why aren't there more mysteries that take place in nursing homes & retirement communities. i want to watch a group of deranged retirees-cum-amateur-detectives combine their powers of:
decades of life experience
boredom-fueled busybody shamelessness
access to the most gossipy next-door-neighbors in existence
"I am too old to be arrested and/or give a shit" attitude
and solve crimes. this should be an enormous subgenre.
#their sidekick/Watson/pet hacker is a 15 year old grandkid who hangs out with gram gram on the weekends#her only power is that she has above average search engine skills and flexible knees#which is completely sufficient to round out the group's skill set#they involve her in heist style operations#on the rare occasion she gets caught housebreaking she explains her grandma locked herself out of the condo and asked for help getting in#then this sweet slightly addled old lady shows up and explains she got the address mixed up#it's so confusing when you're old & all the houses look alike and oh she's so sorry to have caused so much trouble#and meanwhile the teenager is rolling her eyes bc she's aware gram gram was a career criminal & con artist for 50 years#anyway gimme a 80-year-old con artist turned amateur sleuth who loves getting older because people are less suspicious of little old ladies#this all takes place in florida naturally

how do you become so successful on tumblr with followers and likes and reblogs? i make so much blogs and the most followers i could get is max 10 ":( i feel like people here hate me even tho i don't speak to anyone and never send any aks to anyone not even nice ones :(
nooo angel! 😥💛 Lack of followers doesn’t equate to hate! Just as having lots of followers doesn’t equate to love.
As for gaining “success”/followers on tumblr, find a niche/community (cottagecore for example) and start making your own posts, tag them, preferably with some tags that show your personality a little, as well as the “cottagecore, nature, naturecore” etc (as is my case), and spread out your posts, don’t post your own all at once, that way more ppl can see it in the tag(s) you use, and reblog things you like. Make your blog a place you enjoy yourself and ppl will most likely do the same. It takes time. So don’t expect it to grow ‘huge’ overnight
- also, I’d be more than happy to share your blog so hopefully you’ll get some followers of it? Reblog your posts etc. just dm me 💛 I bet a lot of ppl will want to follow but if they don’t, it’s not the end of the world and it’s certainly not hate towards you. I can promise you that! 💝

I wonder how my great great great grandma who was born in 1907 and died before even my mom was born would feel to know that in 2024 there's a cat named after her. Like to know that her own great granddaughter who she only ever known as a little girl, would as a 65 year old woman, adopt a cat and think like...'she reminds me of my great grandmother who's been gone longer now than I ever knew her.'
#the way one generation turns into another always makes me think#it's less about the cat and more so that someone would remember you in such a way several decades after youre gone#my grandma talks about stories of her great grandmother#or her big maw as she calls her#and it's always from the perspective of a little girl looking up to a maternal figure#and it always jars me bcus that's how ive always looked at my grandma#the relationship i have with my grandmother she also once had with her grandmother and so on and so on#and then it makes me think even more to hear these stories about the grandmother my grandmother loved dearly#and I've never met her#to feel connected to a woman through your mother through her mother through her mother through hers and it's this line of mother to daughte#but you've never met her yourself#but someone you love once loved her#lover her enough to even as an old lady see a cat and be immediately reminded of how she was a lifetime ago#are we all just a string of short lived experiences and memories carried along down the passage of time

the new girl at one of my favorite bakeries called me pretty this morning and it literally melted all my stress away 🥺
#kai.rambles#i was feeling sad bc my grandma is in the hospital and when i went to visit her they wouldn’t let me pass bc my license is expired#which okay ik that’s my fault but i took my passport with me just in case and the guy straight up told me that it wasn’t a valid form of id#and im like yeah tf it is ITS A PASSPORT and he said no#and while i was waiting for my mom to come down to the lobby an old lady came in and he turned her away for the same thing#and dudeee okay you turn me away fine fuck off but an old ladyyy??? at that age they don’t pay attention to that just let her pass#and then he argued with another woman bc she brought a flower arrangement and it had water so he couldn’t allow it HELLOOO??!?#so i had to leave and went to go get breakfast for my mom at least bc she stayed the night and i was supposed to stay the day#and when i came back to give her the food she told me that the nurse that was with my grandma asked what happened bc she wasn’t expecting#my mom to return and when my mom told her she immediately got so angry bc that same guy#didn’t allow her and a couple other nurses to bring in a cake for one of the residents#who’s birthday is today and they had a full on argument this morning#so it was all in all awful and now my mom has been there for more than 20 hours until later tonight when my aunt goes over :(#anyway this turned into a whole rant im sorry but im so mad bc i know for a FACT that a passport is a valid form of id#and he was just being a fkn dick#but the girl called me pretty and it took some stress off and she really liked my blush#and i liked hers so we had a little makeup 101 exchange and it was so nice at least 🥺#and i have a couple cute asks to answer that have made my day as well so i’ll get to those in a few 🥰
