TW: mentions death, blood
Here is the angst some of you requested. Let me know if I need to add triggers
He isn't going to make it to eighteen. This is a fact. Tim knows, with certainty, that he isn't going to survive that long.
Being a vigilante means that Tim's life expectancy is drastically reduced. He went from possibly dying of old age as the CEO of Drake Industries to becoming a casualty of The Mission. Tim knows the odds. Dick surviving to adulthood is the outlier, not the standard.
So, Tim knows he is going to die within the next few years. Either his blood is going to stain his yellow cape, or Timothy Drake will meet his tragic end in Gotham's streets. This is indisputable.
He had assumed, though, that he would last at least a year as Robin.
He thought Bruce would've been safe.
Tim had spent so long cultivating his plans and carefully navigating his interactions with Bruce. He pushed and pulled Dick, Barbara, Alfred, and some JL members into Bruce's social support. He helped mend their issues, subtly insisted Bruce upgrades his communication skills, and paved the way for a stronger bond.
He denied invitations to spend the night at Wayne Manor, he feigned being full at requests for dinner, and had ducked away from hair ruffles and shoulder pats. He maintained a childlike gaze, a helpful countenance, and a polite business mask.
In the few months Tim has been Robin, he has worked tirelessly to ensure Bruce would have support when Tim inevitably died. He maintained their mutual professional distance to minimize the hurt his death would cause the Waynes. He had designed everything to his best abilities. Tim is going to die, but he would help Bruce before then.
Bruce wasn't supposed to die with him.
Batman and Robin were trapped in the sewers after a cave-in. Apparently, Killer Croc, wrestling, and unsteady foundations were a recipe for a severely concussed Bat and a definitely not panicking Bird.
It could be hours before the two were found deep beneath Gotham's surface. Hours of someone scouring their last known whereabouts for clues before traversing the maze the city uses for their sewage. It could be hours before anyone even noticed their disappearance. Between Bruce's distress signal being crushed in the fight, Tim's being lost in the scuffle, and them being miles underground, this significantly hindered their ability to call for aid.
It might take days before Batman and Robin are unearthed.
From the way the rubble occasionally groaned and trembled, they didn't have that.
Bruce is physically present, his head is cushioned on Tim's lap, but the man's eyes are foggy. He keeps drifting into unconscious before Robin wakes him up again. Each time the man's eyes flutter shut, Tim fears that would be the last time.
It's fine. Tim's okay. Overall, the kid only has bruises on his skin and a few shallow cuts. He might be panicking, but he's physically okay.
Bruce, on the other hand, has a head wound that's sluggishly bleeding into his eyes and dripping down his face. His ribs are cracked from when the man tried to protect Robin from the tunnel collapsing.
Tim can hardly keep his panic at bay when the man starts to doze again. His hand lightly pats Bruce's cheek as he begs the man to open his eyes.
"Hey, B. You're gonna be alright." Tim's voice trembles slightly, but Bruce is too out of it to notice. "It's not going to be much longer. You have to hold on."
Bruce closes his eyes again.
"Bruce. Keep your eyes open."
At the command, the man struggles to pry his eyelids apart. Glassy light blue eyes focus in Tim's general direction. There's an emotion of the man's face that the teen has never seen before.
"We could..." Bruce's voice strains with the effort to speak. Still, he continues to rasp out, "Tomorrow. We could go to the library."
Although it is idiotic to hope, a part of Tim becomes elated at those words. The entire time Tim's been Robin, Bruce has kept him at a distance. They were coworkers, and Tim was necessary, not wanted. The teen could handle curt responses, long silences, and hasty dismissals. At least the man was frank with his expectations and personal boundaries. He never gave false promises or a fake welcome. Bruce was honest with Tim.
If they made it out of there, the man would keep his promise. The two of them could spend time together as Bruce and Tim, not Batman and Robin.
A soft smile appears as Tim regards his mentor. "I'd like that, B."
Bruce's face becomes fond, and his hazy eyes peer up at Tim. "I am glad you're here with me, Jay."
Tim isn't Bruce's son. He isn't the boy whose ghost drapes itself over the shoulders of his grieving father. He isn't a brawler when he fights, and he prefers sci-fi over literary masterpieces.
Tim has two parents. They hardly answer the phone and are gone for months on end, but they exist. They love Tim, in their own distant way.
Tim knows his name is Timothy Jackson Drake and not Jason Peter Todd.
Yet, in the washed-out illumination of an emergency flashlight, the kid faintly beams at Bruce.
"I'll always be here, Dad."

I love the idea of jason being like super weird when he gets into a relationship with y/n
Cuz bro was on the streets then with bruce (aka loner dad) and then the main teen years where we learn about relationships and stuff he was being tortured abd trained to be an assassin.
So when he gets into a relationship, he tries to do something or act a certain boyfriend-y way for you. And he has only 4 options -
1. Batman and catwoman the super loner who doesn't say anything and the girl just keeps making sexual innuendos and steals stuff...which obviously doesn't work out cuz u(prolly) don't steal and he likes to talk to you
2. Bruce wayne the playboy- now imagine jasom trying to be smooth at making sexual innuendos ..he can't. At least not in the start and he lacks the subtlety and honestly he is too infatuated he fucks it up real often. " want some of my ice cream" " well sweetheart , I know some ice you can cream" in a weird rich voice and you're just standing there like wtf . Don't get me wrong he can be super vulgar and upfront but he gets all in his head and bruce wayne slips out.
3. NIGHTWING- man that's like the only person around him who has relationships. But noghtwing is like sunshine and jason really is not. So while nightwing aka Mr pitch perfect serenading his girl works and Mr acrobat from circus pulling his girl into a full on waltz works...it rlly doesn't for jason.
4. Books - bro reads Jane austen, bro likes the classics and therefore he will use those books to find gestures for you. Now once he got u a horse cause you were bored. And while that worked for the fictional Victorian housewife...not so much for a busy person in Gotham.
And he gets so confused with such normal things. "Could you Get me some milk" suddenly your entire kitchen is filled with all the different brands and types of milk a person can buy- 2 of each so u don't run out of it cuz Mr lover had no idea what "some" means.
This is just when he overthinks or gets jealous or insecure . Otherwise he is collected and his own unique way of showing love. But he just messes up sometimes and it's the cutest thing everrr.

Tim: We’re they really your parents if you’re relationship with them isn’t complicated?
Dick: What do you mean by that.
Tim: I mean starting with me my parents cared about me, but were never around. Like my dad died for me but he wouldn’t cancel a business trip to spend time with me.
Tim: Then there’s Bruce who I had to pull out of a depressive spiral and I wasn’t really even his son at that point. I was basically the parent but hes trying now even if he’s emotionally stunted.
Dick: Well I that’s just one person.
Jason: No Tim’s right on this one. I mean my bio dad went to jail and my mom was a drug addict but she tried to take care of me even though turns out she wasn’t my bio mom. Then I found my bio mom and she got me killed and Bruce wouldn’t avenge my death.
Dick: Jason isn’t the best example he’s the token child for parental issues.
Tim: Ok but even you’re an example. Sure your bio parents were great but then they died and gave you a whole bunch of trauma and you were planning revenge at 9.
Tim: Not to mention how much you and Bruce fought when I first showed up.
Dick: I suppose that’s true
Duke: I have a complex parental relationship too. I mean my parents were great and I love them but now visiting them isn’t a lot of fun because all they do is laugh.
Steph: My dad’s a super villian and my mom struggled with addiction.
Cass: My mom wasn’t there and my dad trained me to be a weapon
Dick: I think we are pulling from the wrong group of people to create an accurate study. We’ve all had more than two parents which instantly makes things complicated
Damian: I haven’t had more than two parents
Dick: How dare you after all the time I spent taking care of you?
Tim: Besides even without having 3 or more parents you still have parental issues.
Damian: I suppose. I mean I was raised as an assassin by my mother and then told by my father that I wasn’t allowed to do what I had been trained for.
Tim: Exactly
Steph: And Bruce doesn’t exactly have normal parental relations either. I mean he watched his parents die and then got raised by his butler.
Duke: Do you think Alfred had a normal relationship with his parents?
Steph: He’s a British man in America. You think anyone who leaves their birth country has a normal relationship with their parents?
Duke: Fair enough

Who Are You (and what will you become?)
1(you are here)| 2 | 3 | 4
Summary: “Over the years, I have found that blood means very little.”
The ice clicks against the glass almost inaudibly, condensation dripping down the side.
“So tell me, M. Wayne, why do you think I should even begin to consider you my father?” (all biodad bruce can be read as stand alone but are posted in chronological order)
__________________________________________________
At the tender age of nineteen, Marinette Dupain-Cheng has already become a jaded woman. It doesn’t shine through very often, hidden behind a carefully crafted facade of Parisian-brand carefree attractiveness and pigtailed youthfulness, but there exists, in Marinette, a certain bitterness.
“For a vigilante, you’re not very secretive,” Marinette remarks, keeping her tone measured, almost playful, so as not to draw attention to herself.
“Marinette.” Bruce inclines his head and allows the bartender to serve him a whiskey sour. He doesn’t drink alcohol because it alters his mental state in ways that are unpleasant, but ordering a drink helps him fit in, and with Marinette, the person he wants to talk to, right at his side, he can’t have his normal ginger ale substitute. “It’s good to see you.”
“Mmm.” She takes a sip of her French 75, playing up an interest that Bruce knows is a lie. “M. Wayne, you say that as though we’re familiar with each other.”
“Sabine and I were close,” he says.
Sabine is one of the few people who knew about his existence as Batman that didn’t live in Gotham. Many years ago, they were friends. Colleagues. (More.) Of course she told her daughter about who he was. How could she not have?
Sabine is-- she was--
“Close, you call it,” she says with mock awe, words slurring together. “Closer than close, really. Too close for comfort— at least, too close for you.”
When Bruce and Sabine’s paths crossed all those years ago, he was struggling trying to raise Dick. Sabine was equal parts a mother and a mentor to Dick in all the ways that Bruce couldn’t be. When she left for Paris so abruptly after the two of them parted ways, Dick didn’t take it very well. Even moreso when communications halted permanently. The fact that the radio silence coincided with Marinette’s birth is something only Bruce is privy to.
However awkwardly he and Sabine left off, it doesn’t change the facts. Bruce’s lips thin. “I’m here to offer you a home.”
Swirling her French, Marinette taps at her phone, swiping away at a few messages that she’s not interested in. “I’m nineteen and more than capable of taking care of myself. Though I suppose it stands to reason that it would be difficult for you to know that, what with how busy your extracurriculars keep you.”
“I’m not doubting your capabilities.” He’s looked into what Marinette has been up to over the past nineteen years of her life. He’s never been particularly concerned with her upbringing, not with a woman like Sabine at the helm of her childhood. Bruce was right not to be worried; Marinette has grown into a multi talented, extremely well connected entrepreneur based on her own hard work. Judging by the crowd that she runs with and the multiple charities that she supports both financially and with her own time, she will be a force to be reckoned with in a few years; Tim regularly extols the virtues of the brand MDC, and if he knew that he was sisters with the designer, he’d never stop raving about her. MDC is already being compared to the likes of Dior and Gabriel when they were first starting out. Her finances aren’t anything to scoff at, and at a few galas and charity parties that he’s had to entertain, anyone who's had the privilege to wear an MDC original talks about how sweet and kind the head designer is while complimenting the CEO’s business savvy.
Bruce has to admit that he’s impressed by how she manages to keep her identities separate. No one suspects the head designer to also be manning publicity and business.
He’s been watching her for the past day, and he has to say, for somebody whose parents just died, she carries herself with remarkable ease. If not for the red around her eyes and line of shots on the bartop, Bruce would believe that Tom and Sabine’s death didn’t phase her at all.
“There’s a but, isn’t there?” Marinette says bitterly.
She’s right in that assumption. As skillful as Marinette is in her field, she has no practical combat experience. A brief stint in fencing and martial arts but nothing beyond that. Even if she practiced martial arts for years, that wouldn’t be enough to convince Bruce to let her go off on her own. Martial arts as a hobby is an entirely different game than fighting for one’s life.
Marinette is simply not the kind of person who can face down a League member and come out of it alive.
“It’s for your safety.”
For the first time since entering the bar, Bruce sees a flash of true emotion cross Marinette’s eyes. It’s hard to see the color of her eyes in the dim lighting, but it’s impossible not to see Sabine in how her eyes narrow. Perhaps the dim lighting makes it easier to; in the light of day, Marinette’s eye color— it’s too similar to the shade he sees in the mirror.
“My safety? What about my parent’s safety?”
At that, Bruce internally cringes while keeping his face carefully blank. Tom and Sabine… their end wasn’t pretty. Not the most gruesome deaths he’s ever seen, but it was up there. Bruce never thought the League would do something as cruel as desecrating the corpses of the people they murdered. They may be assassins for hire, but most times, they do have some sort of morals.
The worst part about it is that their death is most likely a result of Sabine’s past relationship with him. Last month, a tabloid that drew comparisons between Marinette and Bruce. It didn’t take long for another person to dredge up pictures from when he was still with Sabine. Tom and Sabine didn’t have enemies well-off enough to hire the League. But Bruce? Bruce did.
“I’m not interested in any protection you have to offer me.” Marinette shakes her head. “Don’t worry. I’m not like you. I won’t become a vigilante out of rage or as a coping mechanism. I’m not going to go chasing after the League in a foolish pursuit of misguided justice.”
But Marinette doesn’t understand. She has a target on her back with her newfound association to him.
“I haven’t been active in your life--”
“Understatement of the year,” Marinette mutters.
“--but I’m not going to let you die when I can prevent it.”
Downing the rest of her French, she takes the Moscow Mule away from Bruce’s hands, eyeing the liquor up on display. She drinks the cold alcohol and revels in the burn that slides down her throat. Marinette swipes on one of the notifications she’s received on her phone in order to respond to it. “You’re a good man, Bruce. But your desire to protect me— what does it stem from? What do we have in common? Why would you use your time and effort on what’s essentially a stranger?”
Bruce has no good answer for this, but he has an obvious one. As soon as it leaves his tongue, it feels wrong. “We share the same blood.”
He can’t bring himself to call Marinette his daughter. That means that he would be her father and he’s not deserving of that title.
Marinette pockets her phone, eyes trained on a set of unusually shaped glasses on the shelves. “If that’s your answer, M. Wayne, let me tell you something. Over the years, I have found that blood means very little.”
The bartender comes around and tops off the whiskey sour. The ice clicks against the glass almost inaudibly, condensation dripping down the side. Bruce can’t tell whether the bartender knows Marinette or not, but he certainly looks concerned enough to, with how his eyes shift between Marinette and himself rapid fire. When the bartender’s gaze settles on Bruce, mouth turned downward, clearly suspicious of his presence, Marinette just waves him off with a gentle smile.
Her smile turns up the same way Tom’s did. She’s right; family is more than blood.
“Your answer to why you want to protect me is that we share blood, but you speak nothing of our relationship. Shouldn’t that have been the first thing you brought up?”
Bruce shifts uncomfortably on the bar stool. Marinette just laughs at his apparent awkwardness. “Talking of blood relations seems to be something you don’t enjoy, and yet the entire premise of your protection rests on it. Tell me, M. Wayne, do you think I should even begin to consider you my father?”
Even as inebriated as Marinette must be, she brings up points that he himself wondered on his way to Paris. Wanting to see Marinette safe goes beyond a simple duty to morality and virtue. Though Bruce is known for adopting kids with tragic backstories, it simply isn’t feasible to adopt every single one he comes across. To bring Marinette into his family at this age, to expose her to the life he lives would be beyond cruel. In essence he’d be replacing two parents with a ticking time bomb: himself.
“Don’t consider me a parent, just a guardian. It’s in my best interest to see you safe, and the best way to do that is to have you move to Gotham, where my colleagues and I can assure you around the clock protection.”
At first, he distanced himself from Sabine and Marinette because he didn’t want to disrupt her current relationship with Tom. Even if the two of them insisted that he could still be part of Marinette’s life, it just didn’t feel right to have the title of father when he wasn’t the one to put in any of the hard work. Then, as Tom and Sabine grew more comfortable in their life together, settled down and opened up a bakery, he was blindsided by Jason’s death. As his daughter grew older and older, there were just too many things in his own life for him to ever hope to kindle a relationship with Marinette.
Marinette laughs, but it’s really more of a bark. Her voice is too hoarse for it to come out any other way. Bruce can’t imagine how much she’s cried this past week. “If you wanted to keep me safe, where were you a week ago? Where were you two years ago? Where were you when I was thirteen? M. Wayne, I’ve heard a lot of rumors about you throughout the years, and I’ve always brushed them off as nothing more than tabloid gossip. But perhaps they got one thing right about you: you’re a liar.”
Marinette stands, swaying slightly.
“This— if you truly want me to uproot my life, I need more than you saying it’s in your best interest. I need—” Marinette reaches up to her earrings and allows her eyes to flutter shut. She needs more than a distant guardian. She needs someone to confide in. Someone she trusts. “It was nice meeting you, but I don’t need your pity. Not now.”
As she weaves through the crowd, Bruce can’t help but wonder whether he made the right decision all those years ago to not be apart of her life.
@biodad-bruce-month
Late to the game as always. This will be a multichapter fic but all parts can be read as one shots (and also as always anything posted to tumblr is never checked for accuracy and stuff so whoop)! They’ll be released in chronological order. If you want to get tagged in all things maribat, instead of commenting it under a fic, I’d appreciate an ask or a dm instead! I haven’t been able to go back through all the previous comments and create a taglist yet but perhaps. eventually.

Jason Todd x Avengers Crossover

Unexpected (part 3)
If he knew that he would be blamed for murdering someone the moment he got back to Gotham, then Jason would’ve waited another week or two before returning.
No matter what a lot of people said, Jason wasn’t stupid. He knows not to expect things that were unlikely to happen.
Jason couldn’t risk raising his hopes when it came to the bats.
He knew that he wasn’t gonna receive a warm welcome filled with hugs and cupcakes. Honestly, the most he expected was a nod of acknowledgment. And if he was lucky, then maybe- maybe he would’ve gotten a smile with the quiet whisper of a welcome back.
It made his heart twist in all the wrong ways to know that his family didn’t trust him as much as he thought. Jason genuinely believed that he and the bats were on good enough terms to earn him the benefit of the doubt.
He forced himself not to flinch as he met Batman’s harsh, distrustful gaze.
“I wasn’t even here when he was killed,” Jason tried to say as calmly as he could, knowing that if he loses his temper, everyone would use it against him. “I was following a case up in New York.”
He couldn’t go back to Arkham! Not again. Not with the Joker only a few cells away from him, taunting him with his laughter— his voice filled with cruel exhilaration as he continuously promised Jason that they would play together once again. How he would soon be reunited with his favorite playmate.
His favorite Robin.
He heard someone suck in a breath behind him.
Jason didn’t expect anyone to defend him. Not against Batman. But still-
He didn’t expect them to just stand and watch as Batman tore him into shreds once again. Batman threw accusation over accusation, yet he never once provided a single piece of evidence that proved it was Jason that did it.
He took a step towards Jason and he had to force himself not to flinch. Batman wouldn’t… not with his kids in the same room.
He ignored the rising panic in his stomach. Jason was safe.
He was safe.
Bruce wouldn’t beat him in the cave. Not in front of everyone. Not in front of Damian.
Jason would be able to walk out of the cave with his ability to walk. He was gonna be okay.
“Look, B. You can even ask them,” he pointed at the spot where Dick and the others were standing. “I told them that I was leaving Gotham for a while.”
Batman turned to where Jason was pointing. “Well?” he asked expectantly.
The cave was engulfed in eerie silence before Tim opened his mouth, faltering a little when he met Jason’s pleading gaze. “He’s not lying Bruce. He told me that he had a mission out of Gotham while we were hanging out a few weeks ago.”
Jason could feel his chest loosen up for a few seconds, thankful that Tim confirmed his statement.
He remembered the day that Tim was talking about. The bats were getting even clingier than usual. They weren’t even trying to hide the fact that they were following Jason anymore.
Tim asked Jason if he wanted to watch a movie and Jason agreed.
The bats were gonna be watching him anyways— they didn’t even try to hide the fact that they bugged him and all the known safehouses he has.
At this point, Jason didn’t know whether he should feel offended with how much they underestimated or relieved.
They already viewed him as dangerous and unpredictable. If they ever find out that Jason’s been holding back, even if it was just a little-
He won’t let them throw him back to Arkham. Jason would rather go back to the League of Assassins.
If Jason wasn’t watching Batman so closely, he would’ve missed the sliver of a nod the man-made.
Jason tried not to think of the fact that Bruce immediately accepted Tim’s answer without hesitation.
For the millionth time in this conversation, he wished that he was wearing his helmet. Instead, he forced his expression to remain calm. To remain bored as turned back to Bruce an eyebrow raised.
“Is that good enough proof for you, old man?” he couldn’t help but spit out, bitterness clear in his voice.
Batman remained unaffected, not even bothering to verbally answer Jason’s question. Instead, he just nodded.
Jason’s heart clenched, of course, he wouldn’t get an apology. Batman was too prideful for that.
“Truth.” Cassandra’s voice rang across the cave, breaking the heavy silence. “No… not lie.”
Batman nodded once again and Cassandra’s eyes met his. It took everything in him to stop a retort from coming out of his mouth.
Couldn’t she have said that a few minutes ago? Before Batman ripped him apart like he was nothing but flimsy paper.
Still, he guessed he should be thankful that she defended him. Even though it was too late.
After a few seconds of no one saying anything, Dick broke the awkwardness with an annoying smile on his face. “Now that that’s settled, why don’t we get that movie started?”
It was only because of all his training that Jason didn’t break down right there.
Of course this was just another thing that they’d sweep under the rug. Something that they would never want to speak off again.
Discussions of what movie they were supposed to watch erupted the room. It didn’t take long for an argument to break out between Damian and Tim.
Jason watched the scene for a few seconds before looking away.
They looked like a real family.
He turned away, these things happened frequently enough for Jason to know that he wasn’t welcomed.
He blocked out all the noise as he walked towards his helmet, eager to put it back on.
It was only a matter of luck that the universe hated him so much that he knocked something down, the thumping noise alerting everyone that he was about to leave.
Jason couldn’t help but feel relieved that he put on his helmet as soon as he got his hands on it.
At least he didn’t have to go to all the trouble to force his expression to remain impassive anymore.
Batman could use it against him.
Dick’s eyebrows furrowed, “Where are you going, Jay? I thought you were joining us tonight.”
“Yeah, well maybe I’m not in the mood to watch a stupid movie tonight.” Jason spits out.
Was Dick being serious right now? There were so many things wrong with that question.
One: Why would Jason want to spend more time with the people who thought he murdered someone and didn’t even bother to defend him.
And two-
No one invited Jason.
Before anyone could say anything else, Jason hopped on his motorcycle. He needed to get out of the cave.
He could feel their eyes on his back but no one bothered to stop him.
The last thing he heard was Cassandra’s voice assuring the bats. “Be back,” she said with enough confidence that one would think that she could command Jason to turn around with only her words. “He will be back.”
Jason held in the harsh remark that threatened to leave his lips.
Plus, it wasn’t like Cassandra was lying. He knew it— and hell, the rest of Bats probably knew it too.
Jason would come back. He always did.
It wasn’t like he had anywhere else to go.
But for now, he needed to get away. He thought that one week would be enough to calm the pit.
It wasn’t.
In fact, he feels like the interaction with the bats today just made it worst.
He’ll stay away from them for two weeks. That should be enough time for the pit to stop screaming at him.
But who would he stay with?
Jason had enough experience to know that the best way to calm the pit was to surround yourself with people you trust.
Kori and Roy were still in space.
And Talia was busy with the civil war against Ra’s.
Jason had no one else.
Except-
His phone grew heavier in his pocket and he remembered that an Avenger owed him a favor.
Clint said that Jason could text him whenever.
And the more he thought about it, the more Jason decided that he did trust the archer in some way.
Jason soon found himself staring at the side mirror of the vehicle and poisonous green eyes stared back.
He quickly averted his eyes.
Clint was his last choice. And Jason couldn’t risk being in the peak of a pit episode without anyone to keep him in his place.
He could do this.
It wasn’t like he had another choice.

Okay I’ve been formulating a stupid villain!tim au more under the cut
This au takes place in the dcau, in this au Jason Todd was not killed by the joker and Tim drake never became Robin. Instead he ends up as the villain Pitohui.
Tim was kidnapped by Two face like in episode 2 of tnba, but instead of being saved by batman Tim was just shot. Batman never appeared to save Tim, and instead was following a lead that ended up with him busting Two face at another time. Thus, Tim was left bleeding to death and alone. He survives the gunshot but spends a delirious couple of days laying in an alley waiting for death before he’s found by Selena Kyle. When she found him, she was in her Catwoman persona, and he was nearly dead. Selena, who didn't particularly want to be burdened with him, took him to Poison Ivy.
Ivy healed Tim because of Selena asking her too, and didn't like Tim very much at first. After learning he has no living family left Ivy decided to train Tim, though she wasn't very happy to do so. Ivy for the most part was more interested in her goals (eco terrorism no shit) and Tim gets swept up in her work. He takes up the name Pitohui, a bird with poisonous feathers and skin, because of his specialization in poisons. He assassinated business officials and those lobbying against various environmental causes. Ivy pretty much just sics him on whoever she needs him to kill while she's off doing more important things.
It's not that Tim doesn't know better, and in fact he is at times ashamed of himself for the path he's taken, but he's never been shown differently. His father was a criminal and the only people who have shown him kindness are villains. As much as he idolizes Batman and Robin, Tim has never seen heroism as an option for him and he's still very much a child.
When Harley Quinn is broken up with the Joker or hanging around Ivy for any other reason, the two of them act more motherly/sisterly to Tim. Harley often brings out more humanity in Ivy and when Selena joins them Tim has some of the happiest days of his life.
Selena and Harley teach Tim hand to hand combat while Pamela teaches him extensively about poisons.
Selena avoids Tim at times because she feels somewhat guilty for indoctrinating him into something more serious than she had intended. Harley cares about Tim but is often away because she is in an abusive relationship with the Joker. Ivy cares about Tim but has a tendency to treat him more like a tool when she is absorbed in her tasks.
Seeing as Tim is a child, he doesn't really understand what exactly is wrong with the way he's being treated. Not only that, he never received a lot of care from his father before the man died, so it's kind of a step up in Tim’s perception.
Tim is still shmarmy and smiley, he quips and has a smart mouth on him. In that regard he's actually kind of similar to Robin, because that's just the kind of kid he is. But he never learns the confidence of a hero, and he doesn't learn to be brave like Robin. While he's still competent and brave in his own way, he fears Two Face. He hates the man but can't bring himself to take any action because of his trauma.
While Tim idolizes Batman and Robin, he is almost afraid to face them because of the shame he feels for his situation. He doesn't do anything to stop it, nor does he argue with Ivy about his assassinations, but he still feels something very deeply uncomfortable when he thinks about the heroes that he cares about so much. This results in Tim avoiding them fervently, and when he absolutely must face them he relies on paralytics. So while Tim is mouthy with most people, pretty much any hero that has interacted with him thinks he's silent as the grave.
Tim’s age disturbs Bruce, seeing a villain as young as him turns his gut. But Bruce has Jason to look after and as a result Tim often slips through the cracks. Both Bruce and Jason are very passionate about turning Tim to good, but the same amount of effort can't be put in because his situation can't really be fixed the way that they go about it.
Anytime Tim is separated from Ivy in any capacity he can sustain himself until he can get back to her. Likewise Ivy has Tim’s loyalty and can call on him wherever she is. The result is that no matter how many speeches Batman delivers to Pitohui or how many times Ivy is put in Arkham, Tim stays for Pamela’s release and waits for her command.
This situation changes for the better later on when: Ivy begins to understand what shes put Tim through, Harley Quinn breaks up with the Joker permanently and begins to stay with Ivy, and Catwoman begins to become more secure with herself and her relationships.
The three of them come together more for Tim and he stops assassinating and begins sabotaging instead. Tim begins to recover from his traumas but is still hesitant to face his previous heroes. He remains in the shadows and works mainly with Harley, Ivy, Selena and at times other female superheroes.

I’ll Make a Million Mistakes
Read here on AO3!
Summary:
“Don’t worry,” Dick says, throwing his arm around Duke’s shoulders. “Everyone in this room has had their teeth knocked out at one point or another. It’s a rite of passage around here.”
“I don’t know how to tell you thith, but that doethn’t happen to normal people. We acthually prefer to keep our teeth, believe it or not.”
“Wait until you get your first major battle scar. Trust me, they’re cool.”
“Y’all need Jethuth.”
Bruce likes to think of himself as a patient man. Even more, he’d like to think it’s a trait he earned all on his own, but anyone who’s met him would testify that he inherited his patience from the man who raised him, and Bruce would have to agree. This level of restraint he possesses is an acquired skill—one that is reserved for the world’s best butlers and for fathers of six. Karen from the PTA wishes she were on Bruce’s level. His exceedingly calm temperament is the only reason Bruce doesn’t melt into a puddle on the ground now, his bones turning into a milky froth because Jesus fucking Christ, hasn’t he had a hard enough night as it is? No person should have to spend two hours solving riddles because Eddie was feeling manic tonight and then be forced to come home to human children. Duke smiles around a mouthful of bloody gauze. “In my defenth, I’ve never even had a cavity before.” “No, you just got your tooth knocked out.” “Teeth.” “What?” “Ith acthually teeth, plural. I lotht two of them.” Bruce facepalms. “Goddamn it.” He ignores the giggles from his other kids, all of whom apparently decided they needed to be present for this conversation. He’s picking his battles tonight.
“Ith not my fault!” Duke points over at Tim, standing against the Batcave’s wall minding his own business. “Ith hith fault.” “It is not. Bruce, don’t listen to him.” “Oh, yeah? Who knocked me into the railing in the firtht plathe?” “That was Jason’s fault. He’s the one who threw the football.” “Actually,” Jason chimes in, “that was Cass. I was an innocent bystander.” “Liar,” Cass says. “Don’t call me a liar.” “Liar.” “You’re the liar. She’s framing me, Bruce, I swear to god. I’ve never done anything wrong to my siblings in my entire life.” Dick makes a spluttering noise. “You once threw a pineapple at my head because I was breathing too loudly!” “And I don’t regret it one bit.” Bruce sighs. He doesn’t have the energy for this. He gently grasps Duke’s chin, being mindful of his sore jaw. “Where?” Duke pulls out the wad of gauze and opens his mouth wide. He points at the space where his front tooth used to be, then a canine on the bottom left which now consists of half a white shard. “Ith thith one and thith one.” Bruce hums. “I can get you a dentist appointment tomorrow afternoon. They’ll put a couple of caps in and you’ll be good as new.” He’ll have to rearrange a few things in his schedule. At least now he has a valid excuse to skip racquetball with Clark. There is no logical reason a bumpkin from Kansas should be better at racquetball than Bruce is, there just isn’t. “Tho my thmile ithn’t permanently ruined? Thath a relief. Thethe babieth are my betht feature,” he says, all the while bloody saliva dribbles from his lip like a deranged vampire. Best feature, definitely. “Don’t worry,” Dick says, throwing his arm around Duke’s shoulders. “Everyone in this room has had their teeth knocked out at one point or another. It’s a rite of passage around here.” “I don’t know how to tell you thith, but that doethn’t happen to normal people. We acthually prefer to keep our teeth, believe it or not.” “Wait until you get your first major battle scar. Trust me, they’re cool.” “Y’all need Jethuth.” “At least it’ll make for a good story one day,” Tim says. “Everyone loves scar stories.” Jason snorts. “People actually like death stories more, but go off I guess.” “Nobody cares that you died, Jay. Find new material.” “You want new material? Check this out.” Jason tugs down the collar of his sweater. He shows off the mostly-faded autopsy scar sliced up his torso and to his shoulders. Bruce winces. Dick yawns. “So? You got autopsied. Big whoop. Scars don’t count if you’re dead when you get them.” He tips his head down, parts a section of his hair with his fingers to show off the fresh scar on his scalp. “Talk to me when you get shot in the head.” Tim rolls his eyes. “You realize how stupid this is, right? We shouldn’t be arguing about who has the worst bodily trauma.” “Why,” Jason says, “because you know you’d lose?” “Because I’ve got you both beat.” He pulls up his t-shirt to display the surgical scar on his abdomen. “Missing spleen. Beat that.” “I lost a kidney. Kidney trumps spleen any day.” Cass rolls up the leg of her shorts to show off her bullet-riddled thigh. “Connect the dots. I win.” “But have you lost a vital organ?” Tim asks. “No.” “Spleens aren’t that vital,” Dick says. “Fuck off, at least you still have one.” “I would prefer to keep my organth,” Duke says. “Juth thaying.” “And you will,” Bruce assures him. “Probably.” “Probably?” “Look, I’m tired. We’re all tired. Can we schedule the scar contest for a later time when I’m hopefully not here to witness it?” Maybe he can ask Alfred to drug his tea from now on. At least then he can rest easy in a drug-induced slumber, knowing all the while that he’s missing the kind of petty arguments no parent should have to hear. “No one said you had to be here,” Dick says. “Anyway, Bane once slammed me against a wall and now my hip throbs when it rains.” “At least your wrist doesn’t click when you move it at the right angle.” Jason shakes his wrist next to Tim’s ear. Tim cringes. “You’re all amateurs,” a new voice says, and Bruce wants to die. Damian and Stephanie appear to have returned from patrol, still in their uniforms. “Try having your entire spine replaced.” Tim wrinkles his nose. “Great, it’s time to hear Damian talk about how much better than us he is. My favorite activity.” “Shut up, Drake. You’ve never experienced pain.” “I got blown up once! I still have burn scars all over my neck and shoulders!” “Eh. I’ve had worse.” Steph grins and holds up her left hand, just happy to be included. (Note to self: ponder whether Stephanie is secretly a golden retriever in human form.) “I have no feeling in these three fingers.” She pokes them to demonstrate. “And should I mention that I was tortured by Black Mask once? No? Because power tools were involved, in case anyone was wondering.” “Do I need to reiterate that I once died in an explosion?” “Jason. Little wing. I’m begging you to shut up about your death.” Cass points to a spot on her ribcage. “Two ribs made of metal. Got shattered during a fight. Four years old.” “My dad used to burn me with cigarettes every time I was bad, so...seven times a week, more or less.” “Oh, same!” Jason and Steph high-five. “My grandfather broke my arm in two places when I made a mistake during a training drill. He made me fight assassins for three hours straight afterward without so much as an ice pack.” Duke looks horrified. “Are you guyth okay?” “No offense, but none of you should talk unless you’ve gone through childbirth.” Stephanie rolls up the top portion of her Batgirl suit just enough to show off the scar across her lower belly. “You think getting blown up is hard? Try spending three hours in labor and having a baby ripped out of you. That’s hard.” Jason wipes away a fake tear. “Boo-hoo, someone had a baby when she was a teenager. Human reproduction doesn’t involve being beaten to death with a crowbar.” “Nobody cares that you died, Jason!” “Indeed,” Damian agrees. “Being stabbed by your clone is far worse than being caught in a little explosion. And I can take a crowbar beating in my sleep.” “I’m gonna kill him, Bruce. I’ll kill him right now. Just say the word and I’ll do it.” Bruce sighs, closing his eyes. “Duke, there are painkillers in the medicine cabinet if you need them. I’ll text you the time of your dentist appointment. The rest of you, please refrain from talking to me for the rest of the night.” Bruce walks away toward the manor, silently praying that he can forget this conversation ever happened. “Hey, who wants to see where Killer Croc bit my ass once?”

Puppy Love
Thanks @kceedraws for helping me with this (awhile ago lol) and coming up with Gilfred
~~~~~~~~~~~
It was a crisp, clear autumn day, all was calm in nature, but all was chaos in the Wayne Manor.
Alfred was having a guest over, well two guests, and Jason, Dick, and Tim were having lots of fun trying to guess who it was.
“An ex-spy?”
Alfred groaned in annoyance as he set the cookies out on the table. “No, Master Todd, not an ex-spy.”
“An ex-assassin?”
“Bloody hell.” Alfred cursed under his breath, “No!”
Tim snorted causing Dick and Jason to look at him. Jason raised his eyebrow, “Oh yeah? What do you think, replacement?”
“An ex-girlfriend.”
Alfred didn’t respond.
Dick spat out the water he was drinking. “No way! No way! It totally is your ex!”
“If I say yes will you be civilized in front of her? She’s bringing her granddaughter too, she’s Master Damian’s age.” Alfred swatted Dick’s hand away from the cookies.
“Speaking of which, where is the demon?” Jason asked, scanning the room.
“Master Damian is with Master Bruce in the Batcave. Miss Cassandra is down there as well, training.” Alfred stated, “Speaking of which, I should go get them. Gina will be arriving soon.”
The boys snickered quietly to themselves as Alfred entered the Batcave. Each of them were equally astonished that Alfred even had ex-girlfriends, but they all realized that he must’ve been young once.
Cass trudged up the stairs and stood wordlessly next to the couch in the living room. Damian and Bruce came out next, Damian was scowling from having his training interrupted (by what he called “a frivolous waste of time”).
Damian slumped onto the couch, pouting. Dick walked over with a grin and rubbed his little brother’s hair. Damian pulled away with a snarl,
“Grayson if you touch my hair one more-“
Damian’s threat was interrupted by the sound of a doorbell and the abrupt opening of the manor doors by Alfred.
“Alfie!” A slender old woman exclaimed as she took off her motorcycle helmet. From behind her, a small blue-black haired girl shifted shyly and gave a small wave to the family butler.
“Welcome Gina, and I presume...Miss Marinette?”
With a slight nod, Marinette crept back behind her grandmother.
“Do come in ladies, the Waynes are in the living room.” Alfred bowed his arm out and gestured to the couch. Gina flicked his bow tie and laughed.
“Quite a nice home you’re looking after.”
“I suppose it is.”
Alfred took Gina’s helmet and hung it on the coat rack. Following her Nonna like a puppy, Marinette silently sat on the couch.
Dick was barely containing his excitement, Alfred’s ex-girlfriend and her adorable granddaughter who could very well be Alfred’s granddaughter?! He was practically bouncing off the walls. Jason was sitting next to him with an arrogant smirk, studying the eleven-year old in front of them, who had just glanced over at Damian, like he knew something they didn’t.
Tim was silent and had an objective, but calculating look on his face. Cass had a hidden smile on her face and Damian…
Well Damian was scowling.
From the moment that little kid laid eyes on him she started blushing and her blue eyes may as well have been heart eyes. With a huff, Damian shifted away from her, much to Marinette’s dismay.
Although Damian was only eleven himself, he thought Marinette a little child unworthy of his attention. Even before he went to live with his father he knew women and men alike would throw themselves at him in order to have an in with his family (after all, the Al Guhl’s were just as influential as the Waynes).
Damian had no interest in even talking to the girl. He had every intention to ignore her in fact.
That proved difficult though.
With a shit-eating grin, Jason announced, rather obnoxiously, “Why don’t you let the two kids play with each other while we talk?
Damian was about to interrupt, showing Jason a threatening slicing motion across his own neck.
“That’s a wonderful idea!” Gina exclaimed, clasping her hands together. Before Marinette or Damian could blink, Gina was shoving them to the front yard. “Have fun, my fairy!” She cooed as she shut the door.
Before Damian could get away Marinette ran in front of him and kissed both of his cheeks. Repulsed, Damian jumped away and tried to run, but before he could make his great escape Marinette spoke.
“Bonjour, I’m Marinette. And you?”
“Not interested.” Damian said shoving Marinette away.
Marinette’s face turned to one of a kicked puppy, but nevertheless, she persisted. With an overdramatic pout she huffed to him,
“You could at least tell me your name instead of being grumpy.”
Anger in his eyes, Damian flipped himself around to face her. “Damian.” He said begrudgingly through gritted teeth.
“See, that wasn’t so hard!” Grabbing his wrist she dragged him over to the grassy part of the yard, “Now what should we play?”
“Nothing. I don’t have time to waste with your frivolous play time pursuits.”
Marinette cocked her head, “Well what do you wanna do?”
“I want to go upstairs and study in peace.”
Marinette’s eyes lit up, “Can I come?”
Damian whipped his head around and opened the front door, “No.”
To emphasize his rejection, he slammed the door in her face before she could follow him in.
~~~~~~
The visits with Gina and Marinette that followed all ended eerily similarly. Marinette doting over him with her puppy love, and Damian taking her affection and shoving it away.
But soon Marinette got too busy to come to Gotham with her grandmother (to the relief of Damian) and after a while of not seeing her, he was content to pronounce that annoying chapter of his life, closed.
That is until the Wayne gala.
Damian expected a night of boring business exchanges and businessmen trying to set him up with their daughters, after all Damian was sixteen and had matured enough to look like a proper young man.
He expected to see lots of women, but never in a million years did he expect to see the obnoxious girl from his childhood, Marinette Dupain-Chang.
And yet, there she was, he missed her walk in, but he didn’t miss her talking to his father.
Stomping over to them, Damian glared at his brothers, who were giggling at the youngest Wayne’s reaction to the aspiring designer's arrival.
“What are you doing here?” Damian hissed, skipping the pleasantries.
“Damian…” Bruce’s tone had an air of warning to it.
“Did you invite her, father?!”
“No.” Marinette said, crossing her arms, “Adrien Agreste invited me as his plus-one.”
Damian stood there dumbfounded. He didn’t even know little miss nobody Dupain-Chang knew the Agreste model. He wrinkled his nose, “Why would he invite you?”
“Damian,” Bruce commanded, “Don’t be rude.”
Marinette mirrored Damian’s scowl, “Is it so hard to believe we’re friends? His best friend couldn’t make it, so he invited me instead.”
Damian raised a brow, but before he could open his mouth Adrien Agreste appeared with a grin.
“I see you met Damian, Marinette!”
“Actually we already know each other.” Marinette said coolly.
“Really?” Adrien asked with a warm smile, “What a weird coincidence.”
Hoping the situation was now resolved, Bruce walked over to greet some other guests.
“I’m so glad two of my friends are getting along!”
Marinette smiled at Adrien dumbly with a blush as Damian responded, “We’re not friends.”
Unfazed, Adrien placed his hand on Damian’s shoulder, “Well I hope we can change that then.”
“Not likely.” Damian muttered underneath his breath as he stalked off.
Damian tried not to watch from afar as he brooded in the corner, but he found his eyes wandering anyway.
Adrien and Marinette were giggling, Damian wasn’t quite sure why, but he knew he didn’t like it. He half expected Marinette to follow him when he stormed off, but no, she was too busy doting over Adrien.
Damian crossed his arms with a huff.
“Somebody’s jealous,” Dick said in a teasing tone.
Damian tutted, “What nonsense are you on about now, Grayson?”
Dick gave Damian a knowing smirk, “Just that you haven’t taken your eyes off of Marinette since-“
“If you’re implying I’m jealous of the Agreste kid because of Dupain-Chang, then you’re delusional.”
Dick shrugged and held his hands up in mock surrender, “Sure, whatever you say little D.”
When his pesky brother finally walked away, Damian focused back on Marinette and Adrien. The blonde boy was extending his hand out to Marinette, causing her to blush.
Damian rolled his eyes, they were so effortlessly agitating, so they were perfect for each other.
Never mind that that particular thought made him more annoyed than before.
Taking her onto the ballroom dance floor, Adrien spun Marinette around. Her face was completely red, but she had the stupidest cute grin on her face.
Damian stomped out of the ballroom, not wanting to watch more. He told himself that he just wanted to go take a break from all the obnoxious business people in the room.
Damian walked aimlessly to the kitchen, where Alfred was currently preparing more food for the guests. Alfred’s eyes furrowed as he looked at Damian.
“What’s wrong Master Damian?” He asked with genuine concern.
“Nothing that concerns you, Pennyworth.” Damian responded with a biting tone.
After seeing Alfred’s unamused expression, Damian sighed, “I didn’t think Dupain-Chang was going to be here tonight.”
Alfred hid his smile, “Ah, and that’s a bad thing? Is she giving you a lot of attention again?”
“No,” Damian scowled, “I don’t understand it. Something must have happened to create a change in her behavior, but I cannot figure it out. She showed up with the Agreste kid, so perhaps her standards have lowered.”
Alfred shook his head disapprovingly, “Master Damian, I thought you didn’t like the affection you got from her, shouldn’t this be a good thing?” Alfred bit his lip, wondering if it would be a good idea to continue, “Unless, of course, you have feelings for the young lady?”
“I most certainly do not!” Damian shot back, “I...just got used to the attention I suppose. Now she’s cold with me.”
“Like you were with her all those years ago?”
“No!” Damian let out a resigned huff at Alfred’s BS-detecting expression, “...yes.”
“Do you think maybe she realized after all those years when you treated her poorly, that she started having a crush on those who were less...blunt?”
“I suppose it’s a possibility.” Damian muttered.
Alfred hummed, “Master Damian, I can tell you first hand that each of the women in Miss Marinette’s family are remarkable. I missed my chance, but you don’t have to. Speak to her, or you’ll regret it, I know I did…”
In silent contemplation about Gina, Alfred went back to cooking.
Damian looked at his shoes for a minute, seemingly trying to figure out if he should take his butler’s advice. After a beat of hesitation, Damian went back into the party. He walked into the ballroom like a man on a mission, and of course, he did have one.
To get her back.

jason had just settled onto his couch with a jane austen novel and his favourite peach iced tea when damian crept in through his window. he sighed internally and decided to simply ignore him. he had told damian to use the front door (nevermind the fact that jason rarely used the door) and more importantly? he was freaking comfortable. after a few minutes as jason flipped idly through the book, damian cleared his throat. jason sighed again, outwardly this time and reluctantly dragged his eyes up to his youngest brother. baby bat was shivering slightly from the rain outside and jason simply rasied an eyebrow as he sipped at his tea. scowling, dami stomped over to jasons bathroom to dry off. he rolled his eyes. how dramatic. damian was acting like he sentenced titus and alfred the cat to their deaths instead of how he was actually saving jason from deep cleaning his rain soaked carpet. (he was still going to deep clean the carpet the next time he tidied up but still)
when damian stalked back into the room, looking less like a wet, angry kitten and more like a dry, angry kitten, jason titled his head back and established eye contact.
"so what brings you over to my neck of the woods, demon spawn?"
instead of snapping back like jason expected, damian simply stood there looking extremely uncomfortable. he shuffled his feet, opened his mouth then closed it and sat next to jason on the couch he splurged way too much on.
"i don't know how to tell you this" dami began, hesitant "but i believe harper is experiencing thoughts of suicide"
jason jerked up, almost knocking over his tea (and what a damn waste that would be) before fixing damian with a look. he hadnt noticed anything different in roy lately but he knew more than anyone that depression acted strangely and was hard to pinpoint. his mind raced with thoughts of why roy might be suddenly suicidal, from a sudden relapse to not getting a happy meal toy included in his 3.99 box of clogged arteries. "why do you say that, damian?"
"i have been keeping an eye on his health since he became a close confidant to you and last night he said something worrying that i am still not able to parse the meaning of" jason smiled lightly at that, in damian speak he was basically declaring that he cared for roy- if for nothing else than for how happy he made jason. still he shook it off and asked what roy had said that was worrying dami.
"he was patrolling last night" jason knew that. roy had been picking up his patrols since jason had a nasty leg wound. it was the reason he wasn't out tonight. "and he was on the phone with an unknown person, though i am inclined to believe it was either Starfire or Canary" okay, still not surprising "and then he said that the only place he could die happy was between your thighs" oh hello blue screen. yes jasons mind was in the middle of rebooting but could you hurry it along? he almost missed what damian said next. "not only does he wish for death upon himself, he wishes for you to give it to him!"
"damian" jason managed, frantically trying to figure out a way to explain to his baby brother without including his sex life. "uhh its just an expression"
damians face brightened up slightly. "really? he does not wish to smother himself between your thighs?"
"yeah, its like...like just a way to say... mind your business? mmhmm" he struggled to get out, pulling an explanation out of his ass.
"you have told father to mind his business a thousand times but i dont recal you ever using that one. is it new?"
oh god. jason would rather die again than continue this conversation.
"uhh its only used if you're close to someone" jason didnt know what he didnt wrong but dami's eyes widened in clear worry. "i thought you and father were reconnecting? has something happened? are you fighting again?"
well shit. jason had not thought this one through. fuck roy and fuck his mile wide kink that centered around jasons thighs. he was going to kill him. and he wouldnt even use his thighs. "oh nonono dami we're fine, just not as close as me and roy" he hedged, pleading to gods he didnt believe in to stop this conversation with whatever means necessary. strike him dead if need be but *please*. damians eyes narrowed "and exactly how close are you with harper, jason?" jason stared in disbelief. how had his nice relaxing evening turned into such a shitshow? damian was fine with roy when he and jason were just friends but now that he was (correctly) assuming a relationship, his over protective instincts were kicking in? christ. he remembered how when dick and babs finally started dating (again), damian seemingly lost all respect for her and called her an evil harlot more than once.
thankfully he was saved by answering in the form of the best person jason had ever met aka duke thomas. he announced his presence by awkwardly coughing. jason met his dark eyes and mouthed 'help me' over damians head. duke smiled as if it was getting pulled out of him by torture but nodded.
"hey dames, dick wanted you to join him by the docks when you finished up here" damian scowled "cant you see i am clearly not finished yet"
"hah, well dick was facing up against scarecrow and i think he needed some back up but you know him"
"yes, he wont admit he needs help when he very clearly does" damian sighed "very well, ill go check on dick. you stay and question jason. " and with that damian clambered out the window and after he disappeared from sight, jason threw his head back to stare at his ceiling and groaned. duke laughed at him.
"hey daisy duke?" duke grumbled at the nickname and jason cracked a smile "how did you know i needed back up?" duke winced and ran a hand over his dreads. he made a face and jasons soul was slowly draining out of his body. "oh haha funny story" duke rocked back on his feet and faked laughed "damians com was still connected to the channel" jason froze.
"who was on the channel oh my god" duke smiled thinly and his hand paused on his head. "other than me? everyone." jason buried his head in his hands and let out a high pitched whine. duke consolingly rubbed his shoulder. this is why jason loved him. he hadn't even laughed at jason like tim, dick or steph would or started plotting death like damian started to. he and cass would just offer support. jasons favorite brother and sister right here folks. duke sat down beside him
"listen. i know what it's like to be outed when youre not ready and when i heard damian grilling you about roy, i thought i would help" jason turned and stared at his brother. duke was staring at his hands and avoiding eye contact. "i got caught with a boy when i was 15 in high school. its pretty shitty to be gay and poor in a homophobic neighbourhood but its worse to be gay, poor and black." jason knocked shoulders with him. "if you tell me the name of whatever asshat outed you, I'll shoot him for you." duke let out a waterly laugh. "they kept bullying me for being gay but if they even listened, they would have realised that im pan" he joked "its a completely different thing after all". jason snorted
"that was horrible"
duke winced "yeah, it was wasnt it. im bad at this" it was jasons turn to avoid eye contact now.
"talia once caught me with a league operative. a male operative. i was so paranoid for days until i caught shiva leaving her rooms. i got the courage to tell her i was bi and she just patted my cheek and asked how my training was going."
duke huffed out a laugh. "bruce gives you shit but i for one think your lesbians moms are cool"
jason laughed with him "just wait until you meet Ducra. shes a badass"
"ducra?" he questioned with a weird look. "how many moms do you actually have? i knew about diana and your assassin moms but thats a new name" jason burst into laughter at the expression on dukes face. "its not fair man. steph is the only other one with a mom and you have four! you need to share" jason choked on his laughter and shoved duke.
"first of all, its only *three*. ducra is like my badass abuela"
"dont you already have a badass grandma? have you forgotten about Ma Gunn? she threatened to shoot bruce in the dick last week!"
"yes well excuse you i need strong female role models in my life, fuck you" the two of them continued to joke around for a little while longer before jason caught a flash of black kelvar outside his window and sighed. duke followed his eyes and smiled before patting jasons shoulder and pushing off. "have fun with the one strong male role model in your life. im going to see if cass needs help" both of them knew that cass wouldn't need help but jason accepted the excuse for what it was. "me and steph are still coming over to study tomorrow. college is kicking my ass and i need you to explain this English assignment to me"
jason scoffed "im not writing your essay for you"
"eh worth a try. bye jace" duke gave a two fingered salute and slipped out the window. jason took the brief reprieve to sip his tea and mourned when he discovered the ice had melted and watered down the peach taste. for the third time that night, someone crept into his window. oh well. third times the charm right? jason wasn't going to acknowledge bruce until he said something himself. it was a repeat of damian. jasom read his book as it got increasingly uncomfortable.
"jason."
"bruce" jason drawled, not lifting his eyes from his book. bruce grunted like the neanderthal he was and jason finally huffed out a heaving breath before marking his page and looking up. bruce looked supremely uncomfortable. actually his face looked exceedingly neutral but jason knew how to read bruce and that was the brow furrow of how do i deal with jason without fucking it up? jason was well famailairsed with that one.
"you know i love you" jasons own eyebrows rose. bruce only said 'i love you' like four times a year tops. and he usually never wasted it on jason. bruce deflated at whatever face jason must have made. goddamn it. this was why jason always fought with bruce with his helmet on, he couldnt control his facial expressions for shit. "no you dont know that." bruce smiled thinly and to jasons suprise, quickly crossed the room and knelt, placing his hands on jasons shoulders.
"even if you dont believe it, and its my own fault that you do and i hate that i ever caused you to even doubt my love for you, i swear that i do, jay lad" jason was completely frozen. he had expected bruce to yell at him for letting roy go unchecked on patrol last night and how irresponsible he was yada yada, not this declaration of feelings that he had no clue how to deal with. he couldnt remember the last time bruce called him that. it had to have been when he was still in those scaly green panties and pixie boots. and not the adult verison that jason picked up from a halloween store on a whim just to see roys eyes.
bruce sighed and drew jason into a hug. when bruces shoulder started getting wet, jason was horrified to realise he was crying. "i wanted you to know that i wouldnt love you any less for loving a man. but you have to know that i love you in the first place for that to happen" bruce said self deprecating.
"shut the fuck up" jason said sniffling and gripping his dads back. "i hate you"
bruce laughed softly at him before pressing a kiss to the side of jasons head. "i want you to know that i expect roy-and you- over at dinner on sunday. i need to meet the man that stole my babys heart" he murmured. jason laughed wetly "youve already met roy, you just want to con me into actually coming to family dinner"
bruce smiled "that was before i knew you two were dating. roy needs to know what hes getting into" jason leaned back enough to stare into bruces eyes and weakly punched him in the chest "dont threaten my boyfriend. he refused to look at me for two weeks after t was done with him" bruce sighed longingly "its times like this when i remember what caused me to love talia in the first place."
"bruce!" the aforementioned man laughed and hugged jason tightly before stepping back a few steps. "Sunday dinner. you and roy. 8 pm." on a whim jason reached out and snagged bruces hand. "hey" he started, swallowing "you wanna stay for a while? we could watch a movie or something" bruces eyes softened and he nodded. "let me change out of the suit."
and if roy had crept in after patrol only to see jason napping on his dads chest to a shitty action movie playing in the background and took several pictures, well that bruces fault for not waking up when roy stumbled it. (nevermind the fact that bruce had every single one of those pictures saved on his phone) (nevermind the fact that after roy put his phone away, he was greeted to the sight of batman glaring at him as he twisted a batarang around his fingers. it was sorta ruined by the fact that jasons curls was hiding the lower half of his face but roy was still adequately terrified)

Since I’m probably never gonna write it, take my self indulgent Age Swap Batman AU as in:
Bruce Wayne, 12, becomes the side kick to all of Gotham’s not yet unionized vigilantes.
It starts something like this: Gotham has many vigilantes, but all of them are useless because none of them are heroes and Bruce’s parents still died
And Gotham’s vigilantes aren’t organized, not really. They each stick to their part of the city, their particular kind of crime and they don’t communicate unless the Joker threatens to blow up Gotham again (and even then it’s a coin toss)
So Bruce decides he’ll become the hero. He makes himself a costume and sneaks out of the manor at night
Robin is the first one he runs into.
Dick Grayson clawed his way out of hell. He killed many, too many (first for the Court, then the Court) and being Robin is his way of repentance. He definitely doesn’t want a child out on the streets, but he doesn’t trust the other vigilantes
The Red Hood is more an anti-hero, really. Jason Todd survived, got the wrong (or the right) kind of attention and when Black Mask wasn’t looking, he snapped his neck and built up an empire. He kills, he hires kids and keeps them in school and off the streets. But when Bruce can’t be convinced to stay home and stay safe - well, people start talking. The Red Hood is kinder now. He starts using knives again instead of guns when he’s running with the small shadow
Barbara Gordon works for the police. She runs their database and she’s the one who tells Alfred what his charge is up to. She’s also the only Gotham vigilante who works with the Justice League because they have a code Oracle knows and feet she can rely on to walk when she can’t.
Tim Drake doesn’t put on tights, but the Drakes were long standing friends of the Waynes (he babysitted toddler Bruce in his teens!) and when WE starts doing shady business, he quickly inserts himself. And maybe he’s also the one who starts making weapons and armor for Gotham’s vigilantes.
Stephanie Brown starts when Cluemaster got out of control, but she didn’t stop when he did. Steph is full of rage, she has a temper and she teaches the little black bat how to use this anger.
Duke Thomas is not a vigilante per choice so much as a defense. His parents died to protect him from a mad man and to keep him a secret. So he does the same. There are more metas in Gotham than most people know. Duke keeps them safe and a secret.
Cassandra Cain and Damian al Ghul are a package deal. Damian has always had a soft spot for strays and Cassandra had wanted a home and a brother was a good bonus. She’s also the only one who didn’t hesitate when Bruce (15 then, calling most of the others “Uncle” or “Aunt” already, having created a family) comes asking for training. She has met him once already, after all, when he was a baby.
Damian al Ghul is the last to make himself at home in Gotham. He arrives without his family’s fighters, angry and full of rage because he gave his son away to his half-brother so he’d be safe. And he nearly died because of these vigilantes’ reckless. So he wants to take Bruce away.
And Bruce really isn’t on board with that. Gotham is his home and some random guy (“He’s the second in command of the League of Assassins.” “Yeah, I really don’t care, Uncle Tim.”) can’t change that.
Other relevant stuff is that Dick, Alfred and Damian get into a more subtle (in Alfred’s case) and more extravagant “I’m Bruce’s father” battle
Duke wins by being the cool fun uncle with neat powers
Jason has a freak out the first time he patrols with Bruce because “oh gosh I can’t take out a gun in front of a traumatized kid”
Steph, Tim and Babs are the first three to actually really work together not just for Bruce’s sake but because they’re better together
Dick and Jason take the longest because Dick has a very strict “no-kill” rule and Jason doesn’t
They create a Bat-Cave as a safe place supervised space for Bruce to train in but after a while everyone starts hanging out there
They do holidays at the manor
Jason picks Bruce up at school once with his bike because other kids bully him. They don’t after this.
Bruce and Cass dance together a lot! He didn’t have his growth spurt yet when they meet so they’re about the same height

Could/Should/Did: Jason Todd-Intro
Jason Todd x reader
Word Count: 510
Summary: Jason is dating you, a vigilante and former assassin known as Corvid, and it’s time to come clean about it to the family.
Note: Alright, this is the first fic for my Could Have/Should Have/Did Go fics. Each will be 4 parts (Intro, Could, Should, Did).
You and Jason were already waiting on the roof of the building that’d been designated “No Man’s Land” since the fragile truce he’d formed with his family upon his return to the city as the Red Hood. There was to be a meeting with the dysfunctional mess colloquially known as the ‘Batfam’ atop that roof, and you were going to be formally introduced to them for the first time. Nervous couldn’t even begin to describe what you were feeling at the moment. There was simply no way to know how they would react to your existence let alone your . . . history.
Years ago, you’d first met the zombie wearing Jason Todd’s face when Talia brought him back to the League’s base. As her assistant, it was your job to mind him during all the tests and whatnot, so you’d naturally gotten attached. Then once he woke and started training under various questionable people, you’d been tasked with keeping an eye on him. Before, you’d grown to care for his well-being physically; it was that next period that you started loving the man that had been hiding dormant behind the catatonia. Luckily for you, he’d also grown quite fond of you. During those years, between training and missions and both of you practically raising little Damian Al Ghul since Talia was so busy, you’d gotten romantically involved. Then Talia ferried Damian away from his crazed grandfather, and you’d been relieved of your duty. Naturally, you’d followed the boy that was essentially your son to Gotham to keep an eye on his safety from a distance. You ran into Jason, and the rest--as they say--was history.
Now, months later, the Bats had been sniffing around Jason’s private life saying they wanted to get to know him again. They knew he’d been working with a new vigilante known as Corvid, and they knew he was dating someone. Responsibly, the two of you decided to come clean about you before they dug too deep and came to all the wrong conclusions.
Jason’s gloved hand squeezed your shoulder comfortingly. “It’ll be fine.”
“You don’t know that.”
“Sure I do,” he shrugged. “If they decide to be hypocrites, we kick ass and leave. Easy.”
You snorted a little at the ridiculousness of the notion.
“And at least you’ll get to see the demon again.”
There was seemingly no fooling him about how much you missed your son; you just couldn’t hide the twinges of jealousy when Jason talked about the man he was growing up to be. “What if he doesn’t remember me? He was so little.”
“He was eight,” Jason argued. “I remember plenty from that age, and he’s twice as smart as me. It’ll be fine.”
You only nodded, hoping with all your heart that he was right.
Silence fell between you.
Then, seemingly all in one rapid flurry of movement, the Bats arrived: Nightwing, Robin, Red Robin, and Batman. Without a doubt, Oracle was already listening in and watching somehow.
It was naturally Bruce that broke the awkward silence. “Red Hood, who is this?”

Of Casual Encounters And Late Nights
I fell face first into the Maribat hole and now I’m in too deep. Thanks to everyone over at the Maribat discord server for being so incredibly lovely <3
Next Ao3
-
When one of Gotham’s villains decided to wreak havoc in Paris, Batman saw fit to send one of his sons to investigate further before deciding whether or not it was necessary to call in the whole family. Jason was more than happy to be the chosen one and less than a day later he was walking through the streets of the City of Lights trying to track down one of the Penguin’s goons.
While on the flight he had been scheming with Tim about possible courses of action to find as quickly as possible the new base of the Penguin and that’s what caused him to be led into a goose chase all around the city late at night following a couple of guys that, according to his brother, were part of the henchmen the villain had hired while in the new city.
Immersed as he was in thinking how to infiltrate the quarters he dropped his guard for a mere second but even that was enough for him to be pinned into the wall by two of the guys he was following. Jason cursed under his breath and tried his best to break free. He was a trained assassin goddammit, he wasn’t about to let these brainless schmucks think they could defeat him. Just as he reached for the inside pocket of his jacket where his weapons were a red shadow dropped from the roof next to the alley and in two quick swipes had the idiots tied up while the third one attempted a pathetic threat that was met with an icy blue stare that made him turn on his heel and run.
“Oh no you don’t”. With practiced ease he threw a knife at the retreating figure nailing him right on the calf making him trip and land face first into the street. With a small smirk he retrieved the cursing man and brought him back to the alley, only then paying attention to the red figure. He had to do a double take as all he could think of at first was “Those are a little too many spots”. As he recovered from that though, he looked at her in the eye with skepticism. “I wasn’t aware Paris had heroes”
“You’re new here I assume then?” the girl seemed to be giving him a once over to make sure he was okay before continuing “I’m Ladybug, I take care of Paris and its citizens.”
“Nice meeting you Ladybug” he nodded in acknowledgement and then begrudgingly added a small “Thank you for helping, though I could’ve beat them myself”
She was sitting in the shadow of the building next to them and the dim light made it almost hard to see her eyes but he could tell she was smiling by the sheer amount of amusement in her tone “Oh I’m sure you could have, that knife throw was impressive but here I’d rather resolve as many things as possible without resolving to that type of violence.”
Sirens could be heard approaching their position and Ladybug turned to him again “You should get going, I’ll hand these three over to the police”
Jason definitely felt the need to protest arise but if he wanted to recover from this and keep his low profile while in the city he had better do as the woman said and nodded with a chuckle  “Until we meet again Ladybug then” he said and retreated back to his hotel for the night.

Marinette was not the type to linger while thinking about her encounters with civilians but there was something about this guy that left her unsettled. She was being honest when she said he could probably take the thugs out but if his approach to capturing the running guy was anything to go by, had she not intervened the fight would’ve ended a lot worse than it did. She supposed she couldn’t blame the guy for knowing how to defend himself, a lot of people in Paris started learning some kind of self-defense to at least make akuma attacks a bit more bearable. The bluenette tried to convince herself that there was nothing to worry about with this guy but then she remembered his movements and the glint in his eyes when he assured her he would’ve been okay. Fiery yet calculated (and a bit cocky if she was honest). He was used to this type of situations apparently.
“Should I be worried about him Tikki?” She turned to the tiny god floating by her monitor with a pensive expression “I have never seen him before, he didn’t know Ladybug which means he’s a foreigner and for all we know he could be dangerous”
“Or maybe he’s just well prepared. His accent sounded american, and you know they have their fair share of heroes and villains there too.” The kwami floated closer to Mari and sat on top of her head giving her gentle pats.
“I guess you’re right… I would like to keep an eye on him nonetheless if I see him again. You never know and if somehow Hawkmoth manages to snag him and turn him into an akuma…” She shivered at the thought. Ladybug and her team had fought many akumas in the previous years but the nagging feeling at the back of her head insisted that she wouldn’t like to fight against this one.
She decided she needed more information on this stranger.
As the young woman debated with herself Tikki could only stare at her in hopes that she would crawl out of the spiral of thoughts on her own. When that didn’t happen she flew in front of her chosen and patted her cheeks. “You have classes tomorrow early, you should go to sleep Marinette. You can think about all of this in the morning”
“Oh...oh right! I almost forgot about that. I have to finish my outline for the project and start sewing the prototype for-”
Tikki could see the anxiety slowly creeping on Mari’s face and put a stop to it before it could spiral out of control. “That can wait, you need sleep and if you started now it would probably go wrong somewhere and you’d have to start it from scratch later but you’d be also tired”
“You’re right Tikki. I don’t know what I’d do without you” She directed a soft smile to the tiny kwami and nuzzled her gently against her cheek “Goodnight”
“Goodnight Marinette” Tikki said before going back to her little fairy house her chosen had made just for her
After the lights were off and she had snuggled under the blankets Mari let her thoughts wander free for a moment and ugh. The young fashion designer had been so busy with her Ladybug duties lately she had started neglecting the rest of them. If she wanted to succeed in her career path and pass her classes she certainly needed to start working harder as finals were approaching at an alarming rate.
Why she had ever thought a double degree in fashion design and business was a good idea was beyond her, she imagined it would be worth it in the end to be able to make a name for herself in the industry but so far she was only regretting making a schedule that alloted for a maximum of 5 hours of sleep every night.
But it was what it was and for now all she could do was head to bed and hope her alarm could wake her up in the morning.
-
That’s it for now, I’m hoping to add more to it in the future after finals are done. Thanks for reading!

Can you please recommend some recent good Jason fics? I'm kinda still falling in the fandom, but already finished all the most recommended stuff like Not so outlaw or Retrograde motion
I can give you a few recent bookmarks of mine and I’ll give you a few of my favorites. I assume you know what I write so I’m not gonna warn for the possible types of fics you’re gonna find here.
Runneth Over and All That Jazz - thenafics
If it weren’t for his chest, Jason would be nearly impossible to recognize as an omega. He’s taller and more muscular than most omegas so with his deep voice, no one would ever guess. If it weren’t for his body’s absolute betrayal. Jason, like pretty much all adult omegas, produces milk. It’s meant to help reinforce pack bonds and keep pups adopted into a pack fed. That’s not the problem, that part of it is manageable with absorbent pads in shirts and semi-regular use of a breast pump. It sucks, but it’s not the problem. The problem is that Jason’s pack bonds are weak, so his body will let down and start producing milk on a hair trigger. He’s peak fertile age and tangentially part of a mostly alpha pack, but not bonded well enough to balance his hormones, so his body has decided to try and tempt his pack into bonds with milk.Is it working?-The finished version of my most asked after WIP from evil author day-
Rescue Night - strikeyourcolors
(AU) Jason is trying to make a food delivery when he stumbles across a hostage situation. The captors claim he’s Nightwing, the guy claims he’s just a stripper, and Jason just wants to go home. Unfortunately, it seems he’s going to have to launch a rescue operation. The night just keeps going downhill.
like falling apples - wajjs
If Gotham’s a force of nature, so much akin to gravity itself, then he is the very apple succumbing to its rules and desires.
Daddy Bats and Mother Hen - River9Noble
Jason Todd is back from the dead and pissed as all hell that Bruce hasn’t killed the Joker. Red Hood wants nothing more than to turn his back on the entire Batfamily - but instead, every time he turns around, they’re watching him. He just wants to be left alone… but that chicken noodle soup does taste delicious.
Keeping Secrets From Yourself - WithTheKeyIsKing
Looking back, the signs are all there. But they never noticed it about themselves.
They never noticed how Bruce did.
No Place In Heaven - DarcySkat
Martha and Thomas talk to Bruce about his son.
Bruce thinks it’s Damian.
Lightweight - taugex (I love this story)
Bruce returns to his office after back to back meetings to find his good brandy opened and his sidekick drunk.
Blanket, I rec anything by Skalidra, firefright, scandalsavage, WithTheKeyIsKing, daemoninwhite, WorkingChemistry, lurkinglurkerwholurks, and Ellegrine. I’m going to stop there because, frankly, there are a lot of authors I’d blanket rec.
Requiem - scandalsavage
He blinks as his brain takes it’s sweet fucking time processing what his eyes are seeing.
“So you’re me, huh?” the kid says, rocking back and forth from his heels to his toes like he can’t sit still for three god damn seconds.
“That’s pretty cool. You’re huge.”
Jason hates him. He hates those stupid fucking curls. He hates that stupid bubbly energy. He hates that fucking earnestness, that eagerness to please. He hates that goddamn costume.
He hates the way the kid clings to Bruce’s shadow.
He despises that hand Bruce has on his shoulder.
The poisoned apple (far from the tree) - inanhourofdreaming
“I mean, your first mother wasn’t…fuck, how do I say this?” Tim pauses to breathe. “You’ve never met your mother, Jason. Her name was Ophelia Frump.”
Where Jason has blood family after all, but they’re a little, well…weird.
The legends and the myths - Syngaly
Jason Todd is the best liar Bruce’s ever met.
Jason Todd is the worst liar Bruce’s ever met.
It’s a problem.
Unspoken Rule - YukinaZero
In an alternate universe where Jason Todd finishes his training with the League of Assassins and simply returns home, Damian asks him why he has never confronted Bruce on the matters surrounding his death.
Or: Jason and Daimion have a heart to heart, and I fail miserably in an attempt to write angst.
You’re Alone ‘til You’re Not Alone - WorkingChemistry
Dick has moved to Bludhaven to get away from Bruce and is doing his best to establish himself as Nightwing. It’s going well, but it would probably go better if he didn’t come running every time Bruce calls.
This time Bruce needs him on babysitting duty, and it’s not just for Gotham. Bruce has League work, Jason can’t leave the state, and Alfred’s on vacation so that leaves Dick to pick up the slack once again. Jason isn’t pleased with the situation either, so there’s that… Dick’s just hoping he can bribe Jason into spending the weekend in the library so he won’t have to deal with the prickly boy.
Then they find evidence of a prostitution ring sending young children into forced heats and kidnapping them. Can they set aside their issues, or is Roy going to be stuck playing referee the whole time?
Familiar Faces - firefright, Skalidra
A mission to save a group of slaves from auction goes swiftly wrong when Jason, a former slave himself, runs into a familiar face while undercover at the party preceding it. And unfortunately for both him and his partner in crime, Dick, Slade has no intention of letting his property go again.
Want - Take - Have - daemoninwhite
Dick presents as an alpha and eventually leaves. When Bruce takes in Jason, he decides to do everything in his power to stop history from repeating. (Bruce will never be alone again.)
Mutually Beneficial - scandalsavage
Jason knows who Slade Wilson is and that he should stay away from him.
He knows the man is a vicious competitor of his father’s with a business ethic firmly in the dark gray to black side of the spectrum.
He also knows that his older brother drank too much one night, while he was in college, and fell for Wilson’s sweet talk, whatever that could possibly sound like, and that the older man still, years later, finds ways suggestively drop Dick’s name into conversations with their father.
So when he sees the man’s signature white hair and eye patch approaching his position at the bar, Jason makes a real attempt to avoid him.
Take Your Finger Off The Trigger - Skalidra
Jason Todd was Talon, the enforcer and right hand of Owlman, right up until he was killed. But then, when he comes back to life and his killer is still running free, with no sign of mourning by the two people who always claimed he was theirs, his agenda changes. He becomes Red Hood, a mercenary bent on taking down any and all operations run by the Owls. Finally, one of his jobs lands him back in Gotham, and he comes face to face with his two former allies.
Happy Reading.

The Worst of 2019
Tumblr media
I had to follow-up my “Best of 2019″ list with its opposite universe counterpart but before I give the movies that made me suffer another lashing, let’s make a couple of things clear. I’m not a paid professional and even if I was, all I would be is a film critic. Making movies is hard. Nobody in the industry aims to do a bad job - there are much easier ways to make a living. Even though I might’ve hated these films with a passion that still smolders now, I’ve got mad respect for anyone who decides to put themselves out there and put together a movie. At the end of the day, your work is going to live on. You made something millions will see. Me? I’ll ultimately fade away. Take this into consideration as we single out the movies that tried and failed, sometimes spectacularly.
10. Cats
Cats is the kind of movie that doesn’t come around often. It’s actually kind of fascinating to watch, or it would be if it weren’t so boring. Rebel Wilson (who was destined to have a movie on this list when she starred in The Hustle) plays a cat who unzips her skin to reveal an outfit… above her skin again? She leads a choreographed troupe of singing mice and cockroaches that fill you with terror and confusion. It’s as if they’ve been scaled so the actors could scoop them up and swallow them whole - as cats would do - but because human proportions are so different from cat’s the objects and other animals they interact with change size from scene to scene. Meanwhile, Idris Elba is prowling around with his coat all open, his non-existent junk exposed to all who want to see. Our main character is so bland and unmemorable she makes no impact on you whatsoever. There’s magic in a plot that’s composed almost entirely of introductions - which might make it accurate to the broadway show but not entertaining as a movie -, dodgy special effects in every frame, lame jokes coming from the left and the right… and yet, I don’t hate this film like I do the others on this list. In fact, a part of me even admires Cats.
The thing is, had this movie worked, it would’ve been hailed as genius. It didn’t so it’s being ridiculed but I have to give it points for its ambition and willingness to take chances. That means a lot in a year in which every single one of the top ten grossing films were sequels, remakes or expansions of already-existing properties.The gamble didn’t pay off, but Cats had the guts to walk up to the plate.
9. Dumbo
I was tempted to lump The Lion King and Aladdin along with this tale of a baby elephant that learns to fly while a family of circus performers learn that the big circus tycoon played by Michael Keaton is a meanie. Few of the Disney “live-action” remakes do anything to validate their existence. They’re just feeding you what you can already watch at home for free because you probably already own the originals on home video or you have Disney+. I’m going to single out Dumbo as the worst because it actually tried something different and failed spectacularly. This means we can expect all future Disney remakes to take as few chances as possible.
8. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot
There are other movies I could’ve put in this spot (see the Runner-Ups section below for examples) but I had to consider the experience as well as the movie itself. Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is an unfunny comedy that walks into the room as if it’s going to marry your mother and be your new father. It makes fun of the very thing it’s doing. This might make it appealing to members of the “View Askewniverse” cult but not to me. Whether you’ve been brainwashed by Kevin Smith or not, it’s impossible to sit through the painful bonus material which follows the film, particularly the interviews conducted by Jason Mewes. The actor displays no charisma whatsoever while asking questions you don’t care about to people who obviously don’t want to be on camera. I get what Smith was doing; he was trying to give his fans more than just the movie but anyone in their right mind should’ve seen the bonus footage and burned it.
4. Dark Phoenix
What a disappointing way to end the X-Men franchise. Dull until the very end and then interesting for just enough time to make you realize you didn’t just dream it all, the movie was a bad idea from the start. We haven’t known the young version of the X-Men long enough for this story to mean anything and the choices made to make this story more faithful to the comics makes you wonder if you stepped into the wrong movie. Even before seeing Dark Phoenix, I thought people were being too harsh on The Last Stand. They did a lot of things wrong in 2006 but they had the good sense to leave out the aliens. It’s not great but it’s been somewhat redeemed since because its plot advanced the series and meant something in the end. Even if Disney had considered keeping this franchise alive while it was acquiring Fox, this is such a mess they now have no choice but to reboot the whole thing.
4. Jexi
Jexi feels like it just escaped from a time capsule. Even when it would’ve been new, it wouldn’t have been funny. This had no business appearing in theatres and watching the trailer again reminded me of why I hated it as much as I did. If you suspect you have mutant powers that just need to be unlocked by a traumatic or life-altering event, barricade your doors and start playing this movie. You’ll want to escape so desperately, you might suddenly develop the ability to bend space and time.
6. Rambo: Last Blood
This 5th entry in the Rambo series didn’t even have the guts to commit to being a proper conclusion. The titular character appears to succumb to his wounds as the picture closes… only to get up and go find medical attention during the end credits. Senselessly gory and violent, its depiction of Mexico leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
5. Shaft
No one was asking for this movie, not even fans of the original Richard Roundtree films or the 2000 Sam Jackson reboot. It tired story attempts to introduce a new version of the classic blaxploitation character to a new audience. In the process, it makes you hate the two “heroes” we follow through a generic plot filled with offensive humor. The only good thing about Shaft is that it prompted me to check out the originals.
3. My People, My Country
The Farewell made me think a lot about how we should view other cultures, particularly China. In it, Awkwafina’s Billi is caught in a moral dilemma when she learns her beloved grandmother is dying and that her family is keeping the secret from sweet Nai Nai. You go in thinking the American-raised woman is going to do the right thing by tearing the charade apart but it’s not long before you realize this scenario isn't that simple. When it comes to My People, My Country, I am going to judge. What’s the moral of this movie again? Give up your life, your dreams, your family for the sake of a country that sees you as nothing more than an expandable pion? If that weren’t bad enough, the movie’s so dull it’ll be an epic struggle to stay awake. Whose idea was it to have an entire segment of this anthology dedicated to the engineers who ensured the mechanism that would raise China’s flag in 1949? It’s as exciting as it sounds.
2. ¡Ay, mi madre!
The worst part of this list is that I know how few people reading will be able to relate. ¡Ay, mi madre! wasn't released theatrically in North America, but movies release “Straight to Netflix” have become such a big deal I’ll make an exception to my usual rule of disqualifying direct-to movies from this list. In terms of filmmaking, this is the worst movie I’ve seen in a long, long time. It’s more technically inept than anything else on this list by far. The comedy is so unfunny it’ll make you question your life, the actors are not convincing even before they open their mouths to speak and the ending might as well be a big middle finger towards the people watching. It ha no ending, almost as if they cobbled together the few salvageable strands of footage someone scooped out of the trash into something vaguely related to “coherent”. Remember the name so you know never to click “play” if you happen upon it like I did.
The Runner-Ups
Simmba
I was deeply offended by this Bollywood film but technically, it’s a 2018 movie so I decided to only include it here. It’s loathsome but admittedly, my hatred for it has somewhat subsided since I saw it. Don’t ask me why. This movie sucks.
Playmobil The Movie
This is what we thought we were going to get when they announced “The Lego Movie”. Terrible songs, a lazy plot that makes terrible use of the property it’s advertising, unfunny jokes, and a lack of imagination guarantee this film is destined to make everyone involved regret the day it was released.
Hellboy
Yet another failed superhero movie that enthusiastically sets itself up for a sequel when it’s so obvious to everyone watching that there isn’t going to be one. The one thing it’s got going for it is a pretty cool scene towards the end where demons escape into our world and begin tearing civilians to pieces. To get to that, you must sit through endless scenes that bash you over the head with a mallet marked “Rated R”. Gallons of blood and intestines spilling onto the floor, doesn’t mean the movie is meant for adults. This was written by a teenager disguised as a grown-up.
Gemini man
They waited all these years for the de-aging technology to get where it is now… for this story? Someone should’ve pointed out to director Ang Lee when he was getting ready to film that training doesn’t alter your DNA. Why waste millions cloning Will Smith when you could just raise a normal kid and train them to be an assassin? Ultimately, the movie isn’t really all that bad. It’s watchable but it’s such a big disappointment it needs to be taught a lesson.
Replicas
I’m giving this one a break because no one saw it. I also think it’ll play better at home, where you’ll be free to make fun of it or verbally abuse the loopy plot aloud while your friends listen. If there’s a movie this year that was “So bad it’s good”, it’s this one.
After
At least “Twilight” had its original take on vampires and some danger mixed into its romantic triangle to keep things theoretically interesting. This film started off as - I kid you not - a “One Direction” fan-fic. The drama it serves up will have you howling like a werewolf flying through laughing gas. On the upside, a sequel is coming. In fact, the teaser is scheduled for today!
1. Unplanned
This was the most uncomfortable movie experience of 2019. Most of the Christian propaganda films don’t seem to put much effort into their production - they’re preaching to the choir so why should they? - but 2019 had Breakthrough, which was quite good. It showed these movies don’t have to appeal solely to the churches who will buy tickets en-masse. This movie is ridiculous, gory like a horror film, misleading, and phony. It did have what is undoubtedly the most outrageous and unintentionally funny dialogue of the year, however. “Fast food outlets look to break even on the hamburgers they sell. That’s all they do is break even ... Do you know where they make all their money? The french fries and soda. Low cost, high margin items. Abortion is our fries-and-soda.” Are we sure this was based on a true story? If so, I don’t know why the director decided to edit out the scenes in which Cheryl (Robia Scott) takes the buckets of aborted fetuses home to cook them. I think it would’ve really driven home how evil her character is. I felt dirty sitting in the theater next to people who ate this up.

Criminal Empires (Part 1?) Jason Todd x Mob!reader
A/N; I got this idea and just had to take it out of me, hope you guys enjoy it. It was super fun writing this one. Let me know if I got something wrong!
Request; (none) You were one of Gotham's most feared mob chief, your code name was Nulla Falcone, Red Hood comes after you.
Life in Gotham wasn’t easy. Its fame wasn’t just made-up stories that parents told their children to keep them out of trouble, even though most of them were already in trouble themselves. Your life wasn’t easy, you were born and raised in Gotham and have never left the city in your whole life.
When you were eight your family lost everything you had because the company that built your house was embezzling money and used cheap material, making it unable to live in. That’s when your dad got involved with the mob, fist it wasn’t a big deal, some favors here, some services there, until he got Falcone’s attention, growing fast inside their circle. At first, you were happy that suddenly you guys had a good house, lots of food in your fridge, and didn’t have to worry about the money, but then... you lost your dad. Shot in a crossfire with the police. You were twelve, and as fast as the money came, it left. Your mom didn’t get involved in that side of the law again, not if meant you could lose her too. But her shitty job as a waitress wasn’t enough, so when you turned sixteen, a teenager full of anger, resentful of life, desperate to prove yourself, you did the most reckless thing. You had walked into Falcone’s club, demanding to him right away, and that you wouldn’t take no as an answer. You almost got shot, but as you weren’t a treat, a teen that barely fit in her clothes, they let you in. Falcone remembered your father.
-He was a good man. Great in the job, and I could trust him.- He said.- Can I trust you?
You were as good as your father, sometimes even better. Cops could barely be called an obstacle, your steals were clean, you made sure no one got hurt. And if some of your partners shot someone, you made sure to shoot them in the same spot. You never let your mom found out, you told her about a half-period job in some random shop, and every time she asked, you would change the name. Her only concern was your school, but that wasn’t a problem anymore since you got a scholarship in Gotham's most prestigious academy, obviously your boss’s doing. You learn Italian has a Thank You.
 Fast, you turned in Falcone right arm; you were ambitious but would never betray someone who did so much for your family. As for Falcone, he saw your potential and send you to Coast City to finish your studies. Your mom radiated pride even if melancholic because she would miss you.
You were in the last year of college, the normal life not appealing anymore when Falcone died and left you with his empire. You were now twenty-one and decide to not keep lying to your mom; she was beyond mad. And beyond worried. While you’re gone a new vigilant had shown up on Gotham. The Red Hood. You wanted to laugh, so many times you fooled the Big Bat himself, who was someone that got their name from a fairytale against you?
Your empire grew, Gotham’s biggest villains respected you, and since no one knew your real name, soon enough you became Nulla Falcone, the Italian word to nothing. Just like the one before you, better than the one before you. Your first encounter with Red Hood was hilarious. One night he broke in thinking that was the day of a big drug operation and ended up scarring the kids you had brought home to feed. You knew your radio frequency was being listened to, so you changed the codes. It was fun screaming no sense words with an Italian accent and even funnier when he tried to calm you down. In your second encounter, he didn’t see you since you were watching from the cameras.
He got in and barely got out. You had paid a former League of Assassins to train your employees so when normal people did martial arts; he figured it was time for a strategic retreat. Now here you were. Heading for the third one, you couldn’t believe it. He had a nerve coming after your mom. You looked at the picture of your mom through her window an unknown number sent you.
- Your mother is adorable. Does she know what you do for a living? What happens if I tell her?
Want to meet up? - You reread the text, for what it seemed the thousand times, and checked if the place were right. Going in the abandoned warehouse you got your gun ready expecting the worst.
- Hello there, Falcone. What brings you here? - His sarcastic voice echoed through the empty warehouse.
- The fact that you got a picture of my mother, you son of the bitch. - It was your quick response. You look up to see him on one platform.
- Oh, no need to go for the mothers, Y/N. You know, your real name is prettier than the Nulla bullshit.
- Says you. Tell me what you want so I can leave, Hood. I’m a busy woman.
-Well, you sure have an empire to run, but who said anything about me letting you leave? Besides in a corpse bag, of course.
You evaluate the situation, you couldn’t leave; He could go after your mom again. You could kill him, but you would be doing more damage than not. The thing was; the job Red Hood did? Helped you. He got rid of the disgusting part of the scum and, sometimes, even of your rivals. So you tried to stall him for more time.
- How did you found out about my real name?
- It was a coincidence, really. I was messing with some old stuff and saw an old group picture. Found this pretty girl I was sure I knew, the problem was; I couldn’t remember from where. Then it hit me; the Italian lady. And with your surname, it was easy to find your background. - His explanation caught you off guard, you were never really a group person, so how could he have found a PUBLIC old one? The only place where you did this was school.
- So you went to school with me? - You said trying to remember your classmates.
- You wish, sweetheart. No, it wasn’t my old stuff. - He said leaning on the platform’s handrail.
- Again, What. Do. You. Want?
- You know I just didn’t go to your place and decorate your floor with the inside of your head, Y/N? - It was his response.
- Why?
- I got curious. Impressive, huh? You see, for you, I had to do some research, because even on Batman’s computer you came out of nowhere. And that’s not even the unusual part. You seem to fight crime from the inside. You take homeless kids and feed them, you train outcasts men to work with you, and you shoot criminals when they shoot civilians. So tell me, what are you; a hero? A vigilant? One of the bad guys?
- Someone growing tired of your bullshit, Red Hood. Are going to kill me? Are you not? - You asked seeing him get down from where he had been when you enter. - Like I said I’m a busy woman. I was born in Gotham, so what if I don’t want to see my people fall deeper into this hell? Do you know the difference between a criminal and a villain? No? Well, let me explain to you. A villain enjoys when someone suffers, a criminal doesn’t care about nonworking laws. Wanna guess which one I’m?
He was almost six and a half feet from you now, gun still in his hand, but since it wasn’t aimed at you, you left your down.
- How about we make a deal? - He said confusing the hell out of you.
- What do you want?
- There you go again with this question. Listen, I let you live, and you give some information about a friend of yours? How does that sound?
- What friend? I'm not a snitch, everyone is a bit dirty in my business segment.
- Oswald Cobblepot, are you close to him? - The sound of your rival's name made you smile.
- What do you want to know? - The implicit question was "how much?"
- Where will he be next?
- The fair grand opening. He has been invited to speak.
- Are you sure of that?
- You can come for me if I'm wrong.
- Okay. We're good to go. It was nice to meet you, Nulla.
You turned on your heels and headed for the exit.
- Delete me and my mother pictures, Hood. She has nothing to do with my job. If anyone comes after her, I am coming for you.

Fine (Outlaws x Reader)
This one is just all around depressing
Trigger Warning: Blood, violence and death
Tumblr media
When you fought you always felt a rush, it is exhilarating and scary. Maybe because of how scary it is, it’s more exhilarating. But you had become a superhero because you enjoyed the rush, the heat of the fight.
An arrow whizzed past your ear, as you fought. You didn’t even bother to turn around and face the culprit, just screamed annoyed, “Arsenal!”
“Sorry babe.” Roy shouted back, knocking another arrow from his bow, as you shot your gun at the baddies. You and the Outlaws moved as one, completely insync with each other. A full year in a polyamorous relationship does that to a group.
A fireball hit an assassin which was coming towards you, and Kori winked from above you.
This fight was harder than usual, the League of Assassins were far better trained than the normal criminals in Gotham.
The fight was going fine, perfectly fine until you saw an assassin with a fancy gun, pointing straight to Roy. And Roy, that beautiful idiot Roy, didn’t see him at all, too busy trying to show off trick shots. It must have been the heat of the battle, because you didn’t stop to think, didn’t even yell out, you simply pushed Roy out of the way, and let the bullet piece your stomach instead of his.
You didn’t feel the pain, at all.
You turned to shot the man, and he toppled down in a heap.
Roy shouted something witty to you about not being able to keep your hands off of him, even in a fight. Jason told the two of you to shut up and get back to fighting. He hadn’t seen the shot you had taken, none of them had, and if it were hurting, you probably would have told them all, but you felt nothing, actually that was wrong, you felt energized as if you could finish the battle by yourself.
The battle raged on for about fifteen more minutes until most of the assassins were either dead or running off with their proverbial tails between their legs. Jason smiled, slinging an arm around Roy, “We won.”
“We won.” you and Roy chorused back together, and Kori settled down next to the three of you.
“We should get the food.” Kori suggested, but you were finally starting to feel tired, so you sat down on the hard floor, letting out a shaky breath.
“Yeah, we should probably go soon, we don’t want cops arriving at this scene.” Jason nodded, gesturing around at the dead bodies strewn about in the middle of the forest. You wanted to scoft, and exclaim that no cop is coming this deep into the woods unless they need to, but you just wanted to sit down for a moment more.
“Hey, Y/N.” Roy said, gently kicking your leg to get your attention, “you doing okay?”
And just like that the pain hit. It felt like you entire side was on fire, that you were burning up. You wanted to scream, but you gritted your teeth and placed your hand to side, feeling warm wet blood over your hand.
“Shit.” You murmured feeling the world shift, as you leaned back into the grassy ground. Suddenly three very concerned vigilantes were around you: their hands all over, trying to stop bleeding, keeping you awake.
“Y/N!” It was Roy’s voice, or maybe Jason’s, you weren’t sure.
The world had a black haze around it.
“I’m sorry.” You whispered.
“No!” That sounded like Jason for sure, “You aren’t sorry, because you’re fine.”
Everything hurt, but you turned to look at Jason, his hand held yours, tightly, as if his hand would magically keep you awake, alive. You tried to smile, but it came out as a pained grimace.
“Fine.” You whispered feeling your consciousness fading.
“Yeah baby, that’s it, you’re fine.” Roy spoke he held his leather jacket to your side, trying to save you.
A loopy, hurt smile crossed you face as you focused on him.
“I’m fine.” you repeated, because it was true, you had saved Roy, and that meant you would be fine. You would rather die than live a moment without him, without anyone of them.
You slipped away into the darkness with a smile on your face.
You were fine.
