I think John would definitely be an Oriental cat if not that then probably a Burmese. Smart, quick on his feet and pretty loyal seems about right.

Lieutenant Simon “Ghost” Riley

I think Simon would be a Norwegian forest cat or a British Short hair.. for obvious reasons dude is a fuckin Brit through and through. I chose NFC becuase they are bigger types of cats and used to harsh climates

Sergeant Kyle “Gaz” Garrick

For Gaz I chose an Abyssinian cat, they are pretty, usually have pretty eyes (like him) and are pretty smart and playful. Very Gaz coded

Johnny boy would be a Scottish Fold or a Siamese cat. They are very vocal, love people and are just a joy to be around honestly. Plus they suffer from pretty boy syndrome so… yeah

Gary my baby boy, I chose an OciCat cause of his name it’s so random? I thought him being a more exotic and weird cat would fit his aesthetic. Very pretty cats too!

Rudy! Another cowboy we love what a gentleman <3 I’m giving him an Egyptian Mau kitty, it has spots and I think Rudy would be a spotted kitty. Very good boy

Mommy issues fr love this women. I support women rights AND wrongs 💪 she gets a Donskoy or a Savannah cat. Both wild kitties to match her wild and unpredictable personality I think it fits very well

Anxious King gotta love them! For obvious reasons he’s a Maine Coon cat, the biggest house cat there is. For being an absolute UNIT of a man he deserves a very loyal, pretty, and big kitty. God I just wanna smother this man

Part 3 ~ The Movies of “Here’s Lucy”

In “Here’s Lucy,” Lucille Ball had a new character, a new family, and a new show - but one thing remained constant, her love of movies!  Here are some of the movies (real and imagined) of “Here’s Lucy.”

“Lucy and Carol Burnett” aka “The Unemployment Follies” (1971)

Carol and Lucy stage a tribute to Hollywood using unemployed actors. The films mentioned and/or feted include:

“Ginger Rogers Comes To Tea” (1971)

Ginger Rogers leaves her purse in a movie theatre where she's gone incognito to see one of her films for the first time. Lucy and Harry discover the purse and hope to get to meet the star in person by inviting her to tea. Instead of working late, Lucy tells Harry that she wants to go to a Ginger Rogers Film Festival. They are showing Tender Comrade (1943) and Flying Down To Rio (1933), two films made at RKO, which eventually became Desilu.  

Rogers tells Lucy she has done 73 movies. Rattling off some of Rogers' hits, Lucy adds a sugar cube to Ginger's tea for each title: Top Hat, Roberta, Flying Down To Rio, Follow the Fleet, Shall We Dance, and The Barkleys of Broadway.  When Lucy realizes she's put six lumps of sugar in Ginger's tea, Rogers says she only wanted Top Hat and Roberta (two lumps).  

Trying to impugn the taste in films of the mystery woman (a disguised Ginger Rogers), Lucy tells her to try back next week and they might be showing Beach Blanket Bingo (1965). This was the fourth of the light comic films set on the California beach starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello.  

After dancing the Charleston with Lucy and Kim, Lucy asks Rogers to do a scene from Kitty Foyle, Ginger’s Oscar-winning role. Rogers graciously declines, asking Lucy to become a Katherine Hepburn fan instead!  

“Guess Who Owes Lucy $23.50?” (1968)

Lucy loans Van Johnson money to fix his car – but the man turns out to be an impostor. This episode is written for Van Johnson to work in a not-so-subtle plug for their latest film Yours, Mine and Ours (1968) starring Henry Fonda.

VAN IMPOSTER:“I loved working with that kooky redhead.” LUCY: “Personally, I thought she was much too young for Henry Fonda.”  

Lucy says she remembers Johnson from his appearance in The Romance of Rosy Ridge (1947).  She later tells him she saw the film 17 times!  When Lucy is escorted out by the studio guards at Van’s direction, Lucy says that now she’s glad he got court martialed in The Caine Mutiny (1954).

“Lucy and Aladdin’s Lamp” (1971) 

When Lucy holds a garage sale, she discovers an old lamp that she believes may be make wishes come true. Lucy pulls out a fur-lined jacket she says was worn by Joan Crawford in Mildred Pierce.  The 1945 film won Crawford an Academy Award. Craig says that judging by the shoulder pads she could have worn it in The Spirit of Notre Dame, a 1931 football-themed movie starring Lew Ayres.  

“Lucy and Flip Go Legit” (1971)

Lucy takes a temp assignment with Flip Wilson in order to answer his fan mail. When she is caught sneaking into Wilson’s office to ask him a favor, she gets caught and fired.  The favor is to appear  in a community theatre production of Gone With The Wind (1939) – as Prissy. Lucy plays Scarlett O’Hara, Harry plays Rhett Butler, and Kim takes the role of Melanie Wilkes. 

“Won’t You Calm Down Dan Dailey?” (1971)

Lucy gets a job working for Dan Dailey. When he starts to dictate a letter to Paul Newman at Universal Studios, Lucy says she saw Newman on the late show in Winning, a 1969 film about a race car driver.

“Lucy and Rudy Vallée” (1970)

Famous crooner Rudy Vallée is waiting tables to pass the time until his music comes back into style. Lucy convinces Kim to help update his look and sound while Harry gets him a booking at the local teen hangout. When a life-size portrait of Vallée in a raccoon coat is revealed, Vallée says he wore the coat in his first picture, Varsity Hero, a silent picture where critics raved about his singing!    

In reality, Vallée’s first film (aside from two shorts playing himself) was The Vagabond Lover in 1929.

“Lucy and Chuck Connors Have a Surprise Slumber Party” (1974) 

Harry rents out Lucy’s home for a movie shoot. After causing several re-takes, Lucy is banished from her own home. When she returns early, she doesn’t know that Chuck Connors is staying overnight – in her bed!  

Jerry, the film’s director, tells Chuck that his film Good Morning, Miss Dove starring Jennifer Jones is on television that night. Connors says the film was one of the few times he got to nuzzle something besides a horse. Released in 1955 by 20th Century Fox, the film co-stars Mary Wickes, a frequent guest star on all of Lucille Ball’s sitcoms. It also features Jerry Paris, who directed two episodes of “Here’s Lucy” before being fired, and Robert Stack of Desilu’s “The Untouchables.” Other “Lucy” alumni in the film include Herb Vigran, Hal Taggart, and Arthur Tovey – all appearing uncredited.

“Lucy Meets the Burtons” (1972)

The hotel manager tells Burton that the back door is mobbed by the Elizabeth Taylor Fan Club – Glendale Chapter. Membership to the club requires seeing National Velvet 10 times!  National Velvet (1945) was made when Taylor was just twelve years old.  

“Lucy’s House Guest, Harry” (1971)

As Harry is finally is finally about to leave, Lucy has a horrible thought: what if he is like Sheridan Whiteside in The Man Who Came to Dinner and falls on his way out and must stay with them even longer?  The play, by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, opened on Broadway in 1939. It starred Lucille Ball's good friend (and “Here's Lucy” performer) Mary Wickes as Nurse Preen. Wickes was one of several actors who recreated their roles in the 1942 film adaptation.

~FICTIONAL FILMS~ 

“Lucy, the American Mother” (1970)

Craig makes a film about Lucy, a typical American mother. During the episode, Kim does impressions of Katharine Hepburn in Stage Door (1937), a film that also featured Lucille Ball, Maurice Chevalier in Innocents of Paris (1929), and Bette Davis in The Great Lie (1941).  

The title of Craig's movie will be “A Day in the Life of My Mother.”  When Lucy can't seem to act natural in front of Craig's camera, she suggests he get someone else to play his mother; someone like Raquel Welch, Carol Burnett, or Don Knotts.

~FILM INSPIRATIONS~ 

“My Fair Buzzi” (1972)

Kim’s shy and awkward friend Annie (Ruth Buzzi) comes out of her shell in order to audition for a 1920s revue, only to find the director was looking for someone shy and awkward in the first place! The episode title and story of transformation were inspired by the 1956 Broadway musical and 1964 film My Fair Lady, which, in turn, was inspired by George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion. Both are mentioned in the dialogue of the episode.

“Dirty Gertie” (1972)

Lucy gets a surprise fruit basket and heads downtown to share her good fortune with her hairdresser. On the street she is mistaken for Dirty Gertie, an apple peddler who just happens to be the good luck charm of a local gangster. This episode was inspired by the 1961 Frank Capra film Pocketful of Miracles in which Bette Davis played Apple Annie, a poor woman reduced to selling apples on the street. The film featured previous “Lucy” co-stars Edward Everett Horton, Jay Novello, Ann-Margret (film debut), Sheldon Leonard, Jerome Cowan, Fritz Feld, Ellen Corby, Benny Rubin, Hayden Rorke, Bess Flowers, Vito Scotti, Bert Stevens, Arthur Tovey, and Romo Vincent.

“Lucy Runs the Rapids” (1969)

The Carters take a road trip in a camper. The episode opens with the soundtrack playing “Breezin’ Along”, the theme song from The Long, Long Trailer (1954), a film starring Lucy and Desi as a couple honeymooning in a trailer. 

~FILM FAKES~

“Lucy Cuts Vincent’s Price” (1970)

Price is filming a new horror film titled Who’s Afraid of Virginia’s Wolfman? He says it has the best title since he starred in The Giant Chihuahua That Ate Chicago.

~FILM REFERENCES~

“Lucy, the Cement Worker” (1969)

In Pierre’s the knife thrower’s studio, there is a handbill on the bulletin board for ‘Cherokee Jim’s Rodeo and Wild West Show’, which is a direct reference to the 1945 film Incendiary Blonde starring Betty Hutton as Texas Guinan. The film was directed by George Marshall for Paramount, the same director and studio producing this episode of “Here’s Lucy” 25 years later!

When Harry sees baby chimps Fido and Rover, he reminds Lucy and Kim that King Kong started out as a baby, too!  King Kong, Hollywood’s tale of a giant ape, was first filmed in 1933, then re-made in 1976 and 2005. Fay Wray, one of the stars of the original film, also made The Bowery that same year, one of Lucille Ball’s first films. 

“Lucy and the Ex-Con” (1969)

Lucy and Rocky (Wally Cox) go undercover as little old ladies to catch a crook.   When Lucy and Rocky pass out (as planned) one of the crooks says to the bartender “Give me a hand with arsenic and old face.”  Arsenic and Old Lace is a 1944 film where two elderly spinsters serve lethal glasses of elderberry wine to unsuspecting older gentlemen and bury them in their basement!  

“Lucy and The Generation Gap” (1969)

Lucy and Uncle Harry help Kim and Craig stage the school musical. In the first act of the musical set in ancient Rome, Lucille Ball is reading a magazine called 'Roman Scandals’. Roman Scandals is also the title of Lucille Ball’s uncredited film debut in 1933.     

“Lucy and Shelley Winters” (1968)

Hired to watch over dieting movie star Shelley Summers. On the mantle of Summers' apartment is a photo of a svelte Shelley Winters from the 1950 film Frenchie. She glances guiltily at the photo when she is about to overeat. 

“Lucy Carter Meets Lucille Ball” (1974)

Although Lucille Ball's dressing room wall is lined with photographs of Mame and the soundtrack plays the title tune by Jerry Herman, the name of the movie is never specifically mentioned. The film was given its world premiere on March 7, 1974 three days after this episode first aired, and released nationally three weeks later. As Mame, Lucy failed to ‘charm the husk off of the corn.’

That was it, after two wonderful weeks, it was time to go back to San Myshuno; say farewell to the low-poly seagulls and hello to the low-poly pigeons. There they were, waiting before their flight, Rudi, Dawud and Daniele were starting to get bored, so they just...looked at each other’s passport.

Daniele: Wait, why do you have an American passport? I thought you were born in Costa Rica and grew up in Germany. You’ve moved to the US like...less than six months ago. Rudi: My mom is Costa Rica and I was born there, and I did move to Germany cause my dad was German. After he died, my mom wanted to go back home, but she got in an online relationship with a Puerto Rican dude, who is now my step-father, so we moved to Puerto Rico. And since Puerto Rican have US passport well here I am. Daniele: Fascinating, thanks for the explanation. Rudi: Costa Rican and Puerto Rican. Call that the double rican...God I wish I was actually rich. Dawud: I don’t get it? Daniele: In Spanish, Costa Rica means rich coast and Puerto Rico means rich port. I don’t speak Spanish but you know my first language is Italian and in Italian both rich coast is costa ricca and rich port is porto ricco so I kinda...deduced. Dawud: I now feel incredibly stupid for never realizing. Rudi: You deadass grew up in Arizona and cannot speak not even un poquito de Español?  Dawud: I mean, I could have picked Spanish in high school like a normal person, but my biggest bullies were all in that class so instead I picked German like a fucking nerd.  Rudi: Oh really, you speak German? Say something, I totally won’t roast you for your pronunciation. Dawud: Uh...Ich mag trinkt Pferdeblud. Rudi: Not only is this sentence barely coherent and not grammatically correct but WHY is this the sentence you chose to say? You actually pronounced it perfectly though. Dawud: I said this one cause it’s the only one I know. Rudi: Ok so WHY is this the only one you know??

While these two were...peacefully arguing about the validity of Dawud’s German, Daniele tried quickly to look at Rudi’s passort. As soon as they saw him do that, they took it away from him.

Daniele: Lu-na M-M-M-Mo- Rudi: BITCH! Daniele: What, I just wanted to see if your first name is actually Rudder! Rudi: Yes, my full name is Rudder, that’s my old name that’s written here. I haven’t changed my name legally yet cause I’ve only realized I’m nonbinary like...barely a year ago. Daniele: YOU’RE A WEREWOLF AND YOUR PARENTS LEGIT DECIDED TO NAME YOU LUNA??? Rudi: You think that’s bad, my mom is fucking named Guadalupe. Dawud: Also why do you read so slowly Dan? Daniele: Can’t I be dyslexic in peace?

Kino looked at these three, in awe on how their age gap can be barely three years and yet, they felt so much more mature than these overgrown teenagers. That’s when they got a text from Toni asking if they were still on the island. Kino answered with a yes, so Toni asked them to go outside the airport.

Kino: Oh, hi Toni. Already missing me? But you know, I’ll likely be back next summer. Toni: Kim I love you.

Oh...Oh my. Kino had often confess these words to someone, but they had never been on the receiving end before. Toni took their hand, and they kissed, right before it was announced boarding had began for their flight.

Hopefully then, it won’t take a year before they see each other again.

i have a fic idea where Harry and Kim are able to look into each other's minds after the whole Rudy radio torture invention thing. Sorry, I'm not writing it because I don't have the energy. Anyone can feel free to 'steal' the idea tho.

At first, the detectives don't realise it, since it takes a sustained mental effort to use the mind-reading link. Or sufficient head trauma.

After the shoot-out, Kim does hear Harry's lizard and limbic voices from time to time, while Harry is in his coma. Kim chalks it up to concussion-related 'hallucinations' and 'wishful thinking'.

When Harry wakes up, Kim hears more of Harry's voices and gets a serious headache. Kim falls asleep for a few hours and wakes up, and the headache is gone; he also doesn't hear them anymore. Until Harry tries to read Kim's mind and can hear Kim's inner thoughts, with Esprit De Corps and Empathy going, '"Ayo, that wasn't me talking. What's up with that?"

Dean Stockwell, Reluctant Child Star By Raquel Stecher

Born in Hollywood to a show business family, it seemed like Dean Stockwell was destined to become a movie star, but Stockwell stumbled into the industry simply by chance. In 1942, his mother Elizabeth “Betty” Stockwell, a vaudeville performer, and his father Harry, a stage singer best known for being the voice of the Prince in SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS (’37), heard of a casting call for children. Dean and his older brother Guy auditioned for roles in a stage performance of The Innocent Voyage. Though only landing a small part with just two lines, it was all that was needed to catch the eye of an MGM talent scout. Before he knew it, the nine-year-old Stockwell had a seven-year contract with the studio. He was exactly what they were looking for. With his mop of curly hair and prominent pout, he gave off just the right combination of innocence and petulance that would make him a perfect fit to play orphans and spoiled rich kids in a variety of MGM productions.

Dean Stockwell was off to a roaring start with plum roles in big productions like ANCHOR’S AWEIGH (’45), THE GREEN YEARS (’46), GENTLEMAN’S AGREEMENT (’47) and SONG OF THE THIN MAN (’47). He held his own with big stars like Gregory Peck, Gene Kelly, William Powell, Myrna Loy, Greer Garson, Robert Ryan and Lionel Barrymore and other child stars Peggy Ann Garner, Darryl Hickman and Margaret O’Brien.

He was an incredible asset to MGM. Stockwell could be counted on to cry in front of the camera, sometimes coaxed by a director who encouraged him to imagine a dying pet. Even with that, Stockwell developed a reputation as an intelligent and sensitive young boy who needed little rehearsal and minimal direction. They called him “One-Take Stockwell.” In interviews years later, he recalled “I had photographic memory when I was a kid. I still can memorize lines very easily.” Stockwell was a natural and the parts just kept coming. When he wasn’t working for MGM on films, his home studio would loan him out to RKO, 20th Century-Fox and Universal.

But Being a child actor took a toll on Stockwell. The studio system could be cruel to child stars and Stockwell often bore the brunt of it. In an interview Stockwell said, “[as a] child star… I didn't have much privacy and I was working all the time. I couldn't be where I wanted to be; I couldn't play; so I needed to find anonymity, to just disappear.” He often worked 10-hour days six days a week, which included 3 hours of learning in the Little Red Schoolhouse on the MGM lot. He had to keep going for two reasons: 1.) his ironclad contract with MGM and 2.) a family to support, now that Betty was raising Dean and his brother as a single mom. Stockwell desperately wanted to be an average kid. He loved playing sports, dreamed of going to public school and loved spending time with his dogs, Thug and Thief. On the set of STARS IN MY CROWN (’50), he even declared to producer William Wright “I wish you’d fire me, so I wouldn’t have to work!”

During his seven-year contract with MGM, he made nearly 20 films for his home studio and others while on loan out. For the most part, Stockwell was miserable working as a child actor but there were two productions that he particularly loved. One was the anti-war drama THE BOY WITH THE GREEN HAIR (‘48) produced by RKO. In it, he plays a war orphan whose hair suddenly turns green, making him stand out from the locals. Stockwell identified with his character’s desire to fit in and the film’s pacifist message. When Howard Hughes tried to get him to deliver a pro-war statement, Stockwell stood up to the studio tycoon and refused. A few years later, he starred alongside Errol Flynn in KIM (’51), an adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic story. Flynn became a father figure of sorts to young Stockwell and the two got on like a house on fire.

As Dean got older, he entered into what he called the “awkward age.” He later said, “[MGM] couldn't see how they were going to cast me now that I was turning 17. So they let me out of it and I just took off.” Dean finished high school, attended UC Berkeley and dropped out before finishing his first year. He didn’t know what he wanted but he did know he no longer wanted to be Dean Stockwell the child star. He donned a new identity, Rudy Stocker, and lived in anonymity as a day laborer. He made his way back to acting after a few years. Had it not been for his escape from Hollywood, a time period Stockwell referred to as “an education in living”, as well as the support of his mother, he might have gone down the wrong path as other child actors have done. Instead Dean Stockwell made an excellent comeback in the Leopold and Lobb inspired murder drama COMPULSION (’59). Reflecting on his past, Stockwell said “I have to know if people want me – for myself.” He would make several comebacks throughout his acting career and he learned an important lesson from his days as a child actor: be true to yourself.

it's just genuinely funny. and i love the friendships, and i love rudy, and i love kim and jacks relationship, and i wish we got more eddie because he just rounded everything out, and jerry and milton work so well as characters, and just the whole show is so <3333

kickin it is one of, if not the, best disney channel show, but i feel like not as many people see how good it is, or maybe i just haven't joined the fandom

What's your fav scene from kickin it?

ooof it’s really hard to pin down just one moment. it’s been a while since i watched the whole series, too, so here’s just a few moments i really loved, in no particular order.

jack versus carson - the entirety of ‘new jack city’ was amazing, and booboo stewart is awesome in everything i’ve seen him in and this was no exception. also jack in the black dragons gi was everything for 12 y/o me who loved anti-heroes. i was just rooting for him so hard in that episode.

the first episode!!! - the first episode did such a good job of establishing characters and setting. from the cafeteria fight to jack bursting through the wall and the final tournament and kim joining the wasabi warriors, it was just such a good first episode.

jack showing up at the cotillion - ok so billy unger was in ‘the wrath of swan’ and it was personally wild. and the gravy canon and the entire fight scene with brody siding with them and not actually being a bad dude was so good! and then kick crowned each other and had like a one second dance and it was really cute.

jack and kim’s letters - ‘hit the road jack’ was like the first confirmation we got of jack and kim’s feelings. they’d always had some flirtation, but that moment was so telling, because we got to see that there’s something deeper there, and they’re not ready to come out with it but they’re definitely aware of it. i always wished they would bring the letters back. 

kim making jack bracelets - both in ‘slip down memory lane’ (i screamed when the ep premiered and he pulled it out and put it on) and ‘two dates and a funeral’. i like to headcanon that’s something she does a lot and he keeps and wears all of them.

actually all of ‘two dates and a funeral’ - got my canon!!! and just…the lengths they went to just to hide the fact that they were dating was so funny. i like to think at some point milton and jerry caught on and only kept going if only to see how far they’d take it. and jack saying it was “worth it” and then them walking off holding hands and him playfully kicking her was everything.

also all of ‘karate games’ - i was a hunger games fan for a while, and this was hilarious. also, jack saying “i won’t let anything happen to you” had me on the floor. and the almost kiss at the end for real i think almost killed me.

the fight scene at the end of ‘indiana eddie’ - i love how they all had their reservations and just came together for eddie’s sake that entire episode. this was a really fun fight scene and even though the treasure they got out of it was small, they were so enthusiastic about the adventure they had. i love these kids.

milton being attacked as lincoln during the play - from ‘all the president’s friends.’ okay the set-up for all of this was hilarious and then later when they’re all just chilling half-costumed like truly what a disaster squad

rudy adopting sam - this plot made me so happy!!! i really wish sam was in a lot more episodes.

any scene where the gay really jumped out of milton -  ok just hear me out. in ‘the ‘stang’ he deadass says “i don’t date girls anymore” followed by awkward silence and i know he follows it with “i mean i date women” but there’s a really awkward pause where he’s reevaluating and jerry is practically his date that entire episode not to mention when he grabbed on to jerry’s shirtless body and they went down in ‘fawlty temple’ and like….where is my jerry/milton endgame i fucking deserved it. 

every scene where the squad comes together to defend each other or their dojo - i was a sucker for these kids and the family they had with each other. like in ‘kickin’ it on our own.’ i just live for genuine sweet moments where they realize they need each other and they’re there for each other.

that’s off the top of my head, but if i were to rewatch, i can probably come up with a lot more. it was…a really good show.

Watch Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, and more get inducted into Basketball Hall of Fame

From Kobe to KG to Tim Duncan to Tamika Catchings, the Basketball Hall of Fame was filled with so many great moments.

The Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame enshrined a nine-person class on Saturday night, headlined by the late Kobe Bryant. Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, Tamika Catchings, Kim Mulkey, Barbara Stevens, Eddie Sutton, Rudy Tomjanovich, and Patrick Baumann were also inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Bryant was presented by Michael Jordan, but the Chicago Bulls legend did not speak at the ceremony. Instead, Jordan walked Bryant’s widow Vanessa Bryant to the podium as she delivered an emotional tribute to her husband. “I don’t have a speech prepared by my husband because he winged every single speech,” she said.

“I used to always avoid praising my husband to public, because I felt like he got enough praise from his fans around the world and someone had to bring him back to reality,” Bryant said. “Right now, I’m sure he’s laughing in heaven, because I’m about to praise him in public for his accomplishments on one of the most public stages.

“I can see him now, arms folded, with a huge grin saying, ‘Isn’t this some shit.’”

I wish my husband was here to accept this incredible award. He and Gigi deserve to be here to witness this. Gigi would be so proud to watch her daddy get enshrined into the basketball Hall of Fame. I know he was really looking forward to being here. He asked the Hall of Fame to specifically add a sixth ticket for Capri. He was so happy.

Kobe was one of a kind. He was special. He was humble, off the court, but bigger than life.

Kobe played through injury after injury. To name a few, he had IVs administered during halftimes to play with food poisoning and the flu. He played with a broken nose. He had a broken finger and had it snap back in place, just enough to finish the game. He also taught himself how to use his left hand to play the rest of the season while his finger healed. He even switched to free throws, with a torn Achilles and walked off the court, on his own.

I’ll never forget the look he gave me as he walked off the court that game. I knew it was bad. The crowd was cheering, and I was reassuring Natalia and Giana that daddy would be OK, just like any other injury.

Thank you for never missing a birthday, a dance recital, a school award show, show and tell, or any games our daughters played and your schedule permitted. Thank you for putting your love for our family first. Thank you for bringing so much joy to our lives, and joy to the people around the world. Thank you for inspiring us to be better than we were the day before. Thank you for teaching me and all of us to put someone else’s joy before our own. Thank you for being so selfless and loving with a heart of gold. Thank you for never taking yourself too seriously. Thank you for your sense of humor. Thank you for your wit.

Thank you for never telling me no, and always letting me have my way, most of the time. Thank you for being patient and easy-going. Thank you for letting me burst your bubble every chance I got. Thank you for graciously taking all my harsh comebacks. Thank you for dishing them back.

Tim Duncan’s Hall of Fame speech thanked Gregg Popovich and more

Duncan is a five-time NBA champion and two-time MVP who helped turn the San Antonio Spurs into one of the league’s most consistent winners.

Duncan talked about how he aspired to compete in the Olympics as a swimmer until an category five hurricane rocked his native Virgin Islands. Duncan instead picked up basketball as a 14-year-old and impressed the Wake Forest staff during a pickup game.

“I have no idea how I played, but I played well enough that he offered me a scholarship,” Duncan said. “He saw something in me, and he took a chance on this kid from the [U.S. Virgin] Islands. Thank you, Coach O, thank you for seeing something in me that I didn’t see at the time.”

Duncan also joked that Gregg Popovich, his legendary coach with the Spurs, would be upset if he was thanked at all during the speech. Duncan did it anyway.

“You showed up after I got drafted, you came to my island, you sat with my friends, my family, you talked with my dad,” Duncan said of Popovich. “I thought that was normal. It’s not. You’re an exceptional person.

“Thank you for teaching me about basketball but, beyond that, teaching me that it’s not all about basketball. It’s about what’s going on in the world, your family ... just, for everything. Thank you for being the amazing human being that you are.”

Kevin Garnett’s Hall of Fame speech thanked those who came before him

Kevin Garnett was the first member of the Hall of Fame class to be inducted. Garnett said he requested to go first because “I wanted Bill Russell to hear my speech before y’all fell asleep.”

Garnett thanked Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan for inspiring him as a young player in South Carolina. He thanked Isiah Thomas for helping convince him to enter the 1995 NBA Draft out of high school as one of the first major prep-to-pro players of his era.

Garnett also thanked Duncan, who he competed against throughout his career.

“It was nothing but epic when we battled,” Garnett said of Duncan. “I look forward to all the battles. Seriously. And I thank you for taking me to another level, you and Rasheed Wallace.”

Garnett did not thank Ray Allen, who famously left the Celtics for the Miami Heat during Garnett’s days with the team. He also didn’t thank Glen Taylor, the former Minnesota Timberwolves owner who he has criticized over his career. You can watch our “Beef History” episode on KG and Taylor here:

Tamika Catchings’ Hall of Fame speech thanked the people who inspired her career

Catchings is one of the most accomplished players of her generation as a four-time Olympic gold medalist, a 12-time All-WNBA selection, a WNBA MVP, and WNBA champion.

Catchings thanked Alonzo Mourning and Dawn Staley for helping inspire her career.

Daniele couldn’t tell if he was disappointed, angry or sad, probably all of the above to some degree. Being in this bar was now unbearable, he had to leave now, especially since Ralf was continuing to humiliate himself at the karaoke. Once he had put his clothes back on, Daniele dragged his drunk ass out of there. Now they had to find a bus stop, none of them had a car, they came by foot originally, but it had gotten very cold since they arrived, and they weren’t dress for that sort of weather. It was still late February after all, even if the temperature had been abnormally hot lately. 

Daniele: If you want to sleep at my place tonight, you can. Rudi is having a party with their new bandmates and they already told us they’re not coming home until tomorrow afternoon, Kim is sleeping at their girlfriend’s house, and Charlie is...doing vampire stuff. The only one left are me and Akva, Dawud is still sleeping at a hotel he’s only moving in on the 1st of March. Anyway, you’ll have plenty of place. Ralf: Thanks, I’ll admit, I didn’t want to go back all alone in an hotel room too.

At least, the fresh air helped Ralf sober up a little.

Ralf: It was a suicide. Daniele: What? You...You can’t say this like that dude, I have no idea what you’re talking about. Ralf: My son, Zeev. It was a suicide. Daniele: Ho-Holy shit. Ralf I-I’m sorry I didn’t know. I meant it as a joke when I said he’s dead. Ralf: It’s fine, it’s been almost a decade. It still hurts, but it’s true that time heals all wound to a degree. Daniele: If I knew I wouldn’t have said that, I swear. Ralf: It’s fine I said, you had no way to know. It’s just...It’s awful, I spent my entire life wishing to have a family and someone who would never abandon me, and when I found out this girl I was seeing was pregnant I thought I had found it. I had a baby and he was my entire world and then 15 years or so later it all fell apart. Worst part is, I often feel like it’s my fault. At least I still have my two other kids... 

Daniele just gave him a hug. Now he felt terrible for ever bringing it up. As for Ralf, he stood there, thinking about a happier, simpler time. A time long ago, several years before such a horrible tragedy hit the Montag. What wouldn’t he do to see his oldest son again, or go back to when he was a baby in hope of doing thing differently this time around.

So my bestie and I are known among our friends to fuck up the realm of canon for anything. Star Wars, descendants, my hero academia, you name it we’re like “it’s free real estate”

We recently set our little gremlin hands on Kickin It. We have the original wasabi Warriors children, and even put Rudy, Ty and Falafel Phil in a fucking polycule Bc we’re savages. (And lowkey it was a crack ship that grew on us)

For Jack and Kim, we gave them an adopted kid, River. They’re Vietnamese, and do all kinds of martial arts forms. They also enjoy gardening and have a hobby farm. Later on they adopt an older teen named Dex, who was originally a villain, but only Bc he had no where to go and needed the money. Being a villain paid well.

Milton and Jerry adopted an angry Scottish girl named Brooke. She is River’s rival, like they see each other and it’s on sight. They are also besties. She also does karate

Eddie married a super model and has a daughter named Rosalie. She does not like fighting, but takes notes on everyone’s forms and critiques them.

Rudy has Sam, from the show and a set of twins from a one night stand. The twins are very rebellious.

As far as us fucking up canon, yes we set it in the DC comics universe. The Dragon’s eye is actually a part of a set. There is also the Dragon’s Tail, talon and heart. Each one gives the user a power and enhances the skill. (Ie the eye grants a wish, like in the show, and enhances the users wisdom) Talia Al Ghūl and other villains obviously want this set.

We even made Jack a vigilante, like he was vigilante kid during the events of the show and joins the JL. He became the Jade Warrior, a title from the Jade Warrior clan. Which Jack is a descendant from. Yes we added two more clans bedside the Wasabi Warriors and the Black Dragons lol. They’re the Jade Warriors and the Shizi Clan. They each protected a piece of the Dragon Puzzle. A member of each clan bestowed a piece onto River, Rosalie, Brooke and Dex. With that they each become heroes, and train under Jack.

That’s really all we have tbh XD the rest of us talking about this was just wacky scenarios they would get into.

My bestie and I have been rewatching Kickin It, you know, the old karate show from Disney. And not did we create sequel characters for the show, we gave it an intricate, in depth plot, like 20x more than what it had and even added DC comics characters. Tbh? We’re monsters

  The 18-time All-Star player has been posthumously elected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. And he leads one of the greatest Hall of Fame classes…ever.

The star-studded class also includes Tim Duncan, who won five NBA championships and two MVP awards as the face of the San Antonio Spurs; and Kevin Garnett, who won his own title and an MVP award during a 21-year career mostly with the Boston Celtics and Minnesota Timberwolves. He’s also a 15-time NBA All-Star.

Also, the Hall of Fame is recognizing a female athlete this year as well. Tamika Catchings, who is a four-time Olympic gold medalist and 2012 WNBA champion with the Indiana Fever, will also be inducted.

Rounding out the class – four coaches and an executive will also be inducted, including Kim Mulkey of Baylor University; Barbara Stevens of Bentley University; Eddie Sutton, most notably of Arkansas and Oklahoma State University; Rudy Tomjanovich of the Houston Rockets; and Patrick Baumann, a longtime executive with the International Basketball Federation, or FIBA.

The 2020 Basketball Hall of Fame Class will be enshrined on August 29th in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Sadly, Kobe isn’t with us to celebrate his great accomplishment. The former Los Angeles Lakers player, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant, and seven others died in a horrific helicopter crash on January 26th.

Kobe’s wife, Vanessa Bryant, and his eldest daughter, Natalia Bryant, spoke to ESPN about Kobe’s Hall of Fame induction.

"It's an incredible accomplishment and honor," Vanessa said. "We're extremely proud of him. Obviously, we wish he was here with us to celebrate, but it's definitely the peak of his NBA career and every accomplishment he had as an athlete was a stepping stone to being here."
