I really hate pining with all my heart, so here’s an idea: CodyWan who fall in love within the first month of meeting each other and hold hands and give hugs and little nuzzles and everyone else is like ‘yeah. Cody and the General. They sure are friendly…’ but no one says it to them till they overhear it one day and straight up go ‘we got married on month two of dating’ and everyone loses their minds they thought they were in a ‘everyone but them knows they’re married’ AU but they’re actually in a ‘speedrun strangers to old married couple’ AU and they’re so confused.

Shatterpoint Shuffle
I decided to have a bit of fun with @bitter-chocolate-stars's cracky idea about time traveling clones and tiny Obi-Wan, as aided and abetted by @krazykupidspoems.
-
Padawan Mace Windu entered the Kybuck Clan crèche. scanning the tiny initiates currently engaged in free play. He stopped dead in his tracks as he caught sight of one initiate, who was offering their sippy cup to the air.
His Master bumped into him, resting a hand on his shoulder.
"Is something wrong, Padawan?" Master Myr asked.
Mace pressed his back against her, wanting to get out of the room.
"That initiate," he said, swallowing a wave of nausea. "They... The shatterpoints. They're made of shatterpoints!"
The initiate in question was talking to an imaginary friend, oblivious to Mace's discomfort. They pulsed in the Force, surrounded by fracture lines and shards of barely-glimpsed potential. Shifting, twisting, changing; Mace pressed his thumb into the base of his wrist, trying to suppress the dizziness.
"Is that so?" Master Myr leaned over his shoulder, looking at the initiate. "How interesting."
The initiate's head whipped around, locking eyes with Mace, who tried once again to back away. They scrambled to their feet and ran over, beaming up at him.
"Gen'ral Windu! Ponds says he misses you!" They held their arms out. "Up!"
For a heartbeat one of the shards grew bigger, giving Mace the impression of... eyes, maybe. Or blood.
"Ponds?" He echoed, stooping to pick them up. He didn't want this walking nest of shatterpoints anywhere near him, but some imperatives were too big to override.
"General," his Master murmured behind him.
"Uh huh!" The initiate flopped against his chest, thumb inserted in their mouth, talking around it. "He says s'not your fault, it was that b-" They broke off, glancing aside. "Huh? A bad word? Oh, okay! It was the bad lady's fault."
Guileless grey-blue eyes stared up at him. A flicker, and they were older and filled with grief. Another flicker and they were younger, dancing with humor. Another flicker.
Mace blinked to clear it away, swallowing his queasiness.
"Thank you for telling me, initiate," he said, trying to sound sincere.
"You seem very knowledgeable, little one," Master Myr said. "Do you know my Padawan well?"
"Uh huh!" They paused mid-nod, glancing aside. "Uh uh!" They shook their head. "I will someday? That's what Cody says!"
"And who is Cody?"
He could feel Cyslin rubbing small circles against his back, but while he tried to take comfort from it he still felt as if he was cuddling a bomb.
"He's- oh right! I need to int'duce myself!" Removing their thumb from their mouth, they held their hand out over Mace's shoulder. "I'm Obi-Wan Kenobi! And some day I'm gonna be a Master!"
The named echoed in the Force, a susurration.
The crèchemaster saved him at that point, coming over to whisk Obi-Wan away for a nap.
"I hope Obi-Wan didn't trouble you too much," Master Tlah said, once everyone had been settled. "He has a very active imagination, even for a human toddler."
"That's quite alright, isn't it, Mace?" Cyslin elbowed him.
Mace bowed. "Yes, of course. It was fine, Master Tlah," he lied.
The two Masters chatted for a bit before he and Cyslin finally left the crèche.
"So," she said, in a tone Mace had come to dread. "Young Obi-Wan seems very interesting."
"That's one way of putting it," he muttered.
"Perhaps this is the Force's way of giving you a hint."
He side-eyed her, wariness prickling between his shoulders. She caught the look, grinning as she ruffled his braids.
"My poor, suspicious Padawan," she teased. "All I'm saying is that if he's still 'made of shatterpoints' by the time he comes of age, he might benefit from having a Master who understands what that means."
He turned to stare at her in open-mouthed horror, making her laugh.
"Absolutely not," he said. "I'm still a Padawan! I'll probably still be a Padawan by then!"
"We'll see, my little General, we'll see."
She continued down the hall, leaving Mace to wallow in a sense of impending doom. A flicker of possibility off to one side, carrying the suggestion of laughter.
"Absolutely not," he repeated, hoping the Force believed him.

Debriefing *part 1* (Knight Anakin x PadawanFemReader)
Tumblr media
Summary: After a successful undercover mission, you want to properly thank General Skywalker…too bad he’s in a debriefing with your master. Oh, well, better keep quiet.
Warnings: 18+ (minors dni), because of all the lovely smut. Blowjob and Ani’s big dick. Padawan reader is of age.
Notes: Hope you also enjoy part 2, part 3, and part 4!
“Hello, Anakin. I take it since I’m hearing from you that the undercover mission was a success?”
“You would be correct, master. We were able to…”
You had the thought earlier today. It was exciting and thrilling…naughty and oh so very wrong. The type you really shouldn’t act on, but the desire burns so brightly that it can’t be ignored. So, when you heard the voices coming from the next room, you knew the perfect opportunity had finally arisen.
With your mind set and your wits about you, you discreetly slipped inside…making sure to stay out of holo Obi-Wan’s view.
The moment Anakin locked eyes with you he knew something was up. The mischievous expression you wore practically said it all.
“And how was my padawan? I hope she wasn’t too much trouble for you,”, your master asked jokingly.
“Actually, she…” Anakin began to say, but trailed off as he saw you shake your head and press a finger to your lips.
‘I’m not even here.’ You sent through your newly formed bond.
Ani shot you a leery look, but decided to play along. “Was no trouble at all, perfect, little angel,” he replied with a small smirk.
“Excellent. Now about the…”
Tuning out the remainder of the conversation, you eased yourself down onto all fours…crawling underneath the console he was seated at.
It was now or never. Burying your face into his crotch, you breathed in his heavenly scent. A mix of cinnamon and musk, that made your skin grow hot and excitement build between your legs.
Instantly you could feel Anakin stiffen up, and in more ways than one. ‘Angel, what do you think you’re-’
You gave him a small nip. ‘Showing my appreciation for a job well done. Enjoy and, remember, I’m not even here.’
Thinking he would be furious; you were surprised when Ani pulled down his pants. Just enough to free his thick, hard cock. ‘Fine, but you better not make a sound…or else you’ll get it later.’
You tried your best to stifle a moan at the sight of it. ‘Yes, general.’
Happily, you dove in. Running your tongue up and down his thighs, you gave the sensitive skin a gentle bite here and there. A low hiss could be heard in the back of your mind.
Slowly and torturously, you kissed your way up from the base of his shaft. Giving his red, hot tip a few teasing licks when you reached the top. The sounds of his groans flooding the bond.
Smiling, you lazily sucked on his head. Before taking into your mouth as much of his impressive length as you possibly could. Trying your very best not to gag, you bobbed your head up and down. Loving the noises that filled your head.
You felt his organic hand come to rest on the back of your neck, fingers lacing through your hair. ‘Come on, little one; I know you can do better than that.’ And pushed himself the rest of the way in.
This time you gagged slightly as he thrust in and out. The tip of his cock hitting the back of your throat repeatedly.
‘Feel so good, sweetheart. So perfect.’
Tears pricked the corners of your eyes. You forced yourself to remain still for him as he picked up speed. How you loved the delicious burn.
‘That’s it. That’s, my good girl.’
When you thought he was nearing his end, Ani abruptly pulled out. Leaving you breathless and disappointed.
You heard the sound of Obi-Wan still talking above you. “Well, when she awakes; please, give her my regards. May the force be with you both.”
The transmission must have ended after that because a heavy silence now filled the air. You broke it with a small whimper of protest. He answered by sliding his hand from your neck to your aching cunt.
Cupping it firmly, you half expected Anakin to push your panties to the side and begin running his long fingers between your folds. Instead, with a quick jerk of his arm and the scrapping of his chair, he dragged you out by it alone.
Whimpering, you gazed up at him with wide eyes. Had you done something bad? Had you made some kind of noise without knowing? All you wanted was his cum. All you needed was his dick. Didn’t matter where, just give it to you.
“You’re not in trouble, hatari,” he cooed lovingly, while tightening his grip. “If I’m going to cum, then it’s going to be in that sweet little pussy of yours. Understand?”
You nodded weakly, pathetically grinding against his palm.
Ani flashed you a dazzling smile. “Now be a good padawan and go wait in my quarters. I have something I need to finish. I promise to be quick.”
Pulling you effortlessly to your feet, he growled low into your ear. “Just don’t have too much fun without me.” He then gave your now soaking cunt one last hard squeeze and sent you on your way.
He waited a moment, making sure you were out of sight, before turning his attention back to the extremely stunned looking Obi-Wan.
“And may the force be with you too, master,” Anakin said smugly. “Skywalker out.”

Obikin sickfic musings
So I’ve been sick for almost the past week, pretty much unable to look at a screen or do much more than rot in my bedroom for most of it. But! I have been thinking sick fic thoughts. Especially after reading Lemon's Obi-Wan sickfic a few weeks back. What is Anakin like when he’s sick? (And how does Obi-Wan take care of him)
The Jedi don’t get sick very often and when they do, they can often be sent to the Halls of Healing or the medbay of their star destroyers to get any illness treated quickly. But sometimes that isn’t possible, common colds are too various and changeable to treat directly so it’s easier a lot of the time for them to pass on their own.
Anakin gets one while out in the field and doesn’t really notice at first. A bit of congestion, fatigue, dizziness, isn’t really enough to stop him from doing what needs to be done. Honestly, most of that is expected after pushing himself so hard for so long.
When Anakin is sick, he pushes himself too hard. He is out on a campaign, stationed on planet, and in the midst of leading the ground troops through an assault. Midway through, he stops giving orders, fully immersed in his own head and doing what needs to be done. He has a few close calls, his reflexes are slower than they should be, but they live to fight another day. Ahsoka and Rex give him a few sideways looks as they return to the ship.
Even when the battle is over, he doesn’t retire to his quarters. He stays up, heading to the hangar to catch up on some repairs he has been thinking about for weeks. He waves off attempts to get him to slow down and rest, needing to keep going until he collapses.
Ahsoka loses patience with him almost immediately and hands the situation over to Rex until he convinces her to call in reinforcements. General Kenobi is in the system, wrapping up an engagement on a neighboring planet. If anyone can tell Anakin to sit down and rest, it’s him. Thankfully, he is only an hour away.
“Anakin.”
“What are you doing here?”
“You’re sick.”
“I’m fine. Did Ahsoka call you?”
“She did but I’m told the decision was seconded by Rex, your officers, and Chief Medic Kix.”
“…Traitors.”
“There are two ways this could go. You can admit that you are not feeling well and head back to your quarters to sleep of the rest of this cold with your dignity still intact.”
“Or?”
“Or I give it about ten minutes before you collapse and I have to carry you back to your quarters.”
“Fine.”
Anakin wasn’t exactly allowed to be sick when he was little. His mother took care of him as best she could, but Watto forced him to work regardless of how Anakin felt. His early years at the Temple were marked by a few bouts of illness, as his body adapted to its strange new home. He is better about recognizing illness and accepting help now but some habits are hard to break.
“Don’t you have somewhere else to be?”
“My mission went exceedingly well, thanks for asking. Completed it with just enough time to wrestle unruly former padawans into bed.”
“I mean, if you want to—”
“You can barely stand, Anakin. Hold still.”
“I’m still capable of taking my own armor off.”
“Then why is it still on?”
“…I think it’s half the reason I’m still standing.”
“Come now. Clothes off.”
“Sir, yes, sir.”
“Anakin.”
When Anakin is feeling truly miserable, every kindness shown to him is treated like a gift from the Force itself.
“You don’t have to be here, you know.”
“I know.”
“I’m here now, in bed, resting. I promise I’m not dumb enough to run off the second you leave.”
“I know that too.”
Anakin breathes a heavy sigh that catches around the congestion in his chest. He clears his throat and nuzzles into Obi-Wan’s side.
“Thank you.”
“Whatever for?”
“For everything,” Anakin slurs. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, darling.”
Anakin smiles at the sound of the endearment he only ever hears when he is very sick. Obi-Wan offers it up carelessly to other people but it only ever gets administered to Anakin when he is at his lowest, perhaps when Obi-Wan thinks that Anakin won’t notice or remember, or when he believes Anakin most needs to hear it. Anakin remembers every single “darling” and “dearest” and “love”. Something about them does make him feel just a little bit better.
“Are you going to make your tea?”
“You hate my tea.”
“Yes, but I like that you make it.”
“…Alright.”
Anakin doesn't like the taste of Obi-Wan's tea but he does like the way that the ceramic mug feels in his hands and the smell of the steam that wafts from it and the way it fights the chill from his low-grade fever. This time, when he holds it in his hands and shivers, it almost feels like a good thing.
Obi-Wan stays with Anakin as he falls asleep, sitting up behind him on the narrow bed in Anakin’s quarters, keeping him elevated to help with his congestion. He runs his fingers through Anakin’s hair as Anakin’s mouth falls slack and he begins to doze as well.
“Aren’t you worried about getting sick too?”
“A Jedi doesn’t get sick.”
“What do you call this then?”
“A minor setback. You’ll be on your feet again in no time. Now, rest.”
When Anakin can’t sleep and makes some truly pitiful noises, Obi-Wan agrees to read to him. Anakin buries his face in Obi-Wan’s robes as he lets the words wash over him. It doesn’t matter what Obi-Wan is reading to him, the fact that he is here, that he cares, is more than enough. Obi-Wan presses a kiss to Anakin’s forehead just before he falls asleep again to check on his temperature.
Obi-Wan is only able to spend a few hours with him before being called back to the front. He manages to escape before Anakin’s cold takes a turn for the gross, all of the coughing and hacking that means that whatever is in his system is finally starting to break up a bit. The few hours together don’t feel like much, don’t feel like enough, but he is able to help Anakin to take care of himself and offer a bit of comfort in a time so often devoid of it.
“Master, is that Master Kenobi’s robe?”
“Yeah, he left it for me.”
“Isn’t it just a standard issue robe? You have like three of them.”
“It’s soft.”

[Anakin Skywalker x Padawan!Fem Reader]
Masterlist | Wattpad | AO3 Not My Code Masterlist
Summary: On the day of your knighting, you find yourself forced to confront someone you absolutely do not want to see—at least not in Anakin's company. The presence of your Master's ex-wife at the ceremony has a hidden agenda, but whatever she aims to achieve, you want to be one step ahead.
Tumblr media
Warnings: angst | jealousy | kissing | satisfying ending Author Note: This time, there won't be anything spicy, but let's raise the suspense a bit! We'll delve into some intrigue, but in the end, I hope the conclusion will be satisfying.
Word Count: 3k
The absence of your Padawan's braid behind your ear was a strange feeling, but even though you often complained about how it irritated you and visually ruined your best hairstyles, you held it in your hands with a hint of nostalgia. It marked the end of a very significant chapter in your life, but also the gateway to something, you hope, much better. The ceremony was beautiful and atmospheric, with surprisingly many guests—not just those you invited through your friendly droid, but also a few important senators, the Chancellor himself... And... Well, speaking of senators... You knew Padmé Amidala would show up at the ceremony—it wasn't a surprise to you. However, you consistently pushed that awareness to the back of your mind, not allowing thoughts of that 'first encounter' to trouble you. You didn't look in her direction during the ceremony—your gaze was probing Anakin, who, in turn, didn't even turn his head toward her, which buoyed your spirits. After the ceremony, you exchanged handshakes and accepted congratulations from guests alongside your Master, who proudly accompanied you throughout. Once you made sure to thank everyone for their attendance, you directed your guests to Dex's diner, reserved for you and your party that evening. "Are we not all going together?" Obi-Wan asked, standing with Anakin in the temple foyer. "Go ahead, I'll catch up with you in a moment; I just need to change into something more comfortable." you replied with a smile, gesturing to your elaborately adorned, albeit uncomfortable, outfit worn during the knighting. "Ten minutes, and we'll be toasting without you, Ma'am." Kenobi summarized, eliciting laughter from you and Skywalker, before slowly making their way toward the exit. "Um, Anakin!?" you called out while the two were still within your reach. "Yes?" Skywalker turned toward you. "Do you have the reservation confirmation with you? Just in case." you asked, and Anakin pulled a paper badge from his belt. "Better safe than sorry." he replied with a smile, to which you nodded and smiled back. With this brief exchange, you went your separate ways. .................................................................................................................. Obi-Wan and Anakin walked in silence until they entered one of the lifts in a spacious corridor. "What was that?" Kenobi suddenly asked, pulling Skywalker out of his reverie. "What do you mean, Master?" he asked, trying to figure out what had caused such a puzzled expression on Obi-Wan's face. "You didn't insult each other, neither of you called the other an idiot or showed the middle finger, and to top it off, it's the first time I've heard her call you by your first name." Kenobi clarified, crossing his arms in an 'appraising' manner. "Did I do something wrong?" Skywalker asked rhetorically. "No, but any deviation from the norm—in your case, Anakin—especially surprises me." Obi-Wan replied, maintaining his posture. "I'm just putting into practice what you taught me, Master." added Anakin, smiling proudly at Kenobi. "Should I be afraid?" asked Obi-Wan, even more bewildered, though surprised. "Who knows?" Skywalker added with a hint of irony as the lift doors began to open. The two walked through the deserted ground floor of the temple, which was a straight path to the exit. "I had something to ask you... How are you feeling?" Kenobi suddenly inquired, taking advantage of the moment. "I don't quite understand." Skywalker expressed confusion this time. "It's the first time in a very long time when, you know... the Senator is our guest. I know you've been through rough times, and..."
"Answering your question, Master... I feel better than ever." Anakin interrupted, surprising Kenobi slightly, but internally delighted because the answer to this question—especially recently—hadn't been an easy one for his apprentice. Obi-Wan regularly posed this question to him, but today, for the first time, he received a determined answer, a response he had been waiting for a long time, perhaps signaling that a painful phase in Anakin's life was finally becoming clear. "Well... So I guess we'll raise a toast for that as well today." Kenobi added after a moment of silence, and Anakin turned towards him, exchanging a subtle smile. Soon, the duo reached the exit of the temple, and before them stood the crew waiting by the doors, ready to accompany the two Generals to the diner. "Finally, so, are we ready to roll?" Rex shouted, gesturing towards Anakin and Obi-Wan. "This is where the fun begins." Skywalker whispered to Kenobi, and both with smiles, headed towards the crew. ..................................................................................................................
In the meantime, in the absence of the others, you managed to change your outfit in Anakin's quarters, where you had left your more comfortable attire the day before. Along the way, you decided to bring R2 with you, who had been on guard duty. Once you had smoothed your hair and touched up your nose for the rest of the evening, you closed the door behind you and the droid. With brisk steps, you made your way along the corridor leading to the lifts. At a certain point, you noticed that the door to one of the guest quarters was ajar, and the dead silence in the hall allowed you to hear the conversation emanating from it. Intrigued by the sound, you stopped. Perhaps you wouldn't have done so if the feminine voice coming from the room didn't sound so dramatic, and perhaps you wouldn't have done so if the room for the night didn't belong to Padmé.
"Maybe you should at least try? If you don't try, you'll never know."
"But how? I can't just approach him and say, 'Hey, let's try again.'"
"But we both know you came here today just to talk to him."
"I know... But I was hoping he'd be the one to approach me first, but he didn't even look at me."
"You can't keep thinking this way forever..."
The eavesdropped conversation ended at this point, and you couldn't steady the trembling of your hands. The overheard words made your blood boil, and you prayed just to manage to keep that feeling inside because Padmé and her handmaiden, with whom she was conversing, were just coming out of the quarters. "Oh... Hello, it's been so long..." Padmé said with a slightly surprised expression when she saw you standing a few steps in front of the door from which she emerged. For a long time, you had the habit of bowing, greeting formally and respectfully when it came to politicians - but now, you didn't even blink. "Do you happen to know if Anakin is in..." "He's not there." you replied before Padmé could finish her question, to which the woman next to her reacted with a somewhat confused expression. "Oh, I see... Were you looking for him too?" she asked, aware that not everyone had the right to enter private quarters in the Temple. "I came to get R2." you replied with a stony face, beneath which a hint of pride could be discerned, a pride that only you could feel. "Oh." Padmé let out a short sigh, tinged with a hint of uncertainty, and being sure that this was all the senator needed from you, you moved ahead. "Uh, wait, please..." even though you would rather keep going, not wanting to build such a dramatic aura around you, you stopped and turned your head toward her. "Congratulations on your new title. I always knew you were capable." You paused for a moment, hearing those words, and forced a fake smile, looking at both women. "Sure. I mean... Thank you. And now, Senator, I apologize, but I have to go. They're waiting for me." Without waiting for 'permission,' you moved away, and Padmé just nodded, slightly embarrassed, and went with her handmaiden in the opposite direction. Walking, you replayed Amidala's words in your head. Nasty lies that you wouldn't even buy as a child, because you knew well that she never cared about your development under Anakin's wing. All that concerned her was his time spent with you, the energy she claimed you were "stealing from him," and the attention she expected but never reciprocated. Jealousy mixed with fear gnawed at you from the inside – you tried to be confident, tried to think about how Anakin ignored her – but you couldn't stop entertaining dark scenarios. What if he yielded? What if he gave her a chance? What if her plan was cleverer than yours? The one you were just putting the finishing touches on in your mind because, after all this, you have to prove who's playing the first violin here. Oh, you didn't even care how dangerous it was in terms of the Jedi Code at the moment; why should it concern you now? Are you supposed to give up and not sleep peacefully? No way. ..................................................................................................................
Your little 'after-party' helped you calm down significantly. When you entered the venue, Anakin sensed your conflicting emotions, but as you sat next to each other, unnoticed by others, he subtly ran his finger along your thigh, signaling that everything was okay and you shouldn't stress. Of course, he didn't know the exact reasons for your mood, but he felt enough to help comfort you. The reception went in a truly festive atmosphere—there were 'uncle' jokes from Obi-Wan, who, after a few deep glasses, had everyone in tears of laughter, and toasts in honor of you and your master, which you lost count of after a few hours. Everyone was getting themselves together and extending their stay, led by Kenobi, whom Rex was helping to stand on two legs. However, you and Anakin decided to slip away to the temple quarters. "But promise me it's nothing scary!" you said, laughing, as you ran after Anakin to his apartment. "I promise, I promise!" Anakin replied, amused by your suspicion. Your hasty escape from the party was initiated by Anakin—he told you he had a gift for you and had been waiting for this day specifically. Throughout the journey to the temple, you kept bombarding Skywalker with questions to which he didn't want to answer because, after all, it was a surprise. "Ugh! Can you at least tell me where we're going?" you asked impatiently and breathlessly, trying to keep up with Anakin's brisk pace. "To my quarters!" he replied, winking at you. "Really? I was there before the reception, and I saw nothing..." "That means the hideout was a success." Anakin replied, maliciously picking up the pace. "Damn it!" you muttered, running after your master and catching your breath every now and then. When you reached the door and the squealing R2-D2, who was also experiencing a pace crisis today, Anakin quickly opened the door, and everyone enthusiastically stepped inside. "Okay, now just stand here and turn around... Unless I blindfold you with something." Anakin said, pointing towards the corner by the door where you were supposed to stand facing away. "Okay, I'd rather just turn around. Let's save that for another occasion." you said with a cheeky smile, which Skywalker reciprocated, and you did as he instructed, turning around and putting your hands behind your back. Anakin stepped back, ensuring that you weren't peeking. Satisfied that you were obedient, he approached one of the hidden compartments in his apartment. You heard behind you the sound of... metal? and heavy, lowering doors, but you patiently waited for the signal to turn around. "Ready?" Anakin asked, his voice filled with excitement. "Like never before." you smiled widely but still kept your eyes on the wall in front of you. "So?" Instead of giving a command, Anakin came over to you. With a gentle move, he grabbed your arms, maneuvering your body so you could turn around and see what he had prepared for you. "Congratulations, Jedi Knight." he whispered tenderly into your ear, and your eyes widened at the sight of the gift. "Is this... QT-KT?" you put your hand over your mouth, unable to believe what you were seeing. "In the flesh." Anakin replied, joyfully watching your reaction. "What did you..." you started, approaching the droid, which was slowly activating. "I tinkered with it a bit, gave it some attention, polished it a bit... Well, and I reprogrammed it just for you." Skywalker answered before you could finish your question. "Are you telling me you did this... for me? Am I to understand that this is my droid?" you asked, looking at your master with immense surprise and affection. "Yes, indeed. I've been planning it for some time and decided that today would be the right day to give you this little surprise." he replied, joyfully watching you test the functions of your new droid. Finally, you stood up from a kneeling position, and still in disbelief, you took a few steps toward the large window in the room.
"Anakin... I... I don't know what to say..." you held your head, turning to Skywalker with a broad smile. Without saying anything, Anakin came over to you and, turning you towards him, embraced you around the waist, and at that moment, your foreheads touched. "I really don't know how to thank you." you whispered, looking into his eyes, and Anakin hugged you very tightly—due to your height difference—almost lifting you off the floor. "Just... Be here... With me." hearing those words, not knowing why, you pulled away from Anakin's arm to look him in the eyes. "Do you mean... Today?" you asked, wanting to dispel your doubts. "Today..." he left a single kiss on your lips. "Tomorrow..." he kissed your lips twice. "Always." he concluded, pressing his lips to yours in a overwhelming, long kiss. Your heart pounded like a hammer hearing those words... Or rather, THAT word... Your embrace was still very strong, but suddenly you looked aside, through the glass where until now you could mostly see the beautiful, night sky of Coruscant, illuminated by many stars. Without saying anything more, you gently released yourself from Skywalker's embrace and stood by the window, collecting your scattered thoughts. Anakin's words not only ignited you from the inside, not only melted your heart, but also indicated that the time had come. The time to execute your plan. "Can I...?" turning your head to Anakin, you pointed to the open entrance to the terrace. "Sure." Skywalker smiled, gesturing as if to say 'make yourself at home.' Returning his expression, you went to the terrace, and although for the first few moments, you looked around at the starry sky, your goal was entirely different—and you had it in the palm of your hand. Anakin was still inside, clicking something with your new droid when you had a moment to look around on your own. It didn't take much for your muscles to tense with determination—your eyes landed on the guest terrace, which for the night was at Padmé's disposal, and it was none other than Amidala standing outside, leaning against the railing, watching the movements of night Coruscant. She didn't see you. Not yet. But your plan was clear and straightforward—she had to see you, and you had to act. Now or never.
"In moments like these, I truly appreciate this place... It can be genuinely beautiful here. Despite the war... the fear..." you began speaking slowly, trying to capture Anakin's attention as his slow steps approached you. He walked with his hands casually folded behind his back, a smile on his face, and you heightened your senses. You were waiting for the moment when you'd feel the gaze on you—this time not Anakin's but from the nearly adjacent terrace. Your ability to sense glances was always highly developed—you excelled in it even more than Anakin himself, so at least in this regard, you sometimes managed to protect him on the battlefield. Now, you felt somewhat like you were on a battlefield, waiting for the right moment to use it and do it in the best possible style. But to gain it, you needed to first capture attention. "Today is exceptionally beautiful here." Anakin said, gently embracing you from behind. "Because you're here." You grabbed his hands, which were tenderly spread over your stomach, and your eyes almost sparkled from the heard words. Suddenly, you decided to turn face to face with Skywalker and placed your hands on his neck. "I'll be by your side..." you whispered, watching his eyes scan every inch of your face. "As long as you want." you finished, being so close to him that you could feel his every breath on your lips. This moment was so priceless for you that you momentarily forgot about your plan, but when it returned to your mind, you once again heightened your senses. Touching Anakin's face and looking into his hungry-for-kisses eyes, you began to take small steps backward, as if you were about to lean against the fountain wall in the middle of the terrace. However, none of your movements were without purpose. Already almost leaning against the stone wall, you initiated stumbling over the flat platform separating the fountain from the rest of the space. Hitting the surface with your heel, you produced a dull sound that, you were sure, reached not only the ears of the two of you. You didn't have to lower your eyes from Anakin to know. To feel that HER gaze landed at the source. That she's already onto you. "Kiss me." you whispered to Anakin, when he, taking advantage of the new position, leaned you against the fountain wall and threw himself onto your lips in a passionate kiss. Padmé froze, not believing the sight before her eyes. Not believing that her mission failed so miserably. She watched. She watched as her ex-husband kissed you with a passion he might never have given her. She watched as you touched him as if he were yours, and he touched you as if you were his. When she almost ran inside, you smiled in the ongoing kiss, knowing that your intrigue had succeeded. You touched him as if he were yours. He touched you as if you were his. Because you were his. And he was yours.

Clone wars headcanons about Anakin and Ahsoka being siblings
When Anakin pisses Ahsoka off she’ll hunt Obi-Wan down and say something along the lines of “I’m gonna kill your son” the first time this happened it shocked Obi-Wan into silence but it didn’t take long for him to put 2 and 2 together
Not long after Anakin starts copying Ashoka’s little comment but his are more creative so it’s something along the lines of “Imma throw your daughter out the airlock” he mostly does this because it pisses Ahsoka off when he mimics her but it’s also weirdly therapeutic
Poor Obi-Wan has to deal with both of them ranting at him so it’s pretty common for him to hear the same story twice in one day
On a couple of rare occasions one of the two enters his room to complain just to find the other doing the same thing which usually results in a new fight because “how dare you come in here to do the same thing I’m doing”
Those fights usually end with Obi-Wan kicking them out to handle their shit he’s usually willing to hear out both of their sides and problem solve but not when they’re fighting just to fight (which happens sometimes)
Anakin formed this little tik that makes him laugh and confuses the general public and that tik is whenever someone close to him asks him to do something he’ll say no and do it anyway
He only really does this with Rex and Ahsoka (more so Ahsoka) he respects the rest of them too much at first the duo was confused by it but after a while they just took it as a yes and moved on with it
It usually looked something like this “General your padawan is being stubborn please go check on her” “No” and then Rex would nod or give a small thanks and then move on
Or “Hey skyguy can we please get ice cream when we’re done with this mission” “No” “Thanks master!!”
The first time Obi-Wan saw this happen he was flabbergasted and called Anakin rude which made the duo take a step back because they were so used to it
Ahoksa spoke up first asking “What do you mean master?” and when Obi-Wan clarified that rejecting her so abruptly could rightfully be seen as rude the duo shot him confused looks
Anakin tries to clear it up by saying “What are you talking about I said we could get some” and when Obi-Wan again points out that he told her no Anakin responds with something that makes Obi-Wan want to tear his hair out “but she knows I’m saying yes don’t you snips” to which Ashoka agrees
Obi-Wan walked away muttering about padawans giving him gray hairs and putting him in an early grave
Ahsoka doesn’t know when she started keeping a mental list of the most embarrassing things the boys have done but it becomes a great source of entertainment for her
Sometimes when Anakin is getting a little too cocky with Padme she’ll say “Hey master remember when you” and the next thing she knows she’s there’s a hand over her mouth and she’s being dragged away
Sometimes when Rex is taunting her a little too much about how “you almost beat me that time squirt maybe the next time or the next or the next” she’ll respond with “do you think the boys wanna know about that time we were walking to the speeder and” and he shuts up fast as hell
She’s never had to do this to Obi-Wan but Anakin asked her if she remembers any of his embarrassing moments and all she does is nod the 212 swears they’ve never seen their general go as pale as he did that day
On the rare occasions that Anakin or Ahsoka want to watch something different than the other it usually results in a lot of bickering a lot of “I’m your master and you will listen to me” and “that doesn’t apply here” thrown out
But Anakin’s favorite thing to throw in Ahsoka’s face is “I was here first” even if he wasn’t and when she points that out he’ll respond with “I meant alive first”
Sometimes Ahsoka will respond with “I was here first” which results in two paths 1. Being her reminding him she was at the temple before him or 2. Her saying she was born first
The first response usually ends her in a headlock and the second gets a response that people can hear from outside the temple and that’s Anakin yelling at the top of his lungs “That makes no kriffing sense!!”
This is me projecting a little bit but I think Ahsoka swears like a damn sailor it’s bad enough to catch Anakin off guard and he’s barely better than her bro can and will curse in multiple languages but force forbid Ahsoka says kriff
She’s startled a few “language!” Or “hey”s out of him which shocks both of them more than it should Ahsoka is more startled by the hypocrisy and Anakin is startled because “Oh kriff I’m turning into Obi-Wan”
The funny thing is a lot of people including Obi-Wan blame Anakin for her cussing problem and a few masters even suggest some less than-up-to-code options to fix the problem which causes Anakin to become a little protective
On nights when Anakin and Ahsoka can’t sleep and sitting in the temple feels like a death sentence they silently go to Anakin’s favorite speeder and just drive
Sometimes they have somewhere specific in mind but most of the time they drive with no destination in mind sometimes they pick up Rex or Obi-Wan but most nights it’s just the two of them
Sometimes they talk about life and sometimes they sit in complete silence just enjoying each other's company and the shitty music on the radio
The only consistent thing about these trips is they don't go back until both of their eyes are drooping and Anakin can’t safely drive anymore
They never talk about these little excursions unless they’re already on one honestly they don’t even have to ask most times they’ll just walk into each other's rooms share a look and then walk out
And there's something weirdly comforting about that routine

I’m on a Star Wars books roll so here we go with my — unhinged thanks for asking! — thoughts on Dooku: Jedi Lost, specifically the audio play. Short version: I fucking loved this one! For maximum emotional devastation, pair with Master and Apprentice and Padawan the way my stupid ass did and then be sad about it forever I guess that's what I’m going to have to do.
 Long (LONG oopsie) version:
- So. First of all, let’s get the most important thing out of the way on this here old man yaoi website. We all agree dooku and sifo dyas explored each other’s bodies right. Or at least definitely would have if not for the laws of this order etc., potentially. That’s not just me. Good. Thank you. We can now move on
- Secondly. Well. Guess I’m just going to be inconsolable about Sifo-Dyas forever now. I miss the days in which he was just a throwaway line in AotC spawned by a random misspelling to me, rather than an eternal raw aching wound in my heart
- poor poor ventress just reading through all the proof that dooku absolutely does have it in him to be a good dad I mean master and just — idk got tired of that and went the force lightning route with her. I love the move of having her dead master hang out with her all that time as well (having her slip up and refer to ‘us’ did something to me, god this is so sad. Is he actually there in spirit or is it just her grief dreaming him up because dooku is awful and cold as a cliff  wall and she needs some kind of attachment figure even if she’ll have to reinvent him herself, rebuild him word for word, gesture by gesture. Pain. sorry about your terrible track record with father figures asajj)
- Lene: (About Averross): He hasn’t changed.
Dooku: (In the warmest fondest voice you ever heard) And I hope he never does
WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WITH MYSELF? MUST I SET MYSELF ON FIRE TO ESCAPE THE PAIN???
Another strong showing for Rael in general, btw. He’s so warm and charming as a presence even though he’s also a little chaos gremlin. (He’s quite similar to how Sifo-Dyas was when he was young in some ways, I can definitely start to see what Dooku responds warmly to in terms of character traits.)
- the fact that good ol’ sheev showed an interest in rael, dooku and anakin… interesting huh! He’s just got a soft spot for the disaster lineage I suppose, maybe there’s an element there of luring yoda’s most direct lineage into the dirt with him without yoda even noticing for the longest time. Also cackling at the idea that he looked at qui-gon ‘too fucking stubborn and insufferable to fall to the dark side out of sheer spite’ jinn and went ‘...not that one tho’ fhdskjfa. And obi-wan is more like ‘that one blorbo all my little guys seem wild about but I just don’t get it guys’
IF rael’s refusal to join dooku at the end of ‘master and apprentice’ is the last word (which I am not convinced of ;___; be safe cowboy jedi we never see in mainline canon so far), then he’s the only one who has dodged palpatine’s attentions. Wonderful if true love that for him
ALSO rael is one of the few people we know to be on (or at least to consider himself on despite what palps might think lol) first name basis with palpatine. Hilarious. I concur with dooku never change rael
- Sifo-Dyas: That’s insane.
Dooku, deadpan: Yes.
Sifo-Dyas: The worst plan I’ve ever heard.
Dooku, somehow even more deadpan: Most probably.
Sifo-Dyas: I’m in.
Crying… weeping and dying………… what if someone could have helped sifo with his unfortunate prophecy propensity and they hadn’t drifted apart. Clone Wars averted methinks if dooku still ended up leaving the order he would have been too busy having tender gay sex with the love of his life (and only person who can call him out on his shit and have him actually listen) to be a war criminal (I am being extremely facetious of course this is very much a ‘time traveler killing baby hitler’ situation where the underlying forces causing this point in history are way too powerful to avert the catastrophe in one move. but at least palps would probably have had to pick someone else to wreck the galaxy through and sifo-dyas would be kissed & held instead of going slowly mad. A net plus some (I, me) would say)
- I just wanted to applaud both the writing and the voice acting for the characterization of Dooku in this, from his young self trying so hard to be haughty and self-possessed but also being like, y’know, twelve and a dweeb and easy for Sifo-Dyas to pull into trouble, to the dry wit and warmth he shows with Rael and Qui-Gon or his sister later. It took me a little while to get into the voice acting specifically (the actor makes no attempt at going the full Christopher Lee, which in hindsight was probably wise), but now I love it. It gets a bit goofy in places but you know what, I am a long time lover of audio plays, that’s part of the charm
- “Master, have I done something wrong?”
My heart is clenching… do you think… that master yoda’s deal with leaving his student to try fucking everything to have some kind of relationship with him until he just breaks down in tears of despair… is the kind of thing that maybe started a little bit of a generational trauma cartwheel through the ages. The point that bb!dooku is arrogant isn’t without merit and he strikes out incredibly ungracefully about it (in fact I would be a lot more worried than yoda seems to be that he decides to try to kill a tree about it, ‘I felt like destroying something beautiful’-style)  but I just don’t think a… fourteen year old? A teen anyway, Is going to learn what you think he learns from this. I simply don’t believe that silent treatmenting kids will teach them emotional intelligence I guess especially if they already struggle with that naturally lol
(It is exactly the same mistake (in my opinion) that Qui-Gon makes with Obi-Wan, too, just leaving the kid completely alone and forcing them to come to you every which way for comfort or guidance instead of meeting them or reaching out to them. Especially once you see that really Dooku’s prime emotion/big core wound right from the beginning is loneliness. And that doesn’t only come from a feeling of superiority (which to be sure is also a big factor), because he has no idea where he comes from until he meets his sister. I don’t think the jedi as a whole were unsalvageable by any stretch of the imagination, but Yoda specifically… you are on such very thin ice with me at this point you little green fuck. You’re very funny and moving in yoda dark rendezvous and that’s all that’s keeping you in my somewhat good graces.)
- Okay, coming back a bit later I think I’ve found the right words to say this. more precisely dooku has two big issues which you can later see haunting all the way down his lineage — loneliness and control. (and not incidentally the intersecting elements of the two haha.) We see from his relationship to sifo-dyas that he’s not incapable of having close mutual relationships with an equal, but that kind of crashed and burned for reasons neither of them could really help and after that it seems quite telling that he has the easiest time with deeper connection in a teacher-student sort of form. I think his affection is unconditional and real, but you can’t get away from the fact that he also has the most control in that relationship structure by default, he gets to dictate what form it takes to a big extent. He doesn’t trust other people — the underlying idea ‘Only I can do this’ that eventually leads him down the Separatist path is there the whole way. It speaks both to a sense of superiority and an utter lack of faith that other people can or will help him. And then that echoes down through the master-padawan line:
Qui-Gon with his self-righteousness and utter refusal to compromise leaving him isolated among the jedi (only he is right. Yeah the Force told him so. Don’t worry I’ve got a permit *insert parks and rec I can do whatever I want meme here*), Obi-Wan with his anxiety and perfectionism and incredible sense of shame and responsibility that he should be able to carry the whole world on his shoulders alone and beating himself up for failing, all feeding into not knowing what to do with Anakin and his complete lack of control of himself and his desperation to gain and maintain connection and love (which earns him the title of ‘Dooku’s least favorite family member’ fhdsa his immediate disdain for him is so funny and so in character. Repress and go slowly mad like a normal person anakin the way you’re carrying on is just undignified and that is much worse than being evil)…
- Rael gently telling Dooku to take on another padawan soon… so sweet, so sad, local cowboy jedi looking out for his dad. Also highlights something about Dooku I think is true: that he does much better and seems to have an easier time holding to the light when he’s responsible for someone else. Again, I do feel like Dooku’s core problem is loneliness, but it seems like raising kids is the one point where that relaxes somewhat. Maybe if Sifo-Dyas had stayed in a better mental place and they kept in touch it could have been different.
- Lene Kostana is SUCH a character! Charismatic and deeply fucked up, when it’s revealed how her and Sifo-Dyas’ relationship remains long after his padawan stage is done I felt a little bit sick, to my surprise. Because that could just be kindness on her part, of course, it’s good that he has someone he trusts to look after him when he can’t himself, but also there’s something… queasy about the way it keeps him continually young, in a way. (Notably he still calls her ‘master’ even as an adult, when they’re working together. Not uncommon in Star Wars, of course, but together with everything else going on vibes-wise… hm.) The inherent unreliable narration of this story really worked for me in this regard especially — do we know that young Dooku was entirely wrong when he sensed the dark side in her? She certainly is willing to go to lengths that are… worrying! in her fascination with sith shit, she tempted children into a dangerous place they didn’t understand and couldn’t know the consequences of and she continually puts sifo-dyas in situations that are implied to be a risk to worsening his condition. Run of the mill incredibly irresponsible at best, sincerely sinister at worst. Did she choose Sifo over Dooku because he’s more vulnerable and shapeable? There is an undercurrent of something icky and emotionally incest-y going on with how she relates to Dooku and Sifo-Dyas in general (right down to the ‘NO, no one can know about this’ intensity after the… evil moss cave. I can’t believe I’m this emotional about a book with an evil moss cave). I don’t think she’s a proper sith in any way and I also believe there is real affection there on all sides, but idk something about the whole thing makes me deeply uneasy. Yoda where the fuck are you your son is out there with his irresponsible mom again they’re looking for dirty needles in haystacks and they’re not even wearing any gloves
- dooku telling sifo-dyas he can come back to haunt him if he likes as a joke… well well well I’m sure that doesn’t ring with some dramatic irony at some point down the line lmao
- honestly looking back at master and apprentice after reading jedi lost makes qui-gon's apparent lack of reaction to dooku leaving seem — let's call it highly suspect haha. rael asks him if he's spoken to dooku after and qui-gon is like 'no. why would I. it's literally fine. anyway this topic is done now'. (and rael seems to just go ‘*older brotherly knowing* uh-huh’) meanwhile he's thinking about dooku *all the time* trying to figure out his role as master to obi-wan, thinking about being a padawan himself, the parts of his life he shared with both dooku and rael. The jedi doth protest too much methinks
ALSO how much of qui-gon thinking the council was too lenient with rael after he had to kill his padawan is about that actual situation, and how much is a ‘our family still likes my older brother more than me even though he Fucked Up so bad and breaks just as many rules as I do’ sort of deal mixed with his own neuroses about how he’s failing obi-wan (to which rael’s situation symbolizes the worst possible outcome, i.e. the kid dies and it’s basically your fault). Many thoughts.
- moment of silence for jenza of house serenno. Girl your only sin was being surrounded by asshole male family members and I’m so sorry I think you did all you could with what you had to work with here.
Not… entirely sure how dooku’s claim to the title supersedes hers — is he a year older than her? (she’s eleven when they first meet, he might be twelve or older at that point I don’t remember haha) Does she just give up her place in the inheritance order? Are primogeniture and male heir preference factors in Serenno inheritance law? Not the most important thing honestly it works anyway thematically but could have been clarified quickly!
- interesting to see that the council’s restrictive policy against engaging with prophecies had a surprisingly big impact on how things went down. Kostana has a lot of responsibility in Sifo’s fate for insisting he keep it secret, but there is genuine fear for what might become of him if the rest of the order finds out he’s got 24/7 futurevision hovering over him threateningly… listen it’s not like the poor guy can help getting the future constantly pumped into his brain at nightmare resolutions, I think maybe if there had been more willingness to at least engage curiously with the concept of prophecy and how it works, even if you don’t put your faith in the particulars of what the prophecies say, this wouldn’t have had to be such a shitty isolated secretive life for him. hearing him slowly fall apart over the years considering how bright and lovely he started out... oof is all I can say
- when dooku was a good jedi he was such a good jedi!!! The scene where they’re saving the kids from the collapsing hospital, every time he teaches his students anything…the impulse of someone has to do something about this! that made him so good at saving lives turning dark with the tarnish of frustration and rage over the years… nooooooooo problematic grandpa why did it have to be like this :(
- …do you think infant jedi can sense what’s going on around them in the Force. Because it makes a very sad kind of sense if dooku on some level remembers bodily or in the Force that he was not only abandoned but rejected in disgust as one of the first things he discovered in the world. Oh boy. With all the ways attachment relationships can go wonky in the first few years in real life I don’t even want to consider how much more wrong it can go when the baby is fucking psychic lol
- vaguely related: the way dooku seems to find the very idea of being truly reliant on anyone, emotionally or otherwise, personally offensive, terrifying and humiliating lol. Yoda saves him from being crushed by rubble and he is outraged because that means he can’t save himself (and his newfound sister) without anyone’s help like he thought for one glorious moment he could. The fantasy of perfect emotional self-sufficiency, doing away with all the messiness and risk of interpersonal relationships and cutting off the possibility of really being abandoned again. It’ll get ya every time. This is also a thing you see reflected in his lineage — they’re all quite inward-turning that way until you get to anakin, to different extents and with varying presentations but it is there I think. Qui-Gon turns to the Force, Obi-Wan to perfectionism and shame and rumination, Rael to the bottle and depression and hedonistic apathy, but they all struggle hugely with letting anyone in to help them. Dooku’s line are all much more comfortable being the helpers rather than the helpees, as it were.
- “Thank you for everything, Lene. Tell Rael and Qui-Gon — tell them… tell them the Force will be with them, always”
Emotional terrorism against me specifically and personally. You asshole you just excused yourself from the non-attachment rules there’s literally nothing in the world except you to stop you from reaching out and telling your children you love them yOURSELF why are you like this
- the recurring theme of dooku seeing something beautiful (the tree in the temple, the tirra’taka as a child and an adult) and ending up lashing out to destroy it… but the tree was old and mighty and he was young and new and couldn’t truly harm it, so he was saved from his own impulsivity. And then when he sees the tirra’taka as an adult he loves it immediately. And in the end he still mangles and destroys it. He didn’t mean to, but he did. He woke it up and hurt it just by existing as a child and then he had to kill it as a mercy because he was too powerful at that point for anything to buffer his mistakes. The parallel with the bird he loved that he also couldn’t protect. He starts out with an aching loneliness somewhere at the core of him through no real fault of his own but by the end it is entirely his own fault that it’s worse, because he starts wrecking everything he loves in an almost absent-minded but definitely intentional way, like it’s a nightmare he’s listening to through the door as it happens in the next room over. He really IS the ‘I just felt like destroying something beautiful’ central of the jedi.
at the end qui-gon is dead and through dooku’s own influence, however indirectly. Rael has had to turn away from him. Sifo-Dyas is dead on Dooku’s own orders and so is his sister, he might as well have done it with his own hands. (though I think it’s very interesting that in each case he didn’t do it with his own hands, he consistently uses a middleman.) He lives within the coldness of his sterile empty castle and horrifically mistreats the one person he might have found something like connection with the way he did with his students before (Ventress), deliberately trapping her in a similar state of utter desolate isolation and telling her, essentially, ‘We’re like this as people and nothing can be done to change it. We can’t escape, we’re already doomed, stop trying, it’s too late. You are just like me (and if you aren't already I'll make you like me)’. And that’s the closest thing he gets to love anymore. When he accused Ky of using her ‘as a salve for his own loneliness’ and you’re like well well well mr projection man how’s that working out for you. He is completely, shatteringly alone and he is so entirely as a consequence of his own actions and he's too far gone to understand or care. I’m howling you useless fucking FOOL dooku
- dooku 🤝 john gaius
“Hm. I have observed that there are in fact many flaws in our society and the government is deeply corrupt. So if I kill a few billion people here and there in order to fix it, is that not basically okay when you really think about it”
Dooku making salient points about the political and ethical failures of the Republic and then, just when you think he’s onto something, he goes and makes The wildest fucking decisions about what to do about it. Sure. dark magic and genocide are probably the only ways out of this you’re so right bro. If we make enough minuses to add together surely we’ll end up in plus sooner or later
- *head in my hands once more* I can’t believe I am genuinely emotionally invested in someone called Count Dooku with the looks of a knockoff dracula and ultimate moral character to match right now this is terrible. hey. hey dooks. what you have to go and fuck everything up so bad for huh I’m so incredibly sad now
there is something to be said about how getting to see glimpses of what dooku looked like in the light makes it so much more heartwrenching that he never came back. he could have, a thousand times. and every time he chose not to.

— Chapter Seven: Result of Anaxes
Bedtime Story Masterlist | Main Masterlist
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter
“Echo, what happened to them? Are they alright?” Omega’s still wide awake, with no sign of tiredness in her body, “Continue pleeeeease! I need to know!”
Echo sighed and looked at the time - way past her bedtime. She didn’t look like she was going to sleep soon anyway, so might as well just continue, “Fine. Don’t tell Hunter.”
“Yes!” She happily exclaimed, “Our secret.” She placed a finger over her lips, making a shushing sound.
“You wanted to match with me, did ya?” Echo’s voice came from beside you as your eyes opened, a phantom pain shooting up your left forearm.
You blinked at the bright light in your eyes, “What happened? Where’s Trench?” Your eyes scanned toward your body, noticing your missing hand, “Shit, Master Windu’s gonna kill me!”
“Hey, hey, calm down, you’re alright. You were only out for a few minutes.” Anakin knelt beside you, “Just relax.”
“Relax?” You sarcastically said, “My hand is gone, I’m probably going to be expelled from the Order, and you’re telling me to just relax?”
“You are not going to be expelled from the Order, I’ll make sure of it,” Anakin reassured you, “Try to clear your mind - everything will be okay.”
You sat up and placed your feet on the ground, standing from the makeshift medical table and making your way to the cockpit.
“I have a present for you, Wrecker.” Anakin said from beside you, handing the detonator from Trench’s ship to the mentioned clone.
Wrecker’s eyes widened and started tearing up, speaking a few words of gratitude before pressing down on the button. You were grateful to not miss this - the rainbow that ensued was beautiful.
“How’re you feeling, Commander?” A concerned Hunter asked, “Should you even be standing?”
“I’m fine.”
Hunter nodded, not taking his eyes off of you, “If you say so.”
Anakin leaned down to whisper something in your ear, “He really cares about you.”
You were surprised to be hearing those words from a council member, the poster boy of the Republic nonetheless. He didn’t speak with malice, but with understanding.
You mumbled an acknowledgement before sitting in an unoccupied seat, watching the planet of Anaxes come into view. You dreaded the moment you’d land and have to speak to your Master.
You were ushered out of the ship and in front of your Master the moment you landed. You winced at the sight of Mace, though he didn’t seem mad - just concerned. Masters Kenobi and Windu spoke to the clones regarding their incoming accolades before turning their attention toward you.
“My Padawan,” Master Windu started, “What you did was careless and not thought out. Your recklessness has landed you injured. Again.”
You prepared yourself for his next words, expecting to be expelled from the Jedi Order.
”You were reckless, yes, but also courageous. You ensured a Republic victory here on Anaxes, not to mention you also saved my life. I am proud to have been your master, though only for a short period of time.”
Here it comes…
”When we return to Coruscant and you’re healthy, you will undergo your remaining Trial of Insight. I have full faith that you will succeed, as you have done nothing but exceed our expectations as a Padawan.”
“I’m sorry, I don’t understand? I thought I was to be expelled from the Order.”
Master Windu called over the 501st medic, Kix, “You have passed your trials of skill, courage, spirit, and now flesh,” He motioned for you to sit on the medic’s portable examination table, “Your training has come to an end. You have the necessary skills to succeed as a Jedi Knight.”
You sat on the table and looked to your Master, “There’s still so much to learn, Master.”
“You will always be learning, Padawan. It’s the way of life.” Obi-Wan said to your now seated form, “I look forward to the next time we meet.”
You nodded, “Thank you, Master Kenobi.”
Anakin walked over to you, “Not to say ‘I told you so’, but…”
“Congratulations Commander. Once you’re a General, come back to us.” Hunter’s voice called as Kix hovered the table to a more sterile environment, “We miss you.”
“Now that Echo’s with you, I might have to!” You joked, waving with your remaining hand. You didn’t know when you’d see them again, but you’d be waiting for the day - regardless of how long it may take.

Qui-gon spent all morning looking for you, and when he finally found you in the archives, your nose buried in a book, he sat in front of you, pulling the book away as he locked eyes with you.
“I didn’t do it, I swear Master. It was already broken.”
“No, that’s not … wait, what was already broken?” Qui-gon furrowed his eyebrows.
“Whatever was broken before I touched it … Master Qui-gon!” I realized who it was once I actually focused on his face. “Master, you’re back! I heard you were helping out Mandalore!”
Qui-gon simply chuckled as he shook his head, “Yes, my dear. You’re right, but…”
“How was it? Tell me everything? Are Mandalorians really as strong as they say? I heard that they have jet packs, live in their armour all the time, and they even sleep in it. Is that true? Did you get to try one?”
“Padawan!”
You clammed up, he’d only shout padawan when you were in trouble.
“Please, listen.”
“Sorry, Master”
He let out a sigh, slowly his smile etched back on his face, “You’re always a special one, my dear.”
You shrugged, “It’s called being young.”
“Don’t get too comfortable, age has a way of creeping up on you. Today, you’re 19, tomorrow you’re nearing 50.”
“Well that’s a bright and cheery thought. How can I help you, Master Qui-gon?”
“It’s Obi-wan.”
Your smile faltered as you thought about your best friend, “Is he okay?
“No. He had his first lesson in heartbreak.”
For a reason you would rather choose to ignore, there was a pain in your heart, as it wrapped around and squeezed tight. You took in a sharp breath, “I’m sorry to hear that.” Your voice sounded flat even to you.
“As his oldest friend, I am hoping you can be a shoulder to cry for him, as he will not talk to me.”
You rubbed your forehead nodding, “Alright, Master Qui-gon, where is he?”
“Where else, but the reflecting pool.”
“But, of course.” You smiled and stood heading towards the reflecting pool. It wasn’t the first time Obi-wan hid himself in the reflecting pool. It usually happened when something significant affected his life, or when he got in trouble after he rebelled. You smiled as you found him underneath his favourite tree, his eyes closed as he meditated.
You gently lowered yourself, fluttering your robe out behind you, as you sat beside him.
Silence filled the space between you two as you simply stared ahead, watching the ripples in the pool.
“You really not going to say anything?” Obi finally uttered.
“You wanna talk about it?”
“No.”
“Then why should I say anything?”
He let out a sigh, as he opened his eyes, “It’s not fair!”
“No, it’s not.”
“She could’ve asked me to stay.”
You nodded in agreement.
“I should’ve offered to stay.”
“That was another path you could’ve taken.”
“Why didn’t she say anything!”
You turned to look at him, locking eyes with you, “Why didn’t you say anything?”
He groaned as he flopped back against the grass beneath the both of you.
“Come on, you can answer it. Why did you say anything?” You shifted lying beside him as you looked up at the overgrowth from the tree.
“Because I didn’t want to walk away from the Jedi.”
“So … why do you think she didn’t say anything?”
“Probably because she knew I wouldn’t have been able to make the decision”
You nodded in agreement, “Yup, she probably did.” You let out a sigh as you stretched, placing your hands underneath your head, this wasn’t a conversation you really wanted to have with him. You didn’t want to know about him falling in love with someone else. You didn’t want to be the one that had to sit here and help his broken heart, knowing he’d never look at you the same way.
“Obi, falling in love is not horrendous,” you shifted your head so you could look at him, “Having emotions isn’t the worst thing to happen. Just know that you’ll be able to help your own padawan someday when they’re head over heels in love.”
“I don’t know about that.”
“I do. You have an exceptional mind, and when you’re not being a rebellious idiot, you’re quite mature. Take this time to heal from the pain, knowing I’ll be here to help.” You shifted sitting up as you turned to glance at him, “Any time you wanna talk about her, I’ll be here to listen. Okay?”
There was a soft smile on his face as he sat up too, looking at you, “Thanks, my dear,” he pressed a kiss to your cheek, “for being there for me.”
“You’re welcome. Now do you wanna mope some more or …” you smiled, with mischief glinting in your eyes.
“Or?”
“Or do you wanna sneak out of the temple for old times sake, hit Dex’s Diner, and then hop the transport ships heading down to the lower levels? See how many jumps we can do from one transport to the next without having to stop for more than five minutes?”
“You’re on.”
You chuckled as you stood heading towards the lower level entrance that no one ever used. Even though it’s not what you would’ve hoped for, any time you got to spend with Obi-wan was a lot better than spending time by yourself in the Archives.

I have the house to myself this weekend which means I get to have musicals on in the background (I am the only one in my family who appreciates this art form) and this morning I've had The Sound of Music running and...I'm having thoughts. Fascism thoughts.
Anakin is nearing the age (early 20s) when he should be taking the Trials and he *says* he's sure he wants to continue on the Jedi path (his mom sure always really wanted him to! He doesn't want to disappoint his Master!) but he's always been a little unorthodox, a little different, and Yoda and Mace and the Council and even Qui-Gon try to (gently) tell him that it's okay if he wants to or needs to take a different path and this life isn't for everyone and there's no shame in it; there's lots of ways to serve the light.
Obi-Wan meanwhile (Force sensitive but his parents said no thank you when the Order came calling when he was a kid?) is fairly recently widowed with seven (or maybe not seven, but some number of) children who he doesn't see all that much because he's...not *the* leader of Stewjon but definitely a higher-up in their government (maybe like a House of Lords/ruling council sort of situation?). And he - like the Republic - sees the writing on the wall about the encroaching threat of the Empire and the members of the Republic who are against this idea (Padmé, Bail, etc) are very interested in keeping Obi-Wan on their side - he's maybe trying to convince the rest of his government to join the Republic? and if they do have to go to war Obi-Wan is one of the few with actual military experience (I'm picturing some sort of Admiral Yularen/Republic Navy-ish) - so when Obi-Wan asks the Order to send a Jedi as a governess for his kids (some - or all? - of them are Force sensitive too, but Obi-Wan and his wife kept them home as kids rather than sending them to Coruscant), even though the answer would *usually* be no (you can't have it both ways Obi-Wan; there are no part-time Jedi) the Republic basically begs the Jedi Council to say yes.
They (reluctantly) agree that sending Anakin to Stewjon might be okay - they wouldn't send anyone else but he's on the fence anyway and this might give him some time to decide if he really wants to be a Jedi or if a home and a family might suit him better. Anakin has to be talked into it - "you're kicking me out??" "NO, Padawan Skywalker..." - but he goes. Of course he actually bonds really well with all the kids (I love Anakin with kids!) and his new boss is surprisingly hot, especially in his Stewjoni military uniform.
Obi-Wan got (quite quickly, after his wife died) engaged to the Duchess Satine of Mandalore, which both parties (and everyone in their respective governments) know is a political marriage but they do also genuinely like and respect each other, and enjoy debating politics with each other - if war breaks out, Satine is determined Mandalore will remain neutral, and Obi-Wan argues against, and that it's their moral obligation to fight - but whatever happens, Mandalore wants Stewjon on their side and vice versa. She's busy running her own system but comes for a visit, and meets Anakin, and picks up right away on the rampant UST between Obi-Wan and his new nanny. (She finds this hilarious.)
Obi-Wan throws a Mandalore/Stewjon unification-type ball at his house (mansion, palace, w/e) and Anakin has the kids show off the more impressive of the Force "tricks" he's taught them (floating rocks, etc). The kids tell Anakin that their dad can move things with the Force, too, and he used to all the time, but doesn't anymore. Anakin is intrigued by this new knowledge.
They get word from Coruscant that Palpatine did as threatened and has staged a coup (?? haven't really worked out the finer details yet) and despite Obi-Wan's best efforts Stewjon as a collective whole looks like it's going to fall on the side of the Empire. He's not the only one determined to fight but he's definitely the most vocal/highest-ranking of the dissenters and Satine warns him that he at least needs to get his family out of harm's way, and if he can get them to Mandalore she can protect them and they can join the Rebellion from there. (Form the Rebellion? This part is still a little muddy).
(Obi-Wan checks that this offer still stands even though he's breaking up with her. She's like a) I called that and b) "oh my god Obi-Wan I'm a pacifist not a monster. I'm not going to let your family *die* just because you're marrying Anakin instead of me, what do you take me for?")
Their escape plan - like in the movie - is to perform in some sort of National Stewjon Talent Show, except swap the Force for a cappella singing. The Jedi - let's say Palpatine hasn't gotten around to Order 66 in this AU - attend this Talent Show, and *obviously* it's a cover for getting Anakin and the Kenobis out (they have to have the same conversation - "you mean you'll still help me even if I'm getting married instead of becoming a Jedi Knight?" "yeah, we're not dicks, it's the right thing to do") but no one can actually call the Jedi out on it even though while they're blinking their eyes all innocently they totally have bolt cutters and stun guns hidden under their robes.
Also there's a subplot where Obi-Wan's oldest breaks up with her boyfriend because "I DON'T DATE STORMTROOPERS."
(Someday I will be able to watch a movie without having Obikin thoughts about it. But it is not this day!)

Grim and Obi-Wan remained quiet for a long time after entering hyperspace. Both of them were thinking over what had just happened on Mandalore, trying to process it all.
Grim was the first to speak. “You weren't meant to be there,” she said, quietly. “I'm sorry, I almost got you killed.”
He was never supposed to have fought Sidious. She had caused that to change, it was the only thing she had changed on that mission.
“You weren't supposed to be there either,” he replied. “I was supposed to go on my own to begin with.”
“You weren't supposed to go at all according to the Council,” she retorted. “But that's not what I'm talking about. Never once were you ever supposed to have fought Sidious, and I'm sorry that I caused that to change.”
“You shouldn't have been fighting Sidious either, and he implied that you have fought before.”
“Because we have,” she whispered. “I'm sorry Obi-Wan, I know I should have told you sooner. I was just afraid of what you would think. Are…are you mad at me?”
Obi-Wan turned to look at her. His expression was serious, but his eyes were gentle and kind. “I'm not mad, Padawan. But I am worried. Until now, nobody on the Council has ever fought Sidious, and you have fought him multiple times. The fact that you're still alive-”
“I'm only still alive because he wants me alive. I should be dead. I should have been killed a long time ago.”
“How long ago, Grim? When did you first fight him?”
She looked away, “I'm sorry, Master.”
“Grim…”
“You should be mad at me. Why aren't you? I wasn't able to save Satine, and I almost got you killed!”
“And you think that's your fault?” He asked. “I went to save Satine so if her death is your fault it falls on me as well. And you did not force me to fight Sidious, you didn't know I would follow you.”
She was quiet again. She focused her attention on the hyperspace through the viewport of the ship.
“You can't control what other people do,” he said. “I made a choice to save you from Sidious, and it almost killed me, but that isn't on you. I made a choice to go to Mandalore to save Satine, and I fell for Maul’s trap, despite you trying to warn me, that isn't on you.”
“That doesn't change the fact that you shouldn't have been there to fight Sidious, you should have already been escaping Mandalore.”
“Without you?” He asked.
“Yes, without me!” She snapped, looking back at him. “When was the last time I actually changed anything significant?”
“And what would have happened to you if I hadn't stepped in?” He asked.
“...Sidious would have captured me.”
“Would you have preferred that?”
“If it meant you never got hurt by him…”
“Do you think that I think so little of you that it wouldn't hurt me if you got captured?”
“That's not what I meant.”
“Little one, listen to me, you carry so much, but you shouldn't have to. And you don't have to face all of this on your own. I am certainly not your responsibility, nor is anyone else.”
“Who else can carry this if not me?”
“How many times do I have to tell you? The burdens you carry are not something anyone can face on their own. If you shared the weight-"
“No. I'm sorry, Master, but I just can't. What I know, and what I'm doing would put others in danger if I shared it.”
“I'm afraid we already are.”
“I don't want to hurt you.”
“You wouldn't.”
“You only think that because you don't know what I do.”
Obi-Wan sighed heavily, he recognized he couldn't get through to her. They've had this conversation far too many times. “Very well,” he said.
Silence fell between them again. Grim rested her head on Obi-Wan's shoulder. She closed her eyes and smiled. “Thank you for saving me, dad.”
He smiled. “Of course, little one.”

‘Tis fate diverts our course, and fate we must obey — Virgil
“Wow.”
Anakin leaned back in Obi-Wan’s former seat, supporting his head with hands nearly intertwined. You watched as the gears turned, his mouth loosely open and eyebrows tensed.
“And you’re…?”
“Yes.” You confirmed.
“And your master is…?”
“Yup.”
“And your eyes are…?”
“Uh-huh.”
“Because…?”
“Yes sir.”
He lifted a hand with a finger loosely pointing in the air, mouth agape before stopping himself. Confusion washed over his expression. You reveled in the brief peace as Anakin returned to his thoughts. But that gift did not last nearly long enough.
“And your…”
“Let’s just assume the answer is yes.” You interrupted while raising a hand to cut him off, closing your eyes in irritation.
You were reaching your wit's end.
“Obi-Wan took this much better.” You murmured, rubbing your temples.
Anakin grumbled, crossing his arms in defense. “Well, Obi-Wan isn’t The Chosen One.”
“Obi-Wan is standing right here.” He gibbed from his perch just beside Anakin’s seat, a hand resting on its ear with legs loosely crossed.
“Well I, for one, am glad we found you.” Ahsoka interrupted from her place crisscrossed on the floor. She locked her mischievous eyes with yours, a smug smirk pulling at the corner of her mouth. “Someone needs to keep my Master in check.”
You beamed brightly, wordlessly thanking her for the support. Then, a sudden spark went off behind her eyes. Her head tilted quizzically at you.
“Wait, how did Qui-Gon find you? I mean, it sounds like The Order had no idea you existed, so it’s not like he could’ve found some record of you.”
You thought of her words carefully, looking up to the ceiling to delve into your memories. The other two Jedi turned toward you expectantly.
“I’m…actually not sure.”
You took a moment, trying to remember any information your Master dispensed about your beginnings.
“When I was very young.” You started. “I once asked Qui-Gon if he was my father. I was still trying to understand concepts like Master and family through my studies. And as the only human I’d known, his presence was very confusing.”
You smiled at the memory of your childlike imagination. “Obviously, he said no, explaining concepts like Master and Padawan and their disconnection from familial bonds. But in that conversation, he told me my parents had passed.”
Anakin nurtured a commiserate expression.
“I’m sorry.” He said in a soft voice.
It was then that you noticed how your story stirred The Chosen One— like dark storm clouds behind his eyes. A saga of sensitivities swirled behind his pupils.
You appreciated his empathy, and conveyed a grateful glance, watching as he nodded with postured stoicism while leaning back once more, arms crossed. Underneath all that brazenness, there seemed to be a very caring individual, you thought to yourself. And he didn’t hide it well.
Dragging yourself from the interaction, you once more delved into your past. You watched the three Jedi as the most likely theory formed.
“If he knew that…that my parents were dead, I assume he must of discovered me around then.” You shrugged at your pervasive cluelessness on the subject. “Or, maybe it was blind luck many years later, much like our first meeting. Who knows? My memories of that time are cloudy.”
“In my experience, there is no such thing as luck.” Obi-Wan expressed, smiling at you with a wise impression.
The corner of your eyes crinkled at his kismet reference as the four of you breathed into the weary silence. These hours of conversation had clearly drained the room of all its energy. It felt as if the previous night’s sleep had been stretched out of you by the very words unleashed into the air.
You were sure the revelation of your destiny and connection to Qui-Gon acted as a fountainhead to the mental fatigue that soaked through the shelter’s inhabitants. Your account was evidently transformative to these Jedi. It presumably forced them to question lifelong-held beliefs about your former Master and The Chosen One prophecy. Qui-Gon was always very clear with you about his efforts to keep you a secret from the Galaxy. You guessed that also meant from Anakin himself.
Maybe that’s why you felt incongruity bubble up within you. It was a strange experience, explaining your purpose in another being’s life without them having any previous knowledge of your existence. And despite the coherence of The Guardian’s destiny, you suddenly felt misplaced. Especially when you observed The Chosen One’s reactions.
Anakin’s furrowed eyebrows and slightly parted lips clarified his stupefaction. Yet just below the surface, you sensed the slightest sliver of tension escape his force. A sort of uncertainty that leaked from his figure.
His sudden arrival was unexpected, mostly because you thought the first contact would be more grand, precise, and deliberate. You believed all your life that one day Qui-Gon would arrive to tell you it was time, only to load you onto a starship with the Jedi Temple as its heading. There, a formal introduction would take place of great fanfare with all of the Jedi masters in attendance. A symbol of The Order’s strength of unity against the Sith in their centuries-long conflict.
But instead, here you were, by the Force’s will, sitting in front of The Chosen One who had just happened to crash land on the very planet you took refuge on. And while you were confident in each word that escaped your breath, your disorientation was still amplified by the shard of doubt that split from him. Qui-Gon wasn’t here to help you tell your story like you always dreamed he’d be. So it was up to you alone to advocate for your place in the Galaxy.
You knew Anakin’s hesitancy stemmed from the sudden discovery of your existence and, mostly, The Guardian’s unexpected tie to him. As you ruminated further, you noticed that it was much like your sudden imposter syndrome. Both of you clearly lacked the tools to approach a discussion of this magnitude.
And it was a strange comfort, knowing that you both felt equally disquiet about this meeting. Maybe the two of you were far more intertwined than you first truly realized.
To your side, Ahsoka’s bright smile was difficult to ignore from her place crossed on the floor. It emanated delight as her eyes ricocheted between you and Anakin, her tilted cheek resting on a fist. You found her to be the most accepting of your connection to Anakin’s path.
In conversation with the three of them, you discovered her to be Anakin’s new Padawan. It clicked that she likely saw you as some positive cosmic influence on the Master she held in high esteem. You were equally grateful for her connection to Anakin. Ahsoka herself seemed like a wonderful young Jedi. You admired her outspoken nature and youthful buoyancy, reminding you of yourself as a young trainee.
It was also reassuring to know that there was another person close to Anakin that you could learn from. After all, to best support and protect The Chosen One, you needed to know him well. Qui-Gon taught you that. And that meant understanding not only him, but his close associates as well.
That too included Obi-Wan, who seemed relaxed, almost grateful, since he fully accepted the truth. His shoulders were loose and eyes hopeful throughout the second rendition of your story. After giving up his seat, the older Jedi stood comfortably by Anakin, silently supporting him from behind. It made sense since you learned he was Anakin’s former Master.
Your inferences were based solely on his outward expressions, failing to register anything he released into the Force. Clearly, once the bearded Jedi recognized your force sensitivity, he found it best to firmly conceal his emotional connection to his signature, much like his other companions. If you had paid more attention to your first meeting with the Jedi, you may have realized his ability to manage this connection to the Force. His heightened control when in the presence of other Jedi would’ve dwarfed the loosened attentiveness he held around non-sensitive beings, as when he shared your company alone in the shelter.
You remember one of your first trainings with Qui-Gon was on this very topic. However, he did not only teach you how to protect your mind. Qui-Gon spent many sessions gifting you the longest and most in-depth lesson you experienced— Force Stealth.
He was always sure to remind you that for many years, it would be your most vital skill. Your former Master chided you on the need to be highly maneuverable in this field of force study to stay alive. Completely hiding your force signature was the only sure way to prevent your discovery by either side, especially the Sith. These Jedi only protected their thoughts, you mused inwardly. But once you realized this, Anakin’s readable distress became particularly perplexing.
Your mind was still saturated with anachronism to think too deeply about these matters.
Yet, you still lacked despondency, despite learning of your late Master’s passing. It had been nearly a decade since you last saw him. Maybe that’s why in the last few years, you occasionally surmised deep down at the base of your subconscious that he’d passed, leaving you stranded on Hoth alone.
But it still felt impossible to believe. Maybe that’s why you were holding it together. Or maybe some part of your heart had accepted Obi-Wan’s words, but it just hadn’t sunk in yet. Or maybe these swirling battles within you were too distracted by the initiation of your prophetic path to land that last punch of unavoidable, bitter truth.
“Well…” Anakin began.
You jolted from your thoughts.
As you registered his questioning intonation, you inwardly moaned, mentally preparing yourself for the next set of inquiries you thought ended a while ago.
He sighed. “There isn’t that much room, but I’m sure we can find space for a fourth in the shuttle’s cabin.” Anakin grinned.
A feeling of delight bubbled in your stomach. In all this time of discussion and deep contemplation, you hadn’t had the chance to really ponder the life-changing ramifications of this meeting. That included leaving Hoth, possibly forever, for the first time in a very long time. It meant meeting new people, a new planet, with a big new city that you’d only heard about through Qui-Gon’s tales. For someone who grew up in isolation for their entire existence, this revelation was overwhelmingly exciting, and somehow nerve-wracking.
“I sure hope so. Last time I checked, there were four seats installed, unless you destroyed one during your repairs.” Obi-Wan jested.
Anakin rolled his eyes. “You know what I mean.”
If the four of you were to leave this planet soon, the state of those repairs would be a determining factor, you thought.
“So I take it the shuttle is fixed?” You inquired.
Anakin shrugged. “Eh, mostly.”
He seemed to notice the apprehension grow on your features as he quickly explained.
“I mean.” Anakin stuttered. “The engines are fixed and the shuttle can take off. But there are a few holes that lead to some important places. So they need to be plugged.”
Obi-Wan folded his arms, seemingly unimpressed with Anakin’s understatement. “I assume you’re referring to the holes in the main hull.”
Anakin sighed despondently. “Yeah.”
This complication certainly posed a roadblock to escape, but it only took a moment for you to realize that the solution was directly in front of you. Or more, all around you.
“Well.” You chewed over your thoughts as you phrased them. “If I won’t be here for much longer, I’m not gonna have much use for this shelter. Could we salvage its parts to seal any cavities?”
Anakin perked up at your suggestion, glancing around at the hull. “I…think that may work.”
“Great!” You clapped your hands, hope radiating throughout your body.
“Let’s get started.”
It only took about an hour to determine the shelter’s best specimens, extract them, and then prepare them for transport for the final phase of repairs. Anakin and Ahsoka were quick to load the materials into makeshift bindles constructed from your blanket collection.
You recall commenting on his pace: his evaluation of the manual, the previous restorations, the speed at which he tore out the necessary fragments from the shelter— it was all done in great haste. And his defense of this unwavering initiative was most amusing.
“I hate the snow. It’s like sand, but it gets you all wet.”
Fair enough, you thought.
That was many hours ago. Anakin and Ahsoka had long ago left for the shuttle to complete the repairs, and you and Obi-Wan were now just on the way to join them. You readjusted your grip on the lichen bag once again slung across a shoulder, this time filled with a few possessions rather than a slimy lunch.
As you moved through the new layer of snow that accumulated overnight, you thought back to how difficult it was to ignore the cold chills that scurried down your bare arms in the shelter when you were collecting your things. The exposed snow, apparent due to the missing paneling, destroyed the warming effect of the old ship’s hull.
You never referred to the old ship as your home, knowing that eventually, you would leave that place to start your journey. But that wasn’t your only reasoning. It wasn’t your home because it was a refuge, a place for asylum, for development, to prepare you for The Chosen One’s arrival, without risk of being destroyed by the Sith— at least not before you were ready to face them.
In all honesty, you were still unsure if your training would satisfy the needs of the path ahead. However, the Force seemed to believe you were prepared to begin this quest, so you had to trust in that.
You refocused your memories, thinking back to when you were collecting a few of your favorite holobooks discussing The Old Republic Jedi and the Jedi-Sith War, which you laid out on your desk as you packed. Qui-Gon’s first gift, a navy blue-based blanket with gold shimmers, was neatly folded beside them. As you clipped your lightsaber to your belt and shrugged on your warm Wampa cloak, you allowed your gaze to wander throughout the shelter until it was stopped by a glint from a thin slit in the curtain.
You stared carefully at the item that caught your eye. It hung from the back wall and clearly made its desire to accompany you well known. A breathy laugh escaped you as you shook your head. You ruminated while walking up to take the half-circle metal headpiece. How could you ever forget what you lovingly referred to as your Second Master.
“Is that The Muntuur?” You turned to the voice and were met with Obi-Wan’s expectant demeanor.
“Yes.” You strolled to your desk, Obi-Wan following close behind.
“If the Force believes that it’s prepared me enough to begin my voyage, then it shouldn’t hurt to bring it along. To keep me fresh.”
Picking up the lichen bag, you began to fill it with the laid-out belongings. It was hard to miss the intrigue dripping from the man behind you as you wrapped The Muntuur in the blue blanket. You placed it in the lichen bag, which you sealed shut with the drawstrings.
“Don’t worry.” You reassured. “Although there isn’t time to experiment if we have any hope of reaching the ship before sunset, I promise we’ll find time for the device once we arrive.”
Obi-Wan’s expression brightened at your offer. “I appreciate that.”
Then, a thought crossed your mind. “We are going to The Temple, right?”
He nodded. “Yes, straight to Coruscant.”
When you later left the shelter for the last time, you were faced with your most difficult goodbye.
Meetra was grooming her arm with wet laps when the two of you emerged from the hatch. As you let it fall closed with a thud behind you, the friendly Tauntaun raised her head in curiosity, sniffing the air for any aroma of danger.
You approached Meetra, placing each hand on her neck once more to feel her warm, thick fur.
“This is bye, for now, Meetra.” You cooed, moving your hands to pull her head down, placing a light kiss on her right tusk. “I’m gonna miss you more than you know.”
And with one last pat on her chest, you turned to make your way to the shuttle. Out of the corner of your vision, you noticed an indiscernible emotion resting on Obi-Wan’s face as his eyes peaked at you subtly.
You glanced at his following figure. He quickly acknowledged you with a copy of your bright expression. You observed his fine guise through a pregnant pause before swiveling back toward the path ahead, brushing off the interaction as the two of you continued the expedition.
Now, you both were hours into your trek, trudging through snow troughs and avoiding ice patches as the freezing wind whipped your hair, occasionally blocking your vision.
Obi-Wan seemed to be fairing just as well, a hand blocking his face so that he could see through the falling flakes. It sounded as if the Maker himself was trying to whistle for the first time from the skies.
“Why did you leave the Tauntaun behind?” Obi-Wan projected over the heavy gusts that began to pick up.
“She wouldn’t have found her way home without me.” You called out. “We‘ll be fine on our own.”
Another powerful blast of glacial wind threatened to knock you and Obi-Wan over. You both stood your ground before attempting to continue the trek during a rest in the gusts’ pull seconds later.
“We will see.” He wondered aloud.
Your gaze dropped as you tried to focus on one step at a time. While you’ve experienced the rough Hoth weather plenty of times in the past, you haven’t had to travel through it without Meetra’s help. You knew this planet well, and Obi-Wan was right. If the budding storm worsened, it could not only threaten any non-planetary beings on the surface, but also prevent the shuttle from taking off— at least not without the engine’s stalling.
Glancing up, you were now able to see the ship in the near distance, blurred by the thickening snowfall.
“Hey!” You called out, grabbing Obi-Wan’s attention with a wave. “Only a few more minutes.” You loudly assuaged, pointing at the now upright shuttle in front of you.
He nodded.
You had only taken a few more steps when a high-pitched mechanical squeal permeated the atmosphere. You contorted at the painful drone, covering your ears. Obi-Wan was similarly hunched over, trying to block out the sound. Then, as quickly as it appeared, the uncomfortable tone left.
You turned to Obi-Wan as you regained your posture. “What was that?!”
“I don’t know!” He stepped forward. “We need to get to the ship!”
You nodded as the two of you picked up the pace, much like the volume and intensity of the storm. As you neared the shuttle, Anakin and Ashoka’s figures became clearer in the growing whiteout engulfing the region. Anakin was loosely hanging from the side of the viewport by one hand, his feet swaying, as he finished sealing the hole in the transparent steel with one of your shelter’s panels and a lightsaber. Ahsoka was yelling something unintelligible from below before Anakin readjusted and jumped down to join her, continuing their conversation.
Soon, a kaleidoscope of warm tones caught the corner of your eye, turning your head toward the first sign of the coming dusk. This was beginning to be very bad, you thought to yourself. You started to forcefully jog through the trapping pressure of the snow, Obi-Wan matching your speed.
And in a few moments, their words became clearer.
“…need to get out of here!” You caught the last part of Ahsoka’s sentence as you and Obi-Wan caught up to them. The strong frigid gusts became sonorous, lasting for minutes at a time. Even with the aid of the Force, you were having difficulty keeping your feet planted.
Finally, you found your footing. “What on Hoth happened?!”
Anakin’s head spun toward you. “Who says that?!”
“They do!” Obi-Wan rebuffed. “Now what happened?!”
“I think I triggered some old security system while repairing the last hole in the viewport!” Anakin explained. “It doesn’t matter!”
Darkness started to creep across Hoth’s miles-long white blanket at an almost imperceptible rate, but fast enough to begin sinking this side of the planet’s temperature down to dangerously low levels.
Suddenly, you felt a shift in the land nearby. You took a moment, closing your eyes and breathing deeply to reach out to the impression.
“We need to leave now!” Ahsoka yelled. “If the storm gets any worse we’ll be stuck!”
The energies were large. Towering but swift. A violent rage and cavernous hunger penetrated your senses.
“It may matter.” You whispered to yourself.
You opened your eyes, glancing at Obi-Wan who mirrored your actions.
“Do you sense it?” You asked lowly, but loud enough to be heard over the howling storm.
Obi-Wan faced forward, closing his eyes. It looked as if his nose was being pulled into the distance as he dug into the Force, brows creased and lips pursed.
His eyes shot open at the three of you. “We need to leave, now!” Obi-Wan started to jog toward the shuttle’s entrance on the opposite side, you, Anakin, and Ahsoka hard on his heels.
The dimming light began obscuring your vision.
“What is it?!” Ahsoka questioned.
“A pack of Wampas!” You answered from behind. “Obi-Wan, they won’t let the shuttle take off! We’ll need to deal with them if we have any hope of leaving this planet!”
“It’s too dangerous!” Obi-Wan argued as he lept at the shuttle’s entrance stationed about three feet off the ground.
Landing, he rested a hand on the handle before turning to face the three of you. “Fighting anything in this weather will get us killed. Let alone the number of beings I sense.”
“Doing nothing will get us killed!” You maintained. “In the time it takes for us to prepare for takeoff, they’ll rip the hull to shreds!”
You took a moment to briefly reconnect with the life forms around you, registering how dangerously close the Wampas now were. Suddenly, what sounded like a gurgled scream combined with a deep-bellied roar echoed from a hundred feet away.
Anakin spun in the direction of the cry, grabbing the hilt of his lightsaber.
“Snips, start the engines!” He stared into nothingness beyond the blinding storm, now plunged in darkness. “Yell when we can lift off!”
Igniting his saber, he took a few cautious steps forward, its blue glow reflecting off the snowflakes falling around. You copied his actions, activating your weapon, the gray of your saber blending more with the environment. You listened as Obi-Wan jumped down from the shuttle’s door, landing behind you and Anakin as Ahsoka leapt to the access point and let herself into the ship. The hiss of his saber sounded, it adding to the blue luminescence by casting a subtle shadow of part of your form.
The three of you stood wordlessly while the bellowing wind buffeted each of your cloaks and wheezed past your ears. It was impossible to hear distant footsteps beyond the unrelenting noise, so you focused on your senses and any images gleaned from the sabers’ radiance as the icy chills began to stiffen your muscles.
Out of the oblivion emerged a barely perceptible, large white mass running directly toward you at full speed. In a second, its right claw was poised for attack, a roar of a thousand voices emanating from the bloodthirsty Wampa.
You reacted quickly, vaulting over the beast and slicing off its attacking arm with the shadow of your saber, its wails echoing into the distance. You shifted into a flip mid-air, facing the creature’s wide back in time to lift your saber above your head and stab it, dragging the blade down as you descended. Once you landed comfortably on your feet, you watched the Wampa slump to its knees, letting out one last pathetic wail as its body collapsed into the snow, emptying the air of a little noise.
As if answering the cry, the sound of the shuttle coming online reverberated across the frosty plains.
Anakin relaxed his spine upwards from his attack stance. “That was easier than…”
A clamor of Wampan growls and wails erupted from behind as you whirled around to face them. The sheer number of sprinting giants made their footfalls thunderously loud above the tumultuous drones of the snowstorm. Anakin swiftly crouched back down into an offensive posture while you tightened your stance.
“You always have to speak too soon!” Obi-Wan commented boldly as you watched him raise his saber.
Before you knew it, seven Wampas emerged from the dark snowfall only feet away and headed straight for you.
“Uh, a little help!” You called out.
Anakin and Obi-Wan charged each flank of the pack, taking two each to distract while you dealt with three of the massive snow brutes. Their bodies built for blizzards moved agilely as you struggled against the heavy winds and trapping snow drifts. You were avoiding their blows by mere inches, making it impossible to launch an offensive.
“They seem to like you!” Obi-Wan quipped. He incapacitated one of his attackers with a blade through the side. Its dying cry only seemed to intensify the others’ aggression.
“I don’t think they’re happy that I skinned one of their brethren!” You retorted, referring to the Wampa cloak draped around your shoulders.
Finally, you found an opening to cut off the legs of the leftmost beast, causing it to crumple to an icy grave in a pained howl.
“I believe their anger is more related to a certain piercing alarm.” Obi-Wan sassed while dodging a particularly nasty attempt to bludgeon his head.
Anakin seemed to be faring equally well, having successfully cut off the head of one Wampa and aiming to finish off the other.
“I get it!” He yelled over the battle. “Blame The Chosen One!” You could hear the smirk on his face.
You rolled your eyes, barely missing a swipe at your neck from the deed. You took the opportunity to lob off both of the attacker’s paws, paving the way to kick him with a grunt to the disturbed sleet beneath you.
“Are you sure he’s The Chosen One?!” You called out to Obi-Wan, a wicked glint in your eye. “I thought they’d be more humble!”
“Anakin and humility have never been well acquainted.” Obi-Wan jested. He slashed at his last Wampa’s chest, cutting it down.
Anakin eyed the two of you. “Because I don’t need it!”
He turned.
“Agh!”
And in the momentary distraction, the younger Jedi received a claw to the cheek.
“Obi-Wan!” You sang with a grin. “The Chosen One needs your assistance.”
“Already on it!” He acknowledged. The older Jedi jogged toward the grumbling Anakin behind you.
Finally, another window of attack opened, enabling you to separate the torso from the legs of the last beast standing before you with a quick swipe of your blade.
As you caught your breath, you turned in time to see Anakin and Obi-Wan cut down the final Wampa with two sabers through the stomach, its culminating bellow signaling the end of the battle. The two relaxed, shutting off their lightsabers and attaching them to each belt.
You ambled toward the duo after clipping your own now-deactivated saber. You tried to dust off the accumulating snow on your arms, but most of it had iced over in the dropping temperatures of a Hoth night.
Trying to ignore the numbness of your nerves from the subfreezing temperatures, you looked up, locking your gaze with them as a feeling of levity embraced you.
“I’m The Chosen One!” You mocked in a high-pitched voice, throwing your hands up and scrunching your cheeks. “I could’ve taken the whole pack with my eyes closed!”
“Yes, I believe that’s quite an accurate impression.” Obi-Wan teased with an eyebrow quirked, turning to his former Padawan with a hand gesturing to his point.
Anakin crossed his arms. “You know.” He began nonchalantly. “I could definitely take on a pack with my eyes closed.”
You rested each hand on your hips, leaning into one side with a significant lack of inspiration on your face. As the adrenaline wore off, an unpleasant ache began to pull at your sinuses.
“Let’s go!” The three of you turned your head to Ahsoka who stood in the shuttle doorway, waving you over. “This storm is seconds away from keeping us grounded!”
“About time.” Anakin huffed as he led the way back to the ship, you and Obi-Wan close behind.
You were not a mere two steps into your stride when a weakened growl vocalized behind you. You all turned as the Wampa you kicked rolled onto its knees and began to crawl upwards in all its armless glory.
“Get in!” You advised, grabbing and reactivating your saber. “I’ll take care of it!”
Anakin leapt up to the entrance, landing in the doorway gracefully before turning to you. “Come on!” He argued nonchalantly. “What’s it gonna do?!”
“An armless Wampa can still do a lot of damage!” You challenged. “Trust me, I’ve learned the hard way!”
Whirling around to begin your trot back to the stumbling blob of fur, you called out once more.
“You three focus on getting us out of here!”
You listened as Obi-Wan jumped up to join Anakin on the shuttle, followed by distant conversation. Your saber was readied mere feet away from the creature when the older Jedi called out to you.
“Anakin says we need to lift off now!”
You groaned. “Then take off!”
Swiftly, you plunged your fiery blade into the heart of the beast, killing him instantly.
As the adamant Wampa fell for the final time, you felt the snow pick up around you, a sonorous whirring rumbling from behind. You pivoted just in time to see the shuttle at least five meters above the ground and climbing fast. You charged toward the vessel, its entryway still open with Obi-Wan standing to the side as he peeked out at you, holding the frame for support.
Your feet grew heavier as the water that had leaked into your boots began to freeze. It felt as if the biting cold had calcified your limbs. You couldn’t tell if your vision was blurring due to the thickening blizzard, your persisting headache, or your dropping body temperature.
“Come on!” You looked up at Obi-Wan who had knelt by the door, the shuttle now 15 meters above you.
You continued your labored dash.
“You must jump.” He reached out a hand as you stopped some meters away from the liftoff point.
You closed your eyes and breathed deeply as you concentrated on the Force, hoping to melt away the stiffness in your movements and bring back some feeling in your extremities. You had certainly jumped long distances before when training with Qui-Gon, but this would be pushing it.
After shaking out each limb, you glanced up to see that the shuttle had climbed another 5 meters.
Great.
“Jump!” Obi-Wan yelled, reaching his hand out further.
“I know!” You yelled, slightly annoyed.
“I’ll catch you!” He assured.
You huffed, centering yourself in a wide stance. Then, bending your knees and reaching out to the energy around you, you jumped.
Freezing wind blasted your face to the point of losing all feeling. The air pushed back on your body, especially weighing you down by your fur cloak.
Still, the Force kept your trajectory. Some snow flew in your face, but the real culprit was the wind whipping your hair directly into both eyes.
You may have connected to the Power of the Cosmos a little too deeply, because you overshot. Instead of neatly landing in the entryway like Anakin, you collided with Obi-Wan, straddling him on impact as he flew back. He took the brunt of the fall, cushioning your landing with his strong, shielding form. A loud thud echoed throughout the cabin you both met the shuttle floor.
You shook your head, reorienting jumbled senses as your eyes connected with his. Obi-Wan’s flooded with relief, sighing at your somewhat safe landing. It looked almost as if his furrowed brows were scanning your face for any sign of discomfort.
You assume he did not find any concerning indications as his expression quickly morphed into a desperate attempt to manage the pain from that rough drop.
“I caught you.” Obi-Wan exhaled, his warm breath tickling your nose.
You couldn’t help the breathy laugh that escaped you, followed by a pained groan when you rolled off him and onto the cold, shaking, shuttle floor.
You kneaded the side of your ribs. It throbbed from a rough meeting with the hilt of Obi-Wan’s lightsaber. The bearded Jedi emanated a similar vocalization as he sat up, massaging between his shoulder and neck where you’re pretty sure your leading hand slammed into him.
Ahsoka shot up, stumbling over to the ship’s door before pulling it closed and sealing it tightly with a twist of the handle.
She spun toward you. “Nice jump!”
“Not so nice for me,” Obi-Wan interjected.
You sent him a sheepish look. “Sorry.”
“Welcome aboard!” Anakin saluted from the pilot's seat.
You noticed the shallow cut on his cheek had frozen over while Ahsoka returned to her backseat.
“Now, get ready.” He directed. “This is gonna be fun.”
“If I wasn’t seeing stars.” Obi-Wan began. “I would have something to say to that.”
The two of you rose from the floor, having trouble keeping your stance as the shuttle continued to tremble. Obi-Wan stumbled to the co-pilot's seat while you joined Ahsoka, unceremoniously landing in the chair neighboring hers.
The hum of the draft against the hull intensified as you watched the storm worsen, with thicker snowfall and the inklings of hail bouncing off the viewport.
“Hold on!” Anakin exclaimed.
You found it wise to follow that advice.
He pulled down the throttle, pinning the four of you against your seats as the ship shot up. The shuttle creaked and groaned while the outside pressure appreciated. You grew dizzy from the intensifying quakes.
“How old is this ship, again?” You inquired.
“Don’t ask,” Anakin warned.
The vessel broke through a layer of clouds. You wouldn’t have realized had the other side not lightened the darkness you were previously doused in.
The engines began to whine, slowly modulating upwards. The beat of your heart intensified. It would be a miracle if this ship didn’t stall.
“Almost there…” Anakin gnashed.
“My brain‘s gonna turn into jelly,” Ahsoka commented with a woozy tone.
Your grip on the armrests tightened. “Tell me about it.”
You stared at the viewport, watching as the ship tumbled through flying snow and dangerous ice, surrounded by the blacks and grays of the sky. Then, in a mere second, you broke through some thin gloomy barrier, and were met with thousands of bright stars on an endless black canvas.
The shuttle instantly calmed, sailing smoothly and deeper into space. The four of you settled into an eery serenity as you stared out the viewport in awe, having long forgotten what space looked like from inside a starship.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?”
You glanced at Obi-Wan who’d twisted in his seat to face you, an endearing smile gently resting on his countenance. He seemed to have noticed your child-like wonderment. But who could blame you? It was an extraordinary sight, and not something you’d seen very often.
The last time you left Hoth, you were bound for Ilum for The Gathering. But that was many years ago, and you hardly remember it being this bewitching.
Then again, there was a big difference between collecting your Kyber crystal and facing the destiny you’ve prepared your whole life for. That anticipatory element could’ve added to your excitement.
This time, you weren’t going on a short trip. You were leaving for a while. For forever. Disappearing without a trace. Being called by forces unknown who freed you to face a destiny set in stone from the beginning.
And maybe Qui-Gon was out there, somewhere. In the Galaxy or the Force, watching with a smile, as you received his message from a million miles away in the form of three lost Jedi.
Either way, your journey had just begun, and basking in the light of the galaxy felt like a good place to start.
“Yes.” You sighed contently. “It is.”

Note
Hey, I like your little stories.
Could you maybe write something for Obi-Wan and Anakin inspired by the song 'Starlight' by STARSET, which is THE Obi-Wan and Anakin song of all time? Preferably something with a happy ending?
I hope that's a prompt you can work with. If not, just let me know. Thanks!
-@rainintheevening
A/N: Oh. My. God. Okay, so I'd never heard this song before this and it is 100% the Obi-Wan and Anakin song. Thank you so much for 1. REQUESTING and 2. "Hey, I like your little stories"?!?!?! I MADE THE EQUIVALENT OF THIS FACE: 🥺 TYSM!!! I hope you like this!!!
So obviously, lyrics in this are from Starlight by STARSET, I had a lil bit of trouble choosing which lyrics cause all of them are so great and ended up going with the chorus! Recommend: listen to the song whilst reading!!!
Alright, please send requests people and enjoy!!!! (Oh and dw, you get your happy ending.)
I don’t know what to say
Anakin stretched his limbs out, moving to walk up to Obi-Wan. Ahsoka wasn’t by his side as usual, instead in the Temple studying. Sure, he’d miss her, but it would be nice for him to have time with Obi-Wan, and she needed to catch up on studies.
The brunette moved to the ginger’s side, standing with his hands behind his back. The silence wrapped around them was comforting and warm. If he closed his eyes, Anakin could image he was laying in a meadow, sunlight coating him.
Obi-Wan opened his mouth to say something, and Anakin turned to him expectantly. But no words came from the ginger’s mouth, and instead he gave his brother a wry smile. Anakin laughed softly, a sound melodic and silky. If his laugh had a colour, in that moment it would’ve been baby blue, floating through the air like wisps of joy.
Obi-Wan laughed too, throwing his head back with it. Something about their soft, light laughter made the situation delicately elysian. They weren’t really laughing for a reason, they didn’t have anything to laugh about really. In fact the situation was rather bleak, what with the upcoming fight ahead of them.
But in that moment, the fight seemed forgotten, or perhaps neither of them really cared.
But I’m going to want you till the stars evaporate
Anakin shuffled to be closer to his brother, reaching up a hand to ruffle the ginger’s hair. It was a joke between the two of them. When Anakin was a Padawan - and shorter than Obi-Wan - the older used to ruffle his hair as a show of the height difference. But Obi-Wan’s smug act was quickly overtaken when Anakin grew taller than him, doing the action as revenge.
Obi-Wan scoffed and grabbed Anakin’s shoulder gently, pushing him away and watching the brunette stumble exaggeratedly. They both laughed at the childishness of their interaction, Anakin slinging an arm over Obi-Wan’s shoulders and dragging him into step, heading towards the loading bay.
They moved in silence, but it was still warm.
The brothers walked side by side, conjoined by an invisible force of threads, tying them together with a light so blinding it was beautiful. Anakin spoke up finally, the playful tone of his actions lacing his words like honey. “How have you been?”
Obi-Wan gave him a smile, his head tilted in a statement more smirkish than his expression. “I’ve been good.” Unspoken words floated between them; ‘I’m better now you're here.’ Neither would ever admit it, but the other’s presence was more comforting than hot chocolate on a chilly night.
We’re only here for just a moment in the light
A familiar voice called out to the pair, startling the warmth. It was like a chilled breeze floating past them, causing them to shiver at the broken connection. “Yes, Commander?” Obi-Wan asked, turning to his Commander. Anakin stopped walking too, crossing his arms as he gave Cody a wry smile.
“We’ll be landing soon,” the Clone announced, greeting them both with a nod of his head each. Even with the helmet on, both Jedi could tell he was apologising for interrupting them.
“Thank you, Cody,” Anakin replied, shooting him another smile before turning to walk again. Obi-Wan stepped to his side, setting the pace for their walk.
They walked in the quiet for a moment, subconsciously sewing the threads of warm comfort back together. “It’s going to be weird without Ahsoka,” Obi-Wan mused after a moment, tentatively pressing on the threads connecting him to his brother. He grinned when Anakin pulled on the strings in turn, showing he was alright. The strings were golden - unlike Anakin’s baby blue laugh - and glowed in the dimly lit corridor, illuminating the brothers.
“Probably for the better,” Anakin responded lightly, his voice cracking ever-so-slightly as he thought of his sister. “It’s unfair for someone so young to be out in the field like that.”
Obi-Wan smiled sadly, placing a hand on his brother’s shoulder carefully. The meaning behind it floated like gentle words into Anakin’s mind; ‘You are too young, do not blame yourself.’ He returned the smile, pushing gratitude through the bond and to his brother.
One day it shines for us the next we’re in the night
Both brothers felt the ship jerk as they came out of hyperspace, and they simultaneously quickened their pace in order to get to the bay on time. The corridors rang with their footsteps and Anakin glanced to the ginger, a grin forming on his face.
They reached the bay quickly, and joined their troops on a gunship. Anakin stood beside his former Master, gripping the hanging handle with one hand, the other waving as he talked. He gave his orders to the troops, who all nodded before turning back to their own conversations.
Through the slits in the walls of the gunship, the brothers could see the night sky surrounding them. They were used to the inky black of Coruscant, staring in awe at the purple and blue sky, stars lighting it all. It was serene and ethereal.
“There are so many stars,” Anakin whispered to his brother, who nodded. Obi-Wan’s face was adorned with a dopey smile, his eyes reflecting the natural glow of the galaxy like a sea of swimming stars. Anakin turned back to the sky, knowing his own eyes were probably doing the same. He breathed in deeply, the chilly night air like icy water down his throat - satisfying and relaxing.
So say the word and I’ll be running back to find you
The gunship landed silently and the doors opened. The Clones instantly spilled out, but the Jedi were slower. Anakin stepped out into the lush grace with a curious grin, examining the landscape. He turned to Obi-Wan, who’s face portrayed the same awe.
They sadly bid their temporary farewells, setting off with their troops into the forest. They were to meet up again once they’d navigated their way around the abandoned village in the North.
Anakin stood with the hilt of his lightsaber in hand, the coolness of the metal soothing the adrenaline pulsing through him. They were silent as they trekked through the trees, laughing every time he heard one of the Clones quip something; often curses from tripping or words of admiration for the terrain.
He gasped suddenly when a cold feeling settled over him, seeping from the strings attached to his brother. He pulled on the bond worriedly, receiving a short, hurried tug in response. Anakin quickly ordered his troops forwards, and together they rushed through the brush towards Obi-Wan.
Anakin gasped when they reached him, a large black and furry creature standing over one Clone with it’s jaws parted, displaying hundreds of gleaming and sharp white teeth. The brunette hurried forward, impaling his lightsaber through the back of the creature. The blue lit up the clearing, giving him another visibility to see Obi-Wan battling another of the mystical creatures.
A thousand armies won’t stop me I’ll break through
Anakin hurried to help him, ducking and rolling underneath a swipe and retaliating with his glowing blue blade. Obi-Wan breathed out a ‘thank you’ before rushing to save a Clone. The brunette glanced around, counting at least a dozen of the huge beasts, towering over Clones. He had to admit, the creatures were mystically breath-taking, but in the same way absinthe glowed. Deadly, yet beautiful.
Anakin moved around, helping as many people at once as possible. At some point, he and Obi-Wan fell into a defensive position - back to back with their lightsabers in their right hands.
When a shrill scream broke through the air, Anakin turned to aid the fallen Clone, who was clutching his knee, staring at the spot where his leg had been moments before. A shot of pity coursed through Anakin’s body before he decapitated the creature, nose wrinkling in disgust when a place of the Clone’s armour dropped from its mouth.
He dragged the Clone to stand on his one leg, supporting him with a sympathetic smile. The Clone began lazily firing at the remaining creatures as Anakin helped him to the centre. Obi-Wan move to stand back to back with his brother again, protecting him from behind.
The remaining Clones hurried into the cluster, shooting at the last creatures. Anakin gave the Clone to Rex before lunging forward and jumping onto the back of one creature, plunging the blade of his lightsaber into its head.
As the body of the beast crumbled to the floor, Anakin stood up to see the bodies of the creatures littering the area, alongside the dead Clones.
I’ll soar the endless skies for only one sight
He closed his eyes for a moment, mourning their losses. Obi-Wan placed a hand on his shoulder comfortingly, sending waves of sympathy and warmth through their bond. Opening his eyes, Anakin gave him a grateful smile.
“We should rest,” Anakin told their troops, eyes locking with his Captain’s through the visor of his helmet. Rex gave him a sad smile, holding the Clone up with his arm. “Bury the dead.”
Obi-Wan nodded and the pair quickly set jobs for the uninjured, Kix tending to the legless Clone. Others had scratches and cuts - one trooper was crying tears of panic that he couldn’t see out of one eye - but some were just cleaning the blue blood from the creatures off their armour.
They gathered firewood and logs to sit on, the trees above them shelter enough. Anakin helped Cody and many others bury their dead, wincing as the last specks of dirt covered the white armour. They murmured their prayers softly.
Obi-Wan helped Anakin drag the bodies of the creatures into a circle around their camp, a barrier of sorts. They were tempted to eat the meat, but had enough rations and didn’t exactly feel like attempting to gut such a huge beast.
Of your starlight
Anakin yawned as he settled down on a log beside his brother, watching the smoke from the campfire swirl up into the night. He stared at the glittering stars and smiled, leaning back against a tree. The fire was keeping them warm, and the stories they shared kept them safe.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Obi-Wan whispered, his gaze locked on the gleaming sky as well. Anakin nodded, humming his agreement.
“I wish we could see this every night,” Anakin mused longingly, a content smile on his lips. Obi-Wan let out a soft laugh, mint blue wisps of joy floating into the air invisibly. They danced with the baby blue ones of Anakin, childish giggles floating through the air.
“One day,” Obi-Wan murmured, his words of hope like a warm drink in their hands. He reached over to rest his hand on his brother’s, soothingly rubbing his thumb over Anakin’s knuckles. “One day.”
Anakin hummed back happily, letting his eyes drift closed as the warmth over the fire covered him like a blanket. He glanced at the night sky and the stars one last time, before letting sleep wrap him up like a newborn baby. “One day,” he breathed out.
One day.

as anakin strolled through the hallways of the headquarters, he noticed his mentor inside one of the rooms that typically tended to be locked. through the open door, he could see him scrambling to straighten up the room a little more. "master? what are you doing?" he asked curiously.
obi-wan looked a bit taken back. he hadn't expected him to be up so early. "i am preparing."
the padawan tilted his head slightly in confusion at his words. "preparing for?"
"it is a very important day anakin," he replied. "i have someone very special i'd like you to meet."
his patience was beginning to run thin now. "master, can you please stop with all the mystery and just tell me?"
he stopped straightening out the bed and turned to anakin. "i have another padawan."
"what?" his brows furrowed and his face twisted into one of confusion. "i thought that was against the jedi code."
"it is," he stated. "but the council granted me permission as long as qui-gon split the responsibility."
it was all starting to make sense now in his head, like pieces of a puzzle. "is that why you disappear so often?"
obi-wan nodded. "yes. i had to make time for the both of you and that was the only way i could do it. now we must head down, they shall be arriving any minute now."
"i'm not understanding the significance of us meeting though. what is that good for?" he asked genuinely, following behind his master as they walked down the long halls.
"i'm hoping you two can work together," he said. "we believe it'll be good for you both to have someone else watch your back."
anakin's ego took a slight hit. "i thought you said i was the best. why would i need someone else watching my back if i can handle myself?"
the jedi stopped and turned to his padawan. "i said one of the best. i firmly believe you will be extremely pleased with your new partner."
"so do you consider your other padawan to be the best?" he said, a slight hint of jealousy in his voice.
"i consider you both to be the best," he replied firmly. "the two of you are my biggest successes. that is why i hope you may get along and work together. i just ask you give it a try."
anakin took a big breath and nodded. "i will, master."
"thank you, ani," he said. he turned around and continued his journey to the living area where they all would be meeting. his trainee followed him close behind, eyes searching all around to see if he could catch an early glimpse at who his new partner may be.
the two stopped and stood side by side, waiting in anticipation for those double doors to open and for the two to appear.
and when the doors finally did open, qui-gon walked through with a shorter figure behind him. when he came to a halt, the mysterious person appeared at his side.
he tried his best not to make a face, but how could he not? the padawan standing across him was not who he was expecting at all.
"anakin skywalker," obi-wan began. "i'd like you to meet serenity raven. serenity raven, anakin skywalker," he introduced the two.
something was off. its like they were frozen in time for a second, just starting at one another. "reni?" anakin asked cautiously incase it wasn't actually her.
the two jedi shared a look, qui-gon raising a brow at obi-wan. what was happening?
she took a long look at his face. she remembered the name very vividly. she remembered the young boy who'd come into the shop asking for burnt out parts he could potentially use on his ship he was creating. she remembered the first time her father hit her when he found out about her habits of gifting items to others for free, especially to a slave like anakin. suddenly, her eyes lit up. "ani? oh my god, you look so different."
the corners of his lips turned upwards as he analyzed her features. "i could say the same thing about you."
the two couldn't help but notice each others padawan braids that hung over their right shoulders, confirming the fact that they were actual padawans.
"i apologize for the interruption, but do you two know each other?" obi-wan asked curiously. he wasn't complaining by any means, but it was going much better than he expected.
"we met back home when we were kids," anakin replied. "she used to give me old parts to fix up my ship that helped me win that race."
it felt like a relief was lifted from the jedi's chests. not only did they get along, but the two were familiar with each other. they immediately knew they'd make a great team.
