Idiots in love x Cosmic Love

Danny has had a crush on his online friends for years. His first online friend, SuperManSuperFan, had originally become his friend when they played Doomed together online a few years ago. SuperManSuperFan, or Super, as Danny called him, was funny and nice. Super was his main escape from the trauma at home, and soon became his escape from the expectations and the ghosts and the shooting and the fear.

Danny didn’t know when talking to Super became safe. He didn’t know when it became easier to do things when he imagined Super’s commentary in his head. He didn’t know when hearing Super’s voice caused his body to relax, and his mind to clear. He didn’t know, but it was already too late by the time he realized it.

Danny’s crush on his other online friend, BloodoftheBat, was different. They met on Tumblr, both posting art. Danny was learning to draw, since the accident caused mobility problems in his hands, and Jazz recommended it as a way to both process his trauma and trying to keep mobility intact in his hands.

BloodoftheBat was different than Super. Blood was blunt and open, but didn’t lie. Blood quipped back but understood when things weren’t to be written. Blood and Danny traded art prompts and pieces when sleep was too hard and the dark memories were too strong.

Danny had mentioned them to each other, but neither one really seemed to like it. Super always redirected the conversation to something else, and Blood would get snippy. He didn’t understand, but he didn’t mind.

(It wasn’t like he didn’t feel the same when Blood mentioned his friend who inspired his art pieces, or when Super mentioned his best friend Damian. It wasn’t like he didn’t know that cold rush up his spine and the lump in his throat.)

(Danny didn’t want to examine why he felt like this. He knew Jazz would say something about anxious attachment or codependency, and Danny didn’t want to hear it.)

He just hopes he can still talk to them while his parents took him with them to go to Lex Luther’s gala, who apparently was a distant relative of Vlad.

(Danny just hoped this billionaire was less gross.)

(Damian hated going to galas. He would much rather be spending time with his pets, on patrol, or messaging online with his friend BeyondtheStars. At least this time Jon would be able to sit with him as they avoided the idiots and social climbers, even if he couldn’t stop talking about his online friend.)

Love Actually

We write letters on the papers that our past selves saved for important occasions, those children could have never guessed those enveloppes with princesses printed on them would cross the ocean instead of being given to their friend next door. They would have been so happy to have met and play with their barbies, but life wanted us to meet way later on.

We talk about our futures at one am, and suddenly growing up doesn’t feel that scary : it doesn’t feel like a prophecy of loneliness and misfortune, there’s some hope in a future in which we met now. Maybe someday I’ll be able to knock on your door with some freshly out of the oven bread and we’ll talk about our present.

We draw like there isn’t a tomorrow, knitting with lines and splashes the image of a Polaroid that we aren’t able to take just now. I’ll buy an album and plenty of Polaroid paper for when we’ll be able to take some.

We read the books that our middle school selves were obsessed with, they both would be so glad to know that there’s a future where they aren’t enclosed in their rooms wishing for the world to end while traveling through their pages.

We cite our favorite pieces of media just to talk about the other and we’ll look at the sky knowing that even if it’s not the same, it’s looking at the both of us. In the night sky we see ourselves in the stars, which to the human eye are just centimeters apart, but in reality they are light years away.

And while looking at the stars, for the first time in years I know it isn’t in my head. I feel actually loved, and I’m able to love freely. A love that isn’t categorized platonically or romantically or anything. Just love, in its purest form, found by a mere casualty.

If you look for it, I’ve got a sneaky feeling you’ll find that love actually is all around.

the two boys sat on the curb after putting all the equipment from the park into sunoo's car, the cops keeping a good eye on them from their car.

coincidentally, the cop was a friend of jungwon's mom. it'd been about 20 minutes since the party had been busted and a familiar car started to pull up.

a woman coming out shortly after, “jungwon?” she called out.

“mom,” he sighed getting up, “i'm right here,” he was wrapped around a blanket that they had brought. the boy beside him, sunoo, stood up as well.

“gosh,” she exclaimed, “you get in the car and sunoo do you have a ride home?”

“i.. i drove here,” he smiled lightly.

“where's sunghoon?” she asked while turning back to jungwon upon seeing him still standing there, “get in the car,” she signaled, clearly annoyed.

“uh he got a ride back home from someone else, a long while ago,” sunoo partly lied, he didnt know where sunghoon was.

“oh great, get home safe,” she told him before going over to talk to the cops.

“jungwon!” she yelled as soon as they got into the house, slamming the door behind her, “what did you expect to happen?”

“mom, i didn't know there was beer at the party,” he told her again for about the fifteenth time that night as he took his shoes off and replaced it with house slippers, walking to their kitchen. maeumi walking over to him, nudging his leg.

“do you know how embarrassing that is? especially because it was your aunt catching you,” she asked with the tone of annoyance laced in her words as she followed behind him, “she might think you've been drinking! i told you to be careful.”

“i am careful,” he reassured her although he sounded hesitant.

she gave him an unconvinced look, “you call this being careful? be honest, did you drink tonight?”

“mom..“

“no no no, i won't be mad or anything, i just want to know. you know how illegal underage drinking is,” she reminded him.

he sighed heavily, “i'm aware, they give us the talk about drinking and drugs at least 5 days a year at school.”

“jungwon.”

“i didn't drink!” he finally broke, annoyance coming out of his mouth, “i told you this already!”

“jungwon,” she mumbled much lighter out of disbelief.

“i'm sorry,” he apologized, “but i'm telling the truth. yes i hosted the bonfire, no i didn't buy the beer nor did i drink it.”

she sighed before saying, “i believe you.. but i'm taking your phone for a month.”

jungwon's mouth dropped at the consequence, “a month?!” the only thing he could think of was yujin, he still hadn't responded to her and how would she know that he's grounded.

“actions have consequences,” she reached her hand out for his phone. he sighed, grabbing it out of his pocket and hesitantly placing into her hand.

“it's summer though,” he attempted to reason, “you even told me to go out and have fun.”

“yeah but i didn't expect the cops to be pulled into this.”

jungwon shook his head as he ran upstairs to his room. he laid flatly on his back. how could one party ruin your summer completely?
