Tumblr media
blackbright body hcs andd the little rant!! i've been thinking about them and how i want to interpret their relationship . so i've decided that my drawings will feature an au where bobby was kidnapped and rescued a short time after turnabout for tomorrow. very important warning i need to do research and stuff for this, these are just my initial thoughts on the matter. stuff will probably change.
he and simon reunite, they had worked together 7 years ago on some cases and met again much later a week before bobby's abduction (which was a bit before the events on dual destinies). now that they're meeting once more, feelings are weird and complex.
the phantom has affected them both a lot, the trauma is fresh and simon didn't even get a chance to process his feelings of betrayal before bobby appears again and now he's feeling so many things at once he thinks he might die. they have a slowburn that also goes super quick ? how do i explain it.
after a month or two, they impulsively move in together because they can't stand how lonely their respective houses are. they're pretty much the only ones who can understand each other, they need each other a lot; but they also feel like running away and from the other and hiding forever.
simon needs constant reassurance that bobby is himself and not the phantom; on occasions he can't look at him in the eyes, he feels unsafe with him at times and has to leave and look for other's company and comfort. still, he also wants to cling to bobby and never let him leave again, to know him properly, to learn to love him healthily.
bobby on the other hand feels horribly guilty, responsible for the things the phantom had done and the damage he'd caused simon even before taking his form. the way simon looks at him sometimes makes him feel dangerous, but because of that he needs to be there for simon, to help him heal, to give him all the love he's been deprived of.
they have to work a lot on their problems, attend a lot of therapy and take some time off work, and, slowly but surely, learn to trust and love each other.
aaghdhs whatever these are just sketchy thoughts please don't be mean if you don't like them i will cry a lot and die
Tumblr media
same au, three years after aa5 just like in the previous picture because. i like to draw them healed and happy. but i will draw more of their process.
...about that, however, i won't be able to draw on my computer for like two weeks starting this saturday, since i'm going on vacation. i really hope i can buy a new drawing tablet when i come back, tho!
thank you if you read everything <3 wishing you all a happy new year in advance too!

What do you think about Jason's relationship (platonic!!! Father and son stuff. Still can't believe this ship exists. ) with Bruce? Should they even interact at all if DC only makes Bruce abusive and cruel towards him? Or do you ignore whatever is on those pages like it was always meant to be and like a lot of the fandom does?
(Personally, Bruce shouldn't be the best dad but he should never have raised his hand against his kids, unless during sparring and fighting off mindcontrol. The only exception I would make is shortly after Jason died and Bruce, out of his mind with grief, hit Dick who had kind of tried to comfort him. But everything else? Laughably out of character.)
Hello! Thanks for the ask friend!
Bruce and Jason's relationship is vastly complicated, but I personally don't think they should be on the best terms.
Bruce is very similar to Jason in that he's been written either okay or horrible by dc writers, but actual good characterization in the last like 10-15 years is pretty rare.
In terms of characterization of Bruce, I'm not as well-versed as I am with Jason, but I have a pretty good idea of how he should be. Bruce is heavily flawed. He has some significant childhood trauma that never got truly dealt with, leading to the creation of the batman. I also sense he has bpd or at least bipolar or something like that, as well as a superiority complex. He's also very stubborn and set in his ways and his instinct is that he's always right and everyone should do what he says. He's controlling and a hypocrite. But he has the best of intentions. He wants to keep everyone safe, he loves his kids and he just wants to protect people, but it has to be his way. I fully believe that Bruce never actually intends to hurt his family, but mental illness mixed with a need for control and a lack of socialization can lead to hurtful actions. In gotham war, Bruce truly believes that what he did to Jason was what was best for him, despite how crazy and abusive it actually was. After Damian died, he loved and grieved so much but didn't know how to handle it. He couldn't live without him so he did everything possible to bring him back, hurting his other kids in the process, but he didn't think he was seriously hurting his kids.
Jason is also very stubborn and a hypocrite. He has some substantial childhood trauma that also didnt get proper attention. he's not as hot-headed as certain characterizations of him like to say, but he is a VERY emotional and emotion-driven person. He thinks with his heart more than his head at times. He has very strong opinions and beliefs. He also loves his family and wants to protect people, mainly children and women, and he also believes that his way is the right way.
Bruce and Jason both think the other is wrong and neither want to compromise. And Bruce has done so much to Jason. And jason doesn't understand Bruce's pov because neither of them can actually communicate with each other in a healthy way and neither of them have healthy ways of executing their beliefs and morals, their actions don't always do their intentions justice.
So I think their relationship is strained. They're too similar and too different at the same time. They both have too many problems and don't take good care of their mental health, leading to some really unhealthy Coping mechanisms. But I do agree that some of things Bruce and jason have done have been super out of character and totally could be erased lol
Thanks for the ask friend!

Shipping call
(Not proofread)
This is a shipping call, If you're interested in your muse having a relationship with one of my ocs please comment or reblog with the name!
There's a 99% chance I'll accept. The only reasons I can think of that I won't are:
A) Your muses gender is not one which my characters are attracted to but this isn't really an issue because most of my characters are attracted to any gender. The only exceptions are Loki (Who is attracted only to men) and Nymira (Who is attracted only to women)
B) We've RPd before and I don't see our muses looking at each other that way. However this is unlikely.
When it comes to love interests I have some biases towards certain canon characters:
Kaeya for Veerle, Zhongli for Brighella/Loki, Dainsleif for Diederik, Arlecchino for Nymira, Kinich for Cardan, Scaramouche/Wanderer for Kito and Neuvillette for Hadrian.
But this is a multiship blog so there's no need to have these biases better you. On that note,
I'll allow multiple people to ship with my ocs, the relationships can be considered as different universes/timelines
Below is information about my ocs, how they act with their partner, their opinions on PDA and love languages
Tumblr media
—OC/character can be either male or female
—It's preferable if your oc can be patient, she needs time and help to process and understand her emotion
—I love her but she's incredibly oblivious to flirtation
—Neutral on PDA, she doesn't mind either way, if her partner likes it then sure
—Her love language(s): physical touch, quality time and acts of service
She isn't good with emotions or words and often relies on identifying the biological reactions to identify emotions. Since wolves often use body language to communicate I think she'd try expressing her feelings through touch. She also observes people to try and understand them, her partner would be no exception. Based on that she'll probably try and help them out, even with mundane tasks so she can spend more time with them.
Tumblr media
—OC/character must be male
—Fair warning, Loki is trauma on legs which makes it a little hard to have a fully healthy relationship. He's co dependent, has abandonment issues, and is afraid of opening up incase he scares his partner away with all his issues. Needs a lot of validation. Incredibly self destructive and like 0 self esteem. He thinks/knows he's pretty but only thinks that because his current form is a mixture of all his loved ones.
—His mind (And this applies to both platonic and romantic relationships) is a constant battle of "I will beg on my hands and knees if I have to but please, please, please don't labandon me" vs "I can't ask them not to leave, that would be selfish and make them feel guilty. I am a horrible person and they deserve so much better how could I ever burden them with having to deal with me more than they need to?"
—Lives in fear that his loved ones will see him like he sees himself (He isn't even that bad. He victim blames himself a lot)
—On the other hand he'd be a really sweet partner. Would 100% constantly look at your oc/character as if they were the stars themselves.
—Wife material tbh. He cooks, he cleans, he's good with kids.
—Completely whipped, would 100% burn down the world for their partner no hesitation.
—Yapper will yap. Especially about his partner. Whoever is near him when drunk better be careful because they're going to get an entire essay about how great your muse is lmao.
—Your OC/character should probably be okay with/like children because Loki adopts a lot of them and they are his whole world.
—Comfortable with PDA, infact i think he would prefer to be holding hands with his partner if they're out together
—Their love language(s): Honestly, any of them can fit for him. Acts of service not so much even though he can do it.
Physical touch: He's a clingy cat, I fear. Especially behind closed doors. Give him lots of kisses and cuddles, he is touch starved. He'll probably let his S/O pet his cat features. He also likes just holding hands or something.
Words of affirmation: He needs them. He needs them really badly. He needs to know he isn't being a burden or a bother. He needs to hear that his partner likes having him around.
Quality time: Like I said in the Physical touch section, he is a clingy cat. He loves spending as much time with his partner as possible. Honestly they can be doing anything but as long as Loki is with them, he doesn't care.
Gifts: He very much prefers giving gifts to receiving them. Your oc/character is about to be absolutely SPOILED. If they so much as look at a thing for too long, Loki will buy it for them without so much as a glance at the price tag. He isn't as big on receiving presents but he doesn't mind at all. Still, I put this one the lowest because even though he does it often it's not exactly from a place of love. It's more so that he feels more like a problem than a person and (subconsciously) is trying to compensate for basically just existing in their life. It's also out of a fear that he isn't good enough but maybe his mora will be (once again subconsciously)
Tumblr media
—OC/character can be any gender but they must be somebody Lena knows well, has known for a while, and trusts. Big slow burn here.
—Is a very firm believer of actions speak louder than words. Especially because words lie easier than actions.
—She cannot stand being lied to. Lying to her usually puts you all the way back at square 1 of trying to gain her trust.
—Would be preferable if your OC doesn't mind/likes children because she has a lot of little siblings who are her world
—Uncomfortable with PDA
—Her love language(s): Acts of service and quality time. Like I mentioned above, Lena is big on actions speak louder than words. Lena is not the most openly affectionate or cuddly person. She speaks very minimally and likes her personal space. At most would be the occasional "love you" or a hug on a bad day and some kisses here and there. She might provide physical touch or words of affirmation if her partner really needs them but not usually. She prefers showing her affection subtly in the little things. Despite her uncaring attitude she is very observant and takes note of the smallest things. Her partner seems tired? She'll make them some food and take care of any work they have left. Her partner tells her about some appliance not working? Boom, fixed. She also likes spending alone time with her partner, usually in her room or workshop. She is uncomfortable being vulnerable or showing affection in public. Maybe a kiss or two or some hand holding in front of family and close friends at most and thus prefers time alone with her partner so she can be soft and loving.
Tumblr media
—OC/character can be any gender
—They probably need to be immortal or live in the Abyss because he hasn't left the Abyss in give or take 500 years.
—Malewife material if he wasn't so sleepy all the time
—The sleepiness is because his powers are taking a toll on him
—A little easy to make jealous (blame the dragon)
—100% a total gentleman
—Comfortable with PDA
—His love language(s): Quality time, words of affirmation and physical touch
Listen, he doesn't mind doing things for his S/O but he's a lazy, tired boy. He likes to keep the physical movement to a minimum. I think he'd love to just cuddle with his partner all day long without a care in the world. He plays the lyre (and some other instruments but mostly the lyre) for fun when he isn't sleeping or busy and i can see him composing pieces for his S/O. He'll try to compose poems for them too only poor boy is really shit at writing poems. And he knows but he does it anyway, just for fun. He'll gladly shower his partner in praises and affection all the time. As long as your OC/character doesn't mind I think he'd enjoy giving his S/O rides on his back in dragon form. If his partner can fly then he likes flying alongside them.
Tumblr media
—OC/character must be female
—Huge trust issues with her, the slow burn is going to burn very slowly.
—Listen, all my ocs are a little twisted in the head but Nymira is the most plain about it. If she realises she's falling in love she'll panic and show you the worst sides of her in order to drive your muse away (Her last lover blinded her)
—She is a little batshit insane though. Like, make out over the dead bodies of the people she's killed/probably find it hot if her partner has somebody else's blood on them kind of insane. Only if her partner is comfortable with murder though.
—Your OC/character should probably be an animal lover because she has a lot, and I mean, a lot of animals.
—Will never, ever admit it but she needs affection and validation.
—She isn't uncomfortable with PDA but she isn't fond of it. She doesn't mind though if it's with people she knows and is comfortable with.
—Her love language(s): Acts of service & gifts
She's a menace in public but alone with her lover she's actually fairly sweet. I mean the poker face and snippy words don't go away completely but she's sweet in comparison to how she behaves around everybody else. Composed as she is on the outside, on the inside she's completely and utterly down bad for her partner. For all she makes fun of Loki for being whipped, she is too. She knows she can be a little mean and if she hurts her partner in any way she'll beat herself up over it for a while and then apologise. She's admittedly quite scared of vulnerability so she prefers to express affection through doing little things for her partner and spending her precious, hard earned mora on them.
Tumblr media
—OC/character can be any gender
—He's very reckless I fear
—Always comes home with cuts and minor bruises
—But he can and will also take care of his injuries
—He'll definitely try to cut down on getting hurt for his partner's sake butttt
—He's a trouble magnet
—Comfortable with PDA, infact he'd probably often ask his partner for a kiss for good luck before he does some extreme sport, regardless of where they are
—His love language(s): Quality time, physical touch
Emphasis on quality time. Cardan is not a character who likes being alone. Like sure he needs some time to himself occasionally, as does everybody but he much prefers to spend his time in the company of other people both loved ones and strangers. He's a pretty relaxed and fun loving guy, easy to get along with. He's friendly to everybody he meets, unless they've done something prior to upset him personally. Anyway, he is really passionate about skateboarding and extreme sports. It's fine if your oc/character is more on the timid (Not sure that's the right word) side but it think he'd really enjoy sports with his partner.
Tumblr media
—OC/character can be male or female but preferably male
—He's so smart but so dumb
—Completely whipped for his partner while simultaneously being a menace to them
—Hope your OC likes dragons because Mini Durin is his unofficial son
—Fair warning, he's been heavily influenced by Alice for a good portion of his life so he's chaotic af
—He definitely has a lot of secrets and keeps his cards close to his chest but the more your relationship progresses, the more he'll open up to you
—Will match his partner's freak without question
—Comfortable with PDA
—His love language(s): Physical touch
He doesn't care what he's doing he just wants to be around his partner as much as possible. He's had way too many people die on him and he's anxious about it happening to his partner too. His tounge has lied far too often and he doesn't feel like it's enough if he uses a tool for lying to tell your OC/character how much he loves and cares about them. So he does his absolute best to show it through actions instead. He'll definitely affirm you verbally but it's usually followed or accompanied by some sort of caress or physical contact. He might be a dragon but for his partner he's honestly just a big puppy.
Tumblr media
—OC/character can be any gender
—Merman loves going on swims with his partner
—If your OC/character can't swim he'll teach them
—He has a bunch of Fontemer Aberrants he tamed and he'll show them off to your OC/character
—He will also show his partner some random cool things he found at the bottom of the ocean
—Might make his partner some jewelry or something from pearls
—Be nice to the Melusines, they are his children
—Plays music for his partner. Maybe, just maybe they can convince him to sing for them too. (He's a siren)
—Neutral on PDA, he won't be the one to initiate it. If his partner likes it then sure, if not then that's fine too. It's all up to the other person
—His love language(s): Quality time, gifts, words of affirmation
He's pleasant enough in public, nor does he have anything against most people but his trauma has given him a bad habit of looking over his shoulder when surrounded by people (except for a select few) which is why he prefers alone time with his partner to bond and be affectionate without being distracted. Despite being mostly comfortable in social situations and when making friends, he's a pretty private person. He's also the therapist friend (who sometimes but not often takes the advice he gives other people.) He likes to take time out of his evening/night to just talk with his loved ones about their day and how they're doing (he's surrounded by traumatized people lmao). And he likes to do little things to make their day better when they're down. It's usually based on whatever love language the other person has. But he isn't great at articulating his own feelings and struggles and tends to focus more on other people.

I really, honestly thought I wouldn't be upset when my stepdad dies and I'm kind of bowled over by my feelings right now. I don't know how but apparently I can hate someone while also being deeply sad at the concept of their imminent death. I'm shocked that my instinct is to have sympathy for him and how so much of his life was difficult or unrealized, how he suffered as a child and never had the love or support he needed to battle all the things that turned him into such a horrible and abusive person as an adult, never introduced to the concept of self-improvement, didn't have any tools to begin with to better himself.
the abuse throughout my life and his inaction as an adult to make any effort to be a better person was entirely his fault but his default state of emotional and mental disarray was largely the fault of caregivers who didn't actually care about him and his health, or even really conceive of him as a person with his own inner life, thoughts, and workings. he clearly has always had some sort of emotional disorder and severe depression, but no one cared enough to address it even though his quality of life was abysmal. he was neglected, and wasted so much of his life in a state of violent anger.
there were rare instances where a situation and his behavior was so horrid that I would lose my instinct for self-preservation and fight back with a frightening intensity despite the consequences, and sometimes it caused him to become overwhelmed and start crying. my rage and indignation would disappear because all of a sudden id feel like I was looking at a toddler who didn't have any framework for regulating their emotions, only just barely beginning to learn how to think, feel, or act like a human. all I could feel was pity for him. as I got older one of my coping mechanisms was to regard him and his daily rages like a toddler with their first toothache having a tantrum because they can't conceive of why where and how they're hurting.
I'm both deeply sorry for the many, many ways the world failed him when it mattered most (especially because I too am cursed with genetically inherited mental illnesses, but I was able to get treatment for them), and deeply hateful of him - the person he was who made the childhood of my brother and I such a terror and caused us to be permanently separated from each other (to such an extent that my brother and i have only just started recovering our relationship, 20 years later), and the person he is now who has never done a single thing in the interest of helping us heal or contend with our trauma, almost as if none of it ever happened.
It's so fucking crazy. I don't want anything to do with him or this process of dying and being put to rest, but at the same time I'm scared that those who are dealing with this won't show him the sympathy needed to make his passing easy. we never had anything even close to a sentimental attachment throughout my life, and for the most part I spent my youth trying to avoid being in the same space as him. after everything, why do I want him to die easily?

It was only after being forced to sleep that Morgan realized how much they had missed it. They couldn’t remember if they had ever slept back in the wormhole for more than a few seconds; if they had, it hadn’t been restful at all.  Bone-deep exhaustion had been buried under mania and adrenaline as they continued to chase Atlas across a dying multiverse, and the pace had barely stopped once they had finally put it all behind them. Fortunately –or unfortunately, depending on how you looked at it- some of Morgan’s behavior could be written off as hallucinations from sleep deprivation.  Good because that meant that the medical staff didn’t remember; bad because the head doctor had even more of a reason to watch Morgan like a hawk.  Being monitored so closely inevitably lead to the discovery of scars and injuries that weren’t documented anywhere in their medical files. Specifically, the scar on Morgan’s left hand which had, unsurprisingly so, not healed correctly.   The doctor had sent some scar tissue samples off to be tested, holding Morgan in the medical bay for a few more days, the most anxious in recent memory. The tests had come back benign -which felt like a weight being lifted off their shoulders- and Morgan was released under orders to, at the very least, take the prescribed sleep medication.
As fate would have it, they were released at the beginning of the weekend (most likely to encourage them to spend the days resting), and Morgan found themself looking for Atlas. He checked up on them almost every day, even if it was just to examine the heart monitor or IV when he thought they weren’t awake.  Whenever Morgan was fully conscious, their interactions were clipped and formal with only a few anecdotes thrown in (Danny wishes you well.  Brian is as silent as ever, but I can tell he’s worried. Chica chased a bug; things like that). They hated it. It carved a hollow into their chest and made their stomach sink. But this wasn’t an issue that could be solved by just continuing the way they had been, they had to confront it.
It was just talking.  It wasn’t getting into a shootout with space pirates, jumping into wormholes, or being alone in the dark.  And yet, the closer they got to where thew crew said Atlas was hiding, the more anxious they became.  Morgan was tempted to go back to their cabin and slip on their uniform jacket, at the very least. The heavy cotton was like a suit of armor, in a sense. Putting it on gave people the impression that Morgan knew what the fuck they were doing, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.  But approaching Atlas in that jacket would defeat the point. They needed to be Morgan, not Captain.
“We need to talk.” They signed once they had his attention.
The argument, if it could so be called, was over. Not because one side had convinced the other that they were right, but because one side had greater authority by default.  Atlas would have accepted the “loss” even if Morgan passed out right then and there, despite how infamously stubborn he could be.
What more was there to be said, really? Continuing would inevitably cause them to spiral and they’d probably end up exposing just how deep their self-loathing went.   And then what? The crew would treat Morgan like they were a time-bomb made of glass, waiting on pin and needles for the emotional breakdown that would shred everyone around them into pieces. Atlas already did, and there was a part of Morgan that hated it.  They missed the Atlas that offered an overly enthusiastic hand and jumped into wormhole after wormhole with them, endlessly optimistic even after he was torn apart by blackholes or burned into atoms by supernovas.  The Atlas who mocked Oppenheimer with a giddy snicker and a fistbump while sucking on alien candy.  They wanted their friend back.
But that Atlas was dead, wasn’t he? And Morgan had been his murderer a hundred times over.  What right did they have to demand the “old” Atlas when Morgan was directly responsible for who he had become?  The stilted attempt at light-hearted humor only further emphasized that.  They wanted to call out and stop him, despite knowing it wouldn’t work (all the advanced technology in this universe, and still, still no one could fix Morgan’s broken voice). Ask –not order, ask- him to stay just a little longer and talk at them until they fell asleep. It could have been anything he wanted. Construction of the Colony, the newest recipe Cook was trying with alien ingredients, whatever Chica did that day; anything and everything.  But Morgan was so, so tired and he had work to do. Atlas had an entire team of qualified individuals in the event he couldn’t perform his duties - the senior staff engineer directly below him had Herculean work ethic- so it wasn’t a matter of could he, it was would he. Morgan already knew the answer.
They gave a hum of confirmation at Atlas’s promise and finally allowed themself to stop resisting the medicine.  Later. They’d talk –really talk- later when one of them wasn’t under medical observation.  Somewhere away from duty and obligation where they could talk as people.  Maybe it would help, maybe it wouldn’t, but it would be better than this.

Alright. ALRIGHT FINE. I’m caving okay. I’m caving to the Trolls brainrot. It’s too good okay. It’s been lifting my depression. Sue me. Please don’t, I don’t own anything and have very little money. So I’ve been devouring all I can on here about the various AU ideas, headcanons, etc. now I’m gonna actually contribute some and break my lurking status in fandoms lol. So here are some scattered thoughts, things I’d change for my AU, working stuff out. Etc. yes, it’s a Feral!Branch AU.
Wanna do me a Feral!Branch AU bc I like feral bitches So Much.
Also like… why did they leave right before the ceremony for Trollstice…? Why didn't they leave the night before, under the cover of darkness? So I'm fixing that. No more Putt-Putt trolls unfortunately, but hey, Viva doesn't get torn from her sister!
Most of the village thinks Poppy has been eaten at the beginning because Chef had wanted to snatch her early to make sure everything was perfect. However, Branch had attacked Chef, sending both he and Poppy to the ground. That's how he has her at the beginning, that's why he's the one keeping her safe as they escape.
Disco merged w Pop trolls decades ago, their ancestors being the glitter trolls.
• Trolls are magical creatures, the guardians of their style of music.
○ Most of the time they use this music to keep the Spirit of Hope flowing throughout the world.
• They have tails and claws and fangs, which varies with what type of troll they are.
• They can reproduce both sexually and asexually. Eggs are sung into existence either way though
○ Asexual reproduction happens on purpose only, there's a magical rite they go through to help themselves conceive with the Spirit of Music (Yep. You heard me. They're fucking a Spirit.)
§ This process is much easier than sexual reproduction, but still takes a lot from the laying parent
○ Sexual reproduction also only happens on purpose. The couple, or thruple in some cases, will combine their hair, locking it together, and consuming each other's DNA, then singing the egg into existence.
§ This process can take a few hours, and takes a Lot out of the parents.
• Eggs can take anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks to hatch, depending on the strength of the parents, however a long hatch doesn't necessarily mean the trolling within will be weaker, especially if they're able to have that time to develop.
• Trollstice has been going on for 100 years.
○ It started as just the bergens going ham and slaughtering everyone, before both the king of the bergens, and the king of the pop trolls, came together.
○ The king of pop was given two choices:
§ We [the bergens] will eat all of your entire people, wiping every last one out.
§ Don't leave while we build a cage around your tree to keep other bergens out, and you'll only be eaten once a year. Every year. Forever.
○ Immediate annihilation, or generational trauma? Yeah the king chose trauma. He was eaten for his efforts, once the cage was completed. He was the first troll eaten for Trollstice.
• King Peppy is that king's grandson,
○ he watched his father come into power and how horrible it all was, the terror of knowing there was a death day coming around the corner
○ Not to mention the bergens that would try to skirt the cage and reach in for any stragglers.
○ So King Peppy decided that he wouldn't do this, he would save his people.
• The plans for the escape from the Troll Tree started before Peppy was even crowned, the hollowing out of the tree and mourning as it slowly died, despite their magic hiding the worst of the effects.
○ The tunnelling takes more than a decade, but finally they make it out.
○ King Peppy pushes away memories of his first daughter, knowing that she would have to have been captured and likely eaten already.
○ It was too painful to think about those they lost that night.
How being feral works here:
• More in touch with wilder aspects, sharper senses for one, all heightened to be vigilant of danger.
○ This can easily lead to overstimulation, since sharper senses mean more sensitive. A loud bang hurts like being slapped, sudden light is like being stabbed, etc.
• Denser coat of fur
• Longer, sharper claws and fangs no matter what type of troll, this shit will get larger and more dangerous
• These trolls tend to end up on the shorter side, either from malnutrition, the walking on all fours that is common as a feral, or something else like having to hide to start with.
• Become feral by isolation, got nothing to do with colors
• More skittish for sure, more willing to go for violence
○ Will roughhouse for fun
○ Will also take long naps in the sunshine, just like a cat, ears fully alert, but able to relax in the soft warmth.
• Difficult to speak, more accustomed to growling, hissing, purring, silence, etc.
• Ferals can sing however, not with words since they can't really speak
○ It's a haunting sound, usually double-toned with a Deep Bass Rumble
• The magic ferals can do is also more 'primitive' but only in the sense that it's pretty strictly some form of deep nature magic, or some kind of knack that they have.
○ For instance, Branch is stupid good at digging homes and making them safe, why? He's got a sense of it. He's got an extra sense that tells him where to put dirt, how to mix in the water, where to support what, where not to dig, where there would be water underneath, etc. He's just good w the ground in general.
• Nesting is more important to ferals than other trolls. A feral's nest is their sacred Safe Space, if you are in their Sacred Safe Space, then you had better've been fucking invited there because you won't make it out of the nest intact.
• Grooming is more intensive of course, they're out in the wild, and the wrong scent could lead a predator to you.
○ To be groomed by a feral means they care deeply for you, and they're trying to keep you safe and clean
• Once you go feral, like, you can kinda get reintroduced to society and all that, but the physical changes won't ever go away
• Ferals hibernate in the winter, growing an extra dense coat of fur and blubber to last them the long three months of snowfall.
• Usually takes a couple of months of being completely alone to go Full Feral, if with like, one other person, it takes about a year to go Full Feral with them.
○ A community can go feral, depending on circumstances and numbers.
§ More likely that a community goes partially feral, not as wild as fully feral, but much more wild than a non-feral troll community would be, less focused on the party vibes
But yeah that’s what I’ve kinda got knocking around in my noggin, if anyone wants to gush w me, please feel free. I will gush about these stupid fucking trolls for hours without taking a breath. They’ve hooked their damn claws into me.

hi! I might be childish but I am 100% agreeing with McGonagall not getting Ginny’s Christmas card…🙃
Can you please tell us some about her mindset? Is it just trying to get the school through this year, is it really though love, remorse or..?
the mcgonagall discourse continues to tickle me no end. anon i for one applaud an encourage any and all childishness. also i agree! dropping people from the christmas card list because you've got major beef with them is a time-honoured and noble tradition and ginny is right to uphold it
i don't want to say too much that will end up in the fic but! i think mcgonagall in beasts thinks she is trying to Do Her Best - for ginny, for the other students under her care, but also for hogwarts as an institution, which is an institution whose mission and ethos she really believes in. a lot of this is is (understandably, and not necessarily wrongly) bound up in her loyalty to her mentor, dumbledore, someone she didn't always agree with but whose vision for hogwarts she consistently throws her weight behind.
minnie's got a huge amount on her plate stepping up as headmistress in 1998. she's the headteacher of a student body who are individually and collectively traumatised, who are only just beginning to process what happened to them, and whose traumas are extremely complex and diverse and don't really have the tools to grasp each other's often very different but no less serious sufferings (obviously the the pureblood/half-blood students who endured life under the carrows during the war and the DA lot who actively resisted the carrows and paid a huge price for it, but also muggleborn students who were on the run, and all those who were in azkaban.) she's dealing with a lot of guilt for all that she couldn't shield her students from (more to come on this), and she's sincere in her belief that young people who have gone through enormous upheaval need structure, routine, accountability, and a kind of compassion that manifests as someone saying no, you can't punch whoever you like because they said something horrible to you. you do have to hand your homework in. you do need to not sneak out of the castle at night and make everyone worry about you. partly this is generational - she was born in 1935, she has a set of ideas about acceptable and unacceptable ways of expressing your distress as a child. but i think this is also a not inherently cruel or abusive child welfare philosophy, even if it doesn't really take on a lot of what we know of how trauma manifests in young people and adolescents. minerva would say: it's my job to look after my students, i'm the adult and authority figure, i need to reimpose and safeguard the social contract that holds an institution like a school together, and also to make sure that i care about each individual student while also managing the impact of students' behaviours on each other. (in canon, she repeatedly does enforce the rules in strong terms and doesn't make excuses when harry - a character who is well within his rights to act out given his life experiences - gets in a fight or fucks up and breaks the rules in ways that meaningfully impact his peers.)
when it comes to ginny, i think mcgonagall sees lots of herself in her. they share a fierce protective streak, they're both very loyal, they're both incredibly stubborn, and they both are petty as hell and show their emotions by way of biscuit/christmas card deprivation. but that also means mcgonagall expects more of ginny than most, especially as someone who rode hard for the hogwarts student body the preceding year. mcgonagall wants ginny to help her keep hogwarts standing and continue to play the part of a role model for her peers as someone (she knows) they look up to. ginny does not want to do that. and mcgonagall's massively frustrated that ginny has (also understandably) held her hands up and said fuck that, role model schmole model, i've gone through it and you're all now saying back to normal and pretending it never happened. what's hard is that they're both kind of right! but neither is able to say it. and that's why gryffindor girlies are so fun and massively annoying to smash into each other when doing the literary equivalent of playing dolls (writing fanfiction)

AU Thursday: Valicer In The Dark -- Fun With Special Abilities
We're back with my beloved Blades In The Dark trio again today, this time to discuss the fun special abilities they pick up during their time as scoundrels! I've touched upon this topic before, when I did the initial post on the group's playbooks, but I wanted to explore it in more detail now that I'm actually posting fic for the verse. Because there are a LOT of fun special abilities that these three can snag, both from their own playbooks and others. :D Here are the ones I've gotten locked down so far:
-->Alice: Alice, as per previous posts, actually starts with two special abilities -- Not To Be Trifled With, which allows her to perform superhuman feats of strength or take on a gang of up to six people on equal footing (like, say, a certain Bluecoat squad), and The Devil's Footsteps, which allows her to perform superhuman feats of agility (like a real-life double jump onto a carriage roof) or dance around her enemies so they attack each other. These two I think cover her Wonderland abilities in AMA and A:MR very well, and given that she starts with a trauma, Haunted, it felt only fair. As for the abilities she'll pick up as a member of the Three Pillars, we have --
A) Vigorous -- she heals faster from harm! In game-mechanical terms, this means she permanently fills in one quarter of her "healing clock" (a four-segment clock where you have to fill in all the segments to reduce all your accumulated harm down a level) and takes an extra die on healing rolls. This goes well with my headcanon that Alice heals exceptionally well (to explain how she survived a massive house fire with no visible burns on her character model) and just makes the whole process of healing easier for the person most likely to get in a fight (because it's fucking TOUGH in this game).
B) Bodyguard -- she's better at protecting her teammates from threats! She gets an extra die on resistance rolls (which allow her to avoid or reduce the consequences of an action) to protect Victor or Smiler from something or someone, and gets extra effect (aka better quality info) when she researches potential threats beforehand. This felt like a good one for Alice because I imagine she wants to make very sure that nothing horrible happens to Victor or Smiler during their time as scoundrels -- they're her new family, and she doesn't want to lose them! And it goes very well with a trauma I want to give her in the future -- but that's another post...
C) Ghost Fighter -- she can imbue her hands, melee weapons, or tools with electroplasmic power, giving her an edge against supernatural foes! Specifically, she gains potency against them (which improves the effect of her rolls against them) and can actually physically grapple with ghosts and other electroplasmic creatures to restrain them. This is just cool, and I think it would be something Alice would want, especially if and when they tangle against more supernatural creatures -- but this one actually comes with a prerequisite: Victor's gotta know the Ritual special ability first (see his section below the read-more). Because as Victor is the "magic guy" of the group, I feel like this is something they'd work on together. (Maybe after they turn Alice's knife into a electroplasmically-charged weapon by tying it to his lightning hook during their fight against the Jabberwock?)
D) Savage -- she is fucking scary when she unleashes the physical violence. Meaning she can frighten anyone who sees it, and gets a bonus die on rolls to then Command a terrified target. I see this as just a natural consequence of her getting better at real-world violence and the gang's reputation as a trio not to be messed with growing as time passes. Think of it as Alice basically entering real-life Ragebox Mode or Hysteria Mode -- that'd be pretty scary, wouldn't it? (And it also ties in well with that trauma I'll be talking about later...)
-->Victor: Victor starts with the Ghost Mind special ability -- he is always aware of any ghosts or other electroplasmic entities in his vicinity, and he also gets an extra die when he researches the supernatural. This felt the most appropriate for him given that I had him get dragged into the ghost field -- the supernatural echo of the city where ghosts actually live -- for an entire day as part of the process of adapting Corpse Bride for this setting. I mean, that would have to have some sort of side effect, right? As for what he gets as time goes on, we have --
A) Strange Methods -- he's better at inventing and making stuff that is a little arcane (like magical potions and odd spirit-related gadgets)! Game-mechanically, he gets a better result when he makes these kinds of things, and he automatically learns how to make one particular thing for free (instead of having to learn about it and figure out the process for making it during play). This special ability is going to cover Victor learning how to infuse insects (specifically moths and butterflies) with electroplasm to turn them into little radiant energy generators (radiant energy being the closest thing this setting gets to sunlight -- as you might imagine, it's pretty important for growing crops and thus important for making sure their greenhouse actually works!). It felt like the closest match for that project! Plus it might be fun to figure out what else he can make going forward...
B) Ritual -- he knows how to do ritual sorcery and can study or even invent his own rituals to call upon arcane powers! Much like Strange Methods above, he also gets one ritual that he knows for free when he takes this ability. This was another contender for the whole "how Victor figures out how to make radiant energy butterflies" thing above (though I obviously decided Strange Methods fit better), and I knew I wanted him to get this one regardless because come on, it's cool and dangerous magic. Who doesn't want cool and dangerous magic? XD And, as indicated above, it feels like a good prerequisite to some of the abilities he and his friends get, both as individuals and as a team -- I mean, Ghost Fighter feels like something you would need a ritual for, right? That being said, I'm not planning for every magical spell Victor gets through this ability being a straight-up ritual -- instead, this will also cover him learning the demonic language of sorcery, a concept briefly mentioned in the book that I found very cool and wanted to use more. Victor will still have to pay a stress cost to speak things into existence using the language, of course, and learn what various words mean and how to pronounce them, but he just has to say them to trigger the effect. I'm not sure what his first ritual or spell will actually be, mind, but I'm looking forward to finding out!
C) Warded -- he has special armor that allows him to deal better with supernatural nonsense! Specifically, he can "expend" the armor (check off the box on his playsheet) during a score to avoid supernatural consequences coming his way as a result of something he did, or to push himself (generally means picking up an extra die for your roll) when dealing with arcane forces, without having to take stress. I think this is a cool thing that Victor would very much like to have while dealing with the supernatural beasties he might encounter inside the city (as he can already tell that they're there) -- I picture his "special armor" as a coat he enchants with Elder Gutknecht's help, covering it in strange glyphs and suchlike to imbue it with arcane-busting power. (...actually, maybe he's inspired to make the coat after his ghost-busting score with Bonejangles. Must keep that in mind.)
D) Ghost Veil -- he can shift himself back into the ghost field for a few moments, becoming as shadowy and insubstantial as a ghost! In game terms, he takes two stress to do this, plus one extra stress if he wants to make it last longer, make himself fully invisible, and/or give himself the ability to float It's very cool, and it felt like the sort of thing that Victor would be able to do after his little trip into the ghost field courtesy of Emily -- it just takes him a bit to properly "unlock" the power. I was originally thinking that Ritual would have to be a prerequisite for it as a result (as Victor wouldn't figure it out until he got deeper into studying spellcraft and sorcery), but if it's something that's another side effect of his "ghost bride" adventures, maybe it's just something he stumbles on accidentally -- like, he does it on reflex during a fight, and the trick is figuring out how he triggered the effect so he can do it deliberately. I mean, it's probably still going to come after Ritual, simply because I plan for him to take that early, but -- yeah.
E) Tempest -- he can push himself to unleash a bolt of lighting as a weapon, or summon a storm (rain, fog, high winds, heavy snow) in his immediate area! Costs him two stress in game terms, but I think it's worth. This is just downright cool, and I love the idea of Victor being able to do something so powerful. He is more dangerous than he looks with this! This one definitely does have Ritual as a prerequisite, though, because I picture this ability as being tied to the demonic language of sorcery (hell, the book itself implies that it is). So Victor has to be able to use said language before he can fry people with lightning. Small price to pay!
-->Smiler: Smiler starts with the Alchemist special ability -- they're good at brewing up anything with alchemical features (drugs, non-magical potions, things like that), and get one formula that they already know for free. Since my concept for them in this verse is "cultist drug dealer," and I've always pictured them as an excellent chemist regardless of the universe they're currently occupying, this was a no-brainer as their starting ability. And as you might expect, their free formula is their signature Joy Serum -- after all, you can't be a drug dealer if you don't know how to make the drug. XD Anyway, as for what they get while running around with Victor and Alice, we have --
A) Physicker -- they gain enough medical knowledge to serve as the team doctor! Specifically, in game terms, this lets them Tinker with people's bodies to treat wounds and stabilize the gravely injured; Study maladies to see how to treat them and corpses to see how they died; and gives everyone in the crew an extra die when it comes to healing rolls. This is something that I think Smiler would like to pick up just to help keep their partners safe and healthy -- being a scoundrel is a dangerous job, after all, and hurt or sick friends are unhappy friends! Plus it's just good in practical terms, because, as I mentioned before, healing is tough in this game, and any advantage you can get is a good one!
B) A Little Something On The Side -- they get extra money after every score! In game terms, this means that at the end of every "downtime" phase (time after scores when characters work on projects and acquire assets and relieve stress and suchlike), they get two extra "stash" (how the game tracks each scoundrel's personal finances -- how much stash you have determines how good your character's lifestyle is and if your character ends up destitute on the street or in a halfway-decent home when they retire). I think this is a good one for Smiler simply because it feels like a good way to represent mechanically them still continuing to sell Joy Serum when they're not doing scores with Victor and Alice. They may not be living with the Advocates anymore, but that does not absolve them of their responsibility to bring chemical joy to the masses! Though, given that Smiler canonically sells their Joy Serum for cheap, maybe I'd reduce this to one extra stash. We'll see.
C) Mesmerism -- they have the ability to not only talk someone into something, but also make them forget that they were ever talked into it! Specifically, when they successfully Sway someone, they can also choose to have the person forget that it happened -- at least, until they next time they see Smiler, at which point they are like "HEY!" XD This one just feels like an appropriate one to me because it fits well with the actual rollercoaster's theme of hypnosis and mind control. And I did give Smiler a little hypno-wheel as one of their starting gadgets -- maybe they use that when they're using this ability? Or maybe this is an additional blessing from Mar-Mal that they get for helping the Advocates out with something...hmmm. I'll have to think about it. Point is, it's thematically appropriate, and could make for some interesting scenes.
D) Functioning Vice -- they're better at indulging their vice in a way that does not cause them to overindulge -- and can help Victor and Alice do the same! In game terms, this means whenever Smiler indulges their vice (which is how you reduce stress after scores -- you roll dice equal to your lowest attribute score and remove the highest number from your stress tracker), they can adjust the roll up or down by one or two to prevent overindulgence -- and any allies who indulge with them can do the same. I saw this in action in Oxventure Presents: Blades In The Dark with Johnny's character Kasimir in the second season, and holy fuck is it useful. Like, this is the ability to get if you want to make sure your scoundrels can reduce their stress quickly and safely. And Johnny was using it on a character whose vice was Obligation and involved Kasimir tending his busted knee -- Smiler's vice is Pleasure! Do you know how much easier that is to pair with another vice? Alice has an Obligation to keep an eye on the children of Houndsditch? Take 'em on a picnic! Victor has a taste for the Weird? Go on a shopping trip to a bookstore to look for occult books! Want to do something all together? Take the kids out and have Victor demonstrate some of the safer magic tricks he's learned! :D Seriously, this is going to be like their best special ability --
Which is why it's kind of a shame that I've already come up with a score revolving around them overindulging their vice at the Golden Plum restaurant and then having to help Chef Roselle there get ingredients for a new dish. XD So yeah, Smiler can only get this ability after that happens. Probably inspires them to be more careful when indulging their desires!
E) Trust In Me -- they're better at anything they may choose to do against a target who they already have an intimate relationship with! Basically, in any roll against someone whom they already know well, they get an extra die -- and no, it doesn't have to be a social roll, nor does the relationship have to be that kind of intimate -- they just have to be close. I think this one fits Smiler simply because they're the most extroverted of the three, and probably have all sorts of friends scattered around the city that could be convinced to help the Three Pillars on their various scores. I do picture them using this mainly to help Sway friends to their various causes -- Smiler's a lover, not a fighter, and wouldn't want to damage the friendship by doing something mean. Though if someone they like decides to be an ass to them first -- well, all bets are off. Smiler may not be good at throwing a punch, and not want to hit a friend, but if they have to...
Whew! Quite the lists, huh? And this isn't even getting into the special abilities the trio can pick up as a crew! Not to mention the upgrades I have planned for their lair... I think telling you all about that will have to be a separate post, though. This one's long enough already. XD

how did rosemary forgive the thierry? do they have any long lasting trauma for it? how did thierry then act towards rosemary after figuring out they're real?
addressing the last question first ~
so the thing is- rosemary was FINALLY recognized as a real person / " the true player " if you will, during --i think you can guess-- the game's " Not Stanley Ending. "
( which is less an official ending to their parable & was just. something that happened to them. but the discussion of " what was a legitimate, meant-to-happen game ending for them " vs " what was just an impromptu, horrible event " will have to wait another time )
so upon rosemary disobediently pulling the phone cord from the wall during what was Supposed to lead to the " Apartment Ending ", thierry acted as you'd expect from canon; thinking ( dumbly ) that " stanley " was only JUST usurped by this player figure, & gradually getting all the more frustrated that things weren't going back to normal quick enough, nor the way that he wanted.
however.
cut to them having exhausted all attempts at trying to set things right, escalating to thierry having a pissfit & trying to wholly trash the game. as both him & rosemary stand in the rubble of the office, with him mourning his story, thierry snaps & attempts to remove this " pesky player " manually through the code of the game.
that's when he'd realize that rosemary, real person she was, had been there ALL along. that there was absolutely NO trace of stanley in the game anymore, none that he could find, anyway - & there HADN'T been since he first LAUNCHED the game.
meaning, of course, that this very Real, very Human person who was REALLY just supposed to be behind a screen, playing his game, had been subjected to every bit of venom he'd ever thrown at- what he thought was just an AI. " stanley. " said venom including, violent deaths. hands-on ones, primarily.
& though i've said he's the desensitized sort that wouldn't really be affected by such a thing USUALLY, the moment that realization sunk in- the thought that he was truly a Murderer, & a monster overall?
the man had never known such agony before.
killing the AI was never supposed to mean anything or hold any real consequence, but killing a HUMAN BEING is a different story- & he'd done it EXCITEDLY, COUNTLESS times, MERCILESSLY, HANDS-ON where he couldn't avoid accountability. now, where death had never meant anything to him before, it now meant EVERYTHING.
the game would reload, leaving rosemary enitirely alone in the office as thierry disappeared. to " process the new information. " ( have a violent meltdown & thrust himself into heavy denial )
took a full reset of the game or two for him to come back. & when he DID, things were. awkward, to say the least. after all, how do you come back from THAT. how could he face her now, knowing the weight of her existence in the office? feeling the weight of his own crimes?
but somehow... they got along. they moved on, past it. rosemary was treated less like thierry's puppet & more like a genuine person. thierry walked on eggshells & attempted to use his every breath to redeem himself & apologize. somehow, things gradually began to improve from there.
eventually, they'd come to be on good terms. eventually, they'd become friends. eventually, they'd pine for each other. eventually, they'd date, & even get married at some point, years after the fact.
despite said years still being filled with bloodshed... but it's LONG since been a real crime to them, now it's their fun game. it's what they do on their date nights. it's what they do to relax. for recreation. now they BOTH enjoy it. it's horrible- but they've made it work.
but thierry comes to Forget about the fact that it wasn't ALWAYS the fun & games they've since made it out to be.
rosemary doesn't.
& rosemary doesn't forgive him for it.

Hi I’m back! With more ideas! Also did you like my art? I really liked how it came out in the end. Also Thank you for replying to my asks and for continuing to create this au Finals is destroying my will to live and this is a bright light in the tunnels of all my citing.
Anyways on to throwing up my internal probably not coherent brain sludge that are my thoughts!
I’ve been thinking about what Mihawk and Shanks are going to be like after being traumatized and what they are going to do after. And how it’s going to be an absolute nightmare.
The more I ponder these changes the more I think about the differences we might see in Shanks and Mihawk in this AU compared to the canon counterpart, the more I think that the Loguetown boys will have this franticness about them, this wounded creature under their skin and in the corner of their eyes. Like they're calm, and civil but also two seconds away from bolting or ripping your throat out.
The canon counterparts have had the time and freedom and luxury to grow and gain and sense of stability in their positions-they've both built themselves up—Yonko, Warlord, World's Greatest Swordsman, and the only emperor to use only Haki. Politically, both are untouchable, and even if not, they have the ability to forgo that political safety and still be okay. They have the assurance of that power, the knowledge of their strength, and years of enemies and battles to prove it. They have nothing to prove, no need for more power; they are the pinnacle to strive for in their world, and they know it. They have nothing to fear, and they know that as well.
These two, on the other hand, are probably going to be afraid of everything forever. The world was knocked out from under their feet at a young age, and people took their power from them, holding it over their heads and laughing at their pitiful attempts at fighting back. They are irrevocably scarred, physically and mentally. No matter how powerful they get, no matter how powerful their enemies are, they will never believe themselves safe, will never believe they can't be trapped or hurt or lose or be used. For good or for ill, they are going to be the underdog in their heads no matter what. And that can make them sometimes irrational and paranoid, not thinking things through in the moment. Not that it will make them stupid, but it will make them slow to trust, slower to understand, and slower to put down roots.
I believe entirely that trauma doesn't make a person; it just breaks a person. I mean, look at canon Shanks after his dad was murdered in front of him, and his best friend and crew left him to fight for himself. He became an alcoholic but was probably lucky enough to have people who later could pulled him from the worst of that—he had time to grieve, grow, and learn, and the freedom to allow himself to be content and comfortable with himself, with opening up to other’s, with his relationships and with his power.
With the trauma these two kids are going to go through, I don't see them coming out of it anything but worse. They both didn't have the luxury of time or freedom or people around them that cared enough to allow them to process it. They had no coping mechanisms, no internal hopes aside from ambition (on Mihawk's part), and a memory of a family gone (Shanks) to pull strength from. All they had is each other, and even that's messed up because the others had time to develop their relationship, to reveal vulnerabilities and fears, and the small, intimate human things that make loving someone worth it.
The boys got all of that all at once but forced, no control, no consent, all of their vulnerabilities and humanities on full display and no time to process, to develop, to have space to create an identity for themselves. They will forever be Mihawk and Shanks. Never alone, never without the other. And even when they get out, with all that horrible in their veins, they won't be able to leave each other to find or develop past that. And that's really, really sad. Because as someone who has gone through the hard process of healing or getting better surrounded by people who are also trying to heal, you need that distance. Or you will end up hurting each other, and that pain can lead to resentment.
The worst part is they are both forever going to be a trigger for each other's trauma, but they can't leave each other because if they do, there's no coming back from that. Where could they go anyway to heal, huh? The government's probably still after them; they probably don't trust anyone, and they are both so entwined with each other. Separating would probably kill them. It's going to be so messy. And when I said I believed they'd probably both be more than happy to crawl into each other's skin and live there, I meant it.
Anyways, this is making me sad. And I still want to write that AU where canon meets these boys, just for the mental image of Shanks and Mihawk—these two larger-than-life beings, these big lazy cats like a lion and a tiger, sitting close but not touching their food forgotten as they watch these two vibrating, traumatized, probably-used-to-be circus animals sit next to them practically crawling into each other’s laps. Devouring food somehow both delicately and exactly like a D. And while both parties are going, "Oh god, what the fuck is wrong with you! For entirely different reasons.
I love your art! If you ever decide to make more in the future I'll find some way to give you a million dollars. I'm really invested in this AU, thanks to everyone who also took interest in it and of course, you. I'm glad it's helping you through finals, lol. Hmm, these are all such good thoughts. I love every point you bring up. "the Loguetown boys will have this franticness about them, this wounded creature under their skin and in the corner of their eyes. Like they're calm, and civil but also two seconds away from bolting or ripping your throat out." A pair of wounded, cornered young animals. Because as far as the Marines were concerned, that's what they were, and that's what they nearly turned them into. Loguetown Mihawk and Shanks are going to obtain the power/status of their canon selves because of their desire to never be hurt again, rather than obtaining it by-and-by through the years. Instead of the their reputations forming around them, they are going to make their reputations with their own hands. They'll seek out power. And use it as a shield. When they finally get out, they're going to walk out of the metaphorical arena hand in hand, broken, and ready to die rather than go back. They have everything to prove, and nothing to lose. They have to prove that they are not animals, that they are not broken, (or that they are capable of putting themselves back together) that they are strong, that they can be strong again, that there is revenge to be had, and that they can take it. One of the driving forces is revenge. In Marine custody, they weren't able to protect each other. But they were able to swear vengeance in each other's names, and that keeps them going during a period of recovery that would otherwise have seen them dead. As you mentioned before, Mihawk holding Shanks and thinking he can't die, he has to live for him, to be his protector by his side. Shanks sitting by Mihawk in the cold Marine cells, watching him sleep, the only bit of peace they have, and knowing he has to live. If only because of everything Mihawk did to protect him. That they won't trust anyone is so true, but they will do so eventually, and it will only be the ones who suffered along with them under the Marines. AHHH, that gets overlooked so often! Shanks' drinking habits are huge point of fun, but if you really look at it. Yeah. He's an alcoholic. Our Shanks is going to turn to alcohol too, if more reservedly. Canon Shanks had his crew, he became a captain two years after Roger's death. That two years will be spent in Marine custody for Loguetown Shanks, and even though he finds the people who will become the red-haired pirates, they are in no position to support him as they did in canon. The plan behind the Loguetown AU is to make a dark mirror of everything that happens in canon, with Mihawk/Shanks as the focal point. needs pt. 2 again

this concept fascinates me So Much because it's so damn plausible (and like. semi-canon. horns of nimon is on some level just doctorification. lalla ward for doctor who 1979). here's my like, basic pitch for doctor!romana:
our doctor never leaves gallifrey. this is fairly important as during their fourth regeneration they juuust so happen to wind up at the academy tutoring students. this means 1) brax is not there to stop pandora attempting to possess romana and 2) the doctor puts it in romana's mind to run away. romana ends up running away from gallifrey before she should have graduated, since if she had taken her exams she would've passed them with flying colours
through a clever bit of coding, romana completely erases all records of her original name from the matrix. whoops!
romana spends a good while just stumbling into trouble in her first incarnation. she learns the hard way that dresses and heels are not suitable clothes for accidentally changing timelines in
she does the travelling with humans gaining morals blah blah blah thing, but she's never truly able to relax, because she's intermittently being chased by pandora and the time lords, both of whom want to drag her back home
in a botched attempt to ward off pandora, romana pulls a brax and wipes her memories. this backfires; she crashes to '70s earth with a bad case of amnesia, a broken tardis, and a deeply annoyed brigadier. on the bright side, it does seem to keep pandora away for a while
romana eventually manages to solve (most of) the amnesia, much to the relief of the brigadier, and leaves earth. i'm leaving it fairly vague as to whether she meets the same companions as our doctor, but she definitely picks up (and unceremoniously dumps) leela, which is the beginning of a marvellous friendship
she also picks up adric, at some point. this is a bit of a sore point in later lives, as he's the first person who ends up in serious danger due to her running around space. it's with adric around that pandora makes her last and climactic attempt to possess romana; romana, through shenanigans, manages to trap and destroy pandora (as well as saving gallifrey and erasing her criminal record in the process), but is forced to regenerate in the process
adric also still dies - on her watch, now in her second body. romana continues to wander about space and time, but gets increasingly morose
romana doesn't have to put up with the master, thank god (he also never turned renegade here), but she runs into the rani every so often, and to be honest, they're both as fed up with the whole "stop each other's plans" as the other. of course she also has the odd childhood friend trying to kill her here and there, but like. that's just canon
after a few centuries or so of doctoring it up, romana decides to try something new and runs for president (with the helps of the doctor, who is by now on his seventh body and also coordinator of the cia). this backfires horribly; etra prime goes down mostly as in canon
she spends a bit of time on gallifrey in the aftermath, trying to get on with this president thing, but - in a general trend for her second body - only lasts a few decades with leela (and, since she does stick around for a little bit, narvin and brax) before growing increasingly bored and disillusioned... especially since a war is brewing
eventually she runs off to just act the doctor again, an increasingly hard task given that there's a time war on
most of her friends are killed or destroyed or unwritten in the time war (this includes the doctor, who is very extremely dead by his eighth incarnation), and she's forced to regenerate into her third incarnation at some point. romana very much does destroy all the daleks both for righteous reasons and for intense trauma reasons; she also destroys the time lords, not by blowing up gallifrey, but by destabilising time lord biodata
brax survived, but regrettably he was turned into an axolotl, and is now stuck on the tardis with romana, who is totally trying very hard to turn him time lord again
the rani survived the time war. she refuses to talk about it or acknowledge romana. they still don't like each other
romana (now in her third body) spends a long while alone again, with only k9 (who can now hover. he deserves it) for company - reminiscent of her early years. that is, until she runs into rose tyler, who's been sent through from a parallel universe... and also they get stuck with a random tudor carpenter who should've been hanged for theft but got whisked away from his execution at the last possible second by time vortex fuckery
is now the time to mention that i (sort of) have written doctor!romana? also i have so many ideas about this, you have no idea. imagine the brigadier up against both liz and romana at the same time
It is ALWAYS the time to mention that! And I would love to see it if you have posted it (I did try to look but you have. A Lot of fic)! I imagine Romana as the actual Doctor would have most of the same adventures and problems but be way less adhd about it
This may have to be a thing I attempt at some point also. I also feel like she should get a dudely incarnation at some point, just once. Both because everyone would be confused at her feminine-sounding name AND because people would stop being confused at Fred

A/N: I'm gonna lose my shit I tried so hard ok. Rahul DM me money. I need moneys.
Tumblr media
It wasn’t as if you were a prude, you just weren't used to the anonymity of New York. It was “the city”, so very different from Crockett. But You, Hassan, and Ali had all made it. The city is a reward.
Ali is gone now, off to college, leaving you with Hassan, trying to find out what life looked like when your child is now technically an adult.
Trauma is a strange beast, anyone who’s experienced this before knows it well.
Certain areas of your relationship changed when you didn’t want it to
Sure you slept in the same bed now, but he hadn’t put his hands on you since the island caught fire.
You could feel him in the night, horrible dreams keeping him hostage. He’d wake, remember where is, and pull you to him.
Sometimes he runs a hand along the side of your neck, tracing the vicious reminder of that night.
He wasn’t fast enough and you paid for it.
The only reason you knew all of this was because you didn’t sleep anymore. At least not in a way that mattered.
Hassan knows this, and both of you kept it under wraps for Ali’s sake
And now the boy is gone. Who are you trying to protect?
So it starts with picnics. Nothing too intense, just two blocks over from your apartment. Both of you were still healing, that much as obvious, but you had each other to lean on, and that was enough.
Today was a day like any other, only you’re wearing that soft orange dress, the one you know Hassan likes, and you’d picked out a bag of his favorites.
No reason, you just miss him is all.
He knows better than to try and carry the bag, you’d put a stop to that right away when he’d first suggested he lift anything heavy at home.
And the two of you walk in a warm, comfortable silence.
“You want to say something, don’t you,” he declares as the two of you cross the street to the small green patch in the city.
“How do you know?”
“I’m a detective.” He knows better.
“Oh, sure.” You tried to shrug it off, spreading the blanket out under an old, quiet oak tree.
Hassan watches intently as you fluff up the pillows you had in your bag, so he could lay comfortable.
Something in his chest burns as he watches your hands carefully prop him up against your favorite tree, fluffing the pillow up just right, and slowly lowering him back.
He was supposed to be doing this for you, not the other way around. You’d been doting on him for the past six months. It's almost like you forgot who’s in charge here.
The logical, calm, part of his mind tells him that you’re just sweet like that. You just want things to be good for him because you love him, no more, no less.
But still, the power you held over him as he healed...you were getting too big for your britches. Someone had to put you back in your place.
“Hassan?” You ask, noticing his glazed expression.
“Um, yes. I’m fine”
“Everything go okay with the doctor?”
“Oh, the usual, I’m just old.” He tries to joke, as you give him a perfect view of what’s under your dress as you sit down. The breeze today is his friend, and he fights to keep himself under control. It’s not fair that this happened.
“Come on, you’re not old, you can still bounce back!” You smack his chest, hand lingering just a little too long on his heart.
“Everything’s bounced as back as it can get,” he pulls a face, and his skin starts to warm under your touch. Either you’d truly wanted to start something, or you forgot the effect you have on him.
“Good.” You declare.
“Hm?” he gives you a half-smile
“That’s good you're bouncing back!”
“It’s been quite the process, you’ve been amazing for all of it.” He praises, raising a thumb to graze your cheek. He’s not going to say how difficult this has been for him, because you already know.
“You know, anything...to bounce.” The thumb that was on your cheek wanders down to trace your lower lip. A part of him hopes you’ll bite, and you do, the air between you hanging heavy for a moment.
“I got the green light.” He says suddenly, breaking the tension.
The green light, what’s a green light?
Oh.
A warm flower blooms in your chest as Hassan backs you against the bark of the tree. You don't notice the scratch, why would you?
“What are you gonna do about it?” You ask, barely getting the words out before his mouth is on you for the first time in months.
Normally, Hassan would put in the work to get you soaked, gasping for him. He would have scratched you with his beard until you, intelligent, beautiful, only knew the word ‘please’. He’d bend you however he wants and play with your body just how you like.
But it had been too long, you’d clearly forgotten what it was like to feel him this way, he could make up for it later.
Hassan takes a moment, runs his thumb along your jaw, blood pumping in his ears as your eyes spark with an indignance he’d long assumed he fucked out of you.
“Getting bold?” He thought he had you trained. At least long enough that six months of recovering wouldn't leave you doubting his power, and being a brat like this.
You stand up suddenly, moving just a bit out of his reach, Hassan sighing as he takes the few moments he needs to get up. He was weak before, but he’s bouncing back, just as he said. Getting up is a process, but he stands at his full height, and the sheer sight of him makes your stomach flutter.
Hassan at his full height was always a sight to behold, when he wasn't trying to make himself smaller for the comfort of others.
He'll stand as tall as you want him to, any day of the week.
“What are you gonna do about it?” You tease, taking a step out of the way, behind the oak you’d been laying under.
“ I think I’ll fuck you against this tree, and let the whole park know what a slut you are, would you like that?” In a moment, it’s as if every hair on your body sees fit to stand on end. He backs you against the trunk, your back exposed to the scratch of the bark, but you don't even notice.
“Oh fuck you.” You roll your eyes, ignoring how close he’s getting, ignoring how he’s looking at you like he wants to eat you alive.
“You wanna walk home sore? You want people to see me dripping down your legs, hm?” The image was a little too powerful, maybe you could ask him to bite at your neck, so people would look at his marks and not the scar.
“...please…” You gasp, “Wanna feel you, please.”
Hassan laughs lightly, the truth starting to register that you wanted him as bad as he’d wanted you. You’d been such a good girl, so patient with him. He’ll give you anything you want.
“Alright sweetheart,” he hums, before wrapping you around him in a smooth motion, like nothing had changed. With a shuffle, you whine as you feel his length against your entrance, so you whine the way he used to like.
He likes it still, adjusting his grip as he slowly makes an attempt.
You thread your hands through Hassan’s hair as he hits the blunt snag at your entrance, earning a pathetic, lovely “Please” from you.
“Aw, baby,” he laughs at you, soft and patronizing, before you lean back against the tree, you sing please, please, please. Of course you do
As he grinds forward, the two of you gasp for a moment, the burn of him was more, so much more than you remembered. Your eyes roll as you focus on squeezing him as tight as you can, hearing him hiss in your ear.
He buries himself to the hilt, and for a moment you can't quite breathe. Had he always been so much?
Each groan, each thrust, makes the back of your eyelids go white. You're never going to learn your place if this is what it gets you.
No matter how roughly he plays with your body, has you, takes you, marks you, Hassan always savors. Today’s no different. He listens to the sounds you make for him, forgetting for a moment that he's outside. He gets lost in you because you're the one thing that's kept him together. This warm, wet, heat you keep him safe in...
The old injury on his stomach feels tight, flashing on the nights you stayed up with him, changing his bandages when he couldn’t. The squelching of your cunt on his cock made his head feel light, and he keeps going.
It’s all over now, the only way to go is up. He digs his hands into the meat of your thighs, and for a moment, you're not just tangled, he feels safe in the fist-tight heat of you. In a perfect world he could stay there.
“Fucking hell,” he hums as he slows, savoring your give and take. Each squeak and moan you gave felt like a gift. He thinks for a moment about how your back must be getting scratched against the tree, so he rearranges his grip between your knees and gives you a break from the roughness.
There’s nothing left to be afraid of. He’s fine, you still want him, Ali’s safe. There’s nothing to be afraid of.
Hassan flashes for a moment to the last time he had you, quick and messy on the desk of his tiny office in the general store, if he’d known that was the last time before…”the miracle”... he would have put in more effort. He would have ruined you, he would have bred your perfect body and pushed you to the limit, so everyone in that fucking town would have known who you belong to, who you begged for.
As he feels the deepest parts of you, warm and wet and soft as ever, he lowers a hand to play between your legs, watching as you close your eyes and wiggle in his hands, nowhere to run. You’re so pretty like this,
“It’s too much, I’m-” you cut yourself off as you clench down around Hassan, who follows right behind, tucking his face into your neck. The dust settles. All that's left are two heartbeats, skipping, and two people trying their best, and the white noise of traffic passing by, leaving the two of you in semi-silence.
Hassan breaks first, letting you keep your eyes closed and hide in his chest.
“Good job sweetheart, always perfect for me,” he kisses the top of your head as you gasp and squirm, and whine in his grip. He holds onto you, laughing to himself as he already sees a few leaves in your hair that he would help you get out later.
When you finally open your eyes, they’re soft, dazed, and happy, just as they should be. He did that.
“Let's go home.” You whine a little as Hassan puts both of your feet on the ground, staying true to his word of making you walk, ruined, for the whole city to see.

The second AU inspired by this dream is less simple:
It's time for a Jessica Jones AU of Miraculous Ladybug. (This means things are... dark.)
@firebirdeternal and I initially joked around with this
Firebirdeternal: JJ flavored older Marinette who is, in fact, a huge hot mess, being time-travelled to Spunky Teen Superhero canon-adjacent Paris Something something wearing the miraculous for so long gave her Passive Superpowers so she literally just jumps through Gabe's Fancy Villain Skylight and punches him in the dick
phoenixyfriend: Chugs a beer (ugh, so American, what did you DO in New York?), crushes the can, skips the Akuma issue to punch Gabe in the facehole
but eventually knuckled down and drew up an actual AU structure.
Let's go! This will meander. Bear with me.
So we have Hot Mess Marinette, whose traumas are very different from those of Jessica Jones, but resulted in a similar air of 'just give me a drink and something to punch so I can stop feeling like trash for a bit.' I like Birdie's comment about the passive superpowers, so we're keeping that.
A JJ AU needs a competent mean lesbian to be a sharky lawyer, and I've decided that's Lila. She's giving PI Marinette jobs for court stuff (find evidence of an affair, serve a subpoena, etc), as her Jeri Hogarth.
Lila would make a good politician. She's got great hair and loves lying.
We're setting this in Chicago. Both of them moved out of Paris for different but similar reasons, boiling down to 'holy shit, trauma' and 'I don't want anyone who knew me as a teenager to know me now.'
Birdie:
They both sass each other constantly, and everybody who sees them interact for five minutes would swear that they hate each other, but low-key they're extremely close and can always count on the other to come pick them up when they're wasted (And make fun of their outfit) while dragging them home Lila + Marinette friendship based on the fact that Marinette is the only person Lila doesn't feel any compulsion to be liked by so she can actually express herself honestly with her and vice-versa
Marinette is such a mess these days that she's almost ashamed of being seen by her old friends BUT she's never cared what Lila thinks, and Lila pays her to serve subpoenas, so.
Yes, that's it exactly! "You don't expect me to be anything other than a Fucking Mess so I don't have to feel guilty about being a fucking mess"
I'm imagining that like, years post canon, everybody from the old Miraculous Crew has done remarkably well for themselves (on paper) and Marinette feels like a fucking wreck because Never-fully-processed PTSD from being a Child Superhero and her only social connections are either people who Didn't Know Her or people she can be comfortable being a mess around (Lila)
(Lila is having an affair with her secretary. Just. That part of the Jeri thing is very important to me.)
(Lila and Marinette messed around a bit, before Marinette dropped out of college for the aforementioned trauma-and-burnout reasons, when she was still trying to keep it together and thought Maybe It's Just A Sexuality Crisis I Can Kiss My Way Out Of.)
also, idea for general/vague plot points: Marinette "I can't bother my friends they're all well adjusted and successful within their field and I'm a wreck"
Alya "I can't shake the horrible feeling that all my success as a blogger/reporter is based on the fact that as a teenager I hit the Popularity Lottery by randomly being best friends with a superhero and everything I've built from that point on feels like a huge lie that I don't deserve"
Nino "I'm a touring musician with success and notoriety but I've lost touch with all my friends from highschool which makes me feel like a sellout bastard and I'd trade it all away to have them back except I'm terrified they wouldn't have me so I can't let go of material gains"
Adrien "I have exactly three neurons remaining that aren't drowning in stress and guilt about the fact that my Fashion Empire was built by my supervillain father and I never had the chance to figure out who Ladybug was before it all came tumbling down and I have no way to contact her or any of my other friends because I've convinced myself they'd all resent me for my father's actions anyways"
Chloe "Is actually remarkably well adjusted because she went to therapy and ditched her abusive family and is living her best life in her own lane and is probably the one Marinette runs into first"
Kagami is Marinette's Matt. The blindness was hereditary and hit in their twenties. Mostly I want Lawyer Kagami, and in regards to her and Lila being in the same field, I think they're unrelated lawyers who do different work? Lila does mostly civil suits.
I am also just like, deeply into "Lila is a lawyer because it lets her weaponize her Worst Traits to do Good in the world" and also "Lila does not by any measure actually stop being a huge bitch or actively problematic in her personal life" she's just like, actively trying to shovel garbage out of the world in order to personally make up for the share she put into it. Does a lot of divorce cases for abused spouses pro-bono, still definitely cheats on her fiance with her secretary.
"I am committed to making the world a better, safer place" "Do you want to examine any of your personal actions in the face of that statement?" "No"
A mess, but a shiny one. Chloe got therapy, Lila got a law degree.
Chloe got therapy and a motorcycle and a punk undercut and the only member of her family she regularly talks to is her half-sister. (And her dad on his birthday. He was incompetent but not Evil.) (Also shoutout to the Crimson Vision version of Chloe for being my ideal Headcanon for Adult Chloe)
I LOVE CV CHLOE SO MUCH
I feel like Kagami visits Lila for Law Reasons and runs into Marinette in the lobby, and it's deeply awkward for everyone (except Lila, who thrives on drama), because this is the first time anyone's seen Marinette in years.
Alya, after the gossip reaches her with Marinette's new contact info: SERIOUSLY? ILLINOIS? YOU LEFT PARIS FOR ILLINOIS?
Marinette and Lila both wanted a fresh start and NYC wasn't an option because Chloe.
Kagami and Chloe bullied their way into staying friends with Adrien and Nino still makes the effort so Adrien does in fact have a girl gang. (Per Birdie, it lessens the "Everyone's a hot mess bitch let's get you some fruite" vibes, but it's also still good.)
Lila seems like the kind of overachiever that would have a license to practice law in both the US and France. She makes her big fancy return to Paris for something insane like "Ivan was framed for triple homicide" and she's decided to take the case Pro Bono (and dragged Marinette along with her).
Marinette just bulldozes her way through the investigation and it scares the shit out of everyone. She has a "Talks about their city like they kind of want to have sex with it" monologue in Paris.
Lila gets Complaints about Marinette and just laughs it off. This has been happening for years, people. She's not concerned. This is the new normal, friends!
Alya: Girl I haven't heard from you in three years and NOW you come back with Lila of all people, smelling like a distillery and punching information out of people?
everyone expects her to be the Clever Inspiring Leader and instead she's just. The Tank. Plows through obstacles and drags people out of bars into the alley to have a Talk with them.
segue but Chloe is the Kristen Stewart of this reality in the "Is incredibly, visibly gay, just short of Actively Having Sex with her Girlfriend in Public, and all the tabloids call them Pals and speculate on whether she and Adrien are in a relationship" sense Chloe: Okay so maybe I was carrying a bit of a torch for Little Miss Perfect in high school so what" Lila: Bitch you were carrying a roadside emergency flare and repressing so hard you tried to drown it in a lake"
Marinette, pretending to not be in the hotel room when Alya comes by: Lila you have to cover for me make up an excuse you're good at that Lila: Hey Alya, yeah no Marinette's not here right now, do you want me to tell her you dropped by? Alya: uh... yeah that would be good. Sure. Lila: [turns her head] Alya dropped by. Anyways I'm gonna go get some coffee you two sort your shit out before I get back [opens the door wide open as she leaves]
Bitch Love her
helpful bitch! Ain't nobody got time for this shit, get the messy crying stuff over with she already knows you're going to be fine afterwards!
"You shacked up with LILA?" "Hell no, she's already got a fiancee AND a mistress, I'm not getting involved with that." "Oh. So you didn't sleep with Lila then." "... I didn't say THAT."
Alya, certified Flannel Wearer, looking at Lila walk down the hallway in heels and a nice suit ".... okay yeah fuck I can't throw stones here"
what if all the Miraculous Kids kept some measure of power after Whatever Happened Happened? So there's an element of like "How are you so sure that Ivan didn't murder those people?" "Because he didn't level a city block in the process, Lila. We'd know if something made him lose his temper." to that angle of the plot.
hmmmmm no Kwamis, because however the final nonsense with Gabemoth went down they all had to go dormant for a while to recover? (no Trauma related to it other than "Wait what do you mean my emotional support Cute Magical Mentor isn't going to be around to give me advice any more" but isn't that enough when you're also a Teen Superhero who never got therapy?) And that's part of why Marinette is spiraling so hard?
Marinette "Why didn't I keep the good luck powers my life is a mess" Tikki, in the Great Beyond "Because I am trying to use coincidence magic to make you confront your trauma in a healthy way and reconnect with your friends but you keep turning LEFT and getting DRUNK you IDIOT MORTAL CHILD WHOM I LOVE" [banging her head into the fabric of reality]

Just saw the one about how they react to the leftover trauma :( Bottling up panic and bad emotions like that is horrible- I imagine they're just sort of rushing to get through the day to be alone with each other? If they have a breaking point what do you think it would be and how bad would it be?
Yeah, basically. They are waiting until they are alone so that they don't have to act like they are alright when they really REALLY aren't. Though being around each other is just as hard, because well they were both infected, so each other's behaviors keep triggering the others memories of the events. Whenever their speech accidentally overlaps they freeze up because they both remember simultaneously when they talked basically in sync while infected. And then neither speaks for a chunk of time because they don't want to make it happen again. Moon avoids using the wire because neither like the memories, and whenever Sun starts to laugh- mostly faked for the kids or nervous laughter, he always shuts himself up immediately because neither like the sound of it anymore.
I imagine the breaking point would be them snapping infront of the glamrocks. They can only keep on the "cheerful" and "calm" facade respectively for so long, especially when neither are used to forcing it in the first place. They don't want to be rude to the glamrocks, or to anger them in anyway since they are already in hot water with the business, so they try to put up an act and be welcoming but the longer the others stay the more it cracks.
Moon was silent and insanely fidgety, and whenever he got startled (which was very easy to do, his nerves were shot and he was insanely on edge) he crushed the item he was holding; Only to immediately try to brush it off as "Oh, I overestimated my strength haha!"
Chica offered to help them clean up while they were there, and both shouted "NO!" at the same time and scared the shit out of each other. Sun went on to try and awkwardly and frantically explain that they could clean themselves, almost desperate trying to convince her that they could handle everything alone.
Once they realized that they weren't going to leave, they tried to leave themselves but they kept getting pulled back as the glamrocks wouldn't allow them to just run off. That’s when it came out that it was basically a robot staff meeting held solely so that they could determine what was wrong with Sun and Moon. They were insanely uncooperative, and kept lying and getting gradually more stressed trying to contain their emotions and insist that they were both fine.
Roxanne eventually got annoyed and asked "Aren't you guys even happy that the daycare is open again??” and they both lost it and it all ended up coming out; That neither wanted the daycare to be open, nor were they ready to take care of anymore children but that it doesn’t matter how they feel and never will because they were “made to be glorified babysitters” and don’t have the luxury of being valuable and loved like the glamrocks. If they complain or don’t function exactly as they are supposed to due to pesky “emotions”, they’ll be punished or destroyed and replaced.
By the end of it, both were in the middle of a massive freak out. They realized a moment too late that they just screamed at the glamrocks, the main attractions at the pizza plex including the fucking mascot of the franchise. They just lost their shit on the robots that practically owned the damn building. Sun burst into tears and Moon was utterly mortified and apologized profusely, and both ran off before the others could talk them down from the panic they flew into. Though, they didn’t split up together. It seemed that they both legitimately weren’t even able to think clearly enough to do that, they just both ran without thinking.
They definitely had a breaking point, and one that gave the others a lot to process.

Hello again! I know you just came out with a Sashannarcy wedding fic of your own (loved it, by the way), but I have my own head canons I wanted to share with you because I'd like to hear your thoughts on them. (Part 1 of 2.) (Also, fair warning: several walls of text incoming. XD)
In the immediate aftermath of Amphibia, the girls all stayed at Anne's for a good month or so, trying to process everything that happened and everything they'd said and done. During this time, the first symptoms of trauma and PTSD/CPTSD began to manifest themselves among the girls, especially poor Marcy. Such trauma usually manifested itself in horrible nightmares for the girls of all their death, near-death, and murder-attempt experiences and their worst possible outcomes, which quickly resulted in their collective sleep schedules going to shit in record time, as well as big-time, short-term struggles with St. James schoolwork. At the same time, it gave the three of them an opportunity to unload their collective emotional baggage with each other (Anne and Sasha in particular) and not only finally begin to get a grasp on their deeply confused feelings for each other, but also a very quick education on how to handle everybody's traumas, triggers, and newly-established boundaries. The three remain quite physically close to each other during this period, and all three share Anne's bed for comfort and refuge from their psychological and emotional pain.
Mr. and Mrs. Boonchuy, meanwhile, are more than understanding of everything that's happened, and do all they can to give the girls the space they need while also providing nourishment and advice whenever they can; they're the ones who actively encourage each of them to seek out therapists, and--thanks to how much of a help they were during Frogvasion--are able to enlist Mr. X's help in both finding the right ones and managing any confidential information that they may need for their sessions. The girls are, understandably, skittish about the process at first (especially Sasha), but each of them warm up to the idea over time and are able to begin getting the help they need to walk through their thoughts and feelings about everything that's happened. This has results both positive and negative.
After a brief deeper dive underwater as far as her grades go, Anne finds the motivation to get back in the academic saddle once she realizes that she doesn't have to leave Amphibia and the Plantars completely behind, but can instead use it as inspiration to care for and preserve Earth frogs once she learns about the existence of herpetology. As a result, she's able not just to improve her grades enough to graduate St. James in the nick of time, but to become a model straight-A student in high school and college afterward.
Sasha, meanwhile, becomes fascinated with the subject of psychology thanks to the long and winding journey into her own psyche that her own therapist guided her on and her subsequent desire to better understand herself and what she was going through; combined with the realization of both her own innate protective nature and her desire to help prevent people from becoming like she'd been pre-Amphibia, she decides to also work to improve her grades and becomes a hard-working student in her own right, oftentimes working with Anne well into the night to relearn things both had either not paid attention to or skipped out on altogether.
By contrast, Marcy's grades took a considerable dip from her previous straight-A status not just from all the time missed in Amphibia, but her wrecked state of mind as well; unlike Anne and Sasha, she wasn't quite able to get back to the level she'd once been at, though she still did well enough to pass all her classes. In fact, because of how screwed-up her attendance record and grades were from the whole affair, it was agreed by all concerned that it would be best for Marcy to move back in with her parents and move to her new school as originally planned as soon as the school year was over, though Anne and Sasha did have one last opportunity for a tearful, heartfelt goodbye before she left, with the promise that she could ALWAYS reach out to them if she needed comfort or advice about anything.
Meanwhile, the girls tried as best they could to iron out all the differences they had with each other as a result of the hurt each of them had put the others through. Though each of them swore never to lay a finger on each other again (a promise they more than made good on, even after they married later in life), many arguments and angry tears were still had between all three, to the point where even sweet, bubbly Marcy lost her temper and screamed at the others on multiple occasions (an enormous shock to Anne and Sasha, as you might imagine), all of which led to a considerable loss of life for Anne's bedroom possessions and furniture. By the time Marcy decided to move back in with her folks, the three had come to the stone-cold realization that, while all of them deeply cared about each other and wanted nothing more than to help each others' recoveries, they also needed time and space away from each other to sort themselves, and their issues, out before establishing any kind of firmer hold on their collective relationship and continuing their healing together.
Thus it was that, though they still talked, kept tabs, and thought about each other as often as they could, the three found much less time for each other as school (and later work) took up more and more of their lives. Though Anne wound up quitting the tennis team and Sasha the cheer squad while each worked to make up for years of lost academic time at St. James, both still remained quite physically active in high school and college, with Anne often jogging and making good use of a membership at a nearby gym and Sasha discovering her new passion/hobby for weightlifting as a result of her time being the Holder Of Strength in Amphibia. The two of them also found new, healthier friend groups thanks to their respective newfound interests in herpetology and psychology, especially as college rolled around. Marcy, meanwhile, coasted throughout the rest of middle school and much of high school with no real clue of what she wanted to do for the rest of her life--until she ran into a couple of people in her new chess club (she dropped out of the one she was in at St. James, but picked it up again in high school at her parents' insistence) who noticed her doodling, complimented it, and encouraged her to do it more. This, combined with her passions for gaming, anime, and fantasy that had continued unabated (though she did become very withdrawn from each of them for a long while after what the Core had tried to do to her), resulted in her getting to know several members of the school's artist and gamer cliques, which in turn got her connected to a wide variety of online communities that helped her improve both her craft and her confidence, especially when she realized just how much comfort and happiness she got out of sketching out her characters, worlds, and stories. Her subsequent decision to enroll in art school riled up her parents a fair bit--until she made a point of showing them the potential for industry contacts she could make in the animation and comic industries that could, if not make her and the family rich, at least give her a steady enough income to live on her own, at which point they left her alone on the subject aside from the occasional well-intentioned, good-natured snark at the dinner table (something that gets under her skin for years afterward, even with continued counsel from her own therapist about how to fix her complicated relationship with her parents).
Even as all this is happening, however, the three of them always shoot messages checking in with each other whenever any of them had a free moment with nothing else to do, the one "drop-everything-and-help" exception being if any of them were experiencing PTSD, CPTSD, and/or anxiety attacks, in which case they would ALWAYS prioritize each other's immediate health, 3 a.m. video calls or awkward excusals from presentations be damned. Sometimes (though it's more the case for Anne and Sasha as time goes on), if any of them can tell one of the others is having a rough time of things, they'll just go over and hug/cuddle them for as long as they need--something that goes a long way towards rebuilding everybody's trust and love for one another--or just ask them to talk about anything they've been into lately (this goes a long way towards helping Marcy in particular) before departing with quiet, grateful thank-yous to each other as they each go about their days again.

[ the fugitive ] emil mesmer x [ black rose ] demi bourbon ; general headcanons
genre : fluff
pairing : [ the fugitive ] emil mesmer x [ black rose ] demi bourbon
disclaimer : mentions of being drunk, passed out drunk, making out, & hickeys
Tumblr media
⋆ demi calls emil by old fashioned nicknames such as sweetheart, sweetie, loverboy, wonder boy, and honey.
⋆ emil has horrible anxiety (due to the trauma [feathered cloak] eda left him in). he has horrible social anxiety and finds it difficult to look anyone straight in the eye. but with demi, he doesn't feel so nervous around her. he specifically loves demi's eyes, it's an unexplainable feeling whenever he glances up and sees her eyes set on him.
⋆ demi is the type to wrap her arms around emil's shoulders and pull him closer to her chest whenever they're kissing. she loves it when he holds onto her waist, but it was only once when she was leaning backwards and emil was scared she'd fall so he quickly caught her. he doesn't hold her waist much because he's paranoid if she doesn't like it, but emil is totally the type to be like "where tf do i put my hands" while kissing. so instead, he just lets his hand stay stiff and his hand in the form of a halt sign.
⋆ emil is not very big on PDA but meanwhile his counterpart is quite the opposite. it's not lovey-dovey affectionate touches on demi's part, more like relaxing near emil and laying her hand on his shoulder whenever they're seated together. emil actually loves any touch from her, he just loves being near demi (presence wise). he tries to stay close to demi whenever they're out together (in a bar, social event, etc. since demi is very extroverted). he doesn't like being away from his lover.
⋆ demi hugs emil as if he's a frantic bunny daring to grasp out her hold. she hugs his neck tightly (but not too tight to the point she cuts his air and blood circulation). she loves having emil's back on her lap so then she can bunny hug him easier.
⋆ emil has horrible liquor tolerance but when i say horrible, i really do mean downright horrible. one sip and that man is a goner. he's woozy and mumbles out all of his words or say the most embarassing things outloud that he's kept in him for so long. demi screamed at josé once because he was offering emil the strongest liquor the bar could offer, knowing emil's liquor tolerance but also knowing that emil is too polite to decline any sort of offer. she doesn't want to control him and stop him of course, he trusts him but with his liquor? hell no.
⋆ demi doesn't admit it (like at all), but she likes seeing emil being drunk. only because she generally just loves the idea of taking care of her lover and him being passed out drunk is another excuse to care for him. she loves carrying him to their one bedroom complex and once their in the confines of their own walls, her motherly persona just kicks him. she would be putting a damp towel ontop of his forehead in fear he'd catch a fever or cold somehow and put a bin next to him if he feels like throwing up once emil's sober or awake. once he's awake, demi would greet him with breakfast in bed (which is mostly just porridge as to "soothe his insides" as demi would say).
⋆ away from emil being passed out drunk, they both give each other goodnight kisses. whether it be whoever is asleep first, it's an unspoken rule that they must be given forehead kisses every night.
⋆ emil is not very verbally affectionate, even with loving nicknames. he tried calling demi babe once, but was a flushing mess after and during the process. he (not purposefullt) overheard demi and vera talking about nicknames once. demi was (playfully) complaining how emil never calls her babe or any nicknames. emil, being the most gullible man alive and unable to detect sarcasm, was striked with a wave of guilt and made it his new goal to call demi every nickname humanly possible.
⋆ once, when demi was asleep, he whispered her sleeping form with praise. he finds it easier talking about his feelings when someone wasn't conscious or not fully listen, than to stammer it in front of anyone when they're in front of him. demi (surprisingly) woke up (even though she's a VERY heavy sleeper) due to the cold, and heard some parts of emil talking about his aspirations. his lips brushed her shoulder, not even realizing that she's conscious now due to the dark light that casts away each of their features. let's say he never praised her in her sleep again because he was showered with kisses all of a sudden.
⋆ emil has a horrible habit of biting his fingernails or picking the skin around his nails whenever he's anxious. (when they weren't dating) demi quickly picked up on it, so she went to joseph and confided with him to help her make those anxiety rings that prevent skin picking. she then went to margaretha and asked for a bottle of nail polish (hoping that the nail polish will stop emil from biting his nails), in which margaretha reluctantly agreed due to having to repay demi with debts.
⋆ demi LOVES emil's freckles (she's unsure if it's freckles or gold specks, but it does glow and she loves moving side to side, watching it's holographic glowering form moving in her eyes with each of her movements). she loves kissing to each one of his freckles and play connect the dot with it whenever they're in bed.
⋆ emil is more of the small pecker type of kisser, while demi is more into eating each other out or hard/soft intimate kisses. the first time they made out, let's say the kiss wasn't perfect but nonetheless, demi loved it. emil's teeth accidentally clashed while emil would pull out and mutter a series of "sorry"s and demi would nonverbally tell him to shut up and pull his lips back in, while clutching on his head and fumble her hands around his hair. emil tries to reciprocate with demi's actions, hoping that he's doing it right (since this is the first time he ever makes out with anyone really), but he eventually let his worries away and let demi lead him the way.
⋆ emil loves it when demi is wearing her signature bright red lipstick. he loves getting kissed and having her lipstick leave marks around his lips and collarbone.
⋆ overall, they're both heads over heals with one another and quite literally the stereotype of the extroverted girlfriend and introverted, shy, quiet boyfriend.
