A very vague summary of what was in the Hazbin leaks
Last night, part of what compelled me to seek out the leaks was the anxiety of not knowing what was in them and if any of my favorite characters were involved. Thankfully, there was only one huge bomb dropped, and the rest was stuff that we either knew would happen eventually or isn't too big a deal, plot-wise. My goal with this post is to give an extremely vague, factual overview of what was in the leaks so no one else feels compelled to search them out to assuage their own anxieties, or gets caught up in a game of fandom telephone.
The leaks contained...
The reveal of who Alastor got his power from. Includes one song. A mix of stuff that was already confirmed in pre-series content and new information. (Do not click on any B&W animatic clips that include Alastor unless you want to be spoiled)
Sir Pentious’ human backstory (it’s a little unusual, but nothing too wild, don’t worry)
Scenes of Heaven struggling to come to terms with Sir Pentious’ ascension; includes three songs (nothing huge or unexpected)
The introduction of two new Heavenly characters (they seem like they’ll be important, but aren’t anyone mind blowing like God or one of the archangels)
Very brief clips of the Vees trying to use the media to misrepresent the hotel (nothing huge or unexpected)
Various out-of-context storyboard frames and ref sheets
There are also two “leaks” that are confirmed to be fake: one frame of Husk and Angel Dust kissing, and a Russian script exert of Vox preparing to sexually assault Alastor. If you see anyone talking about these as though they’re real, please let them know that they’re not.
Note: The episodes that were subject to this leak are E2, E4, E6, E8. So far, the entirety of E2, ten minutes of E4, a few seconds of E6, and only two contextless frames from E8 are available. There’s still plenty of plot/character stuff that’s yet to be revealed. Hopefully nothing else will leak and we’ll be able to go into the season relatively unspoiled.

I know it's late to say, but I hope that Hbomb's video will encourage people to not only cite their sources but also have a good source to begin with. Don't tell me Snow White is 14 years old and then show a screenshot of a featured snippet from Google that leads back to Screenrant.com. Don't tell me Judy Garland was forced to take drugs and smoke 80 cigarettes a day by MGM and have your source be social osmosis or "Hundreds of other videos say so!" Where's that info from? Does it's source truly make sense as a source? Are there more reliable routes for sources to take outside of looking online, like reading books about the subject from people involved or seasoned/trusted in the topic? I know "Google is free", but that doesn't mean it's always good for research. Try Google Scholar at least...

I have seen a lot of comments recently saying that compared to Esteban, his teammates were able to adapt quicker to their new team. But context is very important when discussing Esteban's 2020 season, so here are a few points I would like to make:
• He spent about a year and a half not racing and barely had any testing with an F1 car during 2019. If I remember correctly, Renault gave Fernando a lot of testing in both the 2018 and 2020 cars in 2020.
• He only had 2 full seasons in F1 prior to joining Renault whilst his teammates in Renault/Alpine had (7) Daniel, (17) Fernando and (5) Pierre. So experience-wise, Esteban had significantly less F1 experience compared to them when they first entered the team.
• 2020 wasn't a typical year (Covid obviously). The season was fast paced to include as much races as possible but also had to work within health and travel restrictions. The season was filled with double and triple headers where it became difficult to have time to assess and analyse data and adapt after race weekends, especially for someone new to a team, a new car and even a new engine manufacturer. Note that even the Imola race took place over a two-day race weekend, with one 90 min FP session. I don't remember if there were other race weekends like this.
• When Daniel had both his podiums, Esteban had technical DNFs during those races. During the year, he had a total of 4 mechanical DNFs while Daniel had 1. Thus, making the points difference between them more than it should be. Note that during these races, Esteban usually qualified 1 or 2 places behind Daniel bar the Styrian GP and Imola GP.
Final Points Tally: Daniel - 119; Esteban - 62
Points Tally on Races where both finished: Daniel - 73; Esteban - 58
For those curious, here are the qualifying grid positions during the 4 races Esteban DNF'd:
Styrian GP - DR: P9; EO: P5
Tuscan GP - DR: P8; EO: P10
Eifel GP - DR: P6; EO: P7
Imola GP - DR: P5; EO: P12 (Note: the Alfa Romeos who qualified P18 and P20 finished the race P9 and P10; Checo, who qualified P11 finished the race P6)

Man, it doesn't matter what the medium or fandom is, truly the debate that ruins fandom discussions the fastest is when people try to decide which characters "deserve" what. Especially when it comes to them deciding which characters are evil, how evil they are, and how severe their punishment should be for their evil deeds.
It's really annoying/harmful on multiple levels. For one, morally speaking, the line between "evil, but can repent/compensate for their deeds" and "evil, cannot be redeemed, suffer and die forever" is harder to define than you think, and who has the authority to define it anyways?
But also, fictional stories (especially the better, more nuanced, more mature ones) are rarely ever about "deserving" and don't divide their characters neatly between the "good" and the "evil." Every time I see fans debate about "how evil" a Problematic Fave is, or if Fave 1 is better/worse than Fave 2, all I see is people ruining their own fun and stirring up bad blood between other fans. Why would you add this dichotomy of "deserving" to a FICTIONAL story and start real life beef with people over it? At that point you're getting more invested in your discourse over imagined good/evil binaries than you are invested in watching/reading/consuming the actual story itself.
#squiggposting#honestly it gets to the point where i try to avoid fandom discourse for new things i'm into such as bg3#canon is crystal clear and then i walk into fanon discussions and it's like a funhouse mirror#fanon discussions and discourse get so wack they literally make me second guess shit i saw with my own eyes and ears#me playing bg3: yeah the themes of this are pretty clear i understand perfectly the emotions here are great#me looking at bg3 fandom discussions: what in the actual fuck is going on here. did we play the same game#it's also not helped by people who can't distinguish between canon and fanon#like. there's a difference bt things explicitly said by canon vs interpretations based on canon but not actually confirmed#there can be multiple different interpretations of a story. this is true and a very good thing#HOWEVER. ppl in fandom are often bad at distinguishing between canon information and their interpretation. it just adds more misinformation#if you're a veteran that actually knows the lore you end up stepping into discourse just to clarify:#no that isn't actually canon. it's based on this one thing that was said in canon but canon never actually says that.#you can INTERPRET THAT but the story never actually explicitly says it#just. what a fucking mess lmao. the best way to get accurate information on a story is to just play/watch/read it yourself#fandom cannot be trusted to 1. get lore factually correct 2. distinguish between canon facts and interpretation

saw a post going around claiming 53% of white female voters voted for Trump, but that statistic isn’t actually accurate- it’s based on exit polls of only ~27k voters. the real number is white women voted 47% for Trump, and 45% for Clinton- which is still bad, but it’s important to be accurate with this stuff.

taking a "collect as much information as humanly possible about the new hyperfixation" approach to fandom is terrible because you'll find yourself looking at people who do fandom in other ways and going "ugh what do you MEAN you don't know [random easily-missable piece of information given by a side character in supplementary material], it's so key to the themes and it's throwing off your whole character analysis >:/"
and they're literally just. chilling so you have to just bite your tongue

griping time but the other day i saw a video on instagram of this guy going through a popular unofficial online am-i-autistic quiz and talking about why the questions were really flawed (e.g 'one of the questions was 'do you hate ambulance sirens', you mean the things that are literally designed to be as annoying as possible??' 'one of the questions is 'do you enjoy collecting facts about your interests' and this is something literally everyone who has an interest does')
and all of the comments were like 'who's gonna tell him' and 'dude is so autistic he rationalized his way through a whole autism test' and it's like no you fucking dinguses, the dude was making some incredibly valid critiques about how memeified tiktok neurodivergence culture is built largely off of mass misinformation and barnum effect type overgeneralized statements that could apply to literally anyone (see: 'getting songs stuck in your head is a sign of adhd'). he was literally right!!!! the huge prevalence of 'if you have ever breathed it means you have trauma' style beliefs is exactly what he was critiquing and the comments assuming experiences every human has had are actually signs of neurodivergence were proving his point.

I need to finally admit that I only have so much time to write and thus need to decide & commit to writing one particular thing instead of researching everything forever in the hopes that I will one day have time to write All the things. You have no idea how nuanced my internal discussions on the topic have gotten at this point, though. The next post will be a poll on what to write or post about first.
#blog meta#i have. information#and i need to distribute this information#because the fact other people can't seem to do research and think about it annoys me#but i also acknowledge that i have the advantage of an academic and scientific background (albeit not in the field yet)#as well as an upbringing that prioritized both those things + research skills and critical thinking#so the best thing to do? write clear and accessible overviews that are well-researched and have proper bibliographies#because a lot of those pop-sci articles are worse than half the unsubstantiated claims i see on here...#and i happen to have the dedication to sift through scientific articles in order to fight the misinformation AND make the topic approachabl#going to set myself a deadline of 1 week because otherwise i will not do it timely#i can spend months writing a thing if left to my own devices#and in that case it becomes very comprehensive indeed BUT it also becomes book-length and completely inaccessible :(#because no one is going to reblog a 30k explanation with 100+ sources and that is what it would end up being#i am an over-researcher and an over-writer if there ever was one#so i will prioritize keeping things short and doing them timely#as well as post concepts that are inherently shorter and less formal#the most bang for your buck so to speak#especially when it comes to maximizing helpfulness (since people will not read and spread it otherwise)#but some of the things I want to talk about are inherently more in-depth#okay. rambling in tags time is over

Discussions of implied fictional CSA & SA
I recently been wondering if there’s a chance Richard thinks Roy’s aggressive and distant behavior is normal and not a sign of CSA because he acted similarly to Roy when he was younger
Reasonings in the tags
#Again TW for discussion/mentions of CSA/SA#I believe Richard was repeatedly SA by his brother throughout his childhood and early teenage years#He never realized it was SA because no one told him and pre-existing misinformation and harmful beliefs about SA#He unknowingly developed bad behaviors and coping mechanism from his CSA in his teenage years but nothing was really done#The school thought he was a rowdy troublemaker. His parents didn’t do jack to help him even after discovering the abuse because they-#worried more their reputations. And his friends didn’t know about the abuse either so they thought he was a rowdy kid and sometimes#Feed into his bad behaviors because they were dumb teenagers looking to have fun in the stupidest ways possible and not thinking of the-#consequences or why a kid like Richard was so mean and aggressive in the first place#I know this is a very sensitive topic and the fandom has all right to be hesitant about seeing how Roy’s truama was treated and#certain individuals approaching it terribly#However I don’t think the majority of the fandom understands how Roy’s SA is an integral part of his character. not only because it’s an-#canon explantation for his behavior but also being SA impacts EVERYTHING. how you look at the world. behaviors. relationships. etc#imo it’s feels weird to ignore it even if the original source treated it questionable#I am interested and do want to explore Roy’s story and the probable story of Richard too#Not only is it an integral part of Roy’s character that should be acknowledge more but also there’s an interesting story to tell about-#CSA/SA. how it affects everybody. and the different interpretations that can be written from it#I’m really interested in seeing a fanfic where Roy and Richard addressed their truama together. learn to heal. and become closer by the end#That being said I want to make it clear that when discussing these topics I still want to be respectful#If I ever handle it wrong or go to far. let me know. and if you have criticism for me regarding this. let me know too!#Again this is a very sensitive topic and I don’t want to contribute to the harm#spooky month#spooky month roy#spooky month richard#tw csa mention#tw csa#tw sa mention#tw sa implied#tw csa implied#tw sa#ChuchaYucca.text

I think the internet youth need to remember that they can - no, SHOULD - lie online.
Back in my day, I was a 40 yo man in Rhode Island who was a bartender. Sometimes I was a recent graduate of UCLA working on my first screenplay. Another time, in my omegle days, I would pretend to be a Lithuanian grandmother trying to contact her estranged YouTuber grandson who made omegle reaction videos. There were moments in my internet life, even here on tumblr, where I would blatantly lie about who I was, what I was doing, and where I was doing it.
Keep ‘em guessing, keep yourself safe.
