Peggy Carter - MCU/Agent Carter

Peggy is wonderful when she appears in the Cap movies, but she really had her chance to shine in Agent Carter. I’ll never stop being disappointed that it never got a third season to resolve that tremendous cliffhanger. Agent Carter wasn’t a uniformly great show, but it was absolutely a great showcase for Peggy’s character.  

Ronnie Lee - Schitt’s Creek

I was tempted to go with Stevie, but in the end, Ronnie won. Every face Ronnie makes and every line she delivers is gold. Her feud with Patrick is everything. She doesn’t get nearly enough screen time, but every moment she’s on screen is glorious. She has no time for you shit and I love it.  

Carolyn Knapp-Shappey - Cabin Pressure

She is absolutely ruthless. If you take your nasty, hateful ex-husband’s beloved private jet in the divorce, paint ‘My Jet Now’ on the tailfin, and start your own charter airline with it, are you anything other than an absolute bad ass?  

Shannon Rutherford - Lost

I didn’t stick with Lost much past Shannon’s death. Maybe I’ll go back and watch the whole thing eventually? I know she shows back up in flashbacks and alternate timelines(? listen, I really don’t know what happened in later seasons). But I was in a Sayid/Shannon role-play for YEARS, long after my partner and I both stopped watching the show, and Shannon will always have a place in my heart.  

Claire Temple - MCU/Defenders

Is this cheating? Technically this is not an entirely new fandom because Peggy is also MCU, but Claire is an entirely different part of the MCU that doesn’t really intersect with Peggy, so I’m counting it. The moment she started pulling Matt out of dumpsters, I was in love.  

Éowyn - The Lord of the Rings

LotR is not exactly full of women, but Éowyn is an absolute scene-stealer in the movies. I haven’t read the books since shortly before the movies started coming out, so ... it’s been 20 years, but I remember being enchanted with her there as well. She gets some of the best lines and one of the most iconic moments in the series.  

Isobel Crawley - Downton Abbey

I was really not sure who I’d pick for Downton Abbey. I considered Mary, Sybil, and Daisy, all of whom are characters I enjoy reading and writing in fic and role play, but Isobel is the one who I really love most exactly as she appears on screen.  

Nita Callahan - Young Wizards

This is another fandom that has gone on without me - I read the first five books, but others have been released since I stopped reading. Nita Callahan was a very big deal for me in late elementary school, though, and I literally originated the Young Wizards category on fanfiction.net. It did not exist as its own category before I requested it, and to this day I believe the oldest fic in the category is one of mine.  

Stokely Mitchell - The Faculty

You may not even be aware that there was a fandom around The Faculty, but there was. The fandom mostly centred on Casey and Zeke, but if there was a third most popular character for fandom love, it was Stokely. Stokely is a badass and honestly, this is a great look for Clea DuVall.   

Carlye Breslin - M*A*S*H

If you’re a casual viewer of M*A*S*H, you may not remember Carlye because she only appears in one episode, but she casts a long shadow in fandom as the one that got away. I know Margaret is probably a better choice, and I do love her in her own way, especially once she separates from Frank. But “The More I See You” is one of my favorite episodes of M*A*S*H, and it’s great to have someone call Hawkeye out for being such a mess when it comes to relationships. Plus - how gorgeous is Blythe Danner in this role?

Sounds like the beginning of a joke, right?

It’s not, but it’s still funny, Darcy thinks as a rainbow rhinestone-bedazzled Tony Stark spins away from his teammates out onto the dance floor, hollering, “It’s Gay Halloween, bitches! Somebody jack my lantern.”

Certified silver fox, Steve Rogers, pauses on the edge of the dance floor, keeping an eye on Stark, assessing the room, probably for potential threats. His long hair is down for once, bouncing around his shoulders like a volumizing shampoo commercial, and there’s a bi flag stripe painted under his left eye. It’s June, but as a certified bi, he obviously hasn’t gone out without his leather jacket and rainbow Chucks to celebrate.

A sudden chill raced down her spine, making the glass walls on either side of her feel like they were closing in. She’d been paranoid about being traced from Raccoon back to here in the last few days…but to know she might have been observed long before she even thought to get on her bike and motor off in search of Chris? Even now, there was the distinct possibility that they were being monitored… the trees lining the parking lot now seemed to be housing a thousand eyes, watching her every move…every sound in the distance could be an Umbrella operative moving in to take her into custody…or worse…

Leon placed a hand on her wrist, drawing her eyes to him and snapping back to reality; she could see concern in his gaze, but also stout resolution. Some of her terror seemed to evaporate into the air, allowing her to draw in a steadying breath. She wasn’t alone in any of this; her fingers wrapped around his lightly, taking comfort in the warmth of his skin against her clammy palm.

Night 7 … in which The Avengers walk into a bar.

The Crow Bar.

Sounds like the beginning of a joke, right?

It’s not, but it’s still funny, Darcy thinks as a rainbow rhinestone-bedazzled Tony Stark spins away from his teammates out onto the dance floor, hollering, “It’s Gay Halloween, bitches! Somebody jack my lantern.”

Certified silver fox, Steve Rogers, pauses on the edge of the dance floor, keeping an eye on Stark, assessing the room, probably for potential threats. His long hair is down for once, bouncing around his shoulders like a volumizing shampoo commercial, and there’s a bi flag stripe painted under his left eye. It’s June, but as a certified bi, he obviously hasn’t gone out without his leather jacket and rainbow Chucks to celebrate.

So I might as well introduce the Marvel series I previously mentioned

   I’ve been working on it for quite a while now, though it hasn’t had any actual writing done for it yet. Its unnamed as of now, but its a Daredevil/MCU crossover that started off bein a series about Matt and Clint creating a friendship. Somehow this developed more into ‘the Avengers try to figure out vigilantes and their weird ass sub culture’ TM.

So lets start off with continuity and stuff because this is my perfect universe that conveniently ignores anything and everything I don’t like in canon :) 

Buckle your seat belts cause this is going to be a lot.

Daredevil:

Claire Temple never left Hells Kitchen and she and Matt never attempted a romantic relationship.

Frank Castle never got caught by the cops, and his trial never occurred. He and Matt are on good terms.

Nelson and Murdock never dissolved their firm. Matt and Foggy talked their shit out.

As of now Electra is non-existent. I might bring her in at some point but if I do its going to be extremely AU (but honestly what isn’t in this timeline?)

Season 3 never happened

The Defenders:

Stick never showed up. He is still alive and kicking!

Matt never got stuck under Midland Circle. He made it out along with everyone else since Electra has been nullified.

MCU Movies:

Age of Ultron who?

Civil War? Don’t know her.

Infinity War and Endgame? What’s that?

Agent Coulson is alive because fuck you Marvel. 

Bucky was found and rescued after the events of Winter Soldier. The whole thing with him killing Tony's parents was already known, and they have made amends. 

SHEILD was rebuilt, and is now trustworthy. Fury is not presumed dead anymore.

Comics:

Clint is based on a mix between the movies and the Hawkeye 2012 Fraction comic run.

He is deaf like in the comics because once again, fuck you Marvel.

He also has not met Kate yet, but perhaps she will make an appearance at some point…

Hawkeye 2012 plots like the Tracksuit Mafia will be mentioned, as well as some other details.

I'm also going to be snatching some characters from comics I haven't read, like Blindspot! Speaking of Blindspot...

Sam is already visually impaired by the time he comes in. His eyes were gouged out by the hand instead of Muse. His mother did in fact trade herself for his restored vision.

Various Other Fanfiction Inspirations:

   I'm taking a lot of inspiration for both characterization and plot ideas from other fanfics. I recommend you check out 'deniigiq' and 'ajay_lotte'. They are the biggest inspirations for the series and their works are amazingly written and hilarious!

‘One Man’s Trash is Literally Another Man’ The generic Hawkeye and Daredevil meet in a dumpster. I know this trope has been used a ton but I adore it and I’m not sorry.

‘Shooting Blind’ Clint attempts to teach Matt archery.

‘Why Look Before You Leap?’ Matt takes Clint out to parkour across Hell’s Kitchen.

‘Pot and Kettle’ Claire meets the elusive ‘Clint’ and briefly regrets her life decisions.

Unnamed Fic Matt and Clint exchange increasingly ridiculous gifts

‘Chasing Devilish Shadows’ The rest of the Avengers want to meet Daredevil but Matt isn’t too keen.

‘Accidental Child Acquisition’ Somehow Matt gains an apprentice in Peter Parker AKA Spiderman, and no, he doesn’t understand how either.

‘Vigilantes 101′ Sam is curious about vigilantes so Clint introduces him to some folks.

‘How One Becomes a Technically Illegal One Woman Hospital’ Name may change. How Claire Temple found herself as a vigilante nurse.

Unnamed Fic The Avengers have a betting pool on what Daredevil’s powers are.

Unnamed Fic Clint has to help Matt through a sensory overload.

Unnamed Fic  Matt Murdock gains another kid in Blindspot, and no, he still doesn’t understand how either.

Unnamed Fic Sam meets Spidey and Blindspot. They drag him around town.

Unnamed Fic Sam decides he wants to become a vigilante. His teachers are tough.

‘What Happens at Fight Club Stays at Fight Club’ The Avengers are hesitantly invited to witness the local vigilantes’ annual Fight Night. It’s an experience to say the least.

Unnamed Fic Clint babysits Blindspot and Spidey. Its harder than he expected.

Unnamed Fic Shameless rip off of one of Deniigiq’s iconic tennis ball idea. The Avengers are confused as to why Clint and Sam are obssesed over a gross, ratty, old tennis ball and are determined to figure it out.

My final current notes on this series are some headcanons for Peter and Miles Morales (Yes I plan to put him in too somewhere along with Kate Bishop). These are just some fun things I’ve picked up from A) other authors and the obscene amounts of fanfic I’ve read or B) My weird knowledge about spiders. Anyway, I made these little compare and contrast lists to keep track :)

Peter:

I’m a simple woman. I see a badass girl in full armor, I stan her immediately.

3. Claire Temple, Daredevil TV series

I loved Dawson’s performance in the NMCU and I really wished we’d gotten to see more of her.

4. Riza Hawkeye, Fullmetal Alchemist/Brotherhood

I mean what more can you say.

5. Milla Donovan, Daredevil Comics

I just love how she is a capable, charming, and sexy woman who knows what she wants and gets it (for awhile, anyway) without having to be a Strong Female Lead™️. If that makes sense?

6. Tzipporah, The Prince Of Egypt

Tiny me watching this in elementary school thought she was, like, the coolest person ever haha.

7. Katara, Avatar the Last Airbender

There’s a lot of awesome ladies to pick from in this show, but Katara has some incredible character development so she gets the spotlight.

8. Meg Murray, A Wrinkle In Time

Ok don’t hate me but I actually haven’t watched any of the film adaptations of this book. However, Meg was my favorite female character growing up so she deserved a mention.

9. Pike Trickfoot, Critical Role

A multifaceted healer? One who is a genuinely good person without being (pardon the pun) holier-than-thou? Sign me up. Love how Ashely played this character.

10. Counselor Deanna Troi, Star Trek: The Next Generation

Fashion icon. Hair for days. The voice of reason and all around amazing woman. That is all.
