how patient you are all the time with me."
"and i love you too."

The Great Hall echoed the chatters of students from all the houses. Some hushed whispers and some loud laughs, some bright smiling faces and some silent tear stained faces.
Your body shook with giggles induced by a certain sarcastic prefect from Gryffindor, you were met with a nudge on the knee from the victim of the remark who was pretending to give you a glare.
You just grinned at him and got one in the reply.
You still didn't believe how the cliché meeting with the raven haired boy had turned into this, this beautiful friendship.
When in your fifth year you met this gorgeous owner of the gorgeous eyes, you never would have guessed where it'd take you.
Tumblr media
"Mr.Black that's enough!"
"But it wasn't me, professor! I swear it wasn't me this time!"
You had to bite your lip to stop yourself from bursting into a fit of giggles. Your benchmate, or to be precise, Remus Lupin, the embodiment of a disciplined, sweet, honest guy had been flying paper planes from the last ten minutes of the transfiguration class, making them land beside the professor's desk.
Oh and if that wasn't enough, they were charmed as when they landed, the paper shredded into fragments while in the voice of the victim, Sirius Black, a very bad redemption of ' D'yer Mak'er ' would sound out in the class.
Somehow, one day Remus Lupin sat next to you, a trade of your giggles and his witty remarks was made and now both of you were benchmates.
"Well then who was it?" Mcgonagall asked.
"I don't know, professor! Obviously someone who hates you! And you know that can't be me, I love you with my whole heart!" You snorted behind your hand at his imitation of puppy dog eyes. He was definitely good at it.
"One more time Mr.Black, and you would be serving a week's detention."
"But professor —"
"Enough!"
"Everyone back to work!" And with that, the students went back to work while you were still giggling with the sandy haired boy next to you.
"I can't believe you are so cruel to him, he is your friend!" You asked in fake shock and a grin on your face.
"Well that's what he gets for stealing my chocolates." The boy snorted.
"I knew it!"You both were startled by the sudden voice from behind you.
Sirius was standing behind you both glaring at you two.
"Mr.Black, why are you shouting in the class?" Professor asked furiously.
"Professor, it was Remus who was doing it all! I just heard him saying that!"
Remus and you both turned back towards the professor, with guilty looks on your face and accepting the accusations.
Mcgonagall looked disappointed but just shook her head.
"Mr.Lupin, I would expect better from you, but that would be wrong since you are part of this baboon group."
"Professor!" Four different voices shouted at the same time.
"Professor, we are 'The Marauders'." Peter said, puffing out his chest, followed by the other three.
Mcgonagall just shook her head and said,
"Alright, Mr.Lupin, shift back to your place with Ms.Evans and Mr.Black you take Mr.Lupin's previous place."
"But—but why?" Sirius shouted, his eyes wide.
"Well because I said so." Mcgonagall set him with a look that said no more arguments.
He sighed then said,
"But no detention for these two." You stared at him wide eyed.
Arsehole.
"Considering their previous records, no."
You smirked looked back at him with a look that said,
'suck it'
Tumblr media
That was your first interaction with him and many more after that which lead you two here right now, near the lake sitting under a tree. Well you were sitting and he was lying next to you.
"Do you think the merpeople in the lake would be offended if we gave them fish food? Or if we give them our food."
"What I think is that Sirius, why are you thinking that, of all the things you can think of you thought to think about that thing."
"You hurt my brain."
"Surprised you have one."
He glared at you while you just grinned at him.
He closed his eyes and you were suddenly hit by the realisation how beautiful the boy next to you was.
It would be so easy to fall in love with him. Sirius was, if not the most, one of the most beautiful guys you have met.He was charming, he was beautiful and most of all, he was caring, in his own way. You were jealous of the girls who could touch him in a way that you could never, girls who had the opportunity to look in those eyes and get lost in the cosmos held behind them, girls who could hear his raspy voice, the breathy whispers that escaped him the haze of pleasure.
You closed your eyes and tried to shake off the image in your head. Your palms were suddenly getting sweaty and you felt suffocated.
A small mewl sounded near you. Shaking you out of the daze he put you in, and hadn't even done anything yet. Sirius sat up and looked around, like you, to find the source of voice.
Looking around, your eyes found a pair of big brown eyes staring at you and mewling. Standing up, cautiously you made your way towards the feline and bent to scoop her in your arms. The little kitten was calm, nuzzled her head in your arms making you coo at her.
Sirius, surprised by the sudden change in your demeanour, stood up and made his way towards you, kneeling beside looking at the small animal in your arms.
The ginger white fur poked out of you embrace and a soft expression masked your features as you gently caressed the fur.
He was jealous. He was jealous of the feline and how it had taken her so little time to take you away from him. But at the same time he was thankful. He was thankful because sitting there, kneeling beside you he could see the sunlight reflecting from your hair, the soft tug upwards of your lips, the pretty smile he longed to watch at every waking moment, the soft gentle eyes he would love to get lost in and never to find a way out of. It was maddening how much he adored you. He adored you more than he could feel, you made his heart feel full, and yet always light like it was filled with nothing but love for you. You made him feel drunk on the oldest wine, always in that daze, but he had never tasted one.
It would be so easy right now. So easy to learn forward and brush his lips to your cheek, so easy to tangle his fingers in your hair, so easy just to close his eyes and get lost in the dream in which you were his.
He snapped out his daze when you called his name.
"Siri, look, she's so cute, isn't she?" A soft smile plastered on your face, you looked at him and he wished that you would always look at him like that. He raised his hand to brush it against the fur of the kitten, who raised her head from your arms and nuzzled it around his fingers.
Choked on emotions a raspy hum sounded out of him.
The kitten now had her whole attention on him. Before either of you could comprehend what was happening, she jumped out of your arms, towards him.
Acting on instinct, Sirius caught her mid air and brought her to his chest while both of you stared at her, wide eyed and with wild expression, she just mewled and snuggled close to him.
"Merlin, she nearly gave me a heart attack." Sirius breathed out.
Now that you were out of shock of the stunt the little creature pulled, you watched as Sirius pulled her closer to his chest and how he ran his fingers to her fur.
"Aw, look at that. The bad boy, player Sirius Black turning soft for a small kitten." You cooed, pinching his cheek.
A warmth spread over Sirius at your gesture but quickly recovered and countered back,
"I am not getting soft."
"You are."
"Not."
"Are."
"Not."
"Are."
"Not."
"Are."
"Not."
"Not."
"Are."
"Ha! Gotcha ya."
He scowled but you saw a hint of amusement dancing in his eyes.
"Very mature darling, very mature."
"Learnt from you, darling boy."
Sirius was sure if you called him that one more time he was going to combust. He swallowed the lump of emotions and took a shaky breath, calming himself down.
Merlin, what have you done to him.
"Oh, is that so?" He raised a brow at you, a smirk adorning his face now. There he was. The cocky Sirius Black you knew. And you also knew nothing good came out when his voice changed to that tone.
He slowly set down the kitten from his arms to the ground beside him, who quietly obeyed and sat there without much fuss and meowed at him.
"You want to take it back, love?"
Fuck. Why is that so hot?
"What do you mean, Siri?"
Oh he is dead. But so are you.
And then, hell broke loose. His fingers worked around your ribs, making you giggle uncontrollably. He kept working his fingers around you and then one moment he was sitting beside you, the other, you were splayed over the grass and his body hovering over yours with his hands now splayed along your sides.
As your giggles died, you opened your eyes only to be met with silver ones, staring back at you. Your breath hitched and maybe his did too. The intensity by which his eyes bore into your, taking in all your features at once. His eyes stopped at one point and you knew what was going through his mind.
If you just leaned enough…
You both broke out of trance when a mewl from beside you erupted making you both look at the feline who probably didn't like the lack of attention. It made you both giggle but something changed in the air, and you both knew it.
Tumblr media
"I can't believe you are taking her as a pet."
"Well believe it, because I am." You countered back.
A tsk sound from your left and you looked at the bespectacled boy next to you and frowned.
"What?" You asked, irritation evident in your voice.
"You are hurting our dear Sirius." James said, shaking his head in mock disappointment. You raised your brow in question
"You are breaking his heart." Remus joined in.
"You should know better." Peter contributed.
"What is that supposed to mean?" You asked Remus, only acceptable one to give the answer.
"A cat for a dog, really?"
That made all the occupants of the group laugh out loud. Your voices echoing over the great hall, making everyone dining in, give you an odd look.
"Shut it, Lupin." The victim grumbled from your other side.
"Aw, don't be mad Siri, Pumpkin loves you." You cooed, pinching his cheek.
You could feel the heat rise on his cheek but chose to not comment on it.
"Pumpkin? Really? That's the best you could come up with?"
"Well, then you should have suggested me names, when I asked you."
Before the argument could get more heated, Lily butted in and asked a real question.
"How did you get the permission to keep her?"
You shrugged your shoulders and looked at Sirius's side.
"He asked for permission, ask him."
Sirius looked a bit hesitant and then said,
"I…have my ways."
Unbeknownst to you the other three marauders shooted smirks towards him which he countered by a subtle gesture.
Tumblr media
"You went through all that, just for a cat."
"Not for a cat, wormtail, for the love of his life." James replied back in a sing-song voice earning a smack on his head by the raven haired boy.
In the secrecy of the dorm now, Sirius told the marauders about how he got the permission to keep the cat.
"You went to Minnie, begged on knees to her, then to Dumbledore and did the same for that cat. Wow, Padfoot you must really love that cat." Remus teased the boy earning a kick on his shin.
Sirius grumbled something under his breath, making all the marauders give him a questioning look. When he noticed, a blush crept up his neck and he repeated his words, much more coherently.
"Not a cat, 's Pumpkin."
A loud laughter echoed from the boys dormitory.
Whilst downstairs, Pumpkin was getting restless and was trying to scratch every object in sight.
"Oh my, what are you doing?" You exclaimed taking her away from the table which had a scratch mark on one of its legs.
You were getting irritated by her behaviour and were about to ask Lily what to do when the feline ran out your arms towards the boys dormitory stairs.
Wide eyed you quickly ran, following her.
In the seventh year boys dormitory, a panicked Peter was looking at James being pinned down by a furious Sirius, sitting next to an amused Remus. All that brawl being started by a simple comment such as
"You are worse than me with Lily." By the pinned down boy.
That was the scene you walked in on. Pumpkin supposedly wanted to see Sirius and somehow knew where to go, leading you to walk in that scene.
"What the hell?" Your surprised words apparently broke them out of trance, making them look at you.
You scooped Pumpkin in your arms, who was still restless, and looked at all of them, James and Sirius now returning to sit on the floor.
"Why was James being pinned down by you, Sirius? Am I missing something?" You asked, looking wide eyed at them.
It was James who spoke, panic evident in his eyes,
"What — no—what are you saying— no, shit, I was just teasing him about his feeling for you—"
Everyone fell silent after that except your kitten. Everyone stared wide-eyed at James, while some had amusement in their eyes (Remus, Peter) some had horror (Sirius, You).
Oh. Oh.
You knew that feelings were mutual. You just wanted confirmation. You knew he would never say anything, you knew because of his past, he was scared, he had told you, had broken in your arms. So you will have to, no matter how much it scares you.
Moving towards where he was sitting, you kneeled in front of him, Pumpkin slipping out your arms towards his lap.
From the corner of your eye, you saw the other leave the room.
He was not looking at you, but his fingers had absent mindedly started running through the kitten's fur.
It was now or never.
Gathering all you courage, you asked,
"Is it—was it true—what James said?" He was still not looking at you, but you could see his shoulder tensing and for a moment you were scared. You were scared that maybe you were wrong. But then he nodded his head. It was barely a movement but it was.
Relief flooded through you and you took a shaky breath. Oh how many times had you dreamed about this moment. Your happiness was unexplainable at that moment. It was much more thrilling to know that he felt the same rather than an instinct.
You lifted your hand, touching his cheek, making him look at you.
"Then, Mr.Black, would you do me an honour of sharing custody of Pumpkin with me? Would you do me an honour of being Pumpkin's father?"
You saw the flicker of emotion in his eyes and the way they lit up at your words. Setting Pumpkin at side, he took your face in his hands and kissed you. And it was nowhere near your imagination, it felt well beyond and you couldn't be more happy.
You both didn't stop until a mewl sounded from beside you, making you both huff out a laugh when the small feline crawled between you two.
You looked up at Sirius who just smile and said,
"I would love to be Pumpkin's father and your lover."

“So they're just gone?”
You turn your neck to glare at your friend. Ever since you mentioned your migraines to him one day and he saw one of your episodes once or twice — a little bit more than that — he hasn't stopped bugging you about it. He wanted you to go to the doctors to get checked out. Until, well. Until the migraines miraculously vanished. Your head never bothered you anymore and you're even sleeping better, given the lack of dark circles around your eyes.
Harry wasn’t having it.
First and foremost, he did not believe continuous migraines were cured just like that. Overnight. Because how come he saw you incapable of watching a lecture one day and you're perfectly fine on the other?
Either you are popping some pills or someone magically healed you.
He didn't like any of the options.
He was still worried, okay? Harry cares. He may not be loud with it, but it's you, so he cares. And he cares a lot. You should know better than to just outright lie to him.
“Yes. Why does it matter? I'm fine, shouldn't you be happy I'm no longer whining on your shoulder?”
“You're not taking drugs, are you?”
A surprised laugh echoed around the room and he almost felt his body melt at the sight of your curled up frame from how much you were laughing.
“It amazes me,” you said between chuckles. “that you'd think I'd pull that off.” Not without him knowing, at least. You and Harry are side by side for almost the entire day.
“I don't doubt you.”
“You're losing faith in me.”
“I never had it.” He huffs out a laugh when you throw a pillow at his face, hitting him right on his nose. He fell on his bed with a groan, you moved his homework out of the way before he could mess it up by laying on top of it.
“Just... tell me if it gets to that point again, okay?
You look at him, contemplating something that he can't figure out. With the way you avoid his eyes as you answer, he knows you decided to say something else instead of that first thought. “I will. But it won't.” He found the conviction in your voice strange. You can't know if it will ever get that bad again. Just as the migraines miraculously left, they might come back.
He didn’t question it further.
You went back to your homework, sharing some insights on his as he does with yours. It didn’t last long until your phone started blaring beneath the pillow you're perched on, the sound being slightly muffled by the fabric.
You feel Harry's teasing before he can sputter out a sentence.
“Shut up.” You hissed, picking up the call without looking at the caller ID.
“One Direction. Really?”
“Hello.” You pointedly turn away from his smirky face. You have to take the phone away from your ear due to some loud police sirens that come from the line.
“Hi, hello!” The distinctive voice of Peter Parker replies. Yelling. That was the only way you would be able to hear him anyway. “There's been a thing and I— Shit!”
You concluded the phone is thrown away because his voice suddenly sounds very far.
You offered Harry a lousy excuse to step out into the hallway, frowning at the other voices and the police sirens you could hear.
“Peter, you—”
“I'm back!” Again, you take the phone away from your ear with a sigh. “Sorry, I was— I was busy.” You gathered that fact by the way he sounded breathless.
“Are you running?”
“No!” The noise proceeded to quieten down and you raise an eyebrow at his blatant lie. “Sorry, was I loud? Feels like I was being loud. Sorry.” A door is closing and he's groaning at the end of the line. Instead of finding it funny, you start to get worried, picturing a dislocated shoulder or maybe a deep gash on his arm like last time.
You and Peter made an agreement. When you agreed to be friends again — part of that starting over bullshit that was your idea — you and him worked on filling each other out on both of your lives. Just catching up as good friends do. Less than a month later you were patching up his wounds as if you never had stopped doing that in the first place. Sometimes, you'd even think you were back where you started as if it was all back to the start of your story in Queens. Midtown. Making plans with Ned and Peter for the weekends. Sitting with MJ at lunch as much as she claimed she hated company. . .
There was a pull at your chest every time you remembered it wasn't like this. You weren't back at that time. You couldn't go back. You only had the now and it had to be enough. It was enough.
“Peter, are you hurt?” But you still felt the same agony whenever the idea of Peter being hurt came across your mind. An unsettling fear settling up in your core.
“No.” he shuffled around, clearing his throat. His voice was back for you to hear it clearly. “I'm fine. Just a bank robbery downtown and I—” he paused to let out a heavy sigh. “I'm sorry I'm late, I'll be there in a second, okay?”
You blink, confused. “What? Late for what, Peter?”
“Hanging out?” He said followed by a tinge of uncertainty. “Uh, you said that after class—”
Your brows shot up in recognition. “Oh! Yeah, that's—” Then you checked the time on your phone. You were supposed to meet after class to hang out around 5 p.m. It was still 3 in the afternoon. “Peter,” you held in a chuckle. “That's like, two hours away. You're not late.”
There's silence on his end and you start laughing.
“Oh,” he mumbled, letting out a breath of relief. “That's— That's good. I was thinking that I was like really really late and—”
“You're good, webs.” You softly reassured him. Peter has been working really hard to make sure he doesn't mess up with you again. That included arriving early at places. “Are you at home?”
“Yeah, I just got here.”
“Mhm. And you're not hurt at all?”
“Just a few scratches,” Peter answered with hesitancy. You smiled triumphantly. Not because you're happy he's hurt but because you knew you were right. “I'm fine, alright? You don't have to come.”
“Okay.” You said, stepping back into your dorm room, catching Harry eying your frame from your bed curiously. “No broken limbs though, right?”
Peter's scoff put a smile on your lips. “Have some faith in me. I can handle a robbery.”
The joke Spiderman can handle a robbery but Peter Parker is still clumsy almost slips out but, thankfully, you remember you're not alone.
“Sure. I'll see you later.”
“Hey,” he called your name before you could hang up so you waited for him to speak. “Do you— are you going— how are you— I mean...”
“Peter, breathe.”
You didn’t notice Harry's eye-roll, too busy cracking up at Peter's stuttering mess.
“Okay. Alright. Are you going by yourself? Cause I can pick you up and we can go, you know, so you don't have to go alone?” He clarified, a strain in his voice as if he's been choking up to say that.
“Oh. Harry and I are going to head out together, actually. He's here.”
You patiently waited for his response. “Of course. Yeah. Okay. I'll see you later then. You and— and Harry. And everyone else.”
“Yeah.” You sat down on the bed, biting the inside of your cheek. A weird feeling of guilt in in your chest. “See you later, then. Bye.”
You don't know why you feel guilty about turning him down. All of you would meet in the same place anyway so it's not like you weren't gonna see him, right? It's just a matter of logistics.
“Was that your boyfriend?”
You gave Harry a blank stare as you threw your phone to the side to go back to your assignment. One of his eyebrows arched up in defiance, he played your game of not looking away for a few minutes before you got sick of it.
“I wonder if the reason you're bothered by Peter is because you secretly have a crush on him.”
He looks away first and your lips spread into a satisfied smirk.
“Parker's not my type.” Harry uttered, leaning over your lap to mark a question that you had gotten wrong. His curls tickling your chin. “And this is wrong. It's not fifteen, it's fifty.” He decided to add for good measure, stepping out of your personal space. “I'm not bothered by him.”
You hummed quietly, erasing the previous calculation to redo the math.
“Who is your type anyway?” You asked, trying to cut through the tension. Every time you mention Peter, Harry's mood shifted. He got too quiet. He just didn’t like him for some reason you couldn't yet figure out. Peter and he haven't met before, that much you know. You claim you'll be out of this, because it's none of your business, some people just don't like each other, it happens. But you're curious and if the opportunity to find out the X of the equation comes, you won't run from it.
“You'll never know.” His mumble is so low that you wouldn't have heard it if you weren't sitting so close to each other. He steals the pen you were using, earning a frown from you. “I like this one better.”
“Buy one for you then,” you complained, not moving to get the pen back from him. You take the one he was using instead, eager to finish the assignment so you can have the rest of the afternoon free with your friends.
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
[Pete]: (Picture attached)
[Pete]: Do you want this back?
When you opened the text message, your breath hitched. The image Peter had sent you showed the red scarf, the one you never let go of. You hadn't seen it in a while, ever since... Ever since you paid him a visit that night. The night you were set on burning the scarf along with that collection of pictures you found in your room.
You've been to Peter's place countless times after that, though. You wondered why he never mentioned anything.
[You]: Keep it.
You sighed, conflicted with that short answer. You weren't being rude, you didn't meant to be. But you didn't need the scarf anymore. Not when you have him back in your life. You realized the scarf represented everything the two of you lived and everything you didn't.
You didn't want it back. You weren't ready.
Not now, at least. You hoped he wouldn't be hurt by it.
[You]: Maybe one day you can give it back to me.
Satisfied with your reply, you slipped your phone into your pocket, standing up to help Harry carry five smoothies toward your table. Ned and MJ were on their way, as for Peter, you figured it was the same. His apartment wasn't that far from where you were.
“I know a loser when I see one.”
“Hello, MJ.” You greeted after taking the first sip of your smoothie. You offer her hers and she bumps your hip, sitting beside you in the booth as a greeting. “Where's Ned?” You asked, frowning now that you didn't see the boy arriving along with her. They were always together.
She shrugged, leaning back. “He said he would be ten minutes late. He was gonna get Peter so they could go to this store nearby his place before coming here.”
You didn't take long to acknowledge which store she was talking about. An eye roll later, you crack out a smile in amusement.
“The Star Wars one?”
She nodded and the three of you quickly entered a conversation about a movie that was airing on the local theatre. Ned and Peter arrived in the middle of your discussion, a few bags in their hands that earned your curiosity.
“Did you buy the whole store?” You joked, the edge of your lips curling up as Peter sat down in front of you, placing two little bags on the corner of his seat.
Peter raised an eyebrow at you, amusement all over his features. “Did I?”
“Looks like it.”
“Oh, this is—!” Ned exclaimed, taking a sip of his smoothie. Harry held back a laugh at the boy's blissed-out state. “You got it right.” He then pointed at Harry accusingly. “I love you.”
Harry shrugged, “I know.”
“The one time I got your order wrong—” MJ begins.
“You never get the right one.” Ned deadpanned, interrupting MJ's speech. The girl kicked his chin under the table and Ned proceeded to kick hers back. Just before the childish fight could escalate, you pull both of their ears and hear whining asking you to stop.
Peter and Harry were chucking and you have to backtrack because Harry wasn't glaring at Peter for the first time. Is this progress?
After a mindless walk to the nearest park, all of you silently decided to stick around for a while longer, basking in what was left of the sunset and the hues of orange, pink and blue that mixed together to form the purple sky of the evening.
You teased MJ at her inability to stop texting her girlfriend while in an evening among friends and she flipped you off immediately, blushing. She's been seeing Felicia Hardy for two months and from what you could see, it was becoming rather serious, even though MJ still cannot admit it. You know your best friend and her hidden smiles and secret joy because of a new person she's interested in.
“No, no, no. You don't get it. It's like different universes in one— Actually, no. Multiple universes that are currently happening right now. You could be you, but you're, I don't know, a villain in this other universe, while here, you're just Harry.”
Both of your and Peter's neck snapped as you turned towards the conversation between Harry and Ned.
Harry carried a crease between his brows, confusion twisting the corner of his lips.
“So I'm me... but different?”
Ned nodded vehemently. He'd always get excited whenever the topic of multiverse was brought up.
You, on the other hand, were tense and you did not have to look at Peter to know his reaction as well.
“I'm sure in every reality you're an entitled filthy rich bastard the same way. Don't worry.” MJ’s comment was enough you breathe again. Peter’s awkward laugh at your side.
Harry rolls his eyes, “and I'm sure you're sarcastic and bitchy about anything and anyone, Jones.”
You throw your head back to stare up at the sky.
“Children.” You mocked. Peter attempted to hide his laugh but he was not successful. You found it endearing how his cheeks slowly turned pink. It reminded you of when you were kids, he'd turn into a tomato every time he tried to hold in his laugh. “Behave.”
They initiated a bickering about she started it and he started it and Ned made a comment to side with Harry to add fire to the flames.
Sometimes you thought they could remember and then reality crashed down the moment for what it truly was. It could be good and bad at the same time. Bittersweet might be the right term to name the feeling. Of course you miss everything that was, but what currently is is also good, in a way. You have your people, despite the losses, you have him back and it's all that you could ask for.
“Peter.”
He gives you a sheepish smile, looking down at his shoes as he buried his hand in his jacket.
“Did you like it?”
You close the small box carefully. “How could I not? It's beautiful. I loved it.” You said, then punched his shoulder playfully. He pretends it hurts, but you know it doesn't. “Don't spend that much money on me, Parker.”
Peter shrugged, playing the nonchalant part. “I'll do what I want, actually.”
“You're such an annoying little shit, aren't you?”
He shrugged again, this time he's got a cocky grin and a little smug attitude you recognized from when he got an answer right and you got one wrong in an assignment. It's a glimpse of the carefree nature of Peter Parker. He's a little bit proud at times, but still clumsy around people, shy between strangers, and wears his heart on his sleeve for the people he truly cares about.
“You love it.”
“Help me,” you asked him when everyone stopped by the fountain on your way back to university. You had your back to him and he finally understood what he was supposed to do when he saw your fingers holding the two parts of the necklace behind your neck. He stepped forward, taking both parts from your hands and freezing once your fingers met. Your skin was cold. You shivered as he clasped the necklace, adjusting with a shaky sigh. His throat moved under his hard gulp. “Thank you.” You turned around with the little rose gold maple leaf pendant around your neck.
Peter blinked at you in a daze. The streetlight illuminated your figure as you moved your hair away from your shoulders so it wasn't curling around the necklace anymore.
You're beautiful. So beautiful.
As soon as he saw the maple leaf pendant, you came into his mind. It reminded him of the Fall, your favorite season, which, of course, led him to you. Funny that everything, somehow, lead him to you. He doesn't know what his life would be if it didn't. Nothing would make much sense, honestly. Peter didn't know how the other Peter Parkers handled losing you in their universe. It was such a difficult thought for him to even consider. His initial goal was to protect you and if that meant he had to let you go, then so be it. He would do it. Because you deserved a life without the mess that was his life. You deserved peace and happiness. But that plan backfired when he saw you crossing the street to reach a coffee shop. It was 8pm in the evening and he was on patrol. He had stopped two robberies an hour before so he was getting ready to go home and throw himself into bed, give a rest to his alter ego for the night. Until you showed up, crossing the street so distracted that a car almost hit you. Peter pulled you back in time, a hand on your shoulder to steady you from the scare of the car horn. You had been crying and at the moment Peter's only thought was to comfort you and figure out who had made you feel that way.
“Myself.” You laughed, tearfully. “Sorry. I wasn't paying attention.”
He convinced himself that from that point on he had to watch over you, to simply make sure you wouldn't cross the street without looking both ways again, or trip mad and get a severe head injury. He'd watch you from afar, it couldn't do any harm.
In reality, that was Peter's way of not letting you go and it had not been fair to either one of you. Especially you, who earned headaches and migraines and insomnia because of memories begging to come back, memories that shouldn't have been removed at all.
Peter disappointed you. He disappointed himself too — and probably Aunt May, who must be shaking her head in disapproval wherever she was watching over him from. He's slowly making peace with himself after everything. He's finally seen that having you close by was better than the heartache of letting you go and trying foolishly to move on. He didn't want to move on from you and if that was selfish. . . that was fine. Peter was never anything besides selfless his entire life. And if you wanted to be in his life, why couldn't he want to be in yours?
He would acknowledge the past and make the best out of the present. As for the future, well, he wasn't concerned, it would probably lead him to you. As always.

GOTG Yandere!Rocket Raccoon x Reader - The Things I'd Do
Tumblr media
Summary: After a mission goes ary, ending with you badly injured, you become hyper aware of Rocket's violent tendencies.
Warnings: mentions of violence, character death, revenge killing, one sided love, yandere!Rocket, overprotective!Rocket, heavy angst, not proof read
God, did your head hurt. Actually, you hadn't had a migrane this bad in a long time, certainly not since you stopped drinking so much. This was no hangover, though. Your vision was blurry, and you were tired and light headed. This was a concussion, and a pretty severe one at that. Trying to crane your neck, you took in your surroundings; the ship's infirmary. How did you get here? You could hardly remember anything, other than going on a simple mission.
"(Y/N)..." a timid voice called from the entrance to the room. "You're awake..."
"M-Mantis...?" you croaked, straining to fully sit up, only to have her rush over and worriedly push you back down.
"No, no, please stay lying down!" she fretted in a hushed tone. "You are very hurt, you have to rest."
Reluctantly, you laid your head back down fully. "Can't be that bad," you joked weakly, eyes suddenly flickering to the machinery all around you. You weren't sure how you hadn't caught on until now, but there were needles supplying various things straight to your veins, wires monitoring your vitals, and your breathing was assisted by a mask. "I-It's not that bad, right?" The woamn stood quiet, somberly gazing at her feet. "Right, Mantis?"
"You are on life supposrt." she finally confessed, glancing up at you through her lashes for a second before looking away again. "We weren't sure you would make it..."
"How long has it been?" you finally asked, facing dead ahead, too stunned to even train your sight on her anymore.
"Two weeks and four days." she replied, still stiff as a board. "I'm sorry to bother you, I just came to check on you..."
"Don't be sorry," you finally said, cracking a sad smile. "I'm glad you're here, come here me get outta all this stuff, will ya?"
For a split second, her face lit up with the same joy it usually had and she made a motion towards you, before reaching out, only to fall short. Her expression suddenly morphed into panic and she back away from you at the sound of light footsteps. When the door opened to reveal what she must've been so affraid of, you were left with more questions than answers.
"Mantis," he barked, inhaling an irritated breath. "What did I say about this room?"
"N-No one in or out but you..." she stuttered, crumpling herself up in a corner, far away from both you and him.
"So you do understand, you just choose to go behind my back? Is that it?" Rocket's fur stoof on end with aggitation, which grew taller by the second.
"N-No, Peter asked me to-"
"I don't give a fuck what Quill said, get the fuck outta here before I-" his blood suddenly ran could, robbing him of all his anger and harsh words, giving her time to escape weeping. "You're awake." With that, you held his full attention as he padded closer to you, a weak grin splitting his face as he reached your hedside, hoping up on a stool to be closer toy our level.
You on the other hand were not as overjoyed to see him as he was you. You had shot up to sit, hugginy our knees during his outburst, having never heard him that upset. You'd seen Rocket angry- furious even- tons of times, but this was...malice and it was so unlike him. "Rocket...why did you yell at Mantis like that..." you asked in a cautous whsiper.
"I'm sorry ya had to see that, doll," he started, reaching both hands out to cup your cheeks. "I just been in here takin' care of ya and I didn't want anybody to screw anything up." he explained, taking on a gentle tone as one of his thumbs stroked your cheek. "I keep tellin' 'em to stay outta here but nobody ever listens to me."
"Rocket, you were really mean to her...you really should apologize." You pressed, wiggling away form his touch. "She was just worried and checking up on me."
Rocket sighed, sctraching the back of his neck sheepishly. "Well, doll, when you're right, you're right. I'll find her later." he relented, hoping down and scurrying over to a nearby table to pick up the tablet that had been collecting all the data on your condition. "So, how ya feelin'?"
"Not great," you admitted. "I have a really bad headache and..." It suddenly occoured to you to try and get more information about what had happened from him. "Hey, since you've been the one taking care of me, why am I on life support?"
"Well, i couldn't just let you die, could I?" he asked rhetorically with a laugh. "Honestly, you should be thanking you for bringing you back."
"Back from where." you muttered, more as a command than a question. He chuckled nonchalantly in responce, mimicking you while shaking his head. "Rocket." you warned sternly, making him halt, rolling his eyes as he turned to face you. "Where did you bring me back from?"
"Well..." he shifted awkwardly in place, rubbing the back of his neck. "You were dead." he finally confesed, blowing right past the revellation into more gruesome detail. "You had to fuck around and get your head beat in so I had to go in and..." His voice trailed off as your focus pulled away, horror washing over you. You had never been relgious, but you knew now that this was wrong. Your skin felt like it wasn't in place and your heart begin to feel like it didn't belong to you.
Rocket- someone you trusted- had gone and dragged you back from the dead, played God, who knows what else? You began to fold in on yourself, pulling your knees back to your chest in discomfort as your stare seems miles away. He could recognize the symmtoms of your oncoming panic attack before you could and he reached out to you, scurrying closer.
"Hey, Hey, don't go and freak out on me ok?" he urged, hopping up on the bed with you. "Try not to think about it too much, you're alive after all." He continued to talk while you mentally checked out, your mind entirely broken as you studied the skin on your hand. "And this is just the half of it." he said. "You shoulda seen how many of those knuckleheads I took out for you."
It was at this moment, while Rocket began to curl up in the crevice of your side that you noticed: In the reflective surface of a nearby tool tray, one of your eyes had changed color and the was nopciable scarring covering the largest portion of your face.
"Killin, takin' care of you. You got no idea the things I'd do for you, doll face."

The Concert
Iron dad and Spiderson
I've paid my dues Time after time
Tony mumbled the lyrics of the song playing while still focusing on his new project. Peter, sitting not so far away from Tony, lifted his head from his very much boring school paper he had to finish and smiled brigthly.
"That's one of my favorite !"
It was Tony's turn to move his head up and look at Peter.
"It's one of the best, but not my favorite though." he answered, returning back to his work.
I've done my sentence But committed no crime
"I didn't know you liked Queen."
"Why would I not?"
"I don't know. I just never heard it playing in your lab. I love it though." Peter's knee bopped on sync with the beat of the song.
Tony stopped for a second.
And bad mistakes I've made a few
"Are you sure I've never mentioned I like Queen?" Tony asked. Peter shrugged, tapping his pen on the desk.
"I mean, everybody does. But it just never occurred to me that you do too. You like your hard rock and metal better." Tony chuckled.
It's true that there wasn't enough Queen songs playing in his lab.
"Queen does a good job at that too. You should have seen them live, my god what an experience it was."
I've had my share of sand Kicked in my face
Peter whipped his head up so fast he thought he might have broken his neck.
"What did you just say?"
Homework now forgotten, his focus was on Tony and Tony only.
But I've come through
"Wait- the best part is coming, shut up."
As Tony started singing full heartedly the chorus Peter replayed his previous comment in his head.
You should have seen them live, my god what an experience it was
What does that mean.
"What does it mean?" Peter asked, still not quite sure he actually understood what his mentor said. He couldn’t possibly...
"That they're the champions it's kinda obvious Peter."
"NO. What do you mean when you say that I should have seen them live?!" Peter all but screamed. He wanted answers and he wanted them now.
That seems to get Tony's attention as he put down his tools - previously used as a microphone for his magnificent performance of the song.
"Peter, are you okay?" he asked and Peter's frustration only grew bigger.
"Do you mean to tell me you went to a Queen concert ?" he finally asked. Tony raised one eyebrow, confused.
"Uh- yeah?"
Peter's jaw fell open.
"WHAT."
Tony stared at a visibly shocked Peter Parker. "What?"
"WHAT?!" Peter repeated.
"FRI, is the kid okay there?" Tony asked, keeping an eye on Peter while checking his vitals on the screen next to him.
"Peter is fine, he seems to be experiencing shock after hearing about your experience at a Queen's concert." the AI answered as Tony huffed a laugh.
"Oh okay. Well, yeah I was 14 and on a trip to Paris with my mother. They were there too so we went to the concert and-"
Peter interrupted him, "Do not tell me you met them."
A silence fell in the room as Peter waited for a reply. He watched Tony who stood still.
"Why aren't you saying anything?"
"Well you just told me not to."
That made Peter lose it completely.
"Oh my- don't- is that real? Are you lying to me?"
"I didn't say anything." Tony put his hands up in the air, showing his innocence.
"Did you?"
"Say anything?"
"NO! Did you meet them?" Peter asked again.
"Yes." he answered bluntly.
Peter blinked. One. Two. Three times.
"And you were 14." Tony nodded.
"And on a random trip to Paris." the man added. At some point, Peter was completely disconnected from reality.
How was this supposed to be real? You think you know somebody and then, yeah I went to a Queen concert when I was on a trip to Paris and I actually met them.
What the hell. How the hell. Why the hell.
Tony, who still hadn't move from his position over on his stool, snapped his fingers a few times to wake Peter up from his "daydream" or whatever happened to him.
"Were you ever going to mention this?" Peter blurted out once he was back in this very, very, weird reality. Tony smiled, no- he smirked that bastard.
"If i started telling you all the things that I did and the people that i've met, we would never be done Peter."
This only made Peter groaned in frustration.
"There's worse ?" he asked, although he already knew the answer.
"I have George Lucas' phone number."
Nevermind. Whatever answer he thought he would get could have never been worse.
"FRIDAY I broke him, didn't I?" Tony asked his AI as he looked at the very much not-functioning Peter in front of him.
"It appears so."
'Cause we are the champions of the World
a/n: THANK YOU FOR READING!! This is such a messy story. Also I cannot imagine Tony Stark not listening to Queen- like...impossible. Big Queen Fan here. Also this is a reference to a post I made a few weeks (months?) back saying that I can't believe there are people in this world who went to a Queen concert. Peter's reaction is definitely inspired by how I would react- and it's not over dramatic, it's accurate. Can we say under dramatic? Because that's what it is. Anyway, thank you for the support on my last post, it means a lot. You guys gave me the energy to come back to writing. Don't hesitate to send requests, I could try doing some stuff!!! XX

So, what is Berserk about after all?
Please be considerate to me, don’t repost this, don’t share it outside of tumblr, don’t copy parts of it, thank you.
Tumblr media
I have read really funny critiques and reviews of Berserk. Often they would refer to Miura supposedly saying that he didn’t plan everything out and they would use this statement to support their argument that after the Golden Age arc the story just looked like it dragged on. One, don’t ever fully believe what artists and writers say about their work. Second, without a proper conclusion it is impossible to make that kind of judgement and the story is ongoing. Then, not having a plan or having just vague ideas and taking inspiration here and there isn’t how manga works or how it gets published. When asked in an interview why he started creating Haibane Renmei as a doujinshi, Yoshitoshi Abe replied: “With mainstream publishing, it would've been difficult to do it with that avenue because of this particular approach with everything being adlibbed. I don't know how the story will be developed, how it's going to end up, or what the ending's going to be. If you go to a mainstream publisher, by their general approach, they have to know what the characters are, who they are, what the story's going to be, and how the story's going to develop so they know if there's going to be a serial, continuing storyline. They need to know how it's going to go”. Even though plans can be renewed and renegotiated, Miura still needed to make solid advanced plans and decisions and respect deadlines and page quotas. Even without considering this, the world building of Berserk seems too intentional and coherent to me to think that he didn’t really know how the story would go. Granted he created a reality that could be changed and bent by the human imagination and psyche, from the inside. This happened to be a brilliant choice for a long project like the Berserk manga.
I once read a review that pointed out the weakness of the later arcs and episodes, making the hypothesis that Miura was influenced by the success of stories like One Piece and Pirates of the Caribbean. I can’t really say that I share this opinion, either. Reviews like these make me smile, because they reveal how people missed a very big clue that Miura never really hid. Berserk was inspired by the story of Peter Pan as told by J.M. Barrie and reinterpreted in several different ways, not only visually. He went as far as dedicating to it the Lost Children chapters, immediately after the Eclipse, when the tension of the story was higher than it ever had been. We should read the Lost Children as an homage to the story of Peter Pan and Wendy that plays into the already disquieting themes of the original in darker tones and with much more horrifying elements; but we should also pay great attention to the Lost Children chapters as an important recontextualization of the events of the Golden Age arc. While I want to dedicate proper analysis and attention to this, I am going to add here that in Peter Pan we already had the pirates, the islands with hidden caves and the mermaids. The journey to Skellig island and Elfhelm had to be long enough for Moonlight Boy to make an appearance at least twice before the big reveal of his full identity the third time, and since he can only appear on nights of a full moon, Miura had to make the readers feel that time had passed. But Guts had always belonged in Neverland.
In my rudimentary outline of various elements that contributed greatly in building the world and story of Berserk, I actually ran out of space. And I want to properly address the various points and develop them more. For the moment I just really wanted to show that Miura had a very strong grip over the story and that he was really attentive to nuances. I said to myself, if I want to criticize the writing in Berserk at least I have to make sure I understand it to a sufficient extent.
Also I really wanted to at least give an idea of how important a role Shōjo manga had to Berserk. I hope to be able to fully explore this element soon.

I didn't ask, did I? (Chapter 6)
Happy begrudgingly steps aside and walks after Tony into the diner. The billionaire skillfully ignores the gasps of surprise and the poor attempt to take pictures of him secretly as he strides straight up to the counter. "Two cheeseburgers and a large fry. To go." "Please get in line and wait for your turn, Sir." "Excuse me?" Tony slowly pulls his sunglasses down and glances at the skinny teen behind the register. "Bad hearing comes with age, huh?" mutters the teen under his breath. Happy makes a choking sound behind him. ___________________ Or, how Tony Stark gets sassed by some high schooler working part-time and makes it his mission to figure out what he did to make this kid he'd never seen hate him. If that means annoying the hell out of said high schooler, that's not his problem.
Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Chapter Summary: Tony and Rhodey visit a Subway in Queens where a certain teenager works at.
Read on Ao3
"Tony, where are we driving?"
"Honeybear, is that distrust I'm hearing?"
"Don't deflect on me, Tones."
Rhodey curses as the billionaire pulls into a parking bay meant for busses, pointedly ignoring the honk of the cars for forgoing using the turning signal.
Tony turns towards the man, pulling down his sunglasses.
"Why are you here?"
"It's called minimizing collateral damage."
"Hardy har."
The billionaire rolls his eyes.
"Who sent you? Dear old Cap or my mildly disappointed and highly furious fiance?"
"Nobody needs to send me. I can tell on my own when my best friend is about to throw his image down the bin," replies Rhodey.
"I liked you more when you held my hair back as I vomited all over college toilets."
"I've never held your hair back, Tones."
Ignoring the other, Tony pulls back onto the street. "We're going to a lovely little place called Subway to visit my favorite server and deliveryman, Peter Parker."
"That's the kid from the video, isn't he?"
"It's the name of the kid who painted all over my building and seems to carry an incredible amount of unnecessary distaste against me," counters Tony.
Rhodey can only sigh.
The store is empty when they arrive.
He can spot the kid behind the counter, cleaning. Shutting the car door rather loudly, he catches Parker glancing up, and Tony feels a sense of smugness when he observes the panic rising in brown eyes as the teen hurries over to flip the open sign around.
Too late.
The doorbell rings, and the teen's shoulders visibly tense up.
Tony saunters into the small place as if owning the place. He glances around with mild interest before settling his gaze on the person behind all the trouble he is currently dealing with.
Peter Parker has the nerve to look pissed at them being there, and Tony wants to laugh at the absurdity of it as he should be the one glowering at the teen. But being the adult, he straightens his shoulders, throwing a press smile into the room.
"I want the Turkey Special and the Chicken one for my friend."
"We are closed already."
"The door is still open."
"You are a terribel costumer."
"That's mild coming from you."
Despite the icy glare, the kid walks past them to flip the sign and lock the door. On his way back, he throws Rhodey a curious glance before settling his icy glare at Tony.
Tony wipes some imaginary crumbs from a table. He leans back, arms crossed over his chest as he watches the teens scrutinize him from behind the counter. Rhodey sits down at a chair, keeping silent for now.
"You're going to take our order anytime now?"
The adults in the room throw each other a look at the string of curses that the kid doesn't even try to tone down as he turns around and rather aggressively grabs a tablet and two baguettes.
"I want the mustard honey sauce," throws Tony in while the teen shoves the baguettes in the oven.
The kid looks him straight in the eye after pulling the heated bread out before he squeezes a giant heap of garlic sauce onto one half.
Tony thinks about waiting before asking further questions, eyeing the knife with which the kid is spreading the sauce over the bread.
"How did you do it?"
"I don't know what you are talking about."
The kid puts a good amount of Tuna cream onto the bread.
"I said I wanted turkey."
The kid looks up, takes out the container with the turkey slices, and walks into the storage room. He excites the room with a steel container containing more tuna cream, which he promptly smears onto the already with tuna dripping baguette.
"We are out of turkey," he says without batting an eye.
Rhodey watches the encounter with amusement.
The kid continues working on their order, avoiding every question by adding condiments no one asked for with skilled fingers.
"I know it was you, don't try playing dumb. The question is how you did it."
Peter looks up, mustering Tony as if staring long enough, will tell him what the man would dislike the most before grabbing a handful of olives and onions and placing them onto the baguette.
"I have no idea what you are talking about, Mr. Stark."
The teen peels the black gloves from his hands and throws them into a bin before handing over their order.
Ignoring the monstrosity of a sandwich the kid tries to poison them with, Tony's eyes widen at the sight of Parker's hands.
"You are doing this on purpose, aren't you?" he asks, squinting at the in-black color-covered hands.
"You are making no sense, Mr. Stark."
The kid turns around, and the man catches sight of a black streak on the kid's neck, looking like a handprint from rubbing his neck with dirty hands.
"You are covered in paint one day after my Tower got vandalized!"
"Oh, this?" asks the teen innocently, glancing down at his blackened hands. His eyes meet Tony's, a little twinkle playing in them.
"The chain of my bicely popped out. Got my hands dirty getting that back in."
"You don't even own a bike!"
"Okay, I think it's time to calm down," Rhodey pulls his friend back by the arm before casting a glance at the knife the kid's about to put away. "Both of you."
The teen glares at them before he begins to clean the place up. Rhodey turns around and pulls Tony towards a corner, feeling the kid's eyes following them without stopping his tasks.
"Tony, I get you are mad, and the story with the bicycle does sound suspicious, but what you are doing borders on stalking a minor. The kid is at least as stubborn as you. Throwing accusations at him without clear evidence is getting us nowhere," he hisses under his breath, pulling on the sleeve of his friend's suit as the latter continues glaring over his shoulder.
"Oh, it's us now?" mocks Tony, grimacing at his friend's advice. He should be the one doing the rational thinking, but the longer he bothers getting to the bottom of the enigma called Peter Parker, the more agitated he becomes. The kid glares back at him. Tony makes an "I'm watching you sign" which gets rudely interrupted by Rhodey, who forces his hand down and hisses at him to stop picking a fight.
The kid shakes his head and sticks his tongue out at him before turning and washing out the dirty rag in his hands.
"Tony, I'm always on your side, but even you'd have to agree this isn't the way. You cannot continue following the kid and pressuring him to talk to you."
"And what is your plan?" asks Tony, tearing his heated gaze from the kid and turning towards his best friend. "He manages to make the company lose millions of dollars in a day with that little paint job. The least he owns me is a couple of answers."
"This wouldn't have happened if you didn't stalk and shove him in a corner in the first place."
"Are you telling me this is my fault?"
"Yes. That's precisely, what I'm doing. It would help if you backed up, Tony. I'm serious. Act civil and don't throw your money around, and you might get an answer, but don't force the kid."
Tony knows Rhodey has a point, as much as it pains him to admit it.
Glancing past the man, who's giving him a calculated look, he catches the Parker kid squinting at them from behind the counter. When the teen notices he's getting observed, he quickly looks down, corners of his mouth pulling into a frown.
Tony sighs, pulling his sleeves straight.
God, kids could be complicated.

West - Part II
Time moves slow
It's been a year, it's been forever, it's been a day, he feels as if he could walk down to the station right this moment and Peter would be there waiting on the platform to say goodbye. He closes his eyes, and sees Peter smiling at him, feels the hands on his shoulders and the warm kiss on his forehead. And then it blurs, he can't remember the last thing Peter said to him, he can't remember if they hugged or shook hands last, he'd told Peter he loved him, hadn't he?
When half of your heart has yet to come home
He hears the whistle of a train through the open classroom window, and it comes back like a flash, Peter leaning out of the carriage to wave, and something snapping, Ed's heart tearing out of his chest, words spilling out in a wild cry, carrying over the sound of wheels turning and steam hissing and steel track shifting. "I love you! I love you, Pete! Please! Don't forget! Don't die! I love you!"
He had run after the train, run to the edge of the platform, where he was forced to stop, but his heart hadn't, and he'd listened for a long time till he was sure he could hear nothing more.
Every minute's adding up
I miss you, Ed. It's like losing a limb, I've found. I can do without you, but nothing is the same and everything's harder. Remember Acamus—how he complained for years afterward, always grumbling about needing another hand?
And leaving a mark on us
There are scars on the back of Ed’s hand, where one of the falcons had grabbed him, and they weren't there a year ago, Peter hasn't seen those, and how many scars does Peter have now? How many places where the skin had mended imperfectly? How many marks Edmund does not know the origin of?
He wonders sometimes.
I can't get you out of my mind
They aren't on the list Mother gave him, but he buys carrots at the green grocers, the short fat ones Peter likes, and doesn't remember till he's halfway home.
I can't get you out of my mind
"Hullo, Ed," calls Benjy from down the street. "How's tricks?"
"Oh, Peter's alright," Ed says, swinging around with a smile, squinting in the sun. "Getting sent to Palastine for a bit; says that should be interesting."
I can't get you out of my mind
He has a whole book of maps of Palestine and the Middle East from Professor Kirke— maps from the time of Abraham, to the conquest of Joshua, to the time of Jesus—and he writes: Tell us all about Jerusalem, if you get there.
I solemnly swear
I'm not going to tell you to remember anything this time, brother. Just know that I feel your pain, and grieve Hans's death as deeply as you. He was a faithful friend to you, and I was always grateful to know he had your back. I'm here, at home, sitting at our desk, and there's a summer thunderstorm banging around outside, though the rain on the roof sounds nice. I'm safe, I promise.
I swear that I'll never try
"Is Peter still over there?" Colin asks when they meet on the platform in a crowd of school boys, and there's a weight, a weariness in Edmund's clipped reply: "Yes. Why?"
The younger boy hesitates, before: "Well, I rather wish he'd come back so you'd be happy again."
We'll be just fine
He aces his School Cert, he's sure, though he won't know until the end of term what his marks actually were. But Master Walsh looks very pleased the day after, and tells him, "Keeping up the family name, I dare say."
Ed glows inside as he goes down to supper.
We'll be just fine
Rags and Tarek are fast friends now, and I can see she'll be in a good hands whenever I leave. She sleeps with him, on his mat under my cot. I've tried to make him sleep with the cook, since he is on kitchen duty, but he refuses, and I won't let him be chained or locked up. He's such a good kid otherwise, nobody really minds. When he's not on KP, he follows me everywhere, like a shadow. Tarek, though. It means 'morning star'.
We'll be just fine
Took Rose out for a gallop all the way up to the tor. Sun was out and made it warm, and with a few late heather blooming, the moor was quite beautiful. Took a lunch and a hymn book; went over my tenor parts and the solo for choir. Sounds boring when I write it out like that, but I know you like to hear that sort of thing.
I know that we will
He does not cry on the second Christmas without Peter. He stands in church with his arm around Lucy, and they sing loud and clear and triumphant, Then tolled the bells, more loud and deep / God is not dead, nor doth He sleep. He laughs at Susan's stories from the hospital over Christmas dinner, and listens to Eustace breathing across the room as they fall asleep.
Somewhere out there on a dusty military base, Peter is falling asleep in his cot, and thinking of home.
We'll be just fine
The lines march across the maps, week in, week out. Pushing further and further toward and into Germany. He marks with a pencil and a steady hand. Places the one pin with the little lion head flag squarely in Belgium.
A sense of excitement builds in the boys who cluster round that wall of the Sixth Form common room, an air of hope, a taste of victory.
We'll be just fine
He kneels by his bed, letter cupped in his hands, and his lips move but no sound comes, as his heart reaches for the aching one that bleeds through in ink. Peter marches head on into the maw of the dragon, and Edmund can only beg the Lion of Judah to go ahead of him.
It's a matter of time
The chapel bells ring wild and clamorous, and the courtyard is flooded with boys doing their best to imitate them. In the middle of the unrestrained celebration, Edmund Pevensie pauses, stands still, looks up to search the May sky. He smiles, tired and worn and battlescarred, recalling victory cheers of years past, the rattle of swords on shields and the cheerful yowls of the big cats. He remembers the longing to ride home again. He remembers standing above Cair Paravel's gate, and seeing the white unicorn spring forward into a gallop.
He gets tackled into the dirt by Colin and Fred and Pat, and then he's laughing with the rest of them.
Till our compass stands still
He stands on the platform, hands in his pockets, quite still, hat pulled low in the summer drizzle. But his eyes keep moving, scanning, searching, face after face, skipping from one to another, and finding no satisfaction. Until... just dismounting the first carriage, tall, clean shaven, officer's uniform, hat in his hand, rain in his golden-brown hair, blue eyes all weary and laughing that lock onto Edmund's, go wide with startled light.
They are magnets, drawn together through the crowd, and he knows Peter is shouting, but Ed has no breath as he is wrapped in his brother's embrace, crushed against the broad chest of his king, his captain, his best friend in all the wide worlds. He clings to Peter, and weeps for a long time.
Till our compass stands still
The maps are forgotten in the dark, and he traces no lines, measures no distance, for the great heart beats against his spine, and the warm breath brushes the back of his neck, and they will sleep safe together tonight. He is here, and Peter is here.
They are home.

Peter Parker may have been one of the Smartest boys you knew but he was also stupidly oblivious. But it wasn't like he could notice you when a particular blonde clouded his mind on the daily. you understood him to some extent. She was gorgeous, an officer's daughter, a good job, on the way to a bright future and so many other things you didn't want to think about.
You lived next door to Peter but he never fixed his eyes on you like he did her, never seemed so interested in you like he was in her. You went to his house, laid across his messy bed comforters and listened to him talk about his random facts while you studied, fixed the glasses on his face, baked with aunt may, cheered him on when he'd skate, and held him close when he lost his uncle and still nothing.
He'd say thanks when you held eye contact with him, fixing the frames on his face and for a second when he'd look back at you with his sparkling brown eyes you'd let yourself believe he'd kiss you, only for him to smile, pearl white teeth on display in a sarcastic manner.
"Thanks" he breathes, giving you a dorky smile. No matter how many times you saw it you never got tired of that. You nod, tucking your books in your bag with a sigh.
"Did you see her earlier? She looks so pretty in the pictures I took," He exhaled, showing you her on his computer for the thousandth time. Gwen Stacy. he seemed to love taking her pictures. It's not like you were photogenic or would feel okay with such things but you couldn't help but want him to take pictures of you like he did her.
"Yeah" you replied flatly and he turned to look at you with an eyebrow raised.
"What's this about? Why do you hate her so much" he snapped. your jaw clenched as you dropped the pencil.
"I don't hate her." You answered, sounding more irritated than you meant to.
"Are you that jealous of her?" He started making you look his way. That question seemed to stab you right in the chest and you hated how it was partly true.
"I'm not jealous" you shot back, but your voice shakes.
"Yeah, you sure about that? Seems like you have been since that day at the lab." He said. The lab. the one she did with the spider's that stole Peter's heart from you, that's if you ever had a chance; you'd like to think you did.
"I'm not!" You stood, stuffing the rest of your things in the bag and running down the steps.
"Sure you aren't, that's why you're running!" He yelled, rushing out behind you. You got to the door, turning the knob before you halt in place, tears about to break loose from their barrier.
"You're so damn stupid Peter Parker." You shouted slamming the door. You'd apologize to aunt may later, right now you needed to get as far away from him as possible. Rolling your eyes, you walked from his house frustrated. How could he not see it! Tears trickled down your cheeks as you came to the conclusion that as long as Gwen Stacy walked the earth you wouldn't have a chance.
You spent most of your time avoiding Peter after that night. He tried to speak to you, probably to apologize but you didn't give him the chance. If he was going to see you as nothing but a friend you figured it was better to let your friendship go, there was no point in ripping your heart in half anymore…
Your feet dragged across the cement as you walked the long trail in New York. you try not to look like you're moping around but you do and apparently other people noticed.
"Bad day?" a male voice says and you look up meeting a head of brown curly hair brown.
"Yeah, sorta" you respond, continuing to walk, he follows.
"I'm Harry, Harry Osborn" he introduced and you nod attempting to smile. Harry's somewhat attractive but you're not entirely over Peter. You're still hung up on the skater nerd with his perfect hair and eye-catching smile.
"Who's the guy that's got your pretty head all knotted up." He says and you look up with a chuckle
"That obvious huh?" You say slowing down a bit.
"Definitely." He teased.
"not to Peter Parker'' you say under your breath but he catches it. He doesn't come back to you for a while then he's back at your side.
"Peter? Peter! Hey, I know him" he concluded and something about the way he says it makes you uneasy
"So that's the guy?" He laughs.
"That's the guy that's got you like this? God he can be so infuriating" he says in a high pitched voice, eyes twitching a bit as he throws his hand out exaggerating, you nod.
"Let me take you out to dinner, I'll make it worth your while." He grins. You think about it, there was no reason to turn down Harry. At least he showed interest in you. It had been awhile since anyone did.
"Okay," you agreed,
"great!" He claps, making you jump a bit as you nod with a nervous grin. you just hoped you didn't regret this.
You shut your locker pulling the key free from the lock only to meet Peter behind it. You sigh, turning to walk when he grabs your arm.
"You can't go out with Harry. he's not a good person." He warns and you only chuckle rolling your eyes.
"Oh, because he's actually showing interest in me he's a bad person. Just because you didn't want me Peter Parker doesn't mean that no one else does." You say pulling your arm free and continuing to walk. Peter pauses before he rushes back to you.
"What? Wha- what are you talking about- you know nevermind I'm serious about this he's not what you-"
"No, I'm serious. I'm going out with Harry, stop trying to ruin it for me. Let me be happy and move on from you. I don't want to cry anymore," You finished leaving a confused Peter in the hallway.
It was Friday. 8:00 pm sharp. You paced back and forth in the park waiting for Harry to show. Your heart beat fast like drummers beating drums, anxiety that had you swallowing when there was nothing to swallow. He should have been here but you didn't want to accept the fact that maybe he wasn't coming because that would hurt too much so you still waited.
You sighed, collapsing into the bench. Maybe you just weren't someone people wanted. You started to second guess yourself, looking over every aspect of your life, judging it. You supposed you weren't as put together as you could be, but that's because you were basing your life off Internet girls when in reality no one's life was perfect, they were just better at photographing the good stuff.
A loud zooming sound caused you to turn your head only to see a man on a floating board. He looked a lot like Harry but more like Harry if he shot drugs through his veins. You turned quickly trying to decide if you should run. You knew coming out this late alone was a bad idea. right now you were cursing yourself for it and just praying you got away safely and everything was fine.
"Sorry I'm late sweetheart, but you know I had to come in style!" He laughs sending an unwanted chill down your back. You don't turn again, continuing to face forward.
"What?! You don't like my look?" He says, guiding the board in front of you.
"I thought green suits me." He smirks before he's diving down to scoop you up from the seat. You hold on to him out of instinct, afraid of falling as you look down over the zooming city. Everything is like motion blur, streaked together by thin lines. When you look up you realize where you were headed…
the central park tower.
You try not to panic.
It's gonna be alright, it's gonna be alright.
I'm okay, I'm okay.
"Do you like it beautiful?" He asked.
"Father always said if you want to wow a lady, take her to the sky!" He joked and you tried not to cry forcing a smile on your face but the tears were glossing over your eyes too quickly and fell even faster.
"It-it's great Harry" you answer looking down at the speeding cars.
"You know you really shouldn't lie, especially not like this" his voice dropped in tone and you can hear the rage Slyther up.
"No, no, no Harry I promise-"
"Let her go harry!" A familiar voice says and you sigh, a weight lifting off your chest.
"Peter! Finally, I was worried you'd miss her before she left" he blew a breath, hands moving back and forth. Peter? That's why he sounded familiar. You break into a sob.
"I'm assuming you hadn't told your best friend about the hero thing." Harry confirms
"guess that puts us both in the same boat" he said
"you know, you always had a way of ignoring things, or not noticing them. So let me ask you, at what point did you realize she was in love with you? Or did you still not know that yet?" He moved so now you were hovering over New York traffic.
"Because I did, I could tell by the way she looked when I found her" he says, pulling you from his body so you dangle over the speeding cars.
"If you love her, you'll catch her or maybe you're still into Gwen which means poor heartbroken [name] will fall to her death and be run over. Over and over again until they realize her lifeless body is in the road.
"Peter please, I'm sorry" you cried looking at him.
"Please Harry you- you don't have to do this. We can work through this! She has nothing to do with this!" Peter reasoned
"except she doesn't she? Because you do love her, like I loved the things you took. Now why must you always try and reason. you know I'm not a man who changes my mind." He says and then he lets go of your wrist…
From that moment on everything moved and sounded in slow motion like in a movie. From the moment Peter jumps screaming, to the tears sliding down your cheeks. All this for peter. Because you wanted to move on. Because he was spiderman and had enemies.
Your eyes shut, deciding that if you were gonna go you wouldn't go fighting and crying. Although it would hurt when you hit the pavement you didn't want to struggle. You can't stop your beating heart and even now you won't judge Peter if you fall, he tried to catch you and that was all he could do. he always tried and you wished you could tell him that because you love him and you know he wouldn't let you die even if he didn't feel the same he'd try to save you.
Peters crying, he tries to control it but it's you, he's done everything with you. laughed, cried, fought but he'd never prepared to lose you. It took all this for him to realize he loved you enough to turn his body and take the hit if he didn't land on his feet. Because dying was better than being without you. It hurt when you didn't speak to him but he had to admit he'd taken it a bit far with what he said especially since you liked him which probably made it hurt so much more and he didn't even get to apologize.
Sure he thought he loved Gwen but she had nothing on what you had. You two were thread weaved together pulling the heaviest weight, you were the sand and the ocean with the breeze that smelled like both of you together when breathed in. So he had to catch you and he did. He was late but he got you, he always would. Peter was late to class some days, missed his aunt once and was late to realizing he loved you, but it was better late than never.
When he got you both safely to the floor he kissed you; kissed you before your eyes could open. making all your tears and his mix as his face pressed to yours. your skin was soft and damp in his hold, lips even softer and he wondered how he never kissed you before. He tried to apply the pressure to your lips you had on his heart, tried to hold you tight enough to let you know he'd never let this happen again because he'd protect you.
When he pulled back he was panting, a thousand pounds on his back lifted and he felt so much lighter.
"I love you, I love you so much okay? I'm sorry I didn't tell you before. And you can't- and you can't do this again no matter how stupid I am, fight for me! Fight for me like you have for years." He sobbed looking between your eyes.
"But if you do, I'll save you, and I won't be late next time, I promise."
