Ignoring the fact that ibis had the ai paint feature a couple years before this whole ai fiasco, after seeing your post, I decided to try it out to see if it really held up. I already knew what you said made no sense, as even stuff like ai painting requires heavy human input that isn't just someone typing a prompt in a thing and looking through thousands of images and somehow still calling it 'art'. Really, it's just some weird advanced bucket.

The ibis ai paint... really sucks. I'm pretty sure it hasn't even been touched since it was added. No matter what I did, I got random colours and whatever colours I had put there looked like it were from a filter, not to mention how my lineart bled everywhere like it was blurred out.

Ibis isn't problematic for adding that feature as not only was it added ages ago, but it was also just a gimmick only added because a few more popular paid programs added them, like Clip Studio Paint. I highly doubt even the company took it seriously considering how poorly built it is. This is actually the one time I'm glad some feature in an app sucks so much.

Another reason why ibis isn't problematic by the mere feature alone is that, when you look at the artists making content during the time of that update, it was received with humour. It was something fun to try, but ultimately dismissed for actual artwork, as nobody would use it to fully paint their works. Nowadays we see something slapped with the words 'ai' and think that it's instantly bad due to the latest issues with it and big corperations/ certain production companies but it isn't. It's just a lot of people abusing what was previously some fun gimmick, which it can still be, and for certain apps, still is. Nobody throws pitchforks at character ai, after all.

You can tell just by the size of this that I'm procrastinating on something. Ima go and let this rot away in your askbox now lol

I wanna start off by saying thank you for holding me accountable, I will admit that I got buzzworded pretty hard in this situation lmao

This information came as a surprise to me-- I was seeing posts pop up within the past week complaining about the ai feature on ibis, so I assumed it was recent. As it turns out, after reading your ask, I discovered that I got a few wires crossed! Because yes, the auto paint feature I referred to in my post has been around for years now, and was never taken seriously anyways

So that was my bad (and yea ur right it's completely unusable, lmao)

But as it turns out, the feature that people have been complaining about DID come out recently. It was called the AI Example feature, I think the idea was that you make a simple drawing and the AI adds 99% of the detail and color, which I've seen a bunch of other programs do.

...and then it was immediately removed due to some pretty major backlash, which, duh

^ This is the only evidence I can find of the 11.2.0 update that included the AI feature on the actual site; their update history stops at 11.1.0. But there's also the news page about the removal of the update, so it's not like they're trying to pretend it never happened.

So tl;dr, I jumped on the hate train a little too quickly and never did enough research to figure out what the actual update was, and that it's been removed by now anyway (which I couldn't have known until today, ofc, but i did kinda post that thing about ibis today so it's still a pretty major oopsie)

I think I can say with confidence now that I agree, ibis paint isn't problematic to use-- they made a mistake with this update, but they actually listened to their users and removed it LITERALLY the next day. So, thanks for letting me know! I'll also edit my last post to prevent any misinformation, just in case people make the same mistake I did :]

Ok!

Odalia just got villianized with no depth, while I can understand wanting to showcase toxic parents, Alador got some kind of development, but Odalia just stayed the same the whole way through, which is pretty disappointing to me

Gus, he was mainly a background character, he got a bit of development and his own episode dedicated to him, but other than that he was just kinda...there.

Belos, for the most part I liked him, but I feel like they could've done more, he does have more personality rather than just "evilllllllllllll MWAHAHAHA" but not enough in my opinion, and if you wanna know the full length of his backstory, you have to look in the background which isn't a very good decision in my opinion, so while I do like his character for the most part, there are definitely more things they could've improved on

☆ When Irene and Father Burke met, Irene told him what I wrote above, so when they went to Maurice's house to ask about the abbey, Burke lied to Maurice to back off because "Irene is a nun"

☆ Irene still took vows from Burke when they were about to fight the final boss/fight, but since it wasn't official and Burke was the only one with a position in the church that was there during that moment it doesnt count!! (Let's just say that when they got back, the church didn't allow it ;) )

☆ Since Irene isnt a nun here, the "Thank you for saving my life, Maurice" SCENE IS MORE IMPACTFUL

☆ In the last scene, Irene revealed to Maurice that she really wasn't a nun but she was just planning to🤣

Second movie:

☆ Okay so when Valak was there in the climax scene in the first movie, they actually didn't possess maurice!

So how did they go to boarding school?

Valak still has another portal but is inactive, which made it's barriers there weak, but since their main portal was closed in the first movie, Valak then went to that other inactive portal. There, one after another, Valak possessed innocent people, (after Valak posseses another person, their last vessel dies kind of thing) so the scene where the church noticed that people were dying left and right in the churches still happens, up until Valak makes their way to the boarding school where the eye of saint lucy is placed!

☆ So who gets possessed in part 2?

ITS THE TEACHER MWAHAHAHA (I kinda have beef with her character smh, but I think it's kinda appropriate that she gets possessed, im not quite sure how that happens but take it as it is! This is my head canon😭)

☆ Since it was the teacher who was possessed, she manipulates Maurice not to interfere with what Valak is trying to do BY SHOWING THAT SHE WAS KIND AND DEFINATELY NOT POSSESSED so that Maurice would not be suspicious of her, so expect some back and fourth scenes with the four characters in the movie.

☆ During the train flashback scene, SINCE IRENE DIDN'T BECOME A NUN, THERE IS MORE TENSION BECAUSE THEY BOTH ARE HAVING REGRETS FOR LEAVING SINCE THERE HAS BEEN SPARKS BUILDING UP BETWEEN THEM THAT ITS OBVIOUS ENOUGH THAT THEY BOTH THINK THAT THERE MIGHT BE SOMETHING THERE BUT DID NOT PERSUE EACH OTHER because Maurice was leaving and went to look for a job far from the church since he still is traumatized 🤩😭😭😭

☆ After that Maurice went looking for a new job and found it at the boarding school and the rest of the movie happens exactly the same.

☆ At the end of the movie, THE TEACHER DIES SO THERE'S NO ONE TO GET POSSESSED BY VALAK AGAIN AFTER A WHILE

(okay maybe I do have beef with her character.. ONLY because, if you really think about it, if the teacher wasnt there, and it was only sophie who was with maurice, THERE LITERALLY IS LITTLE TO NO DIFFERENCE WITH THE MOVIE)

☆ BUT— Maurice would still almost die and the thank you for saving my life scene happens AGAIN BUT MUCH MORE IMPACTFUL BECAUSE THERE IS A KISS AT THE END YESS!!!!! SWEET VICTORY!!!!!! WOHOOO THE SHIP HAS SAILED!!! After Irene kissed Maurice, maybe frenchie would even say "You even cut your hair after I left" (because yes, when i saw that irene had short hair for the movie, i immediately thought that she was broken hearted after they parted ways Hshshsh🫠) and Irene just laughes at him AND THE MOVIE ENDS HAPPLY EVER AFTER!!!!

It is cliché, but then again— it's my head canon😭

Ravio Singing about the LU bois: I had that song on repeat for who knows how long and went “ya know, this could be funny”

The AI one: I watch to much Vocaloid/Megaman/Digimon and technology tends to die at my hands so I figured why not combine all of it to explain my curse. I initially came up with the characters back in high school and I’ve just fleshed it out over the years for portfolio pieces. …..I realize that I never posted this? I don’t think???? My bad but here’s art for the characters

The Witch and Cat one: This was for my Storyboard class and we had the prompt “a pet owner drops some food, their pet eats it, and it becomes a monster”. I didn’t want to make my pet a scary monster and I had been researching Grimm’s Fairytales and German architecture for a different class at the same time so I kinda just used what I had and went with a story of a magic potion going wrong.

The Robot one: like the Cat one, this was also for school and based off a (more complex) prompt. Thankfully for me (and unfortunately for all you poor souls thinking that it would be happy), it was based off of one of my favorite tropes so I had a strong idea of what I wanted to do right off the bat. Something about robots discovering human emotions and not being able to handle it or embracing them despite it resulting in their break down always seems to get to me. And I was handed that on a silver platter mwahahaha. I also love ballet and music so I kinda just combined everything for a nice sucker punch right in the heart.

Miss Fritter's got a fair amount of tattoos – at least, those that aren't covered by scars. The most notable among them are the words on her hands, where below each knuckle they say "HELL" and "BENT"

She's also got a cut on her ear that you can see, which came from another such excursion of bodily scarring through her sport.

Speaking of sport, because this is human land here, they do drive vehicles in their crazy 8 races for the record, and most people's bodily damage is just from getting tossed around in their own jury-rigged scrap metal cars.

I seriously debated making the human equivalent cage fighting instead, but I thought that didn't have quite the same vibes nor the same free-for-all theme that crazy 8 racing has. And not to mention, that exists in our world anyways. I have been lucky enough to watch school bus figure 8 racing before, live in person. It's very messy lol.

But since I had that idea, yeah...Fritter's got a history of cage fighting too ;)

On the other end of the spectrum, Natalie Certain is in a unique predicament which is how she meets the madam: impressed with Cruz's skillset, she goes hunting for the inside scoop on the actual, statistical "learning" from all of the places Cruz initially "trained" in. Given the win at Thunder Hollow, that was where she ended up.

To put size into perspective y'all: Natalie Certain is a whopping 5'2", and Miss Fritter (without the combat boots, mind) is a solid 6'0". Add two to three inches for big boots. Beeg Woman...

Natalie's fascination is a hilarious evolution of "oh my God this place is so gritty and horrible, I hate this, I might die here" to "wow this woman is so in her element in this crazy and dangerous place...that's kinda hot"

Is Cruz involved in this? Maybe maybe. I'm debatey-bating. Either they're a love angle where Natalie has to choose between the two, or the three of them become a poly lesbian relationship and all you fuckers get to witness my unhinged lesbian madness. Mwahahaha

Oh my God I just read all of your asui stuff and even though I never considered this ship before I love it?? Like whenever I watch eva I genuinely don't think about the romantic lives of any of the characters because the themes of loneliness and low self worth speak to me more, but now that I've considered how toxic they can be my brain is on fire??? I love ships in media but often times the the characters’ personal arcs are thrown aside to make room for romantic narratives, which makes sense but it still kinda sucks and it can feel a bit OOC at times. Thats why I like asurei so much, because they’re so fundamentally intertwined that you can’t NOT consider it. Since the ship itself is based strongly on their chara development throughout the show, it ends up feeling very real too! Also if you ever wanna do fluff, nge’s whole alt timeline thing is crazy convenient LOL

Fuck it, Simon Belmont, because why not you basically themed your blog after him

You don’t have any specific numbers, so I’m just answering every question >:3c mwahahaha—

1. “Why do you like this character”:

A lot of reasons!!! First off, most of his games are super fun and some of my favorite platformers just in general. I replay CV1, Simon’s Quest, and SCV4 most often cause they’re a real joy to play! I also absolutely LOVE Simon’s story, I’ve considered making comics about it if I could ever get out of recent art block whoops, even though I’ve seen many people say he doesn’t have one (´TωT｀). His designs are really cool, he’s got great music in his games, there’s just a lot to love and I’ll explain more in detail in other questions.

2. “Favorite canon thing?”

I really like the concept that he looks up to Christopher as this legendary hero and then ends up considered the same kind of legendary hero by Juste and others after him. It’s pretty ironic, kinda bittersweet, especially after being hated for so long. Castlevania loves its cycles like that. Also just Simon’s Quest in general, I love that game.

3. “Least favorite canon thing?”

Ooo that’s very hard. There’s kinda a lot of things about him that aren’t explained or confirmed, especially personality wise, but I kinda like that in a way cause it leaves room for interpretation and whatnot. Idk hmmm. I’m gonna go with Grimoire of Souls in general. I had some hopes for it, but it ended up being kinda lame. A lot of the characterization was weird and don’t even start me on things like the Cursed Whip theory being in there 💀. So I just choose to ignore it and not consider it canon.

4. “If you could put this character in another media, what would it be?”

I have thought about drawing him as if he was a character in other series for ages lol. I’ve already drawn him as a Pokémon trainer, I’ve thought about drawing Castlevania and Soul Eater crossovers before, and I tried drawing him in the style of Resident Evil 1 but could not get the art style down. Idk put him in Fortnite or something that’d be funny we already got Solid Snake so Konami has been in talks with them I guess X,,,,,,,,,,D

5. “What’s the first song that comes to mind when you think of them?”

Probably either Simon’s Theme (of course lol) or Bloody Tears, but I do wanna mention that I have a YouTube playlist of songs I wanna make Simon animations with eventually (alas animation is HARD).

6. “What’s something you have in common with the character?”

Mostly negative things unfortunately d(;w; ). Like self comparison, doubt in my own abilities, trouble making and keeping friends, etc etc. Although a lot of these are based on assumptions and interpretations, as a lot of him usually is. Simon does have a really similar hair color to me on the NES box art tho so that’s cool.

7. “What’s something the fandom does with this character that you like?”

There’s a lot of really nice art of him!!! Usually portraits, but sometimes there’s other doodles and whatnot too :3. Cool fan redesigns too! I also have seen a lot of neat headcanons, a lot of which I’ve adopted. I also appreciate the Captain N reunion stuff for the most part, it’s pretty wholesome.

8. “What’s something the fandom does with this character that you don’t like?”

I’ve seen a lot of comics, especially around when Smash Bros Ultimate came out, that were really… weird. I think all of them could kinda be boiled down to “old = bad” in the way that the artists probably just found out he was from the 1600s and then decided to make him the Boomer to Richter’s Gen Z for whatever reason (ya know despite Richter being from the 1700s but anyway). Simon would either be the jerk in the situation and/or the butt of the joke. I don’t think that Simon would have any issue with any of the female characters’ outfits let alone start harassing them for it. I saw some comics that made fun of him for not speaking very much in some genuinely disgusting ways too. Like making him not able to read or practically just the generic caveman stereotype. Especially in cases where the artist would depict other silent NES protagonists really nicely after making Simon out to be a complete idiot and asshole. There was also the trend of making him generally be all “oh no witchcraft!!!!!!!!!! What sin!!!!!!! The horror!!!!!!!!” about like anything and everything. I guess a lot of this comes from Smash Bros fans not usually being fans of Castlevania, but I’ve seen it in the Castlevania fandom too just less frequently. There’s also the “Simon has no story” thing oof. I’ve seen people tell people to skip his games or play fan games instead before :(

9. “Could you be roommates with this character?”

Realistically, no, my room is too small for another person :(. If that wasn’t an issue, then yeah probably :).

Too many oh my god. I think he probably makes things. That’s a very vague sentence lol, but think like armor, knives, general woodworking, all his necklaces and headbands and stuff, etc. He generally seems like he keeps to himself and lives mostly alone, so I can see him doing all that by himself. He keeps some bones and teeth of things he hunts most of the time. A lot of people have him as the most super Christian of the family, but I see him as like Christian but really not organized or strict about it, if that makes sense? I’ve seen someone else describe the Belmonts as like “Christopagan” before and yeah I think that fits. Idk why but I have consistently drawn him with his cross necklace in his mouth sometimes. I headcanon him as semiverbal (I think that’s the correct term for it, basically like inbetween speaking and nonspeaking). I like to think he’s like really average height for the 1600s cause he’s about as tall as other townspeople and skeletons and stuff. Which is funny cause that’d make him like 5’5-5’7 ish and that’s kinda short in modern day lol. And I guess that makes his 8bit sprite being used all the time make more sense XD. I have way more, I didn’t even get into Simon’s Quest related ones, but I don’t wanna make this too long aaaaaaaaaaaa

13. “What’s an emoticon that reminds you of the character or you think they’d use a lot?”

Ok this is funny cause I actually do have one for this and it’s got context. It’s the “:3”. So I was watching a bunch of people’s playthroughs one night cause I was bored and ran into a channel with a toooooon of speedruns of maps from Harmony of Despair. Whenever they’d get to a boss battle they’d use the typing feature just to go “hi” with a different cutesy emoticon every time, but when they got to Dracula they specifically went for the “hi :3” and then went “oh no :(“ when Dracula started attacking and now that’s the way I think he’d text I guess.

14. “Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character”

How does one properly explain how much this guy slays in one aesthetic term—

Oooooo, in canon probably like his wife (Selena) and/or the Mysterious Woman (who could be the same character depending on what theories you go by), but outside of that Simon Belmont x Getsu Fuma and I can’t even explain exactly why, but it’s pretty cute.

16. “What’s your least favorite ship for this character?”

Any BelmontXBelmont shipping ugh, it’s unfortunately really common on some places… also the whole Lucas or Pit or whatever other child character thing the smash bros fandom had ugh. I guess I also just don’t see the appeal of shipping any of the Belmonts with Dracula.

17. “What’s a ship you don’t hate but it’s not your favorite?”

I’ve also seen people ship him with Solid Snake, Palutena, or Bayonetta before. Ummm he doesn’t really have a lot of other characters he’s shipped with tbh. Idk I saw someone ship him with one of the priests from Simon’s Quest once.

Unfortunately he doesn’t really talk to people enough in game to form canon relationships 😔

I don’t even know if I can answer this one for the same reasons as the above 💀💀💀. I guess the townspeople hating the hell out of him, but I don’t hate that cause it’s kinda integral to the plot???? Yeah idk lol

Simon and Shanoa would get along a lot I think. Sara too. Hmmmm… I think he and Alucard would probably also be good friends. Christopher too for many reasons. Simon just really needs friends my poor dude is out here in Dracula’s Castle and the Romanian countryside after being cursed alone like this poor guy :’(

21. “If you’re a fic writer, what’s your favorite thing to do when writing this character? What’s something you don’t like?”

I have not written much at all, however what small comics I have done I looooove to make sure to sprinkle in whatever symbols he has in the games into it. He has a lot of cool things ranging from like rose thorns to The Hanged Man card and a lot of them end up meaning things like martyrdom and whatnot idk I made a post about it a while ago :3. I also like specifically Simon’s Quest speculation stuff, like what if scenarios for the vague, left open spots of it. If it’s not something super angsty or lore heavy, it’s usually just wholesome character interactions or doodling him being comforted by Christopher or Trevor cause I was sad or something lol. As far as things I don’t like writing uh idk that’s hard, maybe just any kind of filler scenes cause I’m not very good at those oof. Dialogue is hard too 💀💀💀

22. “If you’re a fic reader, what’s something you like/don’t like to see in fics?”

I’ve mentioned a lot of things I don’t like seeing in uh question 8, but things I do like is when people really try to go full horror with him. I’ve seen some Simon’s Quest fics (sadly there’s very few :’3) that really try to get that same feeling of anxiousness and dread the game does and I love that honestly. It’s a really dark story in the series! I also saw one that went psychological horror with it with him kinda losing himself a little at night it’s just ough it’s cool :D! Simon is a horror protagonist! Make him afraid!!!

23. “Favorite picture of this character?”

Again, too many!!! X3

24. “What other character from another fandom reminds you of them?”

Not from fandoms I am in (yet, hopefully I’ll get into these), but Ragnvaldr from Fear and Hunger I’ve heard is just directly inspired by him and Alfred from Bloodborne also, to me, seems heavily inspired by him. The whole Vilebloods section seems very Castlevania inspired tbh. From other fandoms I’m in, that’s hard to say, there’s not really any I don’t think.

25. “What was your first impression of this character, is it the same as now?”

Well I got into Castlevania through Smash Bros and at first was completely indifferent about him, he was just kinda fun to play as. Then Richter got me to play SotN and actually get into the series more. I had no idea I had SotN on XBOX360 for a long time, but that made it pretty easy to start playing. And now I am absolutely hooked and Simon is my favorite character so uh yeah X3.

26. “Freebie!”

I guess I just say anything? Ok, I am currently half trying to cosplay Simon’s Simon’s Quest design rn! I have like everything but the armor, but I’ll have to wait a while to be able to get materials for it oof. But yeah :). Hopefully that works out.

“Alright! “Operation: Birthday Bash” is a go! Mwahahaha! Major intelligence agencies all across the world are currently waking up to a malware virus that I just sent to their servers!*giggles* It's nothing too bad. All it's going to do is forcibly take control of their speaker systems and play “Never Gonna Give You Up” on repeat all day. Take that you fuckers!”

“Hi Mama, Papa, Nii-san. It's me. I’m doing alright, just turned 23, but I'm sure you all knew that.*sighs* Lately, I've been thinking about what my life would be like if the accident never happened. “A string of numbers? Wait, are these what I think they are? Fuck…Yuriko that place is literally one of the best guarded networks in the world. I could spend years attempting to hack it as Delphi, and even then, I would only be able to make a dent in their firewall. Literally, the only ones allowed to have access to that place are the top and, I mean, top dogs of the underworld. So why? Why give this to me? Why give me access to… somewhere where I make the worst of my genius blossom to life with no consequences? A storm, huh? You can count on me, Yuriko. I promise.”

“No wait Kanra! *crunch* K-K-Kanra it seems like your birthday hugs get stronger every year huh? My ribs certainly can tell. Oh, what are we waiting for then? You know I love your cakes Kanra! Hahaha! Okay, then what did you get me?”

“Pfffffftt! Kanra that thing is nearly as tall as you are! Hahaha! No, but seriously Kanra thank you. I've always wanted one of these. How did you even get one anyway? This thing is kinda of expensive. *wheeze* Kanra please! You can't treat a fight like it's a Pokémon battle. Hahaha! Never change Kanra.”

“A.D.A! There you are! You're even in your android body, too! So I can only assume you have something special planned for me today. A.D.A…your grin is kind of scaring me. The last time you grinned like that, you didn't let me have coffee for 2 weeks. Oh gods, you are banning me from coffee again! A.D.A, please! I need coffee to survive! A.D.A…you’re still not filling me with confidence, but alright, what did you get me?”

“Uhhh…A.D.A? This is just a piece of paper with a time and a set of directions on it. Of course a…A.D.A WHAT DO YOU MEAN DATE??? Y-y-you…dinner…him…error…error…asdkhgkjiwenfkdklyyxgsitzfzjfzkfoxyoaryhdftwehadghffnjkelfhewnejwnjb…*faints*”

As you know, there's the black market which even a regular citizen can get access to if they look hard enough and then there's █ █ █ █ █ █ █. A global network of various dealers and brokers, hidden behind a series of codes and unknown numbers. Where only the truly dangerous lie, both people and items. It’s so well hidden that not even the various governments are aware of its existence, or if they do, all they know is rumors. Kaoru, I won't lie. A storm is brewing and heading our way. I’m not sure when or how, but I’ll be damned if I don't do everything in my power to make sure the three of us survive. If that means giving you access to someplace where you can be the worst version of yourself, then so be it. I know Kaoru, I know.”

Kanra Lines:

“Happy Birthday Kaoru! *hugs* Eh? Sorry! Guess I got a little too excited. Ah! Nevermind that! Come on Kaoru! I have your birthday cake in the kitchen! First I have to give you your present! I hope you like it!”

“Ta-da! Your very own giant Mareep doll! It is not! I can see over it! Hm? Oh right. So every time I beat someone unconscious I rummage through their wallets and steal all the cash they have on them. Why not? Winner’s rights! If people wanna pick a fight with me they better be prepared to fork over some cash when they lose!”

Digimon Adventure 02 (Blind Watch) - Episode 34

Meh, this one was kind of weak. In fact, the plot is starting to feel a little too random to me. The Archnemon/Mummymon's plan is basically just "destroy these holy point thingies because mwahahaha." Like, they don't even really know what they do. And then BlackWarGreymon is kinda just aimlessly going through the motions not sure what he's doing is right. It's just like...I don't really care lol. Can't wait to move on from this arc.

Digimon introduce: None. But...there was that weird dragon-like digimon in the distortion. We just don't know its name yet.

Notes:

-The whole premise of this episode where Iori is agonizing over how he doesn't understand Takeru was kinda dumb. He's like "angry Takeru, kind Takeru, which is the REAL Takeru??" Uh...people are three dimensional Iori. It's not that confusing actually. Also, is hating darkness really that questionable?

-I realized that the whole Jogress evolution thing is a good time saver since they can essentially do 2 evolutions in 1. Anything that cuts down on stock animation is a plus in my book!

-Archnemon and Mummymon have quickly become quite one-note. I feel like they could do more with their characters but they're starting to feel like Team Rocket...

-So we get a plot twist where Angemon evolves into HolyAngemon instead of doing a Jogress evolve with Ankylomon. That was probably the most exciting part of the episode. For starters, apparently the holy stones can evolve digimon, but does it just work on Angemon because he's holy? Second, the I'm glad they're drawing out the Iori/Takeru Jogress a little longer, especially since the boys haven't bonded enough yet.

-The explanation of the multiple worlds distorting and combining was interesting and nice and simple for once. I guess it's a different concept from a multiverse since there aren't alternate versions of the characters in each worlds. If there's a "real" and "digital" world, what could the other worlds be I wonder...

Ch.63: Silent Seeker of Knowledge

Paimon: Hellooo? Haypasia? Hey, there's nobody here... Hmm, maybe she went out to look for some food. Let's try looking around the area!

Paimon turns around and leaves the cave

Faint Sound: Clatter...

Aether/Y/n: "What was that sound? It sounds like it's coming from inside the cave..."

They walked further into the cave and looked around, finding an unconscious Haypasia.

Aether/Y/n: "It's Haypasia! Is she okay?"

Them and a mysterious little creature walk toward Haypasia at the same time from different angles and see each other upon nearing Haypasia as they ran into the curious being again, it seemed to have been given quite a fright.

???: !?

The mysterious little creature leaps into the air and disappears as Paimon returns

Paimon: There you are. Haypasia! Are you alright?

Haypasia: Uh, ughhh... So hungry... *cough* Need... water...

Y/n: *kneeling in front of her* She looks famished, though she somehow has more energy than I expected.

Paimon: There's no way we can get her to eat in her current condition. Let's try finding some water first.

They turn around

Paimon: Huh? Wait! Why does it look super foggy outside all of a sudden? Anyway, let's go look around!

After exiting the cave

Paimon: Huh? How'd things out here end up looking like this? Wh—What happened!? And where are we?

Aether: Relax, Paimon. There must be a logical explanation for all this.

Paimon: Really? Oh, maybe you're right... Let's go investigate the area.

As they investigated further, they had to unlock and enter a bunch of different areas, puzzling them even more about the situation they're facing, soon they entered an upper platform where they encountered an Abyss Herald.

Abyss Herald: Hahaha! Well, well, well. Looks like we meet again!

Paimon: Ah! The Abyss Herald! What are you plotting to do in this strange place?

Abyss Herald: Strange place? Plotting? Hehehe... You needn't worry about such things, they don't concern you!

Around 20 seconds after the Abyss Herald initiates Dark Descent

Paimon: Huh? Wh—Why can't we beat this guy...? Paimon doesn't get it. We've faced others like him before — what's wrong this time?

Abyss Herald: Though you may have managed to avert countless crises before, your good fortune was bound to end sooner or later. It's time you realize how weak and powerless you really are!

Aether: Our journey will not end here! I still must find my sister!

Abyss Herald: Your sister? Mwahahaha! Oh, pitiful Traveler, are you really so ignorant? Or are you just living in complete denial? Her Highness has long since forsaken you. Your meager existence in her eyes is that of an annoying bug only to be stepped upon! The bonds of love and family which drive you to find your sibling are utterly gone! Your journey is meaningless! But don't you fret now. Today will be your last. Now die!

Aether/Y/n: Ugh! Huh... "What was all that just now? Strange... It feels like I was just dreaming for a moment there, but I can't remember what I saw..."

Paimon returns

Paimon: Hmm, what do we do? We haven't seen Haypasia anywhere out here... Oh, there she is! Quick, let's see how she's doing.

Haypasia: So sweet... Mmm...

Paimon: Well, the good news is that she's still conscious. Hey! Why'd you guys drop her food on the floor like that!?

Y/n: Sorry, we uh... kinda zoned out for a second there.

Paimon: Uh, are you guys okay? That's really not like you... Anyways, we can talk about this later. We'd better make sure she's alright first. Whoa, wait a sec! Look at all this fruit lying around her. We can put that to good use!

After giving the semi-conscious Haypasia some water and fruit juice...

Haypasia: Ugh... Who's there!? Tighnari, is that you? *sees Aether, Y/n, and Paimon* Ah! Huh?

Paimon: It's okay, you can relax, Haypasia. Tighnari sent us here to bring you some food and water. Here, we have a letter that he asked us to give you.

They gave Haypasia the letter from Tighnari.

Haypasia: I see, so you're friends of Tighnari. I apologize for all the trouble I've caused you. I'm grateful that you came so quickly to save me. You even brought all this fruit.

Paimon: Uh well, actually, we didn't bring the fruit. It was already here when we arrived. We were kinda wondering about that, actually. When we found you here, there was all this fruit lying around and even some juice dripping from your lips... Uh, how did you end up like this anyway?

Haypasia: Oh? Really? Hmm, I seem to understand now. All the fruit was likely from my, uh... neighbor. Must have come by and saw me like this.

Paimon: Your neighbor? You mean there's someone else living nearby?

Y/n: Is it a little round creature?

Haypasia: Oh? So you're able to see them, too?

Aether tells Haypasia and Paimon everything that happened after entering the cave.

Paimon: Wait, hold on a second! You say that before we arrived, you and Y/n saw some mysterious creature and suddenly had a strange dream? Isn't that a little too crazy to believe?

Haypasia: No, I actually do believe what the Traveler is saying. I myself had a similar experience once before and ended up scaring my timid, little neighbor here. You needn't worry — he means you no harm. He only dragged you into the dream because he hoped to buy himself a little time in order to scurry away.

Paimon: So Haypasia, just what kind of creature is your neighbor exactly?

Haypasia: I'm not sure what it's called, to be honest... But I do know that they have some sort of deeper connection with the Dendro Archon. I know this because the first time I saw them was also the exact day my consciousness was able to form a connection with Irminsul.

A flashback begins narrated by Haypasia

Even after I opened my eyes and stopped meditating, my heart was still pounding, and my mind was racing with all the knowledge that I had touched. And at that very moment, I suddenly noticed a small figure at the opening of the cave. In my curiosity, I began to walk over to the creature. They must have already been used to me living in the cave because they didn't seem to mind me approaching them. They just kept doing whatever they were up to. It wasn't until I crouched down next to them that they suddenly realized that I could see them.

The flashback ends

Paimon: Oh, and then?

Haypasia: And then, I had a dream... By the time I came to, they were nowhere to be seen. I was convinced they'd never show up again, but sure enough, I saw them nearby a few days later... and they weren't alone. I feel like they aren't as afraid of me as the first time I approached them, but I never would have expected them to save me.

Y/n: Sounds like a great neighbor.

Haypasia: Yes, no doubt about that. By the way, Tighnari mentioned in his letter that you had questions for me regarding Irminsul...

A Curious Sound: *rumbling*

Haypasia: Ehehe... Sorry about that. Sounds like just drinking juice still isn't quite enough for my stomach.

Paimon: Well, if two people hadn't dropped the food earlier...! Ugh, anyway, looks like we'll need to prepare something ourselves. Besides, Paimon's getting hungry too! Let's eat first and talk about Irminsul later. Alright, we're up! Today's menu will feature Sweet Madame and a Radish Veggie Soup! You'll love them, Haypasia. They're our specialties, after all!

Haypasia: *drooling* Oh, I've never tried any dishes from other nations before. I certainly look forward to it! It's been so long since I've had a decent meal, too. To be honest, the last time had to be when Tighnari came to visit.

After a delicious meal together, Y/n told Haypasia about her and Aether connecting with Irminsul...

Haypasia: Even though everything you mentioned was in Tighnari's letter, it's still hard to believe you both were able to connect with Irminsul... immediately after smelling Spirit Borneol for the first time. It took me nearly three years before I could do so... And everyone at the Akademiya even lauded me as a genius. You should know that some researchers spend their entire lives without ever successfully connecting with Irminsul as you have.

Paimon: So why does this incense allow people to connect to Irminsul?

Haypasia: The ingredients used to make Spirit Borneol primarily consist of plants created by Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. These special ingredients are conducive to heightening our senses to the Dendro Archon's power. Since the root of the Dendro Archon's power lies within Irminsul, we can occasionally tap into her powers to peer into the depths of the earth.

Aether: I think I understand.

Y/n: *nods*

Haypasia: Naturally. Anyone who can establish a connection with Irminsul on their first ever attempt must be a person of great understanding.

Paimon: Hmm, makes sense... But Paimon's got a question! Why were they sensitive to the smell of those plants for such a long time?

Haypasia: That was primarily due to their body's unique constitution. Stimulated by the incense, they could perceive the Dendro Archon's power and experienced a sensory overload, hence the adverse reactions. Taking in any scent similar to the ingredients of Spirit Borneol would cause adverse effects. Not to worry, though. It appears you have already fully recovered. Technically, your body should still be sensitive to the powers of the Dendro Archon, but unless you are using intentional meditation techniques, the scent of Spirit Borneol should no longer trigger such reactions.

Paimon: Whew, well, that's a relief.

Haypasia: I must admit, I am quite envious of your abilities. Even if it meant suffering from pounding headaches for the rest of my life, I'd consider it worthwhile so long as I could connect with Irminsul at will.

Paimon: Whoa, you're really serious about this whole thing, aren't you?

Haypasia: Haha, I am a researcher, after all.

The mysterious little creature seems to be at the entrance of the cave, almost as if it's listening in

Haypasia: As a member of the Rtawahist Darshan at the Akademiya, my main area of research is the stars and their connection to the fate of living beings. But there is still so much we don't know, especially regarding the mysteries that lie in the starry skies. Which is why I must turn to the all-knowing Irminsul for answers. If only my perception wasn't so limited... Unfortunately, I can not guarantee that my every attempt to attune with Irminsul will be successful or that doing so will leave my consciousness intact. I am currently in the stage of training known as "Satyavada Life." Many researchers in Sumeru have lost their minds while seeking to attune with Irminsul during this stage.

The mysterious little creature is still at the cave's entrance, confirming that it was listening in

Haypasia: Sages have said that Irminsul contains divine knowledge, and touching such knowledge without the proper preparations and abilities will only lead to one's mind caving in on itself. That's why we meditate alone. We need to ensure that our minds will be calm while minimizing the possibility of involving anyone else.

Paimon: Whoa, so knowledge from Irminsul can be super dangerous! Don't you ever feel afraid of the risk, Haypasia?

Haypasia: Of course I do, especially during nights that are pitch black with no moonlight and dead silent without even the sound of insects.

Haypasia turns to the cave entrance, and the mysterious little creature jumps and disappears

Haypasia: However, I've been feeling better as of late. I don't get as scared anymore knowing that I have a little neighbor living nearby. I believe that being able to see them is a sort of blessing from the Dendro Archon. Heh, but what's strangest of all is that they're clearly an envoy of the God of Wisdom herself, and they have the curious power to make people dream.

Paimon: What's so strange about that? It doesn't sound so out of place for a divine being, does it?

Haypasia: Well, it's strange because nearly nobody in Sumeru can ever dream.

Y/n: Huh? Is that true?

Haypasia: Yes... Well, to an extent. Only children can dream in Sumeru. Adults, however, never do. The sages say that wisdom implies rationality, but that which occurs in dreams is often neither rational nor logical

Aether: Reminds me of the dream we saw from the Aranara... It was a big, chaotic mess...

Haypasia: Yes, if one struggles with anxieties, those emotions could influence their dreams. The fact that the people of Sumeru do not have dreams is seen as a blessing by the sages. They believe that Greater Lord Rukkhadevata, the God of Wisdom, is keeping us away from the foolish delusions you encounter in your sleep. I was born into a family of scholars in Sumeru City. Ever since I was a child, my parents would always tell me that I'll know I've grown up once I stop dreaming. I studied hard, enrolled as a student in the Akademiya, and went on to become a researcher. *sigh* Sure enough, I never dreamed again. But then, on the day, I scared the little Aranara... I suddenly saw a dream again. It was incredible. Though I don't exactly remember what I saw, I clearly recall the feeling... I suddenly felt like I was a child again. Back then, I was foolish and ignorant as any youth would be, but I was free of fear... Maybe dreaming isn't as bad as we've made it out to be.

Y/n: "True though, I do get nightmares most of the time, I do get nice dreams, but still, it's horrible not being able to dream once you're an adult"

Haypasia: Ahem... Just be sure not to speak of this if you travel to Sumeru City. They'll look at you as if you've lost your mind.

Paimon: So, do you have any thoughts about the things they saw when they connected with Irminsul?

Haypasia: Sorry, I'm afraid I don't have any answers as of now. All I can say is that what you saw is a memory contained within Irminsul itself. Hmm... "world... forget me..." What could that possibly mean? Agh, if only I could ascend past Satyavada Life and begin Paripurna Life, I might have some more answers for you. *sigh* If you two are ever in the area again, please be sure to come and see me.

Y/n: Thanks, Haypasia! We wish you luck in your endeavors.

Haypasia: There's no need to be thanking me. You three are my saviors! Besides, I'm already looking forward to tasting some more of your cooking, hehe.

They continue chatting before settling down for a good night's rest.

Paimon: Now that we know Haypasia is alright and had the chance to ask her some questions, Paimon thinks it's about time to head back to Gandharva Ville.

Ghulam: Think about it, Tighnari. Refusing to join is tantamount to burying your head in the sand! I understand that you're a Forest Watcher and that it's your duty to combat the effects of Withering Zones, but isn't it evident that such work is not a lasting solution to the problem? As Sage Khajeh clearly stated, your presence and guidance in Sumeru City is pivotal in finding a cure for Irminsul. How could you possibly refuse!?

Khajeh: Keep your emotions in check, Ghulam. Let's at least listen to Tighnari's reason for declining. We're here to invite him to the Akademiya, not to cause a scene.

Tighnari: Sage Khajeh, I am truly honored that you came here in person, but I'm afraid I must still decline your invitation. I am merely a Forest Watcher. How could the great minds of the Haravatat have any need of someone like me?

Khajeh: Haha, well, it turns out that your refusal letter had some implications on your master's reputation. He is a renowned Sage of the Amurta, after all. So now, I've come here in his stead.

Tighnari: I see. Huh... Well, I figured that, given his temper, he would come here and berate me personally.

Khajeh: Tighnari, your master is an integral part of this effort, and now he requires your assistance.

Tighnari: And what exactly does my master need of me, Sage Khajeh?

Khajeh and Ghulam exchange looks

Khajeh: You'll know once you've arrived in Sumeru City, that is.

Tighnari: And how long will I be required to stay?

Khajeh: There's no definite answer as of now.

Tighnari: Do you mean to tell me that despite coming all the way here to Gandharva Ville, you still can't answer the questions I laid out in the letter to my master? If that's the case, then I'm afraid I can not give you a definite answer either.

Ghulam: Tighnari! But you—

Khajeh: *sigh* So be it... Come, Ghulam, we're leaving.

Ghulam, Khajeh, and the others take their leave. As the trio walks past the departing group as only Khajeh and Ghulam look at them, especially, Y/n.

Paimon: Uh Tighnari, what was that all about?

Tighnari: It's nothing. Some people from the Akademiya wanted me to go to Sumeru City to assist them with a project, but I had to refuse on account of all my responsibilities here. But all that can wait, how did things go with Haypasia?

Paimon: It was quite the eventful trip! But the main thing is that she's safe and sound. She answered a bunch of questions for us, too.

Tighnari: Very good. Now that Aether and Y/n have made a full recovery, there shouldn't be any reason for you to tarry here longer. I assume you will be heading to Sumeru City, correct?

Paimon: That's right! We want to meet Lesser Lord Kusanali and ask her for advice. Do you have any idea on how we can find her?

Tighnari: Sorry, I'm afraid I don't have any advice for you there.

Y/n: Well, do you at least know anyone we can try asking in Sumeru City?

Tighnari: Hmm, let me think... My trips to Sumeru City have been fairly short, and most of my acquaintances are researchers... Oh, how about this... I'll write you a letter of introduction that you can give to a researcher I know. He's from the Amurta Darshan and is adept at gathering information. Asking him might prove worthwhile. Also, when you enter Sumeru City, you'll probably end up receiving something like this item here. *holding a leaf like object* I'm not sure if it will ever come in handy for you, but maybe you can give it a try.

Paimon: Oh? What is it?

Tighnari: It's called an Akasha Terminal. It's a tool produced by the Akademiya that utilizes the legacy of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. Some say that this item is the very basis of Sumeru's reputation as the City of Wisdom. Needless to say, this device and its usage fall under the Akademiya's expertise, so I'll leave it to them to show you how to use it.

Paimon: Great! Next stop, Sumeru City! Ah, but wait, before that...

Y/n: We need to say goodbye to Collei.

Paimon: That's right! Tighnari, we have something important to say to Collei before we leave. Is she doing better now?

Tighnari: Yes, she's doing much better. After being confined to her bed all this time, I thought a little walk would do her some good. Last I saw her, she was taking the path towards the north crossing. She knew you three would be leaving soon, so she must have wanted to see you off.

Paimon: Thanks, Tighnari! Alright, let's go.

Tighnari: Farewell, and good luck to you three.

Collei: Ah, I've been waiting for you three. I, uh... Well... ugh, never mind. I guess I should just wish you three a safe and successful journey.

Paimon: Thanks for waiting here just to see us off, Collei. We're headed to Sumeru City.

Y/n: Please take care of yourself, Collei.

Collei: Don't worry about me, big sister Y/n, I can take care of myself. My condition won't be getting in the way of my duties. I want to be a Forest Ranger, after all! It's up to me and the others to protect the rainforest here. And uh, well I'm sorry... I should have told you both about my condition when we first met. I just wanted you two to treat me as a normal friend, not some girl that needs your sympathy... But I guess now I understand that the most important thing is for friends to be genuine with one another.

Paimon: There's no need to apologize, Collei! We should be thanking you for trusting us enough to be your friends and sharing your past with us. We're probably still gonna worry about your condition, but that's because we're friends, and we care about you!

Collei: Thank you, that means a lot... Uh, before you leave, I have something for you.

Paimon: Oh? What is it?

Collei: It's my recipe for Pita Pockets! I told you that I'd give you a copy, remember? My handwriting is a little messy, so please don't laugh.

Paimon: Yay, thanks, Collei! Now we can eat those scrumptious little pitas whenever and wherever we like! And they'll be extra delicious if Y/n makes them!

Collei: I hope that whenever you eat them, you'll both remember your time here in Gandharva Ville.

Aether: Of course, we will!

Collei: Well then, I, Trainee Forest Ranger Collei, bid you three farewell. Please visit Gandharva Ville again. The rangers will always be ready to assist you here.
