In a reboot/reimagining of X-Men Evolution, what if the Spider-kids were there, too, with maybe Aunt May and another Spider-adjacent adult, and they were their own group, along with the Brotherhood and X-Men... And then there is Reader, a spider mutant, who is now stuck in the middle of the three groups, and is trying to stay neutral and out of their way? More-or-less wanting to stick to themself, but not cold or aloof, just someone who may be slightly uneasy around them, yet is friendly or at the least amicable?

Like, imagine the Spider-kids consist of Peter Parker/Spiderman, Miles Morales/Spin, Gwen Stacy/Ghost Spider, maybe with their friends/enemies as Spider-kids too, like Harry Osborn but with Carnage, or a green crab spider or orchard spider theme, Mary Jane Watson or MJ with her symbiote or with a trapdoor spider theme, maybe Flash with the Venom symbiote or with a tarantula theme... Reader I can see being a wolf spider, orbweaver, or jumping spider mutant. Especially if they are related to or an experiment involving the DNA of one of the adult mutants.

Would the X-Men and Brotherhood try to get the Spider-teens at some point to join their groups? Probably. Would it work? I think it depends on what the options are and how stable their powers are. Would they be more spider-like? Yes. The Venom symbiotes could be anything from aliens to experiments to even an alternate personality. Or they could be with the adults? It's undecided as of the moment.

Characters that won't be included in this au are Eddie Brock and Miguel O'Hara. I like them, for the most part, but I'm not sure how to write them. I do like Venom, but I'm sticking more along the animted versions of him, as that works better with this AU.

A name for this AU could be the 🕸Silken Threads and Venomous Webs🕷 AU...

GWEN DEATH ASKER AGAIN!! I’m just going to use 🕸 to identify myself from now on 😮‍💨 also sorry if this whole argument is getting to long or annoying you :(

All in all I don’t believe the death of Gwen was ever fully Peter’s fault. The fault was on Green Goblin (obviously) Gwen and Peter. Yes Peter did act ahead of time by webbing Gwen to a car but righttt before Harry shows up, Peter is fighting Elektro. He is literally about to die before Gwen shows up and helps him kill(?) Elektro by over charging him like a battery. Peter in that moment knows he would’ve died if Gwen hadn’t intervened, I believe that in that moment he forgot about everything, Gwen was literally his hero, she saved him and he forgot his whole mentality of her being constantly in danger.

Then comes in Harry. He really couldn’t have predicted that psycho injecting himself with literal SPIDER VENOM (just points out how weird harry is in that movie) in that moment of him arguing with Harry about how not giving him his blood is the best thing to do, he forgets about Gwen. In his mind she’s safe, she’s gone, until of course Harry directs his attention to her.

Peter wasn’t prepared for what was about to happen, neither was Gwen. Both of them only knew about the threat of Elektro and I feel like they are both equally responsible for her death.

Peter was too slow, he reacted to slow and he was directly involved with killing her. Gwen knew she was running head first into danger after being told not to, being told to stay out of it and be safe. She knew there was a risk and she took it.

Harry literally just took pride in killing her 💀 bro smiled when she died he had no regrets.

All in all there is a Peter Parker effect. (PP effect) He hurts everyone he loves in one way or another across multiple forms of media.

With Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man, he hurts Aunt May, Uncle Ben, MJ, Norman, Harry, Gwen, even Eddie Brock who he didn’t know that well.

With Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man he hurts/kills Captain Stacy, Flash Tompson, Aunt May, Gwen, Harry, Uncle Ben, and even kinda Doc Connors in a self blaming PP way.

With Tom Holland he hurts Liz, Ned, Aunt May, (almost Gwen Stacyifies MJ) and also probably uncle Ben.

Went off on a lil rant at the end but basically Peter is just a sad lil guy who gets brief comercial like breaks of happiness. And his commercial break barely lasts a few seconds each time 😋

You were absolutely freaking the fuck out. You couldn't believe that you were going to dinner and the CEO of Oscorp would be attending! You were always a science geek and meeting him was going to be like meeting the god of science. This was a dream come true!

Even though there was still over two hours till you had to drive to Peter's, you were already practicing what you were going to say, picking out your outfit, wondering how to style your hair, the whole starter pack of meeting one of the world's greatest geniuses.

Back and forth you paced around your bedroom, practicing and muttering to yourself.

"Hi, s-so nice to meet you, sir, my name is.. no, that's not good enough."

"Hi! So nice to meet you, sir. You look great- nooo."

"Hello- what?! NO! Who the hell says 'hello' in person?"

You were like a kid trying to learn how to ride a bike. Wobbly, mentally beating yourself up, and going absolutely nowhere.

So you thought it would just be best to wait until you actually got there and hoped that winging it would be the best strategy. Meanwhile, you pranced over to your bathroom, already in a pair of black dress pants. Now, you just had to pick out a shirt.

You couldn't decide between the white button-up or the red sweater. You thought button-ups were sexy in their own way, but was sexy really the look you were going for to meet the CEO of Oscorp? Probably not. Plus, this particular shirt was extremely see through, and you didn't want to have to layer up and then get all sweaty.

So, you ultimately went with the red sweater. It was knitted in such a nice pattern, with vertical lines spread across the base of the shirt and the arms. It was a sweater, but it wasn't like a heavy sweater that you'd wear to a Christmas party or something. It was perfect, just a bit too tight, but still manageable.

Putting a few spritz of hair spray in your hair and styling it to your liking, you decided to watch TV on the couch to calm your nerves before tonight's dinner.

-Time skip: 5:40 PM/17:40-

By now, you were starting to regret not preparing enough. Your hands grew shaky as your turned the wheel of your car on your way to Peter's, and you couldn't believe how nervous you were. On top of your hands being shaky, your palms also felt sweaty. You tried to get your breathing under control, too, before stepping out of your car and into Peter's garage. You usually entered the house that way.

"Yo, Peter!" you called out. "Where are ya?

"In my room, get in here!" he yelled back.

You quickly made your way to Peter's room. You knocked on the door twice before opening it, greeted by Peter styling his hair in a mirror. He saw your reflection and quickly turned to greet you.

"Hey.. you look fantastic," he commented.

"Why thank you, Mr. Parker," you responded.

"Harry just texted me a couple of minutes ago, he said he's about 5 minutes away," Peter was quick to note.

"Okay, sounds great!"

"And.. by the way," Peter added, quickly gaining your attention, "Please.. just.. give Harry a chance? I was talking to him on the phone last night and I-I really think he likes you. Don't tell him I told you this or anything, but really, Harry is such a genuine, sweet guy a-and I probably sound biased because he's like my brother but–"

"Peter, I feel like you think I hate Harry or something," you began, cutting Peter off from his rambling, "I agree with you! He's kind and very intelligent, just like his father, I just don't know if we're compatible."

"You haven't even given him a chance yet!" he interjected.

You lowered your voice to a harsh whisper, "Listen, you know what happened with me and my last relationship. Dating is not as easy to me as it might be for you. I don't know if I can trust Harry, regardless of the things you are telling me. Unless he really stuck out to me, which he doesn't at the moment, then I'm not going to throw myself at his feet, especially if you keep begging me to! If I feel that Harry and I are compatible, I will certainly try and make a move. Now, please stop asking me to try and get with your best friend just because you feel bad!"

Peter let out a long sigh, he seemed almost speechless, "...Okay. I'm sorry"

Ding dong

"Oh shit, that must be them. I'll go let them in." Like a bolt of lightning, Peter flashed out of the room, probably feeling awkward from what you had just said. You were hoping you didn't hurt his feelings. You sighed and fixed some stray hairs in Peter's mirror.

The once very quiet house suddenly became filled with noise as your heard Peter greetings the Osborns. You were always a little shy when it came to meeting new people. Now that you're meeting a multibillionare, it heightened your anxiety even more. You felt like you had a big impression to make.

Slowly you crept out of Peter's room. You can see that the part of the house you were in was still empty, so they must all still be in the foyer. You slowly inched your way there, peeking around the corner and seeing Harry talking with Peter. From where you were standing, you couldn't see Mr. Osborn.

You seized your courage and took a deep breath, taking a few steps towards Peter. He must have heard your footsteps approaching, so he turned quickly and took your wrist in his hand.

Peter put his arm around your shoulder, "Oh, and Norman, I don't believe you met Y/N yet. They've been a good friend of ours for quite some time now." You felt as though you were as stiff as a statue. You probably looked like an idiot. You were too busy smiling and being awkward that you didn't catch Norman staring at you with wide eyes.

Once you did look over at him, he shook you hand slowly, introducing himself. You shook his hand in return.

"I-It's an honour to meet you, Mr. Osborn," you tried your best to sound calm.

"Oh, please, call me Norman," he gave a small smirk, hardly visible enough to notice. He could tell you were trying not to blush.

"Dinner will be ready in about ten or fifteen minutes," Peter informed everyone.

"Sounds good," Harry replied.

Harry made his way with Peter to the living room where they shouted like madmen at the game playing on the TV. Meanwhile, you kept checking your hair in the bathroom, leaving the door open. You were never really a stickler for your hair being perfect, but tonight you thought it looked absolutely atrocious. You were getting so frustrated with it.

Without your knowledge, Norman approached the bathroom, trying his best not to admire the way you styled your hair. "You look great," Norman said, trying to reassure you, you supposed. He was leaning against the doorframe. You jumped, you didn't even hear him approach the bathroom.

"Oh, thank you, Norman," you said with a sigh of relief.

"That red sweater look amazing, too," he added, pointing to the piece of clothing. "Red really is your colour," he mostly whispered that last part. His voice was smooth like silk.

"Thank you. I wasn't actually sure about wearing this sweater tonight. Thought it looked a little silly on me."

"I think it looks gorgeous on you," he whispered again.

You were visibly blushing. You knew it and you didn't care. There was something Norman Osborn was doing to you, and you knew that he was doing it on purpose.

Peter called you both from the dining room.

"We should probably go," you mentioned.

You walked alongside Norman to the dining room, gradually separating yourself from him as you got closer to the table. You shivered when he whispered in your ear, "Sit next to me."

You innocently took a seat next to Norman at the dining room table as Harry and Peter brought out the food. You saw Harry's eyebrows furrow in confusion at the sight of you sitting next to his dad, but he didn't protest and took a seat next to Peter. Peter, too, looked confused.

The dinner was absolutely fantastic. Peter made a roasted chicken and Harry also contributed by making mashed potatoes. There were a couple vegetables to choose from, as well. It wasn't anything big, but it was just enough for the four of you. Not to mention it tasted fucking phenomenal.

You offered to collect and wash the dishes when you saw that everyone had finished. Harry offered to help you in hopes of getting to spend some alone time with you, but Norman insisted that he relaxed with Peter in the living room and that he would help you with the dishes. Harry was frustrated with his father. Norman didn't know that Harry was interested in you, but that didn't change the fact that Harry didn't get a chance to talk to you at all yet.

You grabbed some soap and began scrubbing the dishes with a sponge. You felt Norman slowly creep up to you, standing by your side and wrapping his arm around your shoulders.

"You're.. really pretty," he whispered softly, looking at the sink in front of you both.

You stopped what you were doing, completely frozen in place. Norman quickly observed this and was quick to add, "I-I'm sorry, I know that was weird to say, I-I just really think that you're.. attractive.. and..."

You smiled and looked at him, "I-It's okay, Norman, really. I think you're.. really pretty, too." Yeah, you thought he was pretty alright. Maybe a little more than pretty...

Norman's gave averted to yours, and you saw his lips part slowly. His arm was still around your shoulders and you could've sworn that you were seeing him slowly lean towards you, so you began to do the same. You swear you were about to kiss him, you wanted to so badly, but everything that seemed to be happening stopped when his phone started to buzz in his pocket.

Norman pulled out his phone and took a look at it. You thought it was a phone call but it was apparently only a text message. You saw his eyes widen after a moment and heard him mutter an 'oh shit' before storming out of the kitchen and grabbing his coat from the coat hanger. Harry and Peter heard the commotion from Norman's footsteps and quickly shuffled to the foyer.

"Dad, what's going on?" Harry asked, visibly extremely concerned. He turned his head to the side and saw you standing at the end of the foyer. His gaze softened when he saw the pain in your eyes.

"Something came up at the headquarters, I have to leave now. It's an emergency. I-It was great seeing you Peter," Norman announced in a shaky voice. He didn't even look at you as he bolted out of the door. He never even said goodbye to you..

For the rest of the night, you were very visibly upset. You tried to hide it, but it was so clear. Peter kept asking you what was wrong, but you always shook the question off. Eventually, you ended up leaving early, too. It wasn't just the Norman thing that made you upset, it was also Harry who kept pushing himself onto you after his dad left. He did it time and time again, and it genuinely made you extremely uncomfortable, so you left.

You couldn't even remember driving home that evening since your head was so preoccupied the entire drive. Why did Norman leave so soon? Why didn't he even say goodbye to you? Did you make him uncomfortable? Probably. You're a fucking loser for trying to make advances on your lover's dad. Harry probably noticed too, the way you pushed him away all night.

When you got home, you quickly threw on a hoodie and some sweatpants and launched yourself onto the couch. You fell asleep after watching some TV, you didn't even check your phone to see the texts that Peter had sent you.

I'm really disappointed that you left early. I thought we were having a good time. Did something happen?

You didn't even talk to Harry, he's all upset now that you're gone

You woke up pretty late the next morning, close to noon, and texted Peter apologising for last night and that you would call him later. You didn't feel like dealing with him or Harry's feelings right now.

You just couldn't get last night out of your head.

You wondered if last night was the first and last time you'd ever see Norman. You bashed yourself over and over on whether or not you did something wrong.

In the middle of making yourself some lunch, well, breakfast in this case, you heard a truck pulling into your driveway. You were assuming you were getting something you ordered online – but then you realised you haven't bought anything online recently.

After waiting for the truck to leave, you slowly made your way to your front door. You opened it slowly, like a kid trying to sneak out of their room at night, and peeked out the crack of the space between the door and the doorframe. You saw a cardboard box sitting on your front porch. It had two strings tied around it, holding an envelope in between.

You quickly snatched the box from outside and placed in on your kitchen counter. You went to grab some scissors as you wondered who could've sent you a package. One you cut the strings, you took the envelope and opened that first.

There was a letter inside of it. Strange, you don't really get cards in the mail, let alone a letter. You slowly unfolded it and began to read.

Dear Y/N,

I'm so sorry for the other night. I did not intend to leave so early. I don't even think I said goodbye to you.

I had a terrific time meeting you. Well, I shouldn't sell myself out – I think that you are absolutely gorgeous, Y/N.

From the moment I saw you, I had to peel my eyes off of you in order to make eye contact with someone else. Your smile is brighter than the sun, and that red sweater captivated your beauty perfectly.

I know I only got to talk with you for a few brief moments, but I really am interested in getting to know you better, if you would like that. My phone number is listed at the bottom of this letter. Give me a call and we can plan something out.

You were absolutely touched by the letter. Your chest felt warm, as if your heart that had little cracks in it from last night were healing.

You were so glad your admiration for him was reciprocated.

You were so caught up in your bubbly little teenage-like feelings that you almost forgot to open the box. You wondered what Norman got you.. and why.

Slowly you sliced through the tape with one blade of the scissors, and opened the box. There was a little notecard on top of some wrapping paper.

I thought this would look phenomenal on you, even more than the one you wore last night. If you do want to go out, I would love to see you wear this.

You heart filled with joy. What could he have possibly bought you? You tore apart the wrapping paper to reveal what was inside. You pulled it out to fully look at its beauty.

You were in your bedroom which you shared with your fiancé Harry Osborn, the next CEO of the Oscorp industries with whom your wedding was slated for next week at his posh country house. You were sitting at the edge of the bed with your phone in one hand that had your contacts list open while you caressed your engagement ring on your ring finger with your thumb lost in your own thoughts.

“Honey? Y/N?” Harry’s voice startles you as you look up at him.

“Huh yeah sorry I didn’t hear you” 

“It's ok I just came to ask if you have anyone else left to add to our wedding guest list or should I finalize this?” he says, you glance down at your phone as your eyes lingered at the contact saved as Peter🕷🕸💔 with a photo of him.

“Well actually I do have one” you say with slight hesitation.

“OK say the name I’ll add” 

“Peter Benjamin Parker” you tell him.

“His name is already there in the list” he informs you.

“Oh I had no idea you were acquaintances” 

“More than acquaintances, actually we were best friends in college but how do you know him?” he asks.

“Uh we were friends I mean best friends back in high school” you said.

“So what happened?” 

“Well life happened, we graduated and went our separate ways eventually we lost touch” you shrugged nonchalantly.

“That's sad but hey I’m sure he would be thrilled to see you again” he cheers you up.

“Hope so” you smiled as he gave a kiss to your forehead and left you by yourself as you got lost in your memories.

It has been eight good years since you graduated from Midtown High and closed a chapter of your life which you no longer want to revisit because it just brings back painful memories of how you lost your best friend as well as your first love on the same day. And even after completing med school and being engaged to the most wonderful loving person and your fiancé Harry you still think of the possibility of what if you showed a little extra courage and confessed your feelings to Peter. Even if he would have rejected you at least you could have got some peace of mind and not think of the possibility of what if things would have actually worked out back then?

Damn you whoever said that you can never get over your first love 'cause it’s true.

Peter Parker that name was enough to make butterflies erupt in your stomach. You and Peter were joined at the hip as far as you can remember since elementary school. He was this shy kid of the class, his soft brown curls splayed across his forehead as he stuck out his tongue the corner of his mouth focused on scribbling gibberish on his notebook which you found cute.

You remember approaching him and asking him if you can sit beside him to which he nervously said yes, that’s when everything started. And time went by as you grew up together. You laughed and cried together and celebrated each other’s accomplishments. You were so close that people often used to mistake you as a couple but you both would dismiss it saying that it is so weird because you were best friends and it will always be like that.

But maybe you always had feelings for him and it just grew with passing time. They kept knocking at the door of your heart but you were confused and used to brush them off.

Then one day it just happened out of nowhere you were at his place studying for your chemistry test and he was explaining to you a topic that you were having difficulty in understanding with a soft look on his face and your heart stopped. It feels like the world has disappeared around you and everything has come to a standstill, it’s just you and him and in a weird but beautiful way you feel whole but you still couldn’t exactly name this feeling.

You never know you love your best friend until someone comes into their life. And MJ was that someone. You knew Peter had a longtime crush on her since middle school. He used to gush about how pretty she is, especially with her red hair and green eyes. But you never thought that he would have the courage to act on his feelings or you just had convinced yourself that you both are going to be together all your life. 

The day Peter walked down the halls with MJ hand in hand  and that was what it took for you to realize that you have fallen hard for your best friend and it was too late now. You stayed up all night at the rooftop of your apartment listening to Peter about how he finally asked her out and she said yes and they kissed. How magical it felt for him to finally get to call his longtime crush his girlfriend. 

Every time you saw them together laughing, sneaking in lonely kisses you couldn’t ignore the pang of jealousy in your heart. Even though you want him to be happy, you also want to be the one who makes him happy. You scoff at the thought but it is true, the heart wants what it wants. 

You know this love you have for him leads you to a dead end with no exit. It is a passionate yet sinful feeling as you sleep picturing yourself in his arms while you try to count the freckles on his face. Your mind has already made the decision and now there’s no going back. 

You now crave his attention even more but you also get scared. You don’t want to create this awkwardness between the two of you. You are afraid of his reaction, you don’t want to lose what you already have, a beautiful friendship. But, you know that you’ve already lost your heart to him without either of you knowing and so you started acting out on those unrequited feelings.

You tried to find excuses to be with him even if you didn’t need him. You would call him up for silly reasons just to hear his voice or ask him to come over just to spend a little more time with him. But you should have known better because you can’t really hold on to someone. 

Just like you can’t hold on to sand in your fist -- it will eventually slip away. The tighter you wanted to hold onto Peter, the more he slipped away. You went from talking all day all night to barely a few distant texts a day. However busy you both might be with your lives you always used to find time for each other and now he doesn’t even show up at your window for days. You had to come to terms that your relationship with Peter was nearing it’s expiry date and that dreadful day arrived pretty soon.

Peter had called you earlier that he would come by your place and you got a little bit of hint of what is to happen later because he never called you beforehand to see you. It was a clear sky, stars twinkling like little fireflies against the dark canvas of the night as you and Peter sat next to each other on the rooftop. Few moments passed as you both went about each other’s day but you knew Peter more than anyone else in this world. The whole time of your conversation he was fiddling with his fingers anxiously, a frown creased his forehead as he frequently zoned out in between.

“Ok what is it?” you finally asked him.

“What?” he blinked his eyes owlishly as if he was caught. 

“There's something on your mind I know so just spill it out” you told.

“No there's-there's nothing” he fumbled.

“Peter I have known you since childhood so stop pretending. I have been watching you since the time you arrived you have been distracted the whole time” you confront him.

“I do have something to tell you” he mumbles, staring down at his lap.

“Well I'm listening”

“Uh….I really don’t know where to start” he hesitated.

“Peter, it's just me. You can tell me whatever you want” you assured him.

“Yeah I know” he said sadly.

“So?” you nudged him further.

He sighed “It’s about MJ”

“Is everything alright between you two?” you frowned in concern.

“Yeah, yeah it’s fine” he reassures you.

“Then?”

“It’s-it’s about you” a lump forming inside his throat as he said that.

“Me? What about me?” you looked at him surprised even though you know what is coming next.

“MJ doesn’t like seeing me talking to you she-she thinks there’s something going on  between us”

“But that’s not true you and I we have always been friends” 

“Yes, yes I know and I tried everything to make her believe the same but she won’t listen to anything and now she wants me to…” he trails away.

“Break our friendship” you finished the sentence for him.

“Believe me Y/N I really don’t want to do this” he added.

“I believe you Pete but I also know how much you love her. She makes you happy and what kind of best friend would I be if I were to keep you away from your happiness?” you gave a tight lipped smile.

“Y/N…”

“It’s ok Peter your happiness is mine too and if breaking your friendship with me makes her happy then you should do it” you don’t know how you managed to say all this without breaking down in front of him because it felt like someone pierced thousands of needles inside your heart such was the pain.

“I’m sorry Y/N but I really love her and I couldn’t say no to her” he looked at you apologetically.

“I understand Peter there’s no need to be sorry after all she’s your first love” just like he was your first love and you are ready to sacrifice your friendship for his happiness. You stayed silent for a while soaking in the last bit of your moments together before you broke the silence.

“So this is it?” you sighed.

“I guess so. But I’m really sorry” he apologized.

“It’s fine anyways it’s just only one more month before we leave for college this won’t be a big problem for me I mean you can text right if not talk in person?”

“Yeah that’s right. Y/N I want you to know that you’ll always be my best friend and anytime you need my help I’ll always be there for you” he told you.

“I’ll keep that in mind Parker”

And just like that you let him go even when you know that he is worth a fight, that he is your home. Even though it breaks your heart into pieces and every atom of your body wants to hold him back but you know your home has found a new destination and it’s time for you to move on.

You stood up and went to your closet to pull out a worn out red sweatshirt from the back. It belonged to Peter which you stole at one of your sleepovers because you felt safe and comfortable in it, because it reminded you of him. It was the only thing you couldn’t get rid of, you didn’t want him to completely disappear from your life.

You bring the sweatshirt to your face and deeply inhale it’s scent as you are instantly reminded of those beautiful memories you had made together. Those late night conversations you had while you stitched him up when he appeared at your window all battered and bruised from a fight or all those fun star wars movie nights where you threw popcorn at each other and fought with pillows.

Peter was your comfort person, he was like the summer breeze against your skin. Every time you held hands or he hugged you it lit up a spark inside you. His freckles, his smile, his hazel brown eyes, the way his eyes crinkled at the corners when he laughed, the way he scrunched his face when he knew he messed up, the way he played with his fingers when he was nervous you had memorized him like the lyrics of your old favorite song. The numerous silly fights you had which ended up both of you laughing as you tried figuring out why you fought in the first place.

You regret that you let yourself get attached to him so much without knowing that love could be this strong. You had said you would be fine but the first few months you were a mess the feeling of loneliness was eating you alive you had lost the shoulder you could always lean on to cry your heart out. You missed him and that was the truth. You wish you would have never met because it hurts when you love someone with all your heart and he doesn’t love you back. So when he left it was like he took all the colors away from your life, the warm summer breeze in your life transitioned to the chilly autumn breeze. And you realized that loving him was red.

And even after all these years those memories still echoes in your mind. How much ever you tell yourself that it’s time to let go but forgetting him is like forgetting a part of you. So you are going to embrace your new life with all those memories, finally making peace with the fact that moving on from him is impossible when you still see it all in your head in burning red.

Peter returned to his apartment in the evening after a hectic day at the daily bugle. He opened his letterbox to find an invitation and a smile appeared on his face when he found out it was from his college pal Harry Osborn. He opened the card to find all his happiness fading away when he saw your name as the bride. 

No this is not how he imagined to meet you again after all these years. The last one month of senior year was painful for him. Seeing you across the hallway and not able to hug you or hold your hands felt like a punishment to him but he consoled his heart by saying at least he gets to see your face everyday. But the day you graduated and went your separate ways it didn’t take him a day to realize what a big mistake he had made breaking off your friendship. 

He had been chasing after a false notion of love and happiness when he already had it with you because unbeknownst of his knowledge he had been in love with you all this time. It didn’t take him much time after that to call it quits with MJ as he went running back to your apartment to be informed by your parents that you have already left for Europe to pursue medicine at Oxford.

He tried calling you, texting you to let you know about how he felt for you but you never replied. And he knew that he had lost you forever but still he wouldn’t give up his hopes of meeting you one day as you had promised to always be there for each other. 

Some days he would swipe through your photos he had in his phone and reminisce about the old times how everything was perfect because you were there by his side. He would almost end up running his fingers through your name, type another apology asking you to come back but would always end up hitting the backspace. 

He still smiles when it rains remembering how you danced in it. He still reads your old texts. He still waits for your name to show up in his call logs cause he misses you, he misses his best friend whom he had fallen in love but was too stupid to figure it out before it was too late. And now he can’t stop loving you.

He still doesn’t know why he let you go, you were his everything and now you are his almost. He wishes he could tell you how much it hurts to think about you everyday because he too sees it all in his head in burning red.
