hey these are the cardassians, they’re part of a cruel and vicious empire which is supposed to be a representation of fascism and authoritarian regimes, they’re a cold, bloodthirsty people with no sense of empathy or compassion, their society literally references 1984 on multiple occasions, and they’re known for the insanely cruel and inhumane methods of torture they use against their prisoners of war. we hate the cardassians…….. except, here’s a cardassian kid who grew up on bajor, and……. fuck. he’s a person. now we actually have to consider his humanity. and being racist is actually……. bad.

this is the jem’hadar, they’re genetically engineered soldiers who have no sense of individuality and only live to defend the state. they’re all born addicted to a synthetic drug that’s manufactured by the state and administered by their masters—this is how they’re kept subservient. they’re ruthless and powerful and they’re incapable of being reasoned with because their only motivation is violence and killing. so we should kill them all, right? It's funny how everyone portrays Silver as always being polite towards Lilia all the time, but he can also be a little shit at time. Canonically, he often calls Lilia "old man" and is the most likely to call out his cooking. (He just does it in a low tone. But we all know Lilia hears.)

Once you put that ring on though you just feel a bliss of mindlessness like a year of programming ensnaring your mind at once.

You can still think but only the simplest of thoughts and your boundaries, and the occasional mantra. You remember several mantras but there's only ever one in your mind at one time depending on what you're doing.

Most of your mind and personality is either gone or suppressed, tho but you can remember a few things: You can stop at any time, the ring must come off when you next wake up. If you are uncomfortable your mind will come back until you feel safe and comfortable again, and you will take the ring off if boundaries are crossed, unless you can't in which case your programming is stored for your master to put onto another object and the ring no longer has any effect on you.
