oh so what they’re saying is being human, being uncomfortable, is part of your life and should not be wished away because otherwise you might really lose your humanity

like the birthing center where they sever expecting mothers so they don't have to experience the pain of childbirth. how do you truly understand that your child is truly yours, without knowing what it was like to fight and push and scream and yell and cry them into the world? such a pivotal moment in so many people's lives and you're not even there to witness your own...
Lumon higher ups are so determined to say that innies aren’t people because they only exist to suffer for their outies, but at what point do outies stop being people too? How many experiences can you severe yourself to avoid before you are no longer experiencing life at all?

At work, you'd come in sometimes with red eyes. We had a joke that you had an elevator allergy. There was even a song for it. But I always wondered.

the main thing that really stuck w me this episode is like. mark was just a normal dude. like we’ve spent sooo much time in the bizarro world of the severed floor and only seen snippets of the outside world, a lot of which are also strange like ricken’s social gatherings or fields and burt’s lutheran ham and cuckolding soiree, that this show so often feels detached from our reality. but this episode totally spun that on its head which just makes everything that has happened to mark and gemma since her “death” feel so much more dark and icky and twisted. like not only has lumon succeeded in making innies feel out of time/out of reality/disoriented but it also makes US feel that way by extension of being in their POV so often. like the first shot of history teacher mark was almost shocking how just. normal he looked

The US having an entire city in the middle of the desert dedicated entirely to gambling sounds like a thing other countries would make up about the US as a joke but its real and no one bats an eye at it
