Share Israa's story

Israa (ig: @israajamal97) has contacted me today and reached out to have her story told. I quote her exact words when I say she told me:

"I don't need money from you. I need you to share my story"

The situation in Palestine is dire, and we have no clue the true dangers and loss that these people are experiencing, not even if we've been following this through all of our social medias.

When conversating with Israa, she told me about her experiences in Gaza

Israa is 27, and she was very ambitious and career-oriented before this genocide. She majored in public relations and media, and wanted a career in cosmetology. Her path was very bright and hopeful, until the IDF attacked.

She, her mother, and sister lived together for 4 months under terrible conditions. Constant b*mbing and horror, never having any security or protection. Israa shared she and her family suffered with hunger and lack of clean water, which is a very pressing matter that is happening up until now all across Gaza.

On January 21st, Israa's family suffered a great loss when her mother was made a martyr by the IDF's violence. Israa describes:

"I lost the most precious thing a human being could own. I lost my soul when my mother was martyred and left me and my sister alone in this darkness."

Israa and her sister already experienced losing a parent before this war in 2012 with their father. The situation was already unlivable, now Israa feels life is unattainable in Gaza.

Though Israa does not aim to have donations and only share her story, I will leave her fundraiser here, incase someone may want to support. She has explained there has been a lack of donations, where she is trying to raise enough funds for both her and sister to evacuate.

If you are religious, I urge you to pray for Israa's and her sister's wellbeing. Life in Palestine is a constant fight against violence, against starvation, against thirst, against pain both psychologically and physically. There is little to no aid coming in, so Palestinians are put in a position where they are left to campaign or share their stories by themselves, like Israa.

Please pay attention to what is going on in Palestine. Nothing will change if we do not make the steps. Call out your representatives, call out politicians, challenge their complicity. Educate yourselves and stay involved with what is going on.

op's right but i just wanna add that during their solo era, bts did put themselves first and it was a delight to witness. except jin, who really needed to leave soon and dropped a love song for army.

the other 6 members really put their music tastes first (which they have to compromise on all the time when they work as a group). their albums are so different from one another. some have deeply personal stories & some discuss how the world functions while some are fun bops.

i do think the visuals are 100% for army first. the way they film their mvs. but the production & lyrics are for themselves first.

I don't have another place to put this where it wouldn't be misinterpreted, so tumblr it is, even though I'm guessing the intersection of BTS x Swiftie x my followers is relatively low lol

I've been making Connections! not the NYT game, the mental ones

I've been thinking a lot about the relationship Taylor has with her fans, especially after TTPD. TTPD overall felt like the most Taylor album ever; she is writing for HER, for what she wants, for what she feels -- not for accolades or awards or fan service or radio plays or whatever.

Part of her whole vibe now, especially post-TTPD, is that her fans and her fame are a burden -- not in a way that she's ungrateful, but in a way now where she's not putting them first any more. She's putting herself first. She's seen the power and the struggle of immense fandom, and some of it isn't great. She's being honest about that in her music. She appreciates the immense power she holds, but it's not all perfect. (And not to say that this is like a new position from her, but it's much more pronounced in her music than it was, imo, more emotionally prevalent.)

a large portion of the appeal of BTS once you get deeper into the fandom than surface-level is that BTS clearly puts ARMY (their fans) first 99.9% of the time (and sometimes to the detriment of their own health, mental, physical, w/e, which true ARMY don't especially love, but that's a whole other topic). But like. They don't blink without first thinking of their fans

They are eternally in a position of humility and gratitude to their fans. Every little thing (especially in enlistment era!) is decided in terms of what will ARMY like? how will ARMY interpret this? what would ARMY want us to do? it's so visible, so palpable, and so hard to express that you can really clearly see that intention once you're invested. But it is SO CLEAR. And so kind. It's humbling to be a fan of someone like that, who's thinking of you first. What kind of artist does that? What kind of group that holds immense cultural power thinks of their fans first? and I mean *first*, not second, not at the same time as themselves, as FIRST.

being an adjacent Swiftie (I've listened to her for a very long time, she's great, I love her, I think she's incredible but I wouldn't call myself a true Swiftie) means that I can feel so clearly the difference between the attitude of fans of both of them -- Swifties and ARMY. Taylor isn't doing that. She's not thinking of her fans first. And to be really really clear she has EVERY RIGHT to do that. She has no obligation to anyone to put them above herself! I have zero problem with it as a whole, honestly.

It's just a different community; it engenders a different sort of fan-artist relationship; it produces all sorts of interesting repercussions as you move outward from produced art->intended reception->fan community->larger mass reception

and it's just... fascinating.

Amongst the sea of amazing bts fanfics I keep coming back to Eunoia ever so often. It's truly one of those fics that you never forget about yk. It's amazing how you have created such an immersive world; that the length of Eunoia isn't intimidating, no matter how many times I read it. I am going into indulgent and fangirl territory next so I have a feeling this is gonna be kinda long (sorry for that TvT).

Ok sooooo... Starting with the amazing way you write such a relatable and human y/n. I know you don't always have to write relatable reader inserts since the point of these fics is to be able to experience stories and situations that you might (and prolly won't) irl. I know (us) the ppl reading this fic aren't world class producers who are friends with taylor swift but gosh darn it I feel like it when I am reading eunoia XD . The y/n feels so... human. They have their fears, insecurities, mess ups and they worry and overthink yet they also have their strengths and try their hardest no matter what. Their love hate relationship with their career and burnout, is honestly so refreshing to see becuz no matter if your career is your dream you are going to get tired at some point. OH YEAH AND THEIR COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR PARENTS! My gosh, it was so good to see someone acknowledge how hard it is to have a relationship with your parents where you don't hate them but you also don't get along because of your massive differences. It feels like you are stuck b/w a rock and a hard place. An argument that will never find it's peace...

Also, I feel like you absolutely nail the members' personality to a T. Ofc, tho you just HAD to give them such TRAGIC backstories ;-; (but yk I get it, the angst is what makes the fluff all the more sweeter). I adore the intricacies of their relationships with each other and also with the reader. All of them mean well but are hesitant to cross any boundaries. I hope we can see them get even closer and develop even stronger bonds so they don't feel like they are burdening each other with their problems and instead rely on each other <3 OK RAPID FIRE ROUND-

This ask made my day and I'm sorry for taking some time to reply but when I receive such long asks I usually like to think some more before replying. First of all, thank you so much for your words and the fangirling. I live fangirling!!

It is very important to me when writing the main characters in stories to give them their own personalities and make them as human as possible. I don't think it's as fun to write perfect characters or to read about them at that. The mc of Eunoia is very close to my heart because I can see myself in some aspects of her character and I'm happy that's true for other people as well. Relationships with parents can be very hard to navigate and she and her parents have a complicated history. They will never stop being her parents but their differences are so stark and they are nearly strangers by now. She was trying with them for the longest time and she didn't know when to stop trying. Or to stop pretending.

All the hybrids share unique relationships with each other. They might have tragic back stories but they are ones that led them to each other. They have had people crossing their boundaries so many times in the past that they are afraid of doing that to each other. They are all my babies and I adore them.

I was planning to write some light smut for it but I've been rethinking it. I don't have any experience writing smut and in this case the second person is throwing me off. I'll try but I don't know how it will go and if it will fit with the story well.

#1 Greyson Chance's Hold On 'Til The Night (2011)

the very first physical album I've ever bought for myself, spent a month and a half saving up to buy this after my elementary graduation. i took care of it so much that the case broke LOL

#2 One Direction's Take Me Home (2012)

the second album I bought! got the Yearbook Edition alongside Niall's cardigan from Penshoppe (both are still with me!!) LMAO this album reminds me so much of high school, so nostalgic. one of my classmates gifted me a folder filled with printed lyrics so I had every song memorized. i also remembered that I used to make jingles with some of the songs' tunes from this album!!

this reminded me of that specific* person LMAO whenever I listen to this album, I think of him and how he's doing, and if things were different, would we have a chance? EME LAMANG! anyways only the REAL ones that Heartbreak Girl and Try Hard sound different on this album compared to their pre-releases. my sister also loved this album, her fave is English Love Affair!

when One Direction had their (FAKE!!) hiatus back in 2015, I never followed any musical artist so I embarked on my 2-year journey of being a Potterhead and a Dramione shipper LMAO I knew BTS since I was 13 but never really focused on them because I was busy focusing on 1D pls,, anyways this album has a great impact on me, I never knew that the first time I watched Fake Love's MV (with subtitles) that I would love them this much.
