Please draw Sprout. Fullbody. It doesnt have to be rendered, just like- him! and it doesn't even have to be a good drawing, just doodle him and call it a day!

hello!! i love your art so much, your colors are beautiful and your characters are just so 👁️👁️ and i adore seeing them on my dash :)
i had a question about how you do the details on your fabrics: how do you keep the patterns on clothes on a body looking so,,, clean and readable while also making it make sense on the form under it?
like the cape/sleeve(? idk what it is but it looks cool as hell) on the magnolia commission pattern looks so cool and it's still readable on the fabric (like, if i wanted i could probably do a silly sketch of it) BUT ALSO it seems to make sense with the folds so it doesn't just look unnatural and stiff?
i'm so sorry this is kind of a long ask but like. would you be down to talk about your process for patterns on clothing? it's cool if you're not, that's totally fair, just figured i'd ask
have a wonderful day!!
OOOH Thank you so much for the ask!! I wanna do a more in depth tutorial, but I tend to make patterns in two different ways, with one being fully hand-drawn and the other playing with mesh transforms or the... Uh, liquify CSP tool? Let me find examples
Tumblr media
This is an example of a fully hand-drawn pattern. No trickery here- Only trying to eyeball everything. It's kinda a lot of work to draw it manually, but it's the more convenient option if the character I'm drawing doesn't have files for the patterns, or if the files are a bit too different from my usual style, as they could potentially not look great with my linearted or painted style
And then- For cases such as Nolia's cloak, I did the entire pattern as a separate file, then placed it using Photoshop's mesh transform!
Tumblr media
Here's a WIP file from when I placed all the patterns after finishing the lineart, where you can see them in full contrast. I tend to keep my patterns in different files- The black parts here are not joined with the base color of the cloth, so I can bring nice highlights and texturing when they're meant to be golden inlays, for example. Now, the Photoshop mesh transform is a bit finnicky to use, and I don't have any proper step by step of it- I could potentially record how I do it someday. But let's take the humble cylinder and demonstrate it quickly:
Tumblr media
So, the mesh warp tool is the one on the right- You can see these sort of blue lines creating a mesh. I'm sure CSP has it in it's pro level or something? Correct me if I'm wrong. You play around with the different sections, move it to the right place, and put it on the cylinder. This is a very simplified form. You can make many subsections to your meshes (that's 3x3- you can have stuff such as 20x20) for when you have multiple folds.
Tumblr media
And then you can just shade your pattern accordingly so it fits the volume of the drawing, and- ta-daa!
This is by no means an easy method. Sometimes you can get away with the Liquify tool (which CSP has and it's very decent), which I've used when the pattern in question was over a simpler surface with few folds. It takes some practise to use that well, and it isn't gonna be the best for complex ones, but it's also an option. Let me do a lil compilation of some patterns I've done and which tools I used for each!
Tumblr media
The tool I use highly depends on the time I have, the level of finish for the drawing, and so on. CSP's liquify is probably the fastest but gives simpler results, drawing them manually works better with some styles and more organic/less geometrical patterns, the mesh tool takes a bunch of time but it's great for small repeating patterns that are meant to be very precise or geometrical.
If people would be interested in it, I may someday do a video tutorial of me doing a pattern and then putting it over a folded cloth. I do hope this can help a bit tho!!

Does Orphelia have a specific act or any tricks she likes to perform?
Well Orphelia can do almost any form of entertainment you'd see in a circus. Being a College of Satire Bard, her specialties are acrobatics and Vicious Mockery.
Tumblr media
Her go to though in most social settings is singing while playing her cittern.
Her go to trick in the bedroom involves her tail, which is prehensile.

You are a Scammer, Hiding in Trying to Expose Other people business to gain Yours, Your account must go down❗
The funny thing is scammers will yell at me on anon but never defend themselves when I call them out for stealing someone’s fundraiser post. They always block me.
Also I run a mutual aid account where I boost other peoples fundraising. Why would I do that if I was a scammer?
I don’t gain money by busting scams unless someone decides to throw pocket change at me as appreciation of my work. You scammer anons act like I’m rich over here but I can assure you I barely get donations and that’s fine.

hi Blue! I am absolutely IN LOVE with the "Reports From Unknown Places" series. If you don't mind me asking, how did you learn to draw the clouds and the sky so well? I've always found the prospect very daunting, but you draw them in a way that simply amazing! Do you have any tips for brushes/practice?
Hello!
Thank you so much for the message, and your kind words! I'm so glad you enjoy Reports.
I completely understand how one might find drawing the sky daunting. I still regularly give myself headaches when working on reports. Everyone has their own issues when it comes to drawing, though.
For instance, this might sound a bit absurd, but one of my main issues as an illustrator is that I don't think well in 3D, and I ended up realising that I was unconsciously thinking about the sky as a flat image. When I started drawing clouds as objects moving in space, everything became a little easier.
Tumblr media
(This is the kind of epiphany that I had. Truly a revolution in my mind. Now I can totally rotate clouds in my brain.)
This all came about as I kept on drawing more and more, sure, but the most important part really was watching clouds for myself, as much as possible, and to try and notice things every time. It's mostly silly stuff, especially at first, like oh yeah, I guess clouds produce shadows on other clouds too. Wow! Or, huh, this cloud doesn't have the same density throughout, so the light scatters differently inside of it.
Because it's all fundamentally physics, it ended up sounding incredibly simple once I had noticed it. Of course! It's all logical! I had just never connected the dots before I saw it in person.
So I also bought some books, and watched videos (all those airplane videos are fantastic), read websites, looked at pictures. Everything was helpful in one way or another. Listen, I knew about cirrus and cumulonimbus and that was pretty much it, at first. So looking at diagrams about how high cirrus are in comparison to stratocumulus, for instance, was a revelation. Looking at the life cycle of cumulonimbus explained so much for me.
These are studies I did on the side of Reports, in November 2020, then April 2021, and the third one in September 2023:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think I'm able to look at these and tell that I got progressively more confident because I understood what I was drawing a lot better.
If I had to say, a few concrete things I learned that work for me is being bold, not to be afraid of contrast and sharp edges, and to treat light as an actor of its own. I can't find it right now, but I once read a quote by (I think!) Cezanne that went something like "I'm not painting the mountain, I'm painting the air between me and the mountain". I think it's the most helpful thing I've ever heard for painting and drawing. It's obviously especially relevant here. The air changes everything.
Anyway, I could go for ages more, I'm totally rambling, so I'll just leave a few references I find helpful:
The International Cloud Atlas
The Cloud Appreciation Society
What's This Cloud
In the end it's just fun, and good for the soul, to spend quality time with clouds, so nothing is ever lost!

After that rooftop scene I'm praying for Arkos endgame in prince of Vale
Nothing is set in stone. It might be Arkos, it might be Lancaster, it could be Winter knight, heck Knightfall is a possibility.
So who knows? I don't even know myself if it's going to be one of them. The one thing i know is that it's not a whiteknight story... Again, lol.

Well clearly booping has to be magical! Have you not seen it? The way those cats just suddenly JUMP at people and touch them with their claws?! And then the zombiefied cats too! No, of course this is madness, this HAS to be sorcery! There is but one legal action Uther could, no SHOULD take it that case! He will sentence you to death O.o

Where did Marrow Eater and her Boyfriend go during their absence? Did anything interesting happen to them?
Tumblr media
Clearly NOTHING happened.
Marrow Eater and Silas aren't romantically involved. She is in love with him but it is the kind of love that only a NE cannibal can feel. She is obsessed with Silas the Hero and wants nothing more than to help put him into situations where he gets to use his powers as a Blade Singer Wizard. Which seemingly suits him fine because he is also a bad person but unlike Marrow Eater who is unabashedly who she is, he uses the guise of justice and heroism to justify being a murder hobo.
Ultimately Marrow Eater is ramping up to the point where her affections for him is at a fever pitch and her desire to eat him will take over. She'll either eat him or die trying. It is complicated being a feral cannibal in love.
