The Service Selection Board is an organization that screens candidates for enrolment into the Indian Armed Forces. It is mandatory that every individual go through it. A standard protocol is used to assess the mental and physical health of each candidate. The afternoon or evening PPDT (Picture Perception & Discussion Test) begins. The test involves candidates being shown a black-and-white picture for 30 seconds. They then have to analyze it and create a story within the given time. Candidates are then divided into groups, and assigned an officer to each group. After each candidate has written their story, they must then tell it in front of an officer within one minute. The results will be available after both tests. Screening is done for those who pass with the required marks. Those who fail are sent home.

Day II (Stage II Psychology Test)

All candidates who have been screened are sent to day two for a psychological test. The test includes four tests: TAT (Thematic Apperception Test), WAT (Word Association Test), SRT [Situation Reaction Test] and SDT (Self-Description Test).

TAT - This is similar to the PPDT but there is no discussion. Candidates are given a clear picture for thirty seconds. They then have to create a story in the four remaining minutes. The last picture is left blank. 11 pictures are shown. The candidate must write the final story.

WAT – Here, the candidate is given 60 daily use words for 15 seconds each and asked to create a sentence using that word.

SRT – Here, a booklet with 60 questions is handed to the candidate. For those questions, he/she must answer in the next 30 min.

SDT - The last test requires candidates to give a brief description of themselves. The test has five questions.

Day III and IV (Stage II Group Test)

A GTO office assigns tasks to candidates on days 3 and 4. They are a mixture of solo and group tasks that the candidate must complete within the given time. These tasks require only basic mental and physical skills. An Interviewing Officer conducts an individual interview based on the completed PIQ form and general knowledge questions.

Day V (Stage II Conference)

A panel of officers conducts a formal conference with each candidate on the last day. The conference is a conversation between officers and candidates. It's a simple conversation in which the officers test/check the candidate's confidence, honesty and expression. Then, give the candidates appropriate marks based upon their performance.

The final result, which is based on the overall performance, will be announced. The results are announced based on the overall performance of the candidate. The rest of the candidates are then congratulated on their achievements and sent home.

1) IAS Exam General Details

 To become such officers of key importance is not an easy task. One has to pass through the grueling examination process of the Union Public Services Commission (UPSC).

 UPSC conducts Civil Services Examination (CSE) to select the best of the best in the country for the post of IAS. It is considered as one of the toughest exams in the world.

 2) IAS Exam Pattern (Pre, MAINS, IGP)

 The CSE or commonly called IAS exam pattern involves three stages. The first stage is the Preliminary stage.

 This stage is generally known as the elimination stage where the majority of the applicants for the exam are eliminated. The examination consists of two papers. Paper I is the general studies paper and Paper II is the Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). Both the papers consist of Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs). Eligibility for the next stage is only after crossing the cut-off marks laid down by the Commission in Paper I and getting qualifying marks in the second paper.

 The next stage is known as the Mains Examination. This is a descriptive type. There are a total of nine papers including two language papers which are qualifying in nature. Selection to the next stage is based on merit. Here, the analytical ability of the candidate, their capacity to be innovative, their understanding of the detail, their ability to connect the dots, etc., are tested.

 The final stage is the Interview stage where candidates who qualified Mains are interviewed by the members of the UPSC Commission. By aggregating the marks from Mains and Interview, the final selection list is released by the Commission. Based on one’s rank and category, IAS posts are allocated. 

3) IAS Exam Eligibility

 UPSC notification clearly mentions the eligibility for the exam. The lower age limit for all category candidates is 21 years as of 1st August. The upper age limit for general category candidates is 32 years. For OBC, it is 35 and 37 years for SC and ST candidates. 

As for the number of attempts one can give for the exam are - six for general category candidates, 9 for OBC candidates and for SC/ST candidates, the attempts are unlimited till the age of 37 years. 

The minimum educational qualification for the exam is graduation. Even students in their final year can appear for the exam.

Step 5 – Choose the Exam Window

Every year, there are three exam windows that are available for you to attempt the parts in – 1st January to 28th February, 1st May to 30th June, and 1st September to 31st October! You have the option to either attempt both parts of the exam in one window or do the same across two windows. Step 7 – Pay the US CMA Exam Fee

After you have enrolled for the US CMA program, you can then go ahead and pay the US CMA exam fee to take the exam. If you have an academic membership or a student membership with the IMA each exam part will cost you $311, if not you will be required to pay $415 for each part of the exam.

Step 8- Take the US CMA Exam

Both of these parts comprise a 3-hour dedicated Multiple-Choice Question section, followed by a 1-hour Essay section. While the MCQ section comes with 100 questions, the Essay section has 2 questions that need to be answered within the 1-hour window.

However, in order to be able to attempt the Essay section, you must answer 50% of the MCQs correctly, failing which you fail the concerned part of the exam and will need to retake the part again, by paying the US CMA exam fee in full.

Yet another noteworthy factor about the exam is that you cannot go back, once you have submitted the MCQ answers for scoring. Hence, it is important that you attempt as many questions as possible and only submit your answers once you’re fully confident that your score will be high enough for you to pass the part. That said, if you finish off the MCQ section in 2.5 hours instead of 3, you will be able to use the remaining 0.5 hours to complete the essay section. This implies you will have 1.5 hours to complete the essay answers instead of just 1!

Introduction

The judicial services are much sought after career option in India. In a country where having a government job is highly respected, and where government officers get perks and benefits unique to them, pursuing judicial services is a good option. The Punjab Judicial Services is one such option.

What are the judicial services?

Cracking the judicial services exams in India would only get you to the District Courts and the High Courts, the Supreme Court judges are appointed based on experience from the High Courts. There is no entry into the Supreme Court through any exam.

How can one become a judge?

There are actually two ways to do this-

You can start your own litigation practice and hope to get elevated to the Bench someday. However, there is a lesser guarantee of success through this method. It will also take quite a lot of time.

You can take the judicial service exam conducted by the state where you are interested to serve as a judicial officer.

One has to know that there are two kinds of judicial service examinations conducted by a state-

Lower judicial service exams: Fresh law graduates can apply here and if they pass it, they are appointed as judges in the District Courts. These exams are conducted by the public service commission of that particular state. 

Higher judicial service exams: Experienced and already practising lawyers are eligible to apply in these exams. Lawyers who apply to this exam must have had practised for at least a minimum of seven years. But it still depends on the discretion of many states.

The benefit lies on the side of those giving the higher judicial service exams as these exams give direct entry to the senior level positions at the High Court while those giving the lower judicial services exams would get direct entry to the junior level positions at the District Court.

It should also be noted that the lower judicial services have a fixed quota, on the basis of which judicial officers are elevated to the High Court. The figures of the quota are decided by the state’s High Court.

The Punjab Judicial Services Examination

The Punjab Judicial Services Examination is conducted by the Punjab Public Service Commission. It is conducted in three stages-

Preliminary exam: This will be an objective type exam. It consists of 125 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), where each question carries 4 marks. But there shall also be negative marking of 1.5 marks for each incorrect answer. The candidates are expected to have good command over basic general knowledge, prevailing legal issues, current affairs, Indian and Constitutional history and governance. 

Apart from these, the syllabus for the prelims consists of the same syllabus that is covered under Papers I to IV under the Mains examination.

The exam will go on for 2 hours.

A candidate will not be allowed to appear in the Mains exam if he has scored less than 150 marks in the preliminary exam; if he belongs to a reserved category, then the cutoff for mains would be 100 marks. The number of candidates equal to ten times the number of vacancies, shall be selected in the order of merit in the respective categories,and these candidates shall be eligible for mains exam. However, if the last two candidates get the same marks, then they shall both be eligible to sit for the Mains exam.

Mains exam: This exam consists of five papers-

Paper I: Civil Law-I ( 200 marks)

This would consist of questions such as essay writing (1000 -1100 words), precis writing, making of sentences with given words and phrases, comprehensions and sentence corrections.

Paper V: Language ( 150 Marks)

This paper consists of Punjabi in Gurumukhi script. You would have to carry out translations.

Interview: This carries a weightage of 100 marks. The interview shall be conducted in English. 

Candidates three times the number of posts in the order of merit shall be called to the interview. Further, no candidate having less than 50 % of the aggregate marks of the prelims and mains exams combined, and having failed the language paper,  would be eligible for the interview.  

In the case of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) of Punjab, candidates should have at least 45% of the aggregate marks of both prelims and mains papers and who have further passed the language paper, shall be called for interview.

When does the exam take place and how many attempts can one have?

The exam usually takes place in August. Ex-servicemen candidates are only permitted three attempts at the examination and even appearing at only one examination would still be deemed as an attempt. 

Eligibility 

The applicant must be a citizen of India.

The applicant must have a law degree from an institute or university recognised by the Bar Council of India. It also allows applicants from The Dacca University, The Tribhuvan University, Nepal, Sindh University in Rangoon and Mandalay University in Myanmar. Furthermore, it also allows Barrister of England or Ireland or a member of the Faculty of Advocates of Scotland to apply.

The candidates must be less than or equal to 37 years of age.

The candidates from SC and ST categories would get 5 years relaxation for age limit. 

The candidate must have studied Punjabi upto matriculation or its equivalent standard.

Ex-servicemen shall be allowed to deduct the years of their service in the armed forces from their actual age, and if the resulting age does not exceed the limit as given by the rules for appointment by more than three years, then they shall be eligible to apply.

Mode of applying and mode of examination

The mode of applying is conducted online and the exam itself is held in offline mode.

Consistency in studying and revising the concepts is key. Everything should be planned. Studying different topics in a span of 7 hours of total study time is better than trying to read everything at the eleventh hour. 

It would be advisable, to begin with the complex subjects like the CPC and the CrPC. Begin your preparation well in time so that you can devote ample amount of time towards studying these topics as they are relatively difficult.

It would be better that you make groups of the topics according to their nature and then study them one at a time. But you must also keep revising them periodically. For example: you study the procedural laws first, and then move onto the core criminal subject like IPC, after that you could go to Hindu and Muslim law.

Always refer to past year question papers and take coaching papers to practise.

A unique method by which one can remember sections is to frame a question out of it. However, these questions would only be framed when you thoroughly understand the provisions of the section. 

You should practise writing and answering long questions that have been frequently asked. Refer to past year papers for this.

Do not ignore the language paper. Practise adequately for it.

Try to expand your vocabulary through reading newspaper columns, editorial pieces etc. This would also help you to write a good essay in the exam.

Brush up on your general knowledge and constitutional and Indian history.  

Mistakes to avoid while preparing

The preparation for prelims and mains should go hand in hand. Focusing too much on theory , while ignoring MCQs is not a good approach.

One must not become overconfident. 

One must not waste their time in procuring reading material. It often happens that the candidates take more time in procuring the material rather than actually studying from it.

Do not ignore past year papers or leave them for the last moment.

Do not leave the lengthy laws for the end.

If you attend coaching, you should also make time for self study. The time spent in the coaching classes would go to waste if you do not revise it at home.

The time spent while preparing for the judicial services is a crucial one and if one utilises it effectively, then he can go into the exam confidently. Time management and consistency is key, but these things can only happen when you begin to believe in your dream and most importantly, believe in yourself.

What is the best way to learn the law? 3 invaluable lessons from a decade of offering online courses

How to make something better? Modern business gurus suggest continuous testing and implementation of lessons is the key.

We started online education back in 2009, and it has been almost a decade since then. It started with CLAThacker community, for CLAT aspirants followed by BarHacker, an online training program for AIBE 2010, the first bar exam in India ever.

We had numerous lessons, some learnt the hard way, through trial and errors. And the others from various tests, surveys, interviews and actively seeking out critical insights. Some are learnt from pure observations, of success and failure both, either of our own or even of competitors.

I will share some of those lessons with you today. These lessons will definitely help you to make the best of online law courses you may ever undergo or have already taken.

Lesson #1

Most people who buy a course never finish, and we must change that

Don’t get me wrong, a lot of students will give the exam and get certificates. But a vast majority do not even bother to read all the material or watch all the videos.

I am fundamentally a lazy person. I understand their predicament. I accept it as a reality.

So we initially tried to make our course material more interesting, thinking that will make people go through the entire course. It worked to a small extent, but not quite satisfactorily.

We thought maybe if we increase the number of videos it will work. But no, it didn’t. It made a difference, but not enough.

Then we found a solution. Constant engagement! Now we engage people week on week through activities!

Don’t leave them alone to study the material at their own pace. If we do that, there are about 10% of people who actually study. These are disciplined people with good habits, initiative and more success in life.

Rest of the 90% never finish reading the course or watching all videos. They lose steam midway.

So what we did next was a game changer. We started giving people weekly exercises. We put the focus of the courses on these exercises. Most of the marks to pass the course was allocated to weekly exercises though we retained an exam at the end of the course too.

The weekly exercises are all practical tasks that a lawyer would have to do in a law firm, litigation chamber or an in-house legal department. We make people conduct due diligence on realistic data (sufficiently changed from original transactions) and then ask them to write DD reports. We ask them to draft contracts or come up with litigation strategy. We ask them to what company policies or court applications.

The final exam also contains questions that deal with practical applications only and not things one have to memorize. The exam is open book. We don’t mind even if you look at google search, any book or study material when you are giving exams. That is only because we know you will not find the answer anywhere.

You will have to apply your mind and use the skills to find the correct answer. That’s the point of an open book exam. They are just MCQs, but you have to think things through to get to the correct answer.

This is how we significantly increase the level of engagement in our courses. People solve weekly exercises, so they have to read up the material. They have to google. They have to research the law and figure out other things. Then they get feedback on what they submit usually within the same week, but at most by the next day.

When you see the feedback, you want to improve. You can see what you learned and where you are struggling. The impact is evident. Then comes the live weekly class.

Our students have consistently rated these classes very highly. They enjoy the interaction, the learning, the opportunity to clarify the doubts.

We even ask our students to write an article every month and publish. That way they get appreciation and recognition. And appreciation is like a drug. Once you get a taste, you want more! So they write more, better and frequently.

As you can see, interaction is the key. Since we have implemented these few measures, student satisfaction has gone through the roof and very few people drop out any more.

And when people slack off, they know clearly that they are slacking off. There is no scope for maintaining any delusions. Then we call them up and enquire why they are missing classes and assignments. At that point, they have a clear choice. There is no fooling oneself that one will do all of it later.

Or that you will study last moment before the exam.

We are clear, the weekly exercises are critical. If you do not do those, you do not qualify for the certificate.

Sure, you can do them later. But until you do, you are not eligible for your certificate!

This is why we do not focus on non-interactive canned courses these days. We have realised how much amazing value is created by regular interaction, weekly exercises and writing/publication assignments. All our Diploma and Executive Certificate courses follow this pedagogy.

Lesson 2#

Spoon feeding is terrible, we must get the students to take an initiative

Most learners want us to spoon feed them. But it does not prepare them for the real word.

Let’s say we have given you a contract to review as an exercise. Let’s say it’s a corporate lease contract. Now some clauses we have intentionally skipped in the template given to you. We want you to identify and add those clauses.

Now let’s say you have a list of important clauses in your study material. You also have a template where those clauses are provided.

All you have to do is copy-paste.

I don’t want to give you such a simple exercise. I want to give you something that will make you wonder, spend 2-3 hours scrambling, and trying to figure out things.

Clients will not come to you with easy questions. You need to be able to do difficult things you have never done before. We want you to learn how to deal with such assignments that nobody prepared you for.

Sure we will give you some easy exercises once in a while. Especially towards the beginning. But if we don’t give you tough exercises how will you really get better?

And some students just fail to understand why we teach things after they have already done the exercise and note before. They are like if you told this to us earlier we could score more in the assignment.

Genius, are you doing this course to score some more useless marks? Most people already have enough certificates, accolades and marksheets in life. I hope you are doing this course not to accumulate more such useless junk.

We want students who are focussed on improving their skills and lawyers. We want people who want to become amazing lawyers or business leaders, not people with a mountain of marks. What do you think clients and recruiters want?

Being good at this kind of work requires you to think. If we spoon feed you about the next exercise in the class, that will not make you a better lawyer or strategist. Trust us on that! We have seen enough.

We want you to figure things out on your own. In the beginning, it may feel weird. If it does, call us. We will guide you. Soon you will get used to researching independently, structuring your answers and begin to get things right effortlessly.

This training to be self-sufficient is what makes the course most valuable. And this is why employers love our graduates.

They know how to take responsibility for their work and for the outcome they produce.

Lesson #3

We cannot offer good courses if we join the price race to the bottom

Gareema Ahuja from sales recently pinged me. “Another cyber law course” she typed with a smiley and sent me the link. “Haha” I replied, “how much are they charging?” “2500”. “Well, then we have nothing to worry about.”

We sell our cyber law, fintech regulations and technology contracts diploma for Rs. 25,000. We know the amount of value we provide in that course. We also know that a competitor which charges Rs. 2500 will never be able to match us.

However, if they were charging Rs. 30,000, I will get worried. I will investigate more.

Why is that?

Because that would mean there is a competitor that believes that they can give more value than us and is ready to charge a premium for that. That’s a serious player I need to figure out. I need to know what they have found that I have missed.

Lucky for me, that has never happened.

Our competitors have been dropping the price year after year. What they used to sell for Rs. 5000 a year back is now just Rs. 1000. I am sure this cheap price gets them a lot of students initially. However, how many will repeat? How many are happy about the course at the end? How many will buy another course from them year after year? I doubt.

They are charging according to the value of their courses, which is very little.

We have students who have taken one course every year for the last 3 years. We have people who have enrolled in 5 different courses, one after another. We have students who referred their batchmates, employees and family members. When that happens, we know that we are on the right track.

There is not only a single competitor who tries to compete by reducing the price, but there are also many. They give big discounts. They drop the price again and again. They offer more courses for less money. During festivals, they give even bigger discounts. When their course does not sell enough, they resort to giving steeper discounts.

This means they have to reduce the money they spend per capita for every student over time. It leaves them with very little room to provide something good.

And I really don’t get this reduction in price and discount business. I think charging different prices to different people is cheating. If I charge you Rs. 5000 for a course today, and sell the same to your friend for Rs. 2500, how will you feel? I want to charge the same fair price to all, and therefore in the history of iPleaders, we have never given discounts.

We charge the same price to all, and only increase price, never decrease it.

So what do we do when a competitor copies our syllabus (we cannot stop them from offering the same subjects or lessons) and offers the same thing for one-third of our price?

We just ignore. We know how difficult it is to offer a good course. We require to keep stuff of 20+ people working full time, apart from half a dozen others working part-time, and always have to stay in hiring mode to properly service our students. Can a company which charges very little give the same amount of value and good service? Can they invest in developing new technology? Can they upgrade their material every time the law changes? No way.

We decided long back that we will never join this race to the bottom. We will only try to figure out how to give more and more value to our users, make the best courses ever, and be the most premium player in the market.

And I dare say a decade down the line, that decision has paid off quite well.

Tell me, would you prefer us to offer valuable, well researched, thought-out, interactive courses that are constantly being upgraded and evolved for a fair price, or cheap canned courses that never change and involves no work from our side once sold?

That’s what I thought

After all, we charge just about what a private tutor may have charged for college-level tuition.

Recently I asked our toppers from various online courses to tell me what was their reason for success and what made them use these courses so well. I will share with you all what they said tomorrow.

NUS AY2016/17 Semester Two (Modules Review)

This is my last time writing a module review in my undergraduate years! =D Assuming I’m going to pass my modules in this semester... 

I must have been nuts to take these two modules together in my final semester on top of my thesis. Not a good idea. And you will see why...

In this review, I will be sharing 4 main things: the who (the lecturer), what (the workload), how (to study for exams), and why you should take this module and why should you not. I will also share some thoughts on my life as a year 4 psychology student who has looked beyond grades and into the future in my final year in NUS.

Modules: PL4238, PL4241, PLmajorlife

Just two modules in this semester. Including honours thesis and my involvements in my residential college (i.e. CAPT), life is busy enough that you can start to neglect your studies a bit!

1. PL4238 Social Neuroscience

This module was taught by Dr. Richard P. Ebstein. A google search on him showed that he is an expert in genetics, human biology, and neuroscience, and he bagged a ton of citations and publications in his research endeavour.

The module sounds interesting, right? There was no group work for this module, just 1x essay (60%) and 1x finals (40%, MCQs). As a year 4 who is struggling to finish his thesis and indulging in life beyond academics, I’ve decided to not take modules with group work at all because I want to control my own time and not having to affect others should I decide not to put in the effort to do a good job in the group work. 

I should have expected that life in this module will be miserable when 1) there was no course outline provided on IVLE (you never know what is the topic you are going to learn for each week) and 2) friends have been discouraging me to take this module under this professor and to drop it as soon as I can. However, I went ahead with it because and I’m glad I lived to tell this tale.

Dr. Ebstein gave us recommended textbooks for the module. But.. don’t buy them because you never need them anyway, unless for your reading pleasure. His powerpoint slides are dense - more than 100 slides - and one powerpoint deck can last for 3 seminars. In total, we only have 5 powerpoint slides for the module. There was great emphasis on human evolution, as though social neuroscience was all about that. I got bored by his teaching (he reads off the slides and adds in stuffs on the spot) and stopped attending classes after recess week.

You can write about anything under the sun for the essay. I wrote mine on ASD and emotions regulation in the workplace. (somewhat social neurosciencey I guess?) Do drop an email to the professor to discuss your essay outline so that you know you are on track. I got a 70% for my essay - his comment was that this topic is indeed important, but I did not manage to discuss it properly. To be fair, I did not put in much effort - hitting the minimum of about 5 pages (I had to focus more on my thesis!)

Study his powerpoint slides for the exams. There’s no need to read other readings. His tip on the final seminar was to focus on the earlier part of the module because he set his paper about a month ago and he did not know where he could finish teaching. I did not study the last powerpoint slides and true enough, nothing came out from there. The MCQs are not easy to tackle - either you know it or you don’t. So, study smart, not study hard. Almost the whole class left when we were allowed to leave the exam hall at the one hour mark xD

Would I take this module again? Definitely not under this professor. I’m sorry for the year 3s who took this as their first level 4000 module - it is not representative of the other modules I guarantee!

My final grade: B-

2. PL4241 Exploring Consciousness - Theory and Neuroscience

Another neuroscience module! There were no finals and no group work (initially) for this module, and assessment was only on the essay (75%) and class participation (25%). Later in the module, the prof said that the class participation consisted of a group presentation, while 15% was for essay proposal. 

The professor was Dr. Camilo Libedinsky. He is a knowledgeable professor and I think he teaches well for a dense topic. I was engaged in the first few seminars as he touched on the philosophical framework about consciousness - it’s like a revision of what I’ve learnt in philosophy of mind. 

The workload is pretty light. You just need to prepare for your own presentation and write your essays. There was no need to prepare for the start of each class - well, you could read the required readings for the seminar which will be talked about by the presentation group.

Similar to PL4238, you can write anything under the sun for the essay, but it has to be related to consciousness. This is a tough topic to tackle, so do arrange consultations with Dr. Camilo to discuss your essay and he will help guide you through.

Would I take this module again? With a sane mind, I know I should not. But since this was the final semester of my university life and I wanted to try out new modules I’m not comfortable with.. I went ahead. Neuroscience and consciousness - they are not easy topics. But I must say that the brain and biology parts in this module is minimal :) If you are thirsty for some philosophy in your psychology, then go for it!

My final grade: B

3. PLmajorlife - overview of my 4 years

I spent 7 out of 8 semesters studying psychology modules, and 1 semester doing the NUS Overseas College (NOC) programme. There was no need to extend my graduation date although I did overload a few modules over the semesters. I had intended to complete a philosophy minor (i already did 4 out of 6 modules) but decided not to overload in my final year in NUS. I read a total of 176 MCs, overloaded in three semesters.

Life was good. I always stress myself out, but I survived at the end. I stayed in CAPT for the first two years of my university life, which was the formative years for me to explore things in university. I’m glad I did my internship with Skillseed (during NOC Singapore) for a good 7 months and then SEP in Amsterdam after that. That allowed me to take a break from the rat race in NUS for a good one year. I was also lucky to return to CAPT for the final year in university, to give back what I’ve learnt in the past three years to my juniors in CAPT. 

I was most disinterested in studying in my final year of university. I had the luxury of not having to worry that my degree classification will change despite not putting in much effort to study. I focused my attention to my thesis, as well as setting the foundation of my startup by networking a lot. At the same time I was still running the coffee interest group in CAPT, but stopped having sessions by recess week to focus on my thesis. I had to re-collect data for my thesis because my experiment design was too complex and the data showed no significant results. Not that a significant finding is necessary for the thesis, but I did not control my variables well enough to justify and defend my findings. 

Overall, life was good but life was also a tad lonely in school. I enjoyed my weekends spent at home with my family, doing the simplest things such as having a meal together, or simply just staying at home.
