Chapter 6: Once in a Lullaby

Fandom: Teen Wolf / The Wizard of Oz AU

Characters: Stiles + Lydia, Prada, Kira Yukimura

There's a land that I heard of, once in a lullaby - Over the Rainbow by Harold Arlen and E. Harburg

The Jeep is nearly perfect. It’s the same model as Stiles’s – a CJ5, possibly manufactured in the early 1980s. It has a robin egg blue exterior with black doors and a hard top. There’s dried mud on the rims and a few dents here and there. It looks used and abused, but most of all, loved. Lydia can tell by the way Noah glides his hand across the hood on his way to open the passenger door for her.

She climbs in, wave of nostalgia rising with the scent of aged leather and motor oil. It makes her pause, seeking other signs of familiarity. She finds them in the AM FM radio with the cracked tuning dial, the scuffed-up console, and the glove compartment hatch that’s being held shut with a piece of duct tape.

There is only one thing missing. A police scanner. Its absence makes her wonder about Noah’s dad. Maybe he never installed one in the Jeep. Maybe law enforcement officers have some other means of communication. Maybe he isn’t even the sheriff. Maybe...

“Is everything all right?” Noah asks.

“Yeah, just...taking it all in.” She thinks she must have tears in her eyes because his face has become blurry.

“You must be wondering what you got yourself into,” he says. “I know she looks rough, but I promise she’ll get us to Emerald City. I can fix pretty much anything that breaks down, and if all else fails...there’s always duct tape.”

She snickers, uncertain whether it’s a laugh or a sob tickling her throat. “Yeah, there’s always duct tape,” she echoes with a smile.

He makes sure she is comfortably situated with Prada on her lap, before closing the door and striding around to the driver’s side.

“So, I had this idea,” he begins, tossing his jacket on the back seat.

“Okay...”

“First, I need to know how adamantly opposed you are to theft.”

some of my headcanons below!

Steven: 24 years old; 190 cm / 6'3''

- Haunted by a hallucination of his dead brother that constantly reminds him of his misdeeds

- Fluctuates between a completely corrupted state (shadowed skin + red eyes) due to MissingNo.'s influence and a semi-conscious state (shadowed eyes) in which he sometimes gets lucid enough to question what happened that day

Glitchy RED: 26 years old; 182 cm / 6'0''

- Face always half hidden by shadows

- Despises people abusing glitches or bugs and thus despises Steven

- Always looks serious

Grey: 16 years old; 167 cm / 5'6''

- Constantly nervous

- Somewhat scared of (Glitchy) Red but also looks up to him since he's from "the original game"

Shinto:

- Mischievous

- Despises people cheating through any means, including glitches and bugs

- She found out that Grey is actually a real human's soul forced to possess the player character of their game and thus believes his "cheating" to be his human soul simply not adhering to game rules, allowing him to catch her by accident

- Has taken a liking to Grey and will (unbeknownst to him) protect him from people intending to cause harm

- Still scares him sometimes for fun

(Monochrome) Gold: 19 years old; 170 cm / 5'7'' (when alive)

- Is incapable of actually dying, constantly stuck in a state of pain

- Sometimes the Unown within him will take over his body for whatever reason, otherwise they will function like a hive mind allowing him to see through their eyes and float with their help

(- This was caused by Steven, corrupted by the glitch MissingNo. after Gold had found him in the Bellsprout Tower)

(Insomnia) Silver: 20 years old; 175 cm / 5'9''

- Skin covers his mouth keeping him from speaking

- He can cut/rip it open, but it will grow back in around a minute

(- This was caused by Steven, corrupted by the glitch MissingNo. after Silver confronted him seeing what he had done to Gold)

Mike: 4 years older than Steven, (28 years old); 180 cm / 5'11''

- A remorseful spirit incapable of moving on, bound to Steven after his death

- Contrary to the hallucination Steven is seeing, Mike can only be perceived by Gold

- Furthermore he is convinced that the person who killed him wasn't his brother / that something had forced him to do it

"Believe" and "Sketch" and now this one are like a Holy Trinity of Villain connected endings and this one FEELS like it belongs to MVA or something like that WAY MORE than the ED version of Believe did, even if the song was directly connected to Tomura and Izuku via text

that's just my "I want THIS SPECIFIC WAY" of wishing an ED was and I got what I wanted in a way with everyone from the LoV having their moment to shine (from the current arc aside from Compress) - so Spinner, Toga, Dabi and Tomura all have that. IN BOTH ED and OP

I'm so glad you've been enjoying them :D

I've really loved running around the map and seeing how things have changed from BOTW! It's been so cool to go !!! I remember this person, and to see what they're up to now. Like the couple you help get together at Lover's Pond?? They have a daughter now 😭 absolutely insane, I love it sm

I've also really enjoyed the boss fights (esp Colgera and Queen Gibdo) and TULIN and all the music and the way the main quest is just "Find Zelda" like yeah sure you should probably stop the living (ish) embodiment of all evil, but that's more of a side thing. The priority is finding Zelda and it's very sweet 🥺
